Excellent teacher. Lectures are very interesting. Go to class and you'll do fine on the tests. Don't even have to do any reading and you'll get an A.
Chill as****. also knows the subject cold.
This is a horribly boring class, its hard to pay attention, test are hard as hell, im a A student and got a 59%. Never have I done so bad on a test! Avoid this class at all possible costs.
Tests are very hard and he expects you to remember 800000 definitions for each test. Be able to memorize and write really good detailed paragraphs from a question.
Awesome class, great teacher because he allows you to form your own opinion. Some debates are really heated/enjoying, he doesn't stifle your opinion, even if it isn't PC.
I loved his class. Not nearly as hard as people are trying to make it seem. Go to class and take notes and you'll do great. I haven't read in my books once this semester. His tests are fair. He just wants to know what you've learned. Very chill guy! HOT
Blah! If you enjoy trying to take notes at an auctioneer's speed then you'll love this guy. Tests are psychotic. Why would he make the grading so screwed up if he complains about grading the tests. He may be "cool", but the class is overall poin
This guy is great and very interesting. He definitely knows what he is talking about. The tests are challenging.
He's a cool guy & lectures can be interesting. His tests are different, but if you go to class & take notes, you'll do fine. Don't even have to read the books.
Great class. I didn't read the books or study for the tests and am getting a B+. Your an idiot if you fail this class.
Awesome guy, obsessed with Chad. Very chill class. Lets you debate your grade if you're unhappy.
Nice guy But mean tests. watch your step!
He is a good professor who is laid back and interested in teaching. I learned a lot of new info about politics. His tests are easy if you take good notes and read.
Class has a really relaxed atmosphere. You'll never have to read and tests will be a breeze if you just come to lecture and pay attention. Presents information in an unbiased way and always answers questions thoroughly. One of the cooler profs on campus.
He's awesome! You have to go to class. Take notes and you should not have any problems. I didn't pick up the books once after the intro. He presents the info in a very unbiased manner (which is great for a polysci class-- you can have your own opinion) and he's very understanding of emergencies.
He's an amazing professor and is very down to earth. He's one of those professors that isn't afraid to say anything in class, and is very understanding. The test are somewhat difficult but as long as you go to class, a B on the test is not difficult.
Great Professor, very unbaised in a topic where its really easy to pick a side or impress their beliefs upon the students. There is a lot of notes but if you show up to class everyday and PAY ATTENTION youll get a good grade. Anyone who says theyve done bad either didnt go to class much or didnt pay attention.
Great teacher who takes the time to explain every political concept that is discussed in class. Makes the class very intersting and you actually want to show up for the lectures. The test are moderately difficult but if you show up everyday, takes notes, and study for the exam a B should not be a problem.
Dr. Hauser is a nice guy. There were no exams, but extensive research design. He does not give you due dates and you may redo all of your assignments but DO NOT WAIT TILL THE LAS MINUTE TO DO EVERYTHING!
For anyone interested in international studies or political science, this is a great introductory course. The professor is very knowledgeable on the topic and can effectively communicate and lecture. The class atmosphere is fun and relaxed but his tests are tricky (multiple choice tests with multiple correct answers for each question).
Dr. Hauser is an amazing professor! I loved every minute of the class. He is tremendously knowledgable and very helpful. I would highly recommend this class if your are interested in international relations. The tests are somewhat difficult and there are a lot of notes but its worth it. Don't miss out on this wonderful class!
Be carefull, this is not an easy class. you MUST have a strong note taking skill in order to get a good grade. LISTEN to him very carefully, and take notes. Besides, his tests are so tricky. If you want a good grade, you have to put your efforts quite a lot.
Very interesting class. Test are a little tricky though. Have to take VERY good notes in order to do good. Listen to what he says and write it down and you should be fine. But again, VERY interesting class.
very smart, cool, and helpful. you will learn a lot in his class.
I got As and Bs in my previous Poli Sci classes (101 and 102) then I had this one and it was terrible. It is really hard to take notes from this guy, he repeats himself too much. He talks way too fast. And the tests are really hard. Unless you are really amazingly good in this subject, I would advise you to NOT TAKE IT WITH THIS PROFESSOR!
Not very helpful, often times had an arrogant attitude...repeats himself OFTEN
Dr. Hauser is a really funny and a great lecturer... I'm pretty sure he curses more in one lecture than I do in a week. However, you need to attend every class and take really good notes. The tests are difficult because a lot of the questions are worded poorly, and this makes it seem like there could be more than one answer.
difficult
Overall excellent professor. Has considerable command of the subject matter, and is more than willing to engage the class in debate. Facilitates discussion- doesn't preach from a certain political perspective. Gave a lengthy take-home exam with a flexible due date. Any Poli Sci or IR major should take this class.
He is a nice guy, but very boring. He offered us his slides before every class so i decided to study directly from those and still ended up with a 50 on the test, his tests are ridiculous and you have to go and argue for your grade. If you have the chance not to have him i would recommend taking that and running!!!!
Tests are impossible.
Hauser is by far the best professor in the Political Science Department. His classes are not easy, but there is nothing unfair about his tests or grading. All the material comes directly from the lectures, so go to class, take good notes, and pay attention.
this old-fashioned hippie will give you the weirdest exams on earth. very opinionated, and very stubborn too. i wouldn't take his class again. way too sarcastic.
If you like arbitrary grading, a haphazard adherence to the syllabus, and extreme pretentiousness and arrogance take this man. If not, stay away. This class was an absolute drag and I even enjoy the subject. Avoid this professor at all costs.
Once you get into the upper level Poli Sci classes, he is an incredibly good professor, who is extremely well-versed in the subject matter. I don't know about 103, but I would definitely recommend him for more advanced classes.
Had him this semester for Intro to National Security. Every lecture was entertaining and gave plenty of knowledge about subject matter. The guy knows what he is talking about: study and you will do fine on the tests, but this course is by NO means a pushover. Cares more that you know the material and will reward you for doing so.
I completely agree with the last rating. He's very helpful if you ask for help, though comes across as slightly arrogant sometimes. However, I've had his classes before and really like his frank lecturing style, so if you're willing to work, I highly recommend him. You can really learn a lot from this guy!
HARD HARD HARD
He's very funny. His lecture are very informing, but he knows how to keep a student's attention (with random f-bombs and examples involing beer). However, there is a lot of recommended reading. And, his tests are really difficult. I do recommend him as a teacher, but be ready to work for a good grade.
Amazing professor. Students are complaing but only because they are lazy! He is one of the smartest professors at WVU. It should be mandatory if you are a PS/IR major to take one of his courses. His tests are hard, but they make you think. Isnt that the purpose of any course though?? It is hard, but worth it. You learn A TON!
Good professor that is always willing to answer questions. Slightly arrogant, but can be very funny. Lectures are boring if you are not interested in the subject. The tests aren't as difficult as everyone makes them out to be. Everything on the test was addressed in his lectures.
Smart guy and knows what he is talking about but arrogant as anything. No help, can't read his writing on exams and when you go for help he doesn't. Doesn't care about anything but himself. If you don't want a gpa failer, don't take a class with this guy. You better know what you are talking about in here. Exams are take home and almost impossible
Excellent professor,I learned a lot. Pokes fun at politics to get points across and IS willing to help if you ask for it. Gives extra credit for reading a book each month. Test are only hard if you're lazy. Definitely recommend him for 103
Great Professor. Really knows the material and is very helpful outside of class. However, you only get out of the class as much as you're willing to put in.
This guy's class is no stroll in the park. You will only do well if you dedicate yourself and PAY ATTENTION! It can be done though, with commitment a can do attitude. Tests are take-home but are murderous. Will leave you feeling more accomplished than classes where you are handed the "A" though.
He has a genuine love for politics but teaches it in a way that requires ALOT of attention or notetaking in class. Also he teaches straight out of a magazine called the Economist which is sometimes wordy and hard to read. He is an interesting guy however i dont think i will be taking any of his classes again.
I thought this class was well taught and current. I think it gave great perspective on current global issues and I learned a lot about the state of the world. I also liked that we used the economist which is affordable and not as boring as a text book if you actually read.
Hard class, but good professor. If you want help he'll give you help but if you want an easy A without doing any work, then you should find another class. Awesome guy and interesting. Knows what he's talking about. I will be taking his classes again.
One of the worse professors at WVU. He's is not a nice guy and a tough grader. If you take his class and decide to go to office hours, don't. He's no help during them and talks down to you. He thinks that most of his students are stupid and the ones he doesn't are his favorites and you can obviously tell who they are. Seriously HORRIBLE professor.
Great professor and knows his stuff! Willing to help anyone who wants help and is willing to try. He won't give you an easy A, you have to do all readings at all levels. If you want to actually learn something, his classes are the ones you need to take. Very helpful if you're willing to put in the work. If not find a new teacher.
Arbitrary grading, a haphazard adherence to the syllabus, EXTRME ARROGANCE, picks favorites, changes test format for every test, extremely unhelpful. DO NOT RECOMMEND, unless you want to brownnose your way to an A and pander to his enormous ego....seriously he's a jerk
This class is very difficult because you are learning new concepts & statistics, but Dr. Hauser gives you ample opportunities to redo assignments for a better grade. You can get an A if you keep on top of your assignments and utilize his office hours.
Gives little/no guidance on half of assignments. Arbitrary grading, very subjective grading. Feedback is useless, too vague.
Arrogant man who teaches you nothing. Learned more from watching news for a week than i did in his class the whole semester!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
VERY DIFFICULT!! avg on the 2nd and 3rd exams were a 50 and 61, yet he sees no need scale them. Learned a lot though.
Hauser is a great professor, but you have to put in effort to earn your grade in his class. Tests are not difficult, but if you do not study you will suffer badly. Most of the people who do bad in this class are the ones who take pictures of the notes. Really cool guy, will sit and talk with you during office hours about anything.
I have taken many classes with Hauser and he is my favorite professor on campus. While his tests may be hard, many of them are take home exams and he will let you redo them. He is very helpful in his office hours and will talk to you as long as you are willing to stay. Go to class and pay attention and you will do well. He is awesome.
The class was very interesting. The tests were pretty hard. Take great notes and do the study guides, you should be okay.
Very arrogant person. Talks down to everyone and will make you feel stupid, no matter the question you ask. Tests are a million times harder than they need to be. Better be a good note taker bc he flies through his slides. I wouldn't say this is an easy A.
Great professor who really knows what he's talking about. We only had two tests - the midterm and the final. There were reading quizzes every week but the material was very easy to follow. The only issue I had with him was his viewpoint on various issues, as it really came through in his teaching and he quickly disregarded dissenting opinions.
Great professor, practice exam give before test for review.
Very hard tests, but a great teacher.
talks alot! and fast
Easily my favorite professor. Loves to talk politics and is very interesting to talk to. Will be taking another of his classes for sure.
Tests are awful, but I feel like I really learned something. He's a bit of a jerk, but if you take the time to get to know him, he's not that bad. Honors add-on is literally meeting for a meal once a week and talking about whatever you feel like.
He knows what hes talking about but his tests are very hard and some of his lectures are very difficult to understand.
Although the content was interesting, the tests were extremely difficult. Much harder than it should've been for a 100 level class. Lectures are boring, but you earn points for attendance, so you basically have to go to every class. Also, not the friendliest guy around.
Hauser is great. I took him for POLS 493A (a course on intelligence failures) and he constantly challenged us to read and understand the complexities of government and national security. There were 2 take home tests (essays) that were brutal, but that was the only work we had to do all semester (other than reading and submitting questions weekly.)
I absolutely loved this class. It's not an easy A, but if you are interested in global political issues it should be easy for you to find the material engaging and fun to learn. Hauser bases his tests around his Power Points and they are available to download before and after class. If you thoroughly study the PPTs you will likely get a good grade
Well, I'm basically giving up on the class. It's only been the first 4 weeks, reading an entire book, as well as "short scholarly readings" which are close to 100 pages each. All the readings in total being well over 600 pages. It was a mistake to take this class. But I need it for my degree. I basically have no time for other homework.
I had Hauser for a class my sophomore year, and have gotten to know him more over the years as my advisor. He's a professor you'll love or hate. He's perceived as harsh because he expects nothing less than their best from his students. Funny guy though. For extra credit will have book discussions at restaurants downtown, and pays for everyone's foo
He has tons of reading to do, that 70% of the class do not do..... He is very very very fast speaker and his power points and lectures are on the weekly reading and his own thoughts. Every 2 weeks you have a quiz on it. He expects the best of you. Hard hard but interesting class. Wouldn't say don't take this class but be prepared to work
Dr. Hauser is one of my favorite professors by far. He is intelligent, smart, and has just enough sarcasm to make the lectures interesting. His quizzes are pretty cut and dry, based exactly off the slides. If you need any help, he's always in his office. Would 10/10 recommend taking him at least once, especially for any political science majors.
David Hauser is a reasonable, genuine guy and professor. Other than heavy reading, this class was good. Extra Credit is worth A TON but is like the everything else in the class (You'll have to work for it, usually by reading). He will go above and beyond to help students, and will genuinely wants to get to know his students. Also a very funny guy.
Does a very good job explaining concepts lecturing to 200 students. Tough grader and lots of reading and memorization for difficult quizzes (class is setup with 7 quizzes, every two weeks, no exams). He is reasonable and encourages kids to go to his office hours.
So I'm an accounting major, and I thought this would be a fun elective. Boy was I wrong.. This was the HARDEST class I've ever taken. The tests are incredibly hard. The average on the first quiz was a 46%. I dropped this class because I had all A's and well.. an F in this class. Unless you are a political science major, beware.
Took as an elective but he makes his exams unreasonably challenging for a 100 level course. Provides no help when asked questions in his office hours and does not post any study materials or notes online. He even told me that we weren't going to be tested on a concept that was on the quiz the next day. Avoid at all costs!
2 take home essay exams, with 4-5 broad questions based on the readings through the semester. Class participation is required (for a good grade), which means giving relevant feedback and/or asking questions. Also important to note that we are more than halfway through the semester and I have no idea what my grade is. Interesting, but watch yourself
Dr. Hauser has a pretty bad rep that isn't entirely deserved. He's incredibly intelligent and has interesting lectures. 7 quizzes across the semester plus extra credit assignments. The honors section meets once a week for a meal and discusses some additional reading. He's a tough professor but I plan on taking more of his courses.
Would not recommend. Tons of readings to do before each class, majority long. No sort of lecture/notes. Whole grade is based on 2 essays, 4 questions, each worth 25% of your grade and class discussion. He grades way harder than any professor I have ever had. Didn't get any sort of midterm grade back until a week after the final class drop period.
Very bad professor. The lectures have no organization and his grading is insane. Only two take home tests the whole semester. We got our midterm back AFTER the deadline to drop the class. Soo your pretty much have no grades in the class until after the drop date. Very bad professor and class, stay away!!
Do not take! Terrible class and professor. Doesn't teach you anything all semester, just make you read and come to class to talk about it. Grades harder than you could imagine. Feedback is very vague and doesn't help at all.
Anyone who gave Dr. Hauser a bad rating probably doesn't read the assigned books, doesn't show up to his class, doesn't go to his review sessions, and doesn't go to his office to go over their tests. Every kid who complains to me about failing his class spends more time whining about it than they spend studying and showing up to class.
Took Hauser for 103 as a freshman. Feedback from students before include, "Hardest class ever taken", "100-level taught like a 400-level", and I must admit, it's the most difficult of my classes. However, as long as you take notes during lecture and do reading, his tests are straightforward, and you can argue to earn points back. Interesting class.
Hauser isn't a bad guy. I would always put his class as a second choice. You don't have to read his books, he explains them in the slides. Study the slides for the tests. Perfect attendance is worth a full quiz grade. Tests are fill in the blank (no word bank) and short answer. He's a cool guy but I won't be taking any more of his classes.
Teaches next to nothing, you just show up and discuss viewpoints of different authors. Then, has the audacity to grade the broad, essay midterm, which is 40% of the grade a week and a half after the drop date, and fails at least half the class, with 20s and 30s. You can rewrite, but comments on the papers are unhelpful and pretty insulting. Unreal.
He had 3 weeks to grade the midterms and left almost the entire class with low Fs after the drop date. Didnt even start grading them until the weekend before. He would probably be okay for POLS103 but he grades this 300 level class like we are writing PHD dissertations. Dont put yourself through the stress.
Very thoughtful and interesting professor. Interesting topics and easy course material. No tests; only grades are 7 quizzes and attendance. No textbook either; just used novels.
Most professors will feed you the information they want you to know, but he teaches you to think critically. This class was described as a colloquium on the first day. He made it clear there would be no slides and that we would be discussing the readings. He is very accessible outside of class to help you, and if you put in the work, you will pass.
Dr. Hauser can have a difficult personality, but overall he is a great professor who is extremely knowledgable and a great resource to have on campus. He gives a quiz every two weeks that is completely based off of his lectures, and are extremely difficult, but he curves your final grade. GO TO HIS OFFICE to argue, he usually gives you a few points
Super smart guy. Has a strong personality that comes off as pretentious. Makes you feel dumb when you ask a question, he knows he's intelligent. He doesn't have Power Points and rarely writes on the board, just lectures for an hour and a half. Not a class for someone who needs some guiding, pretty much on your own. Hard class, I'd avoid if you can.
Cool guy. Makes himself very available to give feedback/discuss things for class. By far the hardest grader I've had at WVU. He'll absolutely tear through whatever you write, so be prepared for a heavy revision process (and harsh comments). No hard deadlines, so if you're a procrastinator it's near impossible to pass. 300 took years off my life.
Show up to class and don't get behind on work. This is the happiest I've ever been to get a B in a class at WVU.
Really good professor. Just make sure to take really good notes and pay close attention to statistics that are shared. If you just get to know him, he is great. Loved this class.
Professor Hauser is a great man who thinks logically. He remains unbiased in his lectures when referring to political issues. After researching, Professor Hauser leans towards Liberal ideas yet still is an advisor for republican clubs on campus. He mainly keeps his beliefs separate from his work.
David Hauser is easily one of the best professors here at WVU. Though he makes 300 tough, I learned a lot from him and the class. He is a very tough grader but he lets you revise your work as many times as you want until you get the grade you want. For example, I turned my final paper in 6 times. BUT, I highly recommend because he's challenging.
Honestly the hardest class I have taken. Way too hard for a 100 level class. Hauser was also somewhat rude during office hours, and his lectures were so boring.
He will make you work for an A. Go to class, go to the extra help, and go to office hours. He's a great professor once you get to know him. He is willing to work with students if they need him. He does take attendance and does not give out the day's lecture if you do not go to class. The lectures are informative. Tend's to swear in class.
Sassy but I like it. Only has quizzes which are solely based on the lectures/no homework. There are books to read but if you pay attention in class you dont really need to read but its helpful. If you go to the resuscitation, you will almost definitely get a good grade.
Everyone should have to take a class from Dr. Hauser at some point. He is one of the most intelligent and articulate professors I have ever had. His lectures are relevant, interesting, and informative. I would recommend Dr. Hauser without reservation to anyone looking to take a political science class
Hauser is one of the most knowledgeable professors on campus. He literally gives you EVERY opportunity possible for help, including recitations that go over the full test. I had a family emergency and missed a test, and he was one of two professors who above and beyond help. If you don't want to work, don't waste your or his time.
Dr. Hauser is amazing. I found the class to be very interesting and I learned a lot. One downside is that he speeds through his lecture slides, so be selective with what you choose to write down because you wont be able to get it all. Also, go to the recitation sessions!!!! Everyone who went to the sessions easily got an A or B on his quizzes.
One of the best professors at WVU. Dr. Hauser is intelligent, thoughtful, and takes an interest in his students. Lots of reading, but the subject matter is usually interesting. Tests really make you think, don't expect to just regurgitate facts. Highly recommend the class if you have any interest in national security/intelligence.
Prof. Hauser is a great professor. He's extremely intelligent and informative. He does a great job making difficult subjects simple to understand. As we made the difficult transition to online classes due to COVID-19, he always made himself available to meet if needed and was very timely on his e-mail responses whenever I had questions.
There are a lot of horror stories about Professor Hauser, however, I didn't find him to be a bad professor at all. I'm not a pols major or minor, & I got an A. You have to work for your grade, but if you do the readings & take notes in class you'll be fine. He does lecture very fast, but he seems happy to answer questions & give notes if you ask.
David Hauser is one of my least favorite professors. I attended office hours because I wanted to understand what I did wrong on an assignment since he does not give specific feedback and it was a half hour of belittling my intelligence. I then got another 65% and his comment was "you've done better." Unprofessional comments that touch on rude.
Hope you like writing 3000+ word papers on the weekends. This is the second time we've had a 7 essay questions, yes 7 essays, in an exam (3 paragraph minimum) that is assigned on a Friday and due on Sunday night. Don't make plans when taking this class because your weekends are about to be violated.
Dr. Hauser's classes are hard. Our exams were at home over the weekends, but they would range anywhere between 7-13 essay questions. I took 260 and 261 by him at the same time and it was rough. BUT, he is really engaging in class and is willing to help students when you ask. Is is a tough grader: YES. Did I actually learn from him: YES.
Pretty decent class. Show up to class dont miss and try to participate in discussions. 3 take home exams with participation grade. The exams are just essay questions that can be very long and strenuous but theres only three the semester so it isnt too bad just dont do them last second. Just show up take notes and try to talk and youll be fine
Professor Hauser was a really great professor. However, you do need to make sure you are doing your readings and when he asks about the text make sure you can discuss what you have read. He seems super scary but is actually rather nice. Also you should go see what you got wrong on his tests because he'll give good feedback and possibly points pack.
Knowledgeable but speaks quickly and does not post his slides on ecampus. Weekly readings are excessive, and there were two long non fiction books. He responds to emails but his teaching methods are not the best. There is no feedback on exams. His exams are take home (based on lectures) which you will need as each essay has multiple questions.
Horrible professor avoid at all costs
Hauser is easily the hardest professor I have ever taken. He utilizes a pass/fail grading system but is practically impossible to pass the first time around. His feedback is often harsh and not always helpful. Does let you resubmit assignments but it makes you fall behind. Practically a capstone course without the credit.
Lead paint victim. Do not disagree with him because he is the Master of Logic And Reason and is Always Correct. Laughed at SEI responses that his feedback isn't helpful (some of the most unprofessional/unhelpful comments you'll ever receive). Couldn't tell you one thing I've learned from him. Ironically, has frequent typos in his powerpoints.
Most stressful class I have ever taken. Nearly impossible to get an A. Basically says "if you come to class, put in hard work and effort, do everything I ask of you, and satisfy every assignment, you get a B." This is a 300-level course but graded like a PHD dissertation. With any other prof, it would be considered an A. Very annoying.
This class was a large time commitment outside of class. Only graded off take-home assignments, unlimited redos with feedback for each. I was in the honors section, Hauser is a super nice guy but isn't letting anyone off easy. I would recommend accompanying this class with fewer homework-heavy classes to keep on top of all homework and final paper.
Tough course but Hauser teaches well. Doesn't do attendance in class, but its part of your grade so go. Gives comments on stuff, which can be confusing to understand, but he's always willing to discuss in office hours. The ABSOLUTE BIGGEST thing in this class is don't get behind in last 4-5 weeks. 99.9% of my stress was due to bad time management.
Dr. Hauser is a funny professor but he is tough from what i have heard about from others. If you show up to class, pay attention to the lectures and do the readings, you should be fine. The first take home exam requires critical thinking based off of the readings and lectures but he is willing to talk to you during office hours and helps .
Did not like Hauser. Class graded off of 4 take home tests with difficult subject matter and graded very harshly with zero feedback. I got an A in the class, but the man was downright mean to the students in the class. Laughing at students answers when they were wrong and overall being demeaning. Learned alot, but would not recommend.
Take anyone else for 300 if you can, his lectures for other classes are interesting but his pass/fail system for this class is a nightmare. He lets you redo assignments but his notes can be super unhelpful and mean.
Hauser can come off as a tough professor from what I hear but when it come to POLS 261. He's often hilarious which is the fun part of the class and the class got to play diplomacy and catan which was actually my first time playing the two in the spring but his take home exams are tough and lets you resubmit to regain the points you get. Kudos.
Although he is very accommodating and will work with you, it is extremely easy to fall behind. He does not give clear feedback and it is difficult knowing exactly what he expects from your papers. Another thing to consider is how he does not submit grades often. This makes it difficult to know your grade standing.
His class was extremely enjoyable. However, it was a lot of work. If you are looking for an elective or gef I suggest you try someone else because the workload is heavy. You will do more writing than in an english class I enjoyed his class, just not the take home tests
Dr. Hauser does a simulation game in class somewhat similar to the Civilization games which is pretty fun and unique. He gives 5 take home quizzes, with about 10 short answer/essay questions, but as long as you have the notes they are pretty easy. Unfortunately, he typically forgets to post about half his slideshows. Take pictures of the slides.
Hauser's POL300 is tough, but using Unstuck ai alongside the free textbook helped me manage the workload. His feedback can be blunt, but office hours are worth it.
He's honestly a great professor and is very understandable but the class is VERY lecture heavy and although the quizzes were open notes he did not make it easy. If your class participates in state craft YOU MUST ENGAGE WITH IT.
Just go to class attendance isn't necessary but you are graded in participation.
Lectures are very dense and he moves through them very quickly. Only graded on a few things and he does not put grades into ecampus regularly. He does do take home exams which are just essays but he does grade them very hard. YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE IN CLASS FOR PARTICIPATION. In all, it's fine but I wouldn't take him again.
While I liked Dr Hauser his class was more difficult than it should have been. Even being an elective class, it was one of the most difficult. Hauser was a good instructor who was interesting, but the workload was too much. Hundreds of pages of readings and dozens of pages of essays. I enjoyed the material, but not the assignments. His class if fun
Great professor, and great guy. He's very busy, so emails will sometimes be unread, but it's easy to just send another after a day or so. Would absolutely take another one of his classes.
TAKE SOMEONE ELSE SERIOUSLY!! Unless you like failing. Disaster of a class, never responds to emails, take home tests (grades them like they're a nominee for the new york times), "lectures" aren't even lectures, just bunch of over abundant rambling. Had him twice.. trust me I know what Im talking about.
