I loved this class. The teacher is awesome. Very informative, and fun! Tests are easy if you study. I would highly recommend this teacher. Best one ive had at GGC so far.
If you were debating between music appreciation and art appreciation. Take Art appreciation with David Cook. Not only will you learn tons of information about art but if you pay attention you will get an A. He also gives very little HW and gives out study guides to help as you follow his lectures. Very helpful teacher! highly recommended!
Prof Cook is an extremely helpful, extremely enthusiastic teacher who wants nothing more than to help you get an A in his class. I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook, though - you'll only actually use it for maybe the first three weeks. Other than that, one of the best professors I've had.
Talking about art can be boring but the professor keeps in rolling to make it interesting. Study hard for the exams and you will do fine.
Dr. Cook is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He knows so much more than the course material and makes the class extremely interesting. He's been featured on the History Channel multiple times, too!
Great professor!!! Strongly recommended~
AMAZING PROFESSOR! Took him for Art Appreciation and was super easy. Rarely used the textbook, rarely given homework, learned a lot, often let class go early so we could do hands on assignments, not too boring, and really nice. Take him :)
he's the best professor ever!!! i wish al the professors were like him. forreal! also he has a facebook to keep in touch with students. :) haha. awesome dude! easy A.
He's nice and sweet. Whoever graded him bad just because they didn't want to participate. I like him and easy too.
I really enjoy Professor Cook's class. He is very passionate about art and makes it very interesting. He has study guides for each test, so just print them out and fill them in while he lectures. He is my 2nd favorite professor at GGC...Dr. Wilkes is my 1st!
Dr. Cook is a wonderful professor. He provides study guides, that are easy to fill/follow during his lectures. Extra credit for museum visits. Attendance is more important than the book. Take this professor!
Great professor! I thought it was just going to be a boring class about art history, but Prof. David made it interesting. His lectures were enough to keep me intrigue, and he was very helpful when you don't understand. I would take the class again just to listen to him talk about art history. BTW, attendance is mandatory to understand the art.
Dr. Cook is an amazing professor. He is passionate and enthusiastic about the subject which makes learning enjoyable. The class was not hard at all (as much as students complained). Cook posted study guides for all the tests at the beginning of the semester for which the tests were word for word. He also gives 20% ex. credit for visiting 2 museums.
WONDERFUL TEACHER! He explains in detail with such passion about his subject. He also is very well traveled and gives his experiences, which keeps class interesting. I HIGHLY recommend him!
Professor Cook is a wonderful teacher. He is extremely helpful, clear in his teaching, and teaches class with full details and passion. Although it required a bit of work. I enjoyed this class a lot. I learned very much from his class. I was never interested in learning Arts but, after i too his class I started liking arts. Awesome teacher!Enjoy :)
Professor Cook is a fantastic teacher. This was a very enjoyable class, and I am NOT an art major. The material was interesting and Professor Cook is very knowledgable. Definitly recommend this teacer.
Great art teacher! The assignments he assigned were all very interesting and helpful. He was always available for help and critique of your work. HIGHLY recommend. Great guy.
Dr. Cook gets an A++++.He is excellent. He knows his stuff and he makes it very easy for you to understand and keep an interest in his class. I had him for art appreciation and drawing. He gives you a study guide for his tests in Art Appreciation which he goes over with you making sure you have it all answered. Highly recommended
He really understands how busy students get so he doesn't make his class extremely difficult. If you try.. you will pass. DO THE STUDY GUIDES!

Awesome professor, he is so enthusiastic about art and teaching it was great experience. I learned a lot in his class and recommend it over any other electives
The fist day of class, i walked in and he was wearing a suit and some converse. I was automatically in love. He is so funny and loves his subject. Cook is so sweet and is a really genuine professor and it reflects in his teaching abilities. He is unbelievably knowledgable and understanding. He is one of the absolute best professors i've ever had.
Dr. Cook is extremely easy going. I took him at 8am. He is always in a cheerful mood and really loves teaching art appreciation. He only use slides to display pictures, other than that he teaches from all the information he knows! All of his tests are directly from the study guild! I would love to take his class again.
His drawing class was great. I was the worst artist in his class, but yet he always graded me well since he know I was trying my best. I would take him again for sure.
He's an amazing teacher. He really gets you interested in Art Appreciation. If you take art you should definitely take Cook.
If UR going to take Art Appreciation & U dont take Dr. Cook.. UR CRAZY! He is so laid back & easy going..who doesnt want that from a college prof. But at the same time he teaches U & wants you to succeed. He does repeat himself a lot but thats something I can handle bc hes so cool. If U visit a museum you get 10 POINTS on UR grade. HES GREAT YALL!!
Easiest professor. His love for art shows through his teaching. Study guide is exact same as the test so no way to fail at all. Gives plenty of extra credits which are all due at the end of the semester. take him if you don't want to stress out and have an easy, relaxing class.
Very easy professor! He really loves art. You usually just listen to him talk about art in class, but he is very helpful. The tests come straight from the study guide, so the tests are easy to pass. Very nice guy too
Before the class, I was never a fan of art and took this class as part of requirements. Dr. Cook is extremely passionate about what he does and you can tell by the way he talks. His tests come straight from the study guides. Definitely a class worth taking
Very good professor, laid back, knows his subject and made me like art. Focus on study guides for test and final exam for an easy A.., I recommand highly recommand him ... take his class if you are not an art major, you will pass the class with an easy A
He is a very nice person , always telling jokes, he makes the art class interesting, easy exam, which are based on the study guide.
sweet and is always helpful and he always gives opportunity to improve your grade like extra credit. His extra credit is basically go to a museum and take a picture of yourself there and give him your ticket and thats it. His test are too easy! He hands out study guides and its exactly like the test.
Dr. Cook is amazing. Very kind, helpful, and funny too. There are 4 exams and he provides study guides for all of them. Study them and you'll make A's on the exams. He offers extra credit too. I took his class once a week, but we still got out an hour early most of the time. Overall, great professor. Definitely take him, you'll learn and do well!
This class was great. If you attend class it's an easy A. His tests are exactly the study guide he gives. Memorize the study guide and you'll get 100 on the test. He is very nice and is there to help. Always let us out early and still managed to teach everything. Would take him again for sure!
OHMAHLAWD TAKE HIM. I am the biggest slacker, and I have a 98. Really. Don't need a book, PRINTS guides for you. Tests are mc, word for word the study guides. Only 4 tests. Usually done in half an hour, very understanding. I missed a TON of classes and still have an A. Extra credit SUPER EASY and bumps your overall grade 10 POINTS! Easiest prof!
Easiest class i have ever taken. Four tests straight from the study guide. Word for word. Failed the first test and still got an A. Go to class and youll get an A. Extra credit is 10%
EASIEST PROF EVER. If you don't take him, it's because you want to fail. This man will lay everything at your feet. USE IT. TAKE HIM. SAVE YOUR GPA.
I took this class for 4 weeks in the summer which is the best way to take it. You'll be learning about the history of art. Mr. Cook was a very interesting, cool funny guy. Quizes everyday multiple choice test. Easy class.
Professor Cook is a really nice guy and genuinely cares about his students. His tests are straight from the study guide and he doesn't require a textbook. He knows what he's talking about and is passionate about what he is teaching. He gives a ton of extra credit. If you don't get an A then it's cause you didn't try.
take him!!! super cool and chill guy, 3 tests no final. goes over the study guide with you before the test to make sure you have everything correct. no reason not to get an A in his class!!!
hilly recommend him! 3 test, no final and if you go to a museum and wrote a short essay about it, he bumps you up a letter grade! Best art professor I've taken!
Dr. Cook is an awesome professor. Follow his study guides and you will pass, GOT 100% ON EACH TESTS THANKS TO THE STUDY GUIDES. There are 3 tests, and attendance that determine your grade, NO FINAL! Art lovers encouraged. PICK HIM PICK HIM PICK HIM!
Really great professor. Art isn't really a subject I care about but he kept it fresh and didn't drag on. When we were done we were done and test are exactly like the study guides.
He's such GREAT art professor! class is not mandatory but you don't want to miss a lecture anyway. He makes art fun and interesting to understand. If you don't get an A in this class than you are really trying to fail.
Professor Cook, is the very good teacher, come to class everyday and take the notes he put on board and on the slide. Pay attention to his quiz at the end of the lecture because they come in the test. Overall he is excellent teacher.
He is awesome. Just show up to class and fill out the study guide. He literally fills it out with you. The tests are super easy (the tests are the study guide.) If you fail this, then you simply tried really hard to fail, because he gives you extra credit towards your final average for the three museum visits that you do. He's also very funny.
Dr. Cook makes art so much fun and interesting! He is such a good lecturer. He makes you want to pay attention. Three tests in the semester. He gives you study guides, which he makes sure you have the correct answers. His tests come from the study guide. You have to TRY to fail. Passed class with a 100.
SUMMER CLASS No, the 5.0 is not a lie. He is an easy professor! Just 3 study guides and that's it! Cook is cringe with some puns but that's all. Very nice older man to talk to. Not intimidating. Very light and happy on a daily basis. He is fun albeit some lectures are sleep worthy. You take notes daily (that's the only thing u do). Took for credit.
He is an outgoing professor. He gives Study guides and you can simply find the answers when he is given his lectures so print out your study guide to write the answers down.
He's great. He gives so many extra credit opportunities, you can't fail! Just show up and study a bit for tests and you're good to go Art History that is straight to the point
HE IS THE SWEETEST PERSON EVER! HIS CLASS IS NOT BORING AND HE MAKES IT VERY INTERESTING BY GIVING REAL LIFE EXAMPLES. ITS A VERY EASY CLASS AND HE IS A GEM OF A HUMAN BEING.
HE IS LITERALLY THE NICEST TEACHER EVER! If you are taking are for just an elective or even your major I 10 out of 10 recommend him. Lectures are easy to understand and you only have 3 exams no final. Exams all have study guides and are exact no exam which are MC. SUPPERRRRR EASY LOVE HIM!
LITERALLY THE NICEST PROF EVER. SUPER EASY, IF YOU NEED FOR CREDIT, TAKE HIM. ONLY GRADES ARE 3 EXAMS (EXACTLY LIKE STUDY GUIDES) AND PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE. WOULD TAKE AGAIN. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP FOR REVIEW SESSIONS, THAT'S WHEN YOU GIVES ANSWERS TO STUDY GUIDES.
Professor Cook is literally one of the best professors EVER. He makes his class so enjoyable and it is impossible to fail (unless you just never go to class). There is NO REASON YOU SHOULDN'T GET AN A IN HIS CLASS. The study guides will be your best friend. Definitely take him if you can! You won't regret it.
Show up for review days Bc that's when he does answers for study guides . The study guide is the test !!! Exactly like it ! Attendance is mandatory just sign in ! Only 3 exams AND IF you go to a museum write a lil paragraph on your experience take a picture of something there . BOOM A IN THE CLASS TAKE PROFESSOR COOK!!!
This teacher is amazing and the class is so easy. He makes it very enjoyable for everyone to appreciate. We have both lecture and painting (free) days. Only 3 exams and NO FINAL! All exams have a study guide which he gives answers too and are EXACT EXACT as on exam day! Would highly take again :)
I would take this class over again. Professor is real down to earth. Total of 3 exams, also gives extra credit opportunities. Does not require textbook.
The best Art professor at GGC. Initially I was really skeptical of his teaching style because he does not provide power points for his lectures, but now I love his teaching style because instead of writing notes your concentrating in learning the material. He really does know Art history and he is really passionate about the subject. Take him
Great professor who will make you a fan of art. There are only three exams. Each exam is fairly easy if you pay attention in class, take notes, and take the exam study guides seriously. Highly recommend!
Show up & pass. Easy A. He gives out study guides before the 3 tests and tells us all the answers so that's all you need to study. No final. Gives out tons of extra credit opportunities, although nobody needs them.
Professor Cook is an amazing teacher! If there is any negative comment on here the student had to literally not study tests we go over together. He makes work and tests easy by the way he conducts the class. He is extremely passionate about art and you can tell by his character and charisma! Take him please! an easy 100, you just have to study!
Mr Cook is an awesome teacher. His class was easy. Show up, take some notes, pay attention. He provides you with the study guide ahead of time so you can fill it in and he'll review it with the class before the exam. He also gives you the option to get extra credit. He really cares about art and that comes through in his lectures.
It was a summer course. As expected of a high rating, Dr. Cook amazingly showed his compassion for art and history in such an inspirational way. We have to complete 3 study guides and there is no tests or exams. He dont have the powerpoints that show all the words but the lessons were conveyed by his stories and experiences travelling around.
TAKE HIM! Cook is a great professor. Yes he does do powerpoint lectures, but youll enjoy his class. Very straight forward class. Do the study guides; they are literally the exam. Very cool class with a very cool professor. Wont need the book just do your study guides for an easy A!!
His lecture are over the study guide that he puts on D2L . all you Have to do is download the study guide and fill in the answers while in class and the exams are on the study guide . and he never gives assignments. he was a pleasure to take and a really nice professor
Had professor Cook for a mandatory art credit and he made the class very interesting and fun. His test are very easy and there was minimal homework.
He's passionate about art and that really makes the material even more interesting. He passed around an attendance sheet every day, and even if you come in like 15 minutes before class ends you can sign it. The day before a test he goes over the study guide which Is basically a replica of the test. if you fail wyd sis ?
TAKE HIM! You would be silly not to take him for art appreciation. I honestly have no idea how one could not pass with an A. I did not take notes until the day he went over the study guides and I still made 100% on the tests! There is no outside homework, just three tests! Overall, easy class and such a wonderful professor.
Mr. Cook was great. He really loves art and every element of Art. All he will give you are 3 test, no quizzes, hw, or exams. Study because his test are multiply choice and some fill in the blank . Your 1st test is your midterm grade and last two will average for your final grade . No final exam. If you fail his class its because you are lazy Period
Dr. Cook's honestly the best professor you could take for art, and easily one of the best professors at GGC. He's caring and the only professor who wishes for students to contact him even after the semester. 3 tests, multi choice, taken directly from study guides which he provides answers to in class. no hw or quizzes either, tons of extra credit.
Great professor, but too easy. I like to apply myself and you didn't need to in his class. So I probably wouldn't take him again. Really funny and sweet though. 3 tests, no final. Study guide test... literally. If you visit an art museum he will bump you a LETTER GRADE for each one you visit. Very passionate about the subject which was cool
Class is so easy. Attendance counts for 1/4 of your grade. The only other grades are 3 tests. The study guides are the exact same questions as the tests. Class always ends early. The day before the test he goes over the study guide. No notes are necessary, just listen the day he goes over the study guide and you are guaranteed to pass.
His study guides are literally the test. During his class just sit back and enjoy the art tests are super easy! He cares about you as a student so if you're having problems just let him know.
The easiest class you will ever take in college. All he did was talk through a powerpoint and class always ended early. You don't have to take notes or anything, you just sit there. The tests were exact copies of the study guides and he gave you the answers to the study guides. 3 unit tests and no final exam. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
He is the best professor I have ever had. He is super kind and nice. Class is 3 test super easy if you complete the study guide. Show up and u will get a A!
This professor is very passionate about art, he really knows his stuff and has been all over the world to look at art. He is very friendly and does not give a lot of work. Would take again.

TAKE THIS CLASS UNDER THIS PROFESSOR! Great class and to the point assignments. Always willing to help especially helping out with missed assignments. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and enjoyed the professor's instructing style.
I would recommend taking Professor Cook. He's a chill guy and is willing to help you if you ask him. The class itself is SUPER easy and the assignments aren't difficult at all. Take this Professor if you want an easy A on your GPA.
He's a great professor and as long as you put in the work he will be willing to help you.
nicest professor everrr , i took him during the pandemic he's very understanding and work was very easy just filling out questions
The most chill prof ever. Class is always interesting. No tests, quizzes, midterms, or final. Just complete a few assignments before the due date.
Seems to enjoy his job. I enjoyed his class. At first was a bit skeptical about taking an Arts History, but I am extremely grateful to hear to his lectures and expand my knowledge on a subject I've wondered about, but never had the urge to study about.
He's such a sweet nice teacher, online course consisted of 3 assignments that were 30 questions each (you have a 1 1/2 month to do them each) and 4 small assignments that were 4 questions each. Easiest class I've ever taken.
He is a very understanding professor. He will give you plenty of time to complete your work especially if you like working at your own pace.
Great professor! He is nice, will answer any questions if you have trouble and an easy grader. Will definitely take again.
Easiest art class ever! Professor Cook was super nice and understanding! The work is easy, 7 assignments total! Just answering questions. He is very witty.
Just take him, don't hesitate
He uses power point and the assignments are easy
Overall in the semester is a total of seven assignments. Very easy to do he will give you a month to complete them. So if you want to take art appercation take it with him
(Pre-Covid) He is a cool dude that just wants us to understand and learn a bit more about art. It's a lot of power point lectures, but he talks about how we can explore it. There are study guides that are literally what the tests are based on. I see that according to other ratings, he only does assignments now. Nice! That suits the class better ngl
I would recommend taking his class super very nice cool teacher very outgoing teacher very understanding definitely would take it again.
the sweetest guy ever. no final exam. easy assignments. no papers. i took him in the summer, and he let us work at our own pace. easy A. amazing guy. even though attendance wasn't mandatory, i still made an effort to show up bc not a lot of people come and i don't want his efforts and passion for teaching to go to waste.
No final, no midterm, no tests, no book required, and attendance is only required the first week. If you have to take an art class, take his. only 7 assignments, and it's all online at your own pace. This was a 14-week course, and I was able to easily knock all of the work out in 3 weeks. Highly recommended!
The only thing I am going to say is that I finished this entire course within 2 DAYS! You can figure out the rest. (:
Only 7 easy assignments. No tests. No quizzes. No exams. This is a 13-week course and I completed all of the work in 2 and got an A.
Best Art teacher in GGC! No stress at all, you could literally finish up his class in a week if you want to. Please take him!
With only 3 assignments and 4 small "challenges" you can take the class at your own pace. He's really nice take him if you can
Good prof, not too many assignments and he gives you all the information you need for the assignments. Easy class and the lectures were good but not mandatory!
I really liked his class made me fall in love with art even more and I learned things even so take his class you won't regret it. his class is also self-paced so you can finish it in a week or less you have no quiz grades no exams just assignments and challenges but hope this helps good luck to future students
