He really helps you to feel at ease speaking in front of the class. I think he realizes that we are in this class because we have to be and he is determined to get us through it!

I waited until my last semester to take speech. If I had known how nice of a teacher he was, I would have taken speech earlier. He gets you very comfortable with speaking in front of others and is constantly joking around to put people at ease.

Fitzgerald is an awesome teacher. I dreaded speech class but he made it fun and exciting. I only had four speeches and they were easy. The class I prolonged the most I got an A in. He makes you feel very comfortable while speaking.

Mr.Fitzgerald was great! I took him for speech last semester and he made me feel very comfortable in front of the class. Pretty much an easy grader- just make sure you study for the mid-term and final, even though he offers plenty of extra credit!!

Speech sucks but it's not his fault. He is a fun teacher. Makes it clear what is expected. I was only nervous about the first speech. After that everyone knew each other so it wasnt any big deal. The midterm and final are kind of hard though. I recomend him to anyone needing speech

Mr Fitzgerald is hands down the best Speech professor at SPC. He makes you feel comfortable, and it's true that his tests ARE hard - luckily he offers ALOT of extra credit. Teaching style is great, very funny, and makes public speaking very easy and stress free. Don't waste your time with oher speech teachers, he's the best there is.

Even if you do not like speaking at all, as long as you put forth a good effort you should do okay in this class. Exams were the most difficult part of the class. Midterm was somewhat unclear and did not include what was in the notes but regardless of exams still did very well in class.

I think this teacher is great. He is one of those teachers that want you to do well. this class is the most interesting one I took yet.

Professor Fitzgerald was amazing! I was so scared to take speech..the thought of it made me sick to my stomach! He made it seem liek no big deal, just made the classroom environment feel at ease... Funny, great guy!!! Def recommend! you can always have an outlinein front of you...dont really have to memorize.

Mr Fitzgerald was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. I was one of those people not great at public speaking. He has a great sense of humor. Even if your not great a making a speech as long as you put a good effort into it your fine. I would highly recommend him for a speech teacher!

Mr. Fritzgerald is an awesome teacher. I was so afraid to speak in front of people. But the way he set things up and the way he explains things gives you confidence. If you are afarid of public speaking this is the guy you should take especially if you want to excel!

HE IS THE BEST SPEECH TEACHER EVER! very relaxing enviroment and only 4 easy speeches. Makes everything clear and understanding. I had fun in his class there was no pressure of any kind. If you want an A and learn about speech this is a great class. All speech teachers should be like him. :)

Very enthusiastic and nice personality. His mid-term is a killer, but overall good class. I hate speaking in front of people and he is very compassionate for those like me. Final was much easier....overall great teacher.

if you got speech issues you better take him. He is very understanding, just do your speech and come to class. This is a def A/B class. Oh yeah the book.. dont buy it! i never even used it. He gives you all the notes youll need. If you just wanna get it over with, take him. Hes realllly a funny/great guy.

he is great! Two test based on his lectures, 4 speeches. I was scary to speak, as English is not my primary language, but he is very understanding, and I did all my speeches with A, and got an A in this class. tests are hard, but if you prepare you will do well.

he is such a great professor. he makes the class comfortable with each other. he grades pretty easy, but the tests are pretty difficult. the movie questions are kind of confusing, but i still got a's on both assignments.

If you are afraid of speech, this is the professor to take! 4 speeches, a mid term, final and two short homework. Mid term and final are a little hard but you should not have a problem with getting an A on every speech. Just follow his instructions for formatting the speeches. EXCELLENT professor!

Outstanding instructor - highly recommended. On point, helpful, all the tools are provided - you just have to do the work and get up there and knock out your speeches. Keeps things very interesting and ties in real life with the subject matter. If you have trouble speaking in front of people Dr Fitzgerald will put you at ease.

Awesome teacher!! This class was by far one of the easiest classes I have ever taken, and yet it was the one I was most afraid to take. He is very understanding, and reasonable when it comes to giving the actual speech. I would recommend this class for anyone who is dreading speech! EASY A!

OMG!!! you will not regret for taking his class. you will definitely get an A if you do the point that he wants you to prensent on your presentation. you will soak on all of his speech. an easy class. he's very helpful with people having a fear of speaking and takes that into account during your speech. I'm not sure about the other post about not being able to speak because you were late- if you call him (even 10 min before class) and let him know; he'll accomodate you and work with you.NO work aside from speeches and tests.easy A

Easy class. Took over summer. Only three speeches. Final and Mid Term are easy. Gives study guide. Boring when other people are presenting though. But overall easy class just PRACTICE your speeches and time them he's big on time.

Not a bad teacher. Full term classes have four papers, mid-term and a final. Class is generally boring, but better than com. If do well on your speeches and study for the mid-term and final you should have an "A".

excellent teacher, very clear on what he expects gives example speeches and outlines. midterm and final are mostly common sense and based right off the powerpoints and study guides. Only boring part was when other people were presenting, but definately watch your time limits in this class. Would take him again.

This class as very interesting. The professor does a great job helping people feel comfortable with public speaking. For the midterm and final, just study the items that are on the review sheet he gives you and you will do fine.

I took Professor Fitzgerald for intro to speech. It was a blended class which required a weekly forum and then 4 speeches in the term. READ THE BOOK then youll pass the tests. Make sure you follow the rubric. A perfect speech wont get a perfect score without perfect outlines and technical things on the rubric.Overall interesting professor and class

He is amazing! Truly a very helpful professor! He cares about his students and grades fairly. Forgot an outline to one speech and had to wing it, still got a B. Speeches are easy and he gives you plenty of time! Textbook use is minimal.

He gives you an outline to and a guideline to follow for each speech (4 total). If you follow these, you will do very well. A midterm and a final along with 2 small assignments (one was Extra Credit) help to balance the grading, he is very lenient in grading speeches; I hated public speaking before his class but he made the class very enjoyable.

Great teacher and makes the class atmoshere very relaxing for those who fear speaking allowed. Highly encourage taking his class if you don't feel comfortable before crowds. Very knowledgeable, hands down favorite class so far.

HANDS DOWN A GREAT TEACHER! I'm currently taking him now for his express summer course. There are only 2 speeches, one paper, and a final. I absolutely hate talking in front of crowds, but he really makes you feel comfortable. He's very fair with grades. I would def recommend taking him! He is also very humorous, which makes the class enjoyable :)

Great class. I was "afraid" of taking this class - do not like to talk in front of crowds but he is a wonderful teacher and makes everyone feel comfortable with their speeches. I definitely recommend summer session - not as many speeches. Follow the guidelines he gives you and you will do great. Make sure to study for tests - can be tricky.

Just an awesome professor, makes giving speeches easy with a relaxed attitude. He tells you what you he expects in your speeches but gives you a lot of freedom to choose a topic; 4 speeches, 1 midterm, and a final... Overall my favorite class of the semester.

He is a great teacher, he really cares about his students and the grades they get. His 1/2 online and in class is the class that I am enrolled in and every week as long as you answer the questions and follow the guidelines for his work you get an A! Not a hard grader either, just do what he expects which is clear if you go to class.

Great Teacher!I have extreme panic and anxeity disorder. The 1st time I took speech i had to withdraw b/c the teacher was so intimidating mr. fitzgerald makes you feel so comfortable and does a great job teaching. I would never have believed I could get an A in speech but the teacher makes the difference. Great teacher don't take anyone else!!!

He was great!!! I wouldn't take any other professor for this. I passed because of how easy he makes it. Still work to be done, but nothing like the first time I took this class. I failed with a different professor. Thank Goodness I found this professor on my second attempt. And I HATED speech!! If you are DISTANCE student, TAKE THIS GUY!!!

GREAT PROFESSOR! Very relaxed and cooperative. Easy. Just do the speeches, and online work. A lot of students have dropped his class due to stage fright but don't let that deter you. You'll get use to speaking in front of the class. I've never liked speaking in front of people but I had to adjust if I wanted to pass. Love this Professor !

GREAT PROFESSOR! Couldn't of asked for a better one. Keeps the class interesting and very much understands stage fright. If you have to take a speech class I would definitely recommend him.

Hands down, one of my favorite teachers on campus. He's very understanding and easy-going. Don't regret taking him at all. As long as you put in the effort, he'll notice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very helpful and clearly enjoys teaching this class. Grades generously on speeches provided you seem prepared. Be sure to study for the mid-term and final though, they're taken from the book material and the class focuses a lot more on speeches than lecture so you have to keep up with the reading.

Reading the bad comments on here, I think the students probably just didn't do their work. With every speech, he gives you a rubric so you know what to do. Instructions are clear. The class was so easy as long as you do your work. The book is needed. I recommend him, he is a really good teacher!

I rather enjoyed this class - he was very energetic 99% of the time and seemed passionate about communication. Very interesting class! He is quick to give his input and to put in grades which is a great thing. Also a really relaxed class so you don't have to flip out about everything.

4 Presentations: Introductory, Informative, Persuasive, & Ceremonial. There is enough info in the text to do well. Weekly quizzes & online discussions. Discussions based on 5 Communication principles that are NOT spelled out in the book. About 1/4 of the questions on the Mid-Term & the Final are not in the text.

I'll keep it brief. He is fair on his grading and the workload for his online class was very reasonable. He responds to questions quickly and grades within a few days of the due date. What else can you ask for?

He's verbally dramatic and humorous at times. Understands students fear of speaking in public and is reassuring. Expects you know, but does NOT teach how to speak or do powerpoints. Expects Professional presentations, proper research papers & citing sources. Teaches mostly from book. Best if you ask him questions & follow his instructions.

He was a great teacher. I loved his class. He really made Public Speaking fun. If you don't read the book to study for a test you will still get a B or C.

Dr. Fitzgerald is a great teacher with a lot of experience. I took his Introduction to Public Speaking course. It was very easy. However he does not coach you on overcoming fears of public speaking. He lectures, gives an assignment, and you're expected to speak.

Prof. Fitzgerald is kind of spastic, but he knows the material, and he is very willing to help anyone in need during his many office hours. The material is very logical (kind of like math) if you get it, an A+ is easy, but if not, you will need to rely on Youtube, office hours, and classmates who get it. HE WILL HELP! visit during office hours!

Dr. Fitzgerald is an amazing professor. He allows you to choose your own topics for speeches and he does a wonderful job at easing anxieties regarding presenting your speeches. He is creative with his assignments and tries to keep the course interesting. I found him to be very motivating. He is an upbeat and positive person. I highly recommend him.

A very good instructor who loves what he does and enjoys being in the classroom. Very clear presentation of course content and very fast at getting things graded and posted.

Dr. Fitzgerald also works with the drama department at SPC and his blended class had all of us laughing and enjoying the process of public speaking. Conciseness and clarity is very important to him. He provides outlines and rubrics for everything so it was very easy to craft an "A" speech. My APA citation skills also improved greatly.

His class is pretty easy if you take the time to do what he asks. He has quizzes that you have to read the book for. A midterm, a final, and three speeches. He is funny and tries to keep the class fresh. He understands that we aren't professional speakers and grades like it. He is really passionate and understanding. I would take him again.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a great teacher. He grades very easily and it's quite easy to write an "A" speech. However, every week there is a 4 paragraph discussion post (not too bad) and a quiz. The quizes were quite confusing to me, as they were worded very confusingly. But, I never got lower than a 90 on a quiz (only 10 quesitions). All in all easy class

A very good teacher! I always enjoyed going to his classes. My only complaint was that the quizzes were very hard to pass even reading the chapters assigned to the quiz. If you do all of the other work like asks though it is very easy to pass his class.

Mandatory recorded speeches with audience. No audience, points taken off. Discussion posts, chapter quizzes. Easy A if you do every assignment. However, his online discussions are unorganized. Duplicate places to post and some instructions are unclear. Cites in APA 6th Edit and will grade you on it.

Professor Fitzgerald is a great teacher and easy to get in contact with. He is a detailed and quick grader. His class is requires weekly discussion posts on a variety of topics as well as your weekly quiz. Turn you homework in on-time and you will pass. I highly recommend Professor Fitzgerald!

Before taking this class I was SUPER anxious for speech. I basically put it off till the last possible minute. I have severe public speaking anxiety and just the thought of having to take a speech class would make me unable to sleep sometimes. I took his online public speaking class and it was super easy. I had no difficulties doing any of the work. The quiz answers are all found in the textbook and there are 3 "speeches". First speech was record by myself and I could read off the paper. Second speech was in front of 6 people only 5 minutes long. And the last wasn't even a speech it was just a research paper. So there was only one speech I had to memorize and that made me feel SO much better about everything. I would highly recommend him if you have speech anxiety like I do. Was a great professor and I would definitely take him again if I needed to!

Super easy speeches! For the summer term, only had to do 2 and an essay and hes a super easy grader.

I took speech online because I DO NOT like public speaking. This class was actually enjoyable and taught me several things. You will have to do 2 speeches in front of an audience of 8, another speech over powerpoint. I recommend you getting in a group with someone in your online class and meeting up for your speeches. Overall a good class.

We had a 2 speeches in front of an audience of 8, and one through powerpoint. Not bad at all. Everything was clear and laid out. Very organized on MyCourses. Would definitely take again. Easy A if you do the work!

This was my 3rd time taking this class and Fitzgerald was the absolute best. You have 4 speeches. 2 in front of a mandatory 8 member aud, 1 one PwrPnt with voiceover, and 1 ceremonial. This is a Gordon Rule class so there are 2 big papers but if you follow the layout he provides, you'll be fine. several quizzes, follow the rubrics and you'll pass.

This was by far the hardest class I've taken in two years at SPC. It was an online summer 6 week class. There is about 4 assignments per week which where a lot of work and his chapter quizzes were quite difficult. You definitely have to work for your grade and the amount of work you put into this class will reflect your grade.

Professor Fitzgerald is Awesome ! I took Public Speaking online & he made it fun and interesting. Our speaking topics were always something worth speaking about. He is VERY clear on the requirements to pass each assignment. Follow the grading rubric/requirements that he provides & youre sure to get an A.

He gave me a 75% on my first speech but he told me what I needed to do to improve. There are 2 papers. 4 speeches. No mid term or final. Dont expect him to give you a 100% on anything. I always got a 98% on the papers and my last to speeches. other than that easy A

I had him for an 8 week super easy public speaking class. I will say he is very nice and responds to emails well. But BEWARE 2-3 of the speeches for the class REQUIRE you to gather an 8 person audience and take a video of it. I wouldnt have taken this class if I knew that. If you feel awkward about that definitely think about it.

Very easy course. Each week you had 1 module to complete. Usually consisting of reading a few chapters, a quiz on at least one of the chapters, maybe a video, and a discussion post. Professor Fitzgerald provided grades and feedback very quickly, and the grading is very generous. 3 speeches with no requirement for others in the room.

Bro is awesome. There is 3 speeches you have to give throughout the semester. He understands that not everyone is a good speaker. Class is straightforward. Like 4 quizes total, 3 speechs, 2 papers, a midterm, and a final.

Professor Fitzgerald is funny, patient, and engaging. The content was easy to learn and he keeps a less interesting topic enjoyable. He is also kind, and became a reference for me in the future for a scholarship. Grading is fair and he isn't a tough grader when it comes to papers.
