Dr. Bridges is an amazing professor. He strives to ensure that all of his students understand the material and makes himself available to personally tutor students. He is one of those rare professors that love teaching and helping their students.

I like him. His lecture exams aren't hard, it's the stupid labs and lab exams that are hard. I'm not sure if he has anything to do with the labs though. People in BIOL 201/202 have nothing to complain about because they don't have labs.

dr. bridges was my favorite teacher last year. His accent is cool and helped me pay attention. Cool, funny old guy who definitly knows what he is talking about.
Overall a really nice guy, fun teacher and whatnot. But his exams are INCREDIBLY hard. If you dont need Bio 203 for your major, dont take it. And if you do...i'm sorry!!
He does a good job trying to make sure you understand and his attendance quizzes only help.
very intelligent, very respectable
I think that Dr. Bridges makes a very difficult class very interesting and enjoyable!
Very difficult material but he taught it well and was always willing to give study sessions and extra help whenever needed, which was quite often
Will accuse you of cheating when you did not and you can not prove that you did not and therefore lose 100 points.
He's is the best anatomy prof! He really knows his stuff and would do anything to help you!
BORING, but nice accent
DR. BRIDGES IS BY FAR ONE OF THE MOST HELPFUL PROFESSORS AT PURDUE AND I TRULY ENJOY HIS CLASS!
He was incredibly smart and knew and stuff. Very helpful too!!
Old Guy
My favorite class all year. I want to be a TA because I liked it so well.

He's my favorite professor, he's really funny
D. Bridge is the most amazing professor!! I love his British accent and he is so intersting to listen to. Though, his test are hard, I still love him!
He was the best instructor I've had in college (and I'm going on my fourth year). He's tough, but I learned so much from him.
Awesome
His accent is so sexy!!
AWE I LOVE THIS MAN! i want him to be my grandpa! goooood teacher although the material is hard, he makes it cool cuz his sexy accent!
Best teacher at Purdue hands down.
He really wants to help students succeed in his classes!! =)
Most helpful bio prof ever!
Best class ever! I learned so much. You MUST READ the lecture notes.
AMAZING!!! He is so friendly and approachable. Will meet anytime with you outside of class to explain something if you don't understand. Attend the lectures, the bonus points help! He is a very knowledgeable professor and if you are willing to learn he can teach you so much! Need to study a lot for this class though!
Dr. Bridges is the best professor I've had at Purdue. He's entertaining and genuinely interested in helping students learn..and gives a ton of extra credit. You'll do well in this class if you really want to.
I've never been so excited to go to a 7:30 lecture. He is definitely the best professor at Purdue. The course is difficult naturally, but he makes it worth it!
Dr. Bridges is the coolest guy ever... we have over 600 people in our class, but he gives out his home phone number for any questions.
he is amazing. very helpful and interesting. gives ample extra credit opportunities and shares many examples to make difficult concepts easier to understand and more interesting. :D
Bridges is a very good professor and he knows how to explain difficult things very well! I love how he makes the text book for the course; it's very well written!
The cutest little man with a British accent ever!!
D. Bridges is the best anatomy teacher ever! His accent was awesome, he was really really nice and helpful. The class was hard but he helped us through it!
Bridges is a good professor but tests require an enormous amount of studying.
Dr. Bridges' class is EXTREMELY difficult--prepare to spend a huuuge amount of time studying! lecture exams are very difficult. However Dr. Briges himself is very approachable, extremely intelligent and genuinely cares about his students.
I was pretty interested in anatomy, however, he made it extremely boring and he can be rude to students as well.
Wonderful, sweet Professor. He does whatever he can to help his students out with any questions. His class is challenging and forces you to know the material but it will help you out in the long run. I would love to take another course with him.
This class is challenging but Bridges is VERY helpful. It is possible to get an A (85%) with a lot of work. Attendence is extra credit and he offers a lot of extra credit in 204. I love his british accent!
Dr. Bridges is a very knowledgeable professor. His exams are very straight forward and for the most part easy. It not even close to being as hard as most of the people make it seems to be on here
Dr. Bridges is possibly the most knowledgeable biology professor I have ever taken a course from. He not only explains the material with enthusiasm but he also helps when you are a little (or a lot) lost. He never fails to give extra practice exams for tests and he even has study sessions planned out. I hope everyone takes one of his courses.

Dr. Bridges was an amazing professor!
Best professor I've ever had, hands down. Class was extremely interesting and an A is completely attainable as long as you put the time in to study. 16+ hours per exam was necessary, but the exams were definitely fair. The sheer amount of information to memorize is all that made it challenging.
you need to spent a lot of time in this class reading and understanding the materials. but getting an A is definitely possible. and he is the coolest teacher ever with a British accent and texas belt. he is almost 80 and i will never forget when he said "OMG" in class. he is like the grandpa i never had..!
Very hard class. It's for sure a weed-out class for any Nursing, Athletic Training, Health-profession class. Bridges and his crew is always available to help you. If you have problems, TA's are always there to help you succeed.
Good and funny lecturer. Not sure why it keeps getting rated as a "weed" class as nothing in the class requires critical thinking- just pure memorization. Buy lots of notecards for this class and put in the time to memorize all the terms. Also- don't buy any of the optional textbooks, totally not necessary, only buy the lecture/lab manual.
I loved this class and professor. The tests are difficult, and if you get behind it is hard to catch up as there are a lot of things to do and study for each week, but the class overall is great!
He's a funny professor and always uses the funniest British expressions. The class itself is pretty difficult if you're not willing to put in a lot of work. It's pure memorization and I found the tests to be extremely challenging.
204 is more difficult than 203. They make up for this though, by offering more bonus point opportunities than in 203. I have an A in the class and I never attended the lecture. Just study the lab/lecture manuals for all the tests and you will be fine.
You definitely need to put tremendous works in this class, but Dr.Bridges is so great! He is always there to help you! I did better on lecture than on lab.
Biol 203 and 204 are supposed to be hard, but if you put the time in it can be very manageable. Plus you only need an 85% for an A or a 75% for a B and so on. To get a B you can fail the quizzes in lab but get 100% on the worksheets and get a B in lab, then just get B's on exams and boom: B in the class easily. An A is very achievable though.
Dr. Bridges is a great professor who is extremely knowledgable and helpful. He does his best to help students succeed and understand the material. I enjoyed this class and even though it requires a lot of work, it is much easier to put in effort for a professor who cares about how you are doing in his class.
Dr. Bridges is great. He was extremely helpful whenever I needed assistance. The thing is with 201, 202, 203, and 204 is that you need to seek out help if you want it because of the large class size. Dr. Bridges is very welcoming to questions and makes himself available to you. The one regret I have is that I didn't ask more often.
Definitely a weed out class. Tests are ridiculously hard. Help is there, but not at the most convenient times. Nice guy, but he seems to expect all his students are at med school.
Dr. Bridges is the best professor I've ever had. He explains everything clearly (with his awesome British accent), he has literally 8 hours of office hours each week, and he makes very fair tests. My biggest piece of advice is to take the lab with the lecture. It helps reinforce the material and pads your grade!!
I love Professor Bridges! He knows his stuff. But his classes are hard!! He makes you work for you grade, that's for sure.
He is a very good teacher, but this class requires alottt of work and time.
Dr. Bridges is an amazing professor! The class is very dense and there are a lot of points but it makes learning the material easier.
Bridges is adorable, funny, and gives a grandpa-vibe. The course is probably the hardest you will take during the semester. You have to WORK. Like studying everyday. I thought I was fine for 203, thought I got a B going into the final. I calculated my grade- D. Constantly grade check. Don't just think you're ok. DO THE OBJECTIVES, they help.
Dr. Bridges is an amazing professor- Truly one of the most helpful professors I have ever had! His class is hard just because there is so much material, but if you take advantage of all the help he gives you, it is doable!
Very good professor but the class is really difficult even when you study all the time. this is a top-priority class as in, you need to put a lot of time into it.
His British accent makes the lectures worth going to. The tests are hard. DO ALL OF THE OBJECTIVES. Go to lectures to get extra credit
Bridges is the best and possibly the best professor I will ever have. He does everything to benefit his students and is very intelligent in his field.
He is the cutest man ever! He cracks jokes, and has an accent, but easy to understand. This class isn't a joke though. It's tough, and there is 5 quizzes a week, so you are studying all the time. There is a curve based on points. Just stay on top of this class, and you should do fine.
Bad, just bad. Stay away at all costs.
He was awesome. He gives you everything you need to do well in the course you just have to put in a lot of time and effort. Great teacher but makes you work for it
Dr. Bridges was a great professor. The class is designed in such a way that, as long as you are prepared to work, you can succeed. One must read the textbook material every single day and get as ahead on the material as possible. I never did the objectives; I just thoroughly and consistently read the textbook. Bonus points are offered too.
Dr. Bridges is great, and it's not just because of his British accent. He does an AMAZING job teaching, and his lecture notes are beautifully and thoroughly written. He gives lots of bonus points, BUT you need to be prepared to read his notes EVERYDAY and to work very consistently and diligently. You cannot procrastinate in this class.
Professor Bridges is an amazing professor but this course is no joke, you will have to study and study hard and long. Get the required text BEFORE lecture one and read lecture one before class to have an idea of what you're walking into. Always read the lecture notes before the lecture. Flash cards will be your best friend.
Dr. Bridges is my favorite professor since coming to Purdue. You can tell that he loves teaching this course (the books we use are HIS notes, and they are very well written). This course is NO JOKE. He isn't lying when he tells you to study at least two hours a day, 7 days a week. I loved the material we learned, just a lot of effort and time.
Although this class is difficult, this teacher really takes the extra effort to make sure you get all the help you need. Make sure you keep up on the reading as well, it's important to stay on top of the reading in this class. 30 minutes to an hour of studying per night can save you from a world of pain while studying for the exams.
Dr. Bridges has been my best professor here. He's great at departing all of the knowledge that he has to students. It's most definitely a hard class, but when you get done you will know everything there is to know about the human body. Write the lecture objectives in great detail and then memorize them.
Bridges is by far my favorite professor on this campus. But this class is intense. You have to read and memorize virtually every page of the book. But you'll be thankful that there's so many points available in the class... it's the only thing saving you from doing poorly. The exams are extremely hard, but the class (including the lab) is great.
One of the best classes I've taken at Purdue! I was scared to take this class since some of my friends had taken it and failed. THIS CLASS IS A LOT OF WORK BUT IT IS DOABLE. Keep up with objectives or do what I did and split with a friend! He is an amazing professor and clearly knows his stuff.
I really struggled with this class first semester. It is very hard work, and the content matter is difficult. Dr. Bridges is a sweet old man but his exams will make you want to cry. That being said I adjusted my study habits and pulled out an A in the spring semester. I made flashcards for every chapter and started studying about 3 weeks in advance
BIOL 203 and 204 are my favorite two classes I have taken at Purdue University. Dr. Bridges is an amazing professor and he loves and cares about what he is teaching! I would definitely recommend taking this class as a sophomore or junior, NOT as a freshman! This class is rigorous and requires a couple hours of studying a day!
Great lecturer, if you read the lecture notes before coming to class you will do fine
Prof Bridges is one of my least favorite professors. His lectures are pointless, but they are mandatory. He will not hesitate to give you lecture material that day of the exam. He hasn't been helpful at all. The only way to pass this class is if you make it your life. He makes it way more difficult than it should be. Overall, just a bad professor.
Great Professor
Best professor I've had at Purdue! He really makes you work for your grade but you will know the human body inside and out after you're done. Read the notes before going into every lecture to make it a lot easier on yourself.
Easiest class i've taken. Only need an 85% for an A. Didn't go to the lectures cuz i didn't need the extra credit
Dr. Bridges teaches this class very well. However, his tests are impossible if you don't study 1-2 hours per day. He clearly states this in his syllabus, but I didn't take it seriously and ended up getting a C in the class. So take my advice and study a little bit every day.
One of my favorite classes I have ever taken. I would recommend taking the class not as a freshman. There are 6 quizzes a week between lab, post-lecture, and post lab. I came in thinking this was going to be the hardest thing ever but came out with a solid A. As long as you study a week in advance and make it a top priority, its not bad at all!
Easily one of the best professors I've had at Purdue. He is so passionate and knowledgeable about everything he teaches; I mean come on, the man writes his own 'lecture notes' (It's a textbook don't let the name fool you). I can definitely be challenging but it's also one of those classes that you will recall information from for years to come.
An AMAZING prof and a sweet man! BIOL 203 is my favorite class I've taken. People complain about how hard it is because they don't want to keep up with the work. There's just a ton of memorization with each lecture, but as long as you do it as you go along, you'll be fine for the exam. Don't put it off till the last second, or else you won't pass:/
Dr. Bridges is the sweetest old man ever!! He is so intelligent and passionate about what he teaches. This class is very time consuming and involves a ton of memorization, but if you put in the time you will be fine. You'll know everything you can about the human body by the time it's over
Great Professor, he really cares about you learning the material and doing well in the class. He's funny and you can really tell that he knows what he's teaching, aside from the fact that he wrote the textbook. I don't recommend this for freshman, prior knowledge is a plus, be willing to put in work and time, SI sessions are extremely helpful.
This man is not up to speed when it comes to technology or anything really. Just take BIOL301 and 302
Dr. Bridges is a really nice Professor but youll definitely have to work your butt off for this class. Not a course for freshman and unless youve taken an anatomy/physiology course before it might be a struggle. The only advice I got from him was to do the objectives which personally never helped me.
I came in with some knowledge, but I was interested in the topic. I rarely went to lecture (7:30 ew), but Boilercast was a HUGE help. Read the lecture notes! This course is fair and well structured. Most of the exam questions focus on application rather than regurgitation, so comprehend the material!
Good professor, but tough class.
A TON of work. Don't fall behind because the class goes fast and you won't do well on the exam. A really good professor overall though.
Wonderful professor. Really cares about his students and their success in their class. Its a ton of work but it pays off and you learn a lot.
DO NOT take this class, take 301/302 instead. This is much harder than 301/302 and 301/302 is graded more leniently. I took both and I am telling you from experience that 301 is the better choice.
Hes a really great and awesome old man! Professor Bridges is a great and knowledgeable professor, but his class is rather intensive. If you do exactly what he lays out for you, youll do good in the class. Its very intensive, but still straight forward, so treat it as such.
His class is one of the best classes I have ever taken. If you don't take notes or pay attention in lecture, more than likely you're not going to do well. He does everything he can to teach things simply even if it isn't simple at all, and answers questions quickly. He's funny, and an amazing professor.
Learned a lot, but gotta work for it. All you need is boilercast and textbook. Multiple quizzes/week, lots of EC. If you don't need to take the lab, DON'T (it's a grade tanker; completely unnecessary). Stay on top of the reading. This is NOT the kind of class you can cram for; need at least 4 days to study for exams. Worthwhile class and prof tho.
Bridges is great- The dedication his course requires will help you throughout the rest of your college career. Stay on top of the work, study for recitation quizzes and in lab quizzes. Make sure you look through his exam practice problems and youll be fine!
Dr. Bridges is probably the smartest man I know. This class definitely requires a lot of work to have a good grade in but it's enjoyable and he teaches the material so well.
When I signed up to take this class, my advisor tried to get me out of it and told me "Imagine this class is like going to get Ice cream, you get there, walk in, and then Muhammed Ali jumps down from the ceiling to hit you in the face". It's true. You learn so much but you need to be ready for it. Dr. B is fantastic, you just need to be prepared.
BIO203/204 was the hardest course I have taken thus far. The course requires lots and lots of dedication and effort, with 6 quizzes a week (2 lecture, 1 recitation, 1 pre-lab, 1 in lab, and 1 post lab) you must stay on top of things and know when things are due. Finding friends to work / collaborate with was a saving grace for me during the year.
Had the honor of taking the second semester of Anatomy with Dr. Bridges -- once again, he is a true GEM. Intuitive and easy-to-read textbook, well-thought-out lectures. Weekly quizzes require you read the chapter/have book next to you. Lots of room for error, but try your best to do well on exams. If you do the lecture outlines, you will get an A.
Dr. Bridges is by far my favorite professor at Purdue. He works hard to make sure his students understand the material. You don't have to go to class, but he has clicker questions during class, that serve as extra credit at the end of the semester. You can always email him or talk to him, and he is happy to help. It's a lot of work to do well.
One of the most challenging classes I've ever taken, but I mean that in the best way. You have to have a sense of self-discipline in order to succeed in this course. Do not wait until the weekend before to study for an exam, STUDY AS YOU GO!!!
Unless you truly care about the material covered in class and are willing to work your butt off, don't bother taking this class. I took it as a graduate student and found it to be a weed-out class. A lot of students did poorly on his lecture exams because they started studying the two days or even the night before. Make sure to study as you go!
Bridges is a great professor, obviously very knowledgeable on the topic. Clicker questions in class are great study tools, and he will often point out ones that are likely to be test topics. Exams are difficult, but if you have a good grasp on the information you should be fine.
Dr. Bridges is a great human being overalltruly cares about students, education, and teaching. Expect the following: tons of reading from a textbook in preparation for lecture exams (2 midterms and final), 5 quizzes per week (in-class recitation, in-lab quiz, online post-lab quiz, two online post-lecture quizzes), and two hard lab practical exams.
Dr. Bridges is overall an amazing human and cares so much about his students. Taking this class freshman year was tough but it prepared me for future classes that heavily rely on reading and studying on my own. Heard this might be his last year... but he sure has left a legacy on bio students at Purdue.
This class is A LOT. PLEASE take this advice for lecture: read before lecture and annotate, take notes during lecture, add annotations after lecture. For lab: read lab and annotate, LOOK AT STRUCTURES/DIAGRAMS, read back over to prepare for quiz. PLEASE DO THIS and DO NOT FALL BEHIND. You'll do great if you manage your time. Reading is not optional
