I have never had an instructor not only make Literature understandable but actually fun. He knows his material and he makes you understand and enjoy it. He is strick but I would recommend him HIGHLY!!!!!!

Coming from someone who is a science-based student, I had no interest in Am. Lit., but Hale was able to engage the whole class (including me)into the material. By the end I had an appreciation for literature that I never thought I would have.He was great!

Super fun class, oral is so easy which is your main grade. a lot of reading and analysis, dont forget to do the homework, many inclass pop-essays! but hes ubercool!

Mr Hale was by far my most enthralling teacher up to date. He can be out there and say things that will make your jaw drop(at least a few times by the end of a semester),but that's how he teaches and gets everyone involved. Just like that" Follow his lectures and you'll do great. You have to give 2 speaches, No biggie. He helps you out. Suggestion go first, You get an +A. !!

He is a very smart guy! He is a well-rounded person. He puts the "U" in fun! His first impression is not good, but when you get to know him, he is great. Easy, fun teacher! His assignments aren't hard and make sure that if you take his class, you are willing to participate in discussions. Its a really easy class but you have to take part in discussions!!! I can't stress that enough!! If you are shy and don't like talking in front of others, I wouldn't take him. He is funny and makes time go by fast!

Incredible teacher. Really gets you involved. "That's hot!" All the work is cake, although the mid-term and final are a little more writing than I care for.

all the discussions in class were fun but i hated going into the writing assignments not knowing ahead of time what to look for especially on the midterm and final

teacher was very good, really sparked my interest in the subject. he is a morbid man though-- its a fun class but you have to do your homework and use sticky notes in your book to help you out in class

I just finishesd Hale's literasture class and read his evaluations and am amazed at how ignorant a student could be about tollance. Mr. Hale is like the God of all teachers. A student must have failed to produce at all. Mr. Hale demands that a student be a real student, and anyone who disagrees must not be any kind of student.

Very Funny. Class can be boring lectures 98% of the class. If you come to class, partcipate in discussions and be prepared to write essays on the spot (from the reading) you will be okay.

I too read the student who took "Engrish," played with themselves, and watched Oprah. What a complete fool. He/she must have dropped the class or been home schooled because they are both a **** and not on the college level. I have actually learned more about writing in his American Literature class than I did in two semesters in Comp. I and II. He teaches you how to write an effective introduction and how to effectively support your analysis. He also helps you work effecitvely with quotations. His course is so much more than just literature. He teaches life skills.

This Prof. is great! Makes the material understandable and you actually learn how to uncover the hidden meaning in these stories. He also teaches you how to develop a solid thesis, and writing skills to back it up. Writing has always been stressful for me, but, he teaches it in a no pressure way. Class Participation is Mandatory,DON'T be LATE!!!!!!

Hale is by far one of the best professors i have ever had. For being a summer night class he kept the class interesting and funny. You have to read the stories he assigns because he will have a discussion time which is where you will get most of your grades but he talks with you and makes it that much easier to do well. ABSOLUTELY TAKE HIM! Yes, you have to go to class everyday..boohoo, its freakin college! I had class at 8AM Mon-Thurs and he made me WANT to go to class. You write a lot but it's easy. Only big grade is research paper but he breaks it up into multiple assignments. Easy, fun and energitic..what more could you ask for??

Of course you need to come to class-he does not just teach out of the text book. He gives the best information in class via brief lectures. He is the most organized teacher ever. I am in the same class as the last student, and the class is only one hour long. That student often comes late to class, and when she is on time, she leave a few minutes after class starts to "go to the bathroom." She is playing games and needs to grow up asap. Life will be less tolerant by far than Hale. He is doing her a big favor.

"Thats Hot". Youll hear that almost every class, he loves using it. If you can incorporate quotes into essays and just participate like once a class, youll get an A. I dont consider myself much of a talker but i got an A. He is a very approachable guy even if it doesnt seem like it at first, just make sure your never late.

One of the best professors ever. He's a lot of fun and keeps the class alive. All assignments are in class, most group oral projects. A lot of the grade is based on participation, so you have to join in the class discussion. Midterm is a paper, and the final(optional) is a workshop for you to improve your midterm or help others for extra credit.

DO NOT MISS CLASS! He is an amazing teacher, but VERY strict with attendance. I took him for summer and missed 2 classes (7 1/5 hrs.) We were only allowed to miss 6 hours so he dropped me from the course with only 4 class meetings left! The class itself is great, professor is great--attendance you don't want to play with in his class.

Took him this summer for Summer A. Super easy and fun. He remembers everybodys name and includes everyone in the discussions, but doesnt put you on the spot. You can't BS him, but he is a very generous grader. I did only half of an essay and he gave me an 85. If you do good on the midterm you dont have to take the final. ATTENDENCE IS MUST

Just had Hale for American Literature after 1865 Summer B session. What else is there to say? Hale is one of the best teachers out there. He keeps the class vibrant, alive, and makes each and every class enjoyable. My highest recommendation. Hale is that dude!

Hale is an awesome teacher. I withdrew from his class because I had already missed two classes but I will be taking him next semester. He actually cares and does everything he can to make you understand. Very helpful and extremely fun.

Attendance is a must in this class. If you cannot go to every class then you will be dropped. He is definitely one of the best professors. If you can get into his class then do so ASAP. He is great!!! I was terrified to take this class so I waited till my second to last semester. But I wish I had him for every class he teaches. First class majority of the kids were late at 8:00am but by the second class everyone was at least 10 min early. That is a great professor very organized and the note cards are long but they help take him.

He is amazing, funny all you can ask for in a professor. Come to class, listen and participate, do the notecards and you will pass. If some does not like professor Hale not that he cares you are the problem in my opinion.

Wow, what a great professor. Even though he is funny, he takes his class VERY serious. Do your essays EXACTLY how he tells you too, and do NOT come late to class or he will take points away. He is very nice and helpful do not get discouraged and ask questions, he will help you!!

No doubt your going become a better writer. Yet be ready to work hard to get anything above C. Only complaint he not understanding when it comes to students emergencies, I had 2 huge family issues that were legit and I ended up having to withdrawn.

Hale is a great teacher. He really comes along side you with projects to help you get the best possible grade and his quizzes are short essays written in class- open book. If you show up to class and do the required reading you'll pass the course with flying colors.

He is without a doubt the best professor I've had so far. In the beginning, it may be a little hard understanding his mandatory "steps" before writing the actual paper, but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. He has a great sense of humor and is very helpful if you need assistance.

David Hale has a joking and friendly personality. You must show up to class and never be late or your grade will definitely be low. Make sure you do all assignments exactly what he says for you to do. His class was very relaxed and not hard core learning. Pretty simple and he's very clear on his assignments. Such a fun an awesome teacher, I have never been a fan of English before this class. He makes his students want to show up to class and engage in the conversations about the stories. Seriously be prepared for a whole class of laughter. If you don't pass his, you wont pass any English class. If your lazy and have poor attendance you will fail.

I love this professor! He gets to the point and doesn't take bs and doesn't give it back. It is a very entertaining class.

Professor Hale was extremely clear in his expectations in addition to the class work required. He was also very helpful in facilitating probing discussions for topic selection. Show up ON TIME for class and definitely do the reading ... he will ask random questions about it such as "Was the sky blue today?". A very funny professor.

I never once felt blue in this class! Hale is an amazing teacher and he will help any mediocre writer get noticeably better. One of the best teachers I've ever had.

I actually look forward to his class. We can get the work done, while having a little fun. He is very thorough and helps the students to understand the concept. It is hard to ever feel blue in his class, because he is always making the class laugh

Really interesting class! Enjoyed everything we learned. Professor Hale has great things to talk about and is never not wearing a Nike outfit.

Extremely easy, tells you exactly what to write and how to write. If you don't pay attention, good luck passing.

Wrote like 3 papers and 1 research paper. Seems a lot but it's really not, he gives a lot of time in class to work with too.
