Best math teacher here. He knows his stuff. Very fair. Reviews right before you take a quiz and it's almost exactly the same as his example he just used. No graded hw. easy exams. just like hw problems.hated probability and that's the only bad part of 130

If you have to take Math 90, Mr. Boley is definitely a good choice.

Simply the best. I just wish he taught Stats too. He explains EVERYTHING and is very accessible. He has a great, off-beat sense of humor--he's a total crack-up. Don't put it off on the prof if you don't do your HW and then get bad grades. They're there to teach, you're there to learn. Justdoit!

I think that he explaines things well, however he will cover 3 chapters on one test! Its a lot of math to have to remember. A lot of people droped; more than half the class. He does not collect homework or extra credit. He does curve quizes. I would not recommend this teacher unless you are better than average in math!

if you were to take a class with your friends, math should not be one of them. especially when its a math that u don't know too well ( cuz i know). don't goof off. boley is cool and of course, a good teacher, but STUDY STUDY STUDY, do well on your quizzes, and and REALLY REALLY well on your tests (they cover alot). keyword: STUDY!!! Mr. Boley was a big part of how I got over my math phobia, excelled in math 90, and developed a genuine love of the language of mathematics. He is extremely patient, very clear, gives a lot of examples to help explain concepts, and shares funny stories about applying math to real life. I highly recommend him!

Awesome course, great professor. Willing to explain problems that arise. He really understands that an hour and 10 minutes of math is too long for anyone to handle and will keep you attentive by telling funny stories.

Great guy. takes the time to explain the material. Loves to try to keep you awake in class by telling you kool little stories. Hes approachable and knows his stuff... just make sure to count all your pnts on your quizzes, remember that no one is perfect. But overall a great instructor and try to take him when ever you can.

David Boley is an excellent math instructor. He has a good attitude and is willing to help his students. I took him for Math101 (which I really shouldnt had taken seeing I need Calc now) and am going to take him for Math121. I always felt comfortable in his classes, not intimidated. He doesnt have that high horse attitude. Sense of humor as well!

took him in the summer. he was really patient and if you looked unclear about something he would ask and he wouldn't move on until he felt everyone understood. plus he had funny ways to remember formulas and had funny stories and examples to relate to math

Pretty clear on teaching the material & if you don't understand why he explains it in another way that might be more understandable for you. Tests are over what he teaches & weekly quizzes. Only thing I didn't like was the final was ****ulative & there wasn't enough time to take it & get a decent grade. I was an A student until I hit his class.

It's not like I didn't know my material since I got a B+ in Math 70, but he doesn't give enough time to take tests or quizes. I normally finish most of the problems, but I'll earn a mid-C because I'd miss a minus sign in my final answer or something since I'm rushing through everything and still, I cannot even finish the test. Btw, he's funny.

The class is anything but easy, but this school has the most difficult math program of anywhere. If you can learn it here, you know it for sure. Boley moves fast through the problems so it's easy to get left behind. Just don't miss any days of class and you'll be fine.

Mr. Boley is an excellent teacher!! He clearly presents math concepts and will do all he can to help his students. He is accessible via phone and office hours for extra help. He has a great sense of humor too and makes math as fun as he can for those of us that are poets. I had to work a bit harder to pass but I learned more too.

He is super interested in your success as a student - but only if you are. If you take notes in class, study and do the homework you will pass this class. He goes slow and makes sure the topic is understood before moving on. Great prof!

Really enjoyed Mr. Boley. He is strict but willing to help if he sees you are willing to learn. His class is no joke but you will enjoy it. You do not need to turn in homework but his quizzes are based on your homework. Oh yeah, he blocks the board. :}

Boley helped me love math again. Thank you, finally a respectable math instructor at MJC. The class is well structured, he is a pleasant guy to be around, and his expectations are crystal clear. No jokes or surprises in this class. Oh and for the third time, the answer is 1/9!

Prof Boley's 121 is great because he fully understands the material. His pace is slow and the format of his class is user-friendly: there are several quizzes, once given per week, which he compiles to form a few tests. What's more, he's generous with time spent at the start of each class answering homework questions.

Mr Boley was great! He does have a sarcastic attitude, but that doesn't detract from his teaching. He does work fast on the material, but is more than happy to answer questions during his office hours. If you don't mind a challenge for Math 90, this is the teacher for you!

A very good teacher with a flawed teaching method. The idea of assigning homework and not collecting it only deters students from actually doing it, thus they get a lower grade in the class. Regardless of his teaching, he is quite a humorous teacher and can actually make you want to come to class.

in spring of 08 i took math 90 with a different teacher and failed anlong with 75% of the class. this semester i took this class and i have got an A on all the test but one (just missed a A by two points) b's or better on al my quizes and i really do not even have to show up to the final to pass the class. great teacher and extremly funny. take him

Professor Boley is awesome! I absolutely hate math, did maybe 50% of the homework, but paid attention to every single lecture and I got a B on every test and in the class. As long as you pay attention to his lectures, you will do great. He really goes over what you NEED to know to do well in the class .

Ok teacher. He moves far to fast through material, and does not really review for test, though he does give you all your tests and quizzes back to study. He has a strange sense of humor, once he told the class to drop out of college and move to somalia to become pirates, because thats where the money is at. Anyway, I recomend.

I took Mr. Boley during the summer and I really don't have anything negative to say about him. The guy is probably one of the few decent Math teachers teaching at MJC. It was my first time being introduced to the Math 90 material, but I ended up with a B. The only downside to him is he is very strict when it comes to tardiness and cell phones......

Good professor! Quizzes every Thursdays. 3 exams, 1 Final. No 3x5 formula card or sheet for any exams! You really have to memorize and know what you're doing! Facing the whiteboard, sit on the left side, he blocks the board a lot on the right. VEVRY helpful when you have questions. Study in-class notes for the quizzes. Study quizzes for the Exams.

I took him over the summer, he was easy I suck at math and got a B! 10 pt quiz everyday but he makes them easy, you get your lowest thrown out. Hes strict about attendance and youre allowed 3 the 4th he'll drop you. YOU MUST HAVE A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR! No homework, but he gives you assignments that are a big help to do as a form of studying.

I took him over the summer for math 90; math is not my strongest subject so i was especially hesitant to take it over the summer but Boley was great & I earned an A. He assigns homework that is not mandatory but if you do it, it makes a world of difference. He's pretty specific on what he wants you to know and will help if you have any questions.

Boley is absolutely the best math teacher I've ever had. I tried taking it with another professor and it seemed impossible to get a good grade. But with boley he makes it super easy. I had him this semester for Math 70 and 90. I really liked it because he explains everything really good. This course goes by really quick because you are done with Math 70 and 90 in one semester, so if you're a really busy person you shouldn't take this course. His test/quizzes are not too hard. Really good teacher :)

Great teacher. I was in the math 70 and 90 fast paced class. We had a quiz everyday but he went over everything that was on the quiz right before we took it. The tests are basically what was on the quizzes and her reviews before them too. Very clear instruction and lectures. Homework was not mandatory. I am bad at math but he made this class so easy to understand. I wish I could have taken all my math classes with him.

I took his accelerated math course just for the 90 portion and it's really easy. I'm not a math person, but he's a good teacher he's just really fast. It's kind of like summer school in high school. He doesn't grade the homework and I didn't buy the book and I passed his class with a B. He's very fair and he's rather entertaining.

Boley's method of teaching for the math 70-90 course was fantastic. Review yesterday's concepts fist half of the class, quiz on it, and learn new ones for the second half. Everything was fast paced but for the most part the note taking provided sufficient information to study with. He's a realistic guy with an awesome sense of humor.

Boley is an exceptional math teacher, he makes learning math very easy. Even though this is a face pace class, if a student is having trouble with a problem on the board he would go over the whole problem again until the student understands it. HW is not mandatory, but he will go over problems from the hw the next day if their are any questions.

I have been terrible at math my entire life and have been in tutoring multiple times. I took Mr. Boley during the summer for Math 90 and he is an exceptional teacher. He is extremely helpful and made math easy to understand. I ended up getting an A. I would HIGHLY suggest taking his class.

Best math teacher i have ever had, if not just plain teacher. He is hillariously endearing in a loveable old grump-but really a softy-kinda way. A little impatient but willing to help. The class is set up really fairly imo, do the work it's clear what you have to do. The class is hard he's just teaching it and I think he's great and clear.

GREAT teacher, but on a personal level, he's not always fair. He didn't allow me to take one test early, but he let others take the same test early.... But overall, EASIEST class I've ever taken. Then again, I love math! :D I really do recommend him. He's a great teacher. I'd take him over again if I had do. I got two A's in one semester.

So long as you go to class, pay attention, take good notes, & study before tests & exams you'll do fine. It is NOT an easy class, but it IS doable. Lectures are very well done and subject matter is explained thoroughly. Study notes for quizzes. Study quizzes for exams. Study everything for final. Textbook is hardly used and homework is not graded.

Seriously the easiest math class Ive ever taken! I'm an English major so I suck horribly at math but with Boley he made it so simple I passed with an A. He shows simple ways in solving problems and comes up with catchy phrases to be able to remember the process in solving the complex ones. Very funny but he is strict on attendance, so be on time!

Your grade is based off quizzes, once a week every Thurs and the four exams. Your lowest exam score is exchanged with your final's score if you do better than your lowest exam score on your final. He explains pre-cal stuff VERY clearly and makes it seem SO easy! He will tell you whats on the quizexams in lecture. Always do hmwrk for practice!

Great instructor! If you show up to class you will have no problem passing the class. He gives a quiz every class but he goes over it before he gives it out so you know what to expect. He only moves along when he knows everyone is following his instruction. He is very clear about how to solve each problem. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

I loved this class! Mr. Boley is honestly very fair except for the no coffee in the classroom rule. lol. But overall he taught math very clearly and will repeat any problems you need. Study for the tests and you will get a good grade. Awesome teacher, cares about our futures.

BOLEY IS THE BEST. He makes math as clear as possible to you and has a very clear fair grading/testing schedule. If kids in high school had Boley they would never have to retake Algebra every again. One of the really great math teachers at MJC. I had him for a math 70/90 combo course and i currently have him for math 121. He excels at keeping it simple and teaching the subject material. He's really funny too.

Took the 70/90 combo and he was amazing! Everything was so clear and easy to understand. If you didn't get it he would go over it again for you! Mini quizzes everyday which sounds horrible but really is just good practice for the tests. He goes over everything he will put of tests and quizzes before you take them. WOULD TAKE AGAIN.

Going to take him for 122 next semester. Loved his lectures but he makes a lot of mistakes at times when he works out problems which gets a little frustrating. There are weekly quizzes but he only quizzes you on what you've learned in the prior week, never something you've never seen before.

I was glad I took Mr. Boley's class and able to get into it. He explains every single problem clearly, and he would stop whenever you're stuck on one. Homework isnt graded Your grade is determined by test and quizzes. There is a quiz every week 3 test and the final. He goes over everything in class but if you dont understand something you could either ask during class or do the hw and ask next class. He also does test review most of the time giving you everything you need to know for the test.

Really great class. I liked everything about it. Clear lectures and simple to understand for both audio and visual type learners. Prepare to take a quiz every day, but if you do the work, it's very simple. Professor Boley is an all around great teacher.

He is a really good professor. He gives homework everyday but doesn't correct it and uses the homework problems in his daily quizzes which were easy. Very good at explaining math in depth, I really understood why I was applying formulas. He jokes around a lot which makes the atmosphere in class really nice.

The best professor I have taken! My first semester back I took his math 30/90 combo class for STEM majors. He is extremely helpful!! I passed both sections of his class, lecture is mandatory, missing one day could set you back for weeks. Attendence is a MUST, even one minute late is a tardy. Found this very helpful for the students who were on time

He comes off kind of mean, but he's very open to helping anyone who needs it. Homework is not turned in and he tells you everything that will be on the quizzes, tests, and final exam! He is very organized with his class structure

This was my second time taking Math101. Going into this class I was afraid because the first time I had taken this class I had failed. However, Professor Boley made it look easy all you have to do is take good notes during his lectures and study. Homework is optional because it isn't graded, but quizzes and exams are. Put in the work you'll pass.

Don't skip class and be on time! He cares if you show you care, willing to help you understand the material during office hours. The material is tough but he makes it manageable.

He is a very straight up old school professor. You do not need to buy the textbook if you pay enough attention in class and go over your notes. I was a little nervous as this was my last math class and wasnt sure if I would pass because Ive always been bad at math but Professor Boley really made it clear and allowable for everyone to pass if they put in the effort and studied.
