Excellent acct prof, explains material well, tests easy to follow
I dropped him the first day, if it says anything?
I would rather see rosie o'donnel run the naked mile than have this guy again!!!

Can anyone say....Professor Clumps. This guy is hard!
Teaches from powerpoint...supplied by the text book. Does not write own tests.
Great prof. if you come to learn. But, you WILL fail if you screw around.
I can tell from only 2 classes that I'd never want to take a class with him-terr
Very willing to help, keep up w/ work or will fail
He does not teach. Yells at class because we all fail. Awful teacher
Difficult class, but clear explanations and generous help made it seem easy
difficult to understand, rude, impaitient
One of the worst professors I have ever had with terrible teaching skills!
I'd rather have an enema than go to Klump/Cannon's class, thinks highly of self

Lack of structure tough to deal with in class, but a very nice person to talk to
Grade B, Knowlegde retained 0, This is a "Let's talk about me" prof.
very willing to work with you, just show effort and you will get a decent grade
He is very understanding and willing to teach those who care.
Nice person. Knowledgable but not good at teaching.

HE SUCKS, too lazy to grade the million assignments he gives us.
Class should be called, Cannon 268 because all he talks about is himself!
Be prepared to work for nothing. No assignments turned back. Decent guy though
This is the biggest waste of your time becuase of him.
lousy teacher - gives absolutely no feedback
this guys a joke, just took the final...yup, didnt know anything.
tells what is on exams, some are too stupid to realize it!
Anyone who has trouble following him is a dumbass.
smart, maybe too smart
Nice guy..very understanding & approachable. Keeps you busy w/ projects, quizzes
He likes to hear his own voice and doesn't care about the class.
Good guy.. not to sure about final grading policy.. easy class as whole
Nice guy, terrible teacher.
Extremely boring, didn't learn a thing at the end of semster. nice guy though
Horrible. said he only teaches because of the money
Very boring class, did not learn a thing, waste of my time!

This man was absolutely boring. Class is a waste of time and tests are straight from prequizzes, no need to read book or go to class. Like to spring group projects whenever he stinkin feels like it. Nice guy, but the worst prof I've ever had at GV!
hard to stay away in class. Very unclear.
Very smart man, unfortunately he is quick to point it out. tough to tell what youre doing wrong when he doesnt give you quizzes + tests back
Cannon is absolutely, without a doubt the worst professor I've EVER had! Everyday on my way to class I was miserable. I dreaded it like no other! The material is painfully boring but not not even compare to how dull Cannon is. DROP THIS CLASS! Trust me!
Good guy. Animated lectures, but the material is boring. Very boring. I give him credit for keeping us awake.
Lots of work that is never graded or handed back. Assignments and quizes are not usually relevant to the lectures. Avoid at all cost.
Great instructor - gives you guidance but lets you learn on your own in your own way. Very insightful.
Intelligent but arrogant. Likes to put people on the spot. Doesn't return homework / groupwork / quizzes - no clue on grade. Helpful when asked.
Very boring lecture. Tries to scare you off with the SUA at the beginning of the semester. It's not as bad as he says, it just takes a lot of time.

The class is easy, don't need to listen to lecture. I would often catch up on other homework in the class. The class is boring, but finally getting a good grade in an accounting class was worth it.
All I can say is suck up to him in the beginning. Don't spend a lot of time on homeworks because he won't grade them or ever hand them back. At the end of the class you have no idea where you stand. He likes to keep you guessing. You don't have to listen.
I thought it was an easy accounting class....helped the GPA. Is a boring class, but tests/prequizzes are easy. The SUA is not that bad...just requires a lot of time. Do good on that and the take-home midterm and you'll be golden.
Boring, he just rambles on, it is like incoherent bableing
NOT GOOD! He is very hard on you, thinks you should all be Grad Students. Class is pretty easy, but he makes it harder than it should be.
Very helpful. He helps his students get their money's worth and is not afraid of making positive adjustments. If you can't handle the work load you probably should not be in the business program (grad or undergrad). Enjoyed having him as a prof.
This dude probably makes 100K a year. And he doesn't do anything!!! Best job in America.
What a boring class. doesn't help students or care...SUA is horrible...avoid him
I found Dr. Cannon to be most helpful and kind. If you are an accounting major why would you need any help on the SUA? I thought it was fun! If you pay attention and take notes, you will get something out of his class. He has been a great advisor because he has been around.
He'll help if you ask for it. Class can be boring, but what can he do - it's the topic. SUA is not his fault, shouldn't be that bad if you don't put it off. Midterm take home and the SUA are key.
Too many complaints to list. If you want to learn something take someone else, if you just want an A take him.
A really nice guy, but not that great of a teacher. The class is easy but boring.
This prof knows what he is talking about and he does a good job explaining it all. He tries to give useful information. I learned a lot and got a good grade in the end, it was a win-win situation.
Class topics were difficult but he grades on a curve and tests are open book(still hard though). Book isnt really necessary, I only ever really used powerpoints. But i guess if you want to learn then buy it.
Awesome Prof! He really knows what he's talking about, works with individual students to help them out, and makes class interesting with his real-world experience. The material is tough but he grades on a curve. I really recommend this class and prof.
He's a nice guy and the class is easy. It took me 6 weeks to figure out what the class was all about. He goes on and on about the stupidest stuff. I usually tuned him out and worked on other homework in the class and still got a good grade.
Very boring class to attend, but he gives you take home exams and online "pre-quizzes" that are a bit tough but if you know how to go around the system you can get 100% on them all. I just sat on my computer surfing the net while he was giving his lectures.
Usually unprepared for class and just read from the case discussion guidelines. The course really could have been summed up in 30 minutes, but he managed to drag it out for 8 weeks.
A complete joke. I've never had a prof. who put such little effort into teaching, its as if he just didn't care if we got anything from the course. Arrogant and tough to take seriously. Got our 1st grade back with 1 week left in the semester. In 140+ credits at GV, I've never gotten less from a class. GVSU should expect more from its faculty.
He is funny, although pompous and cocky, he can keep me entertained when he isn't droning on in hours of lecture. Honestly the class isn't needed, though. You're required to read the chapter beforehand and do homework from that chapter so if you do that then the class is pointless since you already understand the concepts. Could be better.
Has a wide range of knowledge from actual experiences. He does like to go on tangents, but it keeps the class interesting. Great teacher if accounting is your niche
Unorganized, fairly boring class. Not a whole lot a work, a few group assignments. Not hard to get a good grade.
Not a very effective lecturer. He knows the subject well, but does not prepare at all for class, and relies too heavily on the slides ? which contained errors! Assignments were returned only near the end of the semester, or never. An awful presentation of what could have been a good class.
If he knows your name, you will get an A.
Worst Prof I have ever taken at GV. Class takes quizzes and exams but never know the correct answers to any of the questions. I feel we should know what we did wrong and build of that. Random essay assignments are a pain. This prof should not be teaching at all.
i would not recommend this professor. he did not use connect- which many accounting professors use and is helpful. everything was strictly based on the book and he was not a helpful teacher. better prof for those actually good at accounting
Cannon is a good professor, the problem is that it's accounting so it's not going to be a walk in the park. He doesn't use connect or online stuff which was great because you could cut down the costs of the class and the workload. Always answers questions and helps when he can. Would recommend.
A great professor if you want to actually understand accounting, not so great if all you want from the class is an A. His lectures are more focused on understanding concepts than solving problems so they won't get you ready for the test. Class is manageable if you do the homework and go to his office hours.
The summer class is more condensed; less projects, quizzes, and don't have to do a presentation. Downside is lectures are long. Dr. Cannon reads off a PowerPoint (be prepared to take notes fast). Some concepts he explains well and others not so much. He gives a take home mid-term exam that is lengthy to write. Group projects but far less than fall.
Very boring professor if you are not interested in the subject matter. Little to nothing from lectures actually matters for exams so don't worry too much. Fairly easy class; just a lot of random long homework/group assignments. Exams came from online quizzes that can't see the answer to unless you get 100% on the quiz which is very frustrating.
Lectures are very, very boring. No need to pay attention though, the exam questions are based on online quizzes. So many group assignments. Didn't learn much. The longest 3 hours to go through each week.
Boring. Boring. Boring. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he never stops talking. I always felt like I was trapped with no way out. And, he doesn't grade most of the exams and hw turned in till the very end of the semester so you have no idea how you're doing. Can't say I learned much either... too boring to pay any attention.
This man was the reason I got a good job after college. He gets a lot of negative feedback because he, unfortunately, teaches a boring topic. However, he has extensive knowledge on accounting and IT. Pick his brain. He talks a lot, but what he says has tremendous value.
Prof. Cannon is one of my favorite professors at GVSU. He is possilby the only ACC prof that does not use Connect (the online book). He believes accounting is to be learned "at the tip of a pencil" and by the end of the class I agreed. 3-4 exams that are challenging, homework for each chapter (credit-no credit) and easy extra credit. Great prof.
Professor Cannon is the best prof at GV, he saved my life.
He is awful. He has no idea what he is doing and is one of the only if not the only accounting professor who tries to lecture with little to no examples. He does not grade home work for accuracy so until the exam you have no idea if youre doing it right. You have 8 hours of home work a week
Hes okay. The class is not structured well and I feel as if thats what threw me off. Homework for a chapter is due before he teaches you the chapter so have fun. I just didnt like accounting either.
Overall a good professor. Requires a lot of group work and definitely appreciates participation.
Cannon seemed alright at first but as the weeks went on, he stopped teaching. He would just go through PowerPoint slides which were just the book pages. LOTS of homework. Basically a teach yourself class.
Professor Cannon is extremely boring and you learn nearly nothing with him as a professor. Additionally, you never know the grade you have in the class with him as he doesn't update blackboard. Definitely a lazy professor and try to avoid him if you want to learn anything.
Cannon doesn't deserve the bad rep he gets on here. He's a quirky dude but a good teacher. I enjoyed his classes. The first half of the class felt heavy but after that it got pretty light. Doesn't grade everything you do and doesn't really use blackboard. Exams are take-home essays with around 15 MC q's. DO NOT CALL HIM PROFESSOR KLUMP
He makes you do the homework before he even teaches the subject, so that's really difficult. He also has no examples on his powerpoint slides, it's almost as if he thinks you already have taken an accounting class. This is pretty much a teach yourself class, and it's not an easy class to try and learn on your own.
He is the reason I changed my major to accounting. He's super nice and is fully capable of explaining things in more than one way. He's easy to talk to and he knows what he's talking about not just about accounting.
He knows what he is talking about when it comes to accounting, but he doesn't do a very good job of making sure the students know. He grades homework only on participation so you have no idea if you're doing it right, and it's hours of work that's only worth 3 points. He got lazier and the class eventually was just a waste of time towards the end.
If you have the option of chooisng any other professor I suggest you take it. He did a terrible job of explaining everything, the only way I was able to learn the material was by going to tutoring. He doesnt check if the Hw you turn in is correct so you have no idea if you are doing it right.
If you can take a different professor do it! You can tell he knows the material but does a horrible job of teaching it. Homework is assigned before you even learn that chapter and takes hours! You turn in homework for completion so you never know if its done correctly or not. He has a funny personality but can come off as rude at times.
He's a nice, but not a strong professor. If you want to take the class because you want to be an auditor, you will not learn enough to make it. He's emotional. He graded one exam all semester. He did ALL the semester grading on the last weekend before submitting the final exam to the school. Never gave feedback on personal papers unless hunted down
