Doorn is the man. Might be a little confusing to understand in some of the lectures, but the material is just confusing period. Could get boring at times Test are fair, and he grades very easy, not to mention he gives a lot of extra credit. Gives you plenty of homework/notes to prepare you for test. Plus you use excel his class. Recommend

Laid back. Easy grader. (even though he claims he's not). Test are worded a little funky. You definitely need to know the terminology and there's probably going to be words on the test you don't know, but you use computers in class during test, and the class is taught using excel which is a breeze.

When I say easy, I don't mean "easy". I mean it in the sense of he's a fair grader for this hard material. Online portions of test can seem pretty ridiculous but he gives you a 2nd chance if you convince him. Very helpful in office hours. Gives a lot of extra credit. You really need to take advantage of his office hours.

Such a fair grader. So much extra credit. Test are a little insane but he curves them and gives multiple extra credit opportunities. There's no way you shouldn't be able to get at least a b in this class.

Dr. Doorn is one of the best professors I have ever had. Simply put, if you pay attention, engage him and work to understand the material you'll succeed. His goal is to make his class teach what businesses need in terms of statistics/analytics and will go out of his way to ensure your understanding. Amazing prof!

Doorn is amazing!!! however, the class/subject is hard for most students. You must do ALL hw and form study groups w/ other students to get a good grade.

Boring, but gets the point across pretty well. Very nice guy. Easy to approach. Person below me must of slept in class or sat on their phone the entire time and came to this site as a scapegoat. Blame yourself.

Best prof I've had at WCU, and I'm a graduating senior. I learned more in the classes I had with Dr. D than from any other. You have to work harder in his classes, but it does help you learn, not like other professors who just let you skate by.

Those had great coverage and let you pause and rewind! I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. The videos were a great way to teach the class!

Dr. Doorn is excellent! His videos go through the material thoroughly and he works through examples step by step so they are easy to follow. He also responds to posted questions pretty quickly with really good answers. This is by far the best and most useful course I have had for the MBA. I am already using some of the techniques in my job.

I took this over the summer, so it was mostly online. Dorn was way better than the prof I had the first time I took it and got a C-. Big focus on Excel, but he provides templates that make it easy. Good videos that walk through everything and you can skip the boring parts. Good class and I am already using the Excel stuff this semester again!

Just had 1st exam and did great! It had the same calculations we did in class and for homework, so was easy to study. I love this class. Doorn is really good and knows a lot about the economy. He brings in data that just came out and talks about pretty often. Cool stuff! Useful notes he puts together too. I don't know why anyone complains.

Great class in forecasting. Very useful for me at work. I am already using some of what was gone over. The prof was very good and really knows stats. Responds well to questions and gives nice answers that help a lot. Kind of slow grading things but posts great keys so not a big deal really.

Tough course for the MBA curriculum, but his lectures made it much easier to understand all of the textbook material. If you watched the lectures and did your homework, then the quizzes and projects were able to be completed. They weren't easy by any means, but his lectures were immense help. Will be extremely useful at my job. Best class yet.

Good professor and good class. Sometimes goes on tangents, but are usually interesting and related to the economy. Shows lots of graphs of real data on the economy. I went to office hours and we chatted for more than a half hour about lots of things.

Fairly easy class. A lot of first year students who don't know how to study and fail. Terribly boring voice, but he's a good guy. Gives a good review and is a fair grader. Non-major and will pass with almost 100%. Probably not a class or a subject I'll remember looking back.

Really good class! I just took the final and it was just like his other exams, which covered exactly what he went over in class and homeworks. I aced the other two exams and I am pretty sure this one too. Not the most exciting lecturer, but he really knows the material and easily answers questions. Brings up things in the news that relate to topics

What a bunch of complainers! Probably those that never came to class, which was like a third. This was the best class I had this semester. If you pay attention and listen to what he says, you will learn a lot. The prof relates everything to what is happening in the news and even talks about CPI and other data in the news. Now I understand!

I liked this class. Not very exciting, but the prof knows alot about the economy and brings up news stories about it too. Iwent to office hours and he was more relaxed than he seems in class. Veyr helpful and good to talk to. I hope I get him for stats next year. I heard he is the best at that.

Great class and best professor I have had so far at WCU! He talked about the latest economic news almost every class and posted government statistics on D2L when they came out. Nice to know what they are talking about in the news now!!

Too bad no one hardly ever asks questions. He gives good answers when it does happen though. Good class and good guy.

I liked this class. If you listen carefully you get a lot of good information from this professor. He talks about real economic issues in the news and posts important data releases, like CPI, GDP and unemployment. Much of the class didn't seem to be paying attention a lot of the time.

Doorn asked for questions all the time and no one ever asked any or answered his. There were no pop tests or anything like that. Exams were given exactly as laid out on the syllabus.

Good class. Dr. D explains thins well and always answers questions easily. Really gets across how class stuff links to the real world. Always posts news on unemploymentm, GDP and other stuff and talks about it in class. I learned a lot.

Best MBA course I have had, although probably the hardest. The material was difficult, but Dr. Doorn's video lectures worked through it slowly and methodically. That made it much easier to learn than how the textbook put it together. I appreciate his quick responses to questions posted to the discussion room for the class.

I had to repeat this class and Dorn is way better than the last professor I had. His explanations made sense and we got to use excel to do the calculations. I understand stats better and I got to learn Excel too. Good professor even though kind of boring to listen to.

Pretty good class. Better than most I had this semester. Pretty much all lecture, but what do you expect with 180 students. He did go to students with questions and made sure the whole class knew what was asked and gave good answers. I talked to him a few times after class and he was always friendly and hlpful. Nice guy.

Kind of a tough subject, but I liked the class. DrD helped a lot. Too bad he isn't teaching the next stats class in spring.

This is the second class I have taken with Prof. Doorn and I think he's amazing. The content is hard but he does an excellent job of posting lots of videos that walk you through the concepts. Love the example reproductions, as it forces you to follow along with him and understand the material. Homework is hard but he grades fairly.

I enjoyed this class! Every week we would have a reading quiz and a homework assignment on specific chapters. If you read the material and used your notes on the assignments it was an easy A. His lectures on zoom were very boring but overall he was very nice and understanding. If you missed an assignment he would allow you to redo it no problem!

Dr.Doorn is hands-down my favorite professor at WCU. The weekly assignments were manageable, his lectures were both helpful and entertaining, and he even took the time to send me my homework assignments that needed corrections. I think his rating on this site is lower than it should be. If you have the chance, definitely take his classes!

Dr.Doorn is my favorite professor of all the MBA courses. He is fair, helpful, and entertaining. He grades much more graciously than any other professor I have had. If you put in the work, you will get the grade. I suspect much of these "negative" reviews are from lazy students in undergrad. If you have the chance, definitely opt for his course.

3rd time taking Dr D and he is awesome. Do not get me wrong, his lectures are very boring but he goes over the material clearly and as long as you watch them and complete the participation assignments you will easily get a good grade.
