I found his lectures incredibly boring. His notes are good though and he sincerely wants to help everyone. Just don't leave his class in teh middle of a lecture! He'll run after u! Hints to do well: Lectures - if u can survive then go, MT - I found it incredibly hard, Assignments - go to his sessions cuz he does them 4 u!, FINAL - very long...
excellent professor, excellent teaching skills, extremely devoted to students
He's a really really nice man, who actually wants you to do good... unless you leave early. Midterm is hard (NOT MC). Go to review sessions for MT/FE and assignments, read his musings and pray with all your heart not to get a marker named Hong.
AN AMAZING PROF! I now have him for Macro and am very pleased. Very interesting classes, because of the prof
a really great prof- wants all students to do well. holds review sessions for all assignments, the midterm, and the final exam. all lectures notes posted online. an interesting lecturer, does not talk too fast and will repeat information if asked. if you have an intro eco class, take it with gray!
Excellent Prof
Talks extremely slow. Freaks out if anyone gets up in the middle of lecture to use bathroom or leave. Fair marking scheme though material is hard. Overall not a bad prof once you get over his slow speech.
Good professor, easy to get a good mark; however, I highly suggest that he takes an anger management course!
Knows how to deliver the material in a very easy way. funny and tho sometimes has anger issues, very caring prof. gives marks easily to students that deserve it. if you work hard, go to class/DGD sessions, theres nothing to worry about.
tell me where can i find someone like this guy!!!
i never thought that i would ever like eco , but with gray it is a whole different story . i wish all profs were like him
I'm sure that he is a very nice man, however, this is the worst prof I have ever had. His 3 hour lectures dragged on and on, most annoying voice ever. I ended up dropping out to take another economics course because I just couldn't stand going to that class any more. :( AVOID!!!
Talks kind of weird, but explains things really well. Very passionate about the economics.
best professor! i wish were my teacher in all my courses!

great teacher, he's so weird but hilarious. He explains things clearly, his exams are fair and the assignments were pretty easy. Love him!
Really fair teacher, explains things very well. HIGHLY reccomend this teacher.
He's amazing for 1104. His notes are crystal clear, he explains everything very clearly in class and he's funny on top of it all. Just don't be late or walk out during his lecture. He takes that stuff personal. But all in all he's absolutely amazing. Love him!
he's so into economics its amazing. his lectures are always full of him ranting about his past jobs, he just gets so passionate! also, he refuses to teach if there's a bit of chatter in the class.
Good teacher. He explains very well and his tests are not hard!
Chuck Norris couldnt hold a candle to professor Gray.
Best Professor ever...excellent persone.I wish Ottawa U had more professors like him.
if anyone asked if i ever saw god, i would say yes because i saw the god of economics. easy assignments, easy exams, very clear slides and lectures. if u visit him in his office, he is very nice and kind
Youll enjoy it
Professor Gray is one of the best I have ever had in my life. His lectures are very clear, they attract attention, and convey the material in an amazing manner. Anyone that has ever had a lecture with him would tell you that they would definitely prefer to go to his lectures over any other. Kudos to him =D
Great Prof. You will enjoy!
Best teacher you will ever incounter in this university. He knows****. lets just say that. trust me, you will love his classes. if you go to his classes, you will get a A+ for sure.
Having him for first year he's an amazing prof. For a third year econometrics he's always late and makes his class run long because of that but he still presents his material well for the most part.
This Professor is the wierdest person ive ever met! Although he usually explains concepts well and gives a lot of example. The Mid term is easy the final is very very hard.
Good prof, but an extreamly hard class for first year. Midterms are not as easy as he maks them seem, the Final was way too long, and the over all class isnt too bad, but it is in your best interest to go to every lecture. Gray has is weird quirks and takes a bit to get used to, but not a bad prof.
(Review for both ECO 1102&1104) Oh god. <3 DG. Makes it easy to do well if you put the effort into it. Does not understand how to take a non-economic related breath. TAKE IT WITH HIM!!
Not as 'great' as people say, very hard to listen to. Helpful, but many of the TAs are incompetent markers and he did not seem to care much.
My biggest issue is that he teaches wayyyy toooo slllloooowwwwwllllyyyyy... we're not idiots!
Gray is the man... explainss everything as clear as possible while using examples to which everyone can relate to. Extremely knowledgable in labour economics; anybody could learn and understand the concepts with Gray teaching.
He makes class interesting and entertaining.
Great Prof. he dosent lecture he RANTS! and its very entertaining at times yes he does speak slowly but for people who take notes of what he is saying its great! He is very knowledgable and goes out of his way to help his students, like holding reveiw sessions for exams and assignments. Highly recommended, but he demands respect in his class.
i love himmm! he explains rly well and he gives very interesting examples which makes the material very clear. holds review sessions before the midterm and the final, as well as before assignments. had micro and macro with him, and enjoyed every minute of it! if u have david gray, consider yourself very lucky!
Goes through material too slowly, emphasizes events that occurred half a century ago, doesn't like when i watch youtube in his class
Hilarious, captivating and energetic
BEST PROF EVER! Quite an easy class if you read your notes. He is also very helpful when he has his office hours. Very nice person and hilarious at times. He taught me a lot and I really think he is the best professor around!
Fantastic. Entertaining and he really knows the material.
Best professor ever! He was my inspiration in first year!He totally should have received the award of Ontario's Best lecturer!
Oh, boy. Dr. Gray is a miracle worker - he turned the dismal science into something hysterically interesting. Despite his tics, he's an extremely knowledgable scholar and a fantastic teacher. If you're lucky, your economics class says "Gray, D" next to it. Absolute riot - he helped me for other classes, too! Total hero - fantastic prof.
I really love this guy. I took ECO 1104 and 1102 with him. His lectures are a blast, informative and entertaining. He is really passionate about economics to the point that I considered switching. He goes the extra miles to help students by providing extra labs and sessions. I find the midterms harder than his finals.. just mind your P and Q's. ;)
changed my schedule so I could have him for both eco1104 and 1102. raddest prof at u of o. total bro.
Wonderful Professor. He truly cares about his students and posts so much information that, unless you're trying to, you can't fail. His supply and demand rap is absolutely histerical. Loved him as a proffessor and I got some of the best grades in his class. Final is multiple choice.
This prof made me realize how incredible economics really is. His lectures are to the point, his jokes and anecdotes are hilarious, and he knows how to demand respect from his students. He is a slow talker at times, but at least he gives students enough time to write down what he says. Do the APLIA and you'll get at least a B.
David Gray is the best lecturer at the University of Ottawa. Shortly after his class I changed my religion on facebook to David Gray.
BEST PROF IN THE WORLD. I have yet to encounter a better professor than him in my undergraduate education. Great ppts, clear exams, holds review sessions before every assignment and exam. He's funny too. TAKE HIM! and if you cant because its full, find a way.
Had him for both ECO 1104 and 1102. Awesome Professor. Explains the material really well. Mid-terms are mostly short answer, final is all multiple choice. Highly recommend this professor, probably one of my favorites so far.
What else can I say? :)
I came in not interested in economics and came out completly hooked on university lectures! His was the 1rst class I ever took and it left a great impression. Gotta love his rendition of 'Material Girl'
Had him for Intro to Macro & Micro. Very good at explaining economic concepts. If this material is intuitive to you, there is no need to attend most of the (slow-moving) classes. Averages are fairly low, but probably because many students take the course who just don't get economics. Use tact if you need to have a grade reviewed by him.
Too much hype surrounding him. He's nice but he is hard to understand and annoying to listen to( takes minutes to formulate a sentence and then repeats himself x3).Disliked his class.
awesome prof, really knows his stuff. great notes, musings are helpful and very informative. you come out of his class KNOWING more, not just memorized more. terminology a little complex but its realistic. funny too :)
Worst professor i've ever had, possibly the most irritating person i've ever met. Crams way too much material onto mid terms and doesn't give enough time to complete. You could probably skip every lecture and just read his notes to pass the class, and if you are unlucky enough to draw him as a prof, i would suggest that you do.
Quite frankly he stopped caring. The best professor I ever had up until Population and Labour Economics. The class average was a 58% on the most difficult final I have taken at U of O. More than 25 percent failed his final. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE AND TAKE THIS CLASS THINKING IT WILL BE ANYTHING LIKE ECO1104 or ECO1102.
He is a very interesting person. His notes is very useful, but his test is not easy.
Awesome Prof. So helpful.
David Gray is an amazing Professor who cares about his students. He posts all the slides online, with his musings on every chapter. He hosts sessions to help students for assignments. Dr. Gray is always available for help. His lectures are very exciting, you will not fall asleep in this one. Take his course and try, you will get a good mark.
NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS!! terrible class, grades exams extremely strictly, Mutliple choices are always 5 choices per question and all of the answers are right but on of the 5 is the best answer!(worst type of multiple choice question) gets mad when studentgs don't show up and takes that anger out on the grades. Overall terrible class Labour econ
Consider yourself lucky if you get Gray as a prof. Entertaining, fair, and extremely intelligent. Although he expects a lot from his students, a little hard work and sacrifice will pay off. Excellent!
Funny professor. Pretty clear. As long as u study and listen to his lecture, u will get an A. Midterm hard but final super easy (100 multiple choice).
Very slow approach to teaching concepts content that is very light.Very esy marker and very receptive to grade adjustments. The problem lies in mandatory online assignments due throughout the semester. They are relatively easy and keep you up to date, the problem lies with the fact that DURING exams I still had to complete these quizes...
First year I was extremely skeptical of his teaching methods (he's quiet a show, everyone knows it) but with experience/age/knowledge, I realize now that Grey was simply the BEST prof there is at Uottawa. The man is higly intelligent and understands students (even though you can never tell). Those serious about ECON, hold on to him.
Worst prof ever, mean and madly selfish person. Never try to argue anything with him,it is just piss off him. The exam is very difficult.
Definitely an entertaining professor, but don't attend if you intend to do anything other than focus on his class; he's on the prowl for this type of behaviour. He makes the material interesting enough that it beats just teaching yourself at home. Average marker, friendly guy one-on-one, and his words have a tendency of sticking.
This man is a genius; once you are able to look past the oddities here and there, you see that everything he says is extremely important. He does everything he can to help you pass, which I've never seen in a prof - and even holds review sessions for us on his own time! Regardless of what grade I get, he's the best prof at the school. Period.
AWESOME prof! Hilarious lectures and makes it interesting. holds labs for assignments on his own time; GO TO THEM! you will get 100 on each one because he tells you exactly what to do and how to do it. midterm was tough but final was easy. great slides and assignments really help with course content. if you can take him do it!
really nice and tries his best to help his students, best prof at uottawa.
I don't understand how David Gray got on overall rating of 4.2. I respect him because he's very approachable outside of class (also gets back to his emails very quickly). But the way he lectures is very confusing. Also, his "review" sessions are absolutely useless, and he tries to rush students through their midterms. Do not underestimate him!
VERY good professor. He knows ECONOMIC really well and can explain it very well. Some people might find his lectures weird but thats his style. His exams are not hard at all but he doesnt give you so much time so you better be prepared. Assignments are really free mark. DOEST LET ANYONE LEAVE EARLY NOT EVEN A MINUTE
best professor i've had this semester
very helpful . very knowledgable on subject matter. lectures are engaging and informative, and lecture slides are well written. Clear on expectations for exams. one of the best prof's I've had so far.
He is awesome and responsible!!!! The best economics teacher!!!!
A really, really good professor who cares about his students. His lectures are slow going but he likes to make sure that his students understand the content. His teaching style is entertaining as he runs and jumps around the room. He is very approachable.A very good prof,I recommend that if you have the chance to take a class with him than go for it!
very helpful! u can learn a lot from his class!
What a swell guy! After writing each of my midterm I went to his office to review where I had lost marks, after a few minutes of illustrations my grade had risen 14%. He rode my longboard to the elevator then wished me a good day. Highly recommend switching into his class
He is a great prof! Makes class very interesting. His lecturing style can be difficult to get used to but he loves what he does. His exams are very difficult.
Really interesting, pretty hard to fall asleep since he's very expressive and always doing funny things. Exams are easy if you know your stuff.
Really interesting lectures. Really good prof who relates materiel with real world stuff.
David is great person and more importantly a great professor. Although he does not give multiple choice mid terms like other profs, his mid terms can be really easy if you study! His lectures are very funny even with dry material often at times. TAKE HIS CLASS! You will enjoy economics!
He cares about his students, is super entertaining and very fair. He posts all the slides online, but don't miss his class, he sometimes says things that will be on his exams and he's very funny and entertaining! Class average was pretty low but if you put in the time/effort you will get a good mark. Definitely recommend his class!!
He was a pretty good prof I hate economics but he seems to understand that a lot of his students don't really have a passion for economics. He uses online resources and is really helpful. Does extra study classes for exams too
The best prof I have had thus far in University. Impossible to fall asleep in his class and he covers the material really well. With a little effort midterms are simple. Be cautious of the final, mine was 100MC and his midterms had no MC so I found it really tough. Best of luck!
Amazing prof. Totally worth the price of admission.
Cares way to much about his lectures. Consistently stops lectures to make comments about people leaving or not coming to class. His mid-terms are hard and barely the same as course material. Very last minute when it comes midterm review sessions and assignment review sessions.
Professor Gray is very animated in his teachings. It is important to go to class because he talks about the exams a lot. Fun to listen to even though it is pretty boring material.
He's a beauty.
Great teacher, his lectures can be a bit long because he speaks slowly, but his powerpoints are filled with useful information. Always there for his students, go to ALL lab sessions, he will basically give you the answers. Will be taking his class for macro economics next semester. There are weekly online assignments which can be a bit annoying.
It's a gamble. Some classes I have had with her were amazing, the grading criteria was clear and he had amazing lectures. For other classes, I found that the material just wasn't made clear, and exams were painfully long and the class average was was a near fail. He can convey the boring-est material in an amazing way, he's pretty funny.
Lectures are thoughtful and well organized. Provides extra sessions before assignments and exams. Very funny examples to portray content and overall just fantastic.
Great prof! He is clear in his lectures and expectations. He is hilarious! If you need a prof for micro or macro first year he is the prof for you. Aplia may be a pain in the ass but it is a mark booster.
Really animated however can be confusing at times. Lectures till the last second and doesn't like people leaving early. Usually has very large classes (ours was 400 people). Holds VERY HELPFUL review sessions for all midterms and assignments. Two assignments and weekly quizzes are mark boosters. Midterms were very hard but final was pretty fair.
His lectures are great, he's animated and presents the information well. He definitely knows what he's talking about. Provides labs and review sessions for assignments and midterms which can be a major help. His midterms are crazy hard, but Aplia is an easy mark booster if you put the time in. Overall he's hilarious and is a great prof!
Easy class, just read the textbook, as he completely overcomplicates simple ideas making them impossible to understand. Very rude and yells a lot, jumping around, so i guess its entertaining. Practice exam questions are word for word his exams. If you don't go to class and read textbook easy A.
He knows the topic very well but his classes are hard to follow along. Might as well read the whole textbook as his notes are very confusing. Midterms are alright. His assignments definitely helps raise your mark up. He is a very organized prof however.
Great lecturer and always answers back to emails and questions very quickly. All the tests very clearly reflect what was taught, and he gives samples from past years which are a huge help. Gives two assignments and online assignments which really help to boost your mark. Only downsides is that the midterms had 45 min limits. Take this prof
Absolutely loved his class! His lectures are interesting and hilarious! I'm honestly going to miss his class. His midterms are not very difficult but you have to study and know the material very well. If you can, take his class you won't regret it
Material for ECO 3150 wasn't tough, but it was dull; David Gray made learning easier and he thoroughly explained all concepts. If you go to class and write down everything he says, you will get a good grade in the course.
Overall, an average prof. His midterms are very hard, but the final is super easy. His lectures are ones where it is impossible to fall asleep, because he runs around the room yelling. He does know everything he is teaching, and barely looks at the slides.
Gray is one of the best profs I've had so far! his teaching style stops me from falling asleep in the dim auditorium! he gives many chances for you to boost your marks, which is great!
responsible, respected, recommended
Exams are not easy, but a lot of practices are helpful.
Amazing teacher, well deserved to be in the top 10 of Ontario's best professors.
Best prof!
May seem scary at first, but is very helpful. He's one of those profs that want his students to do good. Take his class you won't regret it :)
Pretty hard prog but gives extra marks
David Gray is a legend . His teaching methods are weird at first but you'll grow to love him. Tells you exactly what will be on the exam . Easiest class ever taken or maybe it was just how he taught it .
Prof. Gray may be unique, but he speaks way too slowly and still consistently put me to sleep every class... despite the yelling. You will notice that most of his lecturing consists of him reading the slides and repeating things over and over. Assignments are long but midterm was fair. Was expecting great things from this prof but very disappointed
This guy is great. He seems crazy at first but eventually you realize taht is just his way of engaging the class. He wants his students to succeed as his Blackboard content reflects. With every chapter he posts both the lecture slides along with a musings file which explains his expectations for your understanding. Fair grades but exams can be hard
Professor Gray was by far the worst prof I have had in University. His "crazy" actions in class some considered engaging I felt were quite distracting and ultimately discouraged me from paying attention in class. His desire for students to stay off of social media is understandable, but his approach is to stopping it was extremely wasteful.
He's not THAT bad of a professor, but this course makes you want to hate him. His exams are really hard. He's quite fair with marking (if you want him to regrade some questions on your midterm, he will and try to give you some more marks). I pay attention during his lectures, but found that you really need to read the textbook to fully understand.
David Gray talks at a speed of 5 wordsminute, thinks that repeating a phrase 10x over will drill it into your brain, yells periodically to keep people awake, makes the simplest concepts confusing, and will rip you apart with his final exam. His slides are wordy, class is incredibly boring, and assignments are tedious. Avoid him at all costs.
His one redeeming quality is that he tries to help by holding review sessions and assignment sessions. He takes off lots of marks for little things on assignments and his tests are quite difficult and time constrained. He doesn't use lecture time efficiently because he talks incredibly slowly, which makes him difficult to listen to.
David Gray is the most overrated professor at the University of Ottawa. He is one of the most annoying lecturers I've ever listened to. He screams so loud that I my ears felt physical pain. He tries so hard to be funny but ends up just being loud, annoying, and inconsiderate. I performed well in his class, but it is no thanks to him.
1102 was much tougher than 1104! overall he is a good prof, he does want his students to do well! his lectures run the whole 1hr 20min, which shouldn't be surprising. he talks slow, but for someone who types what he says in lectures, its really helpful, since why would you make notes on the slides when he posts them online...
He is dedicated to his profession. His teaching style fits my learning customs. However, I find him being overly dramatic sometime, hopefully he is calm in real life. I recommend him as a lecturer, although I had to drop his class since I did not do well for the midterm. Take good notes (write down every word he says) is the way to excel in class.
Really tough and boring prof. Avoid his classes. Makes concepts difficult to understand. Not very helpful and doesn't explain things clearly. Long lectures and really hard tests and exam. Doesn't do a good job of answering questions even during office hours. Grading expectations are not clear and takes a long time to return marks.
Long, boring lectures. Mid term was fair, but exam was extremely tough. Offered resubmissions of midterm, which was helpful. Would recommend only if you are highly interested in the course.
Lectures are so long and boring. I didn't show up to more than 5 in the semester. However, he is very clear and active through blackboard of what is expected in assignments test. Aplia makes up a lot of your mark and helps you not fall behind to actually do them! 2 easy (but long) assignment as mark booster. Easy course if you take his advice!
David Gray is a very intersesting teacher. He really knows his stuff and makes some good jokes while he teaches. His tests are usually very long and a little bit hard but he gives a lot of extra assignments which are easy and help boost your mark. He holds laboratory sessions which are very useful but will sometimes get angry when asked questions.
One of the most engaging professors at the University of Ottawa. He will make you look forward to coming to class. I've been warned about his difficulty in higher-year courses but Intro to micro-macro is an easy A. My university education wouldn't have been fulfilling without having had this professor. Midterms are fair but you can't wing it.
This guy is an absolute legend. Genuinely cares about the success of his students and is so funny. He'll associate many of things we're learning to past stories/experiences and good jokes. His tests are rather long, but they are very relevant to the lectures he gives. So yes... do attend class... every class...
David Gray is one of those Professors you don't forgot. He is tough and also a very odd man. If you like economics a lot and want a challenge, this is for you but be warned, its hard and a lot of work.
Even though the class is tough. u still want to go to class and listen to him. The home assignments are also hard, but it will improve you a lot.
The man is easily one of the most knowledgeable, eccentric, passionate, hilarious (if you catch on to dry humour), helpful professors at this dreary and Gray university. Applies what we learn in class to real life every lecture. Lots of work through Aplia. What I LOVED? He throws the most subtle shade towards uO it's fantastic.
Good prof, exams and midterms are fair, and there are a lot of "mark boosters" in the class, such as Aplia and two take home assignments which the other classes do not offer. He uses real life examples in class and in newspaper articles assigned for reading that connect theory to real life, which is helpful in engaging yourself with course content.
He is the best!!!!
If this course is not required or English is not your first language or you are not that interested in ECO, jut try to avoid him. He is an ok person and good prof, but his teaching didn't help me that much. I barely went to class after the second midterm but still passed this class.
He is the most responsible knowledgeable and passionate. He will give lots of assignments to let you easily get a high grade and the final exam is almost the same with the past exam. In general, I love him so much!!!!
He's a nice prof but gives us too many assignments. The course materials are just too easy, all you need to figure out is how to use proper English. The only difficulty for me is the language since you need to read and answer lots of questions for exams. Nonetheless, I guess getting an A for this course doesn't require too many efforts.
Awkward guy with a clear speech impediment however both of these things make him a better lecturer. He explains the material very well and gives easy work to bring your marks up. Watch out for the mid terms which I found difficult compared to the final and assignments.
One of the best profs I've had. With all the assignments, his course is time consuming. But (like with all courses), you get out what you put in.
Great prof over all. Economics can be difficult by nature but he takes it very slow and is always there for questions after the class or in office hours. He loves his students and economics. I would highly recommend you take his class.
David Gray is one of the best profs I've had. He is extremely fair and goes out of his way to help students do well in his classes. Economics is difficult and one of my problem areas but David Gray as a prof made it a lot easier for me. I would definitely recommend selecting him as a prof.
This has honestly been one of my favourite classes this year. Normally I zone out during lectures, but David Gray really keeps the lectures interesting. He's also very good at explaining the concepts, and is always available to help students out.
He is really nice and funny. His class is interesting but tough. However, the all assignments are useful.
I find him to both be clear and somewhat odd. His acting in class and changing in voice tone get some getting used to, but he is a really good prof, in my top 3.
The guy's a legend. If you're taking Micro or Macro at uOttawa, it has to be with David. Assignments and online homework through aplia are easy (most get 90+), midterms and final are hard (most get 60). Study hard, go to class, and you'll get your A like I did. My favorite first year prof.
He is a very nice person and an excellent Professor.
If you want to do well in this class, Gray has given you everything you need to succeed. Econ is hard but he gives you so many chances to bump your grades that if you're willing to put the work in, you'll do fine. Midterms were really fair and lectures are engaging. I've heard the final is going to be really difficult though
Excellent professor! Knows his stuff and delivers it in a clear manner. Attend class - he gives you everything you need to know to get a great mark. He posted his own questions and answers that were closely linked to his tests. Tests are tough but fair. He doesn't hand you anything (he shouldn't), but listen and do the work and you'll be fine.
He made probability and statistics exceptionally more fun and engaging. He linked it to real world events and was very clear in what he will test you for the midterms and exams. He offers lots of extra help outside class. What's most important is that you attend class! Attend it! And you will get an A+ if you work hard from there ^_^
I find that students either like him or dislike him. I personally didn't like him. His speech consisted of shouting with dragged on words, making it very difficult to focus. His notes were quite different from the textbook which felt like double the studying since some parts of the notes were more complicated than necessary.
He is tough but he really wants the student to understand economics and he takes time to conduct labs for students where he is unpaid.
Currently in class right now and I think he's hilarious. He pronounces every single syllable. Every single one. Lots of sound effects and has great style. You will 100% be inspired by this man. High-ly high-ly re-com-mend tak-ing this class with Da-vid Grey.
Very nice, helpful if you see him outside of class but not a great prof overall. Exams are EXTREMELY hard. His powerpoints are very lengthy and makes the material unnecessarily complicated. He posts a million articles you have to read because he does test on them.
great prof, great speech, care about students. BUT I DISLIKE HIM because he makes exams EXTREMELY HARD!! harder than my 3000/4000 level ADM courses.
His first midterm asked general questions and looked for specific answers. Answers that you only get by memorizing every word he says during lectures. Pray the TA's mark your tests as he is a rough marker. Very slow lectures and assignments are very time consuming in comparison to other classes that just do Aplia and get ez 20%.
Great prof. He might be a little boring sometimes but he's very passionate and truly wants his students to learn the material. He'll respond to emails properly and help as needed. I recommend him!
He was highly rated so thought he was worth a try. He yells and drags out his words, no response to emails, hes anal about when class ends, His lectures are very boring you would fall asleep if it wasn't for his yelling and screaming. His testing is no better, unreasonable questions with information you didn't know. change your prof if you can.
David Gray is not the typical prof. For some his flamboyant lecture styles are engaging and fun while others are rubbed the wrong way. I personally enjoyed his lectures however everyone varies. He explains concepts very well and is also good at re-grading if TA's mess up. Only critique is lectures run full time even if lesson is done.
He's very serious about the subject. Don't leave class early, he gets super mad. He's really helpful and he has extra sessions before midterms which I recommend going to. Also, go to the assignment sessions. You'll get an A if you do. If you don't, you definitely spend way more time and you wont get as good as a mark.
Lectures helped a lot, but he is easily distracted by students on phones and would interrupt class to reprimand them. Ended up losing out on time. He is very loud and kind of crazy, which made for lively classes for sure. Gives Aplia each week instead of bunching them all together.
Prof. Grey is a tough prof when it comes to grading and class discipline, but he is fair with marks and points out things on his slides that will be on the tests. He also does two assignments that are worth 15%, and most people get 95 and up. Overall, he is an awesome prof, just takes a little time to get used to. Work with him and you will do well
David Gray is the one of the greatest Microeconomics Professor at University of Ottawa. His Aplia, assignments, midterms, and exam are really easy. Nothing is too difficult, you just really need to read the book and understand. The expected average is in the 60's, however, an A- or A is easily obtainable if effort is given. Greatly recommended.
David Gray is incredibly passionate about what he teaches. His lectures are interesting, easy to follow, exciting, and funny. He will always clarify any misunderstandings without making you feel stupid. I had to drop his class half way through the semester for logistical reasons, but i still went when i could just to listen. it was at 8:30 am.
AMAZING GUY! He is genuinely interested in the subject, and his lectures often contain hilarious examples. All of his exams are super easy as long as you read the textbook on a regular basis. APLIA is an easy way to boost your mark even though it increases the workload. Overall, he is a great professor who definitely made Microeconomics enjoyable.
His lectures are very dry and boring but are mandatory in order to do well in the class. The midterms were not to bad but the final was made of only 100 multiple choice so it was a little harder.
excel assignments are a big pain but definitely a booster alongside aplia (he drops the lowest 10% of the grade for aplia). His lectures are very dry and not exciting, but he sure knows his stuff about economics. he's a tough grader as well, also re-evaluate your midterm if you can, it'll definitely increase your mark even if it's just by 1%.
Fantastic prof. He is hilarious and makes sure that lectures are interesting. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
David Gray made my first semester at the University of Ottawa memorable. His lectures consist of him yelling and running through the lecture hall, which really keeps you interested. He's very passionate about economics, which makes the subject more captivating. Workload is not too heavy, definitely recommend if you have to take Microeconomics.
Professor Gray is quite engaging, not to mention the funniest prof I've ever had. Pay attention in class and do the readings because it's NOT an easy class.
Fantastic prof, I studied very little for the class because his lectures were so entertaining and explained the content thoroughly. The midterms were both pretty hard, the final was multiple choice and much easier. As he often says, "don't memorize, conceptualize" and you will do well in this class. It's not as difficult as people make it out to be
He's definitely not worth taking as it is hard to understand him in lectures. He does yell and shout in class. However, his biggest issue is his unfair questions on your midterm and final. Our class average was extremely low! And he is not a nice prof to talk to, extremely awkward too. Do not take him if you can.
Looking back, one if my best profs I had in my years at UO.
Professor Gray is a very understanding professor. You can hand in assignments late with no penalty with good reason. He always makes sure students get their midterms back to study for the final. He is very lenient on assignments as he gives 2 freebies during the semester. He is a bit difficult to understand in lectures, though.
Hes a funny guy but I found this honestly distracting. I took this course because it was mandatory and Im not a big fan of the subject matter. This made it a really difficult course for me. I could see this being a good class if you are really interested in macroeconomics but otherwise you shouldnt take it.
Great guy
David Gray might as well be the best professor I've had. Had to classes with him, both great. He makes the content look easy, has good slides and tells funny stories to make the material more appealing. Will go out of his way to help you with extra classes and review sessions. If you follow his advice, his classes are easy A's.
I wish Prof Gray taught all my ECO courses. His lectures help you understand the readings and he gives a lot of examples. Each lecture covered a chapter of the textbook and there were weekly(? I think. It's been a while) quizzes online. There were two homework assignments that weren't too difficult. He and the TAs are easy to get a hold of.
Classes are things of legend and should be experienced by all students. His teaching style although slow is extremely captivating . He provides many funny interesting stories to reinforce concepts so be sure not to miss them. Exams are challenging but extremely fair. I STRONGLY recommend and remember there's no such thing as a free lunch !!!
Professor David Gray is the best teacher I've met in my first year. He is like old Jim Carrey who knows how to teach economics.
His a great professor but hard to understand what his saying. Vey passionate but a very tough grader. If i were you i would start prepping for my exams much more earlier.
If your first language is not English, then midterms gonna really hard for you, because you probably need to figure out what he expected you to answer in limited time. And trust me Final is a big challenge, too. but the connect works can totally be counted as free mark. Think carefully before enrolling
Professor is the worst professor in the world
I think that he was really fair and made expectations clear. He posts past midterm exams and they provide the exact way a question should be answered; study those and you will do well. The connect assignments strengthened understanding of the material and was generally a really good e-book compared to others.
Crazy at times but keeps things lively in the classroom most of the time.
He has an 'interesting' way to talking but he's a solid prof, would definitely recommend him! His midterms are all short answer and they're really not that hard if you understand the concepts. The fall 2018 textbook was really good, it easy to understand and 'fun' to read plus the Connect weekly assignments are really going to boost your mark.
just avoid
If every prof can teach like prof Gray, then I would like to study for 23 hours with only 1 hour to sleep.
He is an great professor and knows a lot. However, he marks hard and wants good short answers with lots of examples. Never study from the Connect Assignments, do all textbook questions. If you do that you can get an solid 70%.
Genuinely cares about his students, always holds extra sessions or office hours, clearly passionate about his field of study, very entertaining, methodological in his teaching technique. I intentionally try to take his classes he's the best!
Professor Gray is absolutely amazing. His class is so funny and clear that it is impossible for you to misunderstand something. Also, his midterm exams are very fair considering that past midterm exams are given. Generally, he is the best prof you can get in your first year.
David Gray is a fantastic professor. Easily the most dedicated, above-and-beyond, passionate lecturer and by far the best you can do in first year business economics courses. He has awesome materials online; make sure to attend the lectures because he places HUGE emphasis on important topics. Read his musings, do the previous midterms, get an A!
I loved his lectures. He is a brilliant man and changed my way of thinking. The Aplia quizzes really help you stay on top of things and study. Plus they are relatively easy marks. He is definitely accessible in office hours outside of class and is also willing to answer questions in class. He even holds review sessions before exams. He's great!!
Dr. Gray is quite innovative in teaching style and keeps attention during lectures. His expectations are very clear and has many resources/material available for students. He is great help outside of class and is ver clear on what to expect for midterms/papers (history of econ thought)/exams. I would recommend him to anyone in economics.
Best prof I have ever had. I'll remember this guy forever. Such a nice guy and basically gives away marks if you show up and work hard.
I am so sad to say that I have finished all of my first year classes that I could have possibly taken and can no longer take any more with him. Professor Gray is quite possibly the most entertaining and caring professors I have ever had. I hope he never changes! You rock Gray, keep being you
I personally didn't like his teaching style, though it was hard to pay attention. His slides are really hard to understand. He offered to regrade anybody's exam if they thought they deserved more marks. Study the past exams that he posts on brightspace! He reuses some questions. His final was tough, study hard for it. He's the better ECO prof there
very caring and entertaining prof, but it can be easy to zone out sometimes. midterms are fair, connect assignments will save ur life (worth 20% and u can do them w other ppl) but his final was VERY HARD. study in advance, read his musings and do the practice final because that exam was no joke! Regardless, hes the better choice for an econ prof
Really great professor! Super tough class for me, but 100% worth it because I understand the concepts really well now. Excellent lecturer who explains concepts slowly. If taking ECO1104, take his class!
Prof. Gray is a really impressive person and he makes hilarious jokes in class, as well as connects economics to daily life in a comprehensible way. However, his lecture slides are very difficult to understand, which made it really hard for me (as someone who hates & struggles with math) to keep up.
Get this man a raise. Golden professor of uOttawa.
I will admit I had a difficult time attending his lectures. Hes hard to listen to and doesnt let you leave early. Having said that, he posts everything you could possibly need on brightspace. Hes very fair when it comes to grading and his assignments arent hard. I rarely went to class and got a B. Read his musings! Theyre basically the lecture
He's honestly one of the funniest and quirkiest professors you'll ever have. He also knows his stuff. You better not just memorize, you gotta understand concepts as his midterms are all short answer. You have to practice connecting concepts and thinking about why they are useful, etc. Love you, David lol
Make sure you attend class seeing as it's free marks for attendance! His midterms are quite difficult but he provides previous midterms from past terms as study tools (which are SUPER helpful). His lectures are very interesting and he genuinely cares about his students success in the course. You'll get a great grade if you work hard!
Best prof I have had at Ottawa. He genuinely cares about his students, if any mistakes are made on midterm or exam questions he gives everyone perfect on the question. Great guy.
Very old school prof. Interesting lecture style but remember hes old school so with anything online its a hassle. Dont take him for ONLINE classes. In person he is fine.
After you get through the first few lectures and get used to him the classes are pretty good. You certainly don't lose focus in his classes but he does do a very good job of explaining concepts. He cares for his students as much as any other prof.
An amazing professor. Explains content well, & relates it to the real world. I would suggest attending every lecture, and you will not have to do MUCH reading because he explains everything in detail. But he gets really upset when people talk in class or are being distracting and he will stop teaching So don't be that guy. Its annoying.
Professor Gray was really funny and he will run around the lecture hall trying to teach the lesson. He tries to capture all the students attention. If you read the textbook, go to class, take lesson notes, and do the connect assignments you will do fine.
ECO1104 has a lot of content but Prof. Gray makes it all bearable. He wants you to succeed and tries his best to be fair. You won't find a better prof for this course than David Gray.
Really nice and funny. Uses personal stories as examples, very helpful. Classes aren't always interesting but it's ok. He also has a weird way of speaking but it's not hard to understand and he speaks very loud. If you pay attention to the lectures and read the textbook you'll be fine. Midterms are similar to examples and questions given in class.
Class ok, same as ECO 1104, only 2 midterm and Connect was worth more and 1 final. Funny and teaches well, gives you information that you need to know and answers your question best as possible. Learn a lot in each class so be prepare to write notes but the notes are very similar to textbook. Gives lots of examples and if you study you'll be fine.
He is a kind, patient and responsible prof, and I have learned a lot from this class because I have to read every ppt, course material and textbook, which is important to prepare every exam. A lot of quizzes and midterms, and they are hard.
Professor Gray is hilarious. His sense of humor and personal anecdotes make the dreadfully boring subject matter so much easier to swallow. Love this guy!
Boring
Such a funny prof which makes learning the content less painful. He genuinely cares about your success and is accessible outside of class to answer your Qs. Provides you with lots of resources to help you study and understand. Overall super nice guy
Kind and good prof
Very good prof. He makes his classes being interesting. He will help to boost your grade. His exams are not so tricky. He answers his emails and cared about student's achievement. He always posts slides. He says fun stuff during the lectures. If assignments are difficult, he will give hints to solve them. I would surely take him again.
With Gray & Lenjosek. Was incredibly stale. Every lecture was prerecorded. Gray has a stutter, which would be fine if he wasn't as monotone as he is. Weekly connect assignments are easy, I got a 97% without studying. The exam can replace the two midterms to be worth up to 80% of the final mark. The textbook is a must.
Gray is a hilarious professor who has many stories to share with the class, however the practise midterms provided were useless, and his actual midterm questions are super tough and ambiguous. A lot of the questions require too much from an intro level course. The median for the second midterm in this class was 58%, which is pretty low.
Prof. Gray taught this class with Prof. Lenjosek, and the first midterm was a cake walk. The material got very difficult after the first midterm and you really need to do the work each week to be successful. Second Midterm was tough. Textbook is absolutely necessary. Do the work each week and you'll be fine. Would recommend.
He was a knowledgeable prof but unfortunately for any visual learners it isn't the best class. He reads his slides and the textbook like a novel and it is very easy to get bored and distracted. Overall he knew what he was teaching and did a good job but needs to learn to make the lectures more fun.
More like a 2.5 in terms of difficulty. Read the textbook and do the "Problems and Applications" question because the weekly assignment questions comes from those. He answers emails pretty fast but may tell you to come to his office hours instead of answering your question. Lectures are prerecorded so you can watch whenever you want.
He's a very nice person and seems very knowledgeable and passionate in teaching this course, but I can't seem to concentrate or focus in his lectures because of his way of speaking. The course requires lots of reading, lectures are recommended, 20% of the course mark is easy to attain, rest is up to how you study and do on the midterms or exams.
Best teacher ever!!
The content itself is not that engaging, but Professor Gray does his best to keep students engages. He's very clear about what he expects from students and what content we should expect on the midterms. Holds group office hours where you review material (go to those). He's very understanding and easy to access through email. Wants you to do well.
Very good prof! Very nice guy and very caring. His midterms and final were fair. If you study the textbook and do practice questions you'll do well!
To sum up Dr. Gray: great person, awful professor. His online classes don't follow the course times you signed up for (ex. signed up for Monday classes, lectures are uploaded on Thursdays and tests are on the weekends.) Recycles his material (powerpoints, recorded lectures, musings, etc) and relies heavily on Connect - so lazy.
Lectures are boring and he barely replies to emails.
Not sure why his rating is so high on rate my prof. I found him very unorganized. He doesn't have a set plan and uploads lectures when he feels like it. He also expects you to teach yourself new concepts from the textbook alone without going over them in lectures. Not sure why I should pay university tuition to go teach myself from a textbook.
Lectures were disorganized to a point where I just stopped attending. Not sure if it's just because everything's online, but be prepared to teach yourself in this course.
I would not recommend taking a class with Prof. Gray. He talks at half speed, speed up the video lectures to 2x the speed and you'll get normal everyday talking speed. The lectures and slides do little to enhance or clarify any of the lecture material. Your best bet is to just rely on the textbook. It does a much better job teaching.
I just didn't like the class. Not a horrible prof, not an amazing one either. Will always have something due in this class. Exams are always on a time crunch and harder than what the other economic profs give.
David Gray is a good professor and he is very funny. However, his content on brightspace is disorganized and his lectures are extremely difficult to understand. As someone who has never taken macroeconomics and struggles with math; his lectures and way of teaching made it hard for me to learn anything.
As always, Prof Gray was great. He does good, detailed lectures that cover all of the material he expects you to know, and is very upfront about what you will be tested on during the lectures. Live sessions were lightly attended so Prof Gray essentially gave away connect marks. The influx of negative reviews are from students who didn't go to class
I LOVE David Gray. I am not an economics student but I took this class for preparing for grad school. He is genuinely the best professor I've ever had in any department. He takes the time to really explain things in both macro and micro (also the name of his two cats). He also gives great context to economic news. Take his courses you will love it!
Overall a really good prof. Lectures can be a little long but he explains everything well. Lectures are prerecorded and he has live zoom sessions to go over homework, practice problems, answer questions, go over tests, etc. Fair grader. Clear expectations. Questions on tests are mostly related to his lectures, specifically things he emphasizes.
The lectures were uploaded at different times during the week and were quite long and he also talks slow, so it's best to play them at 2x speed. In class, he would always answer questions and go over the assignments which was great. Midterms and final were very reflective of the course content and there weren't any tricks. Pretty solid prof
Funny, nice professor. Tests can be m/c, short answer and/or long answer. Pay attention in lectures, do the readings, and you should be fine. Some of the multiple-choice questions are unusual and answers debatable, but Prof Gray is always open to listening to students' concerns. (Note that I took the class during the pandemic)
There are pre-recoded lectures and live lectures. The pre-recorded lectures are not posted for ur scheduled lecture time. Attend the live lectures. Have weekly connect assignments. Midterms were short/long answer qs. Exam was multiple choice. Read the articles that prof posts cause they appear in the midterm.
The one thing I absolutely hated was the midterms. They took so long but we were given a short period of time to finish. The MCs were short answer questions and you had to pick the one that's most right. We had different opinions on what is right. I loved his lectures, his anecdotes were absolutely hilarious. asynchronous. If u can, avoid him.
If you are planning to take one of the classes he teaches in French. DONT this man literally does not speak French a bit. It is impossible to understand him
Seriously a really amazing prof. I struggle with math so much so I failed a math course last sem, and prof Gray explains in a way I understand and I'm genuinely interested. He provides so many resources to do well in class (lectures, problems, tutorials, textbook readings, summaries & important info on chapters) I'm impressed. My favourite prof!
All exams are difficult short answer questions
He is a very enthusiastic prof who is passionate about economics. The midterms were tough as you should not only understand how to apply concepts but also be able to describe them. Overall he was a great prof!
such a great prof! took this as an elective as a biochem major so i went in knowing nothing about econ, but he really does a great job of explaining concepts and puts emphasis on what you need to know. his midterms are easy short answer questions (if you study) and aplia quizzes are good practice. would take any course with gray again!
Too much to expect from a second-year class. Heavy course load! Do not enjoy this class at all, the worst optional class ever!
Professor Gray explains the course in a very entertaining way that makes it more enjoyable than I would have expected it to be. Just make sure to do the readings, as it is still a tough course!
Very captivating in his lectures and takes his time going through the slides. Weekly assignments are easy and midterm exams were fair in general if you took good notes during lectures BUT the final was a disaster. It wasn't written by him and he even admitted afterwards that it was not well suited for his students.
Great guy, not so great professor! He takes things very personally. Also, his lectures are really hard to follow and contain a quarter of the important information needed. Sometimes he'll just write his opinions instead, or say "Learn this on your own", but still gets mad when we don't attend lectures.
the syllabus said we didn't need to attend every class, but halfway through, the professor just changed that and started marking attendance. It threw a lot of us off since we'd planned around the original rule. Also, the way he explains stuff in class is pretty confusing, and it doesn't help that the exams are on things we barely covered.
He isn't a bad professor, but his lectures are not very engaging. I agree with the review that says he takes things too personal. I understand he shows up for the three hours to do his part, but we also spend hours learning on our own anyways. It shouldn't be easier to just read the textbook and slides if he wants attendance.
Really funny dude but is a bit whiny when it comes to attending lectures. Overall his midterms and final are super easy.
I dont know why this guy is rated so high, his lectures were by far the worst ive ever experienced at uOttawa. He runs up and down the auditorium yelling and tries to dive into complex topics when all we are tested on is the basic concepts in the textbook. So hard to listen to in the lectures but the course wasn't too hard overall.
He is a very enthusiastic professor that clearly enjoys what he teaches, but I often do not understand what he is saying. He explains concepts in such a different way that reading the textbook is much easier imo. I also agree with the comment saying he takes things WAY too personally...
he is very committed to teaching and enthusiastic about economy. as long as you follow his lectures and do homework, it is easy to pass. regarding attendance, I think as a student, you should attend classes. That's should be a student's priority and expectation from prof and univ.
to the person below, you made me laugh. ur priority should be getting off the high horse that you feel the need to give advice on rmp. david gray is so inappropriate n the worst prof that i've had in four years, unfortunately i had to take this class for a grad school requirement but he has no accountability towards his insufferable teaching style
this prof is so unprofessional and rude tbh. he needs to retire badly. man is in his 80s and insufferable to listen to. please save your sanity. hes unwell
He is the BEST! Speaks from the heart and nothing else. A.T.T.
Exam questions are difficult, rather than being application based, they are based on specific things he says during the lecture. If you miss, forget, or don't notice something he says in specific, you are basically unable to answer certain questions. Talks a lot, and makes simple concepts much harder than they should be. Very traditional.
not sure why gets hate solid guy whos accesible outside class and doesn't try to add any extra difficulty .Easy tests if you actully study didn't attend lectures didn't really try on the online applias, just read the notes a few days before and did his practice midterms and did well. His musings are pretty helpful as well.
he posts a lot of helpful information on brightspace.
Talks a little crazy, but overall a pretty decent prof -- also astronomically better than the other options
You will not regret taking David Gray for econ. His lectures are engaging and hilarious, and he's even won some awards for best lecturer in Canada or came second place a while back its on youtube. The midterms are not difficult if you pay attention in class and do the connect textbook without/ with minimal use of chat.
Hilarious prof but extremely tough and unhelpful grader. The answer key from previous exams dont match the new ones despite the questions being the same and you'll get marks cut off for the stupidest things. Hes not kind with grading and the exams are difficult.
Funny guy but very tough grader. His lectures are hard to listen to and follow so get ready to do the work yourself. Exams are difficult and grading is nonsensical. Answers for old exams dont match the new ones despite the questions being the same. Would not take again if I don't have to.
Dont take him. His old exams are nothing like the new ones. His lectures are funny and stuff, but his tests are the opposite. If theres another teacher, take them.
Definitely want to pay attention to lectures as there were often questions on tests that covered topics which weren't emphasized in online assignments. His lectures were at times all over the place so it helps to take notes on everything in class and then reconnect them later. I wish I was there to witness the Bahama Boogie in the summer of 1980.
Attend lectures and pay attention and you'll be fine. This man is hilarious, I don't know if he knows he's hilarious but it doesn't matter.
Prof was okay but hard to know what exactly he was saying. He cares but you will also have to put in the effort and his lectures and kinda boring. Yap yap and more yapping. So much reading but you can get through it. Midterms were actually okay it was short answer but final was hard fs!
The class has weekly quizzes which are hard to keep up with but are generally a good grade booster. He is an amazing lecturer, the content is just very dense. The Exams and Midterms are made in collaboration with other professors in the department so sometimes that makes them really tricky.
way too old
Professor Gray is a character, and he has his funny moments. His lectures are, however, pretty boring. As long as you review the content and do all the textbook material, you should be fine.
Professor Gray is someone you'll really appreciate as a first year. He's thorough and breaks down the information in a way that's easy to grasp and fun to learn. He takes the time to emphasize key points and I appreciate the pacing of his lectures. He cares a lot about his students and he'll take the time to explain anything that you find confusing
From the first lecture to the last I learned absolutely nothing. Hes mumbling the entire time and running around class doing all sorts of obnoxious things. Also wont let you leave early.
Good prof but he speaks slowly. His midterms are slightly harder than those of his peers (a lot of writing), but all the information is on the slides. Very respectful and pretty funny. One of the easiest classes I've ever taken as the homework for ECO1102/1104 is usually worth 20% of your total grade.
olt555i8hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuiig444444444444444444
Quite hard to pay attention to, makes simple concepts harder than needed. I found it hard to follow his lectures but doing the textbook reading beforehand helped. He is quite helpful when you ask him specific questions though. Exams were fair, covered what he said they would. Out of all the eco profs, it seems like he is one of the best.
I think he is overhated. Yes, he can talk slow, however, you can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. A slower pace at most times is easier than if he'd rush through 3 chapters in a week. He cares about students' well-being through pushing back dates of homework, or setting up review sessions, he teaches, not a TA.
He speaks fairly slowly and puts intonation where it doesn't belong, so it's hard to understand the point he's trying to make most of the time. I learned mostly from reading the textbook—which is fairly expensive. He's quite humorous though and you can definitly tell that he's passionate about what he teaches.
David will definitely catch people off guard with his quirky personality. He often runs around the classroom and plays old music videos in class that align with his teachings. Economics is a subject that I'm not gifted at, so I would say his ability to convey the material is good. That being said, he's not for everyone.
The lecture and textbook are important. one comment I can make is that the answers they expect on short answer questions are too specific and not exactly the definition.
Very good professor. Humorous in class, summarizing the materials needed for each chapter after class, and the exam content is not difficult. He will provide additional online courses to help you review, if you need them. The most important thing is that there is not much homework, and it will remind you one day before the homework deadline.
Just go to classes, read the textbook and review ur notes before exams and you should be able to get at least a B. the average of the mt was a D+ I'm pretty sure y'all didn't study at all so why hate on him? It's not his fault lol he's a great professor. He's very passionate about his work and students, and available outside of the classroom
Wouldn't take again.
Dont take for elective. Weekly hw, need to buy txtbook for it. Midterms & exams are hard, the practise ones r NOT similar. He posts extra help videos online & holds review sessions before exams. The class itself is so heavy & hard, class average is low. He cares about his students and tries to help but content is so boring. Use wizeprep for help.
Him and his TAs must be working overtime to put up these good reviews. Oh and the pick me's that sit in the front row of the class. DO NOT BE FOOLED THOUGH and expect to learn nothing from him most people fail or get a bad mark because his practice guides are misleading and the hw questions and lectures are very different as well.
Ahead of the final, I may fail this class. Do not be fooled, a Gray class is not an easy pass. But if you put in the work (which I didn't for much of the semester), you will do good. On top of this Gray is clearly interested and very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Couldn't be farther from a free pass, but Gray is still an amazing professor.
Professor Gray actually is a humorous professor. His lectures are interesting. I also admit that we can learn many things out of textbooks in his lectures. However, his exams are very difficult. I tried my best to learn and I got C+ in the end. I admire his teaching style but I would not take his courses again due to my consideration to my GPA.
Never agaiiiiiin
David Gray is a very enthusiastic prof which keeps lectures interesting and engaging. However, this class should not be taken for an elective. His exams and midterms were very difficult no matter how much you studied.
A great professor. Lectures are amazing. Although problems in exams are difficult, he gives bonus to help students to get good grades. He just wants students to know more knowledge by dealing with problems instead of make them to fail.
He said he is disappointed just due to we did not see records. However, he did not know why we do not have time. We have our other courses and have to spend time on dealing with assignments and exams! He always find our reason but does not think about himself!
Great professor who is very caring and understanding of any situation, but his midterms and finals were very hard. No matter how much you try and study, I found that it was never enough. Some Midterm questions were based on examples the professor discussed verbally in class that aren't in the textbook or slides, so attendance is essential.
if you're an incoming first year student do NOT take him. i'm not sure why the ratings are so high...
Impossible to understand, too old, screams constantly. Should retire immediately.
Goat, very funny and caring.
Guys just take notes
His lecture is very confusing.
I heard mixed reviews about this prof, because people really enjoyed him and others did not, but my friend convinced me to take his classes. On the one hand, I really enjoyed his lectures, and he made them interesting. However, you do have to learn the concepts in advance, as well as the wording in his evaluations, which was a bit confusing.
Do not take this teacher, avoid at all costs. Midterms are genuinely unfair, classes are hard to follow and extremely boring. I thought the way he talked was funny at first, got tired of it after a couple weeks.
I payed half attention, did all my readings and the assignments and found the midterms pretty easy. Great professor, despite very slow speaking pace and something I would describe as tics. Very entertaining lecturer, I found him funny. I'd recommend if you intend on showing up and paying attention or doing the readings on your own alternatively.
david gray is a nice person but does not know how to teach and makes course content more complicated than it needs to be. his lectures are difficult to understand due to the way he speaks, so to do well, you have to learn the course material all from the textbook yourself.
David gray is a good teacher, he definitely cares about his students, he provides lots of help in terms of content, slides, videos, etc which are nice. Lectures are okay I find he tends to ramble on about pointless things. Exams and midterms are HARD. MC questions are very logic/definition based so study those in depth.
Both midterms were harder than the final, which was still mid. Most short answer questions on the final were based on what he said in class. He overcomplicates things in his lecture slides a lot, I found I understand the content easier when I read the textbook. There are too many graphs. Funny guy, I just hate the class. Sings in class too.
