Didn't grade anything all semester then gave out lots of C's and D's. Very unclear in grading expectations. Expects you to know what to do then wont answer questions when you ask.
Favorite teacher, learned a lot.
Easily my favorite professor in the FYIC. Go to his office hours multiple times to form a connection with him (seriously it will help). A very genuine professor that likes to see progress. You'll do three portfolios, do not wait until the night before to do them. Eyman is the best!
Eyman tells his students he wants to help them succeed and seems caring but if you ask questions he will not answer them. only 3 grades the whole semester and instructions are unclear for all of them. Interesting/fun content in class, but the projects are useless and graded very harshly. more interested in whats going on outside of class than in.
The class was interesting but I found it tough because there were only a few graded assignments throughout the semester that were fairly vague in description. Try to introduce yourself and go to office hours so he knows your trying. He often did not answer questions with straightforward answers, which I found frustrating. The TA was really helpful.
He was my favorite professor of the semester!
utilize the TA's. eyman is ridiculously vague and his class makes no sense. he doesn't really offer help if you go to him, it's just the same thing he said in class that day repeated. your grade consist of 3 projects and my entire grade for the class was out of 50 points. if you have questions ask TA's they help so much more than he does.
If you demonstrate clear passion and thought in your work, he will respect that. He is a really tough grader. (ex. "Great work! B.+"). If you want an A in the class, you have to go above & beyond. But this was definitely the most valuable of the FYIC courses, and he knows the course really well because he helped design it.
You have 3 grades total in this class. After the first project I recieved a B+ and was told to stick with doing a video blog I had been doing. He said that he liked the content and my idea. Then, when turning in the final part of the project I received a C- and he told me it was unprofessional and and that a lot of people had used the same idea.
This class has very little direction (by design) which can be extremely frustrating at times. There are only 3 graded assignments for the whole semester but make sure to do the stuff that's not for points as it does count toward participation. Eyman will like you a lot better if you make an effort to show up to his office hours and show you care.
You either love Eyman or hate him. I personally loved the guy. He is so accessible, even giving students his cell phone number to FaceTime him if you every need anything, and going to office hours goes a LONG way! You have to work hard, read the syllabus, and go out of your comfort zone. I'm going to miss this class and Eyman.
Eyman is one of the most enjoyable people to be around. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them to succeed. BEWARE THOUGH. The grading consists of three projects. Average work that fulfills the rubric results in a C. These projects require tons of effort in order to get an A.
He reads these reviews in class in a baby voice - student whining is hilarious! If you do the work he isn't a hard grader but if you blow off projects he is tough. Go to office hours, that's the best part of ihis classes. Eyman says he's like a coach preparing us for the future and I can see he does that. Worth the billion hours you put in.
You'll either hate or love it. I got A+ for the first 2 projects thanks to his office hours. Eyman really wants students to understand and use his process and apply it to the projects. Ask him what his expectation is and he'll give you real advice. Respected and passionate teacher. I felt scare in his class at first but I think it's a fun class.
Very passionate about his job and getting students to learn. No boring lectures. Not your typical class
He graded based on what he thought instead of how good your quality of work actually is. I ended with an A at the end of the semester but gave me a B on my transcript and refused to tell me why. He does not care about his students or how much time you put into. He picks favorites and does not teach anything. Worst teacher I have ever had.
He is a great professor that really cares about his students and will help you succeed if you go to him and ask for it, but you have to ask. Graded by 3 main projects, but make sure you turn in solid work for the mini projects with every step you have completed to get there. This will really help your grade and show the time you have put in.
Professor Eyman was the one teacher this year that really cared about his students. He made sure to move deadlines when things got too crazy for us and was there when we needed him. He does only have a few projects a year and they're a lot of work but you learn so much that it's worth it.
You either like Professor Eyman or you don't. He is your typical professor that sits on the table when teaching the class. Don't be fooled when he said the assignments isn't graded... it's graded as participation (maybe) AND are needed for the project as a reference. His textbook (mandatory) are way too expensive for a elementary school textbook.
Professor Eyman is a great guy and a really good professor. He truly cares about his students and their success. Although his grading is only based on the three projects he gives, the assignments are necessary and help toward the final project. He was a great introductory professor to the Farmer School of Business.
Eyman has been one of my favorite professors at Miami. As long as you participate in class and put forth some effort, you'll do well. He really cares for his students and just wants to see them get creative and think critically. 10/10
Eyman is a fun guy, but compared to other ESP teachers, he expects way more and is a harder grader. For your first project idea, make sure its niche and different, not something he would expect. He's such a simple guy, just put a ton of slides on your group project and he'll light up. His lectures are inspirational and captivating I will say.
There are 3 total graded assignments, and he is not nice on the grading. I went to him 3 times for one project, and tried to receive guidance, but the guidance was just showing me other people's projects. The class is a waste of time, and just a test of mental toughness. If you are not one of his favorites... enjoy your C or lower grade.
Does a really good job making sure his class runs like a business. Outstanding work gets a promotion (A), average work gets to stay on the job (C) and mediocrity gets fired (D/F). On top of this, Eyman does a phenomenal job playing the y boss that offers vague or confusing advice and wastes your time before a major deadline.
Eyman is by far the best professor I have had at Farmer. If you are taking an ESP class, make sure it's with him. He is passionate and inspiring. When he talks, I listen. I seriously love this man. I always leave his class pumped up about life and entrepreneurship. His classes have been transformational.
Hes just that GUY.
This man has changed my life. He has helped me discover what I am capable of. You are seriously so lucky to have him as a professor. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!
Great professor! Go to office hours! He's a fun person just to hang out with and will give you the most helpful advice on your projects and is so willing to provide feedback, no reason you shouldn't get an A. Super laid back, most of the time he forgets to collect workbook assignments, so they're semi-optional if you're willing to test your luck.
Best professor at FSB!
Eyman is very involved in his students & takes their feedback on things. If you are confused on an assignment or need clarification or critiquing, I suggest going to see him for office hours because he does anything he can to help. There isn't a lot of clarification on the "guidelines" themselves, but that is just apart of ESP103
Eyman is one of my favorite professors. He is so enthusiastic and can always make you laugh/put a smile on your face. The assignments are usually very difficult and he expects you to go above and beyond (even if it's not stated). He rarely gives 100% because he thinks you can always improve. He really is a good person and values student opinions.
Eyman is an overall great guy and is definitely not your standard teacher (in a good way). The class and some assignments can get confusing at points, but if you're having problems go to his office hours. ACTUALLY go to his office hours. He notices these things and beyond him being very laid back, he'll usually clear up any problems you have.
Eyman is one of the worst professors ever. He actually gives great lecures but his assignments have no directions and no one ever knows what he wants. I had to wait over 2 months to get grades back from this guy, and I ended the semester still having no clue what my grade was. In fact, the semester ended today and I am still missing 7 grades.
Can't say enough about him (in a good way). ESP103 is difficult, but in the best possible way. It's not an easy A, you have to actually work for it. He pushes you to do your best work and opens your mind to new possibilities about being creative. Attendance is not mandatory but he will keep track and is included in your Professional Grade.
Overall, good lecturer, but not a good teacher. Easily most disorganized teacher I've ever had. Felt class time was not used efficiently. Assignment instructions contradicted in-class instructions. T.A. graded almost everything with very vague rubrics. Also felt like grades were based on aesthetics rather than the creativity of the idea itself.
Eyman acts laid back and try's to be cool with everyone but grades insanely hard, no clear syllabus, assignment have zero specific requirements and he will not respond to anyones emails. No tests or quizzes, only projects. Sounds easy, it's not. If you're a suck up to teachers he's for you, if you're not then he won't like you.
In class professor Eyman was amazing. He was always hilarious and making my day. His assignments may have been a bit odd at times, but he taught the class well and made everyone laugh. Great guy.
Lectures are very interesting and enjoyable to listen to but his projects suck. His TA grades obsessively hard and mostly on aesthetic and not on research or the actual idea. He is easily the most disorganized professor I have ever had. Nothing is organized on canvas. If you're one of his favorites you'll have a great semester. If not, good luck.
Eyman is an incredible professor, who will open a "third eye" of creativity and thinking, should you allow him to. Projects are free; you're able to do just about whatever you want. In fact, the projects' content is less important than just playing hard. Utilize the freedom given, play hard, & be excited by the opportunity to make awesome things.
Eyman is one of those professors where you either get this class or you don't. His lectures are interesting, but for me, it kinda all went over my head. The whole point is to have full reign in doing whatever you want for the projects. Great professor, questionable class.
This is a creative thinking class, if you are not willing to at least try to think outside the box, this class is not for you. Eyman is a fantastic professor IF you show you are putting in effort. He was very forgiving and reasonable. Come to office hours, make an honest effort, ask questions and you are sure to have an amazing semester.
This professor is just straight up a G - funny as heck and a great person
SUCH A GOD TEACHER. Learned more in this class than I ever have. Such important skills that have changed my outlook on life and thinking. The class goes beyond a grade on the transcript and sticks with you. Some people think he's hard, but he ALWAYS gives good feedback and is always willing to talk. You get out of this class what you put into it.
Eyman is a GOAT. He is a great dude and he makes class really interesting and fun. You can text or call him at anytime and ask for help.
Eyman is a great professor. This class has helped me think in ways I never have before. You truly get what you put into it. He can grade tough, but his door is always open before due dates. If you go to him he will tell you what needs to be fixed. I highly recommend taking Eyman.
Eyman set the bar so high for the rest of my university professors. I learned so many life skills along with a ton of entrepreneurship concepts that I will take with me for the rest of my life. I 100% recommend taking one of his classes if you have the opportunity. He does untraditional things within his class structure but all of it has a reason.
This professor gives the highest grades to the students who go to his office hours and tell him how gorgeous his hair is everyday. The more he feels confident and pretty the more likely he will get you to pass the class!
Everyday for 2 months he would show up in front of my dorm and make sure I got to class. While walking to class he would scream get away from me and pretend I was stalking him. This caused me to go insane and now I don't think I'll ever walk to class. My parents bought me a car so I wouldn't have to endure that kind of torture again!
Eyman is a good professor who values his students and what they have to offer. Although if you do see him out he will find you and yell creativity at you over and over again until you have to run away. It got so bad where I wasn't able to show my face any more in public because of this. But anyways his class was fun, def recommend.
Nice and will answer emails but wears 2 pairs of glasses. Like whack AF. He will NOT grade things for points NOR give you directions. Like wtf!!!! Anyway he was on weight watchers and cared about WW points so now he doesn't discuss grades due to trauma. He should go back on it. He bought a dodge hornet when he should've bought a wide body hell cat.
I told Eyman I wasn't creative and he stood over me and forced me to write Post-it notes until my hand cramped up and I had to be rushed to the hospital. My parents were pissed about the hospital bill they moved me to community college. And I now have to wear a cast for two years.
Bru stole all my expo markers and smashed the tips in so they werent sniffable. He then stole da yart then hid it behind his glasses. I was huffin glue and he asked to join and ate all the gluz. I ran away and lowk sobbed but it all worked out cause we hit sum blue raspberry Galaxy gas outside Bruno's with the huz and world of tshirts. 10/10 guy
Eyman is a pretty chill prof but idk dudes kinda sus ngl. I was walking back at night and saw him on all fours howling at the moon wearing nothing? I asked him about it the next day in class and idk if i'm tripping but I swear the dude barked at me. I think next class I might bring some peanut butter or something and see if he slips up.
You think baby gronk has rizz? This guy MR. Eyamn had multiple OF gyatts surrounding his desk on the first day. He truly puts the FANUM in TAX. He had a great lecture on edging.
He called us his ducklings and made us quack every time we came into class otherwise we were marked absent
The worst thing about his class is that when we leave class he makes us, one by one, cartwheel out of the door and if it wasn't good we have to go to the end of the line and wait to get out.
David Eyman, cool dude, but he made me get down on one knee, look one of my high school crushes in the eye, and PROPOSE to him. EYMAN PLEASE JUST LET ME MOVE ON I'M BEGGING YOU.
Eyman used to make us bear crawl outside for extra credit, and Eyman made us propose to a student in class (down on one knee and everything)
it feels like he wanted to be a kindergarten teacher but somehow ended up here .. playing with legos in class is not what i expected to be doing in college. His mind is an interesting place, sometimes it feels like my professor is an escapee from a psych ward. 2 pairs of glasses on his head, and a weird obsession with post-its.
Professor Eyman shares the importance of creativity within all business industries. His lessons go beyond the classroom and help you think into your personal life. He is one of the best, most supportive professors I've experienced at Miami. You have to work hard, but your hard work will pay off tenfold. Go to office hours. Take risks. Meet people.
Eyeman is a stud. Classes are enjoyable to go to and his lectures are very interesting. He changes your thinking and makes you more confident. You should try to participate because he does notice. Few long assignments but not bad if you manage time well.
Worst professor I've ever had to learn from has no idea what he's doing and no idea what he's teaching
Teaching style is horrible, decides to ignore emails if he doesn't feel like responding, office hours are mandatory and you better be ready to become a professional on the Skin Flute. Projects have absolutely no rubric or grading. Lectures about creativity and useless slides the entire time. I would not wish this teacher on ANYONE.
Terrible in terms of clear grading. Its one of the most frustrating college classes ever and ive taken a ton of them. Hes a super nice guy, but unfortunately if you arent a girl, AND attend office hours, you will get your work shredded without reason, even when you work extremely hard on it. Claims "Grades dont matter". Nice guy, Bad professor
He is an awesome guy and loves his students! Definitely a hard class with lots of projects but he want everyone to succeed in his class for sure.
Eyman is an awesome guy. He wants us all to succeed no matter what are truly puts his students first. He will talk you through projects, school, a job, a tough class and LIFE. He has been there no matter what. He truly is my college dad. He gives life advice, like a dad. Also, the funniest professor ever. He reminds me of Adam Sandler lowkey. 10/10
Professor Eyman is one of, if not the best, professor I've had. His class is engaging and inspirational. His style of teaching is very hands-on and involves a lot of group work. He uses lots of brainstorming techniques to inspire creativity among his students. The grading of his projects is hard and they require lots of time, but I learn a lot.
Honestly my least favorite thing about this class is leaving. Eyman makes class so fun and entertaining, I have never laughed so hard in a class. You can tell he genuinely cares for his students. He has an obsession with post-its and I've never seen him without two pairs of sunglasses on his head.
Eyeman is a one of a kind professor. You will never catch him without two pairs of sunglasses on his head, and this class flies by. He cares about everyone succeeding, and makes sure that you step out of your comfort zone. Make sure you have post it notes, and come ready for a fun time if you take his class.
This guy thinks he knows the secrets of the universe or something and consistently will talk about creative processes and how they will change your life forever. I knew exactly what I was getting into when I walked in and this guy had two pairs of glasses on his head.
Professor Eyman is a great guy that really cares about his students, although if you slack off and show no effort he will not let you slack off with a good grade. If you have any interest in entrepreneurship this is a very interesting and amazing class that I would recommend to anyone. Get ready to do some things you might find wierd at first.
Dr. Eyman made this class fun, interactive, and helpful to our business knowledge. He did a great job of making sure we were paying attention and cares a lot about each and every one of his students. He is a great teacher and person.
Eyman was a very fun teacher, who got our creative juices flowing. He cares about each of his students, and although projects are tough and sometimes hard to follow, he makes you think and brainstorm, tapping into your creative potential. While adding the fun aspect to some classes, creativity is the most important part of the class.
Eyman is an awesome professor. His lectures can be repetitive but they are super important to attend. Grading varies a lot because sometimes the instructions are unclear. Just make sure to participate and always be as creative as possible if you are looking to get a good grade.
He was a very good professor. He cares about your other classes, and if you need an extension due to an exam or a lot of work, he will give one if needed. Tough grader, but if you're creative and put time into it, you'll do good. Not a lot of homework. Mainly projects. Really nice guy and easy to talk to.
Eyman and this course are like an entrepreneurship textbook with colorful scribbles everywhere—hear me out. You learn everything you need to know through collaborative discussions and participation. But with a twist: Eyman teaches you to go outside the 'textbook lines' and solve problems creatively. (No textbook is required—just an analogy.)
He's caring and hilarious. One time I skipped class to sleep, and 10 minutes after the class started, there's a knock at my door. It's Eyman - with the entire class behind him. He held class in my dorm room. He literally said to me, “If you won't come to class, class will come to you”. He is such a great guy.
Eyman's class has been beneficial in many ways during my time with him. My view of what entrepreneurship is has notably changed since taking this course. Time in spent in the class room is laid back and slower paced, all around a good time.
Eyman is a professor who actually cares for his students and encourages office hours. He expects a lot from his students projects has he wants them to be creative and exciting which is sometimes challenging but I a way that makes you think and overcome. He wants the class you be your own journey and he's there to guide you.
Eyman is a good teacher who doesn't use tests, which is nice. His class doesn't have a lot of structure, but that's just how he likes to teach. It can be a bit unpredictable, so be ready for that. If you like a laid back vibe and don't mind the freedom, his class is a good choice; prepare to be creative.
Completing his assignments is like throwing a dart at a dartboard blindfolded. There are no directions or rubric and his grading is subjective. I think he values the look of your project and how long it took you to complete it instead of the quality of your ideas. He is a nice guy who makes his class fun but I personally dislike his assignments.
Eyman is a very caring and respectful teacher. He is always trying to find ways to bring the creativity out of you. One time I was sick and had to miss class and Eyman showed up to my door and created a cure to make me feel better, but he would only give it to me if I did a backflip and and walked around the room like a gorilla. Crazy stuff!
I have Eyman this semester and I love the class it doesn't feel like class but something you'd get excited about. I really like him as a professor and a teacher and always doing something different and new every class and project. I would definitely suggest him for this course you get a lot out of it and develop relationships.
I skipped class once and Eyman showed up at my dorm with the whole class, held lecture on my carpet, and used my microwave as a whiteboard. Later, we pitched ideas to a goldfish named Steve while a guy in a gorilla suit played bongos “to simulate market pressure.” Not sure if it was a class or a cult but I'd do it again.
He is obsessed with sticky notes
He's obsessed with sticky notes
Eyman's class specializes in teaching you that your own public humiliation is worth while as long as it's recorded.
Eyman is not just a professor—he's a vibe. He really takes the time to listen to what you're trying to say, even when you're not totally sure how to say it. One time, I came in stressed about a project, and he pulled out a disco ball, played Pitbull remixes, and said, “Let's brainstorm… with vibes.” Unforgettable!
Let it be known that Eyman truly cares about the experience that his students will have in his class. He asks students about how they are doing, which almost always sparks conversation in the class. Lastly, Eyman is obsessed with sticky notes and stresses the importance of utilizing them.
ESP 103 is a unique class which I enjoyed a lot. The things you learn in the class go beyond the business school, he teaches you skills that can be applied to all aspects of your life. I can confidently say that Professor Eyman is a great professor, and he has challenged me into becoming the best person I can possibly be.
Eyman grades on you based on how creative your creations are, if you ever find yourself doing your first idea you are probably not on the right path.
David Eyman is an incredible professor who teaches you to embrace creative thinking and step out of your comfort zone. His class is transformative, helping you better understand yourself and your outlook on life. Stranded in the wilderness with just sticky notes and a Sharpie? His class might just save your life.
Probably the most unique teacher I have ever had in my life and in a good way. We didn't spend our classes going over notes or studying for a test we learn how to be more creative and learn skills that are actually important in the world of business
Eyman's class is game changing. He encourages creativity and self-discovery, providing you with the tools to face life's unexpected challenges. With his help, even the most difficult things become solvable with a Sharpie and some imagination.
Eyman has cultivated the way I think about learning.I went into the class thinking that I was not a creative person, and this class would be a space where I am forced to get out of my comfort zone, where I even had to give an impromptu PechaKucha in front of the whole class. There is never not a good time to laugh or to express your true self.
While I was only allowed to associate three tags with him please note that not only his class but Eyman himself constitute for many more. He has amazing lectures, is a very engaging and caring person with an extreme dedication to the class and the students. He has a jovial personality and really pushes the average student out of their comfort zone!
He is exactly like Sikowitz from Victorious in the best way possible. Has all of the great teaching/caring characteristics and they literally teach the same thing. He really cares about his students and is on your side for everything. He wants to see you succeed and is someone who will always advocate for you. Gets you out of your shell!!!!
I was confused about what Eyman expected from us and what the class was really about. This class is not about your creativity levels and what you consider creative, it is about your ability to go beyond that. You are forced out of your comfort zone but he has showed us that that's what creativity is really about. Never a dull moment in this class.
LUV DAVID EYMAN :3 he's the reason that my house didn't burn down in the Palisades fire. also he was a good professor. pretty funny; relentlessly cheerful, but only cause he wants the best for his students though. be prepared to work hard on projects and textbook reading as well. he gives you his number at the start. USE IT. Signed, Odie the Dog
LUV DAVID EYMAN :3 hes the reason my home in cali didnt burn down during the palisades fire. hes a good professor whos funny; he has a relentlessly cheery disposition that make fun lectures. he does care about his students' success, and he proves that because he gives you his number at the start of the semester. USE IT. Signed, Odie the Dog
Eyman is great. Loves and cares for each and every student!
He grades very tough but inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to your creative limits.
He inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and be creative, he's a very hard grader though
This class can cure social anxiety.
This teacher doesn't just teach lessons, they create experiences that push you beyond your limits in the best way. Every class is full of surprises: spontaneous challenges, real-time thinking, and chances to grow fast. It's exciting, energizing, sometimes a little wild, but always worth it.
I didn't know what to expect for this class as when I walked in he was wearing two pairs of glasses. But i learned that this class is more than just thinking creatively, it's about thinking outside of the box and and learning how not to be basic as basic is boring.
How to describe David Eyman? He is an interesting character, one who shows up to class with more glasses than he knows what to do with... This is the kind of man who will ask the most wild things on his attendance sheets while he teaches you the importance of thinking on your feet. Still in the end he's one of the best teachers you can ask for!
Eyman truly cares about all his students and wants us to do our best. He is always looking to help us out and always wants us to do our best possible work. He holds you to a high standard but it makes you shock yourself after you put together a great project.
Great teacher, you can tell he cares and really loves his job. Throughout his class he will show you how to be interactive/ social and force you to get out of your comfort zone. He does grade very hard because of the expectations he has of you not doing a project the way everyone else does but would rather you think outside the box.
Day in and day out, Professor Eyman's class was full of enticing material and always included surprises. Eyman is the type of professor that has you on the edge of your seat because he presents his material in a very enticing and interesting way. I would definitely take this class again and hope others feel the same.
Great Teacher, very caring and considerate of the students
Truly an incredible speaker and professor! The Key: Don't limit yourself. Do proper work and show that you care. Build creative solutions and projects and you will do WELL!
Eyman is GREAT! He cares about every single student, but you need to show that you care too. Participate in class and dont "this is stupid" your way through it. Taking Eyman's 103 class convinced me to do the ESP co-major instead of the minor. Favorite professor.
Easily the best professor I have ever had. Tough grader, so GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Gives extensions, but you have to be honest about where you messed up. Everything is project-based. Ambiguous instructions to allow creativity. Put effort, a powerpoint won't do it unless you reflect a lot. Pay attention because some assignments aren't on Canvas.
Wonderful professor if you have chance to get to know him
