I learned a lot from this class. Pay attention to the lectures. Quizzes are easy . . . just show up for class. The research paper is a pain.
i had him for rtv 3000 and mmc 3200. he was boring but def knows his stuff. he gives you study guide before the test that is basically the test. just study that and you will get an A or B
He really knows his stuff, and you can tell he loves his subject. He really truly cares about his students and wants to see them do well, which is why he provides a study guide for every test and if you follow it, you will do well. He takes attendance and you can miss only 2 classes without it affecting your grade. Only 4 tests and thats it.
He's extremely hot...mmm...As long as you take good notes and read the book you'll get an A. He doesn't do research papers anymore and his quizzes are you signing your name on the attendance sheet. He's very helpful and knows his information. He keeps the class fun by going off topic and having in-class discussions about politics and sports.
Professor Deeley is very easy going, but almost too much so. He gets off track a lot and just rambles. Pretty boring at times. Attendance is mandatory, book is an easy read.
Deeley is great, definitely worth the time. I took him for 2 classes for fun, I am not even a broadcasting major. He really is a nice guy.
Deeley is the greatest. his t.v. production class is so fun. he is witty and will definitely make you laugh. he relates to his students very well. Deeley speaks very naturally and openly about the broadcast field, which is a great for students to hear.
Real good class. He knows a lot about the subject. Just go to class and pay attention and you should get a B.
He is a good guy
Fun class. Not too much work involved: Two exams and three video projects. Deeley is a good guy with very interesting stories, but is easy to get off track. You will learn a good amount about the world of news production with him. Grades fairly and offers a lot of feedback on how to improve.
Lectures have no direction. He just asks the class a question somewhat related to the topic and we answer... little no feedback given on response. A lot of discussion, but NONE of it appears on the exams. He exams STRAIGHT from the book ONLY. Class is pointless but he takes roll so you have to go. Positive: his study guides ARE the exam!!
DEELEY IS AWESOME!
Great class learned alot. And Deeley is super sexy.
3 exams and a paper. Great professor. Does seem to go on tangents a lot if u mention sports. BE SURE TO READ THE CHAPTERS and you'll make an A. Tests are not hard if you just read. He even tells you what to read in each chapter. paper was only 4-6 pages on a topic of your choice. Interesting class when the class participates in lecture. easy going.
Three video packages, one analysis presentation (easy), and three minor quizzes. He gives you a study guide for quizzes. Go to him for help with edited pieces, he is more than happy to help.
His lectures are literally so boring but the class is so easy. Attendance is mandatory. Everything on the test is directly off the study guide. The paper at the end of the course is really confusing because he never really explained what he wanted from it. Overall, easy class and good professor
If you're not interested in going into the news field, don't take this course. It won't really teach you anything (unless you've never touched an editing program). Deeley is an awesome guy and knows a lot about the industry, but if you want to learn how to make documentaries or short films, definitely spend your time in another classroom.
If you have to take the class, take Deeley! He is very straightforward! You have three big tests. No homework. No quizzes. He gives study guides for each test. There are two written assignments toward the end, but they're worth 5% each. Nothing big. Class is mandatory (2 free misses).
I loved his class, I would definetly take it again. He gives only 3 tests, and rest is only discussions and blogs.
Took his class online. Required to multiple chapters for exams. Chapters are filled with so much info and he only gives 30 mins to answer 20 questions without narrowing down what will be on them (except for the 1st exam). Good luck with that. Everything else was pretty much straight forward.
Be prepared to read and write a lot! The assignments require a lot of thought and you can not do them without reading the section and relating back to the book in your writing assignments. Deeley wasn't the best at reaponding to emails, and a few assignments weren't explained. I got an a but I busted my ass for it
This course wasn't my favorite but as long as you do all the work, you'll most likely end up with a A or B. He switches off every other week from blog posts to discussion posts. The discussions are easy. The blogs are what confused me because he doesn't grade them till the end so who knows if you even did them right. Get ready to read, 2 books.
If you do the work you will get a 100 on the assignments, he doesn't really care. But he wont log on to blackboard for weeks at a time so you wont know your grade on stuff so that can kind of suck. Tests are on quizlet mostly.
I took this class online and it was pretty easy. I recommend you NOT take the in class version unless you want to be a lawyer or something. Just do the assignments on time, ready the chapters and you're good to go.
I took him for both Storytellings. If you love broadcast style media or sports he is the man for you! If not... it kind of sucks. He can be really helpful and is good at what he does, but he isn't always clear and has a temper. Advanced Storytelling is groups so beware. Learn how to do things in Storytelling so you don't flounder later.
This has been the easiest class that I have taken! As long as you do the assignments (usually 2 a week) you'll walk away with an A!
He gives you textbook online so we didn't have to buy it. Tests are worth most points, all in the book. Easy pass if you read the online text and take notes.
Very easy online, discussions make up most of your grade. 3 exams that were pretty easy.
Deeley ignores emails, hasn't updated his class since Blackboard days (over two years ago now), and put precisely zero effort into teaching this online class. I didn't even open the shipping package for my textbook and I got an A. 50% of your grade is discussion posts. Avoid him. Take it with Thornton, he isn't as tough as his syllabus seems
Grades everything super late and not good at responding fast. But he is easy grader and the class is not difficult. Discussion posts basically is all you do, then article summaries, then a few exams.
He is a very easy grader, just follow the rubric. You got free range of whatever topic you wanted. He was understanding when I said I was overloaded with other classes and let me make up late assignments for no penalty. This class is fairly easy. takes a bit to grade things but you didn't have to get a book and barely studied. watched a few videos
Deeley's class has made me reconsider continuing at UNF. He will articles on canvas with no sign of importance and when you ask what he is referring to in class he gets mad for "not reading them"I work 40hrs a week so I don't have time. No clear direction on assignments and riffs in class like he's on a news podcast. I learned nothing in his class
Students have to teach themselves everything. No help or direction and very unorganized. Expects students to come to class, but ends up not speaking about the material and just rambling about irrelevant topics. Complete waste of time.
Overall a very good professor. The tests can be a bit challenging, but not terrible. Stay on top of the short papers frequently due and you will be fine. The grading scale is fairly evenly split between assignments.
David was awesome at teaching Law and & Ethics of Communication! Exams are "low stocked" and most of the grade is from the discussion boards. Post on Friday and Comment by Sunday (2) Pick articles that are relevant to the current module! Introductions and Student Orientation Quiz. DON'T JUST WATCH THE VIDEOS - READ ALL THE CONTENT! PLEASE! GL! :)
David provides directions for choosing articles (mod), but may not answer emails quickly (meh), so it is best to go to his office hours. (Take Advantage of them) READ READ READ!!!! Three exams! It shouldn't be hard to pass! Just do your best and don't overthink and be confident! - Good luck everyone! :)
Professor Deeley is an okay teacher, but he doesn't respond quickly and the course requires three exams, 4 articles, and 5 discussion boards to pass. - 450 words for DB and 400 for the article assignment. (Took his class online) Good luck everyone!!!! Communication Majors...
