Make sure you go to class, read all assigned work, and expect his exams to be trival type questions, if you show some sort of effect you will pass, maybe not with a A+, but you will pass. Over all he is an amazing man, with a wonderful senes of humor. Good Luck!

I think I love this guy. His classes definitely do not f around, and if you're not in it to learn something, don't take them. If you have class around noon with him you might get an invite to go to lunch at Cinco - if you're cool enough. He will give you a nickname, and probably not learn your real one, but that's ok, because he's as close to god as you'll find at Eastern, which isn't saying much, but whatever. I anxiously await the day he returns from sabbatical.

Fun & engaging in the classroom, but expects you to successfully comprehend all the reading on your own, quizzes you on it and THEN explains it to you. Was my advisor, has no knowledge of college bureaucracy so it took me an extra semester to graduate because he wasn't helpful. Choose Higginbotham for an advisor instead.

This guy can spout out an entire lecture without refering to notes, but makes it sound interesting. Has a tendency to describe events in astonishing (and sometimes gruesome) detail, so be aware if you're taking him around lunchtime. A nice person, but very difficult to work around the complications presented in and out of classes. Be aware there is no use of Blackboard, very little homework BUT lots of note taking and graded quizzes/exams with little guidance given on how to prepare.

I cry 3 times a day due to the few tests/quizzes that are the majority of the grade. He sucked the joy out of history & made me consider changing my major. Get ready to read 60-page chapters, answer questions w/ no direction & get criticized for not meeting his impossible expectations! he doesn't use blackboard & isn't accessible outside of class

Dr. Frye is amazing! He's very personable and amazing to have intellectual conversations with! His lectures are interesting but make sure you take good notes because you'll need them for the tests and for remembering upcoming assignments. He doesn't use blackboard but there are few papers anyhow.

Frye is quite possibly the nicest guy in the world and does genuinely like to talk with his students, however his teaching style isn't the best. No study guides for exams, no clear prompts for writing assignments, and quizzes are so specific that it's nearly impossible to pass.

Pros: Class was always fun. Take notes, pay attention, which he makes easy, and it's not hard. My quiz average was 105. He gets along really well with students. Cons: none.

Doesn't use blackboard so you won't know what your grade is. Class is lecturing the whole time, sometimes hw is a reading and the class after is a quiz. The questions are so specific, hard to get an A. Not accessible outside of class, doesn't give study guide for the two exams. Exams are so hard and are based on your notes from lecture.

Professor Frye is a cool guy and he seems to enjoy teaching his students which made me enjoy his class. What I did not enjoy was how confusing his syllabus is and the fact he didn't upload anything to Blackboard. There are reading quizzes and exams, they are pretty much your entire grade so if you are not a good test taker this class isn't for you.

Terrible teacher! Tests only by what he says in class - no other material. Tests are built to trip you up and make your life miserable. Creative projects had no direction, and he admitted to us after presentations that he still didn't know how he would grade. If he doesn't even have a rubric for himself, how are we supposed to know what he wants??

Frye clearly doesn't plan ahead and it makes life difficult for everyone. He lacks empathy for students who can't keep up and just yaps all class, but it's what you're tested on. If you aren't a fast note taker, skip this prof. Choose peace, Frye sucks as a teacher. At the end he promotes his own book as a way to earn extra credit, 5 pages ab walls

Dr. Frye is simply the best teacher. Phenomenal in every aspect. He only gives you the information he wants you to know for the class so you don't get a bunch of random info. If he asks you to read something actually read it because there will be a quiz on it next class. Would recommend.

This was a great class. Dr Frye would typically stand before the class and discuss history or tell a story, while writing important aspects on the board. Sometimes slides would be used when covering art, or architecture. There would be readings for HW that we would be quizzed on, in paper during class, and there's a hands on creative final project.

frye is a funny guy who obviously loves what he does but you better not miss a class. there are no slides during class, he just talks for an hour and 15 which is honestly impressive. thought the class was going to be boring but I enjoyed it. doesn't use blackboard at ALL and the tests often don't reflect the material learned in class. good luck!
