GREAT professor. Does his best to keep lectures interesting, attendance is important, TAKE NOTES (Most test questions directly from lectures), 3 short papers and 1 long paper (All fairly graded and not too difficult), professor is very knowledgable. History = my least favorite subject but he made it bearable. STUDY LECTURES and the text is helpful!
One of the nicest professors you will meet at UCF. Take him; you won't regret it. Makes things interesting and easy to understand. Class discussions are fascinating, incorporates diverse reading sources. Textbooks are necessary.
Loved this guy! He was very helpful. His test are not too hard as long as you study an hour or two the day before. Essays are not that hard. Go to class because he takes attendance but it is worth it. He knows what he is talking about and it is pretty easy to understand. Would highly recommend!
Awesome teacher. Tests are easy M/C, he's very clear and organized. He knows his stuff! If you take good notes you don't have to study much. 4 essays to do, but they aren't hard. I just hated that he has T/As grade them because you get a different one every time and you never know what they're are looking for.
He's an interesting and sometimes funny teacher. He wants to help as much as possible. There are four papers (3 short, one long) but he has the TAs grade them, and therefore you get vastly different comments each time. His tests are easy and you don't need to know dates. Definitely read the books he assigns, but not the online text. Great teacher!
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Class is boring and he does nothing to make it interesting other than tell lame jokes. He is very unknowledgeable. At least 3 times a class (without exaggeration) he doesn't know the answers to questions in his field. It is an easy class, but if you want to learn something interesting or be intellectually stimulated skip it.
Best professor ever. Doesn't go too fast through lectures and if you take good notes and show up to class, studying for tests is hardly necessary. Something about the way he teaches makes the material easy to remember. He's funny, in an awkward kind of way. I've never enjoyed a history class before, until this one.
Lectures are interesting, tests are simple, gives a review for all the tests and gives extra credit. Doesn't require a whole lot of studying. Gordon Rule class, so there were 3 short papers and 1 long one, which were simple and graded easy. Three books required for class, all really cheap novels. Overall great professor & interesting class.
Good easy professor. Only tests and 4 papers. Drops lowest test grade. Final not really cumlative. Gives review for tests. Powerpoint notes online. Papers are short and simple. Attendence mandatory but get 3 absenses. Plenty of extra credit. Take if you want to learn and get an easy good grade.
He's a great/easy professor to deal with. He always offers opportunities to earn a couple extra credit points. HIs notes are straight forward and if you pay attention and take good notes, you'll do well on the M/C tests. 4 essays that aren't too bad, but grading makes it hard to get a perfect score on them. Requires a fair amount of reading.
Very clear in lectures. Books are additional resources for tests, but unless you're using the book for one of the paper options, no need to buy. Very flexible in terms of what you want to do, but must attend all lectures as it's basically a continuing story.
Tests arent hard, but his TA's grade the papers you have to write so INTESTELY. He is very helpful if you come to him in office hours.
If you go to class and take good notes you will learn A LOT in this class. He's really good at covering all of the material while not skimming. Also, he has kind of a funny/awkward personality which is entertaining. A huge plus is that he doesn't assign a textbook but instead 3 nonfiction books that are not particularly expensive. Great class!
Hes awesome at covering everything you need to know. He provides a study guide for every test and drops the lowest test score. You really will learn a lot in the course. Makes class interesting too, not a boring professor.
Dr. Head is a little nerdy and awkward but a really good history teacher! His lectures follow along with the book and he makes everything understandable. The book is confusing though because it skips around to different centuries in each chapter. Other than that, 4 essays, drops lowest test score, and homework via mind tap. Recommend!
This man is great. I thought he did an excellent job with the class.
Very easy class as long as you put a little effort into it and attend lectures.
Extremely disappointed in this class. I expected it to be interesting but what I got was the opposite. The professor seemed uncaring about the subject at times and the grading was all over the place. You don't get a detailed account of what he expects until halfway through! While the class was easy I walked away with little to show for my efforts.
He's a super adorable professor because he's naturally awkward. His lectures are memorable. You will need the textbook and additional reading. The class was based off of online assignments, 4 papers, 3 tests (one dropped) and one final.I would go to class. The class wasn't super easy, but it wasn't that difficult and I would love to have him again.
Great professor. He has that history teacher awkwardness to him but his lectures are pretty good & very clear. 3 tests (1 is dropped), a final (on the last 4-5 chapters of textbook), 4 papers (1-2 pages, really simple). Definitely recommend, i plan on taking him for AMH 2020 as well.
Took Dr.Head for Jeffersonian America and he is very clear with his expectations and how class will run. I have to say that he is adorably socially awkward when it comes to teaching the material. The class is very simple you have a takehome MidTerm that 6-8 pages 3 essays but only have to choose two 3-4 pages each and the Final a 3-4 page takehome.
Most of his test questions come from his powerpoints, not the book. His class is very straight forward and is not very interesting. Study the study guide!
Easy class, really straightforward and enthusiastic about his lectures. We wrote 4 short essays that weren't difficult and aren't done in class, we also had 4 multiple choice tests that he gives review sheets for.
He was a good guy, but a okay professor. Don't buy the book seriously don't he didn't ask for it ever! Test are extremely easy as well as the essays. I literally never came to class and got an A so don't stress out.
Really naturally awkward guy but he's nice. All our grades are discussion post and test which kind of sucks but he drops your lowest test grade. Overall nice guy and easy class as long as you do the discussions and study the study guide for the test. If you can keep up with the powerpoints and have the book, you can miss some classes and be fine.
Class is easy. Study for the three tests plus the final and you'll be fine. Only homework is the online Webcourses discussions, which are super easy and actually sometimes really interesting. Overall, a pretty good professor. Requires two books, Only used one of them.
Loved him! He's so passionate about history that his lectures were interesting and in depth. If you go to class and take notes on his lectures, the tests are a breeze. Lowest exam dropped, 4 papers (choose out of 7), and a participation grade.
Definitely need the book to pass, but even with reading all the material, I found the tests a little difficult. A couple paper assignments that add up to one final paper.
Great professor. Enjoyed his lectures, studying for his tests were straight forward, graded discussions every week weren't bad at all. I'm not good at all at memorizing history material but I still easily got a 100% in this class. Do the work, attend classes and study his lecture slides and you will do fine in this class.
He's a nice guy, a little awkward but its endearing. He is knowledgeable about his time period and enjoys history. I didn't have any problems with him. No textbook but you will have some online things to do for readings and such. Easy A if you apply yourself.
Nerdy and quirky guy but he is passionate and makes the subject easy to comprehend and listen to. Very chill class and very good choice.
One of the worst professors i've ever had. I went to every class and studied for each quiz and exam and still couldn't even pull out a C. Literally some of the hardest most pointless opinionated multiple choice questions ive ever had. DO NOT Recommend. Im warning you.
Dr. Head is a good professor! Had him for EUH2000 - class was an easy A. Never bought the textbook, went to less 1/2 the classes, and I ended up with an 88% (held an A the whole semester but didn't study for the final). Work load is consistent and not difficult. He's passionate about what he teaches, I felt bad that students didn't interact more.
Although you can survive this class without attending lecture going to the lectures may give you a chance to get some extra credit that is announce ahead of time. You do not necessarily need the textbook but you will need the "Heroes" book. I took this as a M mode class and it was very well organized.
Show up to class and take good notes, you'll be good for the two exams. Only outside work is quizzes and discussions. Read the textbook and you'll be sure to pass. Super smart and knows what he's talking about.
Professor Head has a very straight forward class from day one, no surprise assignments. He does not take attendance but going to class really helps with the online quizzes we take. Overall great person and great professor.
Hes such a nice and caring professor. He will take the time to answer your questions and give actual feedback on assignments in order for you to get a better grade. Quizzes were a little hard for me even though their online but history is also my worst subject. Overall, Id say hes an amazing professor and Id take him again.
While this class isn't necessarily fun, it's a super easy A for a GEP. Head can be funny at times and is always super straight forward in grading and assignments. Huck's Raft is a terrible book, but you only have to read like 4 chapters of it. Head seems like a great bet, for a boring class, and an easy A.
Both his Gen-ed for American and Western civilization are very easy general education courses. He tries to make his lectures a bit funny, although they are just slides. The books you have to read are long-winded , definitely skim and underline for details when it comes to the discussion assignment. 10/10 Would take another class of his
Dr. Head is a very nice guy. Don't let all the posts on here fool you. As an A student, looking to take a last easy GenEd, this was one of the most challeneging classes i've ever taken. Not sure if tests changed, but tests are all scenario based, and critical thinking. Would definitely not take him again. Lectures are very boring and exams are hard
His lectures actually make me interested in the topics. We have biweekly discussions & biweekly online quizzes which aren't too hard. He also doesn't check attendance but you have to come to class if you expect to pass. You don't have to buy a textbook because he puts all the resources online.
Dr. Head is a really chill guide. His lectures are off powerpoints. Theres's one midterm, the final, and an easy final project that has to be 3-4 pages.
Professor Head has extremely interesting lectures, which is awesome because his tests are lecture-based. He's able to make the content really entertaining and he's always willing to answer questions! I'm taking him again.
This guy was very into what he teaches, great personality, very caring about his students. Honestly, if you're doing what you're supposed to you can pass. I didn't do as well as I had hoped due to me not putting in the work. Class honestly wasn't too difficult, but you definitely have to put effort in.
I'm very bad at history and I managed to get a B .I didn't show up to class too often because I would just fall asleep (no matter how hard I tried to stay awake) Don't get me wrong though, he's a great history professor and very caring too. I did bad on the quizzes but I would get the extra credit on discussions and I would study hard for the M & F
good teacher, but the class is so boring. you might struggle a bit on the quizzes if you don't take notes or get them from someone. his midterm was super easy but the final was way harder, not too hard though. class is only once a week, but you wont miss much if you skip
Prof. Head has a really good personality and obviously cares. History is my worst subject but if you're even a little interested in the content it should be easy. He creates his own "types" of questions for quizzes/exams, so don't take this if you plan on using quizlet or getting through without even minimal effort.
He doesnt require going to class, but if you go, almost everything he says in class is on the exams. So if you take good notes, theres not too much outside work, and I enjoy going to his classes because he tells history like a story and it makes for an enjoyable lecture.
Attendance is not mandatory but is beneficial for the exams and quizzes as a lot of questions are pulled from what he says. The quizzes are moderately difficult. The discussions are based off of a book so you just have to read it. The final project is a few pages but he gives feedback and allows you to revise it. Great Guy! Would suggest taking him
He gives entertaining lectures, is an easy grader, looks for ways to help you succeed in the course and is great at making you interested in a period of history that can be a bit boring at times. The test are a bit hard but if you attend lectures and study its an easy class to pass.
He posts powerpoints up before the in-class meeting. Look over it and takes notes on his lecture and you will pass. I didn't read the textbook and still got good grades, but you can read it for extra material. He posts pdfs of the textbook so no need to buy. He gives extra credit for posting discussions early.
Professor Head is awesome. His tests are not based on the powerpoints (heads up - there is reading involved in this course) but they are based enough on what is taught in class. He is a really funny guy and really cares about his students.
Professor Head is honestly an amazing professor. During everything happening with Corona virus he has been sending us almost daily emails which are appreciated as he has not been leaving us in the dark, and telling us about class and everything. His lectures were pretty chill, what else could you expect for a 9:00 am. Overall, good prof/class.
Everything that you need to do was outlined in the syllabus. No surprises at all. All exams/quizzes were open book and none of them were cumulative and they all had a study guide which was EXTREMELY helpful. Discussion posts for each chapter were pretty easy. No final exam, just a final project that was pretty easy.
Really easy A. Had us take a survey about the class and then actually listened to us and made changes.
Taking this class online wasnt very fun. All of the info you need you have to learn yourself from just textbook readings. Discussion every unit but theres options for extra credit. Quiz every unit arent too easy either but if you know the info you should be OK. This class requires lots of effort and its definitely not a save til last minute
class isnt too hard but wouldny say its an easy a. he was very nice though and a good communicator. he also offers extra credit on discussions. just be prepared to read a lot cause you need to know the info to do well
I took this during COVID and he made it very easy to finish the assignments due for the week. Throughout the class he asked for feedback from us so he could improve his class and our learning. We had 2 assignments due every 2 weeks and then a final paper. Easy GEP class to take with him.
A class that was easy and complicated at the same time. Follow the criteria and you should be good. The exams are very notes focused so make sure to read.
Amazing professor. As long as you read and do the notes you should easily pass the class with an A as everything is open note/book + some extra cred. Gives great feedback about discussion boards, has extremely clear expectations, and overall cares about student success and takes feedback well. Probably one of the best professors you will ever have
He just gives you a textbook and a reading guide, no videos or powerpoint to help. The questions on the quizzes are very specific, and aren't really covered in the reading guides.
Class is simple to pass. Nothing too complicated.
I highly recommend Professor Head, as he is very caring, and also has amazing TA's who do not grade harshly, but give awesome feedback. As far as homework goes, there is a discussion post and a quiz due every two weeks, as he gives you a week to study and read the material. As long as you are reading, you will do great! 10/10 for sure!!
His class is so good. If you like history you will enjoy the class. Lots of reading. But the textbook is readable. You will have to actually understand the content to do well on the quizzes, you can't just google the answers. The documentaries are interesting and so are the discussions. If you are actually interested in learning take this class.
Great professor who truly cares about his students. Give his class your attention for a day or so out of your week and you are essentially guaranteed a high A. Wish every professor at UCF was as great as professor Head.
One quiz and one discussion post due every two weeks. You can receive extra credit on the discussion posts. He gave decent feedback early on, but stopped towards the end of the semester. I never read the book he assigned us and only watched the documentaries (Questions from the book will be on the quizzes). No exams and the final is a project. Easy
There were discussion posts and unit quizzes due every 2 weeks. The final project required little effort. This class was very straightforward and simple. I never really read the reading assignments or watched the documentaries but I'm passing with nearly an A. Keep in mind I got C's and D's on the unit quizzes but I did good on discussion posts.
I really enjoyed Dr. Head's class. You have a weekly test and short essay. Tests are relatively easy if you read the material and essays are simple as well and he gives you some options about what to write. The documentaries he shows are interesting as well. The final is sort of a creative writing project and he allows a lot of creative freedom.
1 test and 1 discussion every 2 weeks. Everything was open book and open notes. Super easy. Textbook was free and online, and the book could be found at the library or online for free. I actually learned history. Easy to read book, textbook, and documentaries. Overall, great choice for a gen ed. 1 paper at the end that wasn't a standard essay.
Prof Head was truly amazing. Very passionate about the subject. He's pretty funny, too. Tests are based off the lectures, so if you take notes & do the reading guides you're golden. Final is NOT cumulative which is beautiful. A few discussions throughout the semester & a final project. Overall, very awesome and would take again!
I love Professor Head so much. His lectures are the first of all my history professors ever to constantly keep my attention. His workload is perfect. He is so relaxed and understanding. Just show up to the lectures and study for the tests and you're pretty much set! The textbook doesn't need to be bought. I can't recommend someone more!
This is a decent class, not a ton of work, option for extra credit, he drops a couple tests/assignments, and gives reading guide questions for each chapter and test which helps a lot. Hes respectful and understanding, and records his lectures and uploads PowerPoints. Easy enough to get at least a B
Great professor. Very laid back and tries to make class as fun as possible. Easy to pass.
Only 3 tests and drops a whole test, 5 discussions and drops a whole discussion. Overall a really nice guy and actually cares about each student passing his class, very knowledgeable on the course material as well. The tests were straightforward and simple, if you did the study guides he provides and do the discussions correctly, you'll get an A.
If you can avoid this class just dont take it. Its very boring and this professor just reads off PowerPoint slides which I could have done myself. Its an easy class but would recommend taking another class or different professor if youre taking it to satisfy your GEP courses.
The class has 3 exams (1 gets dropped), a final exam, a final project, and 5 discussion posts (1 gets dropped & you can get extra credit by replying to someone/turning in early). His tests are based almost entirely on the lectures, so make sure you go or watch the recordings. He covers a lot of material, so lots of note-taking. Easy A if you study.
I 100% recommend Mr. Head he was wonderful! I really appreciated him accommodating me when I get sick before finals. He gives extra credit and his tests are really easy. He drops the lowest discussion and test grade. I got a 98 in this class take it!
He's a great person and clearly enjoys teaching, but his lectures were hard to sit through. The notes he would post were difficult to understand if you weren't paying attention to what he said while on that slide. Never used the textbook but the other book he requires for the discussion is a must have. Exams are pretty hard too but one gets dropped
Dr. Head truly loves what he does. He is an amazing teacher and the tests and discussions are easy. This class will not take that much of your time. Would take again.
Dr. Head is a really funny guy, and it's no doubt he loves what he teaches. His tests can be a bit difficult, but if you study the slides he posts, you should be good. Plus, he posts the slides and lecture recordings which is really helpful.
One of the best professors! His lectures are very interesting and set you up to succeed on the exams. There is 3 exams and 1 final exam in the whole semester and 5 discussion posts (lowest d.p. grade gets dropped) You honestly don't really need the textbook. Also if you miss a lecture, he posted a recording of the lecture online.
Dr. Head is an incredible professor who you can tell is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. The assignments consist of 3 in person tests (lowest one is dropped), a final exam, and 6 discussions (lowest one is dropped). Very easy class to pass and understand, if you are taking for GEP I would 100% recommend taking him.
There aren't many professors like Mr. Head anymore... he is so caring and is lecture heavy, but his lectures are very worthwhile, but always optional. There are only 4 tests all semester, and 5 discussion boards: one of which get dropped. He offers extra credit and is always available if you need help If you need a GEP, take this professor!
Professor Head is great! There are only 5 discussion posts in the semester and he offers extra credit on each. You are also graded on tests. Tests are fairly easy, just make sure to review the PowerPoint. I never once used the textbook for this class.
Excellent professor who cares. He provides ample opportunities for extra credit, cares about the subject and the students, and provides amazing lectures. He always posts the lectures online afterward so you can access them for review, or if you miss class due to real life circumstances. 10/10 would recommend. Received an A+ for the course AMH2010.
LOVE HIM! His syllabus is 3 exams (drops the lowest one), 5 discussions (drops the lowest one), and a final (is not cumulative). Exams are easy if you review the study guide. Discussions are easy if you write a lot (his TAs sometimes grades them hard). Attendance is not mandatory and all his lectures are recorded- so you can watch them later.
He drops your lowest exam score, drops your lowest discussion score(which you can earn extra credit on), and the final is only on the last few chapters, not the course as a whole. Exams are easy if you study the guides. Don't even have to attend the class to pass, all lectures are recorded and posted. An easy A if you put in just a little effort.
Very very clear lectures and instructions about assignments.
Dr. Head is an incredible professor! He genuinely cares about his students. His lectures are interesting and accessible. Offers extra credit on discussion posts. Tests are easy and straight from the info learned in the lectures. Overall, this is just the ideal class. You should have no problem passing (and will probably make an A).
I loved this class. With the hurricane, we did not spend all the time in class but when we were online his prerecorded lectures were great (I also skipped a few lessons). He is a pretty easy grader as long as you follow his guidelines (if you're ever confused he is always really good at explaining it). His class is pretty hard to fail!
Best professor! This class was very easy and minimal work. Test were straight from the lectures. He is super caring and respectful and willing to work with you. MC tests and a few discussions and both are very easy and straightforward. Take his class you won't regret it!
Prof. Head was great. Assignments are easy and instructions are clear. Tests are based on the lectures which are also funny. I recommend the class with this professor.
Professor Head's class was a very enjoyable experience overall. Lectures were provided in an organized manner intertwined with humor and relatable stories which made class engagement lots of fun. Tests were very fair and primarily based off lectures. Discussions are the other main assignment focusing on documentaries and class readings. Easy A.
Dr. Head is definitely the easiest professor I had this semester. His lectures go straight to the point and don't include useless information. His class has ended early on multiple occasions, and his assignments are rather simple. He has a few weekly discussions, but gives you plenty of warnings about it and lots of extra credit opportunities.
Drops the lowest test grade. As long as you attend the lectures, the tests should be easy.
Was a very easy class. Didn't really have to go to class as long as you went to the review sessions and looked at the slides you will get an A. Offers extra credit on every assignment. Overall would take again and an easy A
This professor was super kind and the class was super easy. The lectures are clear and make history fun to learn, and there was virtually no homework besides a few discussion posts. The tests are important but he gives a review that mirrors the tests completely. Absolutely loved this class.
One of the most excellent professors/teachers I've ever had. A really nice guy who doesn't give a lot of work and makes the lectures interesting. As long as you care about passing this class you will.
He was great. His class was not difficult at all. The main components of the class are discussion assignments which are graded and tests. The discussion is pretty easy once you get the hang of it and you get extra credit for answering early and responding to others. The tests are not difficult if you pay attention to the lectures and read the book.
Great professor! This class's grades were based on tests and discussion posts, and he offers lots of extra credit. He records his lectures in case you miss a class. Any reading/textbooks he used, he made sure you could read or download for free online. He makes his lectures interesting and he's a funny guy. Study guides were basically the tests.
Professor Head's class was very easy to get through. I was able to understand the information easily and was able to complete the work quickly. There is a lot of writing, but it isn't terrible. There is also a textbook that you can access online, but I was able to complete a lot of assignments without it.
Very Few assignments. Awesome lectures
Professor Head is awesome. Class is made of up of 3 exams (one of which you can drop) and the final exam. Additionally, the only assignments are 5 discussion posts (one of which you can drop). Highly recommend taking this course to satisfy a GEP requirement.
Professor Head is a great professor and does a good job making resources available for students. His lectures are short and concise, and he is a funny guy as well. My only criticism is that the study guides for exams are somewhat irrelevant to the test questions, with only about 20% of the questions actually relating to the study guide.
I loved Professor Head! He's helpful and caring. There are 3 tests, and he drops the lowest of the first two (third is the final exam). He posts everything online, even the recorded lectures. If you try on discussions and tests it'll be an easy 100. He makes really helpful study guides and goes over them, so if you do it you'll be fine! TAKE HIM!
One of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are entertaining and informative. He doesn't overload you with work or information, and makes sure you are well prepared for exams. Highly recommend taking his class.
Very chill class. 5 discussion posts, with one being dropped, and 3 tests including the final. Tests were fairly easy if you attend lectures and the final was not cumulative. Lectures were interesting and informative, and he is very friendly and not strict at all. Overall highly recommend, great professor.
He is a really nice, funny and understanding guy. He does not require attendance and he posts his lectures on zoom after class which is super great. There is a textbook, but you can get away with not reading it. He offers tons of extra credit and all his exams are pretty easy as long as you do the reviews he posts. I ended the class with a 101%.
Great professor, one of the best on campus!!! The class is super easy. His lectures are really interesting and all the test questions are based off of the lectures. I would definitely recommend taking this class.
I am not the type of person that is interested in history, but his lectures are fun to listen to. He provides study guides for the tests. 2 tests and 1 final. Lowest of the two test grades are dropped. Lots of extra credit. 5 discussions are easy and interesting. Only counts 4. Very funny and nice professor. 100% recommend for AMH2010.
He is a very well put-together professor; he is organized and thorough. Essays have generally easy-to-understand guidelines on top of interesting subject matter. I absolutely recommend him as a professor to anyone.
He was a genuinely amazing guy. I took him my first semester of college and he made me enjoy history. He talks about his life as well sometimes which makes you feel more connected with him and it also takes off the heat of the class lecture. exams translated exactly what he taught on slides. also nicest guy ever.
Head's class is light on coursework. Two discussion posts biweekly, you only have to do 1 and the other gets excused. Quizzes biweekly as well. Final project at the end of the course. He's very generous with grading and it is hard to get less than an A in his class. Content is actually educational as well, did learn in his class. Recommend taking.
Dr. Head is a very relaxed professor who is very understanding of student concerns. Absolutely recommend!
Professor Head was genuinely one of the best. His lectures were engaging, he's super funny and the work wasn't hard, the two tests were pretty easy and the lowest grade is dropped, he's very kind about grading.
Had Dr. Head for AMH 2010 and his class is great. Attendance isn't mandatory, tests are almost a guaranteed A if you follow the study guide and attend the study session. 6 short papers but they're rather easy and requirements on citing/length/format is very relaxed. Overall, this is a great class especially because isn't very time-consuming.
Dr. Head was definitely my favorite professor this semester. His lectures were very entertaining as he finds ways to relate the material to his and our lives without going off topic. Tests are all multiple choice and he drops your lowest score. You only really have to do two hw assignments the entire semester, which are really easy. :)))
Attendance wasn't mandatory, but it was super fun going to his class. He made the lectures very interesting and fun, and he had a great sense of humor. If you miss a lecture, he records all of them and posts them the same day, which also makes it helpful when studying for tests. The essays are short and easy, follow the rubric and you'll get an A
Such a fun class! Prof. Head made the lectures really fun, especially for a morning class. Attendance not required, and he always records the lectures to review later. Very punctual and responsive with emails and grading, and the content and course load was very manageable.
Definitely had great energy and very chill. Super sweet
Great GEP to take ur freshman year, interesting lectures and not mandatory attendance. Super chill professor who makes it easy to pass. Rlly funny guy so actually go to his lectures it's enjoyable!
Great with recognizing we are all people and make mistakes. Lectures are very easy to follow along. Great professor.
Lectures every week, uploaded online if you don't go. Tests are exactly like the study guides, very personable and a good prof. Good class to take for gep or major.
Classes are lecture based and majority of assignments and exam material is based on the lectures. Lectures are recorded and attendance is not mandatory so missing class is easy. Grade is based of 2 exams (one being the final) but an option for 3 available tests and Papers. Only 2-3 required papers but 6-7 options. Very manageable class.
Professor Head was a great American history teacher! He was unbiased and focused more on cultural trends and what life was like of the different periods instead of hammering dates and events. If you attend lecture, skim the book, and not forget about the 1pg paper assignments, you'll do fine! Is +/- grading scale just FYI.
I loved my class with Professor Head. The class itself was very straightforward and clear. Study up the night before the exams and go over the lecture slides to refresh. The grading is based off of a handful of papers and 3 quizzes, with a lot of dropped assignments.
Easy to listen to lectures, attendance not required, and hilarious guy. There were six papers, four of them are required for you to complete with the lowest of those four dropped. Three tests, one dropped. Amazing guy, I couldn't recommend anyone better!
This guy is really funny and you can tell that he enjoys his work. His lectures are recorded and he posts corresponding PowerPoint slides that make catching up on missed classes very easy. I would also strongly recommend attending his review classes for tests.
Clearly cares about what he is teaching and he makes the lectures fun to go to. He always has small jokes about what's going on to keep you interested. 2 tests with lowest graded dropped, 3 400 word papers with lowest grade dropped, and multiple extra credit opportunities. Very light grader on papers. It takes an incredible amount of lazy to fail.
Great Guy and Class
The professor is very funny and makes you want to come to the lecture even if the PowerPoint and lecture are posted online. You only have to do 4 out of the 6 writings, and the lowest grade is dropped. The writings are fairly easy and cover interesting topics.
Professor Head is absolutely incredible! If you're looking for a funny and great teacher, he is definitely it. His lectures for Western Civilization were always so enjoyable. There was never a dull moment in class especially since Professor Head is always connecting History in a modern light.
I'm not the biggest fan of history but this professor definitely knows how to make it enjoyable and interesting. The class itself is not difficult, 2 tests in class (lowest drops), 3 short papers, 3/4 paper, and final exam. He gives out study guides before tests and even goes through the study guide in class. He is very understanding and funny!!
Bros goated
Such an amazing professor, i had the flu and couldn't take a test one day he was so understanding about rescheduling with me. made all his lectures enjoyable.
If you have to take a class to fulfill GEP 3 then take this class with David Head this was a super easy class and I really enjoyed the lectures. If you don't enjoy his lectures or miss one he records and posts them after so you can watch on 2x speed. The test were easy and he drops one. Take this class
Two tests with the lowest grade dropped. 6 short essays but you only had to do 3 of them with the lowest grade dropped. An essay project but it wasn't much harder than the short essays. Lectures are recorded and put on the webcourse page, and the PowerPoint used in the lecture is also on the webcourse page. 10/10 prof, he was really good!
Loved the guy and passed with straight A's. He records all lectures and uploads PowerPoint, so when I had to miss, I could easily catch up.
Professor Head makes history engaging. His lectures are entertaining and informative. Attend class, use the study guides, and try unstuck ai - you'll do great in this class.
Records his lectures and lets you view them later big help for missed classes. Head also made study guides for the tests which are a big help, and the material on the tests were a mix of the assigned book chapters and his lectures, nothing crazy. The papers also weren't too bad as long as you stay on topic easy to get a good grade.
I took Professor Head in the Fall semester of 2024, and he was literally amazing. He is very understanding and he does not give the class a hard workload at all. Makes jokes during the lectures and records them so that you can always review for a test or if you have missed a class. His assignments are easy and his tests as well. Would take again!
Such a lovely professor, every lecture was always insanely fun and made me enjoy learning the material. Tests are easy if you study, and the papers are easy to write if you actually put in the work. Would literally retake his class if I could.
Professor Head was a great professor with hilarious and insightful lectures. He was extremely nice throughout the semester and provided a few opportunities for extra credit. His assignments were easy and fun and there's only a few throughout the semester. The tests weren't too hard if you reviewed well and the lectures applied to the tests.
There is a project, 3 short papers (1 dropped), 3 exams (1 dropped), and multiple extra credit opportunities. All assignments and exams are extremely easy. He is an icon.
He was honestly great. Obviously, you should listen to his lectures and the content but the exams are so easy and straightforward and he films the lectures too so if you miss a class you can just go back and rewatch. He's the best.
Honestly, he was so great. The grading system was straight forward and on essays he left commentary explaining what needs to be improved. The tests were straight from the study guide. There is minimal homework for this class and the assignments assigned are not time consuming at all. Some assignments dropped at end of semester.
Took him for Western Civ. (mixed mode, 2x/week). Lectures not required but super helpful. He explains slides well. Drops lowest test & essay, final isn't cumulative. Gave feedback on essays before submission & offered extra credit. Fair, supportive, highly recommend!
If you're looking for an easy GEP, I would highly recommend taking his class. He is super understanding and grades easy. Gives reviews that are almost word for word what you'll see on the exam. Not many assignments (3 short papers, 3 exams, 1 essay). Also records all of his lectures. Super passionate about what he teaches. 10/10 professor!!
SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR👏 I took this class just as a GEP requirement but honestly learned a lot and it was a super easy class. There's 3 short papers, 2 exams(minus final), and a final project (just a 2 page paper) which he drops the lowest grade for each and also gives extra credit. He's genuinely such an understanding person too!
i highly recommend taking this professor if you need to fill a gep requirement!! He makes the course super simple and also gives out extra credit assignments and drops lowest grade for each paper and test you take. Even though his lectures aren't required they're really engaging! 10/10 highly recommend!!!
He's great! Took him for history and retained it all. Lectures easy to follow and he lays everything out. Attendance not mandatory & he posts every lecture. It's nice to have the option. I will say you have to watch or attend the lectures in order to succeed on the tests. 3 short essays but they are all 500 words and simple. Take classes with him!
Great professor!! Class and lectures were easy to follow, and attendance was not mandatory. He posts all his lectures online and makes it easy for you to pass. Drops the lowest test grade and has many opportunities for extra credit. He is a genuine and likeable guy, 100% would take again!!
Lectures were exactly referenced in tests. We were assigned a textbook but I did not find it necessary or relevant to reference. A few short papers but all were fairly graded with ample time to complete. Professor Head is very understanding and kind, definitely would recommend taking him!
Great professor! Exciting class and engaging! He posts and records all his lessons, but be careful not to fall into a habit of only using the PowerPoint when you miss/skip a class. His lectures add extra depth to each concept. Short papers are required, but they are on interesting topics, usually knock them out in about an hour + 30 mins.
Loved this class and prof. Lectures were super easy to understand and available online through zoom. Allowed reviews for each assignment so you know what you need to fix in it to get a 100 when it is due. Had extra credit for the final. Helped with everything I had questions about. Makes study guides for all tests.
He's one of the best professors I've had so far! He's super understanding, and his lectures are very enjoyable. They're also recorded, which is convenient. He offers many extra credit opportunities and drops the lowest exam grade. His study guides are very similar to the actual exams and his assignments were very manageable.
One of the best professor's I've had so far at UCF, the lectures are super entertaining and the documentaries and readings he assigns were pretty fun too. I actually enjoyed writing the essays and final project and got great feedback on my project. Only like 7 total grades for the semester, great to pair with a harder course load.
this was an easy and stress-free class.. and prof head was always very understanding of circumstances!! and he's also very silly. i recommend if you want an easy gep class to take!
SO GOOD his lectures are very helpful and he explains the material very well. He is passionate about what he teaches and he makes it interesting for students. I would 100% recommend
best teacher at ucf. would take him again. attendance isnt mandatory and he posts his lectures and slides online. stopped going to class after 2 months and still ended with a A. very caring and treats his students like people. makes class interesting & you have 3 assignments throughout the semester, just 3 papers that are very easy and interesting.
If you need a GEP history class, this is the one to take.
I had this professor for american history and enjoyed the course so much I took him again for western civ 1. His lectures are very entertaining and informational. The class is made up of 6 papers of which you have to do 4 and your lowest grade is dropped. The prompts of the papers are really interesting and makes writing them enjoyable.
Despite not liking history, Professor Head worked well with his students and wanted to help us succeed. We had three papers all semester and four exams, so the course load was very manageable.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Super nice and helpful with any assignment (not that many in the first place). The 3 papers you have todo take a bit to finsih but I helped me retain info while being fun. 3 extra credit assignments. His lectors are interesting and don't feel like a drag to go too. Loved his class and everything about it
Great lectures, and not very textbook heavy at all. He provides the slides and records the lectures in case you miss one or if you want to review before a test. Grade is mostly made-up of essays (worth about 70% I think), but the essays are pretty easy. Overall, great class and teacher.
nice guy should be an easy pass as long as you put a bit of effort into understanding the study guides the tests should be easy and you're never gonna have to do that much work
Professor Head is a very fun and engaging professor. Class was not mandatory. He gave me a low score on the final paper, but allowed me to redo it and I ended up earning an A in the paper. He is super understanding and willing to help you out!
Dr. Head's teaching style and engagement were great. All of the assignments had very clear expectations and rubrics with insightful feedback on submissions. 4 short papers, 1 project, and 3 tests are all the assignments, so not a heavy workload. Recorded lectures and good study guides.
Genuinely such an amazing teacher and person. I don't like history but his lectures were always interesting. You can tell he loves teaching and wants his students to succeed. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
I LOVED HIS CLASS!!!! There was 6 essay questions and 3 tests, including the final. If you need AMH for a GEP this is the class to take!
A pretty easy professor, overall. He gives plenty of options for assignments and none of them are particularly difficult. If you're looking for a professor that is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject, I'm afraid he's not the best option though. There were times when the students even had to correct him on topics.
Professor Head is an engaging professor. I went to almost every lecture, Head interacted with the class and made sure the material was comprehended. Once I forgot to turn in a paper because I was laying for the draft grade (and simply forgot). I told him about my simple mistake and he took the time to reopen the assignment and turn it in. Good man.
Attendance was NOT mandatory the only time you had to show up was on test days. All of the lectures are word for word of the slides posted on canvas. There are a total of 4 papers that you will have to write for this class, you have 6 topic options you pick 4 and your best 2 grades are kept. There are 2 tests the lowest is dropped then the final.
Took this class for my gordan rule requirement. The class is super easy, and the professor is awesome. There are 6 writing assignments in total, only 4 count for your grade; it's a very light workload. The writing assignments are easy to complete as well because they allow you to answer with your own opinions. Overall, cool guy and nice TA's.
Dr. Head is an amazing and very understanding professor. His lectures are genuinely fun and the paper topics he assigns are always interesting (e.g. would you survive ancient Egypt). All of his lectures are recorded, and he provides practice tests and study guides for every exam. I would absolutely take another class with him if I had the chance!
Great guy and lectures that are genuinely fun to listen to. All lectures are posted online if you miss class. Tests are straightforward with the study guide he provides. Graded by 5 papers (2 dropped) and 2 tests (1 dropped), and the final. The papers are usually based on pretty entertaining documentaries.Only thing to be wary that an A is 94%.
Great professor, enjoys what he teaches. Focuses on students learning the material rather than stressing them with unnecessary work. Just write the short papers given throughout the semester and complete the work on time, and you will most likely get a great grade. Clear grading criteria, with straightforward concepts on the exams. Take this class!
Amazing history professor! He explains everything in a way that's super easy to understand and really brings the material to life. He's also very caring, approachable, and always willing to help outside of class. If you need a GEP course, definitely take him if you can
Super easy class, great professor who is funny and actually likes his job. Would 100% do it again
Honestly my favorite professor I've had. Actually made me enjoy history, lectures were great he's awesome. Tests are easy if you study. He provides study guides and goes over it. Recommend writing down lecture notes before the lecture so you can lock in on key points he talks about during lectures if you don't multitask well.
I never liked history until taking this class. You could skip every class and miss nothing, I attended because I liked the interesting material. Professor has a great personality. Grades by very few things, finished with a 99%. There's a couple tests and a couple papers, with the tests pretty much being exactly what was on the study guide.
TAKE THIS CLASS! so easy! I had a few problems with turning in my essay once and he was so understanding and gave me an extension.graded off three tests and four short essays for the whole class. for the tests he does study guide days and if you show up those days your set for the tests because the study guide is the same questions as the tests.
Dr. Head was absolutely amazing!!! He is so kind and funny. You can tell he has a deep love for what he teaches, and he is eager to answer any question you have. He is quick to respond to emails, and all his assignments for the year were clearly laid out. I recommend him a million times over.
Incredibly cool, lenient, understanding, and funny. Attendance isn't mandatory and lectures are posted on Zoom. I would have never expected my GEP requirements to be one of my favorite classes this semester. If the other reviews haven't said it enough, this is a professor who wants nothing more than to see his students succeed.
