I hate Political Science. I've never spent so much time studing for a class, but I've never learned so much either. He definatly enjoyed teaching. I'd ask 100 questions every class because I didn't understand, and he would just keep explaining till I got it. He was a great teacher.
Prof. Goldberg is the best professor I've ever had in college. He presented the material extremely well, and was willing to answer any questions you had, no matter how often you need help. He expects a lot and if you are willing to put forth the effort, it will be the best learning experience ever.
This is an extremely difficult 100 level class. The amount of effort and eassay writing was not commensurate with the course level. I still got the "A". However, he is a great teacher and very helpful! Good Luck.
I took Professor Goldberg's American Politics course, and I very much enjoyed the class. I am currently in his International Relations course, and as the other class he remains very enthusiastic about the discussions and teaching in general. Good teacher, I highly recommend him.
This teacher is super difficult...if you want an easy simple class DO NOT take this class. He gives 2 test all essay and 1 research paper. That's it for the class. But I would not recommend you take him unless you want to really do alot of hard work. If you are a multiple choice or true/false kind of person then don't take this teachers class.
One of the best profs out there. I don't believe he expects a lot, u just have to put the time and effort into studying and u should be fine. Def possible to get an A, not just that, but u actually learn a lot from him. Definitely recommend him
Really nice, lots of discussion.
Go to class, take notes, listen, participate. He will answer all your questions. Test are essay, but he prepares u for them. Would take class with him again.
made the subject more interesting than I expected, but tests were too much and the research paper was hell.
I took two classes with Goldberg because I enjoyed him so much. His classes are very interesting, pretty easy, and he is really awesome.

Best professor at COD
He is a great teacher. He knows what he is talking about and will answer every question like an expert. Class consists of Midterm, Final, Paper, and Group Presentation.
Great guy; funny, smart, and easy going. My gripe witht the class was that it was too easy going (policies, deadlines, discussion, attendence), which can lead to a lack of motivation and even apathy. I'm sure some love that, but after a while I found myself asking "Why even show up when the notes are on-line and the sbuject matter is so simple?"
This is my second class with Prof. Goldberg. He is an amazing teacher. He knows the material, is very objective and unbiased, and is very easy going. Anyone going into political science should definitely take his classes.
definitely the BEST TEACHER AT COD! He's funny, keeps you interested and makes you wonder at the end of it all what on earth he's doing at a community college
The person from 5/16/06 has it right. The class met 5 days a week, I showed up maybe twice a week on average, got a B on both of the tests and a 96/100 on my paper. Apathy definetly took over after a while. He is really easy going. If you dont like class, but dont mind studying and writing a darn fine research paper Goldberg is your man.
Great Teacher, Very Clear, Funny, unbiased..everything you want in a pol sci class.
I really enjoyed this class. He was not actually that easy going with my group, but he was incredibly interesting. I had a three hour class with him, and I was never bored! That says a lot! Be prepared to work, but also to learn. He is worth taking for sure!
Great professor, very professional, and really knows his stuff. The tests were challenging, but not impossible, especially if you attended class. The only issue I had with this professor was the fact that, though he encouraged students to share their opinion, he would mock them just as well.
Informative lectures. Keeps class on task. Not overbearing with assignments. Makes sure everyone understands material and can answer any peripheral question with ease. Uses humor which helps. Very little need to buy textbook, however. Best part about the class is the friendly debates he allows between classmates.
Wonderful Professor! Class was interesting and educational, yet fun and personable. Dr. Goldberg was proactive and interested in each of his student’s individually. I transferred in to his class due to a horrible experience with a previous teacher. (See posting on 8/1/07 for Dr. Kathy Sedille)
He's the best professor I've ever had! He's funny and keeps lectures interesting. He's very knowledgeable and is never biased on issues. He's definitely the best
Decent teacher. Normally pretty laid back and funny, however doesn't seem very enthusiastic about the material. Could be better at encouraging open debate and presenting the material in a more organized manner.
Honors. He is the best professor. He was very approachable when I needed help. His lectures were very interesting and every day in class is very important because his lectures are used on the tests. He did a good job of keeping students involved in the discussions. He was very clear on what he expected of us as well. Students need to study.
He is very helpful and nice. But his lectures are very boring and the midterm and the final are really hard.
He is a great teacher. He mixes a little humor in his teaching which keeps class interesting. He explains lessons thoroughly and has alot of group discussions. He does not judge you or make you feel stupid for anything you say. My class had no homework, 3 tests and 1 7 page paper. Great class, great professor!
GREAT TEACHER!! gives powerpoint presentation the whole course, very easy to follow, also posts them online in case you miss. Small discussions periodically that relate to class. No homework besides reading, although you dont need the book. there are 3 exams, and he gives study guides for each, and a service learning 5 page paper, easy class.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! DAVID FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!! ^_^
This guy is a horrible teacher. His essays are damn near impossible to get a passing grade. His tests are also impossible. He has a very dull and monotoned voice. I took him once and I would never take him again.
Wow i cant even begin to tell you how boring that this man is. His tests are harder than you can imagine and he isnt a fair grader. This man puts me to sleep everytime he talks.
Awesome teacher. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Nice guy and funny guy. Does not judge you on your opinions and he is understanding about any issues. Tests are kind of hard but he gives a study guide. Whatever class he is teaching, you should take it!
Smart teacher, encyclopedic understanding of all political topics. NEVER once in the hours and hours of class discussion did he ever take a side or express an opinion about an issue. No bsing in his class because nothing gets past him. Assignments were very few and very tough. Great teacher overall.
Best professor I have ever had. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable but he is also wise. If you're open to learning about BOTH sides of an issue - take his class! However, I do not recommend taking his class if you're lazy, biased, and an unenthusiastic learner.
He is a GREAT professor. I honestly have very little interest in politics, but needed to take the class, but he actually made it interesting. He's funny and makes everything very easy to understand. Definitely need to go to class though to get the notes that aren't written in the power points or book. Great teacher overall!
Excellent teacher. Learned so much. No one-sided bias. Funny guy. Tests are difficult, but do-able. I couldn't compliment this teacher more. TAKE THIS CLASS!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He's obviously super knowledgeable, and his class was both informative and fun.
Best teacher at COD. He's funny, smart, helpful, personable and will tell you exactly what to study for. He is a tough grader so be prepared. He should be teaching at an Ivy League school - that's how great he is. If you're not interested in politics, you will be by the end of the course. Don't buy the textbook, you won't use it.
Funny, approachable and engaging. I learned valuable information about American history, politics and how it?s relevant to life. He presents unbiased opinions on controversial issues allowing the class to participate and draw conclusions on their own. Tests are challenging, study hard. Take notes and never miss class. YOU WANT HIM AS A PROFESSOR!!
He liked to encourage class participation. His teaching method was tough bc he taught like we already knew about everything he was talking about... was a difficult intro course but he is a good teacher. Sometimes was somewhat monotone. I attended every class and felt if i missed one id prob be lost w the material. was a nice guy overall
He is an amazing teacher, he has a really good sense of humor, and he is always there to help. he will let you turn in your paper ahead of time, and he will proof read it, and give it back, so you can fix it and get a better grade. offers good extra credit. all in all he was a great teacher, and gets you thinking! :) take him!!!
Great teacher! He's super intelligent, just full of so much knowledge. If you have a passion for politics, he is your teacher! Also he listens to great music, jokes a lot, and is pretty relaxed. Be ready to read. There really isn't anything to "complain" about with him. Take him!!!
Goldberg is an easy, helpfull guy, with a GREAT sense of humor. His teaching style is easy to follow and if you study for his tests, you'll pass with flying colors.
First of all I'm surprised that no one has said he was HOT yet! But besides that I loved this class and this professor! There were times in the class when it got "heated" between people and he quickly difused situations. Loved him!
Great guy - smart, articulated, and funny
Good teacher. Really cares about the students understand the material and is very clear about what he wants on papers/assignments. You can tell that he really enjoys teaching and Political Science.
He's one of the smartest professors I’ve had. He knows his stuff and how to articulate it. He encourages participation and is super helpful. There are three big things for your grade: a midterm, a term paper and a final exam. He is open to take home exams. Also, only get the Essential Readings as you rarely use the Rourke.
In a politics class, there are lots of opinions and he manages to keep everyone from fighting. Great moderator! The only grades come from 3 tests and a paper, so you have to do well on those. You can take the tests over 2 days so you can add to your answers. Loved reading Persepolis! Nice selections of countries & I learned a lot.
Very patient, courteous, and seemed to truly care how well his students did in his class. He made lectures interesting. I enjoyed the class. Make sure you read the chapters, take good notes and write a good paper, it counts for a lot of your grade.
Funny and entertaining professor. Presents both sides and doesn't favor one or the other. Lots of interesting class discussion. 3 tests worth 20% each, an 8 page paper worth 30%, and a free 10% participation grade for showing up and talking sometimes. Attendance mandatory (3 absences allowed before it affects your grade). Book was never used.
He's a good teacher and he cares about his students and how well they do, and how well he helps them. Make sure you study and start your paper well ahead of time. Those grades count for a lot. He's a nice man. Take him. And also, contribute to discussion in class. He likes that.
maybe he is a good proffessor in 1100 courses. exams never an A Essay extremely hard, he ties to find a way to do not pass you , confising lectures, i havent learn anything i bought the books and hardly use them, class start with lot of persons only a few finished. When you try totalk he ignores your hand and prefer to listento who he knows already
Good teacher, seems to want to help his students do well. The only complaint I have is that he said he'd mail me my paper and never did, which seemed strange. Could be a harmless mistake, but surprised me. However I would recommend him. He was good.
Very knowledgable about the subject he teaches. He is not the easiest grader and expects his students to read the textbook, study, and begin the paper early in the semester. He is above all fair and takes time to ensure you understand the material.
You never use the book in class, but all of the 3 tests that you take are not just from his lectures. you have to read the book because a lot of his test questions come from there. He's really great with involving the class with his lectures. He always gives tons of extra credit opportunities, and is very willing to help you out outside of class.
amazing teacheR. TEXTBOOK USE IS NECESSARY FOR EXAMS!! really really helpful in exams. i bet. 1 research paper and tests. mostly a lecture class.HE IS FUNNY!!!! if i happen to take anymore politics class, i would definitely take him. one of my favorites in COD.helpful. just be a good student. he loves participation.TAKE HIM !!
If you care about your education, you'll take this teacher. Brilliant man and very helpful.
The teacher makes the class interesting and relates the concepts to everyday life. The topics that are covered can be very broad, this makes it difficult to get a good grade on the test unless you read all of the material in the text book. There are 3 tests worth 20%, 1 paper worth 30% and 10% for attendance and participation. He gives extra credit
Goldberg is awesome! The tests aren't very hard, you can pass easily by reading the chapters once. The paper is more difficult, but he is very helpful and will read rough drafts and things. HE IS SUPER FUNNY! You don't have to speak in class, but you should. It makes the entire class way more interesting.
I personally did not learn much as there was minimal interaction with the rest of my class. I ran into some technical problems throughout the semester and did not receive responses from the professor unless I really hounded him. He does not respond quick enough. I would not recommend him. However, he is very nice and accommodating.
Professor Goldberg is my favorite professor at COD. I'm an IR major, and I've taken two classes with him. His lectures are very engaging, and he openly encourages class participation and discussion. Professor G has a great sense of humor, and knows his subject very well. I like writing, so his usual 9 page paper doesn't really phase me. Take!
Likeable & knowledgeable teacher. Casual attendance policy but U will do better if U show up. There were about 3 tests & I found them difficult when I didn't read the chapter & apply myself. Take every extra credit opportunity offered- it helps. Teacher is fair & engaging.
First time taking a poli sci class and this teacher was very helpful. He is very nice and funny always available, only 2 tests, 1 group project, 1 10 page paper. He gives extra credit, if you want to do good GO TO CLASS! He actually makes the discussions interesting, overall great professor. I would recommend getting the book as well.
As an online professor, I think he lacked in many areas. Did not grade anything, so I had no idea if what I was doing was correct. Every time I'd email a question, he would not respond for three or four days after assignment is due. Perhaps because it is summer, but still very upset. Tough grader considering he did not state his expectations.
I took this class as someone who's NOT a polsci major or anything near it, which I feel put me at a disadvantage. If this is your major or you're really interested in it, take his class. He is funny, witty, doesn't assign much work, and loves to discuss, not just lecture. If not, well, it won't be the easiest A ever, but it will be interesting.
Class requires significant knowledge of current events and recent international history (since 1980s ish). Didn't have clear expectations. Kind of awkward.
He is great about connecting the material to a variety of things and encourages students to examine issues from different angles and is clearly knowledgeable and loves the subject. Engaging and a bit snarky in a funny way. He is not good about replying to emails but is great about face to face time so if you need something, ask in person.
Not that satisfied with his class to be honest. He doesn't give any homework, wants you to write a nine page paper, and doesn't give any review sheet for the midterm or final exam. He expects you to have written like six essays before you go into the exam and then only two of them actually come, won't even give you a clear essay question. on time
Professor Goldberg was by far one of my favorite professors at COD. I originally took the class just as a requirement. However, he introduced me to a bunch of new interesting things in political science with his offers of extra credit. He is super involved with all sorts of stuff at the school, and is all around a very nice guy.
Great Prof, had him in 3 classes and would do more. If you like PolySci then he gives you a great class with critical thinking and if you don't all you have to do is pay attention and you should have no problem doing great. No real homework and a few extra credit possibilities. A real college class.
He has a lot of real experience in Political Science outside of the classroom, runs the Model UN club at COD, and always uses real life examples when discussing theory. He is great, and you should take his class. If you are studying IR or Political Science, he is your guy! Your entire grade depends on a research paper and Midterm and Final.
Top 10 @ COD. Brilliantly snarky, dark sense of humor, start your paper early, pay attention and you will learn a lot. Be honest about what you know and what you think, try to stay focused when he gives long answers because he knows what he's talking about. His honors classes are well worth your time. It's a very healthy challenge.
Took him for 2 semesters, and was my fav teacher. TAKE HIM
If you don't have a lot of outside knowledge on foreign relations and politics, this is not the right class for you, the class often tangents on political relations. This class is also not structured very well curriculum wise, the exams are relatively easy to tackle but there is no homework or quiz buffer to help your grade. extra credit is offered
There's no homework or assignments beyond exams and a paper, but the expectations for the exam are made very clear and easy to study for. Learned a lot and really enjoyed his class!
Prof Goldberg is a great professor. He makes political science very interesting and easy to understand. Your grade is only based on 3 things, 1 long paper and 2 short answer tests. He gives clear instructions on what is expected. Would definitely take one of his classes again.
Professor Goldberg is a great teacher that truly cares about your own opinion on the lesson. He makes an effort to have entertaining discussions that involve the students as well. What's really nice is he doesn't make you buy a textbook for this course. You're graded based on two exams and an essay.
Took the honors class. 12+ page paper isn't too bad if you start early. He gives lots of detail during lecture, but they can get long. I took this class mostly for the human rights portion, but we didn't get to that due to corona. He offers extra credit. He has a sense of humor. He is flexible on due dates so communicate if you need to!
Not lots of work throughout the semester but a lot at one time. is a slow grader but a nice easy going guy. Don't take this class if you can't write papers. There is a 9 page essay as well as a lengthy midterm which are the main things that make up your grade. Gives a lot of extra credit but won't grade it till the end of the semester.
Prof Goldberg is amazing. He really helps you out if you ask for it and makes it really clear what he's looking for in each assingment. The assignments are few and rather lengthy, but you have a lot of time to do them. He is a very kind and funny professor. His grading is a little tough, but not out of this world. Definitely recommend.
Had taken an in-person class with him before this one, he was kind and funny. But in both, he took very long to respond to emails and grade assignments. He is also forgetful and difficult with any issues you have with needing extensions or technology, even if it is on his end. You will have to remind him constantly and he may still not correct it.
Seems like a nice dude, but is impossible to communicate with. Gives assignments that aren't even uploaded, doesn't know his own due dates, opened the class on blackboard three days into the semester, and never responds to emails. He's not the worst grader, homework is easy but lengthy. Only four grades in the class. Good luck trying to talk to him
He requires a few books, but you can find most online for free or cheaper. He is well-informed about the course material and a genuine professor. He doesn't grade harshly but fairly and he does give feedback on assignments. I highly recommend him as a professor
Lecture-oriented class, with a small number of assignments making up out-of-class work. Professor Goldberg is good at finding interesting material for presentations and assignments, which kept me engaged throughout the semester. Can be slow to respond. He's nice, and understanding of extensions with reasonable excuses. Bauhaus and Discharge fan 🤘
Great professor, at the beginning he focused on lecturing but moves on to making students work in groups and sharing opinions. He gives great real world examples. This class allows you to share your opinions while reasoning why. Like how he gave students the freedom on the topic of final paper, allows one to learn more about what they like.
Dr.Goldberg is amazing he has helped me so much and offers so much extra credit and he is amazing at explaining things . would totally take again
Very knowledgeable in his field
