This professor is completely unclear about what he wants, not to mention, a little bit of a nut. I took this as a night class which is a mistake. There are two tests a midterm and a final. It is not an "easy A." Don't take this teacher if you can!
Good professor....lectures kinda boring bring your computer and make sure you study quizes online for tests! All lectures are powerpoint and online so that helps. Talks a lot
Knows what he's talking about hands down, the quizzes online and reviews for tests are very helpful, and the projects aren't that bad either. He just needs to not read directly from the slides he presents, cause it makes it so hard to stay in tune
He is a crazy teacher who doesnt explain what he wants out of assignments and then gives you a bad grade. Dont take this as a night class, or just dont take it unless you have to
I thought his online quizes were kinda easy, they really didnt have any questions that came from the lecture. He was a hard grader on his projects and if you study your online quizes and concept checks, notes, and text book you do well on the test. When he tests he doesnt realize how much info it is and that you have other classes
He is a horrible teacher, he is picky and anal about everything! His tests are nearly impossible, on our midterm he had to stop grading after only 50 (out of 100) questions because otherwise over 75% of all his students would have failed completly! Don't take a class with him!!
He's a total ****. His online quizzes are easy, but his slides really suck and the way he words this is really confusing. He knocks points off if you do anything at all wrong on his assignments and he's not really good at answering questions.
Acts like this is a 400 level course when its only a 200 level. Takes questions from professional nutrition tests that the answers are not the same as what his slides or the book tells you. Take someone else if you want to do well and not kill yourself doing it.
Apparently, Dr. Bissonnette believes a student's college experience should be a humiliating charade of endless disappointment and tragedy ultimately culminating in extreme pain, decay, horror, and a very graphic and gory death. This will be reflected in your final grade.
Take him as a last resort unless u love hard classes. be sure to have friends to help with online tests as they are very hard.. example is every week u get 20 questions that are only worth 10 points for the test(out of about a 500 point class) it only takes 84% and above to get an A and 74% and above to get a B.. there is a good reason for this!!
Had our class as a mixture of in class and online. Bad. He will test you on material not covered and if you miss a class be prepared to lose points. Is not very clear and will ramble on and on....long after you've understood that topic!
Lectures are useless because he goes off of his powerpoints which are online. Plus the quizzes are online so really useless lectures. Test are somewhat medium hard because there is too much math involve. Too much calculations. Stupid cause he takes participation points off for not coming to class. Why would they do that? were paying for class.
If you dont go to class your will lose points! he takes attendance and have online quizzes every week. all quizzes and tests are online which is good. it is easy but a waste of time!!
This class is hard.. you will need to study a lot ...he knows a lot but is also a very hard proffessor... his lectures are boaring and you need to read the book to get a decent grade!
He is a hard teacher that does not bend the rules for anyone... he is strict and kinda a jerk at times.. but he does know what he is talking about... hard class dont take it for fun!
He is Not FLEXIBLE at all.A lot of quizes-ton's ofreptaions. Takes attendace everyday and takes off point if you don't show up. His quizes are kind of hard but you can look it up from your book and you have plenty time to do that. But for the exam you have to study very well coz there isn't enough time to look up every question.
Everyone seems to dislike him, but I thought he was quirky and entertaining. He's passionate. This class was hard, but I got an A by studying the "in class questions"...write them all down and study them well!! Also print out all your concept checks and tests and study them for the final...otherwise it will kick your butt.
I think this guy just likes to hear the sound of his own voice. He never shuts up. It's amazing how he took an incredibly interesting subject and made it the most boring thing in the entire world. His Ben-Steinish voice does nothing to hold your attention, and you just can't absorb the ridiculously complex information he gives you. Avoid, Avoid!!
His intellectual vanity has completely sent this guy to unapproachable distances. I've busted him trying to use big words when they were completely inappropriate for their context. He seemed to be bragging when he explained, "I've had to drop the curve to 84% for an A otherwise I don't give enough A's in the class and get talked to by my boss."
Very hard class! Loves to ramble on takes attendance and grades poorely..Will doc you for every minor error you might make...be prepared
He is not helpful at all. His tests are ridiculous. The questions on them are confusing and his possible answer choices don't make sense half of the time.
This guy acts as if he is a gift to this earth and will grace us with is vast knowledge. I took him online and his lectures were so long I couldn't sit through them. His tests are long and he asks ridiculous questions. He's the worst, I recommend any other professor for nutrition.
Professor Bissonnette is a good teacher. He definitely knows his stuff. It isn't hard to receive an A in his class. Go to class everyday because attendance is a must and receive bonus points for for not missing class. I would recommend taking his class.
He is the worst teacher, take it with someone else. the quizes are online but are super hard to get an A even with the book in front of you. He likes to hear himself talk
This class was fun and easy, professor bissonnette really knows what hes talking about. If you are interested in learning more about health you will like his class. The tests were easy if you do the concept checks (those are easy and not timed). Test questions come directly from the quiz questions.. so its easy!
I didn't enjoy this class. Dr. B is extremely full of himself. Despite this, the info is still very interesting. He takes attendance, everyday is worth 2 points. The concept checks try to trick you. Every assignment is online. The midterm and final have 100 question and 2 hours to do them. I would recommend the class but not Dr. B.
He is actually a good professor. A nice person and really extremely interested in what he is teaching. He can be very goofy which is entertaining. If you are taking the class to slack off I can see why it would be hard, but with effort it really isn't that bad. I would suggest taking it not as an online course, people seem to dislike that
He was very technical when he taught. He also didn't venture too far from the power points
This was an online class. He was very fair. He had powerpoints for each chapter that he gave this own lectures over (very helpful). The DVD he uses isn't that great. I didn't watch it. If you study the powerpoints and read the assigned readings you'll do well. I got a B, but only because I didn't try as hard as I could have. It was summer..
All of the homework is online. The quiz questions are all over the place, sometimes answers are found in 5 different chapters in the book and on his slides. You are never sure if you have the correct answers even if you take the answer directly from the book or his lecture notes. He is also terrible at answering questions.
This class is not an easy A. You have to study for the exams/quizzes. Watch the Macromedia breeze presentations too. Uses clickers in class for attendance points everyday. Has powerpoints you can print out and those are helpful. He's a really nice guy and wants to help you understand the material. I recommend taking in class and NOT online.
Weekly concept checks are pretty easy. Take notes when watching his DVDs for those quizzes; they're harder. Final exam was difficult b/c of the time constraint...101 ?s in 120 minutes. Attendance points help bring your grade up though, so go to class every day!! Definitely a class where your grade reflects the amount of effort you put into it.
Class is not easy. Videos are time consuming.
This class is very difficult to get an A in even with the textbook. The concept checks and quizzes are very specific (years, first names, time periods). He certainly knows his stuff though.
Terrible teacher. Made us buy an online program for $35 and we only used it once. Homework was way too hard and so were the tests. Videos were long and boring and tests on the movies were are small unimportant details you wouldn't think you needed to know. Terrible teacher.
His tests are timed and he doesn't give you enough time to think on the answer. It's 45 minutes to do 39 questions. Impossible when you have to think about an answer. Lab is not bad, but the tests are majorly hard.
Are his classes easy? Heck no. But Dr. B is willing to help you in every way he can. He is literally ALWAYS available and ALWAYS answers his email promptly. Just do the work, go to class and do what he tells you to do. You will be fine. He is a quirky guy who is always up for a random conversation about dietetics or anything related to coffee.
terrible, don't learn a thing.
As a dietetics student (last year), it's funny people think he is a hard teacher. Tests are timed, but I always finish them before the limit's over. He ALWAYS and is WILLING to help and make you understand material, but not many people will ask him to. FINALS ARE THE SAME QUESTIONS/ANSWERS AS THE QUIZES/TESTS. Listening to audio lecture ALWAYS.
His class is ridiculously hard. He expects way too much for a 200 level class.
Take this class with another professor. His teaching style did nothing for me. He jumps from topic to topic without warning. Sometimes from lecture to lecture. Very confusing class with unorganized structure. Tests are hard and timed, and I've found that I don't know what to study most of the time. Was very disappointed with this professor.
TAKE WITH ANOTHER PROFESSOR. He is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He must have way to much time on his hands, he created his own book, own movie. This class won't transfer to other schools either. He is the hardest teacher and the is a terrible grader. He expects WAY too much out of his students.I wish I would have read reviews on here
dont ever take this class with this teacher. He does not care for his students what so ever and is not helpful at all. his grading is beyond crazy, also his tests are so hard. For the tests you have no idea what to study for too. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER. He is terrible
He is not very helpful. I have asked for help and he told me to basically figure it out by myself since its a prereq to my major. Lectures are boring, and he basically just reads his slides off. When he teaches the equations, he jumps around so much and makes many mistakes that you will have to teach yourself. Avoid him, or take online.
If this class is required for your major I would consider taking it a different semester if he is the only one teaching. "Quizzes", more like major exams are extremely hard and often cumulative. He is very unorganized and doesn't let you know what's on the quizzes until the week of. This is more of an upper level nutrition course.
I took this class online. I was very much looking forward to this class, but ended up hating it. His concept check "quizzes" are very difficult and the questions try to trick you. He allows 2 attempts, only takes the average of the two. He wrote his own book and movie-TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. Take with someone else if you can.
THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. He is not only a terrible teacher, but an unaccommodating, unreasonable and rude person as well. The most useless class ever because majority is based on memorizing percentages and dates. He claims to be helpful, but isn't when it comes down to it. Avoid taking any class with him if possible.
The online PP are basically just Dr. B reading the book to you in bullet points. Make sure you either read and take notes from the book or listen to the PP. On the PP he goes over ex problems and shows you step by step for math problems so take notes on those. Make sure you follow discussion guidelines exactly! Be prepared and organized 4 quizs
Over $100 for a 1/2 inch paperback book with a bunch of typos. Referenced himself a lot. Required documentaries were awful."Concept checks" were not concept based, but based on very specific facts. On top of that, he came off as very stuck up and CONDESCENDING. Bottom line: take with a different teacher if at all possible.
This professor has, so many problems in this course. One, is being very inconsistent with lectures, and the book he wrote himself. Two, he would delay a lot of days for the quiz's if were falling behind in class. Three, he has a habit of changing the subject in lectures times. Be very careful on the quiz's and his grading method.
Do not take this class with this professor. He requires way too much from students for only a 200 level course. His tests are extremely difficult and detailed. He is not helpful when you are confused and does not put in the same amount of time he expects from you. AVOID THIS CLASS.
I usually get As and Bs but was doing so horribly that I had to withdrawal from this class. So many quizzes and exams that were all very hard. Discussions were easy but only 3 of them worth a small amount of points. This was the hardest 200 level class I've taken. Very difficult professor-do not take his classes.
Too many quizzes and get ready to read the text book. Made us buy a dvd which was poorly designed.
Do not even consider taking this class. He is the worst teacher I have ever had to deal with, I do not know why he still has a job. So rude, so unhelpful, makes his class way to hard. I hope nobody ever has to deal with him and his awful class .
From reading all of the comment you pretty much know how messed this proffessor is. Honestly no matter how hard you study the major assessment will be ridiculously confusing. And don't even waste your time on the study guide because the major quizzes is not based on the questions study guide. PowerPoint lecture are waste of time.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR! he will not curve anything he thinks when students do bad that it is your own fault. He tests you on things that he never even talks about and a lot of the time his lectures say something different than the book-how are you supposed to know which one is right?! when you ask for help he is a completely rude
Avoid this professor at all costs. Regardless of how hard you study, it is so difficult to get an A in this class. He wasn't helpful & often times was very condescending when I asked questions. I felt as though he was setting my peers and I up for failure. There are some questions worth 20 points & others worth 1 point. Makes zero sense. Stay away.
I would reread his textbook inside out & still had a very hard time on his exams. His exams are nothing like the study guides. There are so many errors in his textbook & often times it gets even more confusing. If a majority of your students are failing or struggling, as a professor you're supposed to be helpful - not brag that your class is hard.
You must use your book and highlight through every section. The tests are ridiculously hard and irrelevant at times. It's a very stressful, time consuming, and rewardless class. I feel like I haven't learned anything after all of that work. Good luck.
DO NOT TAKE WITH HIM. Condensing, rude, not helpful. He wrote his own book that the class is based off of which has multiple errors, his concept checks are not "concept" based at all rather pointless information that he didn't even teach us about, and has a 75 pt quiz on a documentary he POORLY made. If you have to take it like I did, Good luck
The material in this course is not hard. IT IS THE PROFFESSOR that does not care of the students grade but more about being the authority figure and making students know that. The saddest thing about Nutrion for health care prof. Is that he is the only one who teaches it and all of our careers depend on his grade. He is more than an awful prof.
Dr. B was my advisor and I also had multiple classes with him (FCS 242,252) and have more to come. Dr. B single handedly destroyed my confidence and told me I didn't have what it takes to be in the field I was in. I had to switch majors. He is a very smart man but in my opinion, not in teaching for the students, he's in it to show off.
Dr. Bissonette taught my online nutrition class and it was my least favorite class ive taken. Take it literally anywhere else. His test have all wrong answers and are poorly done. He expects you to get it without giving any guidance. DONOT TAKE WITH HIM.
He was very hard. If it was not done his way then it was considered a fail. No room for opinions or input in his class. He knew his material very well, but was not very helpful in regards to learning. Would not recommend him as a professor.
Worst prof I've ever had. Does not care about students at all. Makes you buy the textbook he wrote and horribly made documentary he also made. Much of the course material is irrelevant and quizzes and homework assignments are unnecessarily hard. second nutrition course I've taken bc I transferred, got an A in the first one, struggled with this one.
Get ready to fail the rest of your classes just because you want an A in this one, this guy makes this class unnecessarily hard for a 200 level class, it's more like a 500 level. Avoid this prof if you can...
Took FCS 242 as a summer class. Good time to take it because there is no way I would want to try to balance that class with any others, which I did have to do because I took 2 summer courses and it was a pain! Lots of the test material is not talked about in lectures, the book or documentary. Lectures can be hours long! Notes NEED to take DETAILED
Quizzes are not based off the PowerPoints that he gives you. Some answers are in the textbook, but if they are, they're buried. Incredibly hard, especially for a 100 level class. You can't see what questions you got wrong on the quizzes. Also, he is very rude.
Hands down the absolute worst class I have ever taken. His tests and quizzes are ridiculously hard, with much of the material never covered in power points. His test questions are so specific you might as well read the chapter 10 times and you might be okay. Documentary was a joke, I studied my ass off for that and got an 80%. Never again.
Although I worked hard to get a B in the class, the professor is one of the worst professors I've ever experienced. His objectives of the class is not for students to learn - I think he is on a power trip - and likes knowing that he can rip students of their confidence. He makes things harder than they need to, which is unnecessary in todays world.
Terrible professor -don't take the class.
The worst class I will probs ever have to take at MSU. Most of the lectures are pointless but it isn't worth it to skip because there are in class quizzes. The homework quizzes are so unnecessarily hard, they were usually 3-5 questions but would take me so long to do. Not to mention he makes you buy his $50 homemade documentary & take a test on
I have been a full-time student for three years and have never experienced a professor as bad as this. If you haven't been able to tell by the other ratings, STAY AWAY from this professor. I HIGHLY suggest waiting a semester and taking it with someone else who offers the course. The department needs to take care of this obvious problem.
When you get a professor who uses his own textbook, has his own quizzes with questions based form his textbook, and the questions don't relate to Nutrition.... There is a problem. I would take Economics over this class, and I did poor in that class. The professor is an expert in this field but this class. Headaches 5 mins into quiz. Used all space.
Genuinely the worst professor ever. He should stick to making dull homemade documentaries.
I took his online nutrition class thinking it would be an easy A. If you enjoy listening to someone mispronounce words for up to 3.5 hours at a time, purchasing a textbook he wrote, and buying documentaries he made then this is the class for you. Definitely a 0 out of 10 for me.
He took points away for citing HIS textbook he wrote and required for the class and said that we should not cite an unpublished textbook in our projects. Seems unfair considering it is the textbook for the class. He is condescending and rude when you try and ask for help. Worst professor I have had in the last 3 years.
If you have to take the classes that he teaches, I strongly recommend waiting a semester and taking it with someone else if you can. As a dietetics student, he really made me question my major. He is rude, condescending, and does not care what so ever about his students and how well they do in his classes. One of the worst profs I've ever had.
Worst professor I have ever had. Bissonette is extremely condescending and EXTREMELY rude. I honest to go do not know how I got a B in this class. This is not a 200 level workload whatsoever.
Worst professor i have ever had. The questions that he asks on his quizzes are absolutely ridiculous and no where to be found. He is very cocky and full of himself and sets students up to fail. Expected to learn about nutrition being i am genuinely interested in the subject but i can confidently say that he ruined the topic for me.
When the prof made the textbook and the documentary, you know there's a problem. If you have the option of this class, run. I wish a rating of 0 was possible.
Avoid this professor by all costs. Makes you read/buy a book he wrote that has very little to do with nutrition. Quizzes make 0 sense. Sends very ignorant emails and seems entirely full of himself. For being a 100 level class, the workload is extremely ridiculous. Worst prof Ive had in my college career hands down.
Awful teacher. Seriously the worst professor Ive ever had. He first forces you to buy his book and buy his movie and then his tests dont make any sense.
His class is based on a book he wrote and a movie he helped produce. Tests and quizzes are hard, his discussions are graded based on short high valued quizzes, and he expects you to find very fine details from the reading/notes. He can be pretty rude, but he seems like he doesn't realize it.
BY FAR the worst professor I have ever had. He is completely taking advantage of his power. His class is completely run for him to make a profit. HE makes you buy HIS book, HIS overpriced documentary and also references a website for us to get help on that is his. How much of this info is actually correct? Prof is extremely rude. Don't take class.
David is the worst professor ive ever had, he makes you read the chapter and watch the lecture slides which is 50+ pages and take the concept quiz and non of the material you read about is on the quiz. the questions dont make any sense and he doesnt care if you fail, so dont even bother emailing him for help becuase he will tell you to read it agai
Dr. B is the worst professor I have ever had. Get ready for rude, condescending emails, super hard, two hour "quizzes" and hours and hours of lectures... that don't really help for the quizzes. I worked so hard to barely get a B-. Spent more time studying for this class than physiology. AVOID TAKING ANY CLASS WITH HIM!! I'd give him a 0 if i could.
The worstest professor I have ever had. Video lecture are useless. Quiz is extremely hard although you read all the material on lecture notes and textbook. Not much knowledge about Nutrition
Tough class for sure, but overall wasn't bad! I thought his book had some very interesting material sometimes but the quizzes and tests were not easy. If you use your book for the quizzes and tests, you will be perfectly fine! Work hard!
The worstest professor I have ever had. His attitude to student is really rude. Video lecture is useless. You need read each chapter and lecture notes carefully to take each quiz although quiz is not make any sense. each chapter is more than 40 pages and notes is more than 50 pages. Is waste your time to take this course online. Run!!!
I don't recommend this class. Prof. B is very rude and condescending. There are many quizzes that are very hard to do. All the quizzes are focused on the book and not lectures. Not helpful at all!
Makes you buy his books and documentary which are outdated and terrible quality. His lectures are so pointless!!! The exams are challenging, and he is awful at explaining all the material. He's rude and super disrespectful when I asked for help or emailed. This is the worst professor I've ever had. I HIGHLY recommend not taking nutrition with him!!
WISH I COULD GIVE HIM 0! He is a horrible professor and so rude. He dodged all my emails and his quizzes were ridiculously hard. I worked harder in this class then anatomy and I barely got a C. The book is so odd and HIS, so he charges you for nonsense. DONT take any courses with Bissonnette you will either fail or put in lots of work for no reward
I had him for my online nutrition class and the class overall isnt terrible. however, if you ever need any accommodations with a quiz or discussion, dont even bother asking. he wont change anything for you. hes good as responding to emails, but he doesnt care if you need anything.
I would give a 0 star rating if I could. If you email him hes extremely condescending and rude. He talks down to his students when we ask for help. Refused to accommodate times for quizzes and then didnt let me take the final. The lectures dont help at all and the quizzes are difficult. The lectures dont help at all for the quizzes
Quizzes are extremely difficult and don't pertain too much information given through powerpoints, videos, or the book. The book is ridiculously expensive for it being a 100 level course. You can email him and ask questions, but he literally could not care less about it. The worst professor to take a class with at MNSU DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HIM
Do. Not. Take. His. Class. Save yourself while you can, I promise you will regret it if you don't.
DON'T. he does not reply emails, he is not lenient at all. there's bazillion Home works. you need the textbook too
Dont take this class thinking it will be an easy nutrition class. I dont know if he thought we were trying to learn about nutrition or become Einstein but the mental breakdowns this class brought upon me made the class terrible. He was very condescending and rude and his feedback was nothing close to helpful.
Professor Bissonnette is the most dismissive and arrogant "educator" I have ever come across. He cares little beyond cashing the enormous checks he collects for the required textbook (which he wrote and seemingly printed via word documents). The class taught me nothing except for how to find specific words in the book for his scavenger hunt quizzes
Quizzez are poorly made and the only thing entered in grade book. quizzes often contradict his lectures and notes.
"Dr B." is one of the worst professors I've ever encountered. This man will tell you his feedback is thorough enough not to warrant further questions, but in reality provides 0 clarity for you! He makes you buy his own textbooks and a "documentary" of his own creation. I love lining my professors pockets! Expect a litany of long, boring lectures!:(
I was required to take this class because of what I am majoring in, but if you are not required to take it or if there is a way you can get out of it, don't take it. I got a good grade but this class stressed me out so much and felt like such a waste of my time because I really didn't learn anything. The documentary is extremely outdated.
This man sucks. Do not take this class. Save yourself. Please.
The worst professor I have ever had. He makes everything 1000X more complicated than it needs to be and he says the same things just in different ways. He talks in confusing circles and never makes anything clear. He will deduct you points if you're even 0.02 off of a calculation. If you don't have to take him, DONT.
I would rate "Dr." Bissonnette a 0/5 if I could. ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! To put things into perspective, I have an A in every single one of my classes, this one, a C. If you don't have to take this exact class, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. He is incredibly rude and unreasonable. Assigning ungodly amounts of work each week, for a 3 credit course.
He acts like he knows everything. When providing feedback, he'll make it even more complicated than what you started with. There are opportunities for extra credit, but be prepared to write a lot.
He is absolutely horrendous. Worst professor I've ever had. Nothing is good enough for him, and he is a terrible, terrible, teacher. Never take his classes.
If you take this class. YOU. WILL. CRY
If you have no reason to take this class, do not do it! He is the absolute worst. Has no sympathy or compassion for his students. Will not help you. Makes everything more confusing than it has to be. Wrote the textbook himself and charges a lot for it. All the quizzes are hard and come from the textbook he made. Each attempt it different questions.
Barely a month into the school year and I hate his class, you are constantly reading and listening to lectures(that may be almost 2 hours long) and no matter how many notes I take I'm ever prepared for the quizzes. Wrote the textbook he requires and charges wayyy too much for it. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!
This guy acts like he's a godly messiah. This professor makes you buy his self-made textbook as well as documentary. After racking millions from students, you'd think he'd be a flexible and good professor? NOPE this guy is horrendous. His tests make absolutely no sense. I end up studying more for this class than organic chemistry. Avoid at all cost
He is very strict on homework. The textbook is necessary and can be very hard to read. He is very accessible over email, but the course is hard. It is all built from 15 tests every week, but it is very lecture heavy. He also is very monotone.
I would of had an A- if I didn't accidentally missed an online quiz that had a 1 day time-frame. David wouldn't let me retake the test and he was absolutely rude emailing me. This is an INTRO course, yet you spend HOURS for it when you take it for just CREDIT.
If you have to take this class for your major, do not, I repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. You WILL have to buy his textbook. There is 15 quizzes that are worth 30 points each, BUT make up FOR ALL of your grade. There is 5 extra credit opportunities that I HIGHLY recommend to do.They are the only reason why I got an A in the class.
I did not buy the $240 book for this class but he bases everything you do on this expensive book. I took this class asynchronously and he expected us to do lots of work each week. We also had weekly concept checks that were 10 questions but the questions were a paragraph long and often were not the answer you thought they were. I do not recommend.
He does not change anything for anyone. David does not care about you succeeding, he only care about the textbook that he wrote. Due to him writing the textbook he also thinks he is Einstein of nutrition. Do not take his course under any circumstances. This is not a claim of Bias or favoritism, he simply doesn't care about your success in education
The class itself is really not that bad. The only work are the weekly quizzes and all the answers are in the book. The issue is he charges over $100 for a book HE WROTE?? I did not buy it and I got by. At the end of the semester there is a quiz on a documentary that you have to pay $40 to watch. There is also extra credit. I would not recommend.
Absolutely 1 of the worst courses I've ever taken, l'd rate lower than 1 if possible.Other reviews are correct, he will see every chance to email you as a chance to disrespect &/or demean you.Quizzes are difficult & even if the lab partner HE chooses for you is competent, labs will be tedious, poorly structured,& outdated (labeled 2017 in 2023)
I am taking a 5 credit course and i am doing more work in his class that is only 3 credits. He expects everyone to cater to him and his way of teaching is super unethical. He will purposely make video study guides out of order and grade harshly. He does not care about you at all but he does care about only himself and how much money he is making.
Why is he still able to be a Professor? He sets student up for failure and pretty much impossible to get a good grade in his class. Grades a 0/23 on one of his students assignment who works very hard on all her work.
Be prepared to do a lot of notetaking and reading. He can be a harsh grader, especially on the long answer quizzes. On the bright side, he is always accessible via email and responds quickly. A lot of work for a 200-level class but it's doable, I guess.
Arguably the worst professor I have ever taken through an online course. Textbook is confusing and convoluted. Video lectures drag. Quizzes are very difficult. Avoid at all costs
Worst proffessor EVER. Doesn't care about anyone but him. Uses words against you. Doudted my ability. Doesn't understand the meaning of being a decent human.
One of the worst online classes I have ever taken. Don't even bother emailing you. The class is ONLY QUIZZES. You also have to watch his awful documentary and do an 80-point quiz on it (16% of your grade). Good luck looking up the answers to the quizzes, his sources are so old that you can't find any of the information anymore.
Terrible class! don't even bother buying the book. It his book and he charges over 100 dollars for it. His lecture videos are so boring and the quizzes are so hard. His material is super outdated and some of it is older than me. This class is a 3 credit course and somehow was harder and more work than my 5 credit course anatomy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! I have been in college for a month and have cried more than once over this class! I have not met a single person who has said anything good about this professor. I spend HOURS studying for this class and yet am still not prepared for his quizzes! Don't take this class unless if you enjoy your sanity!
Took this class over the summer and I have honestly no clue how I survived it. It was heavy and a lot of reading and math, hours and hours of lecture videos. Can´t recommend but know it is mandatory for most majors. If possible, take class with someone else.
Do whatever you can to not get this guy.
I would not recommend this class to anyone. Hour and Hours of lectures along with readings. Lots of math that makes no sense, and his answers never match up with anything you get. He grades so crucial that you will never get an A on anything. His emails that he gives out 3x a day, make no sense and overall, this class was just awful.
He does not teach us anything. Simply puts up old videos about nutrition that are outdated. Gives concept checks of his own textbook that he makes a lot of money on, and has horrible pictures in the textbook so it's next to impossible to get a good grade. Will never take a class taught by him again.
This class requires an insane amount of dedicated time every week to finish assignments. He is a real critique grader. I was warned by a staff member to not let him bully me, which happened anyway. He will push you to your limits, stress you out over an entry-level course, and not be empathetic/considerate at all. I do not recommend this course.
Very rude when responding to emails
Avoid this class if possible. The professor's lectures are painfully dull, and the quizzes are unreasonably difficult. While Unstuck ai could help with study prep, I wouldn't recommend taking this course. The textbook is overpriced and the grading system is unfair.
so awful, overpriced textbook that he wrote and he focuses a lot on nutrition and obesity regarding women in a weird/creepy way. His sources are so outdated that his stats don't match with current ones, it seems easy because it's open note but the quizzes don't match with the book.
Class is super boring and professor seems very arrogant. The required textbook is written by him and it's outrageously expensive. Luckily my friend took the class before and gave it to me.
horrible. my mom died my first year of college (while taking this class) and I missed one assignment, didn't allow me to retake it and gave me a 0, which dropped my grade to a B. Keep in mind I even had accommodations during this time so due dates were not supposed to be strict. i hope his socks are forever damp.
This professor sucks. He wrote his own book for the class and has it way overpriced for the class. This professor makes you watch the same video lecture 3 times. The 3rd time he makes you watch the video, you have to do a video quiz. A video quiz for this class is stupid and lame. He makes everything so hard. The quizzes are unbelievable.
level 100 class my booty bruh. The content and all the work that needs to be done is more like a level 300+ class. Tough grader over stupid stuff. I have not met a single person who is doing well in the class and gets above a C on each assignment. Take any other course I stg.
He is a very harsh grader and assigns very lengthy assignments very often.
Struggling to even give a 1, he was not flexible and doesn't respect his students. Don't take this course with him.
I tried to be optimistic taking this class but had to withdraw. Got D's on five-page assignments I spent 2 weeks writing, even after taking his feedback into consideration. I tried so hard to please him but it simply was not going to happen. Confided in staff members about the issues and they essentially told me I'm not the first/won't be the last.
DO. NOT. TAKE. This should be a lvl 400 class. The teacher wrote the book (it's not good), assigns more work than upper division classes, and will grade you poorly on the most minor things that he never specifies. It's impossible to do good when the teacher expects you to know exactly what he wants without telling you. DO. NOT. TAKE. save yourself
He is the absolute WORST professor I have ever had. I had him for introduction to nutrition which is a 140 asynchronous online course. He wrote his own textbook which the entire class is based on which all of the sources are from years before I was even born. He's incredibly rude over email and never gives good feedback. Do not take his classes.
I took this class to meet my prerequisite course, worst decision I made!!!! The work gave level 300 instead of 100. he wrote his own book that YOU have to pay for, you'll be watching loads of long videos, multiple concepts checks that you'll get most answers wrong on, everything is so outdated. hard to pass a class when the professor is horrible.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! You can save yourself now. He uses a book he wrote that is ridiculously outdated, seriously, it is two years OLDER than I am. Hard to study for all the quizzes, and it was the only thing that counted toward your grades. We did a 4-week-long group project for an online course, which was very hard to manage. He was ZERO HELP!
He is alright. Lots of lectures and readings. The group project is horrible.
This guy is the absolute worst. The concepts he discusses are way above that of a 200 level class and seems like a class an upper level dietetics student would take. This level of information is not needed for a nursing major. He also has tons of typos in his self-written textbook and on all of the complicated quizzes. Do not take class with him!
If you think you're going to take Intro to Nutrition for an easy A on your Science general, think again. The professor is a very strict grader and expects near perfection on chapter summaries. Read the feedback he gives because it will help you earn a better grade. Purchasing the textbook is 100% necessary, you can't pass without it.
awful. not worth your time & money
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. He expects perfection in an intro class. I would recommend taking it during the summer or not at with him ever. He never answers questions and is very straight to the point, honestly rude at points. He picks apart every detail and grades harshly. Definitely is smart but should not be a professor.
This is the WORST professor I've had yet. He was mean, and the class was hard. I took the class like a year ago and haven't stopped thinking about how much I disliked him. His class brought down my GPA even though I tried so hard. If you're thinking of taking this class, DON'T. Take literally any other class. I regret signing up for it every day.
Save yourself and do not take this class unless you absolutely have to! I took this class soley for a gen ed credit, and it has been far more work than any of my core classes. He emails about 5 times a day and emails full novels. He is a very unfair grader. I followed his rubric very carefully and worked extremely hard and received a failing grade
Do NOT take this class with Bissonnette. I put more effort into this class than the rest of my other 12 credits combined. Insanely long readings and professor expects perfect summaries. Very disrespectful in emails. Not sure how he is still a professor. Even advisors say not to take classes with him. Horrible group project. Lost years of my life.
Awful professor. Hard class work based off of his textbook only. not flexible with grades at all. Rude. 100 level class treated like a 400 level class. Do not take his class.
He wrote his own textbook and it is mandatory to buy it to pass the class, not fun.
