Great class, funny teacher. I learned a lot and enjoyed the classes and labs. He does all short-answer tests, so you have to know the material, but he gives handouts with each lecture and everything on the test is on the handout. He is very helpful if youneed it.
Dr. Covington is smart and funny. I love biology and breezed through BIO 168 and 169 with an A+, so was quite surprised by how hard I had to study for this class. You absolutely must be willing to study (and not just the day before). He will help you as much as you need, but do not expect to "breeze" through.
the previous 2 comments were probably written by the professor. first of all, he is not at all helpful in learning material or preparing for tests. while he may think he's funny, his jokes are trite and tedious. stay far away from this professor. i may as well be taking an online course. i think the whole class feels the same way.
Amazing knowledge...this professor knows his stuff, but I found it hard to follow..
he is a very arrogant man-knows the material but does not know how to teach-do not take him for biology...practicals were ridiculous
I loved him as a teacher, he is crazy and the way that he teaches is different but he will help with whatever you need, will answer any questions that you have and his tests come straight from the notes. his practicals are a little hard but if you study you will be fine in the class.
I feel that he knows the maerial but he doenst know how to get the material across correctly. HE uses notes as a form of teaching and makes his tests off of the notes. Also his tests are comprised of many trick questions. Overall, not a good teacher.
This has to be the worst teacher I have ever had. He tells horrible jokes and his teaching style is a joke. He took over for Van Cura this semester and they are not even on the same playing fields. Van Cura is a great teacher and I can't believe this guy is our replacement.
I think that he is pretty good with getting his point across in class. He uses corny jokes, etc., but you do remember them and that helps! Also, he does a great job of providing notes and teaching/testing straight from them. He is very accessible and quickly responds to any questions or e-mails. I plan on taking him again for Anatomy II.
Great class, he made learning biology easy.
Took his this summer Don't care for him as a person or his class. He seems to have ADD. When we rearly get lab time he is distracting with lame jokes. He gives out study guides(tests from previous semesters) with all wrong answers and there are test questions with wrong answers. I have failed almost all the tests after studying for hours and hours.
Terrible. Do not take him. Does not post grades so you won't know what you have until the last day if you make him post them. He claims it "isn't fun to post grades or correct tests" Marked right answers on my test wrong and won't take the time to correct his mistake. Wish I would have taken someone else. His "study guides" are a joke (old tests).
Worthless to try for a good grade, you have to be an eccentric genius that thinks WAY WAY out of the box to take his tests because they are confucious like riddles.
don't take him. his jokes=not funny. his labs are terrible i've never had a lab where the professor sat at the front and the rest of you teach yourself. his tests are impossible, with his little trick questions, and he doesn't grade to your benefit. the class is hard enough as it is, i don't see the point in trying to trick students. horrible
The worst teacher I have ever had. He is a very smart man, he has a Phd. This does not make him a good instructor. The entire class stuggled to keep up with his pace. I feel its important we as students not only retain the info but fully understand its importance. Rushing through material does not allow for either of those to happen. Enough said...
Don't take!
Great but challenging professor! He is brilliant and teaches clearly but his exams are challenging until you pay attention to how he asks exam questions. He is ALWAYS willing to help you. I never even opened my book. His exams were from handouts. You have to study tho... he doesnt hand you an A but you will never forget what you learn from his clas
Dr.Covington was AMAZING!! Even though Anatomy&Physiology is traditionally a difficult course,Dr. Covington was always ready to help you! He would not just give you the answer;he makes you think. Therefore many of his students didn't like him. If one wants to really know and understand Anatomy&Physiology I highly recommend Dr.Covington!
He is one of the most effective teachers I have ever had and will do anything he can to help you understand and pass this class. YOU CAN'T DRINK AND STUDY FOR THIS CLASS!!!
If you are a serious health sciences student you will learn so much from Dr. Covington! A&P is a challenging course and it takes a special instructor to break through the blurr of material and make it fun. Plan to study a lot, but an A is possible! Loved his sense of humor!!
Dr. Covington is excellent. I studied hard and attended every class to earn my B, but in turn I feel like I REALLY absorbed the material. He's got a very corny yet funny sense of humor, and he teaches the material in an organized and effective manner. Take him if you really want to succeed in your health major and not take the easy route!
For all the previous students who have dumped on Dr. Covington, you are really doing future A/P students a dishonor! Covington is a great instructor. Anatomy is hard and if you are expecting to be handed an A , dont take this class. But if you are willing to study and ask questions, Covington will break his back to help you undrestand A/P.
Well what can I say, this professor knows way too much about anatomy.Meaning that if your not willing to study 2 hrs a day and spend every minute in class paying attention, you will not pass this class.
If you truly want to learn this is the professor you want. At first he seems intimidating as he requires his students to think of what they are learning in all deminsions. This is not a memorization class..this is a class that requires devotion and much time. In the end all your hard work will pay off!
Very nice instructor. Test very very tricky!
this course is extremely hard, but Dr. C is funny and wants you to succeed. TAKE GOOD NOTES! CAREFULLY READ TEST QUESTIONS!
he does not teach clearly and moves to fast throughout the course for understanding. His class is VERY hard and he gives no side help to change that
Dr.C is the worst professor that I have had.His class is exremely hard, and he is not interested in his students achievements, he actually likes to assist you with failing!!! I would not reccomend him on his best day...
Dr. Covington's BIO 168 class is very tough, but the material is presented in a "real-world" manner. This class is perfect for those entering the medical field, but not so much for those entering a field like art. This is MEDICAL anatomy. I learned a lot from Dr. C's class.
He doesnt not care about his studnets.. all he cares about are the new england journal of medicine articles and last time i checked, thats not in the curriculum. we have to buy a book and then pay for the subscri[ption. he doesnt respond to email or yet alone help you when you ask a question. DONT TAKE HIM!
Covington is very funny. I like him as a person. His test require critical thinking. He does care about his students. He often has take home test and such. I like him, but this is a difficult class. I made a B and I had to study very hard. He really makes you think. Take him if you have the time to devote yourself and really need an understanding.
He is one of the unclear teacher I have ever taken....His test are hard, cant get information across clearly, and my favorite U HAVE 2 TEACH YOURSELF.....Dont take him!!!!!
Dr. Covington is the worst Prof.I have ever had in my college career. He does not help you understand the material, does not give out homework or any other assignments. The only grades u receive r from Tests, which makes it impossible to pass this class if you are having trouble understanding the material.Have fun teaching yourself Anatomy&Physiology!!
Dr. Covington is the best professor I have ever had. Although his class has been the most difficult class I have ever taken, and my grade is not so great, I have learned A LOT! He is extremely knowledgable and entertaining. This class has been, by far, my favorite class....ever. He DOES care and WILL listen to you, just be real...:)
Very smart man! If you attend class and are remotely intelligent you will do well. You are given multiple take home extra credit opportunities each test. He gave us an optional final which replaces your worst grade if it benefits you. If you have questions his office doors are always open and he will stay until you understand. Highly recommended!
I'm not new to A&P whatsoever. Dr. Covington has found the worst possible way to teach A&P and does it effectively. If you have never taken an A&P class before then this teacher isn't for you. I having studied A&P for years found him hard to follow. Nevertheless, after having enough of his nonsense I withdrew. P.s. watch out for his attitude proble
Don't take Dr. Covington. Yes, he knows a lot about A&P. No, he can't teach it. Take Joy Smoots instead if you're lucky enough to get her.
Dr. Covington was a great teacher and until I took his class I had never really understood anatomy until then. I had taken 3 other teachers at CFCC for A&P and dropped all of them until I took his class. He will stay after class and help you understand the material and gives you plenty of chances to bring your grade up. Great Teacher.
critical thinking is his mantra. extremely helpful with ALL other classes that require thinking
took a suplementary course just to help explain the mess that is his teaching style.. ended up dropping the class anyway. taking van cura now and loving it
Nice guy. Tests are rediculous. Pay attention to the pointless stuff he mentions, because that is what he will test you on. and def pay attention to the case studies he loves to give half a test on those. Study your butt off to make an A or B. And remember never argue with him, because your NEVER right!
If you expect to get an A handed to you without lots of study time, this is not the teacher for you. for his class you will need to record lectures and write down every detail of what he says.it was hard, but i think i learned way more from him than i could have from others. get on his good side&study hard, and you'll be ready for a health care job.
He is extremely pretentious. All of the information on the tests are never from the book, they are straight from lecture, but the questions on the tests are absolutly ridiculous. And every single test my class had, a student would have to point that the answers were wrong. He believe he is always right.
Do not take this teacher!!!! He is on academic probation because over half his classes withdrawal either early on or halfway through the semester. Tests never make any sense.
I have taken both A & P I, and II over 5 years ago and managed to receive a B in both. I come here not knowing what I have gotten myself into with this teacher thinking, "If I just apply myself I will do well.".....WRONG!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR'S CLASS! WARNING! You will be LOST, and his analogies are not helpful at all.
I learned so much from this class! If you record the lectures, listen to them at least once and ask questions when something is not 100% clear, then you can get an A. He is very helpful: responds to email questions in detail, welcomes you into his office when you have questions. Do not be discouraged by other students posts...you can do this!
Dr. Covington is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable. His lecture is thorough. From his lecture, you not only learn WHAT but also WHY. And he is very helpful when you have questions. If you want to LEARN something for your mind and your future career, he is highly recommended!
The class itself can be difficult, but Covington is a good professor , he uses good references and examples to help you understand it better in his notes ( read them carefully) and is helpful when u need further clarification if u ask.
Covington is an awesome instructor! He knows his stuff! You will hear lots of complaints about him, but it's because he makes you LEARN the material, not memorize it! I took A&P1 and 2 with him and I highly recommend him! The course is difficult itself, but show up for class and take notes during his lectures & you'll be good to go! Oh, and STUDY!!
A lot of postings here portray covington in the complete wrong light. Do not expect a handout from this instructor. He expects you to read and to learn. He is very knowledgeable and can be a great benefit to you if you use his class in the proper way. Don't get frustrated- go for help and USE S.I.
Nice guy, but class time was confusing
To begin with, this man is brilliant. However, he seems to forget that the rest of us just aren't. His method didn't make any sense. I pride myself in my intelligence, but this class was a blur to me. The only way I think I would have succeeded was by not working my job & not taking other classes so I could do this ONE course full-time.
Covington is, by far, the best educator I've ever had. No doubt his classes are difficult, but they are also rewarding. If you just "need an A" don't take Covington, he will weed you out in a couple of weeks. His students are probably more successful in their future studies and careers because his classes take the dedication needed.
Very confucing class. Don't expect to be able to use your regular study habits or note taking. Isn't useful in this class. The instructor does not inform you on tests. Impossible to know what your grade is. Jumps around from topic to topic & chapter to chapter.
Dr. Covington is brilliant, but confusing. He does not use the text book nor does he lecture. He is funny and does make class interesting, but confuses as much as he teaches. There is no traditional note taking and it almost feels like a self taught class.
Hardest class/instructor at CFCC and if you keep pace you will learn a ton of material. However, his tests are just not well constructed, even careless. Its more a matter of swallowing his notes word-for-word than it is a test of your knowledge of material. Ps. He is nice, funny, smart and a genuine person just bring you A GAME!!!
Dr Covington really likes teaching and wants his students to learn the material. However: the class is not geared towards a community college level student, it is more geared for a Masters level student. The purpose of the A&P classes are to funnel those students to the health science programs that the school offers. Covington is not that teacher.
This class was unnecessarily harder than it had to be. Not because the subject matter is difficult, but because he neglected to ever teach it to us. He provided notes then instructed us to teach ourselves... all semester. I could have taken this class over google if I knew this is what it was going to be like. Impossible class without internet
Dr. Covington is the hardest professor I have ever had, but I learned more in his class than in any other I have ever taken. I took his A/P classes three years ago and I just finished nursing school. I know that I owe my success in nursing to his A/P classes. Others in my class had such a hard time with some things, but my foundation was AWESOME!
Class is not geared for a community college student....great class but more well suted to masters level students also...caution about SI: frequently the info given is WRONG.....
By far the worst professor I have ever had. I already have my B.S. so I've been through my fair share of bad instructors but Covington is by far the worst. Very unclear on the material he wants you to know and his tests are careless and ridiculous. There is absolutely no structure to his course and lecture is waste of time. DON"T TAKE HIM!
This class was by far the hardest class I had taken!!!He gave us hisbook that he wrote,(very good btw) but the ENTIRE semesterNo lecture what so ever! Self taught, studied 24/7 (literately)and got a B. Nice brilliant guy don't know if this is the right level for him to be teaching at. Very SMART/funny...BE READY TO WORK your butt off!U MUSTstudy!
Was not helpful when teaching, must be able to teach yourself.
Dr. Covington is really nice and has a sense of humor but he is a terrible teacher. The first day of class he told us to return our book and he typed his own "notes" that were posted on blackboard for us to study from. He never lectured. Grades were never posted and he rarely gave back tests. Labs were hard and tests were insanely confusing.
Dr. Covington is a great man, but he confuses you more than he helps or teaches you. He refers to his classes as "study hall" and leaves you on your own with the lessons.
Covington writes his own "text book" and pulls test questions(multiple choice or t/f) straight from the material. He answers questions thoroughly. I've now taken him twice and he has started lecturing more. He also provides sample tests for extra credit points and review. As long as you put in the effort to ask, he will answer. He's incredibly smart
I have only taken Covington for A & P I, but I suggest to stay away. He is obviously a very bright man but his class is very poorly organized and confusing. His tests are awful... typo's, confusing wording, etc. Bulk sections make it impossible to stay on track- such as a test on ALL bones or ALL muscles at once. Crazy. I suggest taking Suddith.
Covington is a teacher that will truly require that you know your material. Simply memorizing key terms will never cut it with him. He answers questions quite well, but you have to ask. He offers no help to those seeking shortcuts. Take him if you're very seriously.
Writes his own notes which he posts and then pulls the test questions from the notes. Kind of. Unfortunately, both tests and notes are written so poorly that this is no help. Clearly the guy was not an English major. Attending class is no help since most of the stuff that ends up on tests is hardly mentioned. Good luck teaching yourself.
Horrible teacher. His test are hard, he makes his own notes which are long and hard to understand and he pulls random weird questions from the notes to put pon the test. He wants people to drop his class he tells you that at the beginning of the class. Rude and does not have a good teaching method even though he has been there for like 30 years.
Terrible Teacher. He makes you print out a ridiculous amount of notes. He puts questions on his tests that aren't even listed in his notes. Expect to print out, on average, 30 pages of notes per topic (no exaggeration). I don't see how this guy still has a job and Cape Fear is doing a great disservice to its students by letting this guy teach.
He will tell you not to take notes and that he will provide them. Doesn't actually provide them until 2-3 days before a test. His tests make no sense. Doesn't post grades. If one person is doing well he assumes he is teaching perfectly and he doesnt need to change his methods. If you have the choice, avoid him at all costs!
Dr. Covington is honestly one of the worst teachers at Cape Fear. We didn't have our grades from any of our assignments until the last 2 weeks of class. In these 2 weeks he also crammed 3 different systems of the body and refused to put notes up for one of them, so the test was a guess or fail. He is rude and rarely answers any questions you have.
Horrible teacher in every way. He doesn't get the material across at all. He tests on the most randomly specific details not even covered in class. Half of the stuff he says isn't true. If he is the only teacher available for the class you need, wait till next semester. absolutely terrible teacher
Everybody talks about how tough Covington is, but hes really not that bad. He typically provides the notes before class, so you can follow along. The tests are kind of tricky, but to study just read over the notes multiple times until you fully understand them. He is willing to help you if you ask questions, just expect a quirky answer.
Dr. Covington is a very smart man, he's just hard to follow. If you ask him for help, he will help you. His tests are very hard, but at the end of the semester you can replace up to three test grades.
Worst teacher I have ever had. I love biology and I am not afraid to work hard for my grade. But he was ridiculous with his grading. I normally make A's in my science courses, but by halfway through the semester (and me studying daily) I was failing. I withdrew, but my friends who stayed in the course said it only got worse.
Dr. Covington was awesome! I took him over the summer and completely understood A&P2 thanks to him. He's quirky and hilarious but provides the notes and you can certainly learn a lot from him. His tests are hard but just study the notes and you'll be ok. He is willing to help you if you need it and gives lots of extra credit. Great teacher!
I enjoy Dr. Covington as a person he is nice and very funny. But in his class I do not feel I was given the opportunity to be successful. Notes and text materials did not match. Confusing and unorganized. I take a lot of science classes and this by far was the hardest ever. It's hard to do well when I am not clear what is expected of me.
Covington has a quirky personality. Some of the stuff he says is so strange & awkward. He will not let class out early--would rather you stare at the walls doing nothing than to let class out 30 min early. His tests & lab practicals are insanely hard. His lectures are so long & hard to follow. He has notes but they make no sense & no book. Beware!!
Covington's tests are super hard and practicals impossible. The tests are based off his lectures but on the most minute insignificant details. He does not use the book at all. Notes are vague and hard to follow. Lectures are long, boring, & difficult to comprehend. Wastes class time but won't let class out early. Practicals are impossible to follow
He's a nice guy, but kind of odd. He gives some of the strangest tests. Sometimes he will say something like only answer half of the test but for every 2 questions only answer either the odd or even, and you can not answer both or you will get points off. WHY???? It's just a mess of unnecessary confusion.
Covington is a great teacher. Some times I think he is so smart that its hard for people to understand him since he knows the material so well, but he is an awesome professor.
Please do your self a favor and do not take his class. There is way to much bad to express about his teaching methods. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Very smart and good guy but you will struggle. He gets off topic and lectures begin to make no sense and will teach something new before you even take a test on what you have learned. Please do not take him.
Online notes disorganized: actual note content takes so long to read yet hardly explains it well. You can't just skim through notes bc he will take pages to explain small concepts, yet it's still not clear. He doesn't use the book. Tests focus on obscure, unimportant details & you never know what it's going to be on.
This class is not for the WEAK. If you're looking for an easy class you can coast through, this isn't the class for you. Covington will make you WORK for your grade so what you get in his class is a direct reflection of YOU not the teacher. Covington is more than generous w/ his grading and extra credit opportunities. U have to learn material gasp!
Looking for an easy class? This one is not it. Covington teaches the material very well and is very funny in class. The test are hard. Won't lie. You cannot simply memorize key terms and pass in this class. You need to actually learn the material. As a nursing major, I appreciate this sort of class. It's important to know and not just memorize.
I took his class a few years ago. His lectures are entertaining and interesting, however, his test are tricky. They are not taken from the book. Although, I did enjoy his class.. I found him to be an uncaring professor. He just teaches like a robot. Absolutel no passion and he couldn't care about his students. I actually find him pretty rude.
I know a lot of individuals would disagree with me, but I found Dr. Covington to be extremely thorough and helpful. He definitely knows his stuff and is very passionate about the subject that he teaches. This isnt a class that you can drag your feet in. Give it youre all and you will do well. Study the notes! Good luck!
Many people claim Dr. Covington isn't a good teacher because the class is hard, but I think he is amazing! He explains things very clearly and finds was to make it interesting and gives stories to help us remember the lectures. He takes time for his students to help them understand the material and is an amazing teacher! I love Dr. Covington!
I had Dr. Covington around 2000 or so and I think I retained more from him than any other professor. Here's my advice. Get inside his head. Read the notes then spend some time discussing them in his office or via email or phone (he'll make time). Show him you care and he will too. Hoping to go to med school? It's drink or drown, baby!
He is very weird and quirky. He gets off topic, but he is a walking encyclopedia. HE IS SO SMART, so he tends to get scatterbrained... but hey, USE HIM AS A RESOURCE. Don't expect him to hand you the material over on a silver platter. He makes you think. Tests are hard, so take good notes. I recommend recording lectures.
I don't understand why so many people on here give Dr. Covington such a bad rep. He actually wants you to learn the material and be successful. His class is not easy because anatomy and physiology isn't easy. It's very complex and requires you to put forth effort. He's an AWESOME professor, funny, and his lectures are always very entertaining
I was nervous to take Dr. Covington given the horrible reviews, but he's awesome. His tests are hard because this subject is hard. He challenges you with his lecture tests but gives you everything you need to know to succeed. My recommendation is to put all your eggs on the practicles. Those are only memorization of body parts/muscles. Don't slack!
The lecture tests were very difficult but he is a more than fair grader. If you dont come to class the notes he posts will get shorter and shorter. Then you will have only your in class notes or recordings to help you prepare for tests. He is smart but also funny and tries to be entertaining but you must try hard or you will not do well.
Best professor Ive ever had! And Ive had many including university and community college. Start recording lectures immediately. Recording is the only way you will receive an A (which is almost mandatory for CFCC competative nursing school). His lectures are entertaining. Tests are tricky-100% from lectures.
He is tough but If you can think about the same way he dose you are gold
Dr. Covington is one of the smartest people I have ever met. This man knows so much about the human body. The way he shares information makes everything seem easier to understand. His only downside is his tests are extremely hard and you must study in order to pass. Dr. Covington is very passionate about anatomy and wants the best for his students.
His notes are very scattered and also handwritten by him which makes it hard to follow along. His level of specificity is unnecessary and confusing, to the point that Google can't even help you. His grading makes it close to impossible to pass the class. There is no homework, your grade is literally all exams (practicals and lecture exams).
Tests are very difficult
This is the worst professor on the face of this planet. He has no understanding just how bad of a professor he actually is. His practicals consist of choosing random pictures in a folder filled with hundreds, points with a cursor and asks "what is this?" Can't go back cause he doesn't remember the pic he chose. Uploads notes days before the exam.
Professor Covington was a great professor! I had heard horror stories about him but my experience in Bio 168 was amazing. He wants you to succeed in his class! If you put forth the effort and show up to class you will do well. He makes the lectures and labs entertaining and takes his tests DIRECTLY from the notes he provides.
Very funny guy, not the best teacher. What he does teach, he teaches well, but the course is so ridiculously information dense that your gonna have to study hard yourself. Gives good opportunities to get A's on tests though. His tests supposedly come from the 60 or so pages of notes, but you really have to understand the material for an A.
Test 1, let's you retake the same exact test next day for total replacement so make sure you remeber the questions. Test 2: Take home test, not as easy as you'd think though Test 3: study ass off, only get a 3x5 notecard. Practical are easy, just study You get 1 practical retake for full replacement and 1 test retake for full replacement. Ull B
Mr. Covington is very knowledgeable. I personally would not take again, but he's great for some. It depends on your learning style. His class was difficult but interesting.
He gives very few grades, most consist of tests and labs. He also can be hard to keep up with at times due to his fast pace and knowledge about Biology. He is very understanding though and he is good about responding to emails.
Covington teaches like your going to med school. His test questions are nothing like the lecture notes. Pictures for lab practices are hard to see what part of the body they're from. His blackboard is very unorganized and it's hard to find assignments. He is not good at teaching online students. Also, only tests and labs get graded.
Mr. Covington was a great professor! I learned a lot during this course. This course is difficult but if you put in the work you will pass! Mr. Covington gives many chances to improve your grade so be sure to take advantage of those!! Also, there isnt any homework so be sure to study for lab practicals and test (*Test are nothing like notes*)
This class can be challenging. No homework, grades are based on the outcome of exams. I know I could have gotten a better grade if I would have put more time into it, so balancing another time-consuming subject could hurt you. He is a really nice professor and is so willing to help you! He is quick at responding to emails.
This is a difficult class and his teaching style may not be for everyone. The class is assigned reading of notes that's he's written followed by a lecture (or video if online) then a weekly quiz. He leaves most of the work up to you and his questions can be tricky. There is no textbook. But he's a very accessible guy who appreciates participation.
Covington made up his own notes and test. Unreliable. Horrible feedback. Sarcastic. Would not recommend taking this class.
I signed up for Mr. Covington my Fall semester of 2021 and absolutely hated the class. He was the ONLY professor to not use a textbook and would make up his own notes and his notes did NOT go along with his quizzes at all!!! Subjects we would be learning about would not be the same topic as the quizzes/tests due.
I was nervous after reading the reviews here. I have to say I liked Covington so much that I wish he was teaching the summer BIO 169 class! Yes he writes his own notes and quizzes/tests. However, his videos, he does a very good job at using scenarios that make it easy to remember! Extra credit on quizzes/tests is a HUGE bonus!
I liked the way he taught at first, but quickly realized this professor is pretty bad. Not in the teaching sense, but in the homework and tests sense. His practicals are very hard and he uses unclear photos. The homework is primarily true/false that barely makes sense. His notes are his own and disorganized which makes it pretty hard to study.
Dr. Covington is a TOUGH professor. The practicals are CRAZY HARD. The pictures are very unclear and hard to understand. The tests are insane and its usually stuff not covered. The anwsers are not clear. You REALLY have to understand the topic and HOW it all works to be able to read between the lines to MAYBE guess the right answer. VERY HARD.
Homework is worded weirdly, but he is very funny and entertaining. Lots of lectures and information especially in lab but if you pay attention in class you will do good.
This class is very difficult and one thing that makes this professor very difficult is his questions setup. Instead of doing standard multiple-choice, he does a modified version of application questions. Such as "T or F: The amygdala has very similar function to the nucleus caudate". (Tests are structured the same) Other than that great teacher.
Really did not enjoy this class under this professor. I enjoy learning about anatomy and the different systems and the physiology that comes with it. This teacher really did not give us much material to work with, so it was hard to get my grade up after not doing well on tests.
Does not use a textbook and uses his own notes for quizzes that do not go along with his homework. I was at every class and watched every video and did all the notes and still did very poor. Would not take again
Would not recommend this class to anyone who enjoys learning. He gives about one graded assignment a week that contains anywhere from 10 to 5 questions, and counts towards 50% of your grade. His homework quizzes are very confusing and he does not clearly answer questions about them. The textbook is not used and everything is taught from his notes.
I took online lecture course. He uses his own notes for tests. He includes videos with the notes. If you take the time to watch and read you will have no issues. He drops the 2 lowest hw grades, allows redo lab practical's and has extra credit assignments. Extremely fair in grading and allows you plenty of time to learn online. Weekly communication
All grades were quizzes, tests and practical's. Quiz questions did not line up with the textbook, notes or instructional videos. Quiz questions aren't always worded clearly. These things made getting a good grade difficult. He has a lot of knowledge and I can say that I've learned a lot but it didn't help me much with the quizzes and tests.
Dr. Covington was the worst professor i have ever had. I have always loved science especially anatomy and physiology, but this professor made the information way more complex than it needed to be. Grades are based solely on tests, quizzes and practicals. Questions on tests are riddles and theoretical. He really makes it impossible to do well.
Covington's class was challenging, but using Unstuckstudy alongside the course materials really helped me prep for the exams. The quizzes and tests didn't always align with the notes, but staying engaged during lectures and using supplemental resources made a difference.
He was a very nice person overall, but his teaching style was poor. He made his weekly quizzes worth more than the tests. The questions on tests and quizzes were unclear and like riddles. If you did good on a quiz it did not boost your grade, but if you did bad on a quiz your grade would drop nearly 3 points. The quizzes did not match his notes.
I did not learn anything in his class besides why a marker smelt so good. the quizes were open book so you would think the answers are in the notes..WRONG!!!! his quizes was riddled based and you have to actually have to pay close attention to the questions (ex: susan has 4 apples, and she gives john 6 shirts, how many grapes does chole have?)
Literally the most boring professor I've ever had. Don't recommend this class to anyone pretty sure I'm getting a C+ or B-. Do not take this professor. Stay away at all costs. Quizzes and practicals were super hard doesn't use the textbook. I literally had to leave class early all the time bc his lectures were so boring.
He uses his own notes for test& quizzes. He will take time to help you understand his lecture& lab. He absolutely loves to teach and makes you feel comfortable when asking questions.
