Awesome professor. Has props to explain ideas. Exams very fair and relevant to homework. Always anxious to teach, really cares about students learning. Very willing to teach extra if unable to attend class (tutor)
He was fair and helped out. Classes aren't easy but teaches well enough to make it feel like it is.
Incredible teacher...He really teaches you. Very helpful...some of the exams were tough, but not impossible...He's very fair and will take the time to help you.
nice guy. took over summer wasnt bad at all.
Excellent teacher tests are to the point. and he's not that boring
awesome teacher, willing to help students out, tests will check if you know your material, but he gives good hints in class

very friendly and explains things well
Anyone can understand what he is teaching. Problem is that he talks about the basic WAY too much. He spent half a period talking how door hindges work!!
Do your homework and you're fine. The lectures seem to take hours because he talks really really slow and he goes over the basics over and over again. He tries to be funny, but he usually fails. Overall it was easy...
Great teacher, if you can deal with him taking everything VERY slow. He makes statics almost too easy, I found it hard to pay attention and motivate myself to attend class.
HW problems can be quite difficult. Tests are much more manageable. He can be kind of a jerk sometimes, but it is an enjoyable jerkiness. He teaches the material quite well, if you can pay attention.
Taakkkkkeeesss eeevvvveeerryyyttthhhhiiinnnggg vvvvveeerrryyy sslllllllloooooowwwwww. Overall good teachers but alot of the times is slow and repeatitive. Tests are average on the easier side
Great teacher, but statics is a super easy class. He would probably be good to have for somthing harder too. Easy A.
this guys awesome. He's funny. he explains things well and his tests are challenging just because this is challenging stuff he's teaching, but they're not that bad. Cheers!
He really cares about the students. He's easy to understand, punctual, and fair.
He's very clear and hs tests are pretty easy, but he's getting older and slower and this is apparent when you visit his office hours.
Great Guy, Hes funny and the class is very straightforward. The tests come from HW, so if you do HW you will be fine
The worst professor I ever had. He has no respect for the students. He makes fun of you if you ask questions during class, and I don't think is because his age...he's just mean all the time. At some point, I will consider him ****. During his reviews, he will practice things that won't come on the exams...who does that!!! I won't recommend him.
Statics is a tough subject in general, and Jenkins certainly doesn't help. He assigns a lot of homework every day, but doing that homework is essential to passing his class. His lectures are basically useless and his exams unpredictable. I learned nearly everything reading the book on my own. Avoid him if you can.
I fell asleep in most of his classes. The lectures are pretty useless and so are his TAs.
He explains everything well, most of the time. He has been using statics for a LONG time, so sometimes he forgets that the subject is not intuitive to everyone else. I recommend going to his lectures (he explains the mechanics of tackling problems) and doing EVERY homework problem. If you can do all the homework, you can get 100% on the tests.
One of the best ENG Professors out there. He knows his stuff!! Attend class and pay attention to lectures and the material is a breeze. Tests are hard and You will have to study to do well but overall Jenkins rocks!!

Jenkins is a great professor. He knows what he is talking about. Go to class and do the homework, and this class is fairly easy.
-Fantastic prof. Tests are 90%, homework is 10%. Most of the homework is pretty easy if you go to class (and sometimes even if you dont). The tests are 3 questions each, and 1 comes *straight* from the homework. The other two are pretty similar to homework problems. No curveballs. Also, hes completely adorable and has lots of fantastic props :)
great
Explains the concepts very well.
Great professor. Test are just like the homework. Test are only three questions, but a lot of partial credit is given. if you do all the math wrong but has the concept, you get a really good grade in the test
First off - I love the picture, it's so hot. This class was pretty cool, he teaches it well. The exams aren't that bad either, they were usually easier than I expected. The only bad part is the grading structure; each exam question is worth 10% of your total grade-miss one, that's a letter grade lower. And ALL that homework only counts as 10%.
AMAZING professor! Kept class interesting with funny random stories. Always tried to get the class involved. If you pay attention in class you will get an A. 3 exams, with 3 questions each. Last exam you get 4 questions and you get to pick 3. You can make small cheat sheet which helps because he takes the EXACT problems from HW. HW due every class.
Great Professor. actually doing the homework will get you an A. copying the homework and reviewing it before tests will get you a B or C. going to class is essential in understanding concepts
Tests are easier than the homework. I never went to class and always copied the homework and still got a B because I messed up on one problem on a test. Yes, 3 problems per test, each test covers 3 chapters, and each test is 30% of your grade. So basically, each problem is 10% of your grade, you mess up on one, you drop a whole grade down.
exams are like most of the PE problems that he assigns for hw. he is a good professor. do your hw. don't copy them. it will prepare you for the exams!
Excellent, clear, thoughtful
Good at teaching and makes sure you understand the content. do homework without using solutions and you'll be fine.
He's completely hung up on people not working in groups and "cheating" by using the "illegal solutions manual." You'll lose over a letter grade if you don't label unused forces and he's very difficult to talk to. Homework is collected everyr day for a grade, but unfortunately he does know what he's talking about so going to class helps.

Had him for Mechanics of Materials. Simply one of the best courses I've ever taken.
Basically you get an A if you take the class with out the solutions manual. Don't expect him to answer your emails or be helpful OHs, better to see the TA's. Hard class to take only b/cthere are 3 questions in each of the 3 exams so each questions weighs heavily on your final grade and the TA's aren't very flexible with the partial credit.
Jenkins is terrible - if you already know the material. If you actually need to learn it, he's a good teacher, but he's obsessed with forcing you to do things his way, which is terrible, because it is bloated and if you dont use it, you'll lose points even if you clearly know the material. Only good thing is that HW is required. Weird, but helps.
As long as you do the homework on your own and understand it, you'll be ok since the test problems are almost identical to the homework problems.
Awesome Professor! Test are straight from notes and homework. Very clear lectures and notes.
Jenkins is a great teacher, and his class is pretty easy. The only bad thing is everything has to be done his way, but that flaw is nothing compared to the other teachers in the department.
Jenkins is great. Do what he says and do it his way and you won't have a problem. That includes doing homework by yourself, going to TA office hours instead of friends for help. Some sections of the course are not explained enough which is very frustrating. TA's don't even have answers sometimes.
One of the better profs. I've had so far. His lectures are usually somewhat entertaining and you can tell he actually cares what he is teaching. Just do the homework (which is required anyway) and understand it- don't just blindly copy from the solutions manual. You don't have to do things "his way" but whatever he teaches is usually the easier way
Really good professor, second time I had him now. He's really in his element teaching, class is also pretty easy, good format, fair exams, the hw keeps you on top always.
Great teacher, knows what he is talking about. Going to class is EXTREMELY helpful because he will give you clues and shortcuts which are not provided in the book. I did all the homework on my own (no solution manual) and got an A in the class.
Dr. Jenkins is very helpful and explains every subject in such a way to keep problems very simple, so simple that sometimes you do problems without thinking, like a robot. Tests are really really easy if you do ALL the HW AND understand them (solution manual sucks). One of the best teachers I've ever had.
This professor is one of the stars of Gator Engineering. Excellent! I had him for Undergrad Materials a long time ago. Don't remember the exact section.
Knows the material like his ABC's. Never made mistakes, pretty much solves the HW before assigning it, and is dadgum hilarious. Tests are similar to practice questions given. Skipping class is a mistake. 1-2 hours of HW 3 nights a week. The bizzare grading algorithm obfuscates the true value of HW: 0.33 pts each. Writes too small so sit up front.
Not very helpful, degrades students. Nitpicky.
I really dislike the way he treats his students. Very arrogant man. However, the lectures are fair and he goes slow. I would prefer someone else taught the course but you have no other choice.. for now
I had Jenkins for Statics and Mechanics of Materials. His exams are 3 questions each so you can't really screw up anything. However, his grading is usually pretty fair and he doesn't try to trick you with the material. Everything about the subject is covered in lecture so GO! Very good at explaining everything probably one of the best profs at UF
Jenkins is probably the best professor I've had at UF. Explains things very clearly the first time. His classes aren't easy, but definitely fair. GO TO CLASS!! If you don't go to class you will fail. Everything on the exams is clearly gone over in class.
Dr JERKins is by far the most disrespectful professor toward students in the university . Attend lectures and do the hw. He won't help you because every question you ask is stupid according to him.
Best teacher I have ever had! I would let him calculate my bending moment any day of the week. ;)
Statics has been one of my favorite classes so far, and Jenkins is a great teacher. He is a little eccentric, but he knows his stuff. Going to class is key to getting an A because Jenkins will explain very in depth the concepts you need to know for the test and will work practice problems that will show up on the exam. Do all the homeworks too.
he is useless and likes to give out c- to students for fun (which is not passing) will not correct blatant errors made by the TAs. If a question is not done his way he will nitpick to remove as many points as he can. half off a test question when i got the correct answer for example.
Very good use props in class to explain how things work. for the tests ALWAYS DO A FREE BODY DIAGRAM!! If not you will lose 75% of the points as I found out. Also he likes to put questions from the homework that isn't collected. Overall a good teacher, but everything he asks is so specific that if you do not know everything you will fail.
He is very clear, but very tense and very arrogant man. He follows the book as a bible, but he proposes his own methods (very useful). Test and grades are very fair....he usually asks for problems from the book that are not collected for homework. He is a good professor overall
If you ask dumb questions or something he's already answered, he'll let you know! Seems kind of rude but I think its just his humor. He shows his own way to do some things and it's usually always easier than the book so GO TO CLASS. Exams were difficult, but not horrible. GO TO CLASS and do the HW (dont copy from solutions) and you should be fine.
Horrible, Find other professor. Shows the easy way to do things than test you on stuff he said he wouldn't. Not a cool guy!
Great instructor. His in-class teaching methods are great, as are his stories, and he's genuinely interested in his students learning. He essentially told us everything that would be on the final (the exact problem), and his tests/grading are EXTREMELY fair.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He really makes you feel like an engineer. Go to class and do the HW! He's currently in my top 5 favorite people at UF.
I attended every lecture, fully understood every homework but did horrible on the tests. 2 out of the 3 problems given weren't even remotely covered in class or the hw. Extremely arrogant and condescending, avoid if u can.
Overall very good professor. You will learn a lot by attending class, just make sure you really understand the concepts and you will do fine. The tests have more complicated problems than the HW, but he grades fair. 1st test a lot of people messed up the 2nd prob, so he gave at least half credit for just putting something down.
Don't listen to the naysayers. Prof Jenkins is a good teacher, knows the material and knows how to present it. 3 HWKs per week (approx 2-3 hours to solve) will prepare you well for the tests. You still need to thoroughly review and prepare a GOOD flashcard. Grades very fairly. Attendance is very important and will save you from reading the book.
Prof. Jenkins is a very good MoM teacher. You need to go to class because everything you need will be clearly explained there. He has a weird sense of humor but is funny nevertheless. Be careful with HW since graders will take points off for every misplaced comma. Don't ask for regrades since Jenkins cannot be bothered to look at your work.
Jenkins is one of the last remaining "good ol boy" professors who will talk about quail hunting and flying his plane. Great teacher, but by no means is this an easy class.. Going to lectures is mandatory and his tests are real engineering tests, as they make you apply what you know and step out of the box usually on one of the three questions.
One of the gems at UF's college of engineering. Lectures are fantastic. Don't skip, he will explain exactly what you need to know for each homework the lecture before. If you pay attention in lecture and DO THE HOMEWORK, you will do great in the class. Otherwise, it will be difficult.
One of the best professors I've had in the engineering department thus far. Dr. Jenkins will go out of his way to help you understand the concepts, utilize office hours! Homework is assigned 3 times a week. This will help you prepare for the exams. The exams are very fair (3 problems), know the concepts not just how to do them and you will do fine.
Dr Jenkins is a gem of a human being and professor. He has an incredible amount of insight in the subject due to many years in failure analysis consulting. He brings in real life examples of the subjects you are talking about. He even brings in evidence from court cases from a time long ago. This man is a great teacher and a good friend. Phenomenal
Dr Jenkins was such an amazing professor. He is very helpful during office hours and will go out of his way to help his students understand the material. He even attended an event for an engineering society I'm a part of. He is truly a great professor and I hope to have more professors like him in the future!
Dr. Jenkins is the best professor I have ever had and I am a senior. He is so knowledgeable and makes everything easier but not over simplified. He truly knows how to teach. His lectures are amazing so don't miss because he explains way better than the book. The class is not easy and you need to put a lot of time but he makes it manageable.
I attended every lecture, took detailed notes, and spent hours reading the textbook. The homework assignments were very difficult. The exams were worse. I studied hard for each exam, but still failed I studied over a week for the final. I reviewed past homework assignments, quizzes, and exam solutions. Hardly anything I reviewed was on the exam.
He is a great professor. He teaches Statics well, and puts it as simple as possible (pretty sure his motto was "make it simple" or something along those lines). He is a bit of a tough grader, but if there is an error he will look over it. He is honestly, just a sweet man who brings into class examples of what we are learning (frames and machines).
Take Jenkins for statics. Jenkins gives partial credit on all homework and exams whereas which dikrel doesn't. I took the 80-99% online section so there were extremely helpful TA office hours every day in Marston and they would walk you through HW. Exams are straightforward if you've kept up with HW and noncumulative.
Been doing this for a long time, and he's good at it. Brings in good examples of objects to express the concepts. Exams are not cumulative despite his claims that they are. Do the homework, as one of the textbook problems reappears verbatim on the following exam. Tries to get you to solve the problem as simply as possible.
Dr. Jenkins is one of my favorite professors I have had thus far. He is very detailed with his lectures and even brings in materials from home to help us visualize things relating to Mechanics of Materials. He is truly passionate about engineering and what he teaches and also cares about his students almost as much as he does himself. Great Person!
lectures were great and jenkins explained the material well. However, the class grading scale is messed up. There were 3 hw drops for 34 homeworks that were 18% of the grade. The tests were 3 questions each and basically I got an 80 on one exam and 92 and 90 on both the others and could not even get an A- in the class. The tests are also very bad.
Dr. Jenkins is one of the greatest professors at the University of Florida. Statics straight to the point. He is a kind and caring man who does not try to trick you on exams. 100% would take him again.
Jenkins is a good teacher who gets to the point. Be wary about asking questions because I feel like he would sometimes roast people that asked stupid questions. HW 3 times a week, if you're confused go to office hours because they usually have the answer keys. 3 exams and 3 quizzes, both follow the format of the HWs.
Jenkins is definitely more of an old-school guy but that is not the worst thing. For the most part, what he teaches in class is what you'll end up seeing on your tests. His style of showing the concept and then doing a single practice problems is not enough at times, but supplement that with some extra effort and he is a fine teacher for statics.
Dr. Jenkins is the BEST professor I have had at UF. PLEASE take him for statics if you actually want to learn!! His HW and exams are very clear and he sets you up to do well in future engineering courses. I took this class three times, the previous ones with Dickrell and Baisley. DO NOTTT TAKE DR. BAISLEY FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD.
Very good lecturer in terms of introducing concepts, but goes kinda slow during lectures. Would usually only get through one practice problem during class, so looking at other examples in the textbook is necessary to expose yourself to the different types of questions that can be seen on an exam. Very helpful during office hours!!
He was a great professor, the class is just something you are always working on, because there is a hw problem for each lecture. Definitely recommend though!
I hated physics until I took this class. Still don't love it but Jenkins made it so much more manageable, and I felt like studying from the homework, quizzes, textbook problems, and other added study materials was incredibly beneficial for exam success. GO TO OFFICE HOURS TO GET HOMEWORK EXPLAINED!! Jenkins has some great TAs
Dr Jenkins lectured in a that I liked better than any of my other classes. The lectures were fast enough to feel like I was learning new content but slow enough that I could understand the material in class. There was homework every class that consisted of just a couple questions, but it was worth doing and greatly helped solidify the material.
