he is a really nice teacher, I took his anthro lab class and he really cares about his students def I would take his cultural anthro class!
He's one of my fav teachers!
He's a really nice teacher he gives extra credit! Take him
I'm taking his anthropology 101 class and he's awesome! A lot of note taking, extra credit, gives study guides to quizzes and exams!
lucky for others, but he wasnt helpful to everyone only to some. funny in class but not the best prof to go to in person. does not consider other answers at all if its not what he wants and doesnt even bother listening explanation when he got it wrong. lecture are not very organized
Professor Jacobsen is by far the best professor I have ever had. He gives study guides to all his quizzes and exams which really helps. You don't need to read the textbook as long as you take good notes in class. He makes his lectures interesting and always gives extra credit. This class is an easy A.
Amazing professor. The material seems intimidating but he is so good at teaching that you learn everything quickly and easily. Really open, helpful, and fun. His power points and lectures will never leave you bored. Every other slide is usually hilarious and he's really into make his class entertaining. I learned so much here and he was so helpful!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had the pleasure to take! He is incredibly funny and makes lectures engaging, interesting, and funny. He's super laid back and cares about his students and the subject with incredible passion. Don't overlook him, and let this incredible learning opportunity go to waste. Take him, you wont regret it!
I have had many good professors and he is definitely my favorite. He tells hilarious stories that make me laugh like I never have, but still gets to all the information and makes it memorable. His slideshows are works of art, and he's excellent at lecturing. The class is very hands on, and honestly the only class I could take for 3 hours at 9 am
Gives a ton of extra credit, lectures are worth it! Gives study guides to all tests and quizzes. Even gives some of the answers to questions before any test or quiz! And also funny and admires the field of anthropology so much! Highly recommend this class for science requirement! You won't regret taking him. Best professor by far.
One of the best professors here on campus. Super engaged with the subject / material. Super hilarious but gets sidetracked with his stories about his fiancé.... overall great professor.
Prof. Jacobsen has been one of my favorites. He genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about the subject material. He's easily approachable and will help you with anything, even if it's not class-related. Does go off on tangents, but even then, they are interesting and fun. Gives good feedback. Loved this class and loved him
Professor Jacobsen is great! One of the greatest teacher's I've had here at Fullerton College. He really cares about his students and makes the class extremely fun and interesting. He always gives out extra credit, and as long as you come to class, do your work, you'll pass with a "A". I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is taking Anthro
Prof. Jacobsen is amazing as everyone else has mentioned. You really wont regret taking his class.
Nicest professor ever! He cares so much about his students & will write letters of recommendation if you need one. His lectures are very engaging. Study the study guides & take good notes, you'll be fine.
He had me full belly laughing, which almost never happens. He can be tough but honestly its pretty hard to pass the class with less than a B. Strict but funny, very engaging, always wore a fancy vest and tie and tells memorable stories.
Honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. I wish I could just take all of his classes
Best professor I've had at FJC. I never rate anyone but man David changed my life. He is hilarious and shows pride in his work. I took his cultural and bio anthropology. Show up and do your HW and test and you should be fine. Study guides are straight forward. PowerPoint's are the best.
I have been at fullerton college for two years now. i need a science to pass so i took bio and dropped out, took anthro with another teacher, dropped out. took jacobsen's lab, he was a perfect teacher so i took lecture with him this semester. quiz and tests are easy. he gives a study guide that is straight forward. few hw assignments. GREAT PROF!
His class was really fun and lectures were interesting. He's funny and makes learning anthropology not so boring. You do have to read, come to class, do your work to pass, but he also gives quite a bit of extra credit opportunities so it really helps boost your grade when you need it !
Here's a professor who actually looks out for his students and WANTS them to pass with A+++. Jacobsen is amazing. He makes learning seem like a breeze, and if you get in his class, consider yourself lucky. It's one eventful experience, and his lectures are AMAZING. Slides, super cool. He's open and kind, and he def shows tough love, it's admirable.
Jacobsen is such an amazing professor! He truly cares about his students and wants everybody to pass. He throws out quite a few extra credit so take advantage. His classes get full fast because he's in high demand so you're lucky if you're in his class. He had so many awesome stories to tell and makes the course much more interesting than it is.
great professor
Professor Jacobsen is hands down THE BEST prof. at Fullerton College. I have been there for two years, and I have never met another teacher who was as caring and kind (and hilarious as an added bonus) as he was. I don't think you'd ever come across a prof. like him again. Definitely take his class if you have the chance. You won't regret it!
Professor Jacobsen! Wow! Such an AMAZING guy and prof. I just graduated from Fullerton College & needed my second science requirement completed by this summer. I got lucky to have PROF Jacobsen ! You will maybe never meet another Prof like him, he truly cares about his students and pushes the class to get A's. (: He's hilarious, easy, TAKE HIM (:
I commented this last comment for his lecture, and now about his lab. Again Jacobsen in the Summer was fast pace because it is summer, yet he was the BEST! pushed us all to aim for A's and B's. ALSO GIVES TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT! DO THEM! He's an amazing professor, just do your study guides. He'll even go over it with you. He's the best, TAKE HIM!!(:
You don't find a professor like this just anywhere! He is very motivating and always keeps class interesting. Very passionate for both student success in his class and for the subject he teaches. Offers many opportunities for extra credit. Great lectures and gifs on almost every slide to lighten up the class. Definitely recommend him.
Take this man's class.
Awesome class and awesome professor. Quite possibly the best professor ive ever had. He teaches you all the material and you are not surprised by anthing. He is the "bone guy" and you will learn so much! Class consisted of 2 quizzes, short research paper and final. Do one lab everyday in class, very easy and a must take class!
Take him!! He is amazing! He defiantly wants you to succeed so just do all the work and youll do great! He offers extra credit which will help towards the end. You work in groups for the labs so at least one person should have the book. He is always there to help so the labs will not break you. You will not regret taking him!
I took Professor Jacobsen for Anthro Lab and loved it. His lectures are amazing and he makes sure that you pass with an A. He really cares about his students. I really enjoyed his class and have learned quite a few things.
He is the best professor and I am willing to bet 100 dollars! He is intelligent, open-minded, extremely aware of his surroundings and his level of perception is astounding. His kindness is on a whole new level. Trust me, take his class. He makes everything fun, interesting, and he knows how students have a hard time with money/time/life.
I had him for cultural anthro. and he was one of the best professors I've ever had at FJC. Really passionate about what he teaches and very caring of his students. Lots of extra credit opportunities if you show up to class, and a fun research paper.
I took Prof. Jacobsen during Fall 2017 for ANTH101L & truly found him caring, entertaining & overall genuine. He wants to make sure you succeed & will go out of his way for you. His lectures are entertaining along with his personal stories. Extra credit opportunities are available. I took Prof. Mort for lecture & came to love Anthro due to them.
I took Professor Jacobsen for ANTH101 and I have never loved a class/professor more in my two years of college. He makes you want to attend his class and learn more about the subject, ive come to LOVE anthropology thanks to him. He is so kind, funny and truly cares about every single one of his students. TAKE HIS CLASS!
You got two midterms, one final, three quizzes, and one research paper. All the exams/quizzes have a study guide which makes getting an A easy if you take the time to memorize them. The research paper is also extremely easy, majority of my class got an A on it. He's got amazing stories, writes L.O.R. for ANY student, and is all around a great guy.
Hes the best.
Take him. You will not regret!
Down to my final semester at Fullerton College before transferring out and I'm glad I got to end it with this man. He's the best professor I've had. Truly cares about his students success and to top it off he's hilarious. You will not regret taking him, 10/10 recommend.
This professor deserves Teacher of the year! He is such an incredible professor to have. He is like a saint to me and his students. He truly puts his heart out for his students. No doubt take this man for lecture and with lab if you haven't yet! You will be amazed by how awesome he is! I won't forget his advice on marriage lol ;) TAKE HIM!
He is a great guy and he is hilarious most of the time. I also do recommend you take him concurrently with lab (if you take him for lecture) He is funny the first day I met him and is a very welcoming guy! You won't even regret taking him for lecture and lab!
From a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give him 100. TAKE HIM no questions
Professor Jacobsen is very passionate about his subject and he makes learning fun. You definitely need the book to participate in labs and he gives extra credit. If you miss a class, he gives opportunities to attend another class on a different day. He is a great story teller and has great tips to remember terms. Put in the work, and you will pass.
He is the best teacher Ive ever had at Fullerton College!!!!! Shows he's passionate about the subject he teaches unlike other teachers. Take notes and show up to class, study his study guides and you will pass easily.
One of the best professors at Fullerton, if you have the chance to take him, do it and you won't regret it. Lectures are hilarious and he always has a joke to make about whatever you're discussing. He understands what college students have to deal with and wants to make the course as easy as possible. Lots of extra credit. Each class is always fun
I see you scrolling. I know that you're contemplating on whether or not if you should take his class. Well, let me keep it simple and tell you this: "Just take him, he's an amazing professor."
Jacobsen's lectures provide a lot of information and he is definitely entertaining. However, I recommend taking an aspirin/ibuprofen before class he is LOUD! His powerpoint have very loud sound effects. to the point that other professors have to ask him to turn it down. He is very easily distracted from lecture and will talk about random stuff.
Professor Jacobsen is such an amazing person. He is super sweet, understanding and hilarious. I'm currently talking his lecture course along with his lab and wow I'm so glad that I've got the chance to take his class. He not only cares about his students, but is very passionate about the subject which I think is great. Definitely take him!!!!!!!!!!
really great prof. He is a great person and he really cares for his students. He gives great lectures and all you need to do is do all the work he gives, study his study guides. very easy going but you would need to study for his class. He gives extra credits! His class is very fun but can turn into story time. you'll def get used to it though.
Professor Jacobsen is an amazing teacher. He genuinely cares about students and wants you to succeed. He gives study guides and extra credit. If you study the notes you will get an A on tests and quizzes. He is hilarious and always makes lecture fun and exciting with his random funny stories. I highly recommend you take him.
This guy is straight rad. If you want to actually learn about the subject you will get what you want. If you are looking for a class to just get by you will also get what you want. He finds ways to help you memorize his stuff. Also dude is funny which helps. Take this guy if given the option
Professor Jacobsen was great. I took his class for anthropology lab , I had a morning class but he puts a lot of effort on his presentations so its easy to stay awake and listen . Take him you wont regret it !!!
You will not regret taking this class. He somehow remembers almost everyones name and makes class feel like a family. Strict when he needs to be, but will always answer questions and try to help whenever he can. Probably one of the most Inspiring professors Ive had. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Took him for the lecture and lab. The materials could be difficult for non-science major, but the professor gives simple definitions/explanations to us. He provides study guide, which 90% similar like the test. Extra credit will come out randomly, so just prepare! The only complain is he sometimes goes off the topic. Book needed for the lab
I love Jacobsen! He made a three hour class fly by because his lectures where very entertaining. He cares about his students success! I loved his class!! He posts study guides and you need to attend class to get credit for the labs!
Professor Jacobsen is the best professor i've had so far. He cares about his students wants everyone to pass. His quizzes are not difficult they are just like the study guide he only gives out 2 and one final exam, which was not difficult, you just have to study. I learned a lot from this class is was so fun ! Wish he had more classes :(
I took Anthropology lab with him fall semester. I HAD NO IDEA about anthropology, but his lecture was so clear and easy to understand. He gave us many extra questions during the class, so don't miss the classes! There was not much homework. And He will give you a study guide before the exams, many of the questions are on the study guide, BE READY!
Prof. Jacobsen is a great professor. His humor makes his class a lot of fun. The labs are interesting but since we went online that part sucks and is nonexistent. This is a great class.
This Professor is awesome... Super informative and actually makes learning fun. I had him for lab class and he makes it interesting and funny. The book is really inexpensive and can be found via PDF. He gives good information so takes notes and you'll do fine.
I dreaded the thought of anthropology but Jacobsen actually made it fun. He gives great lectures and will tell you exactly whats on the test. Easy grader and tests will never come as a surprise. If you show up and copy PowerPoint thats all you need to pass. Hes funny and genuinely cares for his students. Super understanding if you need help
Best professor I have taken at Fullerton so far. Seriously amazing lectures, makes the subject fun and understandable. He is HILARIOUS and professional. He is so great at what he does, I am a huge fan. Tells funny stories and the class is super passable if you do your work!
This professor is so amazing! He's been super helpful to everyone. He's always ready to help and guide you with anything. Please take his class!! He's super understanding. Yeah, there is a lot of work but it's within reason and he just wants you to learn! Love!!
Better ANTH teacher than other professors at Fullerton, and had far less homework. Effective powerpoints, objective grading, clear criteria. Even if you're an anthropology major and want a harder class, take his class but spend more time studying. It's an easy A, but his materials are much better than his peers and he's far more responsive.
I would have to say that he is one of the best Professors I have had. He is very kind and understanding. He is very strict about cheating so don't cheat. Read the book and Power-Points and you should be alright. He will help you with anything so don't be afraid to ask.
The online course was great. Quizzes were 15 minutes and 15 questions. That was the only part I did not like since the time limit was a bit stressful. However, use the PowerPoints and read the textbook. Professor Jacobson even wrote a letter of rec for me. Amazing professor.
Pretty easy professor. I think he's super strict about cheating so when you take a quiz, you don't get your score right away, you can't see what you got wrong/right. Those were def pet peeves. I think the final exam/midterm had a lot of time but the weekly quizzes were kinda stressful. I did like how there were no videos, just powerpoints.
This class was super enjoyable and came with a lot of extra credit opportunities. The workload was not too heavy, but it also forced me to really understand the topics. The lecture slides were very well organized and they provided a lot of very well curated knowledge. Prof Jacobsen was great and very kind, one of my favorite professors so far!
I Don't recommended his Lecter at all i don't know why people rate him 5 ,But i recommended to check different instructor before you select him.
His class is always easy to out of the slot, which let me try to take him. When I take him, I realize that doesn't like my imagination. He is harder than I thought and we have a big project about animals. I took him in Fall 2021.
Summer 2022, Pof Jacobsen is by far an awsome caring easy to talk to professor. He is accomidating to his students. The class involves alot of work reading , quizzes test and 1 research paper. He is very clear how he introduces the suject and makes it fun. He also makes himself avaliiable for all his students I would take his class agian :)!!
I took this class spring 2022. I learn more than I thought I would about this class. The professor made it fun and interesting. He is very ingaging and cares about his students so i urge you reach out if you are doing an online class because he will serve you.Prepare for test quizzes reading 1research paper. Prof j is AWSOME! I will take it again:)
Incredible professor, very understanding and you can definitely pass his class if you care about it. Lectures are never boring. Labs are definitely designed so you learn the material. He's a fair grader and will help you if you ask.
Professor Jacobsen is the best take him if you can! Class consists of labs, 1 paper, 2 quizzes, final exam, and ec. His lectures are amazing and truly cares about his students. He makes class fun and interesting with his lectures. By far the best professor at FJC.
Class usually lasted about ~2 hours (class is supposed to run for 3). Lecture of the chapter at the start of each class along with a corresponding lab. Little to no homework and 2 quizzes and a final exam, all of which were fairly easy, as well as a 5 page research paper. Easy A if you go to the classes, where he gives lots of extra credit.
I have 15 straight A's. This is my 1st B+. Tests are extremely hard. Multiple choice Qs have 6 options including "all of the above." Each option is long and confusing. True/false Qs trip you up with "False, True" then "True, False." Study guides list 150 topics. Extra credit is like 6 points. Final is cumulative. Prof is nice, but I hated this.
If you are okay with reading a lot of material, take him. You would have to read one chapter and one lecture slide every week. And the tests are super hard. Poorly worded, and asks about super detailed things.
This course was definitely challenging and there were a good amount of quizzes which your grade heavily relies on! You only get 15 minutes for 15 questions. There was one paper, a research paper on a primate of your choosing based on a list he provides. The final was extremely difficult, you need to study. Overall, he was very nice and helpful!
Overall Professor Jacobsen is a great professor. He is willing to help whenever asked and will accommodate any schedule to get you the help you need. The slides are more important than the textbook imo. The quizzes and tests are hard, and you are given a very short time to do them. You have to know the material to pass, study the slides!
One of the absolute best professors I've ever had. He makes lectures so much fun and always throws in funny jokes to keep you up and participating.
All the labs are easy as you just use the slides/textbook to answer the questions, and quizzes are easy as long as you look at the given study guide for them. A 5-page research paper is a big part of your grade but is really easy to do. Tons of easy extra credit and all the questions were really easy.
"WE'RE ALL GONNA DO IT" -Jacobsen 2023. I'm going to miss this professor the most. My last semester here at FC, and he made it the best way possible. Hands down the best professor I ever had. His lab was the opposite from boring, if anything, he made it fun to learn. Very easy class in my opinion. Tons of extra credit.
Professor Jacobsen is one of the best professors here at FC. He is an outgoing professor who cares for his students. I took him for the Honors section so it may be different than his other sections but this class consisted of weekly readings, weekly quizzes, lecture slides, and one research paper. Take him! I wish I could take this class again :(
Professor Jacobsen answers emails quickly and gives great feedback on all assignments. There is a PowerPoint every week (usually 40+ slides), along with a chapter reading and quiz. You are given 15 minutes to answer 15 questions, so prepare before taking all quizzes. If you are willing to put in the work, you will pass the class.
Amazing professor, you will not regret taking a course with him. I took ANTH101HF since it was honors, he only teaches the first 3 chapters or so then its up to students to present the other chapters. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal to me but because he is such a fantastic professor I would have loved to see him teach all chapters.
Fantastic professor, I took ANTH101 Honors. The honors portion is that he only teaches the first 3 chapters then students present the rest. Normally this would not be a big deal, but because he was such a fantastic professor, I felt like I missed out on his lectures. I would love to see the honors portion come from somewhere else. Take his class.
He is absolutely amazing! I was very stressed my semester due to my overbearing work/school load, however, he was so accommodating and inspirational to do better:')Of course, if you have an F he won't just raise the grade to pass but he offers an extreme amount of extra credit, is always available to talk, and helps push you in the right direction!
Great lectures, though he has the tendency to get sidetracked. The whole lab portion of the class is group work for those that would rather not. Great professor, I would definitely recommend taking
Very quick to reply to messages and accessible outside of class. Gives good feedback and is enthusiastic about teaching and makes it fun. Does his very best to help you and relates to students. Very strict on cheating, so don't even try!
He is amazing, and super smart and kind soul who really wants to teach and be of service. He loves his work, his field and his wife. He goes out of his way for students. I wanted to take all his classes. He's cool and funny. You will love his classes, his material is difficult but take time to study.
I really enjoyed this class, it was very organized and clear. The professor is really understanding and cares a lot about his students. Class is simple and easy just study for the quizzes. Offers a lot of extra credit !
He makes the class ENJOYABLE. He is funny and genuinely cares about his students. I actually learned a lot in his class and would take Anthropology a million times over if he was my teacher (I HATE anthropology lol). Do the assignments, participate in class, and you should 100% get an A
He was really understanding and a nice guy I really recommend him.
Amazing professor!
Great prof!
I would not take this class again. It's extremely material heavy with 1-2 quizzes a week which are 15pts each, discussion questions, chapter reading, research paper, & Powerpoints are on average 40 pages long, and 2 mid-terms. He gives extra credit but it doesn't make a big difference as it's either half a point or 1pt. He's very nice though.
Literally the BEST professor I've ever had--especially since the lab is light on material. His lectures are energetic and engaging, and often times he'll share crazy life stories while expanding on a concept. (It's a miracle he's still alive with all the stories!) Very straightforward and clear with help when you ask.
Prof Jacobsen is awesome! He truly cares about his job and is very passionate about anthropology. His lectures are very interesting and he really cares about the success of each and every stuent. 10/10 would take another class with him.
"Professor Jacobsen is an amazing teacher! He has a great personality - he's funny, intellectual, and passionate about anthropology and the human skeleton. His lectures are enjoyable and filled with funny stories. He's a fantastic communicator, so don't hesitate to reach out to him if you miss a class or have an emergency. Study for the final.
An amazing professor. Had an amazing time in his class and would definitely take the professor again.
Professor Jacobson was hands down one of the best professors I took. He is one of those professors who truly cares about all his students and wants them to actually succeed. Each lecture was entertaining but also very educational. I learned a lot just for a 1 unit class. The only thing I can warn you about is don't even try to cheat.10/10 professor
As a winter session, it's complicated by that factor alone. However, the class was well-structured and very clear. He gives very precise feedback on your work. It starts off fairly lenient but then goes lecture/chapter-heavy. Get ready to do work! He's a great prof overall who's actually enthusiastic about his class.
Professor Jacobsen is amazing & awesome!! I took both the lecture & lab this winter term. I loved them both & got As in both! Work hard, ask for help, & do your best & you will do great. The class structure is simple & straightforward. He is very caring & compassionate & wants you to succeed in class and in life. Take both classes with him!!!
Professor Jacobsen is awesome & amazing!! I took both the lecture & lab this winter, loved them & got As in both! It was doable. He is very communicative, caring & compassionate, & wants you to succeed in class & life! Work hard, do your best, ask for help, & you'll do great. The structure is simple & straightforward. Take both classes with him!!
Professor Jacobsen is a professor that is strict on cheating. Please do not cheat or try to! He cares for his students, one tip for upcoming students who are on the fence of joining his class. It is to go to his office hours, if you show up and show you care about your grade, he will help you in any way he can (of course within his limits).
The best professor at FC!
Professor Jacobsen is cool, approachable, and down-to-earth. He cares about his students and their work. He also offers EC at random times so that helped me stay awake for his 8 AM class. He makes his lectures and lab engaging and understandable. Take some good notes and you'll make it through his class no problem.
15 question test with only 15 minutes to do them
Super funny teacher, very kind and makes learning fun.
I took Professor Jacobsen Summer 2024 and forgot to rate him but he is the best! He is always available when you need help and his material is easy as long as you just apply yourself and do the work.
I've had Professor Jacobsen for two courses so far, he always has a way of making the course material and lectures easily digestible and interesting! You can tell that he truly cares about his students, and is genuinely enthusiastic about anthropology. Definitely one of my favorite professors! 10/10
Professor Jacobsen is an engaging and passionate teacher. His lectures are interesting and he genuinely cares about student success. I found unstuck study to be a helpful tool for study prep alongside the textbook. Overall, a great class!
10/10!! He is so nice and genuinely caring. Message him if you feel stuck w the material, he wants to help. In my experience, I wish I took him in person because it is rare you find professors that want the success of their students. He offers EC so do it !! He does zooms so when you message him with a concern, section off time to meet with him
I took both his anthropology class and lab over the summer and I enjoyed it. Biology itself is not my strong suit, but Jacobsen made the class easier to learn through his lectures. He is also very understanding and truly cares about what he is teaching. As someone who does not love science, I highly recommend taking him.
A great example of what a teacher should be. Highly recommend.
I have had Jacobsen twice now and enjoyed his class, his lectures and slides are long and often filled with unnecessary over the top banter and stories that drowns out the class. He is a great professor but he tries to hard to be our friend, ALSO very anti AI, even for research purposes.
Prof. Jacobsen is easy going and a great professor. He is easy to get ahold of and very supportive. I took this class online along with his lab and he requires you to read a chapter a week from the textbook/lab book. Quizzes and exams are timed which makes it a little tricky. Great professor just be prepared to read and be timed for exams.
Jacobsen does not allow late work or assignments even if it is against the law. He overall is pretty decent at responding to emails and tries to be accommodating in other ways, but simply will give you no credit for late assignments and locks them as soon as it strikes midnight on the due date. Do not take his classes if you have any accommodations
Professor.Jacobsen is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is one of the rare few professors that shows that he genuinely cares for their students and their education. Lab's can be a bit difficult but he allows you to work with other students. Definitely would take again if I could and highly recommend!
Great professor! If you need a professor that will keep you engaged throughout the Anthro Lab this is your man. Be sure to have lined paper because he gives surprise extra credit like a dang pinata gives candy at a kid's birthday party. Be sure to read the chapter before the lab makes everything 100 times smoother. Definitely would recommend.
Professor Jacobsen is a very caring professor. I highly recommend taking him for both Anthropology Class and for lab. He's one of the few professor that truly cares for students. His lectures are very fun because he makes the class not boring. He literally sets the class so no one fails. Its an easy A and he truly loves teaching.
A very good professor who truly enjoys what he does. Lectures are amazing and engaging, he will throw in random extra credit during the lecture so you always have to be prepared with a pen and paper. Reading the text beforehand will help make everything you learn make sense. Class is only hard if you don't put in the work. 100% recommend best prof!
Took professor online for honors credit 3 units (winter session), provides weekly power points with 15 question quizzes due Sunday (timed), 1 research paper mla, discussions, timed final, accessible through zoom/office hours, for EC you have to guess what the image is and it must be right which is only one point he provides at least 8 of these.
Professor Jacobsen was nice and super straightforward about his grading criteria. I loved his class and his PowerPoints, and the way he taught made the labs fun. Not only that, his teaching style made me an active learner and made me look forward to his classes. Go take his classes!
I took ANTH101HF in the winter. Great professor but beware he is a VERY tough grader. Work consisted of discussion posts, quizzes, smaller HW quizzes, a midterm/final, and a few EC assignments at the end worth 1-2 points each. He gives good feedback on assignments but is extremely nitpicky with them and that is definitely reflected on your grades.
Prof. Jacobsen is the GOAT! His lab was so enjoyable and he was so energetic with his feedback. I was able to talk to him in office hours and he is a really cool guy. He does grade with high standard but is also very generous with the extra credit opportunities. Really made my summer enjoyable
I am bad at science so taking anthropology was my way out Jacobsen is great at teaching, making jokes, and giving credit. Best advice is to take his lab and lecture because he can help you. Quiz is now free response and multiple choice because someone got caught cheating which is a pain but he's easy nonetheless.
Has a lot of extra credit pop quizzes as he lectures. Easy to get an A but you need to be attentive to when the slide changes to a pop quiz. Easiest class I took and it was very fun. A lot of interesting stories and he is always helpful. If you are interested in forensics he knows a lot about that and will help you with that. 10/10 class, super fun
amazing professor so funny, lectures awesome. Has great stories, really cares about students.
That's probably the only class where you can truly learn anthropology, since it's a lab. He's a great professor funny, caring, and always willing to help his students.
I felt like I was in the third grade again. I loved this class and Jacobsen. He makes sure you are paying attention to his class with all of the pop up extra credit, it's almost traumatizing lol. Please take him if you are worried about anthropology being hard, I promise you it's not.
So to start this professor is very kind! He has plenty of simple extra credit opportunities. The class focuses on understanding the slides through multiple choice labs along with 2 quizzes a final and an essay. I will say if somehow your canvas messes up you could be accused of cheating when taking a quiz RESTART YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE. Good luck!
In this class, there are many extra credit opportunities. The only part I don't like is that the grades are hidden. The professor keeps his Excel file private and doesn't share it with students, so you usually only find out your grade in the middle of the semester and at the end of the semester.
