D.Eaton is the best teacher ever. If you are at all intelligent take his class. Inbred muthas will diss him but take this class. He is experienced and knows what he is doing. One of the most interesting guys ever and will give you motivation to do something positive with your life. He expects you to do your work but this is college come on.
Strange dude....flutters eyes when lecturing, not always logical, throws up many facts that make you think Africans are either the poorest or the smartest people. Too much semi-hysteria and warnings about doomsday. be careful with him.
Dr. Eaton is an amazing teacher and really knows his stuff, but he is not very clear about what he wants on the 2 papers you have to write during the semester. His tests are easy, but the lectures can get a little confusing. He is very helpful, and he lets you know that he can help.
way too much reading and completly unclear on what he is trying to teach. This class placed me behind in all of my classes because every night he would give us about 30 pages of confusing and dry reading
His readings are time-consuming and confusing - and there are a lot of them. His tests are difficult and he expects a lot out of you - especially attendance!
If you do the reading, you will get smarter.
Tons of reading in this class. He expects you to keep up with it and calls on people in class. He also makes you do weekly online responses to the readings and grades you on them. It's a lot of work, but if you keep up with it you should get a decent grade. A bit eccentric.
Not goona lie, pretty big workload. Lots of reading. But i came out having learned so much, he is very passionate (albeit interesting...) about what he does and if you participate he will greatly appreciate you. He has many personal stories and pictures that he shares which make the class interesting.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. This guy makes his class seem like it's the most important thing in the world, but really most people just need it for GE. There was WAY too much reading! It was boring and hard to go and stay awake! I would recommend NEVER taking a class with this arrogant "know-it-all" guy. He will only frustrate you!!
David Eaton is so annoying. He can never keep his eyes open when he talks and he is all high and mighty and thinks he is better than everyone just because he has been to Africa. I have no idea what he talks about in class. The readings are retarted. You have to work really hard to get a good grade. I want to shoot myself in the face.
I actually had David as a prof a few years ago at Middlebury and he was the BEST professor I had in college. He is an odd-soul at times but he is brilliant, an amazing teacher, really passionate about his work, and you learn a ton about not just anthropology and africa but also about yourself as a human being. Highly recommend his classes.
David Eaton substituted for my very good professor Jesse Dizzard. In comparison, David Eaton is a huge jerk and is extremely egocentric. Dizzard really inspired all the students to learn and contribute, but Eaton just yelled at everyone for being stupid and for not having been to Africa. Take his class if you like it when people call you half-bake
Overall not a hard class if you just look at the difficulty of the material unfortunately there is FAR to much reading to be done in the class. Weekly Vista postings are a waste of time, would have preferred doing 1 to 2 more papers (only 3 papers due in the course right now and they can't be more then 1250 words so they aren't that hard).
I must agree, Eaton is a brilliant man. The passion conveyed in his lectures and accomplishments are quite inspiring. Some take offense to his seemingly condescending attitude, but you will find that he holds high expectations for his students and his class is more of a life experience than a course. Attending office hours are highly recommended!
Dr. Eaton is extremely intelligent and assigns dense reading and- wait for it- actually requires you to think! His classes are not for the dim-witted, lazy, or brain dead freshman. If you get the chance to talk to him one on one I highly recommend it- loads of interesting stories! He just may turn out to be the most helpful prof. you'll ever have!
Not for people who want an easy A. We are here to learn so this class is perfect!!!
WORST CLASS EVER. Attendance is mandatory and you have to read long/boring articles every week and post responses online about them. There is no way that you can pass this class without reading and it takes about 3 hours out of your life every week outside of class. Eaton is very intelligent but I would definitely NOT take this class.
He is a very strange guy, but also really nice. he always gives you good compliments. There is a lot of ready, boring material, but i never read once... and i got a b. he is a very fair grader, and the tests, and mid term are very easy.
He is a great proffesor, and a nice person. He is different though, and you can see it in his teaching. He brings a view that I have not seen before. Do the reading for sure, because otherwise it is pointless to even go to class. Also be open minded on some of the topics. If you take the time to think about what he says it makes perfect sense.
There is a LOT of reading require for this class, but it is impossible not to learn anything. A good way to get in his favor is to be honest, make eye contact and dont leave the class in the middle of lecture. His personality is a little difficult, and he is a perfectionist, but he is very flexible in assignments. No exams.
He gives way too much work. we have to read close to 100 pages of article each week. if u like reading this is definitely the class for u. he takes roll everyday so attendance is important! he's a very odd person... the things he does is just weird...
This instructor gives a good class, uses good materials, etc. He does require more work than is necessary, however. And unfortunately, he is horribly rude to most of his students and some other instructors. So while from an academic standpoint his classes are good, his demeanor is so awful that I would avoid him.
people say he can be rude but he just expects respect. if you give it to him and participate, he will love you. the class is not that hard. there are onlione postings once a week, a couple tests, and a few quizes.the whole class is based on what you read.
Awesome teacher. He knows alot about his subject and presents it using first hand accounts. He's traveled all over africa and talks about his travels. It kept me interested all semester
REALLY GREAT COURSE! Very interesting and passionate teacher!
Great teacher. Been around the world and back. If you dont understand him then its your fault because he is a very smart and caring individual. He will never forget your face and always be honest with you. Great class too.
This course was very interesting and Dr. Eaton is a wonderful teacher. Even though he has a demanding amount of write-ups and reading, you will come away from his class with a much greater understanding of the subject.(Dr. Eaton's class inspired me and my future class choices)
Mr. Eaton is not a good teacher. He rambles on about random anthropologists that have nothing to do with what we are learning. A LOT of readings and vista posts. Can't be late and takes attendance. He says there will be a Mid-Term but then never gives one. In my opinion he was extremely boring.
At first Eaton will seem pretty weird, and he kind of is, but I came to look forward to his class every week. He does require about 100+ pages a week of readings, sometimes rather dense. No tests or overly stressful assignments, just weekly postings and one 2000 word essay. Loved his lectures and stories, incredibly interesting guy.
Hated the class the first few weeks, his discussions on evolution and creation seemed off topic to me. But after that the lectures were very enjoyable. The guys lived in just about every country in Africa, he knows culture. He's intelligent, thoughtful, and inspirational. Be prepared for lots of reading and discussion, but no big tests.
Eaton although seems like a weird guy, knows his stuff about different cultures. The class I thought was kind of boring but there were no tests and the papers were pretty easy. Requires tons of reading but the vista posts are pretty easy.
Worst teacher ever... he is crazy and doesn't make any sense. He bad mouths all of America and says how we are basically the worst society ever. Long readings are incredibly boring however there are no tests and attendance is required.
Eaton is a great professor, although it takes a while to realize this. Just give him the respect he expects (and deserves), go to class, do the postings and you will be golden. Once you get past his quirks, the class is actually quite interesting and you will learn a lot.
Professor Eaton is different than most teachers, but is a very respectable person. He has so much experience in life, and although he can be intimidating sometimes he really does want the students to learn and be interested. A lot of reading is required, some interesting, some not, but if you enjoy learning about the world take him!
He is a handfull, but the life experience and knowlege this man has is astounding. He is truly passionate and expects a lot out of the students. There is a ton of reading and a decent amount of writing, but you will learn - a lot. Stay caught up in class and he will love you.
Eaton is a brilliant guy, but very eccentric. If you don't take learning seriously his class won't be worth either of your time. Reading is heavy and required, sometimes dense, but always well worth it. Although I only took two courses with Eaton, he's been the most influential professor/teacher I've had.
Very intelligent person but takes his time to communicate and teach. No gum in his class. Got to be respectful. Class is easy if you keep up with the readings. Very approachable.
Dr. Eaton is an absolute genius. He is a paradigm of extraordinary humanbeingship. His anthropological knowledge base is astounding! His experiences are increasingly impressive. He is very realistic and approachable. You will really like learning with him if you are in the slightest bit intelligent. I would recommend him to all serious scholars.
MOST INTELLEGENT PROFESSOR!! Eaton knows so much about current events, world culture and really loves his this subject. His passion really motivates you to become more informed. Although essays were tough, his feedback is useful to help you for the other 2 essays. NO FINAL was given!!!
Eaton is always extremely prepared for each of his lectures, and you will always learn something new! Class may seem boring and hard at first, but it'll get easier! You never know what grade you have, so you need to always be consistent!
If you are going to Chico, you owe it to yourself to take a class with Prof. Eaton. Yes, it'll be hard... but you may find the experience a bit transformative.
If you take this class, initially you will be a little caught of guard my Eaton's personality. You may even want to drop. Stay in the class though, because he's very passionate about what he teaches, and he's traveled and cares about your grade. Effort is the biggest factor in your grade in this class. Show up, and do the assignments!
He is a very interesting man who is hard to impress. He has no patience for students. His geography quizzes are hard to see because he projects google maps onto the overhead and points to areas of Africa with his mouse. I'd come to class early on these days just to sit in the front because sitting in the back rows makes the quiz impossible.
Eaton is hard but worth it. He doesn't take his job lightly and he honestly cares about his students success. He is one of my favorite teachers that I had at Chico State. He's actually really funny and real. You do a lot of intense reading but there's always a reason for the material he picks. He is amazing. I will miss his class.
Mr. Eaton is really something else. He's very interesting and he expects a lot from his students. There were a lot of readings that he assigns through out the weeks so stay caught up. And he doesn't tell you you're grade till they are due to be posted. So he wants you to work hard. So if you don't mind these things then take the class.
Professors like Dr. Eaton are few and far between. He cares about the students, passionate about the subject, and extremely well read. He doesn't just stand at the computer and lecture at the class, he asks questions, weekly posts, and has group discussions. You must keep up with the reading to survive this class. It's a lot of work, but worth it.
Don't take this class. There are better ones that meet the requirements. Eaton assigns way too much reading. It's impossible. Don't really need to buy the course packs if you search online for the individual articles. Can be kind of difficult to find which pages to read. His lectures are all over the place, don't really pertain to assignments.
Loved this class! In the beginning of the semester was hard to understand what Eaton expected from us but became clearer during the semester. READ THE ASSIGNED READINGS! Attend class and take notes, they will come in handy when writing the online discussions later on. Intelligent guy and well qualified! You'll learn a lot from his experiences!
worst class. if you have no interest in anthropology don't take it. He grades way too hard.
Dr. Eaton's class was painfully boring. I dreaded having to go to his class. His lectures are aimless and there is no real way to take notes on whatever tangent he goes off on . You could not go to class the entire semester and if you did the readings, you will be fine on quizzespapersassignments... except he takes attendance.
If you're looking to pad your GPA and want an easy class, DON'T take Dr. Eaton. On the other hand, if you're a serious scholar, if you want a challenge, if you're here to learn something, then Dr. Eaton is a must. Lots of reading, critical thinking, participation, a fair amount of writing. He expects you to be a University student!
He is not a good teacher and talked about random information about his history in his life. He always says to take notes but you never need to.
You need to do the readings and postings! He only posts letter grades for assignments, you don't know your grade until the very end. Super eye opening class, there's a good amount of writing but he is a very fair grader. You have to buy a lot of books throughout the semester. Takes attendance every class but is a good professor
If you're looking for an easy A, this is NOT the class!! I wish I would've looked at this site before I signed up. All grades are letter grades, not percentages/numbers. If you take this class, make sure you buy the book or you will not pass. Can be very rude and discouraging at times which makes it hard for you to actually want to go to class.
best teacher i've had. we read a lot but the readings were very interesting and I learned a lot from him. Very good teacher.
Dr. Eaton's classes are not only informative but also made me strive to be a better student. He clearly loves what he does and cares very much about his students. Even a quick chat with him after a class makes that clear. He is willing to work with you if you are struggling. That being said, you get the grade you earn, and it's not BS-able.
Are you looking for an easy class? One that can help you get that easy A? Well, I'm here to tell you to KEEP LOOKING! Weekly readings & quizzes: A LOT, SO YOU BETTER BE PREPARED! Exams: YOU BETTER READ, SWEETHEART! AND TAKE NOTES WHILE YOU'RE AT IT! In summation, JUST READ, READ, READ!!! As for Dr. Eaton, I actually like him. Good luck!
He is a great professor and an interesting person in general. I enjoyed listening to stories about his experiences. He has also written articles about his travels and had our class read them. As long as you do your work and actually focus on the material you'll be good.
Great professor, makes you work for your grade. He assigns a lot of online discussion post, readings and quizzes. You have to keep up with the readings or you will be behind and struggle. He assigns at least one discussion post a week.
Reading is more important than going to lectures. However, go to lectures, he takes attendance, and if he knows your face by the end of the year, you're guaranteed a better grade in the class. There are no points in the class, you get letter grades on assignments, and he decides the grade at the end of the semester. Overall really nice helpful guy
Eaton is a pretty tough customer. He does tell you from the start that you need to do the readings, but you don't discuss them thoroughly in class. He enjoys telling students to study abroad every class but does so condescendingly. Also, be prepared to write an abundance of posts in his class. Don't skip class, his assistant passes a roll sheet.
He could be very rude at times. I personally did not enjoy this class because it had me bored majority of the time and at times his lectures were irrelevant . A LOT of reading is involved and it is very time consuming. His quizzes are very detailed and There is a blackboard post every week. Your attendance can make or break your grade so GO!
This is the most difficult class I've ever taken which is saying something since it's a 100 level class. An hour of reading a night, quizzes almost every class, and blackboard postings due every week. We wrote a paper in September and didn't get our grades on them until November. Take another class/ proff if you can.
Be ready to have a passion for Africa because this class is a full immersion into studying the region. There is a lot of reading, books are expensive, quizzes are tough but manageable IF you do the reading, parts of the lecture are fascinating depending on your interests, you must pay attention, and work VERY hard to receive an A.
If you take a class with David Eaton, you should be a serious student who is taking the class to learn. You will have to put in effort and work hard in this class. David Eaton is tough, but he is inspirational and will only push you to become a better student. He is an extremely motivating teacher with fascinating lectures.
Professor Eaton is a great educator and shows passion in his work. Eaton's Anth113 is not a textbook course, instead material is covered throughout a vast variety of content. If you respect the class and put some effort in, you'll come out of it happy and interested in what you have learned and your grade should reflect that.
Mr. Eaton is probably the worst professor i've ever had. Having to read 100 pages a week then take a 5 question quiz worth ten points is ridiculous. Not to mention he makes these quizzes difficult even when you DO read every single page. Makes quiz answers all correct and you have to decide which is the MOST correct, excuse me but what?
So much reading starting the first day, 3 textbooks and 4 novels. He won't post grades until the semester is over, most people do well even though you feel like you failed every assignment he isnt clear about requirements. spend a lot of time on your essays make them precise. cool info he just expects alot from a ge class but he is very intelligent
Most of the time I didn't know what he was even talking about. It is super hard to follow along during his lectures. When it came to tests and quizzes, he would sometimes let us use notes or the course-packet, but most of the time he didn't. He does take attendance everyday so make sure you show up. He also assigns several essays.
Hard Quizzes every week. So much reading each week. Wants very specific answers for quizzes, takes role, doesn't put anything in the grade book till end of semester so you don't know what you have in the class the entire semester. Lots of memorization for map quizzes. Very hard class for a 100 level course, don't take it if you don't have to!!!
One of the most influential professors I have every had in my life.
Mr. Eaton doesn't have a clear cut plan for teaching, he jumps from the Congo to Chico to Somalia and requires 2.5 page "discussions" to answer prompts on 12 page readings which don't make much since either. Attendance is required, and even though he lecture all class, you leave more confused than when you went in.
Mr. Eaton was by far the worst teacher I have had at Chico State. I took this Anthropology 113 course to fulfill my GC requirement and he was teaching the class like it was graduate level. He didn't grade anything until after finals week and instead of a final he assigns a final project during our final session. I would have given a 0 but I can't
NEVER TAKE A CLASS TAUGHT BY THIS TEACHER!!!! I cannot stress this enough. 75+ pages of reading for every lecture. The semester is over and there still isn't a grade on blackboard past August 31. Spends lectures bragging about his travels instead of teaching. Way too much work for a GE. Condescending. Assigns a ridiculous final assignment.
Do not take this teacher. I spent roughly $200 on books just for this class which was a total of 10 books and course packets. We only used the course packets and when I tried to sell my books back to the book store, they wouldn't take he books back because "they are in low demand".
By far worst professor I've had. His "lectures" are him rambling on about his own travels. Class should be called "David Eaton's Life." He believes everyone in the class wants to be an anthropologist. Never ever posts grades. Assigns ridiculous amounts of reading followed by tedious quizzes. Goes over class time everyday and won't let you leave.
DO NOT take this class! Eaton is a very unpleasant professor. He will yell and get in students faces for slouching, chewing gum, or not answering his ridiculous questions. Never posts grades, I turned in an essay in September and didn't receive my grade until January.. along with my final grade, which was also a mystery all semester.
Dr. Eaton is an amazing professor. He truly wants students to learn and he is extremely passionate about anthropology. You will be reading a lot, but if you just get a general sense of the reading, you'll be fine. Go talk to him after class, he is such an amazing professor and person and loves talking with students.
Eaton was an okay professor. The class was mainly reading and taking notes for homework. There were ridiculous amounts of readings each week (three 100 + page course packs worth of them) but if you take the time you can get it done and do well in the class. The class was very interesting, but just a little too much work for a GE.
I love Dr. Eaton but I definitely understand some of the complaints made about him, especially from students in the 100-level classes. Even I think he assigns too many readings and I'm an anthropology major who is used to having lots of readings. Take him if you're interested in the field, but if it's just for GE credits, find another class.
Very passionate
Eaton, what a joke. I seriously don't know why they still have this professor teaching this class. I'm a Senior engineering student and this 100 level course has to top all of my classes I've taken in regards to the workload. Seriously, don't take this class unless you really want to work really hard for a GE class. I would give a 0 if I could.
all semester long I didn't know my grade and the lectures are so long and never about the reading. he talks more about his personal life and expects you to know everything and if you don't answer his difficult questions then he gets very mad and shows it a lot. This is the most reading I have ever done for any class I've taken. I spent a lot onbook
He will go on and on about how ignorant you as a class are, also narcissistic. Throughout each of the topics he will start talking about himself. Power points useless -- only pictures. Tons of reading, you'll be spending a lot on all the required books and he'll give you impossible quiz questions that he doesn't even think are fair questions.
Dr. Eaton is an extremely knowledgable, kind professor who truly cares about his students. ANTH 496 with him was both challenging and rewarding. There is a TON of reading-probably more than any other Anthro. class. But since it is a capstone for my major, I needed it. Would 100% recommend taking Eaton for this course instead of Brazeal!
Took 496 with him and found the class interesting. I wished there was more structure regarding class lecture. He is willing to help students and is always friendly.
You will notice the most negative reviews come from students in Dr. Eaton's 113 class. He holds an extremely demanding Gen Ed class, which takes many students by surprise. There are many readings which range from dense to very dense. However, if you respect the education you are paying for, this may be the most rewarding class you ever take.
Dr. Eaton is a caring professor who wants you to learn. You have to read a lot for this class, but as long as you read & write good discussion posts & show up for class everyday, there shouldn't be a problem getting an A. He's passionate about what he teaches & loves it when students interact with him. He does like to pick on students at random.
This class was a 3 hour class once a week. Expect to read a lot, keep an organized notebook on the readings, and come to class prepared to discuss the readings. This class made me switch my focus to medical anthro. Dr. Eaton is an amazing professor and anthropologist. I highly recommend this course. If you want feedback, go to his office hours!!
Eaton is a great professor. He is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the material allowing for an incisive and fruitful discussion. He does require a lot of reading and some participation but it helps with actually understanding the material. He cares about each student and their grasp on the information and is easily available for help
he made it very hard for me to enjoy the content with the pages and pages of reading and unrelated material in lectures. I bought two book along with 3 packets of reading and we only read the first part of the books. Grading and feedback was never given by the time he said we would have them. The class is over and I still dont have my grade.
He is passionate and clearly loves his class but its hard to keep up for sure. He assigns so many readings and you dont know your grade most of the time.
By far was my hardest class next to Anatomy and sometimes had to prioritize this class over it. Has an attitude to students sometimes and even criticized us for being Pre Med students. Barely got any time on most of the quizzes and the essays are graded very hardly, so it felt like an English class more than anything! Good luck to my pre meds
Dr. Eaton is really passionate about what he does, but his class was extremely diffucult for me and I am usually the type of student to stay on top of their work. If you're able to choose another professor, DO SO!!! His readings are crazy long and many times I would not be able to finish them. He also gives out many quizzes and is a tough grader.
The professor is super passionate about anthropology but he will make you work for your grade. You read a TON and its not an easy class. Discussion post every Sunday and quizzes every week, but is overall a nice professor.
If you really enjoy Cultural Anthropology then Professor Eaton is the best value for money in terms of passion and knowledge. Classes are very in-depth and full of condensed knowledge. Prepare to read ALOT and bring your best work, so not an easy pass. He is very upfront of expectations and sometimes his lack of tact may rub people the wrong way
David Eaton is very knowledgable and passionate about anthropology for sure. He assigns A TON of reading and I could not read them all every week. It was a lot of work for a GE class. He's nice but can be sort of mean and contradictory and calls you out in class. I wouldn't take a class with him again, I haven't known my grade all semester either.
Took him on zoom. He made it clear that if you needed to turn off your camera it was okay but then would then get mad and put you on the spot for it. No structure its just him talking. He expects you to be there all 3 hours and then some. Would get frustrated with technology and take it out on students. Rude and critical about answers to his ?s.
Eaton really fails to inspire, and can border on mean. It is not at all indicative of you or your intelligence if he makes one of those comments at you. He really goes on a lot about things irrelevant to the topic and often shows up late and goes way over class time. You will also never know your grades.
He assigns many readings per week which are very hard to understand on your own. You would think he would go into depth on them in his lectures but he does not. If you ask questions, he will make you feel stupid for asking them even though he doesn't give good instructions. Very discouraging to students who want to learn. He is blatantly mean.
He is very rude to students who speak up in class and who want to try to contribute. Then, he gets mad when no one wants to speak up to answer questions. He creates a very difficult environment to learn. Do not take this professor if you can avoid him
He has a very good heart. Not sure if it was just because of COVID, but very hard class for me. Could never really pay attention or understand what was going on. Lots of writing and LOOOTTSSSS of reading, so many pages. He is a really good person and his stories are cool, could be a different story if took in person. taken FALL 2020
AVOID THIS TEACHER. He is condescending, goes on many tangents in class unrelated to the material or to the assignments, and DOESN'T POST GRADES like a normal teacher. He says that grading is difficult and time consuming, which it shouldn't be. He over complicates it instead of just posting grades. Give a quiz? Just post the grade, dude. He sucks.
As a fourth year anthropology student, i still have absolutely no idea what he’s talking about half the time. His lectures are just random information thrown together with no schedule that is followed. I’ve never had such a bad experience with a professor
This was a very touch class but it was very interesting. I'm not going to lie it was a lot of work and I thought I would end up with a bad grade but I didn't. Make sure you do/ actually understand the readings given, it will help you a lot in the class. It is ALOT of reading so pace your reading throughout the week and weekend and you'll be fine.
He's a good person and very passionate about anthro, just a bad professor. The only assignments are a 500-900 word discussion post every few weeks, essays, and the occasional quiz (all of which he won't grade for 2 months). Never articulates exactly what he wants for an assignment, just says "I give credit for good work" in response to everything.
He had many different course packs and books to buy and spent over $150 for a 100-level class. There is a project with students in Spain and it is added on top of the other work, there is no choice to not participate. He is very passionate about this but it is extra work for everyone.
If you are passionate about anthropology, go for this class you will love it. Otherwise I beg of you steer clear. The biggest problem is he assigns about 40 pages total in reading on average with very specific quiz questions. He doesn't answer his email. He constantly goes on tangents far from his posted agenda and never posts grades. I could go on
don't take this class his expectations of students is way to high. he expects us to be able to read like 40 pages a day and do other stuff on top of that. it wasn't physically possible especially if you have work or other classes. He was up the ass and made weekly quizzes worth 100 points so it hella drops your grade. HE SUCKS TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!
Very passionate and cares about the content he covers. There is a ton of reading every week, writing assignments, and weekly quizzes/tests worth many points. Hardly anything gets graded during the semester. Deadlines are flexible and attendance matters. For a level 100 class it was a lot of work, if you're taking it for GE find something else.
the anthropology capstone class is so incredibly disappointing. he makes you read The Iliad because "every intelligent person has read it" but that's such a classist perspective that i now have no desire to read it. + the class feels more like an english/geography course and he leaves no room for error if you don't remember something word for word.
Screw this guy who tf assigns 3+ hours worth of Bach compositions
Professor Eaton is one of my favorite lecturers! He is a tangential thinker, knowledgeable, and passionate about his field. To do well in this class, you must be able to jump from topic to topic rapidly and make connections, do the reading, and be able to form your own opinions. We covered a wide variety of topics, and some in class were confused.
This professor fails to post any graded material, assigns countless articles and readings and acts shocked when nobody has hours outside of class to read them all, assigns deadlines with not enough time to complete the assignment and is honestly a pain in the ass. Avoid this class if possible. Over half the class dropped out within the first month.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS AS THE PROF DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO USE HIS COMPUTER TO GRADE!!!
The key to this class, and as such is VERY IMPORTANT, is reading assigned material BEFORE the class in which he discusses it. He is much happier when he doesn't have to dilute complex material for students who didn't read it. But he IS caring and tries to be understanding of extenuating circumstances as long as you communicate and work with him!
Professor Eaton is very passionate about the subject, but the class workload is heavy. Lots of weekly readings and assignments, with grades often delayed. Attend class, use unstuck ai for study prep, and you can do well.
