He is obviously very knowledgeable in this field, but he has a very dry teaching style. The only grades we received were from 2 tests, 1 final, and 1 paper...so if you get one bad grade, you're basically screwed. He also writes very little on the board, so it's difficult to have good notes to study from. Overall I wouldn't recommend this teacher.

Allbeit an interesting subject, Dr. Burke take the fun out of it. He seems to be weirdly obsessed with mentioning his ex-wife, and constantly drops the fact that he has a PHD from the university of Minnesota. He would rather be teaching at a university and it shows. He expects graduate-level work. If you are looking for an easy class, not this.

I find it incredible how someone who is certified to instruct students can fail so miserably at it. Does not understand that there's more to learning than simply spewing out words from a textbook. Grades with an iron fist and has a strong and seemingly pointless strictness on format (for everything). Take at your own risk.

Here's the thing about Mr. Burke: He is a very, very intelligent person, but why, and how, he became a teacher is beyond me. He should be traveling the world, or perhaps working for a museum. His lectures drag on for ages, and it really is hard to stay focused. Did I learn? Sure. Could it have been better? Absolutely. He needs to loosen up.

Does not like questions, and answers are not clear either. Does not review or give ideas on what is on his tests. Grades with an iron fist. Don't take his class.

He is a horrible professor. He does not know how to lecture properly, he goes off on tangents about his life. He does not help in review for exams. His papers are ridiculous... if you forget to cite properly it counts as plagiarism and the paper is a zero and you get reported even if it's a genuine mistake. i went for help and no help was received.

There comes a time in every mans life when they are faced with a choice. Many choose to take Philosophy with Burke, but very few will succeed. Robert Frost once said, "Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Take this review as a warning. Robert Frost was wrong. Worst Class Ever!

Burke is very monotone and uninteresting. He lectures on about how he has no one in his life and told the class how upset he was when his cat died next to a Buddha statue. I was earning a C+ in his class. He refused to tell me what my grades were for the final and research paper. I emailed him several times and received no response. Do not take him

taking his class has been the worst decision in my high school career so far! He is RUDE to students, and uninterested in helping you out with anything!! It's like pulling a tooth getting him to answer a simple question of yours. Pop quizzes on material not even covered. He doesn't review or help review for any tests! beware. He ruined my GPA.

Dr. Burke seems like a nice guy, but he likes to see himself as superior to the student, which is his downfall. He does not respond to emails, he intentionally has questions on his quizzes that are not covered in class or in the book. He doesn't do power points, and he cannot command the classroom. Do not take Dr. Burke, he will ruin your GPA.

Dr. Burke likes to trip his students up. There's a superiority complex involved with this teacher. His passion is clearly the Eastern philosophers, which doesn't come into the course until the last third of the semester. Read your chapters, they're short. Ask clarifying questions. He won't respond to emails, but he will make office appointments.

Dr. Burke is a very educated person and knows his material, he knows the entire book by heart, but his tests are pretty tough he only has two (mid-term and final). has seven pretty easy quizzes as long as you pay attention in class. He is very tough on having the term paper submitted on time, but he will not give them back in a timely fashion.

This is before he grades for content, in a class where content is the most important thing. Horrible way to teach, overall very bad teacher.

David Burke has a pleasant personality, but he is not a good professor for Philosophy 101. He teaches his 101 course like it is a graduate course. I earned the highest grade in my class, a B. He does not do a good job relating philosophical concepts to real world experiences. He is lecture heavy, and digresses often.

Mr. Burke was very disrespectful to some of the students that were in my class. For example, he was very rude to a girl who had gotten up to use the restroom, he told her she was being "disruptive, annoying, and a nuisance to his teaching." This made the classroom environment very hostile. He would also yell at students for asking questions. Bad!
