I've never seen a class so annoyed with a professor this early in the semester. Unorganized, seriously cannot stay on topic. The work itself doesn't seem hard. Test questions given in advance, grade based on a few small assignments, tests, and a final paper. I just wish I knew what he was talking about!
If you have absolutely no interest in this class and is just looking for an easy grade, then take him. If actually care about your education and fell like you should be learning then DON'T Take him. He is so unorganized, half the time he doesn't know what he is talking about. I actually wanted to learn unfortunate I didnt learn anything.
Great professor! Took him during the summer. First off, don't waste your time buying the book, it's not needed. Also he rarely lectures except for the first couple days, after that all we did was watch videos. He lets students make up tests whenever they wanted, and gave the test questions a head of time. I got an A and I barely went once a week.
This prof is one of the best, hes cool, funny and has many stories to share. Just a little problem he talks soo much that at times the class seems so boring and so long. You just have to go to every class, do the work, all assignments, papers, &youll have a midterm and final. I mean it is college! so expect it.
I took a class with Professor Bogumil during the short winter session. It's a little overwhelming having so much material packed into a really short time but Professor Bogumil made it enjoyable and a true learning experience. He is interested in student success and does all he can to ensure it. I would love to take another class with him.
He is a little corky and confusing at times...overall I think that if you really try you will do well...just show interest in class..do well on the quizzes...do the paper and you can get an "A"...
i dunno what to say. just get yourself known to him, do the lab requirements, the quizzes and the paper, and its an automatic A. just be aware that its really unlikely you will learn anything. depend on yourself and classmates.
BITTERSWEET. Here's my advice... do not take this class if you can avoid it. You're asking for more stress than you can handle. He expects you to know spss before taking the class and gets very annoyed with having to explain/teach. I did get a B+ and I only did 2/10 labs and didn't do the final paper. Just show up everytime & make sure he knows you

Good professor. Overall an easy class. He is a professor who cares about his student success. I definitely would recommend.
He talks ALOT and really fast but he lectures off his powerpoint and goes on tangents ALOT. His exams are straight out of the book and can be VERY specific. He gives a lot of help if you need it. Good class, learned a lot.
the class is time consuming yet not hard. He gives 4 exams 20 questions. And a 10pg paper due at the end of the semester. Lets you make up one the exams. You need to read the book in order to do great on the exams although no one gets full points. But he does grade curves for each exam. OFFICE HOURS are a must
Teacher is not good at all. He talks and talks about nonsense. you ask him a question and he starts talkin random mumble jumble, then asks if that answered your question and you just say yes to get him to stop talkin. Easy class if you just need the credits but you will not learn anythin worthwhile. He is also a little weird in a psycho kind of way
I would highly recommend NOT taking this professor. He does not lecture based on the book. When it comes time for a quiz he doesn't highlight what parts of the reading will be on the exam. He is very unclear about what is required for quizzes and papers. Waste of my time, waste of my tuition, and I learned nothing about Culture and Personality!
got him after original teacher dropped class, likes to go off on tangents, doesn't follow strict lesson plan, lots of times, students were not paying attention because it wasn't necessary. 4 tests based off four different chapters of book, 3 outta 4 required virtual activities, 2 ec VA, and choice of one final 10 pg paper or cumulative exam
This guy can't teach. Day 1 of class he walked in and started rambling. His class lacked anything that resembled structure. After our class complained to the department chair he started using a power point which was just paragraphs copied out of the book.
His class was online and very straight forward. He is impossible to get a hold of via phone or email. His syllabus is clear, but you have to do it all yourself. His classes are for independent students. Read the book fervently and pray hard.
This guy is some sort of rambling genious. I should have taken the preq courses. I had to read the book to follow him. The test were hard and from the book. Hey, some friends told me to be in for heavy load. Read! Read! Read! Every class. you can't miss or snooze and lose!
Dr. Bogumil us a very bright teacher. students (read the others) planned to slide by tests and disscusion in class on Schindlers List and the Holocaust. They complained when he asked us to to imagine that the evil of the Nazis started with ordinary people, like all of us & could happen again. students refused to imagine they could ever do it, scary
Every class lecture is a random tangent unrelated to the subject. He tries to start arguments in the classroom between students just for discussion sake. I only learned because I studied on my own. Going to class is pointless, but he takes attendance and if you aren't there to sign in you can't do the random assignments.
Great Professor. Yes he goes off into interesting discussions. He's helpful and kind. I got an A. And I am one to procrastinate at times. His quizes and final test are online and he gives you 2 attempts,Now that is legit. So there is no excuse in F'ing up. Yes you need the book for the quizes/test. Oh and yes there is a final paper due.
Do not take this professor for Soc 468. Unclear what is on his tests. It doesn't matter if you know the material; all you need to know is HOW to take his tests. He does a poor job in explaining what the requirements are for the final paper. Don't bother asking questions - he will ramble about what he wants to talk about. Worst professor I've had.
NOT A VERY GREAT PROFESSOR!!! CLASS IS TOTALLY NOT STRUCTURED, DID VERY WELL ON THE TESTS, DID THE VA'S AND COMPLETED THE FINAL PAPER AND STILL GOT A (C) IN THE CLASS, WHEREAS ANOTHER CLASSMATE DID NOTHING AND GOT A (B) WTF?!FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DO NOT TAKE HIM. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This class seemed like a complete waste of my time. I would sit there wondering what he was talking about and why we were four weeks behind the syllabus schedule. He would show up late everytime, take 10 minutes to set up AND STILL ramble on before going into lecture. He once took 45 minutes to answer a girl's question. HORRIBLE
Something needs to be done about this Professor. He is useless and does not even know his own material. He can't explain anything clearly, rambles all the time on the easiest questions possible.
EXCELLENT! Prof. Hey, COL 5X5. IMO FANTASTIC! Check out his grades. He real generous. The angry birds in the room were really zoned out. Class had students who need to learn how read and write. The BEST theory course EVER!!!!!

nice professor, will answer any questions you have. I DO NOT recommend you take this class, it is difficult material and the class discussions have nothing to do with the text book or the class, although interesting. The class itself is not difficult to comprehend: you are making an analysis of an already published data set. You have all semester to work on the 10 page paper analysis. 4 online exams and 1 online final. He read off the PPT so class is pointless but attendance is part of your grade. Talk to him, it'll help your grade if he knows who you are.

Doesn't seem to really care for students. Urban Sociology was more difficult than it had to be. Videos were far more informative than professor was. He doesn't answer questions clearly and majority of class was confused and would ask same questions because he would not answer them clearly. It was very annoying. He was annoying. I do NOT recommend.

This class was unbelievable. try to pay attention to his mono tone boring lectures. hes the most boring and dull professor i have ever had in any school. he has a good heart, he really wants to help his students. his tests are online and you can take em twice but nothing is in the book! book is online, ctrl f wouldnt find anything frm the test ?'s

of the material that should have been covered in class, most material was shown via power point. the tests were, according to the professor, from the publisher. I'm an A student, so I downloaded every piece of digital material for both of his books, compiled them, and used control "F" to search for test answers, and still barely pulled 80s on tests
Great Professor!! He really cares about the students. Lectures very heavy on facts and terms. Me too on the cntrl F. reading all the time. practice the examples in the book. We never had math before except in HiScool. office hours are good. tests are fivve all mult choice. guess c it works for me. work in groups. talk about your problems he listen

His powerpoints are based off the book so you only need to read in order to do good. His tests are very hard though and he doesn't offer extra credit

His lectures were so boring but the class is pretty easy. 4 online tests and one big paper at the end. Few group assignments but very easy. This guy can be a jerk sometimes and makes attendance mandatory. I might take this prof again because his class is pretty straight forward and an easy A if you put in effort.

This class will drive you crazy because he will force you to work for your grade. Catch is - he grades WAY easier than he makes it seem. Put in effort and you WILL receive an A regardless of your test grades. Put up with it for the semester and have it reflect positively on your GPA. Plus he truly cares for his students. Not a bad choice.
Honestly, the most disrespectful professor I've had. Depending on your political views, this class will either be your favorite or like me, you'll dread going to class. His requirements are crazy for the essay; no one knows what they are doing. Tests are pretty intense but they're online. Good luck!

Such an amazing professor! Was hesistant first few weeks but definitely came to understand students. Group work is heavy. 5 tests, one 10 pg paper. TESTS ARE ON QUIZLET. he gave us the option to take the test or just do the paper or both. If you choose to do just one it would count for both grades easy A
says you need a textbook but i never touched it. class was based on 5 tests, 10 pg paper. gave us the option to take the final (score would count for the final test & paper score) just the paper (score would count for the test and paper) or the option to do both. Super easy A. such a nice professor actually get to know him (letter of rec)
You work on paper over the whole semester in groups. Then writing your own paper is a breeze DO NOT COPY the group paper. Paper is difficult like a 400 Psy paper. He catch you on turn it in your get zero points. Lectures are fun + READ the book the PowerPoint wont cover the exams. BTW hes-all over attedance. Do the Extra Credit. Writing a lot!!!
He is a great Professor! The paper is hard, and his lectures are long and sometimes seem like they are not related to the subject but if you pay attention closely you will realize that they are completely related to the topic, you just have to think about the context as it relates to the stories he tells or the subject hes discussing. He rules!
This professor confuses the entire class. On the first day everyone was clue less and he would stress everyone out. He rambles and makes you get into groups and gives the most unclear instructions. Terrible, no one in the class liked him, people who got good grades wrote the good reviews on here. He could care less about his students.
This professor is totally awesome. Prof personally helps everyone in my class with over 80 students. He showed Schindlers list film and wanted us to see that regular people can become evil. He said to never forget that that could happen again like Pittsburgh. Now paper is 10 pgs + ext credit!! gotta work,were not in highscool anymore. Great prof!!

Excell Teacher. We transferred from com college and welcomes are questions. Lots of extra cred. Simple paper with help. Unbelievable he reviews the paper so you know your the grade. You gotta ask questions and groups all in. Kind but some try to slide and get lost. Attendance and participation real. Read before class. 5 test all multi choice great!
This man is very confusing and goes off topic way to much . Also is very rude and talk downs to you when you ask questions. He does not explain things right and blames you for not understanding. He takes attendance in class and has taken in 3 times on certain occasions. The tests are online and open laptop so that is the only good thing .
The Professor is super nice lets students form their own grps. Lots of grp prjs. Everyone loves this teacher. But stds who skip class are lost. Class is 3 hours one day. Gives breaks. This professor honestly talks through his elbows, he will literally talk for the entire 3-hour class period. You ask him one simple question such as, "are the grades posted on canvas." and his answer will be like 10 mins long and he will rant on that the grades are for individual use only and according to the law tells him to now disclose any info.
Highly recommend this professor. Class is very understandable, exams are online & based mostly off the book. This professor wants you to pass and will help you if you reach out. Very understanding, if you're sick or have an obligation he understands if you let him know. He appreciates attendance and does take note of it most days. Not toomuch hw.
Professor Bogumil will help you pass, if you're unsure about taking his class take it. He is super understanding and genuinely cares about his students. Have a regular conversation with him & he is so polite and helpful. I really feel like I learned the material and the class was not boring. He found videos and other things to keep us attentive

Although he is very knowledgeable about sociology, he has very poor communication skills that made it confusing for students to know what he wants in an assignment. He's also rude and passive aggressive to students.

Heavy Lectures, has a test every three chapters. Luckily EVERYTHING IS ON QUIZLET! He runs off topic a lot. Nice guy, for Soc 150 he skipped the final paper for us, but most likely than none he won't do that for you. That paper was going to be hard! You don't have to go to class, I had him every Friday.
The teacher is ok but often talks more about examples pertaining to the lecture than the actual components of what is being tested. The tests are open book and open notes, with a research paper which he has you do in groups (but you have to turn in an individual paper). He gave me an A even though my final total grade was supposed to be a B.
If you are willing to put in a NORMAL amount of effort you will be fine and most likely earn a decent grade. Tests are online, there is some group work but he is helpful if you have issues and available in his office during office hours from my group's experience. Not overwhelming at all, and I feel like I learned a good amount of the material.
Attendance is half of your grade. The final is a 15-page research paper. All quizzes are on a laptop so you can use google the answers. Easy A. Really boring 3-hour lectures with little to no breaks. Please beware for your mental state on Fridays.
I speak for the entire class IMHO PROF is fantastic. CANVAS online tests And massive extra credit. Must read, prof asks question. Heavy discussion. Showed Schindlers List so he's really all in. Maxed props!!!!
The professor is a super nice and caring guy. Unfortunately, his class was very long and boring 3 hour lectures. All of his tests and quizzes were open notes/open computer. Basically guarantees you an A+. We were supposed to have a group project and project paper, but our class was clueless so he ended up only giving us an open computer final.
I learned a lot from this professor. His lectures are just a bit too much. He can go on a rant and not notice. Easy professor I would recommend him for Soc 303. His test are online open book. You don't have to take it in class, but after the test he takes role. Its best if you just take the test in class.
Prof Bogumil is a good person and wants you to get the best grade possible. He will help you as much as you need and is accessible to his students. He is very intelligent, and knows his stuff as well. Just a great human being, and makes class enjoyable. His exams are from the book on canvas and he has a paper which if you follow directions is easy.
This class wasnt that interesting to me but he was very kind and understanding. He would go off topic a lot in class but i didnt really mind. He allows you to take your exams online in class which was cool and you can find most of the answers. He doesnt take attendance only for test dates. he also offers extra credit

A lot of reading. Some don't read. Reading is theory u know whats up with that!!! Discussions at 8 am are EARLY. A greet course for EARLY morning types!
I wish professor Bogumil offered more classes at different times!! He is honestly very fair, the workload is not insane and if you need help ask. He is very accessible via email or his office hours.
He is a very intelligent person, and very nice at times. He helps you if you want help, other than the research paper which I was kind of lost about. You must read the book to pass the tests.
I took this professor for SOC 497 and he did not teach what we needed to know to do the research paper at the end of the year. He cancelled lab and class over six times and he still expected us to know how to do the research paper and use SPSS. He rants during his lectures and never finishes and even when we did not finish, he just continued on.
There was four tests, comprehensive final, VA assignments, and research paper. Tests and final are online however the slides and textbook dont help. There were times he did not lecture on the subject material for the exam or open the notes. He didnt even talk about the paper and if you asked hed get upset. You're on your own. DO NOT take him!
Professor Bogumil is honestly there for you if you need. The lectures were pretty current so the info wasn't super boring. If you read a little bit and show up you can do well. Very doable class, not one of my stressful courses. I would recommend this class and professor.
I got an A with minimal effort but I'm struggling in SOC497 b/c i learned NOTHING!!! All tests are online so if you are good at looking up answers you will do alright. He curves the class HARD! The average grades on tests are Ds and I got 2 Ds, 1 C, and 1 A. No idea how I did on paper but my paper was trash. I only went to lab twice.
Prof is IMHO the best brilliant. Sooo KIND!!! BTW Prof always helping even with the hardest stats like Regressions Multiple and ANOVA . The book is FREEE! Prof believes in the HONOR system he says like West Point. Some students well they cut corners &skate. READ and GROUPS. Tests and a FINAL. BIG Report in groups and then you write your Report .
Rude professor. Says so many unnecessary comments and is passive aggressive. Also contradicts himself most of the time. He would pile on work without any help to his students. Never taking him again.

PROF is the best! Always cares to help you out. Prof has office hours and then some. Prof was happy to explain the paper and I stayed way over, almost 90 minutes!!!! Prof said no problem--I just want everyone to get through and ansered ALL my questions. A REAL PERSON!! Prof gave everyone multiple ways to COMPLETE the course and REDUCED the Report!!

Professor Bogumil wants to see all of his students succeed. He is available outside of class during office hours. If I am being honest, you will, and can pass his class if you put in the work. This is not a class you take to skip and expect to pass. You work for your grade. He is always willing to help you out if you reach out about the material.
I would not recommend if you do not like to read. Every test is based on the textbook and his lectures are not very helpful.

I'm sure Professor Bogumil is a great person however, his style of teaching doesn't make sense to me. He goes on tangents a lot so it's easy to get lost while he's speaking. He's not clear on what the assignments and projects are and isn't accessible outside of the class. If you have to take him as a last resort, just be aware.
stress bc he didn't give any assignments until near the end of the semester, instructions in canvas/email/in-person were not clear, lectures were mostly unrelated tangents/not engaging, book is outdated/not current info. class changed at end: took multiple choice tests, didn't turn in any written assignments. he's smart just did bad this semester
THE PROF GAVE US CANVAS TESTS AND OPEN ALL REVIEWS TO STUDY FOR THE FINAL:) SOME OF FRIENDS:( DISSED HIM CAUSE READING LOAD BEFORE EVERY CLASS JUST 1 OR 2 CHAPS WELL THE DISCUSS WERE GREAT! HE USED TWO MICS, LARGE LONG ROOM, HIM WALKING ALWASY IN THE RM TO LET STUDENTS SPEAK. HE LETS SOME TALK TO LONG ... GREAT CLASS, BK AND BEST PROF I HAD SO FAR!
First, he is not a bad teacher. He is extremely smart and wants all his students to succeed. We were graded on 4 tests and a final. His lectures were informative. We watched several videos relating to each week's topics.
Dr. Bogumil is incredibly enjoyable fun SO many great classes. Office hours always important and he is avaible to help you. Lots of good discusssions answers all questions with examples from today. Tests have all study guides for final gives you options. The best instruct/or/ion at CSUN. Wants all students to participate walks around big rm active!
He wants everyone to pass. His lectures are often confusing and off tangent but he is clearly passionate about the subjects. I didn't use the textbook. All tests were open note. You can redo every test for a higher grade. He is very nice, I would recommend you take him for an easy class.

Prof. Bogumil runs a lively class with engaging discussions. While the readings can be heavy, his use of videos and examples helps make the material click. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for preparing for the tests. Overall, a challenging but worthwhile course.
His way of teaching wasn't really my style while he did do slides he would tend to ramble off. I felt I did not learn much. He is not assignment heavy. For his research paper it was the most time consuming he would have us read our papers over and over again. Sometimes he would sound annoyed. Good luck to anyone taking him next semester!
This professor tends to ramble off during his lectures which made it very hard for me to learn anything. He assigns a research paper towards the end of the semester and he wants it perfectly done. Sometimes he would be in a good mood and other days he would pick on people so it was very challenging to come to class and learn.
Professor Bogumil is a wonderful, caring professor who truly wants his students to succeed. His lectures and slides are clear and easy to follow. He gives 4 exams and a final research paper, but offers great support throughout. He genuinely goes the extra mile to help, making the class enjoyable and manageable.
Professor Bogumil is a great professor I took two of his classes. The quizzes are easy as long as you read the textbook and pay attention to his lectures. He is very kind and wants his students to succeed.
This class felt unorganized which is ironic since its organizational theory. Only graded on 4 exams, a research paper, and final exam. Disappeared for the that last 2 months of class (hope he is okay) but the sub couldn't make sense of his research paper guidelines or syllabus. His lectures put me to sleep but he's very educated and knowledgeable.
