Awsome Teacher! He really knows his stuff. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. He is great, I really learned a lot.
Mr. Evans is not a good instructor, he is not clear with his instructions, he does not help you, he is very sarcastic and self-serving. He expects you know math for a computer class. It seems as though he wants you to fail. Do not take this instructor.
I took his class when he first started teaching the online CIS 10 class. Had no structure to his class whatsoever. I remember him assigning a Chapter for us to read because it would be on the test. The test questions ended coming from another chapter.
He doesnt leture. The last thing I remember from his is the story "taking notes is like bunny appearing the forest". His lack of mutual respect makes him a annoy teacher. I wouldnt recommend him at all since all he cared about is his PHD than te
How you can learn from teacher who cannot use the computer? Lectures are confusing, he changes his mind every 2 minutes, bad attitude! His medal is more important than teaching in class!
teacher is crap, can't teach, bad attitude, stupid and pointless lectures that make no sense. you don't learn jack ****

he gives a lot of oppotunities..(exra credit) and someone on here is right he changes his mind really often and that confuses me often...he aint as bad as some of you on here said though
I really wouldn't recomend this structor. He never teaches to students and always same things. He is very sock. He never uses computer. Don't take Evan. If you take Evan class, You should be fail and don't learn anymore.
Treats people like school children...and have them to do everything his way. An Arrogant man... His class is not enjoyable and provide no content beside from the textbook. His lack of respect to students make his class an painful experience. Avoid him.
I find that this instructor provides opportunities for me to show that I am an adult. He does require work and effort- not like High school where you just show up and get a good grade. He cares and wants us to learn. College is different!
Horrible!! He speak us and expect pay attention AND understand?!! He also expect us to use material from the class... never again.
I took his class and had no problems - he gave me an "A." If you read the text, follow his instructions and relate it to real life “common sense” issues you will have no problems. CIS62 is not a computer class – it is an analytical problem sol
Online class. Pretty straight forward. I got my A.
Prof. Evans is not a good teacher. He doesnt explain himself when teaching. If you have any questions for him, his only way of answering you is to laugh at you like you are telling him a joke. I recommend that noone take him for any courses. Very bad.
Evans is an enjoyable professor. He does make you work and read, but this is a good thing. He treats the in-class discussions on a much higher level than I was used to at PCC. He wanted discussion - not just telling you what to do. Good guy.
Prof Evans surprised me at how much he cared that I do well- sometimes more than I did! I am learning a lot about myself. Thanks Prof Evans
It seems that you must teach him instead of the other way around.
I got it! Just ace the second quiz!!
prof at first seems to be very hard, but as the year goes on you learn his tricks. the first practice test is the same at the actualy test. do well on all extra credit because he is a hard grader, and TAKE NOTES, he like to see people take notes.
he is cool guy. he has alot of extra credit if you do it you will get A. but he doesn't teach computer he teach the problem in your life.
At your own risk.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!.. its more like the student need to teach him then he teaching us.. I REALLY RECOMMENDED YOU NOT TO HAVE HIM FOR A TEACHER!!!!!
He does not let immature students hide in his class. If you are there to learn you will appreciate his style. If you are there for an easy time, beware!
This professor is the worse teacher you can take for computers. He does not understand what hes teaching and he tells his lame ass joke to kill time. If you are having this porfesor.....man...I wish you the best of luck.you'll be half dead. he is the most stupidiest teacher I know in my whole life.
Worst Teacher Ever!!! Don't Know How To Teach!!! Not Even A PROFESSOR!!!
I have discovered that there are two types of teachers- those that care and those that don't. He cares.
Credit when you do the assignment!!.... Never answer the question you want him to.. give 0 in test even though you got almost half the test right!!!... Don't even know how to fix Internet!!!!!!! Makes bad remark of student in front of class a lot!! Should be FIRE!!!
I would never take this teacher again. I wonder how this guy keeps his job.
I am forced to read the textbook. How awful!!
This guy right here dont know nothing i wonder how he get to teach he must have cheated his life through school. He dont know how to fix the internet and he is alwayz late!!! He also cap on alot of student in front of the class, putting students down.. FIRE HIM ALREADY!!!!!
Uh..what everyone saying is wrong,it must be the same person saying all the bad stuff..This teacher is the easiest ever, he gives so much extra credit I'm 70 points above the 100% limit..You get weekly tests that you ALREADY know the answers for, and a take home quiz that you can RETAKE..RECOMMENDED
This teacher tried to make an ass about me in front of the class thinking i didnt know nothing about computers but it turned out i knew more than him. He also try to put me down because of my apperance calling me a "gangster". Very judgemental. Still got a C in hes class tho but i give him a F-
Lame, incompetent, ignorant!! Better off learning on your own. Grades according to mood rather than curriculum and syllabus. If you're extremely talented at kissing butt, u might get an "A". NOT RECOMMENDED!!
EASY CLASS!His class is so easy, just dont skip the class. One HW per week, and you get points for points. Two same tests on every chapter! To get extra points, just do what he requires. As a student just pay attentions to his class. It's my first semester in AMERICA,I got 100s points more than we need for an A. And he is a very Nice teacher! Helpful
Evans is a F-ing joke. He aint funny and he's definitely not intelligent. Lectures on BS stuff. Cant teach for crap. USELESS GARBAGE. Don't even know why he's still a teacher. I HATE HIM
Prof Evans is really good helpful teacher..when you take his class, you will have basic tools (butterknife) to go on and learn high level language programing.. he is not hard and he is not easy too.. you have to pay attention and you learn... Very funny and helpful guy... RECOMMENDED

do not ever take his class, he doesn't know what he is teaching, and he cant even answer the question we ask him. he deducts pepole's grade if he is upset, what the...?? i cant believe he is still teaching in pcc....
unfair.....i don't wanna take his class any more.
World's best Professor
He doesn't know how to teach or explain the subject. If you ask too many question,he start deducting points from the whole class and make us to homework to get the deducted points back. all homework is done outside of class. All he does is BS in class.it's basically an online class, except you have to show up to putup with his BS.
why the hell is he still teaching... fire him already.... god!!!
He is ****ing joke. I don't even know why he is a teacher. He is a man of broken promise. Grade the tests depend on his mood. You upset him, you lose your points. Don't ever ask him questions, he doesn't answer & just take out your points w/o reasons. Taking his class is my biggest mistake in my life. He thinks he's genius. He is just ****ing joke.
Evans is fraud! Very unfair & he is out of his mind. HE DESPERATELY WANTS "PH.D". He even wants students call him Dr. Evans even though he is not. I gave him big****!!!!!!
im so bored...and he thinks im a smart ass...so he hates me...-.-...ugh...and the most annoying is...now he doesnt even take the time to lecture...makes us go up in front of class to tell about the chapters.
This guy was the greatest teacher ever. You are all nuts. His interest in analogies to show 'deep understanding' and giving pencils was evidence of a great mind. I taught for eight years in public school. I've taken millions of classes. Genius like his cannot be gotten in a program. His asking for a deep understanding shows a valuable vision.
he is an ***hole...he takes off points for nothing...and when he knows you dont know the answer...he asks the you the question and tries to make you look bad...
Horrible! An online course and of all my instuctors, he is the worse. During the first class meeting(we only have 2) he talked about himself and did not give out any valid info. the tutors even thinks he's nuts for assigning qbasic in an intro course. Don't e-mail any questions, he never gives a complete answer and is usually very sarcastic. ***hol

He is an ****. He takes out your points without reasons. He doesn't want you to have perfect scores. If you do, then he takes out points for nothing. Trust me. Telling you from experience. Don't ever take his class. He should not be a teacher in the first place & He is lack of a teacher's ethnic.
He is a very difficult and sarcastic teacher. His style of teaching just makes you want to drop his class. He takes off points and to get them back you must do the extra credits. I really don't recommend him for CT. If you decide to take him,be prepare learn chess!

He does have a strange grading system. You have control over it. Do the work, read the chapters and show up for class. I got a B.
This prof. is a fool. Do NOT even think about taking CIS 10 w/this guy if you already have good knowledge of computers. He will force you to do more work and have it done before the rest of the class. Really bias. Gives the slower students less work then treats you like**** if you know something and gives you 10x the work that he gave them! wth?
Awesome guy! had student bring donuts cause his phone went off in class. Pretty easy projects. it was winter, so maybe he was taking it easy on us. Hope i can take more CS classes with him
he seems to be fun, but he is really boring. His knowledge is very very weak. you won't learn anything useful in his class. If you know how to program, NEVER take his class, he'll make you crazy. Also, he never grades fairly, he just grades as his personal preference. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN, DON'T TAKE HIM. HE'S THE WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER SEEN.
unfair grading. be a "good" student, but don't be "smart", or you will have big trouble to get an A.
Easy lecture, easy test. But if you already have some knowledge of programming, never dream of getting an A. Grading depends on his mood. If he doesn't like you, he'll take off points for nothing, or making up a stupid reason. If you don't know much about programming, you won't learn anything useful either.
Trying to take his class? make sure you have excellent social skills. if you want to BS with teacher and learn nothing, take him. I' new to program, and I learned nothing but BS. btw, if you are not new to program, and are expecting a good score, go buy a lotto, it has much more chance to win.
this guy doesnt want to anwer most of our question through e-mail but this is sppose to be a Computer class... not worth taking!! other teachers are better even though im getting an "A".. easy grades only if you submit everything ontime... but i learn nothing from him.. the textbook is much a better teacher than him
WHATEVER YOU DO! DONT YOU TAKE HIS CLASS OR U'll END UP BEING - NOT SMARTER OR ANYTHING, UR'e JUST WASTING UR MONEY AND TIME AND THIS GUY ACT AS IF HE KNOW HIS STUFF... our class even end up buying the wrong book...
Winter 2007. Online. May I say I laugh at this professor about him and his computer knowledge. He acts as if he knows it all. I'll run around him in circles bout PC stuff. First of all, the book we used doesn't refer to the "chapter" system but in units. In his syllabus he tells us to read "chapter" 1. Didn't help or clarify for us. Complete jerk.
I took his class online, and at the "orientation" he seemed nice and I had high hopes...which he shattered. He will refuse to answer any questions through e-mail (he wants you to come see him during office hours...), and he accused many students of cheating (even though the assignments are supposed to be the same...) at least the final was easy
read the text & you'll Ace it
This teacher sucks big time DONT TAKE HIM. He does not teach well, very unclear of what he is teaching. Very hard and will fail you without any remorse. This teacher does not care about you at all or about how he teaches. His teaching skills is very poor and most of the time he doesnt know what he is talking about.
DO NO RECOMMEND! Unless you like being demeaned, demoted, dominated! Evans late for first class and only taught for 1 hour (3 hr class). Did not show for 2nd class at all. On third class he was upset that we were behind and blamed us although we had no idea what was expected and had only had 1 hour of incoherent instruction. Mid-life meltdown!
KEEP OUT!
Freaking hard
There are some things is CIS that you can only learn IF YOU READ THE BOOK. The professor as little or nothing to do with you learning.
In a computer class (CIS10) why do we need to learn MS Excel? I can take one of the BIT classes if I needed it. Thank god this was an on-line class that met only once a week. Take it during the summer. Oh! Doughnuts are a required purchase if your cell phone goes off, if you don't buy, for the class, he will drop your grade 100 points!!!
The most useless teacher possible! This is an online class. He will not help via email. If he responds then he is rude. Takes points away if you make comments! I am going to file a formal complaint with PCC. Avoid him!!!!
avoid this guy, he is an ignorant. poor teaching skill, and assign lots of hard projects. grading system is not fair. always make up stupid reasons to cancel the lecture. He is totally useless. Save ur money and ur time, and take other professors. if u want to try him, make sure to drop his class b4 u cant take ur money back. He is the worst
I was so glad to see that other people think this guy is terrible. He really is. If you are going to take his class, take it online and learn yourself so you don't have to see or talk to him every week. He's just weird and can be very rude. One of those, "I'm better and smarter than you teachers." Avoid him at all costs.
HE WANTED US TO READ THE TEXTBOOK...SOME THOUGHT HE WOULD READ IT 'TO' US! LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT!
I was inclined to read the book, so I did fine. His lectures add life to the details provided in the book. He does seem to know how to relate current events to the material.
I guess he has changed...I found that if I read the book I do well on his quizzes. Multiple chances- highest grade kept!!
This is one of the worst professors on the planet and this is not just an angry student or someone got a bad grade, I am a professional who took a System Analysis class to find out that he is using a motivational book (40 pages) by a no name publisher in Glendale and his idea of teaching you is to have you buy a chess board and teach you to play.
I really enjoyed this professor. He cares about students- even the costs of their textbooks! I took that same class and did learn systems analysis, problem solving, and, chess!! He rocks!!
His Java class was fun. We started with Alice for classes and animation. Then Java for the $$. He is very flexible. I look to take him when he teaches C++!
The guy was easy! He helped us a lot with the extra credit and with the binary. Excel in a 6 week session is hard, so the extra was nice!!
ok teach. kept us awake. i guess he did his job
lots of extra credit!!
early saturday morning class, but he did his best to understand our 'other' lives...!
online class. frustrating. would not disclose how he deduct points. would not clarify assignment instructions despite over 10 people asking. deactivated Blackboard's e-mail function half way through the course. deleted students' discussion posts for no reasons. changed online quiz time limit without announcement. I would suggest another instructor
This professor can't teach at all... He is the worst teacher I have taken at PCC.
Sorry excuse for a professor. I would not recommend taking this professor for any class. Doesn't seem to know to much, not helpful and try's to make him self feel more important than he should.
I took this class online. There was a test after each chapter and some Excel assignments. I have a background in computer science and am an Excel power user--the class was easy for me. BUT note, he did NOT help anyone who asked for online help NOR did he teach anything. I would not recommend this (online) class unless you are already proficient.
I am shocked that Prof. Evans is still teaching. I am sorry for the students. I took his class about 2 years ago and wanted to throw up on him. He is bad, no he is worse than that. Try to avoid him if you can!!!
The subject matter is not very tough, but this prof isn't very helpful and his instructions are not clear. He also spends valuable class time discussing donuts and jokes.
Outrageous!! Do yourself a favor and take this class with another instructor. It is an absolute shame that someone like this is allowed in a classroom, or for that matter on a college campus.
I paid $$ for this??? OOPPSS!! Do yourself a favor, take this class with someone else!!!
I have never had a teacher so uninterested in his students success, it seems as though he wants you to fail. Very inconsistent with grading and terrible with communication.
Took the class online, not 1 point of extra credit offered, not helpful at all, ignores emails, gives last minute assignments when he forgets to update his calendar. Looks for any excuse to doc points, gives confusing instructions, the list goes on and on. The ONLY pro is that you get 3 chances on each quiz. Waste of my money.
Easy class, however, very hard grader! Very strange sense of humor that may be very offensive to some. May seem insane at times. Most work is done at home (online class w/ once a week lecture.) Gave lots of extra credit. No final.
Very poor lecture. Always talking of donuts and coffee. All homework exercises are not well understood. I have taken a lot of classes, but this one is the worst. If you do not have any previous materials from his previous classes, don't think to get a good grade on this.
Does not help or really respond to email or board messages
He's the worst teacher that I ever took in PCC. His lectures worst, not teach anything, always skip important sections. Class have 6 tests and will give you low score without reasons. 1/3 of class was dropped in the mid-semester.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!! He is by far the worst professor in PCC. Sense of humor makes me ill.
Avoid him AT ALL cost. I've taken this course over due to certain circumstances while taking it the first time and it was the worst mistake ever. I've gotten at least a A/B on all tests but still managed to Fail. I now need a petition to take this course over AGAIN.. He also does not take criticism well & he will throw your comments in your face.
WORST TEACHER EVER! He wasn't fair with grading lied about final! And didn't explain and made students feel less! Over60% of students dropped in half of the semester!
Online summer session class. I found it to be very difficult. The material is extremely technical. The prof was hit/miss in responding to email. The quizzes had ridiculous time limits - about 6-8 minutes. You definitely have to know the material. I think I would have prefered to take this in class.
This teacher is ridiculously unprofessional. He not only is unavailable on the "office" hrs he sets but if you question ANYTHING, he will get mad, take it personal,& ignore every question after that. He locked me out of the online class site after bringing up the fact that he gave us work for spring break w/o telling us.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR. He expects you to do homework which he doesn't really go over how to do it during class time. No clear explanations. No Examples.
Overall terrible professor. If you need to take CIS 16 you are just plain out of luck as he is the only professor that teaches this course.
Low attitude Professor! Bad luck because of no choice. I got A anyway because He got replaced by other professor at the near end of semester. Lucky! wait for many semester, he is still there. Tip: study the material thoroughly prior taking his class if you must take him so that you can pass with with C. Don't expect to learn anything from him.
Hard to reach professor. Never answers emails and begins to give out assignments that are difficult to understand near the end. Class did get frustrating near the end. Final was poorly chosen. Never went over the material for it and then added stuff that the book didn't go over and was difficult to find online. Don't have a choice in professors.
He tells a lot of bad jokes and rambles on about his opinions on stuff that doesn't really matter. His assignments are due online and most of the time the due date on the website is wrong, and he will wonder why no one turned in the assignment. He won't let you ask questions, when he does he won't answer them. All we really did was play Chess.
His class is easy if you are a good student, otherwise he will place the spotlight on you and humiliate you in front of the class. He will make you think and ask you questions so make sure you are always paying attention and taking notes. You must be quick on your feet as he won't take "I don't know" for an answer and will leave you sweating.
Makes bad jokes. Reads everything from the book. Not much hands on learning, coding in class. He will put you in the spot light and humiliate you if you don't know the answer. I'm afraid he might be the only professor teaching cis 36 currently.
Do not take his class. Even if it is the last class available. Horrible at explaining. Creates lectures on the spot by going page by page out of the book. Assignments are made up on the spot and you're EXPECTED to know exactly how to do them with little to no explanation. Very condescending. It's amazing people like this are allowed to "teach".
Very good professor. He's no-nonsense and straightforward, he prepares students for what's out in the real world. There's no incomplete and/or late assignments accepted in the real world, and that's how he approaches class. Very funny and entertaining, I liked him so much I enrolled for TWO of his classes next semester.
I can bet that every single positive comment is made up by him. There is no way that any sane person would like his teaching. I highly doubted his accreditation.
Completely nonsensical in his teaching/grading methods. Leaves unacceptably ambiguous instructions for online assignments then docks points silly reasons (if a reason is even given). Doesn't seem to understand when class starts since I'm marked as tardy or absent when I'm on time. Really considering dropping the class entirely. Horrible attitude.
Don't take his class if you don't understand the text very well because he does not teach at all and don't ask question because he will only tell to read the text, and it depend on his mood. and bring earplug just for protection from "bad humor"
He does not prepare for class, off his head. He WILL NOT reply e-mails. If he gives assignment you better have all questions ready in 10 seconds because that was the only chance. Puts students on spot and make them feel stupid. Grading is most on the PAST chapters if forgot name there goes 50%. This is not a class you can pass by knowing your stuff
Avoid taking his class. You won't learn anything from him. All the learning you get is from reading the textbook. He is there to grade student's work, but not to teach students. He annoys me by making up name for me. He shortening my real name, which would make me wonder if he really meant calling my name.
Beware when he feels like taking out points from extra credit, He will do it. I submitted all the assignments and extra credits he was given in the class, so I accumulated a lot of points which put me in a nice spot where I do not need to submit our final project and/or take the final exam and I would still get an A. But he took out some of my ECs
Professor Evans can be pretty rough. I would not advise taking him for anything other than CIS10. It is true you will be put on the spot if he feels you're not paying attention or taking notes. Not a lenient grader either. Do all of the assignments and extra credit; you'll get an easy A.
No need to read all reviews, they're all the same. Everything posted here about him is true. He makes students feel inferior to him, is never clear on assignments, is a HORRIBLE instructional teacher, and is very condescending. I feel horrible for staying in this class, but its the only one available so far so I have no option but to stay.
I'm doing well in this class and fully expect to enroll elsewhere for the same content. I spent 2 weeks in his class and can attest he's disinterested in teaching, unresponsive, and relies almost entirely on the text to teach you. I tried to stick it out based on sunk cost but reluctantly concluded that was a mistake and I needed to cut my losses.
Okay guys, don't make the same mistake as I did and take classes with instructors listed with "Staff" or "unknown", you don't want to risk even having the CHANCE of getting people like this. Never clear on work and has no idea how to consistently grade assignments let alone put them into a gradebook. As most people say, you learn from the textbook.
Evans is the worst Prof I have ever had at PCC and many others would agree. He continually calls students out and puts them on the spot to humiliate them. Drills students on punctuality and attendance when he has missed 2 classes in the 1st 3 weeks. He is condescending and does not teach, expects students to learn all the material on their own.
First, he is not easy grader and he is only teaching the lecture on class, no lab needed. Assignment due every week, a lot of extra credit, writing paragraph. My class began with more than 30 ppls, and ended up with 12. It is not hard to get A or B in his class. Just do all the assignment, you'll be fine :) REMEMBER, bring books on 1st day of clas
Helpful Class!
I've never met this worst teacher before, not even clearly and helpful at all dont take his class.
Make sure you have the book, because it might as well be your professor. I think Professor Evans is incapable of teaching. He no longer knows the material well enough to teach students anything of value about programming. He attempts to cover this up by, Not calling you by your name, Making fun of you, Telling jokes, Giving random HW.
The book pretty much teaches you. His way of teaching is reading straight from the book. I don't if he is lazy or just doesn't know how to teach. Has jokes that are too dry.
You see David Evans and expect a nice old man who is full of knowledge. Nope, he has an agenda. Wants everyone to know how many African-Americans and Hispanics were killed in Chicago 2013. This is a database class being taught with a basic Microsoft Access book. Unorganized. Tenured, so we suffer. Took him 3 weeks to choose a textbook, rarely used
Terrible professor. Beware, you might as well buy the books and teach yourself because he offers nothing but stale jokes. If you are having trouble with something you didn't understand he'll literally look at you and tell you to re-read the book. When I took his class everyone immediately dropped his class by the end there like 8 out of 30 students
A lot of people who complain are fresh out of high school and do not understand how college works. He is helping students out by letting them know how it will run in at a University. Class is simple, if you are lazy and fail to comprehend the simple LOGIC of the class then that is the students fault, not the instructor. People are too sensitive.
OH MY GOD . I have never seen a bad professor like him at PCC . He is very very un organize professor. He tells stupid jokes and picks on the students since the first day of the class. He gives assignments and extra credits with no clear instructions and if you do a little mistake, he will not give you any points. Not a fair grader.
This teacher does not belong at a fine school like PCC! Rude and demeaning towards students since day 1! Pretended to be a different professor and gave students who were late a hard time on purpose to get them to drop. Does not respond to his own students emails. Likes to make fun of students and pick on quiet students. Absolutely terrible teacher!
No textbook required. He expects you to utilize programming techniques that aren't compatible with mac. Harsh grader. Unless you know have a PC, don't take this class.
Hands down worst instructor I've ever had.
Not enough characters available to describe this teacher. Rude, Manipulative, racially bias (never said anything to me for being hispanic but he did make his opinion known about race), and so unclear with grading. If he didnt like a way you displayed a worksheets he would dock points. His grading system was not about completion of the assignment.
The best class I've ever taken!
Very fun professor. However very strict. If your phone makes a noise in class, 100 points off. A little bit biased.
Took him online. Completely unorganized the submit button for the assignment was missing many times, he made us buy a book we never used, and what learning we were getting was from videos from other sites. He sometimes even forgot to post the video links. If not for the technical difficulties resulting in a zero grade it would've been an easy pass.
Took his online class and it was terrible. He did not really teach and when I had questions he would rarely respond with unclear answers. He had the communication skills of a hermit. I was unable to complete several assignments because he did not give clear instructions on where to find the links. Go find a different professor that will do his job.
not friendly professor for students, kind of rude.
My God! THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER SEEN. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. It's unfortunate the only CIS 36 class is taught by him, but if you have another choice, take the other one and thank me later. Sometimes he comes unprepared. His teaching ideas are awful. Takes points off of your assignments for God knows why. Also, very, very, very, VERY RUDE guy.
Not a good Professor at all. terrible/awkward jokes, not prepared, and made us do odd assignments.
There's presentations like almost every week, and the worst part of it is that he makes you use Prezi. Also don't bother buying the book, if you are familiar with computers you'd be able to pass this class without reading the book. Overall, this was an interesting class. 10/10 would not take again
Horrible teacher, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!
TERRIBLE professor! Unorganized, never prepared for class... Gave random assignments. Constantly complained about not getting paid enough. Knocked off points or gave you no points if he didn't like something. Extremely rude, unclear instructions, Never answered questions. Always responded with "Go ask a classmate". Don't take his class!
Never met a professor like this guy right here, does not give a dam about his students. Horrible teaching skills does not answer questions, will say "ask a class mate" for anything he already said he wont repeat anything. He is very unorganized and disrespectful to his students.
In a nutshell this guy changed my opinion on tenure. Professors should be held accountable and let go if they are this terrible. I mean he teaches chess in a computer class. Also his grading is arbitrary. This class is only hard because you probably wont get the grade you deserve. The material itself is quite simple.
Deducts 100 points for cellphone ringing out of 320 point class, asks for donuts for whole class to remove deduction. Gave a $1 to a student who answered a question. Answers every question with a question/look at the book. Doesn't comment on hw while grading harshly. HW told 1 time in class, posted online with text such as "As discussed in class."
Easy class as long as you come to class and take notes. No midterms or finals. Just weekly homework assignments and 4 short presentations over the course of the semester.
He's very disrespectful to students. He has a big ego--often talks about himself and what a great guy he thinks he is. He does not care about students and does not know how to teach--he isn't prepared, not objective, and very unfair. He does not give helpful feedback. I'm a retired teacher, so I feel that my analysis is accurate and objective.
Professor Evans is very unique professor to me. Yes, he can be harsh and unforgiving but he can also be a great source of knowledge and an easy A for those who strive for it. He gives homework twice a week and grades them harshly. He expects his students to be responsible and treats them as such. This class is not for those faint of heart.
Tried to take an online class with him but he required an in-person meeting during the middle of the day. I could not make it due to work and I emailed him, called him, replied to his discussion thread about the meeting, and messaged him through the campus portal. No response to anything. He then dropped me from the class for not showing up
I signed up for this website just to rate him. The way he jokes around gets on students' nerve at some point. Deducts a lot of points just from misspelling. When students asks him questions, he refuses to answer, because "Students should have paid more attention." Gives 5 minutes to finish pop quizzes. A LOT of time WASTED on playing chess.
Took this class online and dropped it. Worst online class I ever took. Just tells you to read and complete the programming work. No help or tutorials. You do it all on your own. If you have questions he doesn't give good answers and/or will tell you to ask other classmates. Do not take this class!
In some cases you must read his mind to get the assignment the way he wants, take no artistic liberties because he does not appreciate creativity even if it shows your understanding of the subject. Teaches a simple subject as excel rows and columns by teaching your chess (?!?) I have been putting off other classes so I wont have to take him again.
I read the reviews and decided Id give it a go (Winter session). I loved his class! He is sarcastic and funny but not for the sensitive. He CLEARLY explains what he expects. If you are not listening, you will fall behind. He expects adults. He won't coddle you. Dont expect anything to be handed to you, he makes you figure it out. Would take again!
Prof Evans makes you work for your grade but also provides all the help necessary. He is very clear about what he expects. He is a tough grader but if you submit your assignments before the due date he will provide feedback on errors and gives you the opportunity to correct your assignment and resubmit. Take notes and do not miss class!
Professor Evans is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. Along with his witty and hilarious jokes and comments, he genuinely wants his students to learn. I was a little afraid to take his class upon these initial reviews but decided to anyway. Glad I did! My biggest advice is to not get intimated, by him or the work. Ask questions!
Anyone who has ever used a computer before would easily be able to do the assignments this professor gives. The problem is, he grades so harshly for the most minor of mistakes and not to mention, can be somewhat vague as to what he wants you to give him. It isn't hard to pass, but it can get really tricky to earn in A with such arbitrary grading.
His instructions are conflicting and unclear, which makes getting A's on assignments, very hard. Furthermore, exchanging emails about an assignment is a nightmare, as he gives very late and very vague replies. Ultimately, this results in the professor telling you to "start a group discussion" so other students can assume and answer for him.
First of all, this class is a JOKE. Prof Evans was the worst professor I've ever had in my two years at PCC and the sad part is that I'm very considerate of professors. He is simply lazy, and you're teaching yourself the whole semester. He's rude and even though the work is easy, he finds any little mistake to knock your grade down. Don't take him!
This professor made the students by a chess set for some reason when it didn't relate to anything he just wanted to play chess. He likes to talk about his personal life ALOT. A extremely tough grader he would grade based on his mood that day and wasn't very clear and coherent. Review your notes and hope you don't get on his bad side.
