Interesting class...hard readings but still pretty easy. Take it! :)
If you like Memorizing, then this is for you... a good prof, bad assessment
great teacher! nice, understanding, intelligent, and adorable
what an awesome prof! so nice, laid-back, smart, willing to help
Awesome teacher...very nice! Makes info. interesting!!!!
Nice guy, but hard tests...class is very boring
Good Class, a little tough, but not bad if you just study for tests.
Great prof., very intelligent, laid back, funny.Tests aren't easy, but manageable
very interesting person. explains the readings. makes coming to class worth it.
One of the best professors!! Very nice, laid back, and interesting! Intelligent
one of the best at UD!! very interesting, motivating, cares about students!!
very personable! hard tests, but showing up to class helps! take the class!
great prof, makes class interesting, very smart guy, tests are a little hard
Great prof, just really know the info & it'll be easy
well read, good guy , tells funny stories, enjoy it- one of UD's best
Awesome! He was definately the best teacher ever!!!!!
Great Professor! Interesting Class, exams are a little hard, but manageable
best prof!!! very interesting class. take 240 w/ him and you won't regret it
This is a class thats definitely helpful. Study+Read=A. Not Hard
sooo nice and sweet, not a fun class, but interesting, will REALLY help you!
GREAT TEACHER!!! Course is definitely hard...take it during Winter Session!
very funny guy, nice and makes class soo enjoyable! lots of reading but not bad
such a nice guy! very funny! one of my favorites! def take this class!!!
he's cool - he watches south park and lectures about it in class.
Super Super nice
Exams are difficult but he's a good teacher.
Great prof, stay interested in the subject and you should do fine, stay current with readings and GO TO CLASS and ask questions!
easy class, just take good notes and memorize notes for exam... exams are easy but a lot of writing... don't take the 3 hour class b/c he just gets really boring after an hour... gets off task very easily... great teacher though!
Cute and funny guy. Loved the class. Don't necessarily have to read, but if u do, it will help. Tests are easy as long as you study and take good notes. He dropped one of our tests. Go to class, and u will enjoy it and do fine.
great teacher, good class
He is great. really funny laid back guy. lots of reading and writing but you will really enjoy the class and learn a lot. really interesting and good discussions.
what a nice guy. this class was EXTREMELY easy too. tests are essay but they arent difficult at all. great teacher, good material and an easy A: take this class! ps i was one of the only non-ed majors in the class
I thought this class material was difficult but he taught it so well and was so helpful. This is the first class at the u of d i actually enjoyed going to and i have had a few. Thank you professor!
This guy is awsome. Hes a great teacher and even fun to just talk to . I personally love the class, but even if I didn't I know he'd make it interesting. He rocks, take the class!
awesome guy, super nice, the class is really interesting, you don't have to read too much but it does help, tests are fair, you need to come to class, totally worth it
Very interesting class, hes a really good teacher but sometimes spends 20 minutes when he could have been to the point in like 30 seconds...tests are hard but he explains the cases very well
Interesting class. Read the cases and go to class and you should do well. Tests can be tricky but he's reasonable. Goes off topic sometimes...but overall he's an awesome professor...very nice.
Horrible!!! Not reasonable at all! Rude!
My absolute favorite professor. I had him over winter session and he took our class (only five ppl) out to lunch! We met at brew ha ha everyday and he was so relaxed and funny and interesting. The class itself is pretty interesting too. Best guy ever.
best class I've had at UD. Shows fun of trying to solve cases and court decisions more like a puzzle than just a list of facts. Class in summer session was four hours long and it flew by - really! As someone studying Higher Ed, I've been frustrated at UD, but this class restored some faith.
I liked this class. Dr. Blacker's easy to talk to or email if you have any problems or questions. Sometimes you do wonder where he's going when he starts on a digression, but class isn't boring.
Pretty easy A. You do not need to do the massive amounts of reading. Just skim. Exam straightforward. He is pretty interesting to listen to. Does not spark discussions very well, but I prefer to listen anyway. Good class!
Boring at times, but a very easy A.
One of the best classes I've taken. The material is very interesting and he's a great teacher. Very easy A. I highly recomend taking this class
Great Teacher!! if you go to class and just look the cases up on line, make note cards and study them you are garnteed at least a B.
He is a good prof. and i learned a lot that I have used in other classes later.
Blacker is a great guy! If you put in a genuine effort, then this class will be great for you. Its really interesting, even beyond the requirment for elementry ed level. He is totally into what he teaches so that makes it really interesting because he knows his stuff! Sit in the front row!
Great teacher!! Straight forward class just study the case info and go to class b/c he will give u the info if you dont read, its an easy B and he is kind of hot too.
Pretty Good Teacher. He is pretty funny and his class is really laid back. He does basically just sit there and lecture though. So it can get a bit boring. There are 3 exams and I would say they are average difficulty. Just study the cases and you will be fine. But overall if your taking this class you wont be disappointed if he is your teacher.
He is a fantastic teacher. He deeply cares about law and makes you want to go to class. He is funny during lectures and throws in South Park jokes and is a funny dude. His tests were not bad just study the court cases and know them in and out and definitely go to class to get his explanation on them. Definitely easy to get a B with some work
This class is very interesting and enjoyable to go to. He is hilarious and is always cracking jokes which keeps the class fun. Take notes on what he says and go to class because he will tell you exactly what you need to know. Try to understand the material and not just memorize it. The tests were difficult because you have to think logically.
BORING! Easy class but Blacker loves to hear himself talk. Goes off on tangents about topics completely unrelated to law and ethics.
Such a nice guy! Can talk for hours. Willing to work with you. Really knows what he is talking about and all you have to do is study before the exam and take notes on what he says. Easy B, very manageable A. Worth taking!
Blacker is such a good guy. He's extremely down to earth, willing to work with you, and sets you up to succeed in the class. Although he says "um" upwards of 150 times per class (I counted on my first day), he is very clear, interesting, and knowledgeable. Take his class, He's awesome
Rambles forever. Can talk and talk for hours. He's a good guy but it's extremely hard to pay attention in class. No textbook. Three multiple choice exams and a really easy presentation you do from your seat. Pretty easy to get at least a B.
My favorite professor so far at UD! He's definitely always considerate of his students. Three exams which are all multiple choice and very straight forward. And one presentation where you can literally read off your laptop from your seat. So easy & VERY interesting class.
One of the nicest and coolest teachers I've had at UD. Leaves exam dates and some details about questions up to student vote. You have to read a lot of cases, but theyre not hard and the exams questions are clear. Not a bad class to fill a law requirement.
Hes a pretty understanding teacher and person. Material is interesting. During semester, theres really not that much work. But once exams come around, you realize you are behind. Tests seem easy but there are trick questions. No textbook. No homework.
Not an easy A but definitely an easy B. Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll do a whole lot better if you go. No HW or textbook and non-cumulative final. Blacker is a really cool, laid-back guy. You can easily argue back points on exams.
No textbook, lots of material. Blacker has the tendency to ramble about the same topic (30-50 minutes about 1 case); rarely gets to all the material for the day. Be ready to do your own research. Tests are difficult because of his wording. It would be easy to argue foragainst most of the questions--"Choose the most correct answer." Don't recommend
Dr. Blacker is a nice guy, but he loves to ramble on and on. It's hard to follow the lectures as he mumbles and speaks pretty fast. There's no PowerPoints to go off of either. There's 3 exams and 1 presentation and those are your only grades. I only took this class to fulfill a breadth requirement.
Blacker is a really intelligent guy who stands in front of the class and just talks about the material with no notes or power points given. His tests are tricky, but if you study and make sure you understand each court case you should do fine. Very interesting class though if you enjoy learning about court cases and the evolution of education.
The class only meets once a week. Each class consists of MANY court cases and before each class, you are supposed to have read and taken notes on them. During class, you go over the cases and nothing else. He spends most of class going over the first few and then rushes through the rest. He actually doesn't teach; the students read what they wrote.
He's amazing, although he doesn't use a powerpoint and only lectures. He's so knowledgeable and he's one of the professors that talks about a lot more than the class, which is awesome. If you take notes and pay attention relatively well, you'll find that he adds a lot of personal stories and he's a really funny guy if you get his type of humor.
Just show up to class more times than not. He knows 401 is a senior seminar that no one wants to be in so he makes it pretty easy. As long as you participate a few times and write a coherent paper, you're set. no exams.
For a 16 person honors class, Blacker was amazing. He's really funny and cares more about learning than testing the material - he amended the syllabus to get rid of what we didn't cover because he'd rather have interesting conversations than follow the syllabus. Very understanding - let me hand in a paper late because I was sick. Would take again.
Blacker is a great guy. He really likes the subject and knows so much about it. If there are things you don't get to in class he will make sure it's only on exams for extra credit. Exams are 50 multiple choice and very easy. The class is long since it meets once a week but he tries to give breaks. Looking forward to taking more of his classes!
He is a good guy who tries to give extra credit. Test questions look like they were written on a gogle docs app on his phone. Too much material for each test and overall lecture is just extremely boring he talks waaayyyyy tooooo mucchhhhh.
You have to present a course case from your seat for 2 minutes once. Then he just speaks about course cases for the rest of class. He lets you out after 2 hours and you can find the information from the cases online. His exams are based off if you can memorize the cases the night before. Very easy class.
Was a fine professor. Talked for 2 hours straight in class. No powerpoints. All information you could look up by yourself. Requires a 2-minute presentation on a case for an easy assignment. Wish there were more assignments in this class and more grades.
didn't enjoy the idea of only 3 exams being the only grades for the semester. topics are difficult to comprehend. exams are confusing. lots of reading. nice guy and enjoyable to listen to stories he has in class. wish there were power points to go along with material.
No attendance policy, ends class early but still a two hour late lecture with no visual aid. No need to go to the class unless your presenting. Grade consists of three exams and one homework assignment which is ten points added to your third exam that brings up your grade. As a breadth not the worst for cramming day of exam just memorize cases.
Professor Blacker was nice and funny but I can't say much about him because I really did not enjoy EDUC240. The exams were very hard for me because I do not have a perfect memory and you must memorize the details, verdict, and noticeable dissents of numerous court cases for each exam. If you take the class, GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS.
Prof. Blacker is super laid back in class and he doesn't really take attendance. Going definitely helps because he'll mention specific terms that are on the tests and taking/adding to your own notes in class is helpful. Other than the 3 exams, there's a short sitting "presentation" but that's the extent of the participation and grading.
Prof Blacker is honestly one of the best profs I've ever had. He genuinely shows that he cares for his students and his class is pretty low-stress. You don't really need to show up, but if you don't be prepared to memorize a lot of cases. 3 exams (50 multiple choice questions) and a small 1-minute presentation
LOTS of readings on court cases for people who dont study law or arent used to reading a lot. A better way to study the material is to just look up youtube videos on the court cases. One small, super casual, presentation worth like 10pts. Three exams with about 40 multiple choice questions. Professor is chill but the class was not for me.
I really enjoyed this course. Lectures were asynchronous and then met at class time to go over material again and for questions. 3 exams and then one small assignment that added 10 points to a test grade (helped me and helps if you do well on exams). Make sure you take notes and you should be fine. Paced in a way where it is up to you.
I never watched his lectures I just read the cases and took notes on them. Even if you're notes are great it's still hard to get A's on the exam. The exams were online and open note but the way questions were worded made them tricky. I needed 0.5 more points for my grade to go from a B+ to an A- and he wouldn't give it to me.
I really like Professor Blacker, but the material is very difficult and the tests are worded strangely. This is easily the most difficult class I have taken. You aren't required to attend lectures, but it's advised because even when you do attend lectures you're not guaranteed to do well on the exams. 3 exams are also the only grades in this class.
We only had 3 exams and one ten-point assignment. The exams were easy if you took notes on his pre-recorded lectures. He lets you use notes and Google. I've never been to a single one of his lectures on Zoom and still received an "A." In his lectures, pay attention to some of the details you wouldn't expect to be on a test. Overall, easy class.
The course wasn't difficult, but you definitely have to watch the lectures or at least read about the court case in order to pass the class. He always added extra points to the tests and gave extra credit!
Prof Blacker's educ240 class wasn't "easy" but it wasn't hard. You definitely don't need to go to class just look at the syllabus and read the cases and take thorough notes on them. tests were on canvas an open note. it was graded on the 3 exams and then you were assigned a case and just had to give a synopsis on it which was 10 free points
He's a cool dude. Does not take attendance, 3 tests that are actually hard but if you review materials and reviews cases you'll do fine.
Graded only by three exams and one small speaking assignment. I mostly stopped attending class after the first exam and ended up getting 95+ on the two after it. Just take notes from Oyez and check the study guide. He kinda just rambles but it can be interesting at times. Exams open note and you get a week to do them. Extremely chill professor.
This class is graded by three tests, which were all online and you're allowed to use Google for answers. Attendance is non-mandatory, but people who show up each week tend to do better. For the tests, just think and consult Oyez and they are honestly not hard at all and usually curved.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! This was the easiest class I a have taken and enjoyed. If you are interested in the topic then this a a very easy class, if you are not interested this is also an easy class. 4 Exams, all online, all multiple choice. Class is easy with or without attending the lectures.
Each week you have 5-10 court cases to review. Then he goes over all of them in class. Lectures are typically two hours so the classes can be long and boring, but it's worth going so that you know what he expects you to know for each case. Most of it was interesting. The tests were all multiple choice, online, open-note so just take your time.
Really cool professor but difficult class. I would not recommend this class as a breadth-- tests are hard. The mean for tests was never higher than 80. Many questions are poorly worded and designed to trick you. For this class, you're graded by 3 tests and 1 easy speaking assignment in class. I'd recommend taking an easier course with this prof.
The professor himself is a very nice person and I can tell he cares about his students but his teaching style is seriously odd. He talked about the cases the whole time which quickly got boring and there were only 3 exams and a small oral assignment that we were graded on. The exams were extremely difficult because it's so hard to keep up with him.
Seems like a cool guy but the class is just a GPA dropper. It is graded on 3 exams, each have 50 questions. I made sure I knew all of the cases before going into these exams and I still felt confused. The exams took me forever to complete because some of the questions were confusing and the answer selections seemed like they were meant to trick you
Professor Blacker is a fantastic guy who is clearly passionate about his teaching. However, his style of teaching is odd. You are graded on three somewhat tricky Exams. You will likely pass the class, but your GPA will tank.
Easy professor. While attendance isnt mandatory, it definitely helps for the exams to take notes on his lectures specifically. I almost never had to google answers, etc, since my notes from his lectures answered nearly all problems. Only graded on 3 50 question non-cumulative exams but they are very easy if you put the slightest effort into them.
Great professor for this more discussion based class. I loved being able to discuss and debate the topics with him and other students. He was very good at letting everyone explore their own ideas but also being very knowledgeable on the topic himself. Grades were basically just you leading the class on a topic once and 2 papers that weren't too bad
Professor Blacker is a knowledgable professor. I highly recommend taking his class as a breadth course or if you are interested in law. Super interesting. He offers one light extra credit assignment. Exams are not easy and you should attend every class. If you take good notes and study them you will do just fine on the 3 exams. Exams are on Canvas.
It was the most chill course I took all semester. This is an easy credit course and requires little to no studying. There are only three exams and they are all super easy! 10/10 would take again.
Prof. Blacker's class is a mixed bag - interesting content but challenging exams. Attendance is key, as is using Oyez and other resources like unstuck ai for study prep. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the work.
