Challenging prof. Amazing lecturer

Duke is very good at keeping your attention, not to mention that he is HOT!!!!!!

Duke is a fabulous prof. He may be tough and you may hate him some of the time, but trust me, his classes are definitely worth taking. He's fair and challenging and by far the best teacher I've had...although I do want to prove him wrong...just once...

I think Duke is an awesome prof! He's classes leave you wanting more! He's really into what he's teaching and that makes a huge difference. There's a lot of reading and he's a hard marker, but it's worth it in the end. I would definitely recommend him!

Duke is the best proff ever! He really makes you think and also entertains with his dry wit. He's a bit of a hard marker, but it's worth it. If you really want to take a course that you'll enjoy, his Environmental History class is amazing!

the whole comment about no extenstions is a lie,he has given extensions,and there have been valid reasons for them too.He could have easily given the majority of the class a F on the first part of the article analysis,gave us an extra day.others too.

The most brilliant person I've ever met. He expects alot from students, but that's what University is about! He actually makes me look forward to his lectures, and is an engaging speaker. DUKEY FOR PM!

Duke is not as bad as everyone says he is,he only acts like an ass so you do the work, why do people fail to realize that if you don't respect the prof, or bother to do the work, you're going to get****ty marks? At least it shows that the profs care.

Not the easiest professor, but he _really_ knows what he's talking about. His marking isn't hard, it's fair. Do your work and you'll do well in his class (he doesn't like slackers). But if you don't want to work, why bother to go to university anyways&#6

Duke's lectures are a preformance, not some boring guy standing at the front putting forward pointless facts that you don't care about. He makes the class interesting and enjoyable. He doesn't like slackers!

The best history prof at Acadia BY FAR! He is absolutely amazing. So engaging and interesting. A funny and approachable man... Can't wait to take Environ with him.... he's not hard on the eyes either ;)

Great prof. It does not matter if your a history major or not, you will enjoy this class. He is very interesting and a fair marker.

He craps on your work making u think it's dismal; yet to find u get an A-. He's not too hard ;just wants you to think he is.He's good prof but can be very moody. Likes to hear himself talk but that's because he's British. And please he is not hot by any means. Girls get real the guy that is hot teaches American history

No doubt that he is one of the best profs I've ever had. Don't expect an easy ride- he's a fairly hard marker and you need to work to gain his respect... but he's a great lecturer and actually makes going to class less of a strain. Huge respect for this man.

Duke is a god! I have the utmost respect for this Prof He challenges students, pushes them to work hard and think for themselves. His lectures were always interesting & informative. Wow, simply amazing. Duke really engages the class in his lectures, you don't even realize you are learning as he berates you. He plays well on his high opinion of himself and really uses it to enhance the class. Simply an amazing prof and one whose class is always full no matter what day it is.

Dr. Duke is probably the best prof I've ever had. He is an amazing teacher and knows his material extremely well. Having him for a prof made it wort getting up and going to his 8:30 classes.

WOW! I am in awe of his lectures! He is an incredible prof. and easily the best on campus! He has an amazing flare for teaching and is so enthusiastic. He take what should be boring toppics and brings them to life! He is Wonderful!

David is a good prof. He makes the class entertaining but if you are looking for an easy A with little effort this is not the class for you. Duke will make you work for it but it will be entertaining along the way. Engaging and 8:30's were not the death of me this semester because of this man.

Great prof! Marks fairly and makes class extremely interesting. 8:30's weren't so bad with Duke. Very understanding as well, if you have a problem with subject material or a grade, go see him!

Great professor, always tells the truth about your work, so you always get the grade you deserve, bad or good. He is very understanding but if you do your work and read the book it pays off. : )

Enjoyed the 8:30s and I am NOT a morning person. Worth getting up for. Funny and interesting, fairly straightforward. Uses good powerpoints but doesn't read straight off them. Makes it obvious what's important for the test without saying so straight out. Put in the work, do the reading, show up for class, and you'll do fine.

David Duke is a crystal clear professor, he lays things out in a specific manner and expects you to simply follow his instructions. As long as you do your readings and attend class regularly, you will do well in his classes.

Dr. Duke is one of the best professors I've ever had. I wasn't interested in the course before I took it, but he made me excited about going to class. He's a brilliant and FUNNY man who makes lectures a pleasure to listen to. If you work hard, he gets excited about your work, and cares about you as a person. And his English accent is gorgeous.

Best professor i've had to date. Such an amazing person, very knowledgeable and he makes sure that he speaks in a way that you understand it! Love his classes and im even taking a 3 hour night class next year because of him :)

FAVORITE PROF. Duke makes each student feel special & he truly cares about your success. So passionate & could make anything interesting. He's hilarious & very approachable. Just an all around amazing person (with a great accent too!). Take a class with him, you won't regret it. When I graduate, I'm going to miss him more than I care to admit.

FAV PROF EVER. I'm a business major but if I could major in Duke I would. He's an amazing lecturer, super intelligent and brings genuine opinions to the classroom. For an elective there is a fair amount of work involved but its interestng and he is a fair marker. TAKE ENVIRO HISTORY W. DUKE YOU WONT REGRET IT

Dr. Duke is one of the best profs I've had. You can tell just how much he loves teaching. He wants you to think and come to your own conclusions, not just recite back answers. His lectures are fun and super interesting and his grading criteria is super clear. He'll give you all the resources he can to help you succeed.

Easy to listen to and follow. Lectures are interesting and not too heavy. He does expect you to have the chapter read before class and will randomly call on students for answers. He cares a lot about how his students are doing and I found him to be quite funny.

Absolutely loved this class. Dr. Duke was extremely knowledgable on the subjects and also very interested in them. Only 8:30 class I'll willingly wake up for, will miss it next semester. Take his environmental history class!

Dr Duke was an amazing prof to have. I enjoyed every lecture I had with him, he makes the information easy to understand and he will entertain you along the way. He is highly knowledgeable in his field. The final group project was an amazing experience and I am very glad to have been a part of it. I would absolutely take any class that he teaches!!

He is a very caring prof and will go out of his way to make sure you pass as long as he sees some kind of effort. Very personable and easy midterms. We had one assignment for the entire semester that offered easy marks. Great prof.

I have never felt more supported by a professor. He is so helpful, funny, and kind. He helps create a community within the classroom in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable. I highly recommend anyone to take his classes. We were graded on about 5 assignments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. David Freeland Duke is literally one of the best professors I have had. He is caring, and will make time for you if you show you care about school. He is funny but can be tough if you take his course lightly. If you want an amazing classroom experience with a prof who will keep you entertained take a course taught by Dr. Duke!

Dr. Duke is by far the kindest professor I have ever met. I was in his HIST1003 class last year and enjoyed every moment. Despite not being in any of his classes, when I reached out to him while struggling he wrote me a 2 page email giving me advice and told me he knew I could do it.

Loved this course and Duke soooo much, definitely one of my top 3 favorite profs at Acadia. He truly wants to see all of his students succeed and always offers a helping hand and words of wisdom! He was an extremely fair marker and I can't wait to take another one of his courses.. I would HIGHLY recommend this class or ANY class with him!!

He is a stand-up Pro he is the head of the History department and he diverse it, such a nice guy if you ask him for help he will do all that he can. First years should go to him for advice all ways. Be it for class selection or just general questions on writing papers or the history department he will give you a direct and fair answer

Duke has been the biggest help I've had in my first semester at Acadia. His lectures are so engaging and informative, and he tells stories to keep you interested. He doesn't just read the presentations word for word. He even helped me throughout the process of writing a research paper for another course and is always there to answer any questions

Absolutely my favorite prof and class. Dr. Duke truly wants all his students to succeed and will do the most to help you with that in and outside of class. His lectures are riveting stories and not once did I find myself bored in his class. I HIGHLY recommend taking enviro. history even if you're not a history major, he makes it very accessible.
