He is a fantastic intro to phil. teacher and a wonderful person to talk to. He inspired me to pursue further study in philosophy and I'm now majoring in it at a 4 year college.

The material he presents had such an impact on me. All of a sudden the world made more sense after I took his class, plus he's just a great guy.

He is a great teacher but the reading can get confusing at times. Fairly decent amount of work to do but not that hard. Crazy lab unit requirement but you can just watch the movies to fulfill it.

Amazing teacher, really opens your eyes to the crazy stuff in this world going on right under our noses. Kind of hard, but will gladly help if you just ask, definately recommended.

Very good professor!

I've taken two classes from this professor because he's one of my favorite ever. Very interesting, intelligent, and nice.

Very interesting and good person. He introduces many new subject and get you thinking even when not in class. He could explain things a little more though cause some of it is a little difficult to grasp.

A very good soul. AND a wonderful teacher. Great listener. Highly intelligent.

This class is hard. Lots of reading and writing required. Danielson will grade your work very harshly too. Seems to give C's when other teachers would give a B for same work. Your mind will be opened but don't expect an A. Book is pricey, you can find it cheaper on froogle.com.

He will make you think. This class was set up the most like any University class. He will ask a lot out of you, but you'll gain a lot in return if you just try. I'd recomend him for any class he teaches!!!

Great teacher. Very approachable, very human, and funny as hell sometimes. Drinks out of a metal Krunk Cup, and has not touched a comb in years. My personal fav. teacher at csm. CAL calibre professor at a Community College price...

I Love Danielson! he's my favorite teacher at CSM. his classes are challenging, but after the reward of completing the class most everyone walks out of there with new insight about themselves as a person. i recommend any of his classes!

Danielson was a savage of a teacher...He has many thoughts on a wide array of topics yet makes your thoughts the important ones...the class was very helpful for those searching for philosophy answers to life. Be warned that there are many things to read!

Great Class! A thought provoker! Very clear from the first day all the requirements of the class, no reason to not pass? Obviously a teacher who likes to share. Danielson has a vast amount of knowledge and life experience. I felt bad when there were those students who didn’t appreciate a great teacher. Youth is a terrible thing to waste!

He really opens your eyes about what is going on in this world. I have never thought the way I have until I took him. This is the one class that has ACTUALLY impacted me and made me think. I love this teacher! He is so smart and knows everything. Sort of a challenge, but he makes you want to write. Definately take him!!!!!!

great guy...only class that i had hella homework in...and it really wasn't even that much(one assignment a week) and the first essay has a re-write...the mid-term is a take home and so is the final...dude i've had high school classes harder then this...why people fail at CSM i will never know man...ya know there's more to school then just going...

Easy. Though the topic is stupid boring, he makes it seem interesting. Lots of writing but it's common sense writing. Just read the assigned read and it's a cake walk through the semester. take him for both PHIL 100 and 244

Danielson is an amazing person. He is thoughtful and kind. He is definitely one of, if not the best professors at CSM.

He is an awesome teacher. He is very knowledgeable in philosophy among many other subjects. This class is very hard in that it takes a lot of concentration and attention to detail. I have grown immensely due to taking this course; and if you want to change your life for the better, take his class.

probably the most inspirational man i have ever met. he takes the time to get to know each individual student, which i really appreciate. very well-rounded, open-minded person. definitely someone i can say i would look up to.

Classes were interesting and mind-opening. You learn about different philosophers and how they viewed the world. Homework assignments are easy, just write response sheets to what you read. Exams are all essays. I didn't do well on essays but did all my work and showed up to everything and pulled an A.

BEST TEACHER EVER. Extremely intelligent, inspiring, encouraging, helpful, funny. He made you WANT to do well. Forces you to think. You want to know what this man is like? Go on YouTube and find Taylor Mali's "What do you make?" You'll get a good idea what kind of teacher he is. I owe a lot to Prof. Danielson. Take his class, keep up on readings!

Honestly,one of the hardest classes Ive taken at CSM.I had to work my ass off for my grade but,in the end was truely challenged and walked away with a whole new outlook on life.He challenges you to open your eyes to the world around you and although you have to read a lot and write essays,it will DEF. benefit you in the long run.I loved this class!

Cool class. No multiple choice tests, all essays for exams. No quizzes either, so grade is made up of some extra credit, exams, and homework.

No other professor on campus is as good as Danielson when it comes to lecturing. He morphs himself into the philosopher the class is currently reading and he gives detailed talks on the philosopher's belief system. I've never had a more interesting educational experience. Essays are difficult but as long as you try hard, its an easy but fun ride

He is a good teacher.He always looks for participation...so participate or otherwise its just him talkin the whole class. its much more fun if the whole class is involved. Definately take his class if you wanna learn something..attend all classes, this will help you pass!

Danielson is nominated by me as one of the most influential professors at CSM. His grading is hard but in the end you gain so much. When completing his course I felt a sense of loss because of how much he has change my "self". His class requires serious comittment!

Professor Danielson is really smart and definitely knows his stuff! I can appreciate the way he makes lectures interesting by involving class participation and having everyone put in their opinion. I highly recommend taking his class.

Dave is an awesome character. He transforms into the philosopher that you will be studying during that week. Will make you open your eyes to the real world and how things work. Will teach you about how great philosophers thought, and in turn, you will learn how to think/see. Enthusiastic man, teaches through conversation, eager to know you. TAKE IT

Plain and simple, *GREAT* teacher. He gets his students involved and actually interacts with him during his lectures instead of just listening to himself talk. If you ever had a class where all you did was take notes, listen to the teacher talk, and coming out the class not knowing more that you did before. This class will do the exact opposite.

If you want to become a better student/person/scholar, take his class. He will inspire you in more ways than you can imagine--directly or indirectly. You will grow immensely and, through dedication and interaction, will earn a good grade. Read,think, talk and take charge of your education, and you won't be sorry you took this class.

I took philosophy 244 because it was a pre-req for my major. Great class content and awesome professor. Attend class, do homework (about a paragraph once a week;good reference for final paper!) and be able to write well structured essays. Some texts require you to read them twice but it's def possible to understand. Seriously changes the way you think and how well you know yourself- much appreciated!

GREAT TEACHER!!! i suggest that everybody take him b/c he makes learning interesting, he makes you want to go to class to see what crazy things he says/does next. but b/c he is eccentric, he wants everybody to learn; therefore making him a difficult teacher. HE IS TOTALLY WORTH THE STRUGGLE!

This was, by far, the most interesting class I have taken at CSM. Danielson is an excellent teacher, and his lectures are funny, intriguing, and informative. I have learned so much from this teacher, and the topics discussed in this class. He is also great for PHIL100.

This class was challenging, being that I'm not one for much critical thinking, yet I learned a lot. This class opened my horizons and lectures were very interesting. Be sure to read the textbook to get a better understanding and maybe take notes on lectures. If you put in the effort,he'll recognize it,and you'll do fine. Also,check out movie night.

Truly the most fantastic instructor I have ever had in my life. An unsurpassed quality experience, and a high caliber human being who just gets it. If you want to be inspired, and you want to be awake, look no further. This one sets the bar very high. He reminds me why I am doing what I'm doing. There is work involved, but it is well worth it!

He is the greatest professor/person whom I've ever met in my life. He changed not only my perception toward the world, but also my life itself. Without him, I would not have been able to achieve anything in CSM. After all, I took there classes, PHIL100, 244, and HUMN.125 from him, and what I learned from him becomes the jewels of my life.

One of the best teachers/professors I have ever had. Dave Danielson will literally change your life if you are interested in philosophy, world issues, or finding out more about the true nature of reality. Do the readings and you will get an A. Stanford quality professor; CSM is lucky to have him.

Actually I had taken this class almost 3 years ago and I transferred to UC last year, yet he is still one of the best professors whom I met in my life. He taught me not only about philosophy, but also how to live on my life. Highly recommend to take his class even though his class is challenging. He is definitely the one of millions.

HILARIOUS professor!! Tests are based highly off lecture so make sure to take good notes-do not copy directly from slides-make sure to listen and elaborate. Great class to take-as a freshman I think this is a great representation of college. PS Dr. Daniels is so hot he should go on Stephen Colbert

He really is a great teacher but you have to do your work and stay on the ball in order to do well in his class. It is a challenging course but he has a lot of office hours to help students.

Dr. Danielson can be quite the character! This class honestly changed my life. The challenge to think differently proved to be a journey that required willingness. Readings, Assignments, Office Discussion, 3 Essays, Notebook Project, & Movie Nights (Extra Credits) is the sum of the work. I am forever changed & so grateful. Highly recommended!

A year after taking his class, I have since appreciated life more than ever. He changed my life in ways that I never imagined... His class was very therapeutic and his presence extremely consoling. He is most definitely a rare soul and nobody should miss the chance to come in contact with him.

Danielson is the one of the best professors at CSM, and the best professor that I have ever had. I don't think any professor that I'll ever take will ever top him. He's, straight up, an enlightened human being, and he'll make you realize things about "your" "self" and "your" place in the world that you may have never realized. Take Phil 100.

There are a lot of papers during the semester that all run about 1 to 2 pages. You watch a lot of movies of the discussion of various types of religion and you do a lot of class discussion. He is always there to help during office hours even if it's just for advice. 100% recommend!

He is a great professor, says things how they are and will help you understand anything you don't understand. You will need to make sure you work hard in the papers, he is a tough grader which is good. Make sure you aren't on your phone or slam the door, he will call you out on it.

I really enjoyed this class although philosophy isn't my thing. His class and lectures were very eye opening and understandable. Test questions weren't easy but do your reading and research ahead of time and you'll do just fine.

He really made the class interesting. He has very high expectations for exam papers, but if you take good notes and read, you'll do great. Sadly, the textbook is rough (just very dull to read for the most part). I also recommend going to Philosophy Movie Nights for extra credit!

I loved taking this class, especially with Danielson. In fact, after taking this course with him, I decided to change my major to Phil and Religious Studies. Hard grader but definitely worth taking.

Class was great, other than the fact that I had it at 8 AM. He teaches the subject in a way that makes it interesting, has a good sense of humor, and is understanding. His lectures were eye-opening and gives you a new perspective on things. Will call you out if you are on your phone and will make you bring donuts for the class if you are caught

If you know how to write a solid essay this class is an easy A. Good feedback on essays. Willing to extend deadlines and lend an extra hand, but can be very pretentious. Simple grading system with at least 50 pts extra credit offered every semester. Class is ALL LECTURES based off readings. Boring, but his commentary makes it bearable.

What an inspiration! Took his class a few years ago and am not sure he knew how much he helped me and probably many students. His class is interesting and you can use the lectures to make sense of yourself in this world. Would highly recommend this class

I think that this is a great class for college students to take, so they can open their eyes to the world.

He's not your ordinary cat, and he thinks very highly about himself. His tests are all essays on the reading material, so read a lot, and he's very picky. His lectures are okay, and you have to be very specific when asking questions, he is a Philosophy teacher overall. He does care about hos students, and wants to help you do well.

Danielson was a great teacher. He made philosophy class at 9am super interesting. However, if you don't care about school you will fail. His class is like a real 4yr university class. If you don't try he won't care to help you, but if you put in the effort he will work with you. Plus he is hilarious and sarcastic, which is a plus in my book.

Lectures everyday, but he makes them interesting and funny. He tries to connect the readings to current events. The exams are essays, and you have to truly understand the readings. He's a tough grader, but gives good feedback on what to improve. Fortunately, he gives a good amount of extra credit.

I took Professor Danielson in the 1990s - no crap. Now in my 11th year of teaching at a local university, &amp; I still reference some of his lectures in the classes I teach today. I'll always appreciate the value of a minute, and I'll never forget when he walked out of the classroom to make the point. Still Mindwalking and dining with Andre . Cheers!

This class was difficult. I was taking english 105 at the same time and I had to do a lot more writing in this class than english. Danielson is a super hard grader so you are going to need to try your absolute best. The reading is mandatory and extremely difficult to get through but all in all if you pass/get a good grade you will be proud.

Take Danielson if you want to learn. It's not an easy A class, and you do have to work pretty hard, but SO worth it. A lot of essay writing, but he gives great feedback so you improve over the semester. Clearly loves what he teaches, and is overall a cool guy. As long as you participate enough in class and do the reading, you're set. Life changing!

Daniel Danielson is one of those professors that will change your life. His philosophy class is not just a class, but a journey to self-discovery. He will forever remain in my heart.

Professor Danielson really wants to help you pass the class. His lectures are not too heavy or difficult, and the essay assignments are manageable. He is accessible outside of class if you ever want to ask him questions. It was always fun to go to his class, you can tell he's very passionate about philosophy! I'd 100% recommend him :)
