I had him for two math classes and he is just such a good teacher. He makes the class fun and tim goes by really fast. I would recommend you take him if you get a chance. He loves to help and wants to make sure you understand everything. I felt it was an easy A because he is all about testing on the same level that he teaches you.

LOVE HIM! He really tries to explain what is going on. He doesn't like to trick you, and tests on what he's taught. He really cares about whether or not you understand the material and is very willing to help. Tests are open note/ open book!

Wonderful, wonderful teacher. I saw him help every single person in my class at least once, he is likeable and approachable and cares more than anything about you and the kids you will someday teach. He is dorky and proud of it which makes the class that much more comfortable. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Fies is a pretty lenient fellow for Graphing Calculator Topics. You can use your notes for the in-class tests. He is a very easy grader on your presentation. This class is very helpful if you are planning to be a teacher and have very little experience with graphing calculators. The class is pretty easy but attendance is mandatory.

Mr. Fies is a pretty lenient fellow for Comp Math Topics. He gives you many chances to turn in your assignments and make corrections if need be. Nonetheless some are hard. He is a very easy grader on your presentation. This class is very helpful if you are planning to be a teacher and use Geometer's Sketchpad. Attendance is mandatory.

Took for Calc. and comp math topics. He brings in good teaching ideas for future math teachers. Classes are fairly easy. Did take a lot from his courses. Will recommend to anyone.

Proffeser Fies is a wonderful teacher, if I am half as understanding and patient with my students it will be awesome! He explains what you need to learn for the test, you can use notes and if you have questions hes very helpful! Also maybe 1 hw of 5 problems,journals which are easy and thats about it! Definately reccommended!

David Fies is one of my favorite professors I have ever had. His teaching methods are understandable for students who are horrible and or dislike math. He knows his material and is passionate about it. I highly recommend his class very easy A, and is enjoyable to attend!

Fies is such a nice guy, he reminds me more of a highschool teacher than a professor. He really cares if you understand, he's easy to talk to and he makes math easier for those of us who consider math a foreign language. you don't need the textbook at all! didn't use it once. but you DO need mymathlab. tests are easy. gives lots of hw questions.

This pro. is a really good teacher. He makes things really clear and if you don't get it he will take the time to explain it to you. Attendance is mandatory because he has a sign in sheet, I wouldn't advise you to get the book because you wont use it. All the work is on mathlab except the test of course. Also he gives chances to make up test grades

Really great prof. He is super nice and goes over problems until everyone understands. I wouldnt buy the book b/c you have to buy mymathlab and that has textbook access. He gives very few tests and he allows cheat sheets, attendance is mandatory, one freebie. DO NOT wait to do your hw it is bulky and will add up, but its not due until final.

I love math but I have to say it is a difficult course just to keep with the work overall he is a great teacher always their to help with anything but you make ur own grade meaning you have to do all the work in mymathlab to get a good grade

Extremely nice person and very helpful. Attendance is a must! He gives you all his powerpoint notes which is very helpful. He does tend to lecture fast so it is best to print off the notes so you don't have to worry about writing everything. His online quizzes and tests allow for multiple attempts. I made an A+ in the class.

BEST CLASS EVER!! Lectures go by really fast and I honestly couldn't keep up, but all homework is online and you have infinite tries so I pretty much learned the subject through doing the hw. Quizes are super easy if you do the hw and you can re-take them 3 times and when he knows it was hard he gave us more chances aka BEST TEACHER EVER TAKE HIM!!

This class is very easy, Fies has a sense of humor and tries his best to make sure everyone is on the same page before he moves on. Attendance is mandatory because it is part of your grade. You only get one free miss, and after that they count against you. I bought the book and haven't opened it once. Would recommend for an easy A. Online homework

Great Teacher

Best professor for Algebra for scientist and engineers. If you have a question ask, Dr. Fies encourages them and is always happy to help. make sure to show up to class because he takes points off every time you miss class, but after the first week or so you will want to go to his class because of his personality.

Overall, his grading criteria made it practically impossible to get a bad grade. Posts all notes online and allows multiple attempts for quizzes and tests which are both online. I never paid attention in class, but would just teach myself the material through the examples on mymathlab while doing homework. Easy A.

Early test grades are replaced with later test grades if they are higher -Posts his notes online -Mandatory attendance, 2% final grade deduction after the two free absences he gives -Very good at teaching, cracks jokes during lectures, responds to email -Lots of grade inflation. You'd have to REALLY slack to get a bad grade.

Dr. Fies has such a sweet heart! He cracks some jokes every now and then to keep the class lighthearted since math can be tough to many students. He knows his stuff very well but most importantly can teach it in a way were everyone can understand. MyMath Lab can be excessive if you let it pile up so its best to do the homework consistently.

Fies was and will be the greatest math professor I've had. He is so sweet, loves what he does and always makes sure that he is there for us! I am not the one for math and he made me want to show up every time I had class. He lets us use calculators and cheat sheets on our tests and final. I would definitely take again! You'll enjoy math and him.

Prof. Fies is, hands down, my favorite math teacher I have ever had. He actually cares about his students passing. He is really funny and he likes to make class fun as well. I highly recommend him! Even if you have weak algebraic skills, you can pass his class! He does take attendance but it won't seem like a chore going to his class!

He is a really cool professor. Professor Fies is the best teacher since I started at UTSA! He's a sweet man and goes out of his way if you need to meet with him! Gives a lot of homework but no way you will fall it. Lectures are pretty boring but he appreciated you showing up for class and says so everyday. Multiple tries on tests and exams (except final) Really hard to fail!!

He's so helpful. All homework and quizzes are online (don't need textbook just the access code). The final is in class but the 2 other tests are part in class and part online. The tests have a couple questions that won't count against you. For example a test with 33 questions total, you get 28/33-- he'll take 28/30.

This class was extremely easy. The tests were easier than the actual notes or homework. He posts notes online. Math lab homework can be long but it helps a lot. Quizzes and tests online, along with an easy written part of the test that is easier than the notes or homework. i would definitely take again

Professor Fies was super helpful! He lets you have a cheat sheet for tests, and the tests are online and 1/4 of it is in class. He does take attendance, but sometimes lets you out early. He will answer any questions you ask, and he makes math seem easy!

If you can't pass his class then you're pretty much a lost cause. His class is so easy that it almost puts you at an advantage over other students. Just do the HW, which can be tedious but you have unlimited shots at each question to ensure a 100. Quizzes and Tests are online as well and you get multiple shots at them as well. Anyone can get an A.

really cool teacher. even when he just finished explaining something and a someone didn't understand, he doesn't mind explaining again through a different perspective

Best decision I've made this year was dropping another proff for Fies. Tests are partially online (roughly 70% with multiple attempts) and the rest is in class, but you can use a graphing calculator & are allowed to make a cheat sheet. Quizzes are online. Final is in class though. Have to make a math vid which is worth 10% of grade, but it's EASY

Fies was great when his office hours conflicted with my schedule he offered to stay until after my class so that he could help me. He is pretty clear in his lectures and as long as you do the homework the test are easy. By far my favorite professor this semester.

Mr. Fies (Dave) is truly an amazing teacher. He's a great lecturer and does what he can to make sure everyone is on track. Sat in the second row and got a chance to know him. A really cool dude. I accidentally missed the final due to date mix ups, and he was kind enough to let me retake it at a later date. An amazing human and teacher.

He's a very nice professor, takes time explaining each slide over his PowerPoints and likes to make sure people understand what he's saying. If you ask him to explain a problem again or go back on a slide he'll do it, he really is very nice. When I was in his class, the test we had were some questions in class and the rest was online.

He really does teach and a good majority of the test is online. A small portion is in class! He allows a sheet for each test for formulas! He's truly the best!

hes a great dude, its pretty much basic algebra until chapter 6 then it gets pretty hard but not to hard. one big project at the end of the year but he doesn't change the project so you can find past students who have done it online.

I took fies for stem in social context. He is very flexible and easy, there are quizzes off the readings six questions each week (easy) and also reading question comprehension(easy) two books needed one group project (easy ) if you need this class take him!!!

Professor Fies is BY FAR the best math professor I've ever had the opportunity to learn under. His grading rubric is straight forward, unlimited attempts on all homework assignments. If you signed up or were assigned Professor Fies, the math gods have worked wonders in your favor. Your GPA will skyrocket if you show up (mandatory), study and pass!

Fies is a great professor and this class was extremely fun and enjoyable. Took this course in four weeks over the summer so it was really fast-paced, but still done at a speed at which everything made sense. His lectures were nice, simple, and straight to the point. Do what he wants for your assignments and you'll get an A. He allows corrections.

He was one of my favorite professors I've had. The homework is not too hard and gives you the whole semester to work on it so you do it at your own pace. The test were easy especially if you do the homework that lead up to that certain test, I guarantee you will pass.

Dr. Fies was the BEST Pre-Cal professor ever!!! He was funny but taught on your level. He made everything clear and understandable. If you do well in the homework and quizzes you can easily pass. He is happy to answer emails and give great comments. His humor and connection to the students make the class fun to attend.

The absolute GOAT. Makes his tests fair and easy. The final project was fair and easy, took about 30 minutes. The final exam was absolute cake, I only missed one question and for the last few months of the class I was never there (I had my friend sign me in). Hes caring and understanding of his students . 10/10

Prof. fies is the nicest man i have ever met in my life. he could literally teach a baby how to do precal. I dont think its possible to get less than a B in his class. I learned A LOT in his class & i really enjoyed it. he has lots of little tricks too!

He really cares about his students! You do pay for access to the HW, quizzes, & tests. His lectures aren't mandatory, but really helped me better understand the content. Test are very similar to the quizzes! He gives you lots of chances to better your grade by having many chances to take the quizzes & gives you weeks to get the homework done.
