Very hard material, doesnt teach it as well as he should. each test contans about 8 chapters which makes it impossible. I got a 61.
He's a very hard teacher, he expects you to have the research background that he has for the test. only 10% of the class passed his first exam with a D or better.
the material is hard and he he makes it harder. he doesnt explain things well, just reads from the ppt. he does try to make sure people dont fail by giving ec quizzes and a make up exam.
This guy has no clue how to teach material in a way that is easy to understand.I suggest picking another teacher.
Yes, it is a difficult class, but he's very approachable. I had to bring a tape recorder which I definitely recommend because he goes through material very fast. You just have to put A LOT of study time into it.He's a really nice guy but it's hard!
I absolutely hated this teacher. I have a 2 yr degree in biology and that is my major here. I am a senior and am failing this class. He just reads the ppt. slides and goes through the material very fast. I give him 2 thumbs down!
Challenging material that's impossible to learn when the instructor reads the slides to you. Everyone failed the tests, which were poorly written. Aviod this teacher! Good guy, AWFUL teacher, if you can call him that since he doesn't exactly "teac
I think Dr. Flory was an excellent teacher. Although his test were very challenging if you put forth the effort and went to class you could do fine. I failed the first test but went to talk to him and he gave me tips on how to study more effectively.
Very challenging course!! Bring recorder/attend class!! Read book!! Wants to make it clear, but subject matter is tough!! Tests are tricky! He is much better than Dr. Rzigalinski, but you won't have any choice in that! She is a control freak!!
You really don't need to go to class, just study the powerpoint notes on your own. It takes a lot of time and effort but the tests are passable! They are usually curved too.
The class is difficult but Flory does everything he can to help you learn the material. He's animated and really cares about what you are learning. He's a good teacher for such a hard class.
His test were hard and tricky. The class requires a lot of studying and understanding of materials. It's not enough to just memorize. He's a nice approachable guy in his office, but he's very good at testing your knowledge.
His test are very difficult but the nature of the material its self is very hard. He is very helpful and very nice. If you take his class you CANNOT wait till the last minute to study for his tests!!!!
Knows what he is talking about and delivers the material very fast. Know the powerpoint slides cold, but go to lecture, he will tell you what to really know. Good guy, hard class, but when you pass it, you know you know the stuff and you are prepared
Dropped the class. Do not take him during the summer. He talks fast and you do not learn anything during class. Tests are in this format: you have choices A through F and D, E, F go like this, D.(Both A and B), E.(Both B and C), and F.(None of the Above)!
This class is relatively challenging, however, this is due to the nature of the material. He is more than available for help, is clear about what will be tested, and, if necessary, will explain things till he is blue in the face if it means your understan
Dr. Flory was an awesome professor, he makes everything interesting. Very spastic and energetic. One of the best professors at UCF. Very willing to help, if he knows you know the material and have been studying hard. Dont wait to study!
He loves to be tricky, you need to FULLY understand the concepts in order to get a good grade on the test. His tests are very hard and it seems that he ENJOYS doing that
The material isnt hard there is just a LOT of it. didnt go to class to much but scored well on the tests which were not tricky if u knew the material and controversial questions were given points back. dont need a book and flory is very smart funny guy...great professor.
Great professor, willing help students that show interest to learn. Tests are not hard if you study. Most questions are based on whether or not you understand a concept. Memorization ( for the most part)does not really help. Good luck!
Very fast paced and thorough teacher. Attend lecture & you'll be fine. Test questions come off of the slides that he asks you to "check" in class. One negative point is that test questions are too"wordy" & may be confusing to students. Oh yeah, and lab is pointless.
He goes through concepts and notes quickly. Keep up with the powerpoint slides, and go to class! Knows his material well, but lacks respect for his students. Prepare to be treated disrespectfully.
This is a hard class. He even tells you that on day 1. Not to scare you, but just be prepared on what you are getting in to. He does a good job at telling you what you need to know. STUDY EVERYTHING!! It's the only way to make a decent grade. Study for lab quizes also, they can be kidna tricky!
He sucks as a professor. He talks entirely too fast and his tests are extremely hard. All of these are correct, none of these are correct, these types of questions. He says he takes ritalin for his speech because he knows he talks too fast. Too bad he's the only teacher available for Physiology.
Ok, this class took plenty of studying and effort, but Dr. Flory is a really excellent professor. He made the topics understandable and interesting, and you need to go to class! Important info on he test is announced during lecture. It's not an easy A, but if you try it's def. possible.
Interesting, yet very challenging at the same time. Laziness or trying to get an easy 'A' will not work for this class. Makes lectures very understandable, interesting, and has a lot of energy. Truly knows his field and I am grateful that he is teaching this course.
The only reason people think he's a bad teacher is because they don't put effort into the class. You HAVE to attend and you HAVE to study! He's not tricky if you know the material. He is also willing to help, even if you run into him off campus while your studying, he will STILL help! He's also HOT!
The content of the class is difficult, but he presents it very well. He knows what he's talking about and is very willing to help if you ask. Slows down talking if you ask too. Tests are difficult, so going to class and studying hard is a must.
He's a little tough but fair. I really learned a lot in his class, and I feel a million times better prepared for applying to professional schools.
He is a great professor & knows a lot. This class will help in profesional schools and nursing careers. The tests are challenging,so STUDY and go to class if you want A. Highly recommended professor. ONLY thing is that he speaks very fast, so make sure you take good notes b/c it will help you. STUDY!
Dr. Flory is one of the best professors I've had at UCF. His tests are hard but they're fair. If you can EARN the good grade, you will feel reall good about yourslef. He is very helpful and always willing to answer any questions, inside and outside class. He really cares about his students.
Great teacher for this subject. Very interested in the material and gives you a physiological relevance of the day to relate to the material. Very helpful, you have to study ALOT, but the effort is worth it. If you are looking for an easy A not the class for you, only iflooking to learn something

WOW, is this man hot! He is suuuper helpful and really knows his stuff!! Take him!! His tests are very hard so make sure you know the info in and out. He tries to trick you on the tests but its either you know it or you dont
The best teacher I have ever had so far at UCF. He really wants you to learn physiology and makes the class interesting to facilitate the learning with high energy. Very fast paced but I took it in the summer. Highly recommended professor.
Very helpful. Encourages questions during class and during tests if necessary. Emails the noes and checks the slides that the test information will come from PLUS he gives you copies and keys to old tests. Very approachable, great instructor.
This teacher is the BEST. Like stated, he makes sure you know the material well, and has many tools to allow you to do so. I just took his final, and felt very prepared for it. His tests are not a piece of cake, but if you use all the resources, you will be fine. One of the best teachers I have ever had at UCF, thank you Dr. Flory!!!
I think he was pretty awesome. No need for a book but understand the slides well. His test are straight forward and are from his slides. Very nice and approachable, take him!
Great class and awesome teacher. I found the class to be pretty easy. I got an A and I didn't need to spend weeks studying for his exams. While attendance isn't mandatory, I still recommend going because I think that is what made me find his class so easy.
Very nice guy, loves it when you ask questions and show interest in the course. Tests arent too bad, just make sure you know and understand the slides front and back (you dont need the book). I would definitely recommend him.
best teacher i've had at ucf thus far :) he's an awesome teacher and a really nice guy. he tests over a lot of material but tells you exactly what you need to know. read the slides and pay attention and you'll do great. take him!
Dr. Flory is a great teacher and truly cares about his students. Go to his office hours and ask him if you are having difficulty, he is more than willing to help. Notes are straight forward. 4 tests & 4 quizzes.
I loved this class! Professor Flory is one of the few professors that can keep my attention. You can tell that he really loves what he does, and that helps you stay interested. He is dedicated to his students understanding, and is always available for office hours. The exams are manageable if you study. One of my favorite classes! (NOT the lab.)
Professor Flory is the best professor I have had at UCF so far. He really cares about his students, and he is always available in office hours. Grade consists of 4 tests (60%), lab (30%), and 4 quizzes (10%). Flory is very clear about what to know for tests and quizzes, and an A is very possible if you study from the notes. No textbook required.
HE IS AMAZING! He loves the subject and explains it clearly and he also organizes the powerpoints in such a way that it makes more sense. I took this class honors during fall and I am so happy I did. Attendance is not mandatory but I don't understand why you would want to miss his class because he lectures very well. Take him!
He is a great professor and made me love Physio! He is extremely helpful and truly cares about his students and that they are learning the information. His tests are fair but decently hard. If you have any chance at all TAKE HIM!! The only bad part about the class is Lab which he doesn't control. Best teacher/class I've taken at UCF!!
He is a friendly, knowledgeable prof that makes clear what will be on tests through 'checked slides' and emphasis made in class, making it an easy enough upper level science course. Know the slides and get an A in lab through reviewing lab slides prior to the quiz and will be solid. He can be moody, show respect and this won't be an issue.
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Stay on his good side and you'll breeze through the class. Very clear and concise when it comes to his lectures and exam material. He even gives you test answers/questions during class if you listen closely (going to office hours helps, too). Take him if you have the chance, you won't regret it!
He is an amazing professor , he is very helpful. Just study his powerpoints and you will be fine :)
Dr. Flory makes a challenging course with a ton of material highly manageable and interesting. He makes you focus on what's important and his tests are not tricky at all. I learned so much from this course just by going to class and studying for the exams. I didn't overwork myself. The lab on the other hand... that's a different story.
In this department, Flory is one of the most down to earth professors. The way he structures the course is very manageable. His ppt. slides are very clear and interesting. Make the effort to pay attention in class and engage in office hours. The lab (if run by Dr. Lopez) is horrendous, especially if you are in the honors section.
Dr. Flory is my favorite professor I have had in my college career. He loves the subject which makes it easier to listen to him. He also is incredibly helpful during office hours and he truly cares about his students' success. He is both an amazing man and professor.
One of the best lecturers in the department. Very clear, knows his stuff, and very helpful in office hours. I clicked with his personality and had a great experience in his class. His powerpoints are super clear and are exactly what he tests on. Even curves, so it's an easy A. He understands the lab stinks so he compensates for it.
Great teacher. Tests straight from his ppts. Class is very manageable. The lab is more work than the lecture. Make sure to volunteer in lab once during the semester for extra credit. If Flory offers extra credit, do it. Overall, a good class. You will learn a lot.
Lecture is very manageable. Lab is bit more difficult, quiz every class. Summer class is very doable.
One of the best classes I've taken at UCF. Dr. Flory is SUCH a nice guy, super knowledgeable, and very helpful. Tests straight from ppts and he even tells you which slides are fair game. The ONLY downside is the terrible lab and that's out of his control. TAKE HIM!!
TAKE HIM! you will not regret it. very straight forward and doesn't like to trick his students
No textbook. The tests and quizzes are straightforward. Attend class because there are diagrams in the slides which require explanation. The 1st test is the hardest. Dr. Flory seemed nice but he is quick to annoyance and can be cross with students. Lab quizzes are harder because the questions pertain to small details and are vaguely worded.
Professor Flory is one of the few who care about students learning the material in a way that makes sense to them. Instead of just throwing random facts around, he tries to make the material sensible to the individual student. PP slides are clear. He tells you what to expect on quizzes and tests. He's always there to discuss things in office hours.
He is the best! I recommend him to anyone who wants to take physiology. I learned so much in his class just by going to lectures, taking notes, and reviewing the powerpoints. He makes a hard subject understandable and interesting. you don't have to read the book either. He will go out of his way to help his students, really a great prof!
He is amazing! He's kind, helpful, and definitely not one to mess with. He is def a teacher a respect and he demands that. He literally teaches you physiology in a way you can understand! I love his class. I can't wait to take him again! He made me LOVE science and feel like I was a an "A" student. I love his class. He doesn't TRICK students!!!
I've never felt the need to rate a professor until I took Flory's class. He has been my favorite professor EVER, he is SO helpful! He makes hard subjects sound so simple and fascinating. He is always willing to go out of his way to help his students. I've never had such a caring professor, and I wish he could take him for all my classes.
Flory started the course by directly stating that he was going to pick someone to hate. He was openly rude to the first person to ask a so-so question for the rest of the semester. He was nice to me, but I lost respect for him when he chose to behave unprofessionally. Tests are easy. Lab is strange and horrible. He didn't show up for the final.
He is a great instructor and lecture quizzesexams are relatively easy. The lab is extremely difficult, contradicts the lecture, and he hates it. If the lab is the difference between an A and a B, he will round you up. However, he is quick to anger and can be quite cross. Just get in, get out, get your A, and don't talk to him if you can help it.
The subject itself is a lot of information but Dr. Flory makes it so, so do able. He prepares you well for his tests which keeps them from being stressful - they're pretty easy in other words. Lab is also very straight forward and easy. Those who say otherwise just don't put in the effort required. Read your lab book and that's all there is. :)
He was by far one of the best professors I have had in my UCF career. His lectures are great. He presents the material in a way that makes it seem understandable and interesting even though there is a lot to learn. It is not easy material, but his test are also very well written and straightforward. Just GO TO CLASS, listen and put in the effort.
Dr. Flory is one of the best professors I have ever had at UCF! During fall and spring, he only teaches Honors students at the Osceola campus. However, during summer he teaches regular at the main campus. I wish I could have him for all my classes. He tells you what you need to know for the tests. He's very nice, but can get sassy sometimes, lol
Dr Flory is amazing ! The best professor I've taken at UCF! He makes his expectations so clear and is always there to help you if you need it. If you fail this class it is because you did not try at all. It's still a harder science but he makes it so understandable. Lab is doable just read ahead. I did this class over summer and got an A. Take him!
Dr. Flory is the best professor I've had at UCF. He is passionate about physiology and makes the class interesting. Would not recommend taking the class over the short summer term; was really tough to absorb so much info. Overall tough class, but awesome professor. Make sure you come to learn and not talk. Would take another one of his classes.
It's not easy but you can get through. He records his lectures& I would suggest writing down everything he says or listening to it bc sometimes what's on the exam isn't on the PP or wasn't clear on it. Sometimes his exams can be worded a little weirdly but otherwise hes a fair teacher. Lab really didn't help my grade its 40% : I wish it was 35%
Dr. Flory was a great professor! I just finished his summer term with an A! He is very clear with what he expects and sometimes will even "hint" to test or quiz questions. I recommend going to his class plus listening to his lectures online! The lab was a bit difficult over summer, a lot of pre-reading but definitely do-able. Would take him again!
He is clear in exactly what will be on the exams. The text was optional. If you listen to the lectures(X2) and take notes an A is achievable. Exam timing isn't fair. At 5 min left he starts threatening that if your in your seat when the timer goes off you can't turn your exam in. Essentially you end up with 45 min instead of the full 50 min.
Dr. Flory is by far the best professor I've had at UCF. As long as you either: attend class and take notes or listen to his full lectures and take notes, YOU'LL ACE YOUR TESTS. However, the lab makes it extra difficult to get an A in the overall course. It's horribly organized and the quizzes are awful. Aced lecture, not the lab.
This class was great. He actually does curve by making the exams out of 50 but giving you 55 questions so 10% curve. It's possible to get good grades. The avg grade in our class of 200+ was a 80% at the end with both lab and lecture the highest was a 99%. It's doable. You can't just memoire his slides to pass you need his auto tapes!
Greatest Professor I've taken at UCF! He is always available for help and answering questions and will almost always go out of his way to help out. He genuinely wants all his students to succeed. He loves his Physiology and is enthusiastic about teaching it. Attend class because he gives out test Qs! Study his checked slides and you'll be gold!
Professor Flory made a class that is hard seem reasonably easy and very interesting. He is very clear about what you need to know for he's exams and what you could ignore. He uses audio tapes which help a lot when you are confused about any part of the lecture.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!!
Very helpful, clear with what he expects! Records all lectures. Lab portion's quizzes can be trick, but the midterm/final are usually 8090% questions out of the back of the book. Lecture book not mandatory. Lab manual is mandatory (different lab manual).
Probably the best teacher I have ever had. You do not need the textbook, he records and uploads the lectures; everything's directly from the power points. He explains everything exceptionally well. I wish he'd teach more at UCF main campus. The lab is horrific but Flory does his best to accommodate for the lab teacher. Highly Recommend!
Dr. Flory was a great teacher, he pretty much told you what was on the test. Go to class, he gives out test questions/answers. A "B" is totally doable if you put some effort in. The lab for this class is not run by him and he has no control over it, but if you read/study the night before each quiz then you will be fine. Lab midterm/final are cake!
As far as Dr. Flory goes he is a good professor, however, his humor is eccentric. He is very good at lecturing and other people are right is lecture recordings do help. Make sure though that one records him themselves because he does have the tendency to forget to record. This is a tough science so expect to study.
Ok so his tests aren't hard if u listen to the Audio tapes 200x. My problem was his method of grading. I got 90's on all lecture exams but a 65 on the lab midterm. My overall grade was an 82.. Made no sense and when I emailed him about it he never got back to me. So yeah I guess make sure u ace lab.... Cuz acing lecture won't get u an A
Love this guy. He's very clear about what his expectations are, and gives you plenty of resources to succeed (audiotapes, old tests, etc.). Just take the test seriously and you'll be fine. The lab was terrible (quizzed before lectures, seemingly random information on quiz), but a better teacher is taking over, so it'll probably be better.
Dr. Flory was hands down my favorite professor at UCF. He really, really cares about his students and wants you to learn. Every day after class I would go to his offices hours and he was so kind to explain things fully and even gave me girl scout cookies! If you're going to take physiology, take it with him! You will not regret it!
Straight up GOAT
Summer 6weeks lab was fairly easy. For lecture you do not need the book the powerpoints mainly help for guidance (checked slides) main focus should be his audio recording he speaks SUPER fast. Everything you need to know for the test and quizzes come straight from his mouth. He likes his classroom to be silent, he was easily irritated.
OMG!!! this class is very difficult and the professor speaks really fast and he doesn't like to slow down. The professor is willing to explaining the material at his office if you don't understand in class. The professor can be borderline rude to sometimes. I was never rude to me but I have seen him be rude to other student.
He is a really good professor! he records his lectures so going to lecture is not mandatory all I did was listen to his lectures and go through the powerpoint. repetition is key
Flory records his lectures so attending class is not mandatory. He speaks very fast but he repeats himself a lot which is the key to realizing what will be on his tests. He has a bit of a temper and can act like a child during lecture but overall his class is doable if you put in the right amount of work.
Dr. Flory was an amazing Physiology teacher! He records his lectures and although he gives quizzes he lets you know when. Read PPT and listen to audio and you'll definitely pass. The lecture is based solely on quizzes & exams. The lab is more annoying, but doable (lab report, lab quizzes, midterm & final).
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING PROFESSOR! Decided to take medical biochem just to have another class with him. He is honestly so straightforward with his material and expectations. Gives you study material, reviews before exams, previous exams, and is just very nice. You have quizzes that are announced beforehand. He records his lectures.
Awesome professor! Got 100 in all of his tests, very important that you listen to his recording and takes notes on it (some stuff only from the recording will appear on exam) and study the powerpoints and you are solid. Dont start studying 2 days before, maybe 4 or 5 days.
Class is stright forward and based off of powerpoints. My suggestion is to print them out and takes notes next to them and study that. It's a lot of material, but he is fair about his grading and test questions. No HW. Very accessible during office hours. Only negative is he gets a bit too mad at people whispering or coming in late to class.
The class is straightforward and fast-paced. It is entirely lecture-based, so printing PPTs and taking notes as he speaks is a must. Don't miss class. As a person, he is not approachable and had a few outbursts throughout the semester. A bit scary and unprofessional. If you keep your head down and keep quiet, you shouldn't have issues.
He is HARD. I don't know why everyone is saying he is good. He talks way toooo fast, that's why everyone MUST listen to recordings, bc it's hard to keep up with him and his test questions comes from there. I'm retaking this course with Ahangari and I have an A with her. With him, I had to struggle a lot. Be prepared to listen to his recordings 100x
Clear on what hes looking for you to know. Dense material. Talks fast. Is nice, but also can get upset easily. Records lectures. If you work with the material consistently and study you will do ok in lecture (read pp and listen to audio). Lab should help bring you up.
I really enjoy taking Flory. best way to pass his class is to go over the LECTURE RECORDING!!!has many times has possible, also the SAQ, past exams and tutorials. understanding the material from his powerpoint is key to passing.
Only professor i can say i actually learned something from. His stuff stuck! straight forward , lets you know exactly what he expects. If you the usual lazy, shows up to class unprepared , cant shut up to save your life, don't study but expect to magically pass, don't pick him.
Dr. Flory is a very good, detailed lecturer. Even though lectures don't take attendance, I still go to every one because it is helpful to be there and listen. He cares about his students and brings us snacks for a short break halfway through lecture. Although this class is very hard material, I would take him for every hard class if I could.
Do not listen to the reviews of people that say he isnt good! He tells you exactly what slides from the power point are going to be on the test and he is extremely helpful during office hours. He answered every single one of my questions in details. He tends to speak fast but that is why he records his lectures. FAVORITE PROFFESOR SO FAR!
Dr. Flory was hands down the worst instructor I have had at UCF so far. His tests are beyond impossible to pass. Answer choices are extremely extremely similar and creates confusion. Also, the fact that you're only graded on 4 tests makes it difficult to pass the class. Stay away from this awful instructor.
Don't listen to anyone who says he is bad. I got over a 100 in this class. He tells you exactly what you need to study for the most part so LISTEN TO HIS RECORDINGS! He is a little weird but a solid choice as long as you put the time in for the grade you want. 55 questions on tests but graded out of 50. Lab has lab reports and quizzes but its easy
He is so rude and sarcastic even if you are super nice. Everything is super fast and if you ask him to explain something he uses language that is difficult to understand.
All these bad reviews are highly inaccurate! I just took Dr. Flory's class during summer B and received an A. He tells you what to know for each exam and is helpful in answering questions during office hours. 4 tests total, 55 questions each but scored out of 50, so you can get over 100%. Lab is a breeze. TAKE HIM! You will learn a lot.
Good professor. Tells you what you need to know and what you don't need to know for each test with his use of "checked" slides. Listen carefully to his lectures and re-listen to his recordings. He often brought snacks to class for us which was nice. Has 5 extra credit questions on each test- but these questions were also based on the material.
Great prof! He has "checked" ppt slides that he takes material off of so you know what you'll be tested on. He will modify which slides he's testing on so pay attention. He gives a lot of free points during lecture but also records them himself and uploads. He gave quizzes and then EC quizzes as well. Made an 89% an A at the end of the semester.
Best teacher I've ever had at UCF. He is an amazing lecturer. He lets you know what is important and goes into detail on what you should know for the test. This class requires a large amount of memorization but it is interesting information to learn about. He also records his lectures and posts them on web courses which is awesome.
Straightforward on what he expects from you. Great lectures, which are recorded. Material is moderate difficulty, easy to learn if you put in the work. Accessible outside of class if you are having trouble with any topics. Lab was 35% of grade and easy to moderate difficulty - know your histology for the exams. Overall, easy A if you study hard. :)
Solid prof. The class is fairly difficult and requires a lot of hard work & studying however he gives you a ton of resources (audiotapes, tutorials, self assessments, old exams). Would recommend taking it alone in the summer so you can solely focus on his class. He talks super fast & can be a tad sassy when you talk to him but the class is doable.
He is the best Professor I've had at UCF so far. Physiology is a hard class and he makes it doable. Gives a lot of resources to help you succeed and tells you exactly what he expects you to know for every exam. I learned so much. Despite being a good professor you have to put in the work to get the grade you want.
It doesnt seem as though he is passionate about physiology ... Not approachable if you need help . Can be rude at times .
This class was probably one of the hardest class I took at UCF so far. Physiology is a very difficult class and has a lot of material that you need to memorize. Flory tries to make it easier because he provides powerpoint slides that will tell you what exactly will be on the test. Also talks super fast during lectures
FANTASTIC course. LOVED Dr. Flory's lectures, though he does have high expectations and doesn't have a problem with calling students out, the amount you learn is worth every moment. My favorite professor, excellently organized class, not stressful. Re-listen to his lectures, they'll provide everything you need for exams. 11/10 would recommend!!
He was really rude and unhelpful. His tests were full of trick questions. The tests were all multiple choice but the possible choices were all incredibly similar. I would study for hours just to be furious when I saw the questions.
It is my third year at UCF and Flory is my favorite professor. I took physio over the summer so it was very fast paced and I studied a lot but he made it easier by recording his own lectures and having it available to his students. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about physio. He marks specific slides that will most likely be on the exam
His exams were full of trick questions, and he was always rude when we asked questions. Dr. Flory was not helpful, and I DO not recommend him!!
If you took Dr. Flory for physiology, be warned than endocrinology is a step up in difficulty. The material is advanced with a heavy emphasis on clinical presentation. Assignments were split between online and in-person, with clear grading criteria. If you are interested in learning more about endo, definitely put in the work and take this class!
Dr. Flory is a great professor! He is clear about his rules from the first day of class so just make sure you follow them and you will be fine. If you want an A you need to study a lot. his power points have checked slides and usually that's what you see on the exam. The questions can be a little bit tricky but it is doable if you put in the work
Dr. Flory was an excellent professor. Lectures easy to follow, and he posts recordings incase you miss class. He gives 10% curve on each exam. Study from the ppts and you're golden. He funny, intelligent, and one of the better professors i've taken.
Professor Flory is a very good professor. He does record lectures and you WILL need to re-listen to them because it is a fast paced course. No textbook required or homework. His exams can be tricky so make sure you remember little details during lec. I recommend using his practice exams because they are similar in testing style and some material
Rudest professor Ive ever encountered. Unfortunately he doesnt care about his students. Ive never been so disrespected by a superior in my entire college experience.
Nice, but doesnt play when its time to do work. No hw, just tests. Wasnt a fan of his teaching style, he skimmed through powerpoints and thats it. No study guide for tests. 1st class in my entire college experinence i had to drop. Would not take again. Wish there was more structure instead of just "study everything" 2 much material to just say that
You think during a pandemic you would be understanding with your students, but he showed his true colors... someone brought a water bottle into lab (unopened) and he gave the ENTIRE class 6 different punishments for one persons actions including taking away a curve that was promised beforehand. Only reason I got an A is because of the gta
Best prof for physiology imo. Cool personality, interesting lectures, straightforward exams (memorize PPTs/practice exams), & snacks (yum). His exam style takes time to get used to, but the slight curve helps. During the pandemic, he used ProctorHub during online exams. Only downside was his attitude at times; he's easy to piss off.
Dr. Flory is THE GOAT! My cardinal rule is that I see Flory teaching, I take, no matter which class. He's funny, knowledgeable, a great lecturer, and very clear on what he expects of you. Do what he says to do and don't do what he says not to do. It's that simple. Study his PowerPoint, go to lectures, listen to the recordings then you're golden.
Pros: Content is straightforward & curve on exams Cons: Flory is rude, rants often, miskeys tests/quizzes constantly, ignores emails, gets mad if you email him questions for further understanding of concepts or for his vague announcements, gave zeroes if anyone had connection issues during exams during hurricane season & the pandemic
Cool guy, hard class
Dr. Flory is a great professor. He makes the information super understandable and really makes sure you have the info down. Super straightforward with expectations and even curves. It is hard to find good professors that actually teach and Dr. Flory is one of them. He also always asks if we have any questions before moving on. Highly recommend him!
I've been in college for 2 years and this is the one of the best and fair professors I've ever had. Lectures the entire class(good), understandable, and simplifies concepts. Exams and quizzes are fair and I studied for a reasonable amount of time. Exams graded 55/50 (5 bonus) in 50 minutes. I could go on about how good he is. Take this professor.
First semester in my third year and I have not come across a better lecturer. Normally complex topics are simplified, yet engaging. Old exams, tutorials, extra questions, and lengthy office hours are available solely for YOUR understanding and clarification. 350 characters cannot do this man enough justice. I cannot wait to take him again!
Honestly, difficult class and information, but he works so hard to make sure his students understand the chapters. I have to watch lectures again after class to really understand, but really, he gives you everything to succeed. Funny professor and very helpful.
whatever you do, do not take this man for anatomy. not only is he rude, but his exams are probably some of the hardest exams I've ever taken and i study A LOT. Questions are very particular so if you skipped over it you wont know it. Purposefully tests his students on stuff he knows they'll skip over. Save yourself and do not take him.
This is anatomy, its a very challenging class. Dr Flory is direct with his lectures and waste no time. He emphasizes what needs to be learned which is something I very much value. He doesn't mind repeating the material (in lecture) so the students can better understand it. Overall an amazing teacher. This is Anatomy! Study hard in this class!!
Amazing professor, caring and wants you to understand and love physiology. 70% of your grade are the 4 tests: no culminative final. 4 quizzes: drops lowest quiz grade. 10% curve on all tests (55/50) EC quiz at end of semester. Provides old exams and is very clear on what material he'll test on. Would 100% take again!
BEST professor, 5 exams and will literally tell you this will be a test question, know it. Each exam has a small curve, if there is a problem with a question(s) he will throw them out if they were not covered/fair. Took this online and class was originally recorded and posted but ATTEND and ENGAGE hes very interesting and you can learn a lot!!
Its a great class but it kind of sucks that youre only graded on exams. Ive found it to be more difficult to focus for exams in online classes so it really sucks for me. But Dr. Flory is a really interesting professor and genuinely loves what he teaches. Definitely take this class after the pandemic and online classes are over with!
Flory should stick to physiology cause it seems hes more passionate about it than anatomy. PP are hand-me-downs from samsam & they suck. Text heavy & hard to understand. Lectures are just him reading through the slides. For each exam, theres 150+ slides to study from. He also took away supplemental study material bc of a bad review on here.
Shout out Dr. Flory for saying no to sexual harassment against his students and and standing up for his female students when UCF and the PD wouldn't! A real gem of a professor and if only for the fact he's on your side you should really take him :)
Literally gives you everything you need to pass. Use PPT & type everything he says word by word. If you do that and study that, you'll do great. He also adds curves. He tells you what to study because it will be on the test. Study guides + study questions are offered as well.
Reasonable to get A if you record him and study. Class grade averages: low of 72, mean 91.8, high 103%. Prof has a temper, can be emotional, gives weird questions he wont fix but 10% curve on exams. He didnt communicate how extra credit + dropped quiz well. Would forget what he said sometimes. Not easily accessed outside of class. Gives snacks!
Dr. Flory is undoubtedly one of the best professors at UCF. He actually cares about the material he teaches and cares about his students. He gets impatient at times but I think the class final grade average of 91.8 speaks for itself. Take him if you can!
Dr. Flory is probably one of the best professors I've had in my time at UCF. I really enjoyed his teaching style and approach - he would preview topics and connect everything in a way that made sense. Near the end of the semester, you have this full-circle moment where everything from the semester clicks together. Would for sure take him again!
Was the least responsible professor I have ever had outside of class. Was not covid-conscious, and made students feel guilty for having covid and not being able to attend lecture. You are only graded on the exams, which are very difficult. There is also a lab with weekly quizzes but the TA's are very helpful! I will not take him again for any class
Not good, gets mad easily for the smallest things. Exam makes no sense.
Professor has a temper, behaves like a child and his tests are not related to what he lectures about. Makes you learn things not even in the class and tests you on it
Bad teaching style and impossible exams; bad temple, gossips about students private matters and shares with class ,pushes students to write bad things about other students.
Locked the financial aid quiz and was extremely rude to me over email. Lacked professionalism and tact when specifically showed in the UCF policies that it should remain open till the end of the semester. He stopped responding after lol
Not responsible, made students feel guilty for having covid and not being able to attend lecture. Graded on the exams, which are very difficult. Very rude via email, heard he likes to make students feel guilty. I will not take him again for any class
I always found endocrinology difficult and intimidating. Dr. Flory's lectures and clarity about what is going to be on tests or quizzes definitely put me at ease. As long as you put the time in, getting an A in this course is very possible. Attending lecture is a must to get all content. I wish I could've taken more of his classes during undergrad.
This professor was awful and had a very bad temper. He's very immature and his tests were not related to what he lectured about. He had no idea what he was talking about as students were constantly correcting him. Constantly canceled class very last minute and loved to gossip/bash on UCF. Cussed us out once for asking him to record the lectures.
We all wished he gave more notice for class cancellations. Loved having exams online. Emailing him is hit or miss sometimes. Tip: read the slides before going to lecture. Honestly I felt the *checked* slides weren't always representative of exams. RECORD LECTURES!! Overall not bad, just be prepared to study and learn! He brings cool snacks!Thx Prof!
He's one of the best professors at UCF. This was the second course I have taken with him and I have learned so so much. Study his audios/lectures and powerpoints. If you do so, it's literally an easy A. He should be a role model for lecture/test structures for other professors.
Not responsible, Very rude via email, he likes to make students feel guilty. I will not take him again for any class
He was alright at the beginning, but over time, he became worse. He's disorganized, disrespectful, and doesn't know how to use the grading system or Honorlock properly. The class is graded only on tests and a few quizzes, so no assignments. Also, it's mostly self-studying. If you can't tolerate any of these things, avoid taking anatomy with him.
His physio class was easy, especially if you listened to his lectures. However, he does have a bad temper. He got really mad at our class for not showing up, even though attendance is not mandatory. From there he was passive aggressive to us.
most of grade is exams and quizzes. his tests are fair, have extra credits built in, but the Qs can be very vague. good lecturer, lots of things on exams are from lecture. offers more extra cred at the end. lab reports are easy. he can be EXTREMELY passive aggressive and dramatic. he went so far as to humiliate a student in front of all the class.
Best professor I ever had! Explains and connects the material well and makes it fun. Go over PPTs before lecture, record the lectures, and use the old tests he posts as well as the study guides. There is lots of extra credit and the exams are curved. Very accessible in office hours. Prepares you well for Pathophysiology. Brings snacks!
Dr. Flory was one of my favorite professors so far. His class is not easy but neither is the subjects he teaches. He is very clear on what needs to be known for the tests and just does not like the people who slack off. If you are going to class and paying attention to him then you will be fine. Im going back to take him again in fall
My horrible experience in this class had nothing to do with the material, and everything to do with the professor. He told us attendance wasn't mandatory but punished us for not coming to class. Literally the first week he told us to drop. When I withdrew, he sent me an email saying I got what I earned. He was extremely unprofessional.
We would answer questions in class even if they're wrong, but Flory would get so frustrated at us bc "he just taught it and we should know." Then we all stopped participating but that got him more mad. He taught from big paragraphs rather than elaborating on diagrams bc he saved that for his lab assistant, making it harder to make connections.
