Some midterm questions are taken from assignments. He gives a lot of practice questions which really helps prepare you for the midterms.
hands down the best professor ive ever had
Easily the best Prof I've ever had. Definitely the best at MRU. He's a fair marker and explains everything extremely well. Very respectful, and genuinely cares about students success. Would definitely recommend for any class.
Very good professor, the first one I have ever went out of my way to write a review for. Great at teaching concepts and is really fair marker!
Truly an amazing professor! He cares about his students so much and wants you to do well. He makes sure to focus on students that don't understand and teaches you the material until it is clear. As a person that hates finance, David did an amazing job teaching me everything I needed to know. Very easy going and super nice. Best finance prof in MRU!
I'd have given David a 5/5 however he makes mistakes frequently during lectures so be aware. We are all human but when I try and practice something after a lecture and then come in the next class to hear there was a mistake, or have to erase a ton of work during a lecture it is quite frustrating. This aside he is great and cares for his students
David was a good prof, he is super passionate about Finance; however, he tends to get sidetracked a lot.I found that he doesn't explain things throughly. I would like to see more examples in class. Overall, I would take the class with him again. He made the class enjoyable
David was an amazing Prof. I was worried about this class because I wasn't a fan of the pre-req ACCT 2121, but David made it very enjoyable and easy to understand. He explains all of the concepts very well and goes out of his way to help students outside of class if they need. Go to class, attend his lectures, and take notes -you should be good.
Finance 3227 is a tough class, with a ton of really tricky content. David teaches using his own method. If you skip class you will miss the little tips and tricks he teaches to help you learn the content. He tries his hardest to help prepare you for the two mid-terms and the final
David is a GREAT prof, always willing to help and is understanding. He marks fairly and has clear expectations and guidance for projects. He teaches in a way that makes the content easy to understand and is very helpful with any questions.
Most easy going prof ever. He's straight forward with what you should know before exams and cares that people actually learn from his explanations. He remembers his students very well and develops close personal friendships.
Very nice guy, his energy is sincere and caring. super easy marker!!! I like that he speaks slowly and simple, easy to understand.
David is a very nice prof. Sometimes he can come across as hard to understand and you can get confused about what is going to be on the tests but just go through the powerpoints and take notes in class and you will be fine. The projects are not hard at all and so isnt the final. Easy A
David is on of the best MRU professors because he is caring, realistic and actually gives amazing information about finance. You need to put in a reasonable amount of work into the class as expected but his classes are easily explained nice and slowly. I highly recommend david as he is one of the best professors and is a 10/10.
David is an amazing professor. He cares deeply about his students and always takes the time out to teach his students until they fully understand. Pay attention, take notes and you will do great. David is the best
Really good guy, Cares about your success and is very straight forward and makes lectures enjoyable would 10/10 take one of his classes again
Very capable FNCE prof, that knows his stuff. He is able to present his knowledge in an understandable way, and makes sure students are up to speed throughout the lectures. Holds classes where he will go through examples for topics that are more challenging. He made all of the concepts make sense. Very fair marker, maybe even on the easier side.
David is a spectacular prof!! I traded emails with him whenever I was struggling with any of the content and he often replied within an hour or so and would be very helpful and detailed in his responses. David will definitely be a prof that I try and take more classes with
David is an amazing prof! I was nervous going into FNCE 3227, but it ended up being very interesting and even enjoyable. David explains all concepts clearly and ensures students receive help if they need it. If you take notes in class and complete all assigned textbook questions you will thrive in this class. Would 100% recommend David!
He has a 100% Would take again rate for a reason. I suck at math, got a D in 2121, got an A here. Thank you professor!
David is a great professor and a great person! He cares about his student's success and never sends you into an exam unprepared. His lectures are well organized and he makes learning fun!
He's one the of the best profs I've had at MRU. He's patient and willing to teach you when you're having a hard time with the topic. I was nervous for this class but he's really approachable so don't hesitate to ask when you're confused. I really enjoyed learning the course! I like his teaching style.
David is lovely. I am not very strong in math, and I took 2121 years ago, but David told everyone on day 1 that he will take the time to hold anyone's hand who needs it, and he stayed true to that. I recommend hand-writing the same notes that he takes down, as they have exactly the information you will need.
David is one of the most caring profs I've had in my years at MRU. He cares so much about guiding you and helping in any way he can. It's tough to be online, and he made that known, but with his lectures and his guidance, he made Finance easy and bearable. I wish I could have had him for all of my Finance/Accounting courses!
David is a great Professor and genuinely cares about his students' success! He was so flexible to the online learning environment and made the class so much more enjoyable. He explains the concepts really well and makes it easy to understand. Also provides plenty of resources to make sure you understand the concepts. 10/10 I would highly recommend
David is the best prof I've ever had in MRU, I'v taken 3 classes with him and ended up with an amazing grade each time, David is very caring and he will do everything in his power to help you get a good grade if you are able to take him, trust me and do it and not only will you pass with a high grade, but you will genuinely learn so much from him.
The most student caring, passionate, and motivating even for outside school reasons. Davids ideal student is somebody who tries. If you give him the confirmation that you are trying, he will focus on you until you grasped the concept best. He wants the students to succeed not only with grades, but in the respective field and in life morally.
If you have a chance to take a course with David, do it, you will not regret it. He helps in making the material easy to understand and does plenty of practice questions before tests. I would take every FNCE course with David if I could! Such a great prof and really cares about his student's success.
David is an amazing professor, he really cares about his students success and if you try you can do really well in his class. You need to do extra practice on your own for sure to prep for the exams because he doesn't do enough in class but there's not really any extra homework other than the Mylab textbook assignments. 10/10 would recommend!
I love the way he teaches, he's clear and concise. He uses real-life examples in the material being thought in class. He has a positive mindset which I think every professor should have. David really cares about his student in a way I have never seen. He will not move on unless everyone understands the material.
David was an excellent professor. He really put in the effort to make sure everyone in the class understood and explained concepts in the best way possible. He's got a great personality and makes class enjoyable. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in his class and would definitely recommend him for any finance classes.
The assignment for this class was overwhelming, but if you listen to his lectures, you will get an A easily. David is a legend! He literally makes his classes review notes before midterms and finals. I wish I have him with all of my FNCE classes
David is such a caring professor. He tries to make the content as simple as possible and is mindful of those students who are not accounting or finance majors. He teaches some topics differently from the textbook but just so it can be understood easily. This course can be very easy if you attend his classes and do practice questions regularly.
Amazing prof. Must take him for any Finance class.
I was struggling greatly this semester due to a family emergency and David was extremely kind, empathetic, and accommodating towards my situation. I have also had the pleasure of having David for three finance classes now and he explains concepts in a very clear and concise manner. I appreciate his passion and dedication for students to succeed.
This is the second class I've taken with David. He is the kindest and most caring prof I have ever had. He accommodates to students and will do anything he can to help you succeed and understand the course materials. Best prof I have had in my 3 years at MRU. You won't regret taking a class with him :)
The best professor I had for any of my FNCE classes. I had him for two courses and it was the best decision ever. If you ever get a chance to take a course with him, trust you won't regret it.
David is the goat of all mru profs. Goes beyond for his students to help them actually understand confusing concepts. Not much else to say other than I haven't had a prof that really compares when it comes to his passion and knowledge for the courses he teaches.
David is possibly the best professor MRU has on payroll. He HATES the text book and just teaches from his notes. Be ready to work, but this guy amazing. I gave up Fridays just to have David as my prof, if you can get a seat (good luck) youre going to meet an incredible man, who really cares. this isnt just a paycheck for David. he lives to teach.
I went in to finance terrified but this man wiped all those fears. In fact, a couple weeks in I declared my major as finance due to David's enthusiasm. He is seriously a top tier prof, definitely an AAAA rated person too. Great FV by taking his class, I would 100% recommend it. I'm leaving this class with a interest rate of return of 100%. Take Him
David is the most generous and caring professor I've ever had. He wants you to succeed and will do his best to help you achieve success. I struggle with classes like these but every question I had for him was answered quickly in full detail, and he went above and beyond to show further examples. Best prof EVER.
David is an amazing prof and is probably the best prof Ive had at MRU. Although this class was online, he did everything possible within his power to ensure that all students were carried along and properly understood the course content. He took notes while teaching using a document camera so we could follow along and made Fnce seem so easy.
David is the GOAT! I love the way he teaches through notes because it helps you to stay on task. I wish he teaches the more advanced FNCE. As soon as you see his name just take it and register. Everything he teaches is on the exams. I took his classes both online and in-class and he was amazing on both! he also makes jokes in class.
David is the second coming of Jesus Christ when it comes to finance!!! The material can be challenging, but he makes it enjoyable, clear and engaging. I came to mru on Fridays just to take this course, and it was well worth it!! Amazing prof, and a smart, compassionate gentleman!!
David is godsent. Amazingly clear lectures and notes. Remember to go to class or you miss out on his explanation of terms and problems.
BEST professor in MRU. This course could be challenging for students, but he made it easy and enjoyable. You need to choose this professor for finance course 100%!!
David is an amazing prof. He genuinely cares to see his students succeed. What he covers in his lectures are expected to be on the exam but all his exams are open note. At the end of the semester he holds a finals review session which is extremely helpful. David also responds to his emails. One of the best profs that I have had in university.
Best finance prof at MRU. Had midterm and final review sessions to prepare us for tests. I'm not math savvy but he made this course doable
Best professor I have ever had at Mount Royal. He made a very difficult class enjoyable and fosters an environment where almost anyone can succeed. As long as you attend the lectures and do the recommended practice questions David assigns, you will do well in his class. He's very funny, kind, and wants all his students to pass.
Honestly have not had a better professor at MRU. David is knowledge in what he teaches and makes sure everyone understands the key concepts. I strongly recommend taking him.
David is the best professor I've ever had at MRU. He's super caring and hilarious. He explains his content simply. Attend lectures and you WILL get an easy A with very minimal studying. Can't exaggerate enough how excellent David is. I had this class 6-9 pm and it was my favourite class and I always looked forward to it (because of David)!
David was the sweetest, most caring prof ever. He made the semester fairly easy and attending his midterm and final review is a must! He provides clear and concise review on what will be tested. I wish he was teaching more advanced finance classes. If you could get David for your intro course, do it!
If you attend class you WILL do good! Clearly explains concepts and makes finance not so scary, I actually enjoyed the class (and I hate numbers). You can tell he really cares about the success of his students. Doesn't leave you guessing on what is going to be on the midterm or final, definitely would take him again if I could!
Best professor I have ever had hands down. Cheat sheets are allowed for the mid-term and final exam. Very useful study guides made by David to prepare for each exam. Make sure you get the textbook and do the homework after each lecture.
He is excellent at teaching since he doesn't just go over slides. The mid-term and final exam is worth 60% of your final grade. If you want to do well, attend every class and pay attention to practice problems and the concepts he teaches. You will not do well if you miss class. You will be graded on only 5-6 things so you can not really mess up.
Excellent teacher one of the best ones. He was super respectable with the students and funny. Lectures are heavy but well done directly to the point and give good tips that help students to understand concepts and math. The Best teacher ever, be ready to write during class but good advice and tips. Very friendly. Excellent!!! 100% recommendable.
Absolutely amazing prof. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He is always open to helping students with questions and even allowed us to retry our group projects if we got something wrong. He is always prepared for class and teaches everything so everyone can understand. He loves when students participate: don't whisper
David is one of the best profs I have had at MRU. He is super knowledgable and really cares for student success. As a Finance major, the intro to stock class was quite basic. But David accommodates students from other programs to ensure that everyone understands the content. 10/10
Dave is a fantastic prof. He does a very good job at explaining complicated topics in a way that is easy to understand. He is very accessible outside of class, and is always happy to re-explain topics if you don't understand. He honestly wants all his students to do well.
David was an awesome professor. Would definitely take his class again. He was very good at explaining things and is always happy to reexplain. Wants his students to succeed and is a super great guy.
Awesome professor! Really cares about the success of his students and makes class interesting and engaging! 10/10 would recommend him if you can get into any of his classes.
Love David! One of the best professors I've had at MRU. His lectures prepare students for the midterm and final. The class was very hard for me but he supported me throughout and helped me in any way he could. Take David's class if you are a person who struggles with finance like me. 10/10!!!
Such an amazing professor, and it is so evident that they want their students to do well and will go above and beyond to help you. Understands this class is not easy especially for those not majoring in finance. Would 100% take this professor again such a kind and caring individual.
1 of the few business professors that actually has a PhD at MRU. He is very knowledgeable and does a great job of breaking things down in the simplest way to explain them to students. My first impression was that he was going to be a hard-a**, but he quickly dismantled that by cracking a few jokes. Overall great guy you can learn a lot from.
Best prof you can take at MRU hands down. He is so friendly and actually wants you to succeed. He grades very easily and gives you reviews for the midterm and finals which are literally the exact same as the test, if you do the review, you will pass with an 80%+ guaranteed. If you have a chance to take him, you better take him.
As someone who's weak in Finance, I was able to understand the concepts in this course bc of how good he was at teaching. He cares about the student's success and very responsive to inquiries. He made us write notes in class so you can't skip but it honestly really helped with the learning, and the practice he gave prepared us for the exams.
Great prof and very useful class. No final exam, just a group project which was quite nice and enjoyable. Definitely recommend taking this class as one of your Tier 2 Cluster 3 GNEDs.
Professor Coulibaly is fantastic. He makes personal finance interesting and easy to grasp. His real-life examples make concepts stick and his teaching style keeps the class engaging. I highly recommend taking his class.
David makes all of his lectures easy to understand by using metaphors for course concepts, making it easy to grasp and memorize the information. He provides additional help and ensures that all students understand the material.
took him for BFIN 301 at SAIT,the material for the class is quite heavy, but he explains it well and effectively. He makes it easier to understand as well. I came out of each class understanding the material. Go to every class bc he works on problems that appear on the tests and assignments. our tests were take-home and open-book. highly recommend
10/10 prof.
David shows enthusiasm teaching this class, highly recommend taking him if you choose on watching the lectures or showing up to class. There are no slides, but his videos go into high detail about the subject and the quizzes + test are quite straightforward.
Amazing professor.
I'm not a finance or business major at all, but this class taught by David was very insightful about money management that I think we should all know as young adults. Very straight to the point professor and explains these concepts very straightforward, you can never go wrong. 1000% recommend this class and you'd be very lucky to have David!
Best prof at MRU!
Best professor ever he is the GOAT!!!
Very nice and caring
David is an alright prof. He doesn't give any feedbacks on the assignment or test. His online lecture is fast pace, you should try to record it so can you reference back to it after. Overall decent prof, but expect a little too much for the group project, also doesn't respond to your email if you have any questions.
David cares for his students and wants them to succeed, and even as a non finance/business student,t I found the content easy to learn. My only complaint was that the group project instructions were slightly unclear, which was frustrating since it was worth such a large percentage of our grade.
Had a very good experience with David as my prof this semester! I don't usually do well at all with online courses but his was very well organized and easy to follow along with.
This was my first finance class and although it was difficult for me I did enjoy David's humour and the way he gave us so much additional information not only useful in class but useful for the rest of our lives! I definitely recommend taking a class with David if you can!
Best prof I've ever had. I took it in spring so it was super fast paced + lots of notes but he's the best at explaining and overall a great person to learn from
I took this course during the spring, and while it was fast-paced and very content-heavy, David provided me with all the material I needed to know. He is very clear with test expectations. I failed my first midterm due to not studying enough, but I was still able to achieve an A- in the class. strongly recommend!!
David is an amazing professor. He explains contents very thoroughly and gives many examples in class. His exams are very clear, and the questions are similar to what he does in class. He doesn't have slides, however he writes down everything that you need to know on the board.
if you want help outside of class he isn't willing to answer anything. Even if you visit him during office hours he won't give feedback or help especially with regards to assignments. He would always say that it's unfair for the other students and He also threatened to take marks off if you asked questions about assigments.
David's passion for finance made the course enjoyable and made me think about other parts of personal finance that I was not fully aware about. I also liked his step-by-step demonstrations on how to do the assignments. However, I do only recommend the course if you are really interested on improving your personal finances.
I did an online class, he's very engaging actually, easy marker as well. I highly recommend personal finance to anyone :)
I actually enjoyed this class, and David was a good prof! It was very practical, application-based, which I appreciated! Overall, the lectures were clear and understandable, and the assignments were based on examples from class.
David was an awesome prof to have for an online class. He introduced all of the topics in an easy to understand way while still keeping the lectures fun and engaging. He was also very funny and one of my favourite profs i've had at MRU.
David is an amazing professor. His finance knowledge runs deep and you can tell he really wants the best for his students. The course was a bit challenging for me, however he made it much easier. He is very good at breaking down complex subjects and making it understandable. This class is test heavy but David provides a lot of resources. Take him.
