Absolutely terrible. Confusing lectures. Unreasonable workload on homework assignments. No answer keys. He has trouble explaining concepts in class. The worst Economics professor I ever had.
David is a great lecturer and always was able to answer my questions. He explains topics way better than the textbook so always go to class. There is a lot of homework but it makes the midterms so much easier.
Awful. Gives an insane amount of homework that is completely unrelated to what we do in class. Theres a quiz at the beginning of just about every lecture. Way too much of a time commitment and no guarantee that you get a good grade. Textbook is terrible.
He assigns a lot of homework and many of the problems are irrelevant. He doesn't provide homework solutions or explain them specifically. Lectures are okay but he really doesn't write a lot on the board so even if you go to lecture you still need to read the terrible textbook before doing homework. Exam grading is unfair.
Prof. Hewitt's Game Theory class was always very interesting. His lectures are easy to follow and helpful in doing the homework. There is a TON of homework and some of the questions are ridiculously difficult, but they prepare you well for the exams. If you're willing to put the work in, this is a fairly easy A.
Homework has nothing to do with the lecture. Very little done in lecture will most likely have to teach yourself
I had him for Game Theory and Intermediate Macro, personally he is great and very helpful - that is if you actually approach him. I had some trouble in the beginning, not being able to complete my homework on time, and he gave me an extension on homework, and the exam is easier than the homework. He also assigns a few readings, & not the whole book
His lectures are almost useless. He barely writes on the board and he doesn't use any kind of notes. He talk for the entire class time but when you look back at what was actually covered you realize he gave no real information. Get ready to teach the course to yourself.
David is a good professor but sometimes his lectures get a little monotonous. Not a ton of homework in intermediate macro, two midterms and a final. As long as you pay attention in class you should be okay. He is also readily available outside of class.
Hewitt wasn't my favorite lecturer. He doesn't write much on the board & he solely speaks for the entire 50 mins of class. I found this very difficult to take notes from. There are quizzes in every recitation & I learned more from my TA. Exams were cumulative & weren't difficult, but his wording is hard to understand. Seemed to curve quite a bit.
So, heres the deal with his basic macro class. You need to buy the book-the HW is from it. The HW is a big deal, put effort into it and thats basically the best way to learn the material. You have quizzes in recitation that the TA will administer, based on lecture. His lectures can feel like disorganized and hectic; but he knows his stuff.
He is not a bad professor and is willing to help you if you need it; however, his lectures are very disorganized and I learned most of the material from the textbook. The best part about his class is that he manipulates the grading system to work in your favor (dropping your worst test score). He also curves and offers extra credit.
Hewitt was not a good lecturer. He was funny, but I did not feel like I learned anything from the class. Many of the conceptual things in his lectures were hard to grasp after he tried explaining, and I did not do as well as I wanted overall in his class. The Aplia assignments typically did not help me with his tests, which sucked.
Hewitt is a very passionate teacher. His notes are all over the place and hard to keep track of, but he will tell you what will be on the test. Pay attention in class because he does not follow the book.
took his intro to macro class, he's really clear about what's on the exams & won't make you waste time on stuff you won't actually use. he gives a fair amount of online homework but it's a grade booster and helps u understand the topics. his lectures are helpful because he tends to elaborate/explain the topics in the book rather than just restating
Decent professor with a sometimes boring lecture. Later in the semester when you do IS-LM graphs he is more interesting and explains them really well. Do not buy the textbook, I used it zero times. The homework is important as it counts as 20% of your grade (the same as a midterm). Relatively easy class however but can be boring at times.
Prof Hewitt is a great guy and very understanding. I would never say a class is an easy A, but it is very reasonable to expect getting an A in Professor Hewitt's class if you follow along in lectures and do homework diligently (at least sometimes). He opens class with a lighthearted video and makes lectures as interesting as possible.
IDK why Prof Hewitt is rated so low. The guy is amazing! Honestly, his exams are very fair. He basically tells you what's on the exam. His lectures are decent. He has a decent amount of homework but it helps you prepare for the exam and it's worth 20% of your grade. He also gives extra credit. Take him if you can! It's not that hard to get an A.
i had hewitt for intro to macro. he tries his best to make the lectures fun. no need to buy the textbook bc the slides used in class are online which really help. there's a lot of homework but he also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. it gets really confusing at the end of the semester with the ISLM graphs.
I mean he isn't terrible, but he's not really good. He tries to make class entertaining but it just isn't. The class is fine and the first two exams are pretty straightforward, but, as soon as you get into the ISLM-ASAD stuff, you're going to get pretty confused. After the second exam you have to go to lecture because he doesn't use slides. Meh
Pretty easy. Exams were very straightforward and he will tell you what's on it. Just make sure you check the homework once a week. New stuff pops up often. You don't need the book.
Seriously if you put in a tiny bit of effort and actually pay attention in class, you should be fine. He's very caring, pretty funny, and actually teaches the material well. Know the IS-LM stuff.
His tests were very fair, with an accurate topic list released beforehand. All test topics are also discussed in lecture/recitation with countless examples. My only complaint is that the homework for the second half of the course was a little different than what was discussed in lecture. That being said, it never appeared on exams.
I found this class was very manageable if you showed up and took notes. It was sometimes difficult to follow, but the exams were fair. Hewitt is hilarious and an overall nice, approachable professor.
Hewitts class is a good choice for students new to economics. The workload is manageable and his tests are very fair. Hes a nice guy and his lectures were relatively interesting (high praise coming from someone who doesnt care for Econ). You may have to do a bit of self teaching with the mathematical concepts, buts its not too bad.
I love David! I think he is great at explaining concepts and really made me understand what was going on. He's an awesome guy and starts every class with a funny video he found. A lot of people found his lectures confusing, but I am an econ major so I can't speak for those taking the class as a gen ed.
Hewitt was very accommodating. He gave me a chance to complete homework assignments that were due weeks earlier. Really helped my grade. His lectures arent that exciting but they get the information across. His tests are fair and he tells you what will he on them prior.
He is a good teacher and is very knowledgable about the topics. The first test is pretty easy, but the last two are much more difficult. Make sure to take advantage of recitation and homework points.
Hewitt is a great teacher. He gives a lot of hints as to what he'll put on tests and highlights things he will skip during lectures. Just looking at the powerpoints he posts won't give you that insight. There's a lot of homework but it's relatively easy and worth points. My favorite aspect of his teaching is his written examples during class.
He always shows funny videos at the beginning of class and he's very funny himself. He is very good at explaining concepts and the exams are fair. Sadly he doesn't like using a mic so it's hard to hear in the big lecture hall sometimes.
I HATED THIS CLASS! they guy doesnt know how to teach. It was a lot of work for no return because I didnt learn anything. Not a good professor and doesnt seem to want students to do well.
One of the worst professors Ive ever had. Super unorganized(especially when we switched to online learning) &unresponsive to emails. Was never clear as to what we would be tested on for each midterm. Homework was due before lecture on stuff we hadn't learned yet. Just awful. Do yourself a favor & take this class with a professor who actually cares
I really enjoyed Hewitt's intro macro class. He makes the lectures extremely interesting and engaging, and uses good real world examples to explain topics. With that being said, there is a lot of work for an intro class, so if you don't actually enjoy economics you might struggle. The class was a little disorganized but he was pretty easy-going
Highly inconsiderate professor. When we transitioned to online, he made the class much more complicated and wasnt available. Told us the day before he posted it that we had a final exam. CourseWeb wasnt clear for us
Hewitt blew it. We moved to online and he made the lectures longer than the class was actually allotted. He told us about our exam the day before he posted it. His lectures are very easy, but he gives no fair guidelines for what to expect on exams. Really made this topic way harder than it should be at an intro level.
It wasn't difficult until we switched to online. He made the lectures longer and it became very unclear what material to study for the final. He didn't notify us of our final until the day before. Disorganized and a bit unfair.
I had Prof Hewitt for MacroEcon, the tests are what puts him at a 3 for me. I found his tests very difficult to finish on time, even when we switched to online. They're multiple choice and graphing, I felt like he could get rid of some multiple choice and they'd be fine. HW is all online and easy. Overall felt a little too difficult for a gen ed.
Our homework was on material due the next class and nothing could be found in the textbook. His study guides are ridiculously vague and don't help you study whatsoever. He gave NO information about the final until he posted it and didn't tell us anything about the format or how to access it and recitation was awful. Steer clear to save your sanity.
I like Dr. Hewitt. We had some homework due online twice a week and it wasnt bad but it didnt always relate to what we were learning. The textbook was free and I only really used it for the homework. Before lecture he would play a funny video and he had an upbeat mood in general. The beginning of this class was mostly a review of microeconomics.
Dr. Hewitt is a smart guy, but he cannot lecture well. He doesn't clarify confusing concepts and since this class was so large, he would often put the burden on the TA to teach us, which depending on your TA was hit or miss. Open ended exams, typical busy work homework, not my type of econ class.
He doesn't use lecture supplements so if you miss a class you're left in the dark, but he is very accessible outside of class. He breaks down concepts very well. Exams were very fair. The material ramps up in difficulty after the first exam but if you go to office hours he definitely helps out. Would definitely recommend him!
I have no clue why Hewitt is so low, his lectures are super interesting and he breaks down topics very well. His class isn't challenging work wise and he's a super chill dude. Definitely take him.
This course is required for the business school and I would highly suggest taking it with another professor. His exams were much more complicated than what we went through in class; pretty much all open ended and vague. The only thing holding myself and the others I knew in his class up were points from homework and recitation.
Professor Hewitt may know his stuff, but his students do not after taking his class. I was able to skip lecture and still do well on the homeworks and recitations because of studying outside of the classroom. The homework and recitation in no way reflected the difficulty of the exams. After switching to online his meager teaching skills continued.
Hewitt is genuinely great. He's a little quirky (e.g. he plays funny YouTube videos as you walk into lecture) but you quickly learn to love him once you realize how well he understands the topics and how much he encourages questions in class. Problem sets are assigned regularly but they are doable if you attend lectures and the exams are the same.
Never take Hewitt for Macro. He does not care about students at all. Tests were unreasonable on things that were never taught. The lectures are confusing and not helpful.
People like Hewitt for being able to talk about games with him, but thats poor criteria. I rated him poorly because his teaching is lacking with lots of rambling. Additionally, we had pop quizzes on the material that was poorly taught that day... That is not learning, homework is for learning. He is also very condescending at office hours. Bad Prof
He gave us quizzes about material we learned that DAY. I thought that the reviews here wouldnt be indicative of his actual performance, but I was wrong. Hewitt is a terrible professor for learning, and he has no clear path of teaching so he just rambles. I had to use other sources to learn. I dont understand what people like about this guy.
Hewitt was the best professor I've had thus far at Pitt. To do well, I recommend going to lectures and study for the final seriously. I took his class in-person my freshman year and he was very easy to get into contact with via email. He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to learn. He prepares you very well for higher econ courses.
Great guy. Just pay attention in class and you'll do very well. He doesn't use prepared slides because he works through examples in class, narrating (and writing) every step. Everything you ever need to know is always in the lecture notes, which he posts after class. Annotate your notes well and you always have everything you need in front of you.
Im not a econ person and Hewitts class was great. I took his Game Theory class online and it was hard but he gives you plenty of opportunities to raise your grade, just reach out to him if your struggling. He was an interesting lecturer, but be ready to work for your grade.
His exams are fair and almost exactly mirror the homework, so as long as you know how to do the homework, you're pretty much set for the class. The material itself was interesting, and he was a nice professor but it was a bit stressful as the material got harder.
Class would go 30-45 mins after scheduled end time and he would give graded assignments during this time so if you left early, grade dropped. Exams took 2- 2 1/2 hours to complete. Teacher was not available for office hours and made many mistakes in notes during class which would lead to a lot of confusion
This guy is downright awful (Econ 1700). His expectations are that you write a paper worthy of being published in an economic journal, so in turn, every paper you write is horrendous by his standards but at least you're allowed to redo it for a maximum grade of a 90. Enormous time commitment just for your paper to get torn apart. Avoid at all costs
Prof Hewitt is very nice, knowledgeable, and understanding. He is very approachable. His lectures are important not to miss, as his class structure is learn outside of class and review in lectures. Heavy on homework, however it is not too difficult. Tests are on the harder side, but if you know your stuff doable.
Professor Hewitt is one of the worst professors I have had. It is impossible and the only tests in the class are a mid term and final, which are both all open ended. If you do bad on either, you basically fail the course because there aren't many other grades.
Completely unsure how he is qualified as a professor. Assigned homework BEFORE teaching the material, and near the end of the semester he had assigned homework that was A.) Never taught in lecture or recitation before or after it was assigned B.) Is not on the final and completely unrelated to the scope of the course AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Im not really into economics but he made the lectures interesting and easy to understand for people that have trouble understanding Econ. The homework is unnecessary, it just feels like busy work. The class only has two exams. However, he posts a review before each exam which has very similar questions to the actual exam. Just go to class.
He was knowledgeable but not a great teacher. Lectures were boring and hard to follow. Felt like some things were presented as more confusing than they needed to be. Avoid if you can.
Hewitt comes across as a laid back teacher who's class isn't that difficult. I went to every class and thought I knew what he was teaching about.Your final grade is mostly determined by the midterm and final, both of which were way harder than what he was teaching in class. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Professor Hewitt assigns so many homeworks a week which is nice but it really comes down to the final and midterm. I am about to take the final and I am shaking because I know I am going to fail. He expects you to know 25 equations and a whole list of topics that were hardly reviewed. Just not a good class avoid at all costs not worth it.
Pros: He relates the lectures to today's economy, and the stuff on the tests are stuff covered in lectures. People say his classes are hard but Econ 0110 with him was my easiest class this semester, especially since his tests are curved. Plan to study a little though Cons: HW often has nothing to do with the lectures and involves a lot of reading.
This class was very difficult. The homework has nothing to do with the exams. If you fail the midterm or final you fail the course. The exams also try to trip you up. I would avoid. Friends have taken other professors and has a better time.
I think these ratings are a little harsh, professor Hewitt is a great choice for macro if you are willing to put in the work to get an A. His tests are all open ended, and only covered things we went over in lecture. When studying for his exams focus mainly on the things he lectures on and not individual things in the homework and you should be ok
Meh. The lectures aren't great, and homework is pandering, time-consuming, and uninvolved in coursework. You spend the whole semester working through basically two different economic models. There's only a midterm and a final, which makes the class more stressful than it needs to be. Classes like this are why people stay away from big lectures.
Professor Hewitt was a horrible teacher. His lectures were very fast-paced and he made you pay a decent amount of money to access the homework, which didn't correlate at all with the second semester. He only gives a midterm and final so you have to do decently well on both to get a good grade in the class. The homework wasn't bad just time consuming
Dr. Hewitt is a decent professor. His homework doesn't correlate with the lecture material and you have to technically read the entire textbook to do the hw, which has a negligible impact on your grade. He moves very quickly through the lecture material. There is only 1 midterm and 1 final, which basically determines your grade.
avoid avoid avoid. this class is makes you spend money on meaningless homework while during class you focus on 30+ different graphs you must know before the final. nothing definition based. only has a final and midterm that determines your whole grade. he is knowledgeable but lazy
Professor Hewitt is a perfect example of an average professor. He gives homework that doesn't really help, no tests besides the final and midterm, and hosts pretty boring lectures. It also doesn't help that this was the first time I was in a lecture with 270 people, making it hard for him to go into depth with concepts.
I thought he was a decent professor, but nothing outstanding. I mainly learned the concepts through the online homework modules he would assign to us, along with the recitations. Especially the ISLM ASAD stuff, I found it hard to follow along in a big lecture hall. Not a bad professor but I'd try and take the course with someone more thorough.
Very doable class if you keep up with the homework (due every class) and go to every lecture. The lectures should not be skipped-- he does not record them or post what was discussed. The recitations a bit boring but will definitely help your understanding of the topics.
Hewitt was very nice and approachable. Always willing to help and answer any questions I had. Open to adjusting my grades. The only downside to the class was that the homework assignments did not seem to correlate with the material covered in class. Take this class if you are interested in Economics, if you are not, it may be boring for you.
I liked Professor Hewitt. He does assign a lot of homework but I found it to be easy. He doesn't do any quizzes or tests, just a midterm and a final, which will kill your grade if you do bad on them. I found the recitation for his class to be pretty helpful. However, in order to succeed you must read the textbook and participate in lecture/rec.
David was a good professor, but you should try to sit up front because it is hard to see his writing sometimes. A lot of homework and he is lecture heavy. Study hard for the exam and final, just doing the homework isn't enough. He curved our exam because a lot of students had to stay behind to finish.
Hewitt has consistently demonstrated a level of narcissism and lack of care that is genuinely abhorrent, especially considering the heavy emphasis he applies to your few tests. While it's expected for introduction economics to be a bit of a learning curve, Hewitt refuses to help students in any meaningful way, instead opting to provide nothing.
Please note that the material covered in lectures may differ from the homework assignments, which may pose a challenge for some students. While there are no recorded lectures, the course does entail a significant amount of homework, and the final exam is condensed into a two-hour period.
Professor Hewitt's lectures are pretty useless. You will never be tested on material that's on the homework, which I would be fine with I guess if I didn't pay 40 dollars for homework program. Exams are graded pretty strictly, and there are too many questions on them to take in 50 minutes.
David is very unorganized and will make the grading for the midterms super confusing. the homework are very time-consuming and unrelated to the lectures/what is going to be on the exam. If you took micro before this you should be ok for the first half of the course. the exams are heavy on graphs.
My biggest problem is that the final is 35% of your grade which is extreme especially since all midterms haven't had good averages. His exams are the hardest part, and he makes it clear he doesn't want anyone to have over 100% in the class. Homework's average is 100% and its 25% of the grade which is good. I would say he needs to be more organized.
David was not by any means a bad experience. However, his lectures can drone on and he is hard to get a hold of outside of class, since he only does virtual office hours. Posts good study guides for tests and is clear about what is on them. My suggestion is to take Intro to Micro before this class as the first test was all Micro review.
First, off there is a lot of homework and most of it you never see again. The exams are a bit extreme. In intro to micro it was all multiple choice. Here you need to remember draw every graph under the sun. Also the stuff at the end is kind of ridiculous for an intro class. Even our TA said "I have never seen this taught before at an intro level."
Truly I feel professor Hewitt means well, however I do not find it fair that the students need to fix the errors of a test that the professor prepared. (Exam 1,2 and the final exam had mistakes on it.) So do be cautious when thinking of taking this professor. Homework isn't bad at all, and his teaching style isn't bad. He just makes tests confusing
Overhated but I have my complaints. Always problems we had to fix on exams. 2nd midterm almost nobody finished. Go to class because notes are only on board. Lots of hw but it's just completion. Final portion of class was so hard on final. Said he would replace low exam score if final was better. Plays funny videos before class. Wants you to do well
Professor Hewitt doesn't deserve as much hate as he is receiving. There were mistakes on his tests, which was annoying, but the tests were extremely straight forward and he does not try to trick you. Know the study guide inside and you'll be okay. Definitely a difficult course but it's definitely doable if you go to lectures.
Lectures were boring but very crucial to passing the class and there were very little assignments. The textbook material is not tested on but there are online assignments to complete for it. His lectures are off topic a lot and he complains about being behind even though he is the one in charge. If you study and go to lecture, you should be fine.
Much more conceptual than micro. Hewitt is a good teacher. You should go to all classes and recitations as its very easy to fall back if you dont and very hard to recover--not the best class to rely on studying for. Two midterms and one final and then a bunch of multiple choice homework thats time consuming and doesnt really apply to the course.
There were always mistakes on tests that we had to correct mid test which was kind of annoying. The homework always is very time consuming and doesn't relate to the class after the first midterm. 2 midterms and one final. Going to recitations is very helpful the slides there make more sense than lecture. His lectures usually don't ever help.
He's not the greatest but definitely not the worst. You have to go to class to understand what's happening. Macro itself is an easy class, but the second half is way harder than the first. Exams are all graphs and short answer. HW does not line up with class. Not an easy A but if you put a little effort in it's fine.
Lectures are very disorganized and do not coincide with homework. Homework is for completion and 25% of your grade. There's 2 midterms (30% of your grade) and a final (worth 35% of your grade). Take intro to micro first for sure, the first half of the semester was micro review. Go to class (sit in front) he writes on the board and there's no slides
Macroeconomics is a hard subject to teach and while fairly disorganized, David taught it well. He is kind of awkward but very knowledgeable on everything he teaches. There are two midterms (15% each) and one final (30%) and they are difficult. However, he truly wants his students to succeed and makes easy completion based homework 25% of the grade.
I only went to a few lectures for the semester cause you can kind of teach yourself with the online homework he assigns. When I did go, he was pretty engaging, and he was nice in the emails he sent out. The midterms and final had some tricky questions, so if you're not the best test taker I might look elsewhere.
He will ruin your gpa. Lectures were lackluster and he taught us graphs by verbally speaking of them. Tests weren't like what he taught. Do not take.
Never let this man within 5 miles of a university.
The best Econ prof! Everything he puts on the exams is fair and easy if you go to lecture. Took his courses twice and got high grades every times. Really love him.
Dr. Hewitt is a respectful professor! As long as you understand the problems in homework, you'll be fine with the exams. However, if you take Game Theory, I highly suggest you go to the lectures all the time since related material can't be found from online sources, the notes will be the only available material when you do HW.
Take this warning and do not take his class. He makes you pay $45 for homework that has nothing to do with the class and is very tedious. Also, his tests are so horribly worded and gives you 50 minutes to finish a test that would take most people over an hour. I barely finished the exams. Just wait and take macro with the other teacher.
Idk why he gets hate, I love him! He's super engaging during lectures and explains things very simply. HW is a little annoying. He's also weird about technology, if you want to take notes online you have to sit on the left or right of the room. His exams were fair, and he gives a lot of resources to prepare with. I recommend for macro!
The expectations are clear, and paying attention with a little bit of studying will get you an A. Good guy and sometimes is kinda funny
I think he is very underrated. Took him for game theory and taking him for macro right now. Tests are not easy but he is a very fair grader and is always giving extra points. Go to class and pay attention and you will be more than fun. Great guy and will always help in office hours.
Easily the worst prof I have ever taken. Disorganized lectures and very uncooperative with student's schedules.
He uses a tiny, illegible whiteboard and speaks in letters. Study resources are chaotic and make no sense. Expensive homework offers little help. Tests are terribly worded. Turns a simple class into a stressful nightmare. David Hewitt is a chaotic cornball who would fail to teach someone how to pour a bowl of cereal. Do not take at all ever.
No PowerPoints during class and just yaps for an hour. The homework, which you also have to pay $50 for, doesn't reflect exam material at ALL, and the exams are extremely heavy on your grade. His exams are confusing and unclear in instruction and he constantly has "errors" on them that he makes the students fix. Won't take a class with him again.
David is nice and knowledgeable, but he made this class very hard. The two midterms were difficult, and he was constantly fixing errors/issues during testing. The final was challenging and worth 30%. The homework is easy, but not helpful for exams. He doesn't use PowerPoint, just the whiteboard, so sit close or takes pictures.
Very nice guy but lectures are rambling. Textbook readings and homeworks almost never line up with what is being taught in lecture; tests are mostly on what is taught in lecture. Don't get overconfident and treat this as a micro review! Somehow lots of rote memorization required with equations and graphing. Would not take again.
Definitely would not take this class as a gen ed. Spends the entire lecture drawing graphs and it's sometimes hard to keep up with. Homework is not useful for exams, but gives you an easy 100%. Exams are really difficult, but he gives ample study materials. Just go to lectures and recs, and probably study a lot and you'll do fine.
I loved Professor Hewitt! I thought he did an amazing job teaching this class. The lectures made complete sense and the exams were easy. All you have to do is STUDY for them. Econ in general is not supposed to be an easy topic but with preparation this class becomes a piece of cake!
CHALLENGING but rewarding class. 2 midterms and final were difficult and 70% of your grade so a lot of studying needed. Luckily Hewitt gave great study resources. Great class for an Econ major, would maybe not take if you aren't one. He doesn't really have anything on Canvas and the textbook doesn't line up so it's important to go to class.
The lectures are extremely confusing as he draws a graph on the board and then explains it so taking notes is nearly impossible. But he gives great review material for all 3 exams. Also grades on easy homework but too much is given in a week along with recitation. Interesting guy just bad prof but you can get an ok grade if you use his material.
don't skip class or you'll get lost very quickly
Challenging but doable with the right study tools. The lectures can be confusing, but using unstuck AI alongside the provided materials helped me stay on top of the content. Definitely attend class and review sessions.
wld not recommend david to anyone. his lectures were uninteresting and he didnt have slideshows / didnt post content for students to follow along with. quite literally just stood and talked, which would maybe be a little more bearable if he had a microphone so we could actually hear him.
I want to preface that I took this class as someone who doesn't have much of a background in economics but is interested in game theory. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE SOMEONE IN THE SAME BOAT. This professor moves extremely fast, and you need some knowledge of calculus and derivatives to do well, even if he says you only need algebra knowledge.
exam r reflections of hw&lec.only cares abt answer(hw&exam).slight curve&ec.weird TA takes pts off when u dont submit hw in proper format even tho answers are correct? go to lec, listen, follow, take notes and u should be fine as long as u know basic logic and math, Im not an econ major and only took micro before this
Not too bad. Exams very similar to hwks. Hard to do the hwks if you dont pay attention in class. But overall an ok professor.
Very fast-paced. All lectures are handwritten on a whiteboard, so there are no slides to look at. But, he does offer some old notes to review on Canvas. You need basic algebra knowledge, which is to find x for the most part. Can't skip class or you'll miss out on content and won't be able to find answers easily online. Curves slightly at the end.
