easy A class. 3 individual speech, one group speech and one take home test. Very lenient professor who gives extra credit points for each of the speech. Each speech is 5-7 minutes. Attendance is mandatory.

Good professor, nice guy, but no pushover when it comes to grading. For each speech you must prepare a PowerPoint presentation which you will use as a visual aid. Do NOT read off the slides or your outline; only use them as a guide. Make sure to keep your speeches in the 5-7 min range. You'll lose points if you're late. Take him seriously, easy A.

One of the nicest professors I've had. He's always there to support you. If you're willing to do the required assignments you will do absolutely fine. Honestly, only lazy students did not get good grades and that sums it up. He responds To emails quickly and make him self available after class. If you practice your speech you will do well.

He is a great professor. I took him in Spring 16 and he was very straight forward about everything. There are eight online quizzes and four presentations, no finals. As long as u put in the work you will receive a good grade. He respects everyone. Just pay attention and you will be great

We had four speeches. He was clear about what he expected and was willing to meet before and after class if I had questions. He was always encouraging me to do the best I could and continue to improve. I really enjoyed this class and having him as a professor.

He is passionate about the importance of being an effective communicator through public speaking. He was very personable and got to know the students in the class.

I learned great methods to present speeches with confidence. I will definitely be using what I learned in this class for my summer internship. I really enjoyed the class and the professor. He is a good choice for COM 1010. He has four speeches, eight quizzes(drops the lowest) and no final. He is very clear about what he expects from the students and as long as it is done, you will get a good grade.

I had a great experience with this class, even though I was pretty scared of public speaking. His evaluation tells you what you need to improve on. Just practice your speeches and you will do really well. I thought this class was pretty easy...

I really have no idea to why Professor Gechlik have such a low grading. I am currently a freshman at Baruch college. I am taking his class and I really enjoy it. His class is so easy. His quizzes are all online and they are EASY too! This class is not part of my college stress. Your class grade depends on your speech presentations. PREPARE!

AMAZING professor, as long as you do the work the lowest grade you'll get is a B+! If you need to go on your phone, make sure you do it outside of class. Quizzes are open book, and if you do an extra two he will drop the lowest two. He's a fair grader and very friendly and welcome towards students. This was my favorite class this semester!!!

This was my favorite course of all of my courses this semester. I had a fun group of classmates with a really cool professor. The professor made it FUN and an enjoyable experience. I didn't see anyone in my class with lower than an A-. I hope I can take another class with him in the future.

This is the only class I got an A in this semester. There are four major speeches. He reviews what is required for each speech so you understand what is needed. I recommended my friend who registered for his class next semester.

I registered for this class with another professor two semesters ago and she was horrible. I dropped it and reregistered for it this Fall. I was so glad to be in this class. He's an easy professor. Gives easy quizzes based on readings (mostly common sense). Grade for the class is mainly based on the 4 speeches that you have to do. No final exam. Gives helpful feedback and has a clear grading system.

Class was lecture and discussion-based. the Professor did a great job of moderating and making the readings relevant, clear, and interesting. This is an easy A as long as you 1. do all the hw/quizzes and get 90+ on all the quizzes. They are very easy. 2. Get 90+ on all 4 presentations. Make sure you do everything he says in the outlines and according to the rubric. Do not miss any presentations. And make sure you bring in all the required papers and a recording device with you.

At first I dreaded having to take this class. I just finished the class and can honestly say this ended up being my favorite class. He made it interesting and was very funny. His easy going style helped students to feel at ease.. Excellent professor who pushes his students to work hard.

I was terrified of this class. English is not my first language. He made me feel good to be in this class. He makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. He is easily approachable and will always make time to answer your questions and help you. Be attentive and follow his guidelines and you should do well.

The professor made the communications class so much fun, it didn't even feel like schoolwork. Grading criteria is as clear as water. If you have a problem with him, you might want to re-evaluate your decision for higher education. It doesn't get any better then him.

This professor is truly amazing. Easiest A I've ever received. He grades off of 4 speeches, two of which require references. There are also online quizzes which are very easy. Attendance matters, you can miss two classes at most before it starts to affect your grade. Participate and follow the speech outlines(which he puts online). Again Easy A.

I am so glad that I had professor Gechlik this semester. In the beginning of the semester I wasn't looking forward to taking this class. My opinion has totally changed. He was very supportive of the students in the class and encouraged them to do their best. He responded very quickly to all my emails and answered all my questions.

He is such a nice guy! I really enjoyed this class. I have to say it was the highlight of my semester. He will make you work for the grade, so I won't say it 's an easy A. He had a lot of group activities which helped me feel more relaxed with my classmates when presenting. I highly recommend him and will tell my friends to take him.

Words can't do justice to how much I enjoyed this class. He is very funny at times, very helpful, and a good grader. Just come with a positive and ready to lear attitude and you will do well. He lets you know exactly what he wants.

The idea of taking a public speaking course initially terrified me, but Professor Gechlik made the class an enjoyable experience. He grades generously and his feedback is constructive. As long as you follow the clear assignment guidelines and rehearse your speeches (4 for the semester) then getting a good grade should be no problem.

One of the most influential professors I have had. David is very straightforward about what the course is about and how you are graded in it. It was great to see everyone in my class improve throughout our time in this course.

I thoroughly enjoyed the class and the professor. He is well organized and you have a clear sense of what you're graded on. At first I really dreaded taking this course, but with support from the other students in the class and the professor it really turned out to be a valuable course.

Prof. Gechlik made the online transition super easy, he made it seem like he had a plan all along! His grading criteria is very clear even though its a bit tough. Pick topics that interest you and you'll get a good grade. But, he's a little hard to read sometimes. FYI if your class doesn't break his "no phones" rule, your tests will be open book!

Prof. Gechlik is very well organized. I appreciate that he kept the course going by transitioning to online. (Another prof this semester just recorded some lectures and we never heard from him again.) He made the course interesting and gave specific feedback on what he was looking for. His exams and quizzes are easy as long you have the book.

Hes really passionate about speech so its good if you want to learn about a lot of aspects of communications. The class is a little nerve wrecking but hes very understanding and explains/ repeats what hes looking out for in a good speech.

Best speech communications professor ever!! Make sure to submit work on time bc he doesnt tolerate or accept late work. Practice your speeches before hand and follow his feedback. He is a decent professor. He is straightforward, will remind us what needs to be done and follows the syllabus so that we do not get confused. He is nice too and caring, just as long as you do the work and put in the effort, it will be an easy A. I would not mind taking his class again if I had the chance to.

He gives you clear ideas on how to improve. The class isn't difficult and long as you follow the sample outlines and do the speeches. He wants you to improve and lets you know he's available to meet with you as much as needed.

He gives feedback and tells what areas of improvement to be worked on better. Also, he provides outlines that can be used to follow and make perfect speeches and presenting with confidence.

He doesn't make the course more unbearable than it should be, and the grading is very clear. Try to participate when you can and pick interesting topics.

His class was not too hard. All the hw's were based on a textbook that you can download for free. He only asks for double spaced two page chapter summaries for hw which is really easy. I never read the full chapter only skim through it and write up my summary in like 20 minutes. There's 3 speeches, no quizzes, no tests. The speeches were okay.

Took his COM-2020 class for the Fall 2021 semester. Class was very easy and got an A in the class. One group project near the end, 10 question multiple choice quiz every week and a couple short speeches you have to do. Hardest part of the class is overcoming your anxiety and standing in front of the class to present your speeches.

This is a difficult course because there is a speech every week and there's not enough time to prepare. The professor is clear on what he expects and gives you immediate feedback so you know what to improve on.

This class is intense as there is a speech every week. Don't take this class if you can't attend every class meeting. He is will work with you and give you extra credit assignments at times. Whenever I had a question, he was able to respond to my emails quickly.

Great professor, he really cares about his students improving and for sure pushes you to be the best you can in his class. He gives extra credit opportunity and is extremely chill. If you have to take COM 3021, this is the professor you should choose. This class is a lot of work, a speech every single week but, with him it is more than possible!

The Professor is so amazing and straightforward. As long as you put in the work, pay attention, and follow what he instructs, you should be good to go! I took him in Summer 2022 as a 5 week course, and it was worth. Hence, people should sign up and take him as a professor for this course.

Sure this professor's course was a bit harder (more speeches) than the other COM 3021 classes that I heard of but honestly it wasn't insanely difficult. If anything the frequent presentations every week improved my speech skills ten-fold. As long as you put in the work and really want to improve your skills, you will do well.

He is a great professor who cares for his students. There are a good amount of speeches but he makes his grading criteria very simple and is not a tough grader. I recommend him 10/10.

Honestly, he's a great professor. His grading is a bit weird but, he's very lenient which was appreciated. As long as you do the basic requirements from the assigned speech, you literally cannot fail.

- you only come in to class to do your speech and then once everyone goes you leave. - just follow the directions given in the assigment and practice your speech to not go over the time limit or stutter so much - he has his moments of sass but just do what youre told and then if he says something just say "i did what the directions said to do"

Accurate professor and very outgoing. Don't use cell phones or any electronic devices unless he says so. Try your best to deliver speeches by following his comments. Dress formal and be on time.

Prof gechlik is a good prof I recommend taking him. He forces u to have your camera on or points will be taken off. I wish that was different bc its not easy to have my camera on all the time. Hes very straight to the point and wastes no time. There's an assignment due before every class and there not hard. If you submit late he doesn't accept it.

He may be stern and a little tense. but grading-wise, he's chill and fair. As long u follow his directions and practice ur speech, u will be fine. don't expect to ask him for extra credit or none of that tho lol

Must have camera on, took him during the 2025 spring semester. A very fair prof, good grading. My partner and I messed up our video interview assignment, he still graded us fairly and I still ended the class with an A. That being said, it was the only assignment I messed up, and I never missed a single class. Make sure to have good attendance.
