I thought this professor was very good and made excellent comments on my writing. My writing has greatly improved. Others on here are just sore because they got a low grade. It's a hard class but he is a great teahcer.

This Professor really really did help me inprove my writing skills. His class will prepare you for a four year university. He can be tough, but he is very willing to discuss things you can do to improve your writing skills. I had read the other reviews, but decided to make up my own mind and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this class.

Mr. Hainline expects alot from his students but if you do the work you will pass. I enjoyed his class and thought he was a good professor

so if you like a teacher that talks and talks and talks this is your man. instead of teaching something he mostly just tells about what he's going to teach. 10% of the class he teaches but the rest is just rambling about the same thing he just said over and over again for the previous 20 mins.

He is a tough grader, but as long as you really put forth effort and do what you are supposed to do--you will gain so much from this class. He really makes you think deep and wants you to get as much as you can from the class. I got so much from this class.

Hainlines class was fun, you pretty much did good as long as you were awake, and did most of your work. I took it during the summer session and even though it was 4 hours long, it went by pretty quick!

Very nice and helpful teacher but very passive, which is GREAT if you are taking ENGL as a requirement He isnt a teacher that is strict on form (doesnt measure the margin etc). You will get the grade you deserve in this class! Do not expect an A if you do not put forth effort! (which I agree with!)

He is a wonderful teacher. He has been very helpful and I am looking forward to taking his English 1302 class next semester.

I think Mr. Hainline is a great professor. He has really taken the time out to help me to become a better writer, it has been years since I have written anything and I feel a sense of gratitude, having been able to be in his class

I thought Mr. Hainline is a overall good teacher. He is one of those teachers who makes you work for the A. However, he is somewhat disorganized.

I like his teaching style. There are several essays to write, but he is happy to help those who are struggling with the essays. Plus, the in-class discussions usually pertain to one of the essay prompts, so those who are nervous about asking questions can still be helped as long as they attend class.

I do not like English at all but I really enjoyed taking his class. Mr. Hainline did an awesome job at helping me understand the different styles of literature. He is very easy-going and keeps the homework down to very little. I would recommend him to others that are about to sign up for English 2.

He is very helpful. Although sometimes I wished he didn't talk so much, he is very easy to listen to. I took him during the mini session so a 4 hour class is going to get under your skin a little. Overall he is a wonderful teacher. I liked it whenever he read the stories aloud in class, very interesting to say the least. Love him!

Mr.Hainline was extremely helpful and understanding. He was an enjoyable and a very understanding teacher. He was most certainly a pleasure to have.

He is a wonderful instructor. Very helpful when needed, and answers questions with clarity. Although the Mini was grueling at times, he knew how to make the time fly. I especially loved it whenever he read aloud in class. That was my favorit part. He made english fun. I would recommend him to everybody. Love him!!!

He is a good teacher,his class is easy. Im not sure what other people are complaining about as long as you do your essay's you should be ok.

I love Mr. Hainline. He can go off subject at times, but it's no big deal. He grades very fair and is very helpful when approached for guidance.

Mr. Hainline is very specific in what he is looking for in his assignments and makes it pretty clear and his guidelines are easy to follow. After turning in essays for a preliminary grade, he allows you to make corrections based on his suggestions, giving you a chance to greatly improve your overall grade on each essay. Highly recommended.

Mr. Hainline is a pretty awesome teacher. He sometimes gets of subject but overall he was a great teacher. Allows peer critique which is always helpful. He gives you a chance to revise your essays for a higher grade. Overall I highly recomend this class.

Very nice man! He is willing to help you anytime you need it. He likes to read to the class, it is like story time with Grandpa... Overall I enjoyed his class. Just watch out for your grammar mistakes!!!

Easy class.....laid-back instructor. Very helpful. However, if you don't like being called on, don't take his class because he calls on everybody randomly when having a class discussion.

Hes kinda disorganized. He changed the syllabus a lot. But you can basically turn in thing whichever way you want and you can revise all your essays. Hes a little strange but the class is easy.

He's a very approachable professor if you have questions about the material. If you read the literature, do the assignments on time, and put some work into the essays, you will do well in the class. His classes do have a lot of discussion, so be prepared to answer questions from the readings. I really enjoyed the class overall.

Great teach and very nice gentleman too. He is ready to help and work with you. Always, welcome his students with great smile that relax one worries about English. He gives homework but not a lot and very reasonable with grading.

Mr. Hainline is great instructor, who is always there to help and support. I do not really know why some students are not happy! He is very reasonable and one will get an A if did the work.

Mr. David Hainline is good instructor and very helpful. He is always there for your to answer questions and sit with you to teach. If you put the time required for the course and meet with him then you will make an A. Recommended.

The epitome of a knowledgable english professor with a great sense of humor and helpfullness. If you're not sure about something, just ask. He makes it nearly impossible to fail, unless you simply just dont attend class.

(Dec 2014) keep all graded work to save your life. He is not organized and gives papers back late. Real funny dude and makes time to talk to you. Make use of the writing lab because you will need all the help you can get. Do not use your phones in class because he will call you out with no problem! Read all assignments!

By the first day he was already working on memorizing the student's names. Attendance is a must and don't be late to class. If you want a teacher who cares about what he's teaching then Hainline is the way to go. My only regret is taking the 5 week course, will be taking a full semester for 1302.

Hainline is an amazing teacher in my book. He was very understanding and I was afraid I was not going to pass his class. If you talk to him though, and read the marks on the paper and he sees you making an effort you're for sure to pass. I loved him as a teacher, and I plan on taking 1302 with him.

Hainline is such a great professor. I took him for 1301, we never had tests, he usually ended class early be cause he's not one of those profs who choose to keep you and talk about nothing. When he's done, he's done. He gives great feedback for homework. He's extremely easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. Took him again for 1302.

Definitely loves literature and makes the discussions very long. Took him for during the summer and have no complaints. As long as you read what he tells you to read at home, you'll do great!

As long as you do your assigned reading and give a little feedback during class discussions you'll get an A. Super easy & Mr. Hainline definitely loves what he does & it shows in the classroom. Would definitely recommend him to my friends.

GREAT Professor! He does ramble some but not without purpose, PAY ATTENTION. His homework is simple, the essays are not hard. He is funny and has a fun sarcastic humor. Very helpful and interactive with his students. Likes when asked to clarify because it shows you care about the course. Easy class as long as you do the work.

Awesome Professor! We had 1-3 simply questions for homework from short stories we read in class. He made class fun! He is very entertaining and shows the class short films to go along with the short stories read in class. He keeps class short and to the point. Answer your two questions for homework and turn them in on time and you will be fine.

I'm horrible at writing papers. This class has helped me so much. It focuses more on taking notes and reading the textbook and actually learning how to put together a competent paper. He sticks to the syllabus; read & take notes on the chapters, he gives quizzes randomly. Altogether a great teacher, he has helped my confidence in writing immensely.

In my experience I found out that if you payed attention to his lecture or his rants, his class is really simple. The papers that are given to write are easy and straight forward, he makes ample amount of time to help you out. He might ramble a lot and change the due date up a lot, but he is a great grader and gives what you deserve.

If you are serious about improving your writing, this is the course to take. It provides a balanced approach that tackles both your knowledge of the language's mechanics and composition skills. Like in most courses, you will need to stay on top of things in order to do well. Don't be afraid to ask for help from Mr. Hainline or the Writing Center.

Some people expect too much, weren't paying attention or don't do the work. I always found him to be very reasonable, stayed on topic, decent grader & graded timely. If he had to take more time he always explained why & did his best to be accommodating to the students. Immediate gratification in class is unreasonable. Very caring!

He is a very good professor and he will work with his students. He is a tought grader but he gives you feedback.

I dont understand the negative ratings. Prof Haineline's online 1302 was really easy. It was just open book chapter quizzes (5 questions) every week with 1 essay due at the end of the semester. He is way easier than Ensminger!

Mr. Hainline is a professional instructor. Very straightforward and will provide explanations of what is to be expected. The workload is not overbearing; I enjoyed his online course, which is great for the full-time working individual.

My first time taking English especially online so I was nervous and didn't know what to expect but Mr.Hainline is so great. I highly recommend him, I'm actually taking him next semester as well, English 2. Homework is a few activities and readings due every sunday. Just know the final is 6-8 research paper & he scored me a 75 and an A overall :) .

After reading Professor Hainline's reviews I was nervous about his class. I will have to strongly disagree with the reviews. I'm 38 and haven't been to college in 15 years. This class did have a lot of reading but the work was very easy, no excuse to not pass this class. I wrote way more essays in 1301 than his class. He was kind and helpful.

Take mr.Hainline! you won't regret it. I took both english 1 and english 2 with him and he's great, he grades fairly.. you will only have homework and readings due every week and one 6-8 page essay at the end as your final. Very easy topics to pick from and he does not grade to criticize like previous professors i've had. Easy A!
