Professor David is enthusiasm in teaching and he always spend time to review for students after classes if they have any problems about lectures.
He is a very smart professor but he just skips over material and steps in problem solving because he just assumes you know it. He wants to help his students as much as possible but is very difficult
Literally the easiest CHEM1040 professor. His exams test the material at a basic level. Also, he will replace your lowest test grade with the final. Would recommend.
For lectures he basically just works through the worked examples in the textbook. I think he taught better in office hours. He's a really nice guy that cares about everyone doing well, but you have to put in the effort. The tests weren't difficult as long as you worked problems on your own. He's probably the most fair chem teacher at Auburn.
You'll have to work for your grade. Going to office hours is honestly essential. He wants everybody to understand chemistry and does a great job explaining the material one on one. He doesn't make the tests harder than they need to be. if you work problems on your own, you can easily get a B or better. Go to office hours.
Dr. Crisostomo is great in office hours and one on one, so if you have questions definitely go see him to clear things up. He likes to know people are trying in his class, and he really wants his students to do well. Focus on the powerpoints and the books, and understand key concepts and you'll do fine.
didnt teach that well during class. Pretty much just went straight through the books PowerPoints. Tests arent necessarily easy but are definitely passable if you read the book and know how to work the examples really well. Have to teach yourself a lot, book and PowerPoint is your friend in this class.
He did a lot of practice problems in class and the tests were exactly like the problems in class. So if you went to class, took notes, and studied those notes it wasn't that hard, but some people just don't understand that so that's why they think he's hard. Overall, good guy and good professor!
Very lecture heavy, but he's does not teach he talks. He knows what he is talking about but it does not connect with students.
He's rude in office hours and makes you feel stupid. He shows you an example and then says "but wait" and he has done everything wrong, ideally so you can see what not to do, but instead gets the students confused more. He doesn't teach good in class, so you have to teach yourself. He has a nice grading policy though.
Dr. C is a total lad, but be prepared to read from the textbook and DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS on your own time. Tests are very fair and he's very accessible in office hours if you have questions. Be sure to study and practice on your own time and an A is very possible.
If would not recommend taking Dr. Crisostomo if it were any other class but CHEM 1040. Having said that, the other professors are much worse and harder to get a decent grade in their class. He does not teach well, does not give partial credit, and will not round your grade. I recommend waiting for Broering to teach, or taking this class elsewhere.
Attendance isn't mandatory but sometimes he asks questions to the class and the only way to get credit is to be there. Only has 3 tests and a final. Uses powerpoints from the chemistry textbook and just reads off the slides.
He is hard to figure out at first, but once you do this class becomes a relatively easy A. When people say goes to his office it's not a joke. He is WAY helpful in office hours swear the mans curves ur grade if you go to his office. Just apply yourself basically! He doesn't make you feel dumb for asking questions. I liked him, would take him again
You have a lot of homework including ALEKS and quizzes on canvas. Attendance was not taken everyday but you would need to be there the classes he took it to get the credit. He did not lecture well but did some practice problems. This class was just a lot of extra work that was not necessary. The grades were fair though.
I liked Dr. Crisostomo. He is very intelligent and always willing to help you if you need it. Yes, chemistry is a difficult subject sometimes but GO TO SI! It helped me so much and I got mid to high B's on every test. Also I'm pretty sure he curves his tests even though he never mentions it.
His tests tend to be more difficult than the material he lectures about. An A is very possible if you can teach yourself. I found reading the textbook very helpful. The final was pretty hard though RIP
I did not pay attention in this class and still ended up with over a 100%. His tests are very straightforward, I never had to go to office hours either. Read the slides before the test, and you'll be good. The only reason to attend was that he does in class questions on TopHat, but they aren't worth that much of your grade. Overall, he was good.
Hes not a good professor he literally makes mistakes while explaining things in class then it confuses you. You will be better off not attending class because youll never figure out whats on the test. His test are only a few questions. Aleks seems impossible. Tophat and quizzes are good but not worth enough points. DO NOT TAKE HIM I WARNED YOU!
the way he lectures makes the class seem easier than it is. the whole class was blindsided for the first test. he does review sessions after class which were pretty helpful, but even with going to those, SI, reading the book, and paying a tutor, I couldnt manage to get above a B. he gives lots of chances to improve your grade with aleks and tophat
His lectures are fast paced, but all the slides are online which helps. Copy down the problems he does in class though because those are like what's on the test. Goes way out of his way to be accessible with students and clearly wants the ones who do the work to do well. Tons of Aleks, but it does help on the test.
He knows what he is talking about and is a fair teacher, but in order to truly understand the material you should practice a LOT of problems because the tests are not easy.
TAKE DR. CRISOSTOMO!!!! He is very helpful. Drops lowest test (or did when I was in Chem.), lowest ales grade, and a weeks worth of tophat. I also see a lot of people saying go to his office hours, DO IT. He never makes you feel like an idiot for not knowing something. GO TO SI, REVIEW, AND OFFICE HOURS.
Hes a more than fair teacher. There are three tests, and each test has around 13-15 multiple choice questions and 2-3 short answer questions. Practice the problems from the lecture slides and work through the end of chapter review questions. He will curve test grades based on the classs performance.
He was a pretty good professor. He was available outside of class for help with problems from the textbook which was helpful. His tests were difficult but studying a lot will be beneficial.
Dr. Crisostomo was a great teacher. Very laid back and relaxed. He goes pretty fast through his lectures, but he is very good at explaining difficult concepts. He is willing to help you after class or at his office hours. You just have to be able to put the work in.
Horrible teacher. Makes his tests stupidly hard when it's a basic Chem class. I've looked at other professors' test and they are MUCH easier than his. People will say that he's great b/c he's not a bad guy, but they are probably freshmen and don't understand that a BASIC Chem class shouldn't be harder to get an A in than O-chem.
Professor Crisostomo's class isn't the easiest, but an A is possible with hard work. He really cares about his students and is very helpful during office hours. His tests are straightforward, and I recommend studying his powerpoints and reading the book. Aleks is a 100 point test grade, and he'll drop your lowest exam with your final if it's higher
literally so easy, my high school chem class was harder than this lol
A really nice guy, replaces lowest test with final grade if better. He has pretty difficult test, but if you study and do the worksheets (these are bonus for completion only) then youll do absolutely amazing. Id recommend attending class and assigned readings or youll be pretty lost in the long run.
Dr. C cares about every student. He has review sessions outside of class and is helpful during office hours. By doing the worksheets and studying his powerpoints, you can make it out with an A. Lots of opportunity for bonus as well.
Dr. Crisostomo really tries to explain the concepts of chemistry. I had him for CHEM 1030 too, and I've liked him and his teaching style for both classes. He does examples from the books and explains how to do each problem along with practice sheets at the end of class. The rest is just repetition and being familiar with the concepts... and ALEKS.
I had Dr. C for 1030 and 1040 and he is a good choice. His tests are mainly all the math from the power point, recommend SI or office hours to help. He makes lectures entertaining and he is actually really funny in class. Also, ALEKS is a huge chunk of your grade so be sure to do it, but he does drop the lowest ALEKS grade
Personally thought he was the best chem teacher I've had yet. Lectures are great and practice problems in class help so much. Solid teacher--replaces lowest test with final grade if better. Must study and practice in order to do well.
Dr. Crisostomo went above and beyond to help me understand the material. Including meeting with me through Zoom. (Since it is an online class). Explained and went through the test with me to help me understand my mistakes. BEST chemistry professor at Auburn. None of the others have helped me as much or cared about their students as much as he does.
Dr. C is one of my favorite professors. His lectures are somewhat rushed at times, but that is to be expected from a course with so much material and so little time. You must read the textbook and do practice problems in order to succeed in this class. He is very helpful during office hours, and SI sessions are great. Exams are more than fair.
He is a solid lecture teacher. Not too much homework. Somewhat on the easy side.
Dr. C is a good guy. He gives worksheets to work in class regularly and walks around to answer questions. I had a really hard time paying attention bc of the way he lectured and the material. His tests are really hard, and the common final killed me. He encouraged us to reach out and had regular study sessions. Decent choice for a difficult class.
Crisostomo is probably the best chem professor at Auburn. He is very kind and patient with students. His powerpoints were not very helpful so I would read the textbook. He explains practice problems well. His exams were decently challenging and you definitely have to study to do well. If you ask for help he will do his best to help you succeed.
He's a really great professor and makes the material as easy to understand as possible. There are reading quizzes at the start of each class. There was lots of ALEKS homework but sometimes it's helpful. He gives quite a bit of extra credit towards the end of the semester.
I never really went to class and got a good grade but if you haven't taken chem in high school already then I suggest going or you won't know what's going on. As a professor, I highly recommend him. Aside from his lectures, he's very interactive with his students with all the in-class activities. The final was also super easy. No homework either.
I love Dr. C, took him for 1030 and am taking him again for 1040. He is the best of the chem profs from what I hear, I like that he doesnt just have test grades. He gives grades for reading quizzes, aleks, and worksheets. He really does want to make sure you are understanding the material, gives an in class worksheet and walks around for questions
Dr. C is an amazing prof. I had him for CHEM 1030 also. Chemistry is a hard subject, but he definitely made it much easier. He scales tests and gives extra credit at the end of the semester. Very much possible to get an A. Go to class, read the book, do the problems. Best professor I've had at Auburn.
Dr. Cristostomo is a professor that wants you to succeed and is always willing to help you. He has a great personality and gives fun demonstrations during class. About 2/3 of the class is lecture while the end is left for finishing the daily worksheets which are extremely helpful. If you don't do well, it's because the material is hard, not Dr. C.
This class is hard I'm not gonna lie. I HIGHLY suggest going to his office hours and working with him on problems you will see on the test. He is super smart but also really nice so even if you ask a dumb question he'll be like "right good question!". Try reading the chapters before class and then coming to office hours with questions.
Dr. Crisostomo is a good prof. You have mini-quizzes to start every class which helps with the grade. You also get worksheets (graded for completion) that help you to understand the material and prep for the test. Go to class as he works through some problems in class. Reasonable tests and always willing to help you figure out what you don't know.
Loved Dr. Crisostomo! I took this class Fall 2019 and he would offer reviews on a weekly basis where we could recap the material we were covering and address any questions we had. These reviews and the SI sessions were awesome! He responds quickly to emails and is available during office hours. Wish he taught organic chemistry too!
So different from what the reviews say. Disorganized. Forgets to post/open assignments. Ignores emails. Uses MS Teams but badly. Doesn't connect well with SI leaders so those sessions end up being a waste (unlike SIs for other classes, which were key). Very disappointed. This is the first time RMP has been wrong about one of my profs.
He is extremely accessible, so ask for help. I would recommend going to the review sessions and SIs because they can help you with he practice exams. Overall, he wants you to do will and listens to his students. Sometimes, he even pushes back homework and exams.
I took this class asynchronous over a full summer so no lectures or anything. He uses ALEKS for homework and if you're familiar with it, you know how annoying it can be. Be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING and spend alot of time doing so. Homework takes so much time so no time to study/review. Chegg is your saving grace for ALEKS. Hard tests.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT AUBURN! Whatever you do, take Chem 2 somewhere else if you can. Or at least take it in-person and not online. This is in no way a bad review on Dr. Crisostomo. My class was asynchronous so there was little interaction with him. This class at Auburn is absurdly hard + ALEKS is the biggest headache. Take this somewhere else.
Dr. C made a difficult class very enjoyable and easier to understand. Has a great knowledge of what is going on and a very smart man in general. Anyone on here complaining doesn't put in any effort at all. One of the best teachers I have had at auburn.
Dr. Crisostomo is there because he genuinely enjoys teaching. He isn't very accessible after 6:00 pm, but he is more than willing to help before then. The class isn't rocket science but you do have to study and stay on top of the workload, which is about 15-30 minutes a day if you manage your time well.
his lectures are based on material you should have already gone over. He sucks. He gives you a ton of practice problems along with homework to practice on, and after doing everything he gave us along with the SI practice test and last year's practice test, still failed his exams. He asks the most difficult questions possible within the material.
He is a good teacher but the course material in itself is very difficult. He gives lots of extra work to help balance those test grades.
I was so excited to take this class bc he had the best reviews, but I sort of regret it. Dr. Crisostomo expects you to learn the material from the 3 minute "review" videos he posts before class. Lots of practice sheets rather than learning from him. He doesn't seem to interested in his students, but rather about if your mask is on or not.
Dr. C is a solid professor who wants you to succeed. He's easily accessible and offers plenty of practice for you to work on leading up to tests. Chemistry is a pretty tough class, but if you utilize the options he gives you you'll do well.
the way he laid out his class was prep video lectures, then the actual lecture was a hybrid of lecture and practice sheets. i would def recommend si sessions.
His only lecturing is in prerecorded videos he posts on canvas and quick reviews of the textbook chapters at the beginning of class. His tests are straightforward but extremely difficult and he doesn't give partial credit. He seems to know what he's talking about but no matter how much I studied I couldn't do better than a 60 on an exam.
Dr. C was probably one of the most helpful professors I had my freshman year. He gave plenty of help inside and outside of class and was more than generous with extra points on each test and at the end of the semester.
Not the worst professor I have ever had but definitely not my favorite. I took ap chem in high school so I expected to do somewhat okay in this class and I didnt. I did not learn anything. The only way he "teaches" is by posting videos before class. Going to class was pointless bc I never learned anything at all. go to SI sessions to get help
Chem1030 was absolutely brutal. He barely taught in class and when it did it was 30 mins out of an hour and a half lecture, he expects you to study 90% of material before class and in your free time. You spend all of class doing 1 or 2 worksheets and thats it. Majority of the class leave after the lecture. Dont take him if you want a good grade
This class is hard but not because of the teacher. Dr. C really cares about his students and is willing to work with you if you are willing to work. I would really use the textbook and do not get behind. Going to class is optional but I strongly recommend. Getting behind in this class is not a good idea. Get ready to work!
He provides a lot of opportunities to learn. He actually cares if you understand. The homework is meant to help you, and its nice that he actually goes over them with you and not a TA. I had him for CHEM 1030 and CHEM 1040, so during the start of quarantine, and he still provided amazing teaching. I wish I could have had him for OCHEM 2.
I highly recommend Dr. C. I had him for Chem I and about to finish with him in Chem II. 4 exams, lowest gets dropped if you get higher on the final. Weekly HW. Pre-Class material before each class. Not an easy class but he is very helpful. Work hard, use his resources, you will succeed. He's always willing to help, you just have to ask him. 10/10!
I took David for a second time for Chem II. It was awful; I dropped. Granted, I hate chemistry, but he did not make it any better. A flipped classroom does not work for a class of this level and difficulty.
Easy labs. Thats about all thats easy. The tests are pretty hard but he curves the final. Would not recommend if you want to actually learn anything. Do not recommend
He is kind of annoying and rude and does not teach in class. You are expected to learn all material before class. Tests are hard and he is not caring or approachable.
Chem 2 is a hard class, but Crisostomo provides you with so much practice and information to do well. You do have to put in work to succeed, but he really tries to help everyone. As long as you practice practice practice, you will do well.
Chem 2 is a very hard class, however, Dr. C explains the information really well. The class is still really hard and is very much work and most of the grades are depending on the exams. Overall, Dr. C is a good teacher but the subject is hard.
Dr. C is a very good choice for whatever level of Chemistry you are taking. He uses a flipped classroom approach (although I hear a lot of Chem profs do). You are given everything you need to succeed and it is in your hands to actually use them. Dr. C is very willing to help if you get stuck, you just have to make an effort.
I took Dr. C for CHEM 1030 and 1040 and I would definitely take him again. His teaching style is very helpful and his practice sheets are very similar to the exams. He is also very accessible outside of class and makes an effort to make sure his students succeed. If you put in effort in his class, you can make a good grade.
Dr. C was an amazing teacher for chem 1040. All I did was read the text book 1 hour a day before class, showed up and listened, did the worksheets, and did the homework. It was less work than I anticipated. Chegg will save your life. Study all the homework well. I ended with a 101 in the class which is a first for me in college. Math heavy!
Dr. Crisostomo is a great professor for CHEM 1 & 2. Both classes are really hard, but he cares enough to go over his exams with you to explain why you made the grade you did, and he's willing to meet with you when you need it.
This class is very difficult, as are many chemistry classes in college. He is passionate about his teaching, but operates on a flipped classroom. This can be overwhelming; therefore, it requires a lot of time to do the pre-class work, along with practice sheets and homework. Doing all of this is beneficial to having a good grade in his class.
One of the best chemistry teachers I have ever had! He is very nice and helpful if you are ever confused about anything and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. He wants us to do well but also isn't going to go easy on you. Overall, he is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
I loved Dr. Crisostomo! However, his class is a flipped classroom. You have to spend a good amount of time outside the classroom to learn the material, but if you put in the work, you will get a good grade. He is very accessible and takes his time to help his students outside of class. Overall, one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had!
His class is a flipped classroom but if you put in the time exams are fairly easy. He is caring, understanding, and wants his students to succeed. he offered some extra credit which can really help your grade. overall he is a good chem professor, but it can still be a difficult class. MAKE SURE YOU PUT IN THE TIME BECAUSE YOUR GRADE WILL REFLECT IT
Great professor! It's a flipped classroom, so watch the pre-class videos and come to class prepared to practice what you learned outside of class. He replaces your lowest exam score if you make higher on the final. Also has several opportunities to get bonus points on tests and final. Chem is a hard class anyways, but he wants you to do well.
He is a pretty good professor. I didn't watch the videos before class which wasn't helpful but on the days I did decide to do that it was pretty helpful. He does have a flipped classroom so you read the chapters and watch the videos he posts before class and then practice in class. He offers lots of options to boost your grade which was great.
I loved him! He does a flipped classroom but his lectures outside of class take an hour max. He spends class giving us time to do work to make sure you understand the content, especially since it is hard content. He cares about his students a lot and wants to see them succeed.
I am horrible at chemistry, but Crisostomo seems like a decent teacher. Lots of reading, but he does give a couple opportunities for extra credit. Good guy, odd class.
I hate chem so I hated this class. Not a bad guy but he lectures for maybe 5 min and then you sit there all class and work problems.
I really enjoyed this class and his teaching style. A lot of the material you are supposed to learn outside of class, but if you go to his lectures, he will recap all the notes and answer any questions about practice problems. He also provides lots of extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester. Take him if you can.
Dr. C gives so many opportunities for you to get help. There are open hours nearly every weekday, SI, LA, even he is quick to answer emails. His exams are an accurate representation of the hw's and textbook problems. The only thing I dislike is his test questions of "choose all that apply". 1040 is math heavy but it's not his fault.
I think he is a great option for CHEM1040. He gives lots of extra credit and offers lots of opportunities to meet outside of class. His tests are more math-heavy than concept heavy which I personally like more. He also has a flipped classroom so you are expected to watch 5-10 minute videos before most classes.
I had Dr. C for Chem 1030 and 1040, and he's my favorite professor I've ever had. Very caring and accessible and wants his students to do well. Flipped classroom but his review sessions and SI sessions were super helpful. Exams are an accurate representation of his worksheets, and he offers extra credit. Put in the work and you will get an A.
Chem 1040 is a very tough class but Dr Crisostomo is one of the best options available. He genuinely cares and is very accessible for help outside of class. He put on a review session for the final in which he was available for 8 total hours and I was able to receive one on one help which helped so much. Bonus offered at the end of semester as well
I have Dr. C for CHEM 1010, and he is the best! His classroom is flipped, so you have to watch videos before to learn, but the daily worksheets really help. He genuinely cares and offers many opportunities for extra credit. He helps clearly explain a concept if you do not understand it. I highly recommend taking him.
He is an outstanding professor and I recommend taking him. The content is taught in videos outside of class and practice in class. Asking questions in this class helped me do well in this class. There is also plenty of review before exams and he cares that everyone understands the material even though it is in a lecture hall.
He is a very kind person but he does not teach. He sends out videos he made years ago for us to watch the lesson and then expects us to know how to do the math from the few problems he did in the video. If this is not your learning style I recommend finding a different professor. He did a few problems in class on the board from the whole semester.
FLIPPED CLASSROOM! he might lecture for 5 minutes and then let you do work for the rest of the time so you can ask him or the TA questions. i think i liked his class because i had a great teacher in high school so i already knew everything going in, but i wouldn't recommend if you don't have a great grasp on chem topics already. super nice guy
Crisostomo operates purely on a flipped classroom - with that being said, you have to teach everything to yourself. His tests were EXTREMELY difficult. They were nothing like his old exams and he ALWAYS gives the hardest questions. There was little motivation for me to work in this class since it didn't seem like he cared about actually teaching.
Flipped classroom- watch videos before class then do an assignment/ask questions during class period. Probably not a teaching style for everyone but worked well for me. As long as you do the work/study for class beforehand you will stay on track but it's easy to get behind. Tests weren't bad as long as you're prepared. taking him again for 1040!
Dr. C is great, his lectures are informative and easy to follow. He is a very compassionate professor and makes sure to cover content thoroughly. The only reason I did not enjoy this class and would not take again is because it is a flipped classroom which doesn't match my learning style.
Great professor! Willing to help and has lots of opportunities for extra help outside of class. Tests are very difficult but partial credit is offered. 100% would recommend.
The flipped classroom is hard at first, but once you hold yourself to a schedule it will help you so much. He has good availability outside class and there are extra credit opportunities. The practice problems you do will prepare you for the final, and his tests aren't fully multiple choice so you can definitely get some partial credit.
Dr. C is passionate about Chem and you can tell he wants his students to do well. Classroom was flipped so it was hard to learn but Dr. C makes it easier than other professors. He gives a tonnn of extra credit opportunities and the final was curved. Chemistry is hard but Dr. C is the best professor for it.
the best chem professor!! he genuinely cares about his students learning. super nice + approachable and will help you inside and outside of class. The class is semi-hard, but it's the subject and has not Dr. C himself. Prerecords short EXTREMELY HELPFUL lecture vids. barely needed to do readings. Attendance isn't mandatory unless you want to pass:)
Dr. C is a very nice guy and is always available outside of class but I wouldn't recommend him if chem isn't your fave subject or if you don't have a good chem background. I understood what I learned in his course but the tests are very difficult. The in-class practice sheets were nice but felt like a waste of time if you didn't watch the lectures
If you are not accustomed to a flipped classroom style then, this class is NOT for you. Very nice guy and cares for students, but still a difficult class.
I loved Dr. C! He is very accessible outside of class, and makes an effort to make himself available for hours during the week of an exam. Homework is on Pearson, and he gives about two weeks per assignment. He also gives lots of extra credit opportunities. However, only take this class if you know that you will keep up with the material.
Crisostomo was not the best professor. He was bland, uninteresting, and barely taught which made going to class unnecessary. Wish he explained the information we were learning a bit more. Theres a lot of online homework that is easy to get behind in. Chemistry wasn't the worse but could've been better!
you can do well in this class if you know you're going to be on top of taking notes outside of class and aren't afraid to ask questions. i don't thrive in flipped classrooms tho but dr. c was funny and personable if you get to know him, so go to office hours! test were always harder than the study materials we were given to study so do other stuff!
Would not recommend this professor! He teaches a flipped classroom, so it is harder to learn. You do not do anything in class, so there is almost no point in going. You have to rely heavily on SI sessions and tutoring in order to pass this class. Would not take again if I didn't have to.
Dr. C is one of my favorite professors. I took him for two semesters and he offers so many office hours and study sessions throughout the week. It is a tough class in general, but Dr. C wants you to succeed and gives you ample opportunity to do so. You just have to put in the work and initiative on your behalf. Dr. C is a great professor and person
Dr. C is one of my favorite professors at Auburn. He is very approachable and cares about his students. You get out of this class exactly what you put into it. It is flipped classroom, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and practice in class. If you know you won't be able to keep up with material outside of class, this is not for you.
Dr. C has been one of the best professors I have had at Auburn. His course is a flipped classroom but he offers SO many office hours for students to attend and ask questions for clarification. The course is overall very math heavy but that is just the material. Dr. C is very willing to help, if you aren't afraid to put to the work in.
I didn't realize I registered for a flipped classroom style, which is not for me. Crisostomo is nice and a good professor, but if you don't do well in flipped classrooms, don't take him. Otherwise, he's accessible and willing to help, and the SI sessions can help a lot. Attendance isn't required, but go to class if you have questions.
Decent guy, bad professor. He's very available outside of class, but he runs a flipped classroom so there is no point in attending lectures as they are just 50 minute practice sessions. His videos online are too brief and do not teach the concepts well. Content is difficult enough without having to teach yourself everything.
It's a flipped classroom, and he is lazy. Gives a 5 minute video to watch before class, but expects you to be able to fill out an entire worksheet from it. No need to go to class, he only goes over one problem. Hated his style of teaching because he doesn't give enough resources. Only reason I'm doing fine is because my SI was a genius.
Not much reason to go to class, it is flipped so do not take if you can't watch tons of videos. study, study, study!! He gives practice exams which are about 30% accurate as to what the real exam will look like. He does give lots of extra credit at the end which can bump your grade up 3%.
I absolutely loved Dr. C and really succeeded in this course even with a flipped classroom style. He really cares about his students and offers a ton of office hours and exam review before exams. Practice exams are just like his exams! As long as you do the notes and practice exam you will do great in this course!
Dr. C is cool, I guess. I am never ever taking a reverse classroom ever ever again. He's nice, but the lecture videos do not cover all the content, so my advice is to read the textbook. Final is the ACS general chem 2 exam which is scaled nationally.
Dr. C's class has a flipped format, so it takes some adjustment, but he's a caring professor who genuinely wants students to succeed. The coursework is challenging, but using unstuck ai along with the textbook and office hours can really help. Overall, a tough yet rewarding class.
Dr. C teaches in a flipped classroom style and provides Zoom lectures for those who cannot make his class. He truly cares for his students by staying after class for additional office hours and providing plenty of extra credit opportunities!
JUST NO unless you're great at chem. I thought flipped classroom would be better since this is math heavy class but you watch the 5-15 minute videos before and he goes over 1-2 problems in class(not even the hard problems), the rest of the time you are working on a worksheet by yourself and you have to ask questions to the TA's walking around.
Amazing professor! Dr. C is very kind and gives you all the resources needed do well in his class. It's a flipped classroom, so he posts lectures to watch on your own time, while class time is used to complete homework and ask for help from him and the LA's. I found that the prerecorded lectures were helpful to study with. ACS is generously curved.
Dr. C is very nice and that is the only reason I gave him 4 stars. He is a great person but not a good teacher. Flipped classroom is awful for me. This is my second time taking him for this class because I knew the class set up. If it weren't for the LAs I wouldn't have passed this time either.
Dr. C is one of the best professors I've had, TAKE HIM!!! Even though it's flipped classroom if you go to class and work through the worksheets he gives it helps so much. He walks around during class along with LAs and answers any questions, and he's super nice and has a ton of office hours and reviews before exams. Overall, great professor!
I don't want to rate him poorly since he seems like a nice guy. Flipped classroom style, wouldn't recommend taking it if you have a lot of other classes and procrastinate easily. Don't be like me, attend the lectures and SI sessions if you have the time. Keep up with the homework. I fell behind and withdrew after failing the first two exams.
It's a flipped classroom which is great for people who can learn that way. if you learn better by being lectured in class this is not the teacher for you. Attendance isn't required but getting help from him and the LAs in class is really helpful. Overall wouldn't take again because that isn't my learning style but could be for others.
If you would like an entire self-guided/taught kind of class, you're in for a treat here. All of the learning is through videos before class, but a lot of the worksheets guide you through the material in class. He is super helpful when it comes to questions. The test are really easy and short and maybe a homework assignment every other week.
Seems like a nice guy, but has a flipped classroom—which works for some people but definitely not me—especially in a subject like chemistry! Exams have questions that are nowhere to be seen on worksheets you complete in class and he seems to choose the hardest possible questions for each concept, instead of testing you on the concept as a whole.
Generally I like Professor Crisostomo. He does a flipped classroom style which can be good. I liked that during class we did practice problems and had TAs there to help us. I kind of wish he lectured in person more though. The exams have FRQs which is slightly challenging but also gives point opportunities. The course itself is difficult.
Dr. C is a really nice person who responds to emails very quickly. However, he uses a flipped classroom model which just did not work for me. His PowerPoints are from Pearson unlike other profs for this class who make their own that are much simpler and concise. Overall nice prof but his teaching method just did not work for me and led to me WD
I dropped this class because it is extremely difficult. He operates a flipped classroom which was terrible for me because I have no prior chemistry knowledge. He doesn't explain much about how to do anything. You can ask questions in class but most of the time it didn't helped. Do NOTTTTT take this class. He was the bane of my existence.
It is a flipped classroom style, which is very hard with scarce background chemistry knowledge. His lectures consist of videos to take notes on at home, but the concepts are not broken down well and are very difficult to understand. Exams were 10 times harder than anything we did in class and even studying for hours I was unprepared.
He was unclear about what he expected from you as a student and used a flipped classroom model. You're graded on three tests and various homework assignments, so it is not difficult to pass, but going to this class was unnecessary. Exams were usually taken in groups, but they were often much more difficult than the worksheets. Avoid if possible.
If you have to take this dude just pray. The class is flip-classroom setup. You end up teaching yourself the entire course. His "teaching" is just answering a few questions and maybe, only maybe, going over like 2 examples in class. He'll give you example tests to look at but every test is about 100x harder than anything you did in class.
Flipped Classroom. Take that how you will. Common ACS final.
Great teacher!! I hadn't taken chemistry in 4 years, so I was so nervous. He is a great teacher and always willing to help!! The flipped classroom isn't a big deal if you go to class & ask questions. Go to office hours also. He also gives so many extra credit opportunities. Would recommend him x1000
Do not take his class. He uses a flipped class. He has a lot of opportunities to get help, but if you don't a lot of extra time you will fail. This shouldn't even be considered an in person class.
Flipped classroom style is so hard to do for chemistry. In class we would do practice sheets, but they were way easier than the questions on the tests. The tests were so hard and the written part was even harder. Do not recommend if you can't keep up with all the lectures. However, he is a super kind and understanding professor.
