P. Crandall is really intimidating and has this unidentifiable accent that I think is some affected thing he picked up at Oxford. He makes fun of people constantly, which can be hilarious when it's not at your expense. Enjoyable readings, tough grader on essays but allows re-writes, which saved me.

Crandall is infamous in the Anthropology department for poking fun at his students. Which taken with a good sense of humor, can be fun. He really likes to make fun of names and will call you very naughty for being late. Read up and regurgitate his remarks back to him. He likes that. Also try hard to think outside the box thats his goal.

Prof. Crandall is a crack up but be prepared to write 3 papers that are 6-9 pages long (he does allow rewrites)and a lot of smaller 2 pages ones. He uses a laser pointer during class to pick out people to comment if no one raises their hand. If you like sarcasm and you do well in writing papers, definitely take Crandall! Hard for a 101 class.

At first I really disliked this class, but I came to enjoy it. Lectures are not very useful. The class is very reading/writing intensive. It improved my writing skills more than Writing 150. Grades depend on TAs, so don't be afraid to ask for help. There are opportunities for rewrites and extra credit-getting a good grade is very possible.

Dr. Crandall is hilarious. There is a lot of writing in this class, but I learned more about how to write an essay here than in my writing class. Take advantage of the TA extra credit opportunities. At the end of the semester I was only .05% shy of an A and I emailed him and he said he would raise it if I wrote a 500 word essay. He's great!

Although his class gave a heavy workload especially in writing, it is a rewarding class. His lectures, while not typically essential, give you a lot of things to talk about in your three and seven page essays. He is also funny and tries to keep his lectures interesting, although he does dwell on Africa a bit too much.

Dr. Crandall is fun to listen to, but lectures are pretty pointless. Your TA is the only person who sees and grades your assignments. Don't take this class if writing is hard for you.
