Can be difficult if you aren't willing to work hard. Lectures flow perfectly with the book, posts notes online,curves the tests,still a student himself so he does understand what you are going through,has a real interest in the the subject. Buy used or older version of book. Good teacher that you will learn from but work is required.

Very intelligent and thorough teacher. He has a slight 'holier than thou' attitude at times, but it's nothing to take personally. Tests are tough and challenging, just take good notes and you'll be fine. He always lets us out early and Labs were super simple. Helps prepare students for upper-level science courses, so be prepared. Overall, good guy.

Prof. Curtis is cool. Test are ok as long as you study. Notes are from the powerpoints. Lab are pretty simple. Makes the lectures interesting. He grades on a curve, so that helps a lot. This is a class for Bio majors, so it is a little more challenging, but not too tough. I would take him again for a higher science course.

Great teacher, but not easy. You'll have to work for your grade, but very fair with partial credit and a few opportunities for extra credit, as well. Interesting speaker, and loves the subject matter. Expects you to know the material - don't expect a list of 50 questions you'll need to memorize for your tests. All in all, a great professor.

I took this class in the summer which I do not recommend. He's a very engaging & funny teacher. Class usually finished early. This is a difficult subject so you will have to study to pass both the class and lab. Labs are very simple. Tests are very difficult but as long as you study you will pass this class:) Overall great teacher great class.

This is one of my favorite professors. He is super funny and keeps class interesting. If you are looking for an easy "A" this class is not for you. Your grade is based on Tests only. If you want to learn about Microbiology and are serious about it you will do great in his class.

DO NOT TAKE HIS MCB CLASS UNLESS YOU PLAN ON MAJORING IN BIOLOGY. If you work and have other classes, take someone else. He gives you 3 Exams, 2 lab practicals and 1 final. That's it. His exams are EXTREMELY hard. He is very smart and very good at making class entertaining, BUT his exams are ridiculously hard. 3/4 the class failed every single exam

Wonderful professor! He is a great lecturer and his tests are very straightforward, with no surprises. He offers extra credit on every exam and quiz. Study his PowerPoint notes, read the chapters, and take the online practice tests, and there's no reason you shouldn't make an A. I highly recommend him.

This class is not an easy A but it is very interesting. You HAVE to read the chapters and take notes from them- which can take you a couple hours per chapter! You have to study for lab quizzes as well. Again, you HAVE to read and study to get an A but Prof. Curtis is very helpful and explains hard concepts very clearly.

I didn't have much knowledge or interest in Micro before I started this class, but all that changed. Professor Curtis is smart, enthusiastic, and extremely helpful. Yes, this class is hard, and you will probably spend a couple of hours per chapter, but it is worth it. Don't take this class if you have a full course load. It is possible to get an A.

Good professor, knows the material and is interested in you learning it. Great at explaining subject matter, but does expect you to read chapters before class to have a discussion. He is an amazing professor. Lectures are so clear, it just makes sense when he explains concepts. Grading is pretty strict, 4 exams, 1 lab midterm, 1 lab final, 1 lecture final, lab and lecture quizzes. The lecture is very organized. Put the effort. Resolve that you will get an A. visit him during office hours and build a relationship, have your questions answered etc. you can get older book version on amazon for $20. Microbiology is a tough subject but I enjoy this profesor's teaching style. You can kinda come to expect what to see on quizzes. He's very direct, crystal clear, and never once has to reference a book when he is teaching material. I'd recommend this class! Dont even buy a book, everything is powerpoint, including ALL test questions from PPTs.

Prof. Curtis puts so much effort into his lectures & he makes the class enjoyable. He is a little arrogant at times but is extremely smart! I took this with A&P1 & it was a LOT of time studying! Without a doubt you should take Prof. Curtis for Bio I. He is a phenomenal teacher who actually cares if the students learn. He was funny and found a way to make even the dullest subject interesting. I have so much trust in his abilities as a teacher that I have even recommended personal friends to take him.

He lectures at a level that even the slowest student can understand, and he doesn't mind clarifying concepts that students don't understand. Although his lectures are crystal clear, students still need to do their parts to be successfull, which are homeworks and study the materials.

I really enjoyed microbiology with Professor Curtis. His lectures are great. I was never bored. I thought the content was challenging, but not impossible. I studied a lot, but it was worth it. The lab is really fun, but requires a lot of time make sure you understand and can recall the information. I would definitely take him again.

This professor does a great job at connecting the material to the medical field. Don't waste your time and money on someone who will just give you an A. Professor Curtis is amazing!!! There are fill in the blank quizzes every class but he prepares you for them and tells you what to study. Goes over the answers in the lecture class. Lecture quizzes are done after the class ends and lab quizzes are done before class starts. He is an amazing professor and I would take him again. Book not needed.

Curtis is the best prof I've taken. Quizzes every meeting day and it is all fill in the blanks, but it's all on the really obvious/major concepts from the lecture or lab. He gives you his powerpoints to use as notes and to pass his tests make sure you fully can explain/understand the answers to the questions at the end of the chapter notes.

I am currently in Dr. Curtis' microbiology class, before the semester began I honestly was afraid I would get a B because I am also taking A&PII. He is AMAZING!! The best professor I have had at Valencia. Very clear in his lectures and what he expects from his students. Honestly anyone that has a poor rating for him, probably didn't put in the work

He really is very good at lecturing and explaining the material, gives lots of information (never gets boring). At the the same time he is very tough on is exams and quizzes. You have to put in a lot of time studying. You do not need a textbook or lab manual as he gives out NARRATED power points of his lectures which is good for studying.

This class was in my opinion a very easy A, NO BUSY WORK and professor gives plenty of EXTRA CREDIT. Do not take any other professor for Micro - you must take him. You don't need the book just read power-points. His power points are verbalized. Very articulate white guy so you can understand the terminology. EASY A!!!!!!

This has been one of the best classes I've taken so far. Made me question my major. I'm glad I was able to get him as my professor. Review power points before lectures and it'll make this easier. He is always available to answer questions but be ready to answer some of his.

Great professor! He really is able to get his point across through his lectures, and he is very good about lecturing to his tests. He doesn't I've any extra credit, but the class wasn't exceptionally difficult if you put the time in to prepare. It is a difficult class, you should already be prepared to put a lot of time into it.

By far the best prof I have taken in all my semesters at Valencia. He actually does provide a study guide, its the review questions at the end of each chapter. Hes very approachable and genuinely wants you to pass. If youre not doing well thats totally on you. If you need help ask for it, he will go out his way to do just that. Amazing prof!

Professor Curtis is a great teacher! You do need to work for your grade but he gives you the material that will be on his quizzes and tests. It's a lot of information to study, if you know how to organize your time for school you can pass. There are also a lot of quizzes and homework so your grade doesn't only depend on the exams.

I loved this class! Professor Curtis is easily the best science teacher I have ever had, his grading is clear and he goes over everything until you understand it. ive taken micro twice before him and he is by far the best professor ive ever had . i was finally able to understand everything i studied he makes micro fun and he is very friendly,sweet and responds to every question that ive asked. i am really glad i was able to finally understand microbiology and pass with his great teaching method.

Although this class was to an easy A which I didn't expect it to be, he really does try to answer all of your questions so that you do understand EVERYTHING without making you feel dumb at all! He e-mails back in a timely matter. I took him in the summer and just know the course is not watered down or made any easier so be considerate of that.

Professor Curtis is the best.I never used my book, if you record his lectures and fill out the chapter reviews he gives you an option to do, you will ace every test. he honestly is a pretty good teacher. I honestly didnt want to stay for the 3 hours lectures so I would just watch the video lectures he provides, and youll pass if you do that. The homework and lab homework is super easy, its just time consuming. As long as you do most of the work and semi pass the tests, you will definitely get a B at least.

Hes so great! Always ready to answer your questions and responds fast to emails. I wish he taught every science class because Id ace all of them. A lot of busy work but Im the kind of student who needs repetition so I like it and definitely helps my grade. The labs are fun and i genuinely learned a lot from his class. Definitely take him!

Really good professor, but there are two quizzes and homework assignments due weekly that took lots of work for very few points. Lectures help a lot and he posts power points with a voiceover to explain them more. Tests were hard so get ready to study. There's two timed lab practicals that are only written response, study hard for them.

I am at awe. Professor Curtis has a well balance grading scale. The work load is heavy but its for your good, meaning it softens the blow on the exams if you don't to well on it. Advice do the "check your understanding" questions and also re-watching the lecture videos before the exams helps alot. You will be in good hands.

Prof. C is a good professor who will answer any and all questions. Zoom meetings weekly and powerpoints as well. Downside: no study guides for hard exams, way too much homework (4 hours each assignment or more), quizzes weekly. You need to read the book. I could have gotten a better B but I slacked the last couple weeks and didn't study for final.

This is the best professor you would wanna take for microbiology. I never wanted to leave the labs at all they were very insightful and the professor explains things very clearly and makes sure everyone is participating. He also gave time for students to reach out to him for questions. Tests are heavy so make sure to study hard.

the best professor to take for what's considered a pretty hard class. this is my last nursing pre req and I felt like I learned so much pertaining to healthcare and infectious disease. his canvas is so simple and organized and only one assignment per week which is the study guide and one quiz per week. I genuinely learned so much from him!

He was a very good professor, he was very willing to help. The material was difficult but he gives u lots of flexibility to do assignments the was they would benefit you. i would take him as a professor again in a heartbeat, loves his class.

I personally loved taking his class. I'm taking him during the summer so its accelerated but that didn't take away from the fact that he truly is a great professor. If I could take him for another class I would. This class IS a hard class but his lectures make it easy to understand.

Great teacher! His videos are the best, take notes and you will learn the important concepts. Every week homework and quiz. No camera. 5 exams with camera. You study your homework for the exams. If you did good in the first 4 exams you would not have to take the last one. Lab easy homework.

Dr Curtis is AMAZING! Micro is a hard class but he has an excellent way of teaching things even though it is mixed mode. He answers all questions and is truly one of the kindest people I have met. His test are online and proctored but everything else is also submitted online. One of my favorite classes and favorite professors.

Professor Curtis is amazing and passionate to what he does. Do not be afraid to ask him questions if you are stuck on something because he'll explain it to you again and make you feel confident moving forward.

Professor Curtis runs a challenging but rewarding class. The material is tough, but he provides flexibility to tackle assignments in a way that benefits you. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for exam prep - highly recommend it!

Highly recommend! I enjoyed this class!. To get the best grade in this class, I would recommend doing your Check Your Understanding assignments (CYUs). When you finish go back, really try to breakdown your answer to fully understand. The tests are based on CYU since we do not use the textbook. Don't skip lab you need it for the practical. Have fun!

Professor Curtis was amazing, his lectures are clear and have all the information necessary for the unit quizzes. His canvas is organized and you always know what you are supposed to do. His labs were very interesting and fun. The best part is that there is no final exam for the lectures, however there is a lab practical final exam. Overall 10/10

I love Professor Curtis. I did mix mode class and his recording is amazing, short and focused. He give you a homework to do it while listening his recording. That is pretty much your test, and if you do it well, you do great. Testing and lab is online with honorlock. I only got B because I didn't study for my 1st test. Take him!!!!

Professor Curtis is Great! He is very straightforward with his expectations and instructions for the asssignments. He doesn't make the class more difficult then what it has to be. I was super nervous about taking this course becasue I knew it would be diffucult, but with Professor Curtis it was a Breeze.

Professor Curtis is by far the kindest and most knowledgeable professor I have ever had in college. He articulates his thoughts in a way that is easy to understand and genuinely teaches so that his students can understand. If I could I would take this class again just to experience his teaching methods one last time. Definitely take him for Micro!

Great professor and very understanding. A mixed-mode format is definitely preferable. Overall, a great teacher. I used the lecture notes as a study guide for quizzes and tests, and the material matched the notes pretty accurately. The course used Honorlock, but the professor provides plenty of study material.

Professor Curtis is one of the best professors I've had. Grades and work are straightforward, and his lectures are easy to follow. As long as you're using everything he's giving you, you'll get a good grade.
