Dr. Camerini is passionate, knowledgeable, and wants his students to succeed; he encourages students to reach out to him for help all semester. His class is rigorous, so you definitely have to put in the work for the grade you want. Try to show up for all lectures/labs so you don't miss any details or explanations he provides outside of his PPTs.
He's the best. He wants students to do well, this class is a lot of work but he gives you all of the tools to succeed there's many opportunities to do well. His exams are very difficult but the other assignments make up lower exam grades. He used to grade on a huge curve he no longer does but getting an A is possible you just have to work for it.
I took Dr. Camerini Fall 2019 and he is by far my favorite professor at Coastline. He's funny and down-to-earth but definitely knows his stuff. You can see him light up when he talks about viruses because he's a virologist. As expected with any science class, there's a lot of homework but he does a great job of walking you through it. TAKE HIM!
Great class overall, you just need to work for the grade you want. I really enjoyed class with Camerini, he's understanding, funny, and genuinely wants to get to know his students. You're allowed to take labs home and work on them, which is super nice of him. Just make sure you study for the exams!!
He is a great professor, he wants students to do well! Ask question's if you need help! Very understandable. His lecture exams are pretty difficult but study the study guide! Memorize the short answers and know the step process. Participate in learning catalytics, those are easy points! Show up for class! Don't miss lab! Make a good studying group!
He really does care about his students. The test are hard and you will have to put in work and time, but it pays off in the end. You will understand microbiology at the end of this class if you study and pay attention. He will always help you if you need it.
Great lectures. Always throws a joke or two to keep students engaged. I would definitely take any class with Professor Camerini again. This class is very test heavy. You need to be in Lecture and participate to get credit and understand what to study on the exams.
Professor Camerini is a very knowledgable person in many aspects of research and medicine, very good lecturer and keeps the class engaged with interesting topics related to the medical field and a couple jokes here & there. Exams are straight forward, what is on his lectures will be on the exam. Overall would take again :)
He is the BEST!!! Believe me when I say, take the class he is so smart and cares so much!!!
Professor Camerini sets his students up for success and wants you to pass the class. Lecture tests are difficult so take advantage of office hours. microbiology is courses that requires the student to put in work. Overall, I enjoyed taking his class In person!
Professor Camerini is very passionate and knowledgable! He is aware that many students are pre-health and tailors his lectures to be medically relevant. You will definitely learn a lot. Exams are difficult, set aside ample time to prepare. However, if you put in the work, it will pay off. Labs are interesting and lab reports are not too gruesome.
Exams are hard, but if you put in the work, you will get a good grade. Lab quizzes are not difficult, but review is definitely needed. He is passionate of the topic and understanding of students. He genuinely wants you to succeed and helps out in any way he can.
Exams are difficult, but reviewing the lectures is much needed. He is passionate speaking about the topics covered and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He is very helpful when you ask questions , has a sense of humor and explains assignments very well. Definitely a great professor to take
Course outline clearly lays out what is expected for his class. Tests are difficult but not impossible if you review slides/recordings well ahead of time. Tests and lab exercises each account for 30% of the total grade. Doing well on lab exercises will bring your grade up. Don't procrastinate and be a bum with your lab partners.
Without a doubt professor Camerini is one of the best professors I had for my undergrad. He is an amazing person and a kind, understanding, knowledgeable and FUNNY professor. He for sure makes the hard class like microbiology enjoyable and his lectures are easy to understand. Definitely recommend :)
Well-organized, tells funny jokes, cares about his students!
The professor was engaging and helpful to students. He was approachable, and has asked me if I needed help to visit him during office hours. The topic was relevant to my career goals and he explained things well..
Camerini really cares about his students and is passionate about what he is teaching. Microbio did not come easy to me, so I didn't do as well as I wanted to in his class. Camerini is very approachable and wants his students to do well.
Very transparent on what to know for exams and quizzes. He is very passionate about virology and will answer all questions. He posts study guides before the exams, which helps a lot! I would take him for all my hard science classes tbh
Make sure you attend lectures to be better prepared for the exams because there's a lot to know. Also, if you are struggling go to office hours. He is great with helping and answering all of your questions.
Micro is not an easy course but professor Camerini makes all the work bearable and engaging. As long as you stay on track and study all lecture slides and do well in lab it is a straight forward class. I would recommend him to anyone looking to enroll in any hard science course.
Very kind and cares about his students greatly. Attendance is not mandatory but heavily recommended as lectures are heavy.
Professor Camerini was a great teacher for an upper division bio class. His lectures were material heavy, however he lightens the class with his funny jokes at times. He prepares his students well for exams with study guide topics and highlighting key lecture slides. He is fair and approachable outside of class. Would definitely recommend!
Dr. Camerini is a wonderful professor that cares about his students and wants us to be able to make real world applications of the things he's teaching. He does have a lot of lab exercises, and problem sets but if you do the work, and go to lecture, you will be able to do well in this class without reading.
He is very passionate when he teaches and has plenty of interesting stories that connect with lecture. He was understanding to all his students and always asked if we had any questions. Exams are difficult but he posts review lectures, so it is great way to start studying early. Attendance isn't mandatory but exams are heavily relied on lectures.
I would definitely recommend taking Micro with Dr. Camerini. He obviously loves teaching and it shows. Questions are encouraged. He is always willing to help if you need it (and I did). Tests are tough but fair. Lectures are not mandatory but I would recommend attending (there are usually some pretty funny jokes mixed in).
Cool approach to grading and points. Tons and tons of points but distributed mostly to assignments. 3 exams and none accumulative.
No heavy homework but the course itself is difficult. He shares the topics, titles and explanatory documents for the exams.
Dr. Camerini is awesome, very understanding and helpful! Lots of lab assignments, lab is mandatory, so go and you will pass. He tells you important topics to study while lecturing and holds exam review sessions, all VERY helpful.100% take this class! Lots of pre-health professionals needing this course as a pre-req! Thanks Dr. Camerini!
Professor Camerini is a beyond fantastic professor. I took his microbiology course with a full course load. I was very afraid at first but quickly realized that he wants everyone to succeed. It is essential to study hard for the exams in order to receive a good grade. It is definitely possible to get an A in this class if you put in the effort!
Professor was very accommodating to anyone who struggled but also fair in his grading. There were several assignments but it all helps boost your grade (labs, lecture quizzes, unknown, lab quizzes). There were extra credit questions on exams which help boost your grade. Studying for exams is crucial but this is to be expected. Recommend taking him!
Highly recommend Dr. Camerini's microbiology course. He is passionate about the field and keeps lectures interesting with real world applications to the material. Very understanding and truly cares about his students success.
Highly recommend Dr. Camerini's microbiology course. He is passionate about the field and keeps lectures interesting with real world applications to the material. Truly cares about his students success.
Professor Camerini wants his students to do well in his class. He gives you everything you need to not only pass the class but also get a good grade. He is kind and understanding. Use those study guides he gives you because they are a serious life saver. Pay attention in lecture because he likes to include the stuff he says in his exams.
Would definitely recommend professor Camerini. He wants his students to do well and gives you everything you need to not only pass but get a good grade.
Professor Camerini was one of the best science teachers I have had. He really explains what he wants you to know for his exams. He wants everyone to have a good grade, he does not pick favorites. If you use his study guides and take time to study you should be able to get the grade you want.
He is very understanding when it comes to being away from class etc. He is very passionate about the class. Since most of us are going into the healthcare field, so he geared our class towards medical microbiology which I really appreciated. It is clear he wants every student to succeed and learn. He is a bit more fast paced than some professors.
Microbiology isn't easy, so obviously you have to put in effort into teaching yourself in a way that YOU can comprehend it. Professor Camerini is very knowledgeable. Some lectures are long/difficult to understand. For exams, he reviews everything in detail. Points are easy to earn if you do the work. He wants the A for you! Get ready to laugh!
His grading can be nit picky at times, but instructions are usually very clear. Tests are lecture focused, the textbook is not very necessary. He does not lecture in depth unless prompted by questions/feedback. His study guides are chaotic and not straight forward, but manageable. He is not easy, but high marks are possible. I would take again.
Professor Camerini is personable, caring, and understanding. He truly wants his students to all succeed and grasp the concepts of microbio. He tries to give hints during review as to what will be on the exam and is pretty straightforward on what he expects us to know. Lecture/slideshow heavy but the study guides will prepare you well.
Dr. Camerini is a great professor and wants his students to do well in his class. He is very understanding and lenient. He goes over the study guide before the exam and explains what you need to know for the exam. The assignments are easy ways to boost your grade. Highly recommend Dr. Camerini's microbiology course.
Camerini truly does want you to pass & will help you in every way he can especially if you ask him! His exams are fair IF you study hard & all the lecture slides! He will let you know what you need to study! During lectures he will say things such as "this will be on your exam" & it is! So attending class does help with preparing for exams.
Professor Camerini is a true OG. He doesn't fret over the little things (pun intended) and truly wants his students to succeed. At first, I thought he was just rushing through the material, but now I understand he was just trying to cover all the material we had and then focus on what we should know. Truly a man of honor and a dedicated scholar.
This professor truly cares. If you make a mistake on the assignments, he doesn't dock off points for the same mistakes and he's really caring and understanding. He also posts review lecture videos for the tests which are really useful because if you go over that you should be good for the written part of the exam and most of the multiple choice.
Amazing! Camerini cares about his students and wants all of them to succeed. He is very passionate about his teachings which is great but also makes him extra particular in regards to grading. Your grade isn't dependent on only exams - it's split very reasonably among many categories. But to get a good grade you HAVE to put in the time and work.
Order your lab manual beforehand since you'll be using it every lab. All quizzes and lecture exams are online, but you'll be using Proctorio for only lecture exams. Stay organized when working on your unknown, don't procrastinate. For lab exercises, write down incubation times and imagination for microscope pics; he'll dock points!! Good luck.
This class was a lot of fun but it's a lot of work. You don't need the textbook but you NEED the lab manual. Make sure to watch the lectures and you'll do fine on the tests. For lab be ready to take pics and stay organized. He is nice and understanding...can be a little inappropriate sometimes. He is willing to help you if you don't understand.
All lecture exams are 90% of study guides and the other 10% could be something he said in a lecture video. If you do the work, you shouldn't have an issue with the class. Labs aren't difficult if you come to class and lab quizzes are from the lab exercises. Don't expect extra credit, you maybe given 1-2 points total out of 1000.
If you study the study guide/lectures videos for the exams and attend labs, you shouldn't have an issue getting an A in the class. Exams are heavily weighed on the overalll grade in class, do good on exams = good grade.
Overall, fair and laid back guy, understanding. Enjoyed doing labs in person and lecture videos being self paced. I wished his labs had more structure, like video/photo demos to prep for lab, and waiting on limited equipment.
Overall pretty manageable class! Lab is a lot, get ready to complete every lab exercise in detail or you will be deducted points!
Overall a really fun and engaging class! Exams are weighted pretty heavily so make sure to watch his lecture videos and problem sets.
Professor Camerini is an amazing professor! I took his microbiology class and really enjoyed it. The labs are all in person and are really fun. He provides clear instructions and with consistent effort earning an A
Great professor. Lab was fun
Took Dr. Camerini for Microbio at Coastline in Newport Beach. He outlines everything clearly in Canvas, so it's easy to stay organized on what's due / what to study. Offers study guides with bullet points for exams. Offers a couple extra credit opportunities and doesn't make the class harder than it needs to be. Would def reccommend!
Funny professor. Simple questions for the exam, but lots of information you need to remember. Be prepared for self-study because his lectures do not explain in detail. He is not a tough grader and accepts late submissions. Also, microbiology is challenging!
He is hilarious with fun labs. 3 exams and 2 lab quizzes in total. They are seemed to be easy if you watch his reviews, but lectures are heavy, and require lots of memorization. You will pass if putting your effort.
Dr. Camerini is the only professor I had that understands students have other things in life besides school. He is very helpful, funny, and provides a lot of opportunities to get a good grade in the class. In addition, he works with a student's schedule not against a student's schedule. For example, he will allow late work if you communicate it.
He provides helpful study guides and clear guidance on what to focus on for exams. The material is dense, but with effort in memorizing lectures, lab, and doing the assignments, a B or better is achievable. He's chill and supportive. Labs can be chaotic at first but become more manageable plus seeing the bacteria growth results is fun.
Dr. Camerini is an incredible professor! He is flexible with the class schedule assignments. He always allows for extra time to those who ask for it. He makes microbiology fun and always offers his time to those who have questions to make sure no one is lost in the class. The assignments are easy and reviews for test are given and help a lot!
Honestly amazing amazing professor!! I didn't think I would understand microbiology at all, but he made it sooo easy to understand. We did labs every Tuesday and Thursday, but it would be the easiest thing ever. We would finish class in an hour, and the only thing you should focus on is the lab packets because it is graded on correctness.
Professor Camerini is always available to help during office hours or through prompt email responses, and cares about each student's understanding of the subject. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. I highly recommend their class to anyone interested in microbiology or the life sciences.
I took his 16-week hybrid class and his lectures were short and straight-forward. 3 tests, 2 lab quizzes, weekly discussions and quizzes, and a few extra credit. Lab was easy as you work with other students. Be sure to study his lecture slides! There's short answer questions on the exams. Get a study group.
Dr. Camerini is a really good professor, easy-going, and has effective teaching methods. He has great lab experiments and accessible lecture videos in the modules. Although Microbiology is a challenging course, effort and consistent study can lead to excellent grades in his class. Overall, definitely recommend his class and would take him again.
Funny professor who clearly wants his students to succeed. Grading is lenient and exams are straightforward.
Hybrid class. 2 day/week in person lab. Lenient grader. Online proctored exams. This is probably the least difficult microbio class. I'm not good at science and I have an A.
Overall an enjoyable class. Exams are difficult but grade will be ok if you do well on lab assignments and lecture discussions/quizzes. Fair grader.
Dr. Camerini really shows how much he cares for his students and for their success. This class is lab heavy but he thoroughly explains each lab exercises before you start and lab are generally self explanatory. There is a lot of busy work to do in this class such as discussion posts with replies, problem sets before each exam, lab exercises, etc.
very good clear instructions had fun in the class!
I was very nervous about taking Microbio as its one of the first science classes i've taken but I would totally retake Dr. Camerini's class! He very much cares that everyone succeeds in his class, the material is difficult to learn but as long as you stay on track with studying you will succeed & turn in your labs! Labs were so much fun too!
Great class! The professor is understanding, a fair grader, and makes labs fun and engaging.
I can say instructor Camerini made class enjoyable and entertaining. I would definitely recommend anyone to take his class. The course was well-structured. Make sure to complete all weekly discussions and quizzes because these are easy points to earn. Stay organized with lab assignments and pictures of lab results to get full credit on lab reports.
This was my favorite class at coastline by far. Dr. Camerini is a great professor, he is very organized, lab is very manageable, and him and the TAs are very helpful and explain things very well. Lecture exams are pretty tough so start studying early.
Dr. Camerini is amazing! He takes the time to explain concepts clearly at the beginning of each class and makes sure his students understand the material. The course is clear and structured. He's also very kind and approachable, which makes a big difference. He genuinely cares about his students' success.
Dr. Camerini is understanding and flexible if you communicate with him. His Microbio class was a lot of work due to the subject, but he is an amazing teacher overall. This class had online asynchronous lectures and in-person labs. I never read a textbook; you just purchase the lab manual. Take the class!
Awesome teacher who's always cracking jokes and explains labs very clearly so we don't have to be there for the full 3 hours of class. Easy class to pass, just turn in your work.
Dr Camerini is a wonderful teacher. He made this class understandable and enjoyable, and focused on things that would be applicable in healthcare careers. The class had a lecture portion online, and in-person labs. Dr.Camerini makes labs clear and enjoyable, while also not wasting time. I would highly recommend you take his class.
Great teacher. Labs can be confusing but his TA's help out a lot. Grades are exam heavy, if you get under a 75% in an exam you're not ending with an A but achieving a passing grade of C/B is achievable if you complete labs and participate in discussions.
easy and doable labs. lecture exams are difficult
Great Professor to take for General Microbiology. Very easy class, good professor, very flexible and helpful.
Amazing professor! He genuinely wants his students to pass and gives plenty of chances to succeed. The class is exam heavy and can be a bit difficult, but he works hard to help you earn an A or B in other assignments. Lectures push you to take good notes for yourself. The student aides are also available to help. Highly recommend!
Class is easy, labs are easy, and its pretty difficult to not get an A or B. He posts study guides for exams and they're clear as to what will be on the exam. Cool guy too.
Professor Camerini is kind and genuinely wants his students to succeed. Labs are easy if you pay attention and actually try. If you need help, ask questions. Complete your assignments, show up to lab, and you'll pass. Lecture exams are dense and determine whether you're getting an A, so study ahead. Overall he's super fair and will work with you!
Class is fun and engaging, pay attention to the lab exercises and hold onto the sheets because you will be tested on them. Tests are difficult, personally I didn't find that the lecture material went over what was on the test. What I wish I did differently in the beginning was to fill out my lab notebook as the class progressed.
Taking Microbiology with Professor Camerini was awesome. As long as you show up lab, complete those lab assignments and do well on the exams, you'll get an A.
Clear expectations. I would suggest getting ahead of all lecture material. It will be the core of your grade. Overall, made the class easy and an A achievable.
The professor is approachable and genuinely helpful to students. Exams are fair if you study directly from the provided study guide, which closely reflects the lecture material. Some questions can be slightly tricky, so paying attention to details and studying carefully is important. Lab quiz is not really hard.
He is an amazing professor who is patient and explains everything clearly. He never makes you feel embarrassed for asking questions or needing extra help. You can tell he truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I highly recommend taking his class.
Great professor, passionate about what he teaches. He's personable and makes a lot of dad jokes. Lecture was online and lab was in person. If your group finished the lab, you were allowed to leave early. Very accommodating to students with lab homework. Extra credit was available as well.
Professor Camerini is an excellent microbiology professor—approachable, knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humor. He makes a challenging subject manageable and genuinely cares about student success. He became one of my favorite professors. Stay on top of your lab notebook and slides. Highly recommend.
Professor Camerini made microbio easy to understand. I would recommend taking this class with him because if you took it else where it would be way harder. Kind and caring professor and makes sure that you understand everything you're learning everything you need to know for the future!
The professor is very caring, but the class is heavily based on tests and lab exams. There are very few points from homework, such as discussions or quizzes, so most of the grade comes from exams and labs. Overall, it's a challenging class, but the professor is great and I would recommend them.
Genuinely a professor invested in the progression of students taking microbiology. His grading criteria is indeed very clear, & he is very accommodating & willing to help in any reasonable way. Course is applicable to the medical field. Grade is lecture-exam-heavy, so thoroughly study all of his lecture material, & study each lab for quizzes.
Micro is not an easy class by any means, but Dr. Camerini makes it more interesting to learn! He cares a lot about the class and you can always ask help from him or the TA's, which made things a lot less difficult. The exams reflected the study material he gave us, but still make sure you study!
loved him would 100% take him again
Hes an alright professor. Be prepared to learn everything yourself he doesn't do in class lectures purely online lecture.
if u weren't religious before, pick one and start praying
