Expects us to be smarter than we really are
Interesting lecturer. Good class notes. Lots of work but fun!
Great teacher. Goes through slides really quickly but if you take the time to go through them yourself, you'll find tons of info. Very funny too :)
A pretty tough prof.
VERY VERY EASY. No work involved whatsoever. For all you engineers taking this course, it will be a joke compared to our usual stuff. For the people who think it is hard, they are just stupid. You don't have to go to the lectures, just read the notes right before the midterm and you'll be fine.
past-paced, HIGHLY engaging, works you hard!!!! good perspectives and insights though!!!
Is it just me or is he an Alec Baldwin look-alike?! Very funny but expects you to work hard and know the material ahead of time. Also expects you to know things you might not know if not in a business program. Flies through lectures but there is a TON of reading and the exam is extremely hard.
Meh, He dosen't want to help you very much. I asked to see my exam 3 times and he avoided me. I should have gone to the dean.
Too many long boring pointless films. You only need to go to about 30% of the classes. He wasnt too clear on the second assignment either.
His class is extremely boring.Although he may act like he really cares and is helpful, he's not.I went to his office a bunch of times and each time it was like he had better things to do and that he just wanted students to get the hell out of his office.CLASS IS EXTREMEMLY BORING and you might as well just read your slide notes, it's all you need
knows what he's talking about but goes very fast. he makes the material seem more complicated than it is. reading the lectures before you go to class is helpful otherwise i found it hard to concentrate. SUPER boring class and material. labs are way more helpful...
Prof. Delacorde is a very entertaining speaker. He explains topics well, albeit very quickly. A lot of details in the course slides are either self evident or unimportant. I admit that I haven't seen him in office hours, so I cannot say if other comments here about him not being interested in helping students are valid.
Great prof. Makes it interesting, and the video at the start of class makes for a good beginning that sets an easygoing but informative mood. One of the best I've had.
There are way too many readings in this class, especially for an introductory course. Delcorde does not explain things well and doesn’t seem to care if students don’t understand something. Also, I found him to be very ARROGANT and cocky.....I really did not enjoy his teaching style or his personality.
Good Prof. Adequately prepares students for midterms and the exam. There were many readings though only some of them were absolutely essential to the course. Overall, it was an interesting class if you're interested in the social aspects of business. If you take the course only because it's mandatory, then you will not do well.
Good prof. Knows his stuff and knows how to keep a class entertained even if the class is 3 hours long. Study hard to do well in exams tho.
I took ADM 1100 and 1101 with him. Start your case study as soon as possible, and put a lot of effort in. Exams are straight forward. No need to buy the text really, his slides cover most things, but if you have the text, just cross reference with it. Not bad, uses some videos. Pretty generic and average
He is a great professor and he conveys his material well through numerous interesting methods.
very hard exams.
Midterms and exams were not hard- if you have ever taken accounting before the last few weeks will be a breeze. Classes were interesting but one could still skip them and do well. Case Study was hard! part of problem was trying to understand just what prof wanted
This isn't a hard class, he's just an ass. He thinks he's smarter than everyone. Know the text book and slides, bull shi* also required to do well. Hope he's not married.
He is terrible!! doesnt listen to students' opinion and should not be teaching in this institution.Lastly, he is such an arrogant person....need to be re-trained about how to deal with people
THE ABSOLUTE WORST prof i've ever had. very arrogant. i couldn't stand watching the guy talk. class content is easy but exams are very confusing. he makes a simple theory difficult. AVOID THIS PROF
Enjoyable to listen to despite dry subject matter!
He is the worst prof i ever had and I would never enter a class with him again. He failed my assignment just because i did not sign the attestation sheet (which he told me i could sign at the exam) He also e-mailed the students the day of the assignment saying a - 20% was taken off for assignments not handed in at the beg. of class. WORSTPROFFEVER
Excellent Prof. Very easy going. Dont even bother opening the book. Just read his slides. Attent his classes and listen when he says, "This slide is important..loaded slide.. good for MCQs". Thats it A+.
DGD's were easy. Assignment marked fairly. Final was very tough; not clear on what he's going to test you on, though he does drop really subtle hints if you go to all the lectures. Good story teller, guest speakers, movies, funny guy. Let us have Halloween class off.
Very hard marker. Entire class failed the midterm (class of 200), and he insisted it was the class' fault, not his. However, he ended up bell curving it over 30%... Decent lecturer, uses lots of different methods for presenting subject matter.
Keeps you interested.
A decent lecturer, but a rather horrible person to deal with. Has his TAs mark everything which is fine but then refuses to look at things himself if requested, can be very condescending when approached. Took what should have been an easy class and made it once of my hardest. Avoid him if possible.
Nice guy, bad teacher, he marks unfairly in the midterm and over fairly in the final... I just don?t get it o_0
WORST TEACHER EVER avoid this individual he is by far the most idiotic human being i've ever met. his exams are basically random you do not know what to study, anything can be on the exam. this guy cannot teach he is 100 percent pathetic
please choose better TA's
A professor with no character whatsoever. His inability to profess made it difficult to understand his lecture. The professor, along with other University of Ottawa professors enjoy being biased towards politics rather than business and economics. Their arguments tend to be very non-business, especially with Delcorde.
Good and interesting lectures but don't bother going. He wants you to "think for yourself" but his way of thinking (pro government). He will confuse you with all the things he says because his exams are not related to 90% of what he talks about in class. Better stay home and study the book.
His tests are easy but exams are incredibly difficult. Doesn't hold regular office hours: only by appointment. Tends to mumble things and left me wondering if the mic was on. He needs to take a class on enunciation. He's condescending and patronizing. Enter at own risk...
Very easy quizzes worth 30% of your mark (I averaged a 98% on the 2 of them). But the midterm and final were very difficult and are weighted much more then the quizzes. You must memorize the slides, and reading the book is useless (Just do the specific sections he asks you, not the ones on the course outline).
Doesn't do a very good job at preparing you for the final at all. I had a 80+ in the course (got a 97 on one of the midterms) then managed to almost fail the final. When I asked him about my mark he was extremely condescending and rude about it. Avoid at all costs.
Professor knows what he is talking about and is interesting enough in a 3h lecture to make it not torture to attend. His midterms and final is fair, he tells you what you need to know. When he says to watch the videos he is not joking you will have a few questions on the exam about them.
His class is probably the only one I didn't skip atleast once during first year. His lectures are interesting. Videos are VERY important, there will be questions about them on the final so pay attention and take notes. Follow what he says to study for tests/midterm because he basically tells you exactly what will be on the them. Textbook=useless
The first prof. I've ever had that has said I am selling myself to keep you in your seat. He does just that, and is knowledgeable on business and conveys it well. Take notes and don't miss class, even pick a note buddy, and don't miss the videos.
Knows the subject, follows the book step by step. Deliver his knowledge but does not motivate students.
Good Professor, knows the stuff he is talking about. VERY OBSESSED with the videos he shows in class and uses them in exams so DONT MISS THEM!! the DGD is heavy workload but overall the class isn't that hard and the professor makes the lectures interesting. Mandatory attendance for DGD or you fail.
Really helpful and understanding. material has the tendency to be challenging, however he will help whenever it is possible.
Great Prof, loved him
I found this class very dreadful since he read exactly what the slide said (very long explanations that he directly quotes from websites and books). His textbook is so boring but thankfully not needed much in the course.
Good prof, reading the textbook is useless. His midterm was really easy, however the finale was quite difficult in comparison. Make sure you pay attention to the videos in class as this is a huugge part of the midterm! Overall, he is a decent prof.
He is a decent prof, and his lectures are good. Make sure you take notes on the videos he shows in class, it will be on your midterm and your finals. His midterm will be easy if you study; however, his final was hard.
His slides have a million words on them and he adds very little value except examples (keep your ears peeled for those). the questions in the book are good study material but don't bother reading the book beyond getting the answers to the chapter questions.
His classes are boring, I found it hard to pay attention, the only reason I went to the lectures were for the videos, because all his material was on the slides and in the book. Some multiple choice on the midterm and final were from the book because he wrote the textbook. Class isn't interesting but apparently he's easier than other profs
The class seams easy but the project is marked harshly and the final exam requires alot of knowledge of the general material as well as obscure material. Don't both reading the textbook but take the time to fully understand and memorize the slides!!
At first I thought he was a great teacher, but as the project and exam came around my thoughts changed. Was not helpful to answer questions outside of class, and wouldn't even take the time to remark my project. Exam was confusing as well
Great professor, he is clear on the material. All his exams are based on the lecture slides. Best thing to do is study and memorize the lecture slides and you'll be golden. If you understand the simple concepts from day 1 it'll be easy to get a decent mark in the class.
bad prof
Midterm is easy and fair but finals aren't well organized, and hard!!!! Overall, a good professor!
He is a good and well organized lecturer so I liked him at first. However, I quickly changed my mind. Unapproachable in person, dry e-mail replies, loaded slides and very hard final. The final exam was inconsistent with what he taught so it didn't really matter how much you studied for it. Avoid.
Reads his over worded powerpoint slides during lectures without explaining anything.
decent prof
Great prof who comes to class prepared and full of enthusiasm. offers great insight towards tests and assignments. Midterm was very fair. however the final was quite tough even after memorizing the powerpoint slides.
I had him for ADM1300 and ADM1301, he is a great prof. VERY fair and clear. Cracks a lot of jokes and always kept everyone interested. Compared to Archibald, He is definitely the better choice. Archibald gives VERY unfair exams and midterms...Delcorde doesn't.
very friendly person, course requires a lot of reading since exams r based on text. ignore slides, expect for guest lectures
Good Prof. Tests were fair and straight forward.
Guest lectures are important. It's better to know the textbook that he wrote down pat than the slides.
His notes are the only things you need to study off of. Don't bother reading the textbook. He's easy to understand and listen to. I had him for ADM1300 and ADM1301 and really liked him.
Super easy class, all those who said he is hard are crazy! On his midterm, if you studied what he said, you will get an A. He is a humorousfunny person. I went into his class thinking that he would be terrible from the reviews I read but when I had him, he was my favourite professor of the semester! His final was very reasonable if you studied!
He reads off his slides basically, but he kept me awake for three hour lectures from 7-10 so something should be said about that. He seems like a nice guy who cares about his students. Not too many tests or assignments.
He's a really nice person and a good prof, however he makes you watch way too many videos and expects you to know them for the midterm and the final, they are so boring, and his midterms are all short answers questions so get ready to write!! He is however a fair marker, I found he tried to give you markers wherever he could.
Lectures can be a little dull but he definitely knows what he is talking about.
I would never want to put down any prof, but this class (ADM1301) was horrible. I word for word explained what he wanted in his answer, but its his way or the highway. Don't bother approaching him to ask about your exam, because he will make your good answers look stupid. Such let down considering I actually did like the content, not the prof.
He is a good professor, good at trying to keep you involved and attentive but still the material is dull. He knows what he is talking about and is one of my more interesting profs in first year courses. Make sure to get the book, he wrote it. Content isn't all that hard, just know the theories and you're good to go
I fell in love with David Delcorde after the midterm. im a straight guy. A+ in the mid. intensity of love increased proportionally. Came the final exam on 17. Delcorde destroyed all students and goodwill by creating an exam that defied all conventionalism. i have never taken an exam as tough as this. His multiple choice 50 were ALIEN. I hate you.
I couldn't believe the final exam was actually a final. Multiple choice questions were based on 3 page long case studies. Were confusing as hell. It seemed more of a critical thinking class as I scrolled through the multiple choices. His short answer Q's were as tough. I knew most of the things but it didn't matter the way he set the exam. TOUGH
This is the worst prof in my first year. As a international student, he speaks so fast that sometimes you cannot understand him. He just reads the slides. Sometimes, you feel hard to involve in his discussion. Some students speak not loudly enough but he will not repeat his or her answers! His mid-term is easy but! !the final is really tough!!
You need to study hard
Study everything! Text-book (very dry), lectures notes! Go to your class and make notes & listen to what he says because a lot of time the most useful stuff & hints about the tests are not on the lectures notes! He talks fast but a lot of useful information so listen carefully! Interesting lectures & good speaker but beware of the exam!!
Delcorde is amazing and funny! You will never find such an inspirational professor anywhere in telfer. I got an A- in his course but that was because of my group. The only negative thing is that he auto generates teams for courses. Other than that he has always been clear, responded to all emails and genuinely cares.
Delcorde is a very funny and witty professor. He does not care about what his reviews are on ratemyprofs because he genuinely loves teaching. His expectations are very clear. Read the book and slides and if you get anything less than an A then you're not meant to be in telfer. This is my personal opinion :)
Very clear teacher. Everything was great until the extremely long and difficult final came around.
He taught us for undergrad in 2008. I had him again for masters. He is a very nice person. for adm 1301, you have to memorize the book. the course was easy. as far as I remember, our class did very poorly on the midterm. so he bell curved. and made the final very easy.
Just got done with final. He makes these weird computer generated groups that you get stuck with. You lose major points on group work because you cant choose your own team. His final exam was terrible. His exams do not reflect the b.s he covers in class. If you take this course with a part-timer you WILL get an A. With delcorde forget A's.
This class wasn't enjoyable, but you can tell Delcorde truly loves teaching. He encourages discussion. Prof speaks & goes through slides quickly - may be hard if you're international. He shows long, boring videos that weren't interesting and they were tested on. Group project was fine, but graded tough. Midterm was easy, exam was almost impossible.
AMAZING PROF! He tries to make the class interesting. He is funny and keeps you engaged in the class. He likes to have a lot of participation in class, so try to participate as much as you can. He is a tough marker but its worth it, since you will actually enjoy going to class and paying attention. Except for the videos he makes you watch..
He is beyond exceptional. Always replies to e-mails and any queries you may have. He is also actively involved in the course and knows all the material very well. His expectations are very clear and provides help when needed. Intellectually stimulating prof. He's the best for all the courses he teaches. By : Syed
He seems so high and mighty. Beware if you're a girl in his class, you can tell when anyone he hates it when anyone other than a white male in a suit speaks up. He makes you buy a textbook code just to take online quizzes (bad website too) when he could offer it for free on Blackboard. Group project has 11 members each and expects it to work.
Quite tough grader, but he is very fair and objective. His expectations are VERY clear . You really have to earn your grade in the class, so be prepared to work hard. But honestly, would love to take any of his classes again; one of the best professors I have ever had so far.
Sarcastic but nice and knows what he is talking about
Was an amazing prof. Very easy marker too. We had a midterm, an online quiz and a couple of online homework and finally a midterm. His lecture was the only class I looked forward to the entire semester.
Although this prof thinks he's better than everyone else, and called me 'sir' twice even though I'm clearly a girl, the class was super simple. Group project was easy to do well on, so was the individual one. Make sure to study the textbook, lectures are based on it. Online participation was a joke.
I had him for marketing and really liked this guy. Clear concise and to the point. The class was actually easy too. I honestly don't know why his ratings are low. I usually rate profs poorly too... Highly recommend.
He is a very respected prof at Telfer. However, the midterm was very difficult. I think his TAs are very tough markers. Sometimes he reads from the slides and sometimes he has his own personal examples which are fun! Videos can by very very dry. Brought in cool guest speakers. If you listen he gives hints for the exam which were very helpful!!
Funny guy. Always has an example ready to go for any question asked. Final was tough, but the midterm was a breeze.
This is my third and best class with Prof Delcorde. His midterm was very straight forward as he gives you an outline of what will be on it. Multiple group projects, lots of videos from Films on Demand. Slightly condescending, but you get past it.
Easy midterm, will give you good grades on group projects if they are well done and you prepared for the presentations, hard/unfair final. I was prepared, and he went in precise details for some questions, and we had a lot of material to cover which is why I though it was unfair. He is a great teacher and has a good teaching style.
All around amazing prof! Professor Delcorde makes time fly by in class with interactive discussion that actually reflects the course content. Although his final project was somewhat heavy, it is an accurate representation of what was covered in class and helps you understand the material even more. Bonus: he's funny!
Great prof, study exactly what he says to study and you will do well. Always read the textbook and preread his lecture notes and you should do well.
Lectures were pretty interesting but straight from the textbook. He tests on the videos shown in class and some test questions were very specific to frameworks in the textbook. If you do the readings and go to most lectures you can easily do well in the class.
Go to class and he will give you any necessary tools to do well on the midterm and final. Textbook was very useful for discussion group projects, individual assignment and for studying. Great lecturer, and brings in many successful business persons as guest speakers to talk to class throughout semester.
Amazing guy, amazing professor. An outstanding lecturer and super easy going; other than Delcorde, who's going to play AC/DC in class? Exam review is extremely well detailed and accurate. His exams are hefty, but by studying the textbook and lecture slides you'll do fine. Although beware of the Australian business videos; they will be on the exam.
The final was completely unfair, tested us on concepts we didn't even learn.
Decent prof. Unlike other people here who I suppose just didn't study, there were no surprises on the exam. There's just soooo much content that it gets very hard to study everything. He's not a very compelling prof to listen to, since the content isn't exactly riveting and there is very little class participation, but I've had worse professors.
Delcorde was an amazing speaker, you can tell he is passionate about what he teaches. His lectures are great and he posts almost everything online. his midterm was easy and final was fair. Overall great Prof.
Pretty good professor. Good mix of comedy and teaching, as well as posts all resources online. He can be really annoying to contact outside of class as he won't help even if you missed for a legitimate reason, and told us there were 10 hours of video on the exam, which only ended up being worth 3-4%.
His lectures are interesting and he's pretty funny. The DGDs are kinda annoying and the TAs are really picky. The midterm exam was a breeze but the final exam was really difficult. Beware of the videos because there were 2 pages of multiple choice questions that were based on them. The individual assignment was time-consuming as well.
Great and passionate professor. Truly believes in what he's teaching. His class is fair game, he doesn't throw curveballs. The course content is heavy and specific. A lot of memorization in the class. Videos are important. Midterm was super easy, but the final was tough. The assignment was long but graded fairly.
David was a great prof from start to finish. The midterm had no surprises; the individual assignment is a bit rough, but when done well can bump your mark up. The final was fair and wasn't long. What other prof will start the year off with an ACDC concert clip? Highly recommend if you have the chance.
Professor Delcorde is funny. He is a good prof but I cannot stand the weekly group reports that worths 2% as well as the final group report. I spent at least 2 hours writing reports for this class every week and it doesnt even look like he read the assignments in detail. Other than that, he is a good prof, and gave the class pizza.
Professor Delcorde is very knowledgable, but he skips through slides way too fast. He is a nice guy, his exams were fair. Beware for the multiple-choice on the midterm as most people nearly failed that part. The book is extremely important, especially for the midterm as the mc comes from the book. The final was pretty straightforward.
Delcorde knows what he's talking about and is good at explaining the topics. Slides were well done. 100% get the textbook and actually read it, he uses a lot of information from it on exams. He is a very easy marker if you use the key words and resources from the textbook.
Only 1 group case study/presentation worth like 40% and he gives you the whole school sem. from what I remember. Doesn't really answer your question and is a bit cocky. If you pay attention to the course or just read the textbook (basically the same) then you'll be fine. He sometimes calls random people to participate or answer a question.
