Copeland is a good teacher. He knows what he's talking about and I learned alot in this class. he is also a slash and burn grader. This was the hardest A I have ever worked for. he also made a mean comment about my intellegence after I left the room once. Also hes very vague on whats going on tests. If your up for the challenge of your life take Co
Don't buy the book its useless. Just come to class and pay attention. Copeland is an extremely hard grader. I would not take Copeland again unless i absolutely had too.
good class and good teacher, but you have to work a little. Didn't use the book much. Study lecture notes.
He's a good teacher and he makes the lectures interesting.
really good teacher. He breaks the paper into sections to make it easier and he gives helpfull comments. He tries to include humor in his lectures which helps make the topic more interesting. I learned a lot and would take one of his classes again.
Great prof! His lectures are very interesting and fun!
The prof was nice and the class was pretty interesting. I'm thinking of majoring in psych.
Dr. Copeland was a great prof. I took him over the summer and the class was extremely easy. If you show up, pay attention, and take notes, you will do fine in the class. He does give study guides before exams. The tests are easy as long as you study for them. He is really laid back and makes the class fun. I would recommend taking him.
Awesome guy!!!! Show up for class and take notes! Don't NEED BOOK. Really makes the class interesting and the paper doesn't even seem that difficult because he helps you through it section by section!!! There are study guides before each test! LOOK OVER THAT and make sure you know it and you should be fine!!! ENJOYED HIS CLASS VERY MUCH!
Great guy, awesome professor. Goes through a lot of material very quickly, so be ready to take a lot of notes. Tests are easy as long as you spend a good couple of hours studying and you take good notes. I never opened the book once - just used my notes. Projects/Paper is reasonable. You have to work for your A, but it's not impossible.
He's awesome! Such a nice guy. His classes are pretty note intensive, but they are crucial if you want to do well on the tests. Paper and presentation were easy, STUDY FOR ALMOST DAILY POP QUIZZES!!
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!!!! You will not use it at all...I learned this the hard way. All you have to do is take notes and pay attention; study almost daily for quizzes. He is a slash and burn grader; your grade is not negotiable. Hard to escape grade stereotype once he makes it. Tests are very simple if you put in the time. Hard A!!!!!!!HARD!!!!!
Good, solid research methods class. David has free text materials.Don't buy the book. Quizzes are frequent buy easy as long as you review your notes before class. Paper is done in manageable sections w/chances for revision before it's turned in. Tests are comprehensive, but easy if you study and ask questions. Would take a class with David again.
Loved Dr. Copeland. Incredibly nice and caring. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I never used it for this class. Tests are easy and straightforward. I learned a lot and still retain the info more than a year later!
Easily one of the best professors at UNLV. Has a perfect teaching style that challenges the student but is not unrealistic. Makes you keep up with the material throughout the course and you actually retain it once the course is done. Study to keep up with daily quizzes and cumulative exams and you'll get an A. There's a large paper, but it's easy
Be prepared to do a lot of studying. If you do not study on a daily basis you are going to be screwed!
Psych/ Film was a very easy class. We watched movies and discussed psychological events in the film. We had food during movies that was very fun. I am going to take PSY 240 with him in the near future. He is really a cool and laid back guy!!! All smily faces to him. I reccommend him to many students to come!
Copeland is a wonderful instructor! He is affable and very helpful. Although he is friendly, he is not a push-over. Study for his class, for he will be quizzing you constantly. He really makes you want to learn and grasp the concepts even more. he genuinely cares if you are understanding the material. Thumbs up all around!
great Prof. Really nice guy, very helpful. I enjoyed his class. I recommend him to anyone interested in psychology.
easy class, awesome teacher. really into "hands on" approach and activities. super fun teacher, never had trouble staying awake in his class, he likes to tell really cheesy jokes all the time. don't bother buying the book, wish i knew that beforehand.
good class, I enjoyed it very much. engaging, entertaining, definitely worth taking. Dr Copeland makes the class painless, doesn't feel like lecture at all. if you don't miss class you don't need the book. seriously, don't get it.
I'm not a psychology major (only class I've taken prior to this was 101) but this class was lots of fun, probably one of my favorite classes in college so far. he makes sure you get the most out of lecture time so if you go to class everyday you can get an A by just cramming a bit right before the test.
I'm not sure how this professor conducts himself in class but for the online class his responses to my emailed questions have been abrasive, defensive & unhelpful. Quizzes are "Mark All Correct Answer" format so if you check one too many or too few options, you miss the entire question-you dont even get partial credit for the parts you got correct.
I've had the pleasure of taking classes by this professor at the University and Community College and both times were a pleasure. He's clear and precise and if you can read directions, it's not hard to get a good grade.
He is very entertaining
I took his class during the summer, and I was glad he was my professor. He is friendly, pleasant, and helpful. His lecture is crystal clear, entertaining, and well organized. I would say 99% of the questions came from the lecture, and he gave out most of the information verbally, so make sure you come to the class, and stay awake the entire time.
Great teacher, great course! I took it online over the summer which saved a lot of time. Since this course is only worth 1 credit, it was definitely easy. Rent the book, get ahead, and save yourself from procrastination. This intro to the psychology major really shows you all of your possibilities. Quizzes & 2 short writing assignments.
Dr. Copeland is the best! His lectures are always engaging and clear. Class attendance is mandatory as he likes to give pop quizzes at least once a week.
I took Psy 200 online and Copeland gave generally good feedback and encouraging comments.
He is a great professor! If you have to take this class, take it with him!! I liked a lot of the information given out, it was very very helpful. It was easy: online lectures, readings from the bookarticles, answering a poll question, a hw assignment and a quiz each week. That's it, it was really not that hard. I'm glad I took this course.
this was a lot of work for a 1 credit course. as a teacher though he was helpful and clear. this course offers a lot of really helpful information.
He is very easy to understand and it is easy to know what to expect from him. He lays out everything perfectly. I definitely want to take more of his classes.
As long as you show up and listen, he gives you everything that you need. He doesn't try to trick you on the tests, they are straight forward. You will have to review your notes, but he makes class interesting so you want to listen and participate. Loved his class, he is an amazing professor!
For a one credit class, this was fairly time consuming and difficult to maintain a good grade. The work was not difficult, there is simply only 200 points for the entire course. However, Dr. Copeland is a great professor. He genuinely cares about teaching you about the psychology major.
It's an online class so there's no real attendance. However, if you don't go on webcampus to take your quizzes and do your homework then expect to fail. Fairly easy class, pay attention to the videos(they are required to answer the quizzes). This course teaches you about the psychology major/field at UNLV.
He was a good professor, but for a 1 credit course there was a lot of work, I am a third year psych major student and I didn't know this class was a mandatory class, so I am not new to psychology, but this course does prepare you for what is needed if you are interested in grad school.
SUPER EASY ONLINE CLASS. I recommend taking him! It is lecture videos heavy but it's superrrr easy.
Very, very easy online class. The weekly quizzes are open note, and there is usually something you have to write about on the discussion board after the quiz. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an easy A, but still is looking to get extremely useful information out of a course.
Prof. Copeland provides students with a lot of helpful information that really exposes students to the field of psychology. Either a quiz, discussion post, correction activity, or some combination of those items is due every week. There can be lots to read here and there, but most, if not all, of the readings are interesting and informative.
Took this class online and Dr. Copeland gave me all the materials I needed in order to get an A. He sends weekly reminders and really wants his students to succeed. Do your work on time (no late work accepted) and answer the discussions well and you will get an A.
If you are a Psych major at unlv then you HAVE to take this class. Dr. Copeland seems to be the main teacher for it. He seems nice enough (it's online so I don't really know in person). However, some of the APA assignments he grades really strictly so make sure that you double check perfectly on those ones. Overall you should be fine.
I took this prof for psy 200. It is a mandatory class, but he made it very enjoyable and there is a lot to be learned from him. Be prepared to read, do online test/quizzes. (I did the online course). It is busy work, but easy. Nice guy, gets right to you should you need help.
Dr. Copeland is a fantastic professor. PSY200 is basically an amalgamation of essential, practical advice for anyone interested in pursuing psych. There is only one module per week that can be knocked out in 1-2 hours--- My advice for taking this course is to stay on top of assignments, and apply what you learn!
GREAT GREAT professor! Very helpful professor. I can truly say he was been one of the best professor I've had. Highly recommend! Read all his material, they're very helpful and beneficial for your future.
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON ASSIGNMENTS!! Dr. Copeland is very clear, helpful, accessible, and overall a good professor. He offers a lot of extra credit. PSY 200 should be an easy and helpful class. DO your work on time, FOLLOW clear directions, ask him for any help, and you should be fine.
A very nice & caring professor. This course is super easy, do your work + don't be lazy and you'll earn yourself an A. He is also very helpful; if you ever have any questions on any assignment (which are all super easy), don't be afraid to ask him! Highly recommended.
Professor Copeland really wants you to succeed and do well in Psychology. He really cares and the assignments he makes you do are worth it in my opinion (had no idea what a CV stood for until this class). It is fairly simple as long as you do not fall behind. I wanted to work ahead in this course but he only opens up so many modules at a time.
I worked so hard in this class, I did well on all of my quizzes BUT he has three assignments that are not weighed out correctly for your final grade and he is a VERY hard grader!! For example we have to conduct a interview then submit the typed version of it and it is only worth 5 points but a CV is worth 30.
Professor Copeland is a tough grader, you had better to be sure every space and coma is done correctly. However the class is simple to navigate and as long as you communicate with him he is wonderful, understanding, and goes up and beyond for his students.
He is a wonderful prof, and you can tell he cares too. Class consists of mini articles you have to read then take an easy quiz on by Sunday every week. Some major assignments (CV, APA format), but that's it. No class discussions (woo!) No reason you can't get an A!
Professor Copeland is very direct with what he wants from his students. He is a tough grader and will point out every flaw you make on a single assignment. The CV assignment is worth 30 points, so make sure to do well on it. He is very helpful and he wants his students to succeed.
Dr. Copeland is a great professor. He really cares about his students. He would send many emails to remind students about the weeks assignments that must be completed as well as other opportunities regarding everything Psychology. Very detailed in exactly what he requires for each assignment which can be tedious at times. Overall, simple class.
Was not clear on assignments. He would let us study mod 14 and then the quiz had nothing to do with the assignment being studied.
Cares about students needs. Class is an easy A if you are actively engaged.
Took him for my Psych 200 class online. Excellent professor, provides students with all the tools you need in order to get an A in his class. Responds quickly to emails, and provides good feedback, as well as extra credit opportunities. Despite messing up on a few assignments, he ended up rounding my 79% to a B! Awesome guy who cares about students
Weekly quiz or activity. No textbook required, readings are provided. I am a JR and barely taking this class and by far an amazing class! Prof provides so much valuable information and is super caring and involved. He always let's the class know he is there for any questions. Highly recommend bc you'll learn a lot & be able to manage other courses!
This class was very informative if you jumped into psychology not knowing what you want to do. He is very helpful with finding organizations and events for students to attend. He is very enthusiastic in helping students
It's an online class so it's pretty simple, do the modules and you can get an A. He clearly states which readings are important for the quizzes so you can open them on another tab and the assignments weren't difficult. His grading criteria is clear and he encourages students to email him with any concerns. Keep up with the final project to do well.
He seems to genuinely care about his students and their future. The readings were funny and it didn't feel like boring textbook readings. Very clear on grading and pretty easy to get an A. I would definitely recommend him to others.
Dr. Copeland is a great professor. Even though this course isn't very intensive, he still made it fun. The readings and examples he used throughout the course were very easy to follow and the activities/quizzes were easy as well (provided you read what you were supposed to). He is very understanding and his grading criteria is very straightforward.
Easy A. Modules take 20-30 minutes max and the textbook is an easy and short read. He gets kinda too cheery and harpy in his 'inspirational' calls to action, but nonetheless I didn't mind taking this required class.
Professor Copeland clearly cares about the success of his students even beyond his own class. He frequently sends out new opportunities in the psychology field as he hears about them whether they are useful to his class or just something to add to your CV. Just read the assigned chapters and take the quizzes and you'll do well.
This class is easy, and what you learn will be beneficial if you don't already know it. Dr. Copeland was encouraging and wanted to help students be aware of many opportunities. I emailed him once about grad school, and he was helpful in addressing my concerns. He really wants students to put effort into their academic careers and succeed.
A coma out of place and you will lose points. He is not an inspirational professor.
Had him for the summer so tho the class was shorter the instructions were clear and he was easy to communicate with. Gave lots of resources out of class too, nice guy who cares about the his students futures. Mostly just modules to read and quizzes to answer, as long as you know what you're looking for you'll pass
Really interesting and helpful class. Professor Copeland has a lot of knowledge and is super helpful. The class consisted of readings and videos sometimes with weekly quizzes and activities. The quizzes weren't hard but some questions were tricky.
It is clear that Dr. Copeland wants his students to succeed. The module assignments are fairly easy as long as you read the book carefully, and do the rest of the activities. He is open to answering your questions if you are confused and is willing to work with you! Sends opportunities via emails, and an easy course!
I cannot say enough good things about Professor Copeland. He is the sweetest, most caring teacher you'll ever have. I learned so much about the major and degree I'm going for in his class than I have from advisors. I set up a meeting with him outside of class and he was really happy to help and link me to some programs to help build my resume!
It's disingenuous that this course was created to "help students" when in reality it's just a money grab. When I found a way to make an assignment easier for myself, (especially without doing anything wrong or copying others' work) I was punished for it. Very easy class, but ultimately a waste of my money and time. Don't get the book.
Class is well organized, I took it online. Would highly recommend. Book is required, he wrote it himself though so the reading material is pretty easy to comprehend.
Professor Copeland's class was great! It forces you to think about your career after college. One of the most useful classes I've taken thus far. Clear grading criteria, all you have to do is the work and you are sure to get a good grade. Good luck!
Professor Copeland is very intellectual in his course material and you gain so much just from the books alone getting you prepared further into your academic career. There is a lot of studying and work but you learn extremely well information to include how to write an APA paper if you've never done so and the unlimited possibilities within psych.
Copeland is definitely a respected professor, as he wrote the psychology textbook you use in class. Speaking of, you will definitely need it, as the quizzes and activities are based directly on the information in there. While there are a lot of homework assignments, they are quite easy, and usually do not take too long to complete.
10/10 Great professor!! Learned so much from his course. There's so much information given from his class that I used and will continue to be using throughout college. Will work things out if you need to turn assignments in late. Really hard to fail his course unless you truly don't do anything. Really nice guy and couldn't recommend him more.
Dr. Copeland is an amazing professor. One of the best qualities about him is that he wants you to succeed, and he is always there if you ever have any questions regarding classwork or your future goals. There is a lot of reading involved, but it's manageable. Short and easy assignments are done quickly. Utilize the time to speak with him if needed.
For an online class, you can feel the presence of Dr. Copeland as there are a plethora of videos included, whether it be general tips or interviews with other professionals. Meeting with Dr. Copeland was also incredibly informative and helpful! He's pretty funny and kind, wants to see psychology students succeed, and is willing to support you!
Dr.Copeland is a very involved professor and is always willing to help you. I found his class to be very useful and informative; it's definitely a great guide in your academic career. Weekly modules are not hard to follow so it's very easy to maintain a good grade in this course.
For a 1 credit course, it is a lot of work. Quizzes are fairly easy, as long as you have the textbook at hand. Super lenient and provides great feedback. Lovely professor and I learned a lot, even if I didn't give my 100% effort into things. You do have to have a peer mentor meeting, which is hard with scheduling, but they were kind and nice.
Really easy class and it was actually one of my most helpful classes so far. You actually learn what you can do with a psychology bachelor.
Dr. Copeland is great! Assignments were weekly 4 question quizzes, career expert videos, a pre and post assessment, and the final assignment at the end of the semester. Most students left after the quiz was over, but if you stay for the lecture he provides really great information. Quizzes are easy if you do the reading beforehand. Great class!
Grading is based on showing up to class once a week and taking mini quizzes. His textbook requirement does have a lot of good information, but it is not necessary to be successful in any of the quizzes or get an A. You can tell he genuinely cares about students in his class, and he even met with me outside of class to discuss career paths.
This guy is very picky when it comes to grading and is very passive aggressive in his emails. Will not be taking him again.
This course could have been a 3 seminar vice and entire semester and it is a lot of work for a one credit course. The expectation is that students provide real information for big assignments.
