Labor intensive - don't take this class unless you have lots of time to spend on homework and studying. Askes lots of subjective questions and then takes points off but it's hard to figured out what what he's looking for.
Don?t take this class. Exam every 2 weeks, & 3 page paper (5 paragraphs) every 2 weeks required formal thesis. Required formal discussion topics 3 times a week. Extraordinarily labor intensive. Dave won?t negotiate requirements, if you miss anything, you get 0. I have a 4.0 GPA, Dave needs to wake up. He cripples his students abilities.
its an easy B, just a difficult A. on his essays, its hard to understand what he wants. i try my best to describe it clearly but he seems to only wants what he wants
he doesnt teach much. papers are hard to get perfect. for me, i mostly got a's n b's. quizzes and exams i got a's on most of them. quizzes are open book so no worries. but overall, easy class and nice and willing to help prof.
His online class is really easy. As long as you have the book and you read, you'll be set. The quizzes are detailed questions but the written assignments are basically free points, just cite them the way he wants you to.
Strict posting guidelines (3x/wk), but they don't matter given discussion assignments where you pick your top posts. Quizzes are pretty easy--open book. Novel reading (Tituba) is time consuming and not properly timed, but the funnest part. Answers all questions promptly!
He is a pretty good easy professor. If you are busy with work/other classes on campus, this class isn't too strenuous. If you do his instructions and go by his grading rubrics you'll do well. He's easy going and actually responds to his emails timely.
His quizzes are ridiculously hard I feel like they are meant to kill my grade. But overall he is a great guy, you can see he enjoys his job... I just wished he would make the quizzes more simpler because its a lot of memorization to go through in 45 minutes.
I took two history classes from Professor Bush during the summer. It was busy work but it's duable! The quizzes were hard but he provides you with a study guide!!! Also, he responds to emails fast and is always there to help his students succeed!
I took two history classes with Prof. Bush. Lots of reading (as most history classes are), but he provides study guide which helps a lot during tests. The only instructor whom I know that reminds students of every deadline weekly - which helps a lot!
Great Teacher! He does the most any professor could possibly do to help students succeed. Lots of reading, but makes it very clear what topics to focus on. Answers all emails and gives great advice. Tough grader but very fair. Constantly reminds you of dead lines. I learned a lot. My first college class. Plus he's funny. Which helps you relax.
Professor Bush very clearly wants all of his students to succeed. He is prompt in giving feedback and answering questions and communicates often with the entire class. I really liked that he emphasized the importance of critical thinking and discussion based learning. I would definitely take a class with him again.
He is a good professor, and always reminds deadline of the students assignment.
-Teacher gives good feedback on essays -email for help---you WILL receive it---was surprised at the quickness -readingparticipation matters---it prepares you for quizzes and tests -plenty of homework to stabilizeboost your grade -quizzes were straightforward -took his online history course -would take another class of his again
I am horrible with history & left this class to be my last one before graduating & the professor was awesome. (& I rarely think that) He was helpful & very clear about what work was to be done and stayed on top of grading things within a 24 hour period. I knew exactly where I was in the class & what I needed to do to succeed! I would recommend 100%
HE IS A GREAT MEN. But dont fall behind the readings or else you wont make it at all in the class. The quizes are kind of hard. But if you read the chapter everyday with out falling behind you will be able to pass them and the good news is that he kind of tells you were he might quizz you and of course is an open book quiz.
He likes to be very clear, as shown with his tons of rubrics and instructions. Hes always available and responds quickly when you ask him questions. There was a lot of reading (with two books and a textbook) and sometimes we had to read quickly to get essays done on time, but overall it was a pretty manageable class.
Excellent class!! Yes, there's a lot of work and reading, but he makes it interesting. I took it online and really got a lot out of this class. He's always reachable, answers emails and helps when asked. Definitely recommend this class.
Took both Hist 17A and B together. David Bush is an amazing teacher. He really cares about his students doing well in class, he just wants you to try. I finished them out in 1 quarter. Theres a quiz every week, discussion assignments and 2 book papers, a final. He encourages you to just submit anything but really wants you to get a good grade.
Professor Bush is amazing, he will respond back to any student question on a timely manner. Do all the reading ahead of the quizzes and make sure to post every week, 3 times a week in discussion section because you will use those discussion postings to turn in for grade.
Mr. Bush is really nice. He noticed I was falling behind towards the end of the quarter, and reached out to me to make sure I got everything turned in. He also replies really quick, which is especially nice since it's online.
David Bush is an excellent teacher, kind and respectful.
This professor was different from what I was used to in a history class. First he was very accessible and answered any question I had quickly and clearly. Second the texts he chose were varied and interesting, as were the videos and lectures. Finally, the discussions were fun and effective, they really forced you to participate and be active.
Great and clear online class. The professor makes it clear and easy to get an A
David Bush was a good professor -- note that I didn't have too much interaction with him because it was an online class, but he was always available to answer questions and respond to discussion posts. Also a timely grader for essays and things of that nature.
Tests are pretty straightforward.
He was great!
Professor Bush was one of the best instructors I've had. He was very clear on what he expected of us and was always available to answer questions. I really loved the "Life Happens" quizzes, just in case you needed a couple of extra points. Believe me, they do come in handy!
I accidentally missed a deadline, and he accepted the work.
He has great enthusiasm for the subject and for teaching the class. It's easy to tell that he really wants everyone to do well in his course, as he sends out frequent reminders about assignments. Makes an effort to interact a lot with the students.
Check the grading criteria! He's pretty clear on how to get an A and READ everything.
Everything you need to know is listed on his syllabus, so there is absolutely no way you should fall behind. Be sure to check his modules before doing anything because it has essay rubrics and study guides. Really straight forward and shouldn't be hard to get a B.
He's a very nice professor, and does some 1-question easy, yet stealthy quizzes to get you some extra credit.
I enjoyed taking his class. Exams are based on textbook readings, final exam has two parts, a writing assignment, and multiple choice. There is one extra credit question per module, not exactly related to class(easy) If you need this class for credit I recommend taking his class.
Very clear instructions about what is expected and sets you up to be successful in his class.
I didn't think I was going to like this class, and I actually found myself very interested in the subject matter. Great on-line instructor. If I had to take Mr. Bush's class again, I would take it in his classroom.
Great class, Dave is very responsive and is very understanding. I enjoyed the books we read! Just remember to always post on the right dates, I posted late a couple of times and he just happened to choose those dates for the class to grade. Sometimes there was subjective grading on the papers but overall fair & good class!
I thoroughly enjoyed the History 17C course and the professor was outstanding.
Mr. Bush is organized and gives very clear instructions. However, I recommend taking this class in person, because history should be interactive, just like telling a story. You are 100% responsible for your progress--if you're not self-motivated, you will likely have a hard time. Weekly discussions/quizzes with E.C., 2 papers, and a final test.
I truly enjoyed taking this class with David Bush. He was able to work with me when I felt under pressure and felt like I was behind. He helped me stay on track and stay till the end. Thank you David! I will take another class again with you in the near future. I liked his sense of humor and made the class very enjoyable and not so stern and heavy.
Total know-it-all. Very organized, but thinks he is better than everybody else in this world. Condescending attitude. His way or the highway.
I really enjoyed taking this class! I took History 17a online, and the directions were very clear every week. Professor Bush is understanding, and will help you with anything. He truly wants you to succeed, and gives you all the right tools for you to get the grade you want. I highly recommend him for any history class you may need! He is awesome!
Really enjoyed his online history class! He actively sends you email to remind you of important due dates and he give extra credit. The work load is not bad and definitely manageable :) I regret not taking previous history classes with him!
Professor Bush actually cares about his students and is very responsive through message. The class isn't hard at all, but you do have to make sure to check Etudes every couple days. The basis of the class is posting discussions 3-4 times a week, and taking quizzes that have answers straight from the book. You will need to buy the book.
This professor is amazing. He sincerely cares and wants each student to pass the course. There is enough time for everything manage your time wisely. Professor Bush is understanding and will always be there if you need anything or have questions. Always Always participate in your discussions it will benifit you. Go and Sign up !
His online class was enjoyable and this is coming from someone who isn't fond of history. You absolutely need the books required. For discussion posts, quality over quantity. Make sure you make all deadlines, which isn't hard to because his timing is lenient.
As long as you do the work, you will pass. Very clear instructions and syllabus. Offers extra credit and extensions. Actually cares about you passing.
I found it hard to get started in the discussions and posting the first few weeks, I would recommend more ice breakers in the first week to get things more open and seem easier to be involved.
Not a fair grader!!! He will take points away for little details in your essays.
Follow his instructions and you'll do fine. He may mark you down for small things, but he is upfront about what those things are far in advance. Gives specific feedback in a timely manner and offers 5% easy extra credit. Online class, so lots of reading but they were interesting and accessible. Gives helpful study guides and lots of work reminders.
Professor Bush is an amazing teacher. He helps you pass the class because he cares about his students' success. I enjoyed the course very much he has a great sense of humor, he makes learning fun. It was a true honor having him as my online instructor, truly amazing. I recommend taking his class, he's great!
I enjoyed professors Bush's class and learned a lot. I appreciated that professor Bush was super proactive in reminding the class about deadlines so there is no excuse for late work. The only gripe I have is that professor bush is very nit picky when it comes to papers. I lost huge amounts of points on papers for very small formatting errors.
Professor Bush is very motivational and his kind words inspire students to work harder. He is not a push over by any means, and you will have to work for your grade. I was close to dropping this class due to an overloaded summer schedule, but I decided to stick with it as I found his lectures (though in written format) very intriguing.
This online class was very organized and structured. The reading intensity is pretty high (we covered a lot of material) and I recommend reading over the material a second time you before you take the quizzes. This class is best described as "distance learning", because it is very similar to being in a traditional class setting.
I had Professor Bush for HIST17A. I took the class over the summer, the grade was basically dependent on two things, if you read the book, and if you passed the quizzes he held. He allowed us to turn things in late for full credit as well, which was pretty nice. The quizzes were easy for me, I got a 100 on most of them, and I got A's on my essays.
Educational class, there's just a lot of work. It isn't difficult work, just a lot. Tough grader on the essays, but as long as you use quotes and spell check, you'll be fine.
funny and makes you feel like he cares about you and wants you to do better. he keeps in contact with the class makes himself known.
Overall good online class, just a lot of reading. Teacher is very responsive but if you want an easy class, this one is not it.
Professor Bush is without a doubt the best online teacher ever! He provides very detailed expectations for what is expected and how to achieve a good grade. He encourages students consistently and throughout the course. His passion for history, the stories and his students success is clear. As a bonus, he has a great sense of humor! Top Rated!
Great class!
As long as you do the posts required and essays, you will pass. Hes a very nice instructor and is willing to answer any questions you might have about any assignment.
Communicates clearly, often, and his assignments were interesting and relevant.
Easy class! Great teacher! Second time taking one of his classes. Assignments are all straight forward. You have plenty of time and heads up on all the assignments. Fair grader and easy to follow rubrics. The books we had to read outside the test book were short and easy reads. Easy B+/A class! There were a few easy extra credit points available.
AWFUL!!! DONT TAKE HIM
One of the most helpful, most accessible professors I've had. Classwork is very organized, expectations are clear and material is engaging. As long as you do what is required, you'll do well. Just be sure to follow assignment instructions very carefully and use your best writing for assignments. You will definitely learn a lot. Take him!
Professor Bush is very helpful and accessible. He cares about you and wants you to succeed in the class. Just do the work and you'll do fine.
Great professor! Do all the work and you will do fine.
Professor Bush is kind and fair. On one of my papers, I did not meet the 1,000+ words requirement, so I had about 60 points deducted, which resulted in a C+ grade. I enjoyed this class and I think that an A is easy to receive in this class.
Easy and interesting class! Recommend for anyone trying to get history credit!
Would've been nice to have explanations for why he chose to dock points on the rubric.
I definitely learned I lot from this course, but there was a lot more reading than expected. But, I know the reading was necessary, for, without it, I wouldn't have been able to engage in the discussions, which I really enjoyed.
Best teacher Ive ever had! He made the subject interesting and made sure the course requirements and expectations were known. His encouragement when I was struggling with some issues home is what kept me from dropping out of class. He also has a very humorous way of communicating which I feel keeps students engaged. Would take another class.
Fair, Good communication
This professor taught the first history class I liked. He always has an amazing attitude and that's what makes a professor good - when he/she can inspire students to learn. There are 3 weekly discussions, some based on videos and reading. As long as you follow directions on posts and essays you'll do really well in his class.
He's very funny and has a light hearted attitude. He's clear, concise, respectful and addresses issues in a very timely manner. He truly knows how to run an effective online classroom, I highly recommend this guy.
Professor Bush was a great teacher. His expectations and instructions were clear and he genuinely wants you to do your best and was available for any questions. The course load was heavy but manageable.
Great professor. Added a light humor to the lectures and the assignments were very lenient yet challenging.
This is a great class from a great teacher. Professor Bush is funny, easy to work with and most importantly, a scholarly historian. The syllabus is straight forward and Professor Bush knows how to use Canvas well; flawless comes to mind. Professor Bush is simply a great teacher.
He is a good teacher
David Bush's class is EXTREMELY taxing. His canvas page is extremely confusing, and his messages are full of run on sentences that never pinpoint what he's really trying to say. Expect to spend a lot time reading through his syllabus andis modules without any comprehension of what you just read. tests, class discussions, videos etcyoul hav doit all
Not super hard. 3 discussion posts per week (have to space them out not all 3 in one day). Open-book quizzes every week as well, although it helped to read the material carefully before taking it, makes things easier. Bulk of the grade decided by 150 point essay. Took around 3 hours, be sure to follow his criteria. Assigned books were interesting.
Professor Bush makes the online format impressively personable in a funny and informative way. He always got back to me very quickly and sent helpful weekly updates. Definitely would take another one of his courses.
He doesn't give study quide for the final exam quiz which made it hard to get an A but other than that this is an easy A class if you do all the work. He is such a caring and funny prof. Definitely recommend this prof.
If you're into history, you'll enjoy the class as Prof. Bush prescribes informative and interesting reading and videos to watch. They're really well researched and written. But if you're not a fan of history, the readings may challenge you just because of their length and wordiness.
Very kind professor. Reading are a bit challenging but worth it. You do need to follow his essay guidelines carefully. Ask questions, he will not bite even if it sounds stupid. He really wants to help and will not shame you for doing so.
He has good sense of humor and always replied and gives good feedback to students. You can really tell he cares and respects his students! History isnt my favorite subject, but he made the class enjoyable!! Would take one of his classes again!
David Bush is a wonderful teacher. He's organized, interesting, and fair. I would definitely recommend him to any future student and plan on taking additional classes with him. He is accessible by email nearly 24 hours a day, and always helpful.
Organized modules, interesting topics and movies. Plan to write your essay at least a week in advance. AS A PROFESSIONAL PROCRASTINATOR, TRUST ME, THIS WILL SAVE YOU.
Prof. Bush does his best to help his students pass. Always quick to respond to any inquiry. I took this during summer quarter so it was a lot of reading condensed into a shorter period of time but its still doable.
AMAZING prof! Answers emails very very quickly, has a sense of humor, and is overall cool. I found the class rly interesting even tho I had no interest in the subject lol. definitely recommend his classes!
Professor Bush is fun from his messages. He is nice and helping all the time. He offers extra credits. All you need is to participate in the discussion and follow his grading rubrics which is very clear. He doesn't have a lot of homework and offer 24 hours extensions after deadline. He will remind you before deadline as well. Recommend his class!
Dr. Bush is extremely enthusiastic and supportive of his students, sending alerts and good wishes before every deadline and always being there to answer student questions. Assignments are pretty simple, their requirements are very clear, and there is a lot of easy credit from online discussion posts. Make sure to take the essay seriously though.
This class was a good class, there were a few quizzes throughout the course, but there were study guides for all of the tests, except for the tests where you had to read a book other than the textbook.
Professor Bush is an amazing teacher! You learn a lot in this class and the readings are actually really enjoyable and interesting! David Bush is a super kind hearted, and funny guy too and that makes it more enjoyable! He has this class set up so it honestly feels more like an in person class, you really get to know the teacher and other students!
Dave is great and keeps up with all of his students who need help. The quizzes are tough but as long as you keep up with the chapters, they are very much doable. He grades very fairly and gives clear guidelines beforehand to make sure you know what you're doing.
The class is based on discussion, quizzes, and one paper. Not too difficult if you are willing to put work into it. Fast responses to messages and really care about his students.
Dr. Bush was a great professor that was very accommodating to his students. I would highly recommend taking his class as he is very attentive and gives great feedback.
TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!! Professor Bush really cares about his students, and it's obvious! This isn't a class in which you feel ignored. Besides having a great professor, the class materials is engaging and easy to understand if you put in the effort. Schedule permitting, I recommend you take all his classes in a section (e.g. HIST17A - HIST17C)!
First time taking an online class and Mr. B made it easy. He sent weekly reminds of what was due and gave a little extra credit here and there. There's a lot of reading so beware of that. He jokes a lot too ( dad-jokes). Not everyone's style but I thought he was funny. Class is straightforward & he's very friendly and helpful! NO GROUP PROJTS :D
Excellent Professor. He frequently reminds students when assignments are due, offers options to focus in on topics you enjoy, and is pretty funny to go along with it. He's a hard grader but able and willing to help. His assignment feedback is specific and helpful.
He is a good teacher. But there is work involved. There was one essay that was not so bad, you have to make sure to cite sources properly but it was pretty easy. He is not the easiest professor but he cares. If you send him an email he will help. You need to buy the book. Be on top of your work and you will do great. You will learn and enjoy.
I just took Mr. Bush and loved it! I had to work for my grade; however the work that he assigns isn't even hard it's easy work that require a lot of time. Each week you'll have to comment 3x on the discussion board and do a ten-question quiz. Don't miss the homework and work HARD on your essay. He really cares about you and wants you to succeed!
Professor Bush genuinely cares about his students! I was going through some personal matters and I opened up to him. With his support and help I was able to pass the class. There is quite a bit of reading and discussion posts weekly. The essay is not hard if you prep properly! There are life happens quizzes that are extra credit. Would recommend!
Only 5 points of extra credit offered. Very few people in my online class got A's. There were 3 books we used, one of which we had to pay for (around $18) and one we had to write a 1000-word essay based on. That one book is the only thing we had to pay for as the main textbook is free online. Can be picky and erratic in grading, but overall fine.
Professor Bush has a huge heart for his students. Easy A/B if you do all the work for the class, which is mostly reading, discussion posts, and weekly quizzes. One 1,000 word essay which is worth half of your grade, but he provides plenty of help and time. The only thing I didn't like was that the essay was worth so much and grading was picky.
Great Professor! I took Hist 17B with him online a few terms ago and was truly one of the best profs I've had at Foothill. He's a reasonable grader and definitely cares about his students. He made the class interesting and was always there to help navigate the online aspect of the class. Definitely recommend taking any of his courses :)
I took Dave Bush's early American History class that was conducted as a fully remote class. The material for the class was well prepared, was scheduled at a good pace, and required active participation. I enjoyed the class and found Dave to be a funny and helpful teacher. I'd recommend this class as an intro to US history.
the essay is worth LOT (like 50% of total grade) and is graded very harshly, so that's kind of a pain. other than that fairly standard online class, quiz questions are straight from the textbook, only one test (final) and questions are either refused from old quizzes or can easily be found in the online textbook (command f is your best friend!)
Professor Bush is a really nice guy. He makes funny jokes in his announcements and he is very accessible outside of class. I have never had someone in my life that responds to emails as quick as him His grading is very clear. If you follow his instructions, you'll be fine. However, if you don't follow his instructions, points are easily taken
Professor Bush was extremely helpful, caring, and very understanding while taking this online course. I am soooo not a History person but he made it super interesting - that is tough to do! He made it relevant to what we had going on today and implemented a variety of videos students can choose from, as well as changed it from the norm of lectures.
I took this class online and Professor Bush is a great teacher, but I found his class really frustrating. He structures the course well, but he puts a lot of value on multiple choice questions and citations, things that in my opinion don't really reflect your abilities. Essay citations were 8% of the total grade, and quiz Qs were very specific.
The first lesson was pretty easy but boy did it go downhill from there. You will be reading at least two chapters to 15 chapters a week, and his tests are extremely difficult. He doesn't look for understanding of events but your ability to remember tiny insignificant details. A <> 3 <> 7% B <> 10 <> 22% C <> 20 <> 44% D <> 7 <> 16% F <> 5 <> 11%
Be prepared to study for the tests, because they make up a large percentage of the grade. Additionally forum participation, which is based on the weekly readings, is required.
As others have written, Professor Bush is a caring teacher who wants his students to succeed. He often shows his sense of humor, which is a nice addition to the class. The course is tough, but not overly difficult. He provides a study guide for tests, which helps tremendously. I hope to take more of his classes in the future.
Professor Bush's class was thoughtfully constructed and supremely well organized. It wasn't easy, but if you do the reading and make the required number of posts per week in the correct format (check the rubric! this was very important) you should be in good shape. Study guide topics are also provided for each chapter, so you know what to focus on.
Get ready to read and engage in the forums. Three posts are required every week and a quiz as well, the midterm and final are heavy make sure you follow the study guides that will make things easier. The grading criteria is very specific so stick with it! easy to loose points in every assignment if you don't double check before submitting your work
Great professor he really cares about you and wants everyone to pass.
Professor Bush was very assessable and always answered emails very quickly. Be sure to always be up to the reading and the discussions and you'll pass the class with flying colors.
I took his class online asynchronous. He's a good guy but his class is super textbook heavy (like 12 hours just reading textbook per week) plus the exams are proctored and no notes. It's clear he likes history though and writes good lecture modules. He's super nice and answers emails, and he grades discussion posts and the essay fairly.
I love history. DO NOT take his course if you wish to learn History. He does not know how to prepare a course. Emphasizes 50% on one paper. Does not grade for History, but English. And that too about how Alcohol was produced in homes in 1600s. He barely uses the American Yawp a far superior book. He REALLY needs to attend teaching 101!
He is very caring, helpful, responds to emails and questions very fast, doesn't grade harsh, checks in with you, quizzes are easy and straight forward, and overall the class is pretty easy.
I truly enjoyed this class! Prof David Bush is funny, caring, and a really great teacher! The material and discussions were relevant and enjoyed the films in every module. I learned so much! I think the workload was good and the grading was just. Prof. Bush is a gem, I wished I could have selected more than 3 tags! Highly recommend this class!
I was doing really well in the class but I missed one discussion because I didn't see it in the modules and I got a B+ in the class. Overall, I don't think he's a bad professor but he isn't very lenient.
This professor is very specific in terms of his grades. If you don't formulate an citation in the specific way for example, he may give you a lower grade.
I personally found Professor Bush very engaging, and I appreciate the fact that he challenged us in the class. An A is obtainable, but you will need to put forth a decent effort to earn it. Thank you for the challenge Professor Bush Christopher M
Very organized and detailed Canvas. You wont find any better Canvas, full stop. Detailed instructions and good feedback. Prof Bush actively interacts with students in the forums, which is nice. Cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Class isnt easy per se, reading the textbook is essential. Essay due on a historic novel as well.
Online classes are frequently lacking in meaningful interaction, but Prof. Bush's time-gating and personal participation in the discussion boards helps to facillitate better discussions. Decent amount of required reading, but it's perfectly manageable and the choice of reading material is far from dry or lacking in variety. Overall a good class.
There was a lot of textbook reading with very little guidance. He does provide a list of learning objectives, however many times I found that they didn't actually exist in the newest version of the textbook (which was one of the options listed). He's very caring, however, and even though sometimes his grading felt harsh, sometimes he was very nice
I thought this class would have gone a lot differently per prior reviews. Grading is very particular and in some cases unreasonable. There is no way to regain credit that is lost. Questions per reading are very particular and wording in ways you would not recall the material. A bit unfortunate because I was excited for this course.
I took Professor Bush's CA History and enjoyed every minute of it. as a native Californian, I learned so much about my State. This is a history class, so be prepared to have about 35-70 pgs of reading on top of daily assignments. However, Professor Bush is accommodating if anything happens as long as you communicate beforehand.
My favorite part of this class is that this is the only professor I have had that reaches out to me. I liked the material as well. Lots of reading but if you can handle that the class is worth your time.
I have taken two online classes with Professor Bush. I like him very much, but you really have to read all the material and make sure you understand it because his tests/quizzes are challenging. They are good but challenging. One of the things that I like best about this professor is that he is available if you need help with the material.
Genuinely my favorite teacher. He goes by Dave instead of Professor Bush, is absolutely hilarious, and just a wonderful guy overall. He's posted memes on Canvas before. When I was struggling and reached out, he immediately offered a helping hand and got me back to my feet. Also, he provided great feedback on every single assignment! This guy rules.
Instructor laid out very good course content and was very attentive to assist throughout the course. The content planned out; quizzes, discussions, and essay/midterms/finals were well spaced out. Some content was a little difficult in areas due to how much information needed to be retained and some of the grading outlines felt a little too stern.
The professor uses, beside textbook, extensive material, including historical publications and documentary films. it is allow better to understand the historical events. He graded the student work very fair, and encourage the participation from the student. Professor give the wide range of options for discussion.
He never gives any feedback and seems to only reply with copy and past answers when writing to students. Never graded project in order. During the semester he would grad randomly and towards of the last 2 weeks of class he never graded 5 assignments. He lacks communication skills and organization.
not sure why everyone says he's a good grader; he gives feedback and does give long guidelines but pulls new rules out of the air for every assignment. he always makes up new criticisms that had never been an issue prior. if u dont care about getting a b or c he's an alright prof, but he seems to be determined to absolutely never give out an a
Great Professor.
It was my first online class and I was unsure if I had the technical skills. But the class was very well organize and it made it easy.
Professor Bush is awesome! He runs his course with fairness and ease and gives excellent feedback. I have taken several of his courses and have learned a lot and enjoy learning history more since being in his classes. He also adds a bit of humor each week to make you laugh and feel comfortable. I recommend anyone to take his course.
Prof. Bush is a lot of fun and has a good sense of humor. There's a lot of reading and writing involved, but that's to be expected with history classes. Grading is straightforward, but make sure you read the instructions very carefully. Participation is important in the class. Prof. Bush encourages thinking outside of the box.
Professor Bush is an inspiring educator. His courses are well thought out; he's funny, responsive, and encourages thinking and analysis. I decided to take another World History class with Professor Bush even though my core course requirements are complete. Good luck!
Professor Bush's class was clear, concise and completely manageable. What makes him the great professor he is, however, is how much he cares about his students. To know that you can always reach out and receive the help you need is incredibly comforting. He really just wants you to succeed. Highly recommended.
Excellent class that will teach you all about History specifically in the eastern side of the world. The work is manageable as long as you put in the time. The best part is that it goes really in depth with the content, not only teaches you the basics, but also many little things that you wouldn't have otherwise known. Great class.
David Bush is a great professor. This was my second class with him and I will likely take another. Professor Bush is funny, involved and his courses are well planned out. This was my 47th class at Foothill so I've studied with many professors, I'm not saying Dave is the easiest, I'm saying he's the best.
I'm unsure if the other feedback is from David Bush's students, but mine is from a real student. I took two history classes with David, and it's very hard or nearly impossible to get an A, even if you work hard and spend a lot of time on the course. His feedback isn't clear.
I really enjoyed taking Prof David's class. He makes quirky announcements and makes the material fun. I would take his class again.
Prof. Bush keeps the class fun with quirky humor. While grading can be strict, the course material is engaging. I found unstuckstudy helpful for study prep alongside the free textbook.
Graded on minutiae. Are you looking for a teacher that tests on footnotes? Rotating set of grading criteria. Did you use proper punctuation in your footnotes in class discussion forums. A C for you! Is class discussion really about footnote punctuation? I agree plagiarism is bad.. but this class lost the plot
Professor Bush is a great instructor who makes lectures engaging and easy to follow. He's approachable, gives clear explanations, and provides helpful feedback. I really enjoyed his class and would definitely recommend it!
It's like having a teacher who only grades on the footnote punctuation. Rigid. Focued on meaningless details. Those details are ever changing and will get you a C or D. It's ameircan history. Not rocket science. Even mastery of the topic will not get you a A. You must post to discussion with footbotes that include the citation.
I took his World History class way back in Spring 2022. Back then, I already thought he was a good professor (the literature had variety and was unconventional/interesting). In 2025, I contacted him for a rec and I was suprised to see that he actually still remembered in detail the work that I did in his class! Great prof, seems to really care.
This is very strange.Even though the class is completely online, it's incredibly difficult to get a good grade. Your posts will never be perfect. He doesn't just grade on a few criteria - he probably has thousands of them. Sometimes he'll grade your work, sometimes he won't. Probably rates when he wants to lower the score
David Bush has the experience to provide appropriate involvement in his world history courses.
It's such a shame that the Brits couldn't give America their independence without fighting
David Bush is a decent prof. Extremely strict grader with not that specific of a rubric, so you should ask for clarification. I got hella points cut off cuz of some bullshit reason like grammar. PAY ATTENTION TO GRAMMAR. if you follow his directions SUPER strictly you'll do well.
Professor Dave is a caring, engaging, and genuinely invested instructor who clearly wants his students to succeed. His teaching style is thoughtful and discussion-drive. The lectures were well-structured and informative.
