Very strange individual. Loves math and expects everyone to go home and love it as he does. homework is majority of the grade. weird mannerisms are used in his lectures (nice, messy, nasty, clean, not nasty, etc.)
I took him for Calc I for Bio and Med. He's a fantastic teacher very passionate about math with a good sense of humor. He explains not only the math but the theory behind the math. I had a small (<40 student class). Homework wasn't mandatory, and the quizzes and tests were easy peasy; all the material was taught in the class. A+ professor.
Awesome Math Teacher! He explains very well and is willing to help. Honestly, the best math teacher I've had. Quizzes were directly from the homework and tests aren't bad at all.
Gajewski is probably the most awkward person I've ever met. He thinks derivatives are nifty. But he's an ok teacher. Compared to most ever other math teacher I've had, he rocks. I'd take him again. Wish he was teaching Calc II this semester.
Great teacher! A little dorky but explains the material well. I would take him again for other courses.
I found Calc 2 a little more challenging than Calc 1. This guy teaches a little different as well. He is more focused on the theory and background of you actually understanding the math problem rather than just examples. I personally wanted more examples, but Mr. G really knows his material and is willing to help.
Everything is comprehensible. Akward, BUT very nice. He wants everyone to do well. Take him.
David is so quirky and awkward. The things he says and the way he acts will make you laugh. He doesn't take attendance and he puts his lectures in video form online. As long as you do the practice tests and understand every problem on them you should do great on the exams. He's willing to help you, he's just a little shy.
This dude is the man and loves what he does. he is very nice but awkward. Love him though!
Dr. Gajeweski is a good teacher. However he is extremely boring. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH MATH! His exams are short and difficult. And His grading scale is ridiculous as well. A 76% is a D-. Anything below a 70 is an F and if you have other professors and look at their grading scales you'd know that his is nonsense
He's such a nice and quirky guy! He's very smart and a great teacher. My only issue was that he couldn't control the students in the class. Oh, and he looks like Billy, the blue ranger.
This is an awkward professor, but he knows what he is doing in class. You only have a midterm and a final and clicker questions and also worksheets you do in class and you can complete within a group and he gives you plenty of time to complete. If you need something reset on mymathlabplus he will be sure enough to do that for you.
Wonderful professor! He could teach this Calculus class to Kindergarten kids and they would understand it! On top of that, he is a fairly lenient grader because on the tests he focuses on how you got the answer and not what the answer is. There is an every day assignment, but it only takes an hour. I would love to take this class again!
best math proffesor at UT hands down. explains everything so well it actually makes sense. will work with you. he enjoys teaching and enjoys seeing everyone do well. MUST TAKE HIM
Gajewski is the best math professor I have ever taken. He walked me through the concepts I was struggling with in his office hours, and was always willing to answer questions. He explains everything very clearly and makes taking notes so easily. The class isn't easy and takes practice, but Gajewski makes an A a totally achievable goal.
You can tell this guy really loves his job. He explains everything really well and in depth. He is also very helpful and likes to answer questions. He's quirky and it's fun to watch him teach the class.
He is awesome and he really cares for you to understand it
Best math teacher I've ever had. Ever.
Greatest human being who ever lived. Well, not quite that great, but he's awesome. He's really nice, funny in a quirky, nerdy way, is super helpful, insanely humble, and an awesome guy to talk to. He's also a very fair grader, and a cool friend. Take him for Calculus. Seriously.
David Gajewski is an excellent lecturer. The class is wonderfully paced, thanks to him writing everything out on the chalkboard as he teaches. He explains everything in a nice, easy-to-understand way. He doesn't make you do any of the homework if you don't want to, just quizzes and tests, with the occasional project. Didn't even need the textbook.
Great teacher. Really made me understand why things worked.
Amazing professor! Clear lectures. He simplifies the concepts & then builds it up in difficulty through examples. Someone here wrote that he could teach calculus to kindergartners--I fully agree! Lots of MyMathLab HW, regular quizzes, tests are OK. An A is very possible even if you are math illiterate! You'll like calculus by the end of the class!
By far the best professor I have had at UT. His lectures are very clear and he has no problem slowing down if there is any confusion. The questions on his test require little to no algebra to solve and just makes sure you understand the calculus concept. I would move my schedule around just to make sure he was my professor.
I have never had a better professor than Gajewski. I received a B- in Calc 1 and didn't understand anything but now I have a 97 in Calc 2. He only takes off points on tests if you don't understand the material, not if you make simple mistakes. He's always helpful and really wants you to understand the material. TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!!!!
Gajewski is easily the greatest professor to grace UT's campus. Whatever they pay him, it isn't enough. He's so passionate about calculus and it rubs off on all of his students as well. He's really nerdy and funny in a quirky way. Go see him during office hours, I promise it's worth it, regardless of how well you're doing.
You need to download blackboard collaborate to listen to online lectures. There are weekly quiz questions on collaborate for grade, 17 sets of intense homework questions on Mymathlab, 10 timed quizzes on mymathlab after online meetings, 3 lab assignments, 10 homework assignments, and 3 on campus tests and a final exam. He is nice and helps out.
He's a great prof and actually cares about his students
David was amazing! He really cares about how well his students do, and as long as you show up and pay attention you will do fine. He grades mostly for understanding of how to do the problem which is a relief after having ridiculously tough graders in the past. Take David if you want a truly great prof!
Currently taking Technical Calculus 1 with David. Very good Professor, if you do not understand something he is always more than happy to help you out. Tests are very fair, still challenging but as long as you studied the homework you should do just fine. I was very nervous about this course, and am about half way through the semester with a B+.
He is an amazing professor! I failed calc 1 my first time and then took him for technical calc 1 and passes with a B! Never uses a PowerPoint writes all notes out on a chalkboard the old fashioned way. Very informative and makes sure you are ready for every test and quiz. I highly suggest working your schedule around his class! Didn't use the book
Fantastic! Super nice guy and super smart, he doesn't even like to be called Dr. even though he is one. Failed calc the first time, took it with him again and on track to get an A and everything is super clear. Would 100% work schedule around a class with him. Makes sure you're prepared for exams and you know what to expect. Fair tests and grader.
Really good professor, I'd never seen any calc before in my life, with him I managed to get a B+. He is always willing to help and prepared to give a lecture. His exams are not hard if you go to class and do the homework. I would take this guy for every single math class if I could.
Dr. Gajewski is one of the best professors I have ever had. He works at a pace that works for everyone in the class. He makes sure you understand the material. The lectures are great, a ton of examples and then the homework is put up after finishing a section. He is always available during his office hours and will stay until you understand it.
He is the best and the most easiest prof one will take for cal ever. he is super approachable and does revisions just before the test gives extra credits as well. helps with mathlab and listens to students problems . do take him if you have an option. i am taking cal 3 and still go to his office hours with my questions. he truly cares about studen
Great Professor! Helps with homework, teaches clearly, and clear on test expectations.
David is a great professor. He makes things easy to understand and is more than willing to help you. His exams are easy to get an A on if you study the homework and his quizzes. I respect him as a professor and as an individual. Strongly recommend him especially in normally difficult classes like calculus.
He is by far my favorite professor at UT. He makes the class enjoyable and the lecture understandable. He makes the class easy to pass if you show up to class and do the homework. I would definitely take him again if I could!
I've taken him for calc 1, 2 and math 2190. By far the best professor I've had so far, he loves to help his students. I still pop in every other week for help in calc 3 and you can truly tell he cares about teaching. 11/10
Your only grades are weekly quizzes and 3 exams and one final... If you study and do good on all your quizzes you'll be fine. Quizzes are over the optional homework, just do the homework and you'll be fine.
Dr. Gajewski is an amazing guy. He is so passionate about the topics he teaches and he will explain it until you understand it. He really cares about his students. Homework just like any other classes, tests are fairly easy, and he is a pretty lenient grader. Would highly recommend him, one of the best math teachers I have ever had.
The professor makes the class very engaging and interesting which makes it easy to do well. The final exam will bring you down a great amount so be prepared to go down at least a letter grade. I recommend attending every class and taking notes.
I learned really well from him. He's very systematic and shows clearly (98% of the time) how he got from point A to point B. Beware of the challenge problems, every time I had them I'd go get help and no one could really help me. Also he isn't good about giving help. He gives just enough that he isn't helping you but he is. He's a good prof though.
Very genuine guy who actually cares about your understanding of the material, unlike many other professors. He's very approachable and willing to work at whatever pace is best for you. Office hours also help a lot with the course. His tests are pretty easy and he prepares you well for them, however the final is very hard.
Prof David is so passionate about the subject. You can tell he loves what he is doing and will try to get you to love it as well. Very organized and well thought lectures. His office hours are recommended, willing to help if you are willing to learn! I've seen him stay hours after his office hours are over just to help students. Overall: great.
This teacher has been amazing. He is great at explaining the topics and is helpful. Quizzes are easy , and exams.
I had to retake Calc and I am upset I haven't had this professor before. His lectures are easy to follow, he is easy to understand. He lets you ask questions and gives you a ton of examples to help you comprehend. Quizzes are super easy (you practically don't have to study). On homework if you miss the date you still can finish with partial credit
David is quite possibly the greatest professor at this University. Never goes through slideshows and writes EVERYTHING on the board, one thing at a time. Derives the formulas so that you know the WHY behind equations and you're not just memorizing them. Very awesome at answering questions and is more-than-willing to help out students.
He is hands down, the best professor I've ever had. He goes over the material in detail and explains everything. Quizzes and tests were easy, the material on them was always gone over in class, never surprises. I seriously recommend him.
Dr. David Gajewski is an absolute unit. The University of Toledo should be PROUD to have a professor like him grace their campus. We are not worthy. He the GOAT, keep it . Love ya, Dave. Keep up the good work.
David is one of the most genuine professors I have yet to come across. He is more than willing to help his students and goes out of his way to help others. He is insanely smart and is passionate about what he teaches. His teaching involves understanding concepts instead of just memorizing formulas. Awesome guy!
One of the best Calc professors ever
He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. However, in calc 2 he changed the weighting a few times (not in the students favor) so my grade dropped a total of at least 10% in the final weighting than what it had been in the original weighting. It seems like this is the only time he's done that. He's a great professor though. 10/10.
Love taking this professor for Calc 1 . Explains everything well, is willing to help. Best math professor at the university of toledo
David is genuinely one of the sweetest professors I have ever met. His lectures are so helpful and he's always willing to help anyone who doesn't understand. He is insanely smart and always explains every concept. Definitely one of my favorite professors.
Take this guy as much as you can! Very funny and respectable, quizzes once a week on Thursdays. Recitation and lectures are not mandatory attendance, but they do help out a lot. His tests and very straightforward, if you study what he lectures you will get an A. You do get a lot of math homework online, but I highly recommend! My favorite professor
He gives you a good lecture go on questions but he goes too fast not everyone understands we have final and the Professor didnt even bother to do review he was teaching us new methods and his grading is hard no points for homework only tests and final he need to take care of students who are failing but he didnt care
Seriously, Gajewski is the BEST professor at UT, not just in math but in all the departments. This man goes out of his way to ensure students are doing well in class. Super accessible and helpful outside of class too. 10/10
Dr. G is the best professor I have had at UT. He goes out of his way to help you out. Do the extra credit! he gives a lot. He's super nice, sometimes he goes too slow during lectures but really just wants the students to understand the material. I had him in class a year ago and he's still helping me with other classes.
Calculus is difficult by nature, but he was always able to answer questions during his office hours and I ended up doing pretty well in the class. Explained things really well in lectures. Plus he's just a genuinely nice person!
Best math professor I've ever had. I genuinely enjoyed going to Calc II, and this man explained everything in the best and simplest possible way. He managed to make an extremely difficult course into a breeze (provided you study 1-2 hours a day). If you're taking Calc II, for yours and your GPA's sake, choose this professor.
I took this class during the first semester of my freshman year. He was the best prof I had all semester. He always made jokes but made sure we kept up with the syllabus. He offered to help us with next sem.'s math even if he wasn't teaching it, I was worried ab a math class online but he was great, really concise notes. Exam was just like the Hw!
Dr. Gajewski was a great lecturer (minus a few mess-ups here and there) and had a set schedule for quizzes and homework. My biggest concern for future classes is his exam structure. Dr. Gajewski would present questions never seen in class examples, homework, or even quizzes. He seemingly made the exam questions exponentially harder.
I had Professor Gajewski during fall 2020 so we were online. Honestly probably the best professor I have ever had. He really cares about his students and teaches his lectures very well and easy to understand. His tests are really easy and they are just like the hw He is funny and likes to keep the students engaged. If you have the chance TAKE HIM!!
Great Professor!
Dr. Gajewski was a great professor. The lectures were kind of boring but he really covered the material well and was easy to understand. The exams were also ridiculously easy so I really didn't have to study for them. All in all, he is a really great professor.
Gajewski is the most caring math professor you will meet. I rearrange my schedule to take his classes. His quizzes and tests are very fair and similar to examples/hw. His projects for Honors calc II are difficult, but he grades pretty nicely. He is also super helpful in his office hours.
Dr. David is such a great professor. He explains everything in detail and keeps the class' attention with his corny jokes. He is a very sweet person and is always ready to help with assignments and understanding the course content. He also keeps a very good pace with teaching the material, it is not too fast and it is not too slow. Take him!
If he teaches ANY math section, TAKE HIM. He gives clear lectures and tries very hard to ensure you understand the material. He is a very generous grader on exams. He rocks denim.
Mr. Gajewski is an amazing teacher. He breaks things down so it's not difficult. Just make sure to write good notes and to study for the exams and you should be fine.
Prof. Gajewski is the best math teacher Ive ever had. His lectures are very understandable and the material isn't too hard. Quizzes every friday, but theyre short and easy. Theres 3 exams, and 1 final. Theres also homework over each section but theyre easy as well. Attendance isnt mandatory but it is very easy to get behind if you dont show up!
Lectures could get boring when but overall he tried to keep it fun. Homework was pretty easy and came right from class. He genuinely cared about teaching and tried to keep everyone engaged. Very nice, would recommend.
David is the best professor you can take for Calc I. He is fantastic at explaining things, plus he throws in a few jokes in order to make the content more entertaining. No calculators allowed, but the class has simple problems that can be done without one. Class is test and quiz heavy, but that's standard for college math. Great prof for Calc 1!
Gajewski is by far UT's best math prof. Diffy Qs was hard at times, but he made an A pretty achievable, and he never fails to give clear lectures. Textbook did not need to be purchased, found it online for free.
Amazing professor that is funny and knowledgeable, he cares about the students and their grades as long as you give an effort. He is an easy grader that does his best to give you partial credit. A must-take!
Took him for Calc II right after I had him for Calc I. He's an amazing lecturer who knows how to break down difficult material for students. He has a great sense of humor that lightens up classes. Online HW is much more difficult than tests/quizzes, and he's an easy grader w/ partial credit. Best math professor I've had at the University of Toledo!
He is an amazing professor, very caring. I'm not the best at math but he made the content easy to understand. Exams are easier than quizzes and hw. Theres a quiz every week and an exam every 3 quizzes. Make sure to go to his office hours if you don't understand a topic. Grades very easy as well.
Gajewski was by far the best math professor I have ever had. He made some of the most difficult content so easy for me to understand and I cannot say enough good things about him! I had him for Calc I and I wish I had him for Calc II as well because he genuinely makes math enjoyable to learn. I definitely reccommend!
Dr. Gajewski is one of the kindest and most caring professors I have ever had. He actually cares about his students and how they do in his class. Don't be afraid to ask questions because he always has the answers. His lectures are very easy, with notes and problem-solving all at once. His grading system is based on homework, quizzes, and tests.
He will be one of the best math professors you will ever take here
The best professor I've ever had. He's super helpful and lets you take missed quizzes at test center. He drops the two lowest grades on quizzes. Classes are not boring at all and you actually learn the material if you regularly attend the classes. He also referred me for a job I was being interviewed for which was really nice of him.
Went a bit slow, so at the end of the semester the class picked up in speed, but was not bad.
Dr. Gajewski is a great professor! His lectures were easy to follow because he introduced a concept, and then we did a bunch of practice problems. There never seemed to be jumps in logic in this course. The exams are written, and he usually assigns partial credit if you are on the right track or attempt the problem. I highly recommend him!
He is a stand-up guy who has funny math jokes and explains the topic well. Definity recommend!
Dr. Gajewski is a great professor.
I love Dr. Gajewski, one of the kindest souls on the planet. Next to Professor Gibbs. He knows how to teach and that the only way to learn the material in math is to practice it. So, he spends a good time in class doing practice problems with us.
This guy is so understanding about everything and anything that could go wrong. Miss an exam? Next to no questions asked, immediately sends it to the testing center. He even sent my Final there because I messed up the times! You absolutely don't get many professors this understanding anywhere else! Just make sure to thank him!!
best professor by far at UT, no questions asked. His office hours were always busy.
David was a really nice guy and a great professor. His class is graded by 10 quizzes with the two lowest being dropped, Homework, 3 exams and a final. his practice tests practically cover almost everything on the exams. Be careful of due dates for the homework as it is easy to fall behind.
He's good.
