Fun teacher, very funny. fair tests and assignments!
I do not like anything to do with math, but Jewett was very helpful. He is a very funny guy. I wish I would have had him for psyc 100.

He's an awesome teacher and keeps me paying attention in class. He makes the class fun and makes it easy to understand. Strongly recommend!
Funny guy, he moves quickly, but his notes are easy to understand. provides some extra credit, but test can be chalenging if you dont study the notes well. I suggest at least skimming the text book as well.
He rocks! I love his personality and jokes, the assignments aren't too tough and if you study his tests are not bad!
Great and funny teacher! Too bad all teachers couldn't be like him!
Makes lectures very interesting!! Funny guy!!
He is an awesome teacher. He is funny and takes his time to help students learn. Tests not too hard and only a few papers. Take him!
Dr. J is a great teacher. His notes are very clear and his examples are very helpful. KNOW THOSE NOTES LIKE NO OTHER!! He has a GREAT sense of humor and personality. DR J IS THE BEST!!! :)
I dreaded Physiological Psych before going in, but Jewett made the class so enjoyable- it turned out to be one of my favorites although the material itself if tough. He's so funny, easy-going, and helpful. Everyone should take a class from him if they get the chance.
Dr. J is a hottie! And he is so hilarious. He makes the class so interesting with all his stories. The class is challenging but well worth it.
Dr. Jewett's class is very enjoyable. He explains things very well and uses videos to supplement his lectures. Only a few tests throughout the semester.
This class was easy and fun. All you have to do is show up to class, take notes, and study them.
OMG! awful class. ZZZZzzz Really hard too.
great teacher and was so helpful....
Dr. J is a great guy and a great teacher. The class is very easy and interesting at times. Just show up cause he does take attendence and take notes. KNOW THE NOTES. Don't bother reading the book unless you don't get the notes. The tests are very easy, Mutiple Choice, T/F, Matching and an occasional short answer or 2. Also, don't talk in class cause he kinda gets pissy if you do, and will point you out to everyone. Before tests he does study sessions which are helpful. GET THIS PROF.
Dr. J is a great teacher. I suggest Psychopharm (375) over Physiopsych (377) because you don't have to do the brain modules. Take good notes and try to just memorize everything, because he'll test you on EVERYTHING. Hard class, but I learned a lot and it was fun. WOOO-drugs! And, DO NOT BE LATE or he will be really P*ssed.
Dr. J is a great teacher. Though the class is challenging with a lot of materials he is clear and accessible. He also a fun guy to have teach you.
He makes lectures interesting and crack jokes when he can. Doesn't really help much if you don't understand. If you don't have prior psych knowledge then you will struggle. He does give good and clear notes for exams though. Exams are difficult but manageable if you study the material given to you. Interesting class but hard to learn with him.
This class was unbelievably easy...tests are multiple choice adn T/F. Know your notes and you will get an A. Take this professor.
Very helpful! I learned so much in this class. It is well worth your time. Dr. J also makes time for his students and is very clear when you are not understanding something! I highly recommend this class!
Jewett is the greatest Professor ever. I really enjoyed this class and recommend it to anyone. It is a pretty easy A.
Jewett is the best professor I have ever had. His lectures are very interesting, as he has stories about almost everything he talks about. He clarifies everything you need. He has study sessions before every test that helps in preparation. I had no prior Psych experience and found this class rather easy. Just study your notes and you will be fine
Very easy class. Dr. J makes it fun and interesting. Just memorize your notes and get an A.
Dr. J is the greatest man alive. Seriously. His fantastic stories and analogies, CLASSIC sense of humor and overall charisma is unbeatable. TAKE DR J ... your life WILL change :). What a great man.
Very good professor, but he can get cocky at times.
pretty easy class! took it my first semester and i blew through it. i didn't look in the book once bcuz all his tests are strictly from his notes.
Not the nicest guy when talking one on one but definitely funny during lectures. I would only recommend him if you have previous knowledge of psychology because he is not helpful.
As long as you go to class and take good notes, you should do fine on the tests. It is all just memorizing your notes! The class is very interesting, but you do take a TON of notes! Also you have an oppurtunity to earn extra credit.
Tests are based off all your notes, you don't need to read the book, at all. All memorization from notes and isnt' very approachable. But from what I hear he is better then other psychology teachers
Hes pretty condescending at times but the class was easy and interesting. Hes funny but if you have taken psych before you might feel like you know more than he does. Good class i just didnt care to be talked down to during lectures.
I really enjoyed this class. You don't really need the textbook because his exams are based on notes taken during class.
His class is a bit difficult, but he is very clear. If you study and put in a little bit of effort you will do well.
377 is a really interesting course. But, it's also very difficult. Lectures move fast, and the tests are very difficult. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying for this course, and start studying early. Jewett is a good professor, but he makes you work for a B. A's are rare, but if you work hard, the class is worth it, you learn a lot.
Good teacher, nice guy.
Dr. J is a really great professor! He's super funny and his lectures never get boring! He never refers to himself in his stories, its always "my friend". His lectures are slow paced so its easy to keep up and his tests are basically just multiple choice and if you take notes you should be fine!
He was so funny! I think he has been my favorite teacher so far. The class wasn't extremely hard but you need to put in a little work and pay attention to get a good grade. Take this teacher if you get a chance!
Seemed "standoffish" at first, but funny and nice. Know the notes well and tests are easy. Lot's of note taking, but overall good class.
Dr. J is a great professor. He knows a lot about psych, and can present information in a clear, and stimulating manner. Class seems to go by fast. Tests are based on the power points.
Dr. Jewett is my favorite professor here at EC so far (granted it's only my second semester). i took him first semester. Everything on the test comes from the power points, you don't need to open your book at all besides for the BNA's (total of 3 for the whole sem). Very clear, easy going, cool guy. Always refers in his stories to "my friend"
Dr. J is a riot! He is very funny and makes stats almost interesting. He is very good at explaining how to do things, although not always why you do things. He is willing to help you out of class if you need help. I think he is a really great prof. You should definitely take his class.
the whole class consists of taking notes from the power point-tests are just on the notes you take. the final is a normal chapter test. he explains things very well. he always has a smile on his face and he makes the class laugh. he gives you enough time to write papers
Dr. J is an awesome teacher. I would recommend him if you learn from taking notes and listening to someone talk. I have not opened my book yet this year and have done great.
Jewett was a really great professor. He made class interesting with stories, jokes, and a bunch of other things. His study sessions prior to "Learning Opportunities" are extremely helpful and not very long. He is very good about setting a good pace for class. He covers a lot but makes sure you have time to get everything that you need down.
Jewett is one of my favorite profs I've had in almost 5 years here. This class covers a ton of information all of which you need to know, but reading the book is not neccesary. I highly recommend taking him
dr J. is pretty cool, his lectures are interesting but dont talk during them or you'll get chewed out like some of the kids in our class, he is helpful if you ask and overall has a nice personality, stuff is interesting, dont use your book at all, tests are not crazy hard just alot of info, final isnt cumulative since he doesnt like finals etc.
Dr. J is a great professor. He knows exactly what he is talking about and will help you if you have a question. He is very funny and keeps class lively. I had a great experience in his class.
This class was real easy. You never had to open your book, and every test was based off the lecture notes, so all you have to do is memorize them! He kept the class interesting and always had stories to tell! Dr. J is always willing to help and he responds to e-mails very quickly. TAKE HIM!
very nice, funny guy. the only thing about him is that you CANNOT talk during his lecture or he will flip out. but just memorize your notes inside and out and you will most def. get an A. class was interesting enough that i didn't miss one single class! there's extra credit too. i would take him again =)
Best professor ever!
Dr. J is a very smart, kind, and helpful professor. Psychoharm is a super interesting but super hard class. I have never worked so hard and learned so much but only got a B+. The stuff you learn in this class you will use in your life outside of UWEC.
Jewett's the boss. PP is a really fun class, especially for all you pre-pharms out there. Read notes a lot but book is essentially useless.
Professor Jewett is a great teacher! He makes it interesting and fun! I love his stories, and he always has your attention! Tests are right off the lectures so don't even need the book. He tells you straight up how the tests will be. Show up to class and you can ace it all if you study for the tests. And the final isnt cumulative!
personally i hated him, his jokes got extremely old, he is not funny at all, class was boring, it;s not to hard, but i would try and find someone else.
It wasn't a hard class but it was definitely boring. I had trouble paying attention, and his jokes got tiresome very quickly. There is not a lot of book reading, but take good notes. Sadly, to do well on his exams you must pay close attention to the entire boring lecture. I do not recommend Dr. Jewett.
I liked jewett. His tests are not bad--straight out of his lecture so take good notes! His lectures can get pretty long and boring but compared to other lecture classes i took this year he was amazing! If you have any questions he will be glad to answer them if you ask. very helpful.
He is ok, he is really boring and his jokes are not funny, but he thinks he is hilarious. If you take notes you dont need to read usually. Test are ok if you take good notes and study them.
Dr. J was great! I loved psychopharm! Take GOOD notes, and study them...the weekly quizzes/tests (if you take the once a week class) are straight from the notes. I found this class to be super interesting and Dr. J's stories about his "friends" were usually pretty good.
doctor jewitt has an excellent grasp on his specific field of study. But I felt that his interest was more on himself that it was on trying to help his students (with the exception of those he deemed to be his favorites).
This was a great class, but don't take it if you want to have an easy class. Dr J makes learning fun, but you have to be willing to put in the effort. Definitely was one of the hardest classes I have taken so far, but the material is extremely interesting! If you love bio and psych you should do fine.
A very nice teacher. Gives everything you need to know in your notes on the exam. Tests, however, are still tricky unless you study days in advance. Helds my interest the whole class period, just don't text. Drinks a whole liter of soda during class..don't know how he does it!
I had him mid-semester as a switch from Gita. I think he did a great job with the transition. He is very willing to answer questions and his calculation tests are open book, conceptual is closed book. A little disorganized but that is to be expected coming in last minute mid-semester.
He likes to humiliate students if they aren't paying attention by staring at them or calling them out so never do anything else while you're in his class. Open book and closed book tests - closed book is conceptual and really hard if you don't read and comprehend all of the text in your book. He thinks highly of himself.
Dr. Jewett was awesome! Just take notes on his lectures, study those, and you will do good on his tests.
Dr. J has one hell of an ego and doesn't really teach you anything. He tells you to read the chapters and then goes through basic terms in class. He admits that the class average for the first exam is 65 but doesn't modify it at all. That doesn't say we're stupid or lazy, it says he doesn't teach us enough for us to understand what we're doing!
I really enjoyed this class and Dr. J. As long as you put in the work you will get a decent grade. The test are very fair. He goes over everything that's going to be on the test in class. As long as you take good notes and listen you should be fine!
Dr. Jewett is very good at teaching you the course material but is very condescending towards students. I asked a lot of questions in class and he seemed annoyed or put off when he had to take the time to answer them. Test material is easy if you study your notes and do the homework.
Helpful, realistic expectations, straightforward tests, easy to follow notes, & makes the math simple for you. I didn't think I would be very successful, but his teaching is excellent. He makes efforts to answer questions, be available outside of lectures, & gives feedback on the work. Makes the problems relevant & interesting. A worthwhile course.
Interesting subject and I enjoyed the class overall. However, tests are difficult. Has many multiple choicematching sections where you need to choose "all that apply." Sometimes, he has errors on the exams, so ask to see them once they are graded. Slow at getting tests back. Does not provide study guides. Take detailed notes and study them daily!
Jewett was hilarious, I had this class at 8 am three times a week and he never ceased to make me laugh, his stories and funny but make a good point. No story is ever for no reason, it's always pertaining to the topic at hand. He also never uses the book (you barely need it) and all of his exams are STRICTLY notes, making flashcards based from them!
Dr. Jewett is an awesome guy. He loves telling stories and they always end up relevant to the topic being discussed. My grade was based primarily on tests (there weren't many assignments).
He is a good professor and knows what he is talking about. There is only four grades which are tests for this class so that sucks.
The class was online but Jewett was quick to answer questions over e-mails and was helpful when students requested study guides for quizzes or more info on assignments. It's a lot of reading but the material is not difficult. I met Jewett once in person and he seemed great. Definitely recommend this class
Dr. Jewitt often acts in a condescending manner. I felt like a high schooler in a high school health class. I expected to learn more from the class, more about studies, public health, and how the soc/cog fields of psychology can contribute to the health decisions people make. The tests were poorly designed, one test had the same question 3 times..
My favorite class this term. There is much homework & many readings, but this is to ensure mastery of the material. He really cares about the learning process & being a good teacher; he regularly emails & posts corrections or outlines expectations. No study guides, just know your notes well; notes are allowed on the calculation part of the exam.
Dr. Jewett isn't my favorite professor, but he teaches you what you need to know. He's fairly clear about his expectations, but you really have to know the material to do well in the class. Few tests and SPSS assignments, but he covers a lot of material in one lecture.
Very hectic and unorganized class. Very unclear due dates. He gives a single example of each operation and only one. Makes a lot of mistakes in directions. You will learn from the textbook if you take him because he barely covers any material in lecture. He does not stick to the syllabus. You have been warned.
I really enjoyed this class and it isn't difficult if you are willing to put in the work. His tests are half computational and comprehensive. The computational is open notes which is really nice. He requires every step to be written out for the problems, so don't forget to do that. Just put in the work and sit in the front and you will be fine.
Professor Jewett was one of the best professors I have had while attending Eau Claire. If you take detailed notes and read through them and learn them from front to back, you WILL do well on the tests. He does not surprise you with anything you have not covered. If there is something specific from the book to read for the test, he will tell you.
If you truly make an effert to understand every aspect of the notes, you will do well on the exams. If you don't, you can expect a C.
Dr. Jewett made me want to be psychology major. If you are not motivated or at least a little interested in the topic, lectures will seem long because you take notes every day for the entire class period. I loved the subject and Jewett is a great lecturer. Grade is based off unit tests, which can be tough, and one paper. Highly recommend!
I have heard David Jewett is a good lecturer and that could be true. However do not under any circumstances take an online class from him. He was hands down the most passive and unorganized professor I have ever had. This class was hard for all the wrong reasons. He should not be allowed to teach in this manner and it's honestly embarrassing.
A lot of studying needed
Jewett is a fun guy, makes jokes during lecture often and tells stories. Class grade is based on 5 exams that are very, very hard. Be prepared to study hard and still get B-'s on the tests. Inconsistent grader and is not clear on expectations. Took this class for my major; avoid if possible. The work is way more difficult than it's worth.
Alright, so when it comes to the academic part of it (notes, tests, etc.) Jewett is not bad. He gives lots of notes, but makes sure you are well prepared for the test. However, as a person, he is less than pleasant and pretty condescending when you ask questions. His class has little homework and one paper. Grade is based on 5 tests and paper.
Jewett is very clear when it comes to what he expects for the 5 exams and 1 paper you complete for this course. Very lecture heavy and you must attend class because his notes vary from the textbook. As a person however, he is extremely intimidating and uses rude tone when speaking to you.
Professor Jewett was pretty strict in class and tried to be funny a lot... it didn't really word. He would randomly yell at students and then 5 seconds later he would be fine. He's really intimidating and not very good at explaining assignments. Hard to follow in lectures also; he skips around.
Jewett was an okay professor. There are better professors for psychology though. Take another one if you have to.
Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!! He has no sense of time management and his test questions do not relate to the notes at all. He takes forever to grade and he grades so unfairly. I was given an F once on an assignment. All I had to do was write 5 topics down, but I guess he didn't like my topics. I talked to him about it and he said nothing.
Horrible jokes. Very condescending. Doesn't let you finish your sentence. He threatens you if you take your phone out by saying we will have to lecture the class and be graded for it. If you're late twice its counted as an absence. Its ironic because he lectures about how to be considerate of others and their feelings which he lacks terribly.
Takes forever to hand back exams/quizzes. Does not give clear expectations on assignements. Exams are nearly 200 questions. He hates teaching this class so he does not put in the effort. Would recommend not taking him ever.
I do not like this professor. I was really looking forward to this class and it was a complete let down. It's disorganized, weak and I felt like I wasted time every time I was in class. Just a total waste of time. If you're a psych major, I'd take a different class to fulfill any reqs because this class just isn't worth it.
Jewett knows what he's talking about and makes you learn. He tells lots of stories that relate to the subject and will make you laugh. Take good notes and write down things that he says, study for every exam, and thoroughly read his expectations for the short paper. He cares and respects his students, very good guy. STAY OFF YOUR PHONE IN CLASS
Jewett is a different person one-on-one than he is in class. He will crack jokes and tell stories in class and is very informative in a classroom setting, but is short, direct, and cold one-on-one. He will ask you questions on the exam that were not covered in class or in the readings. Go over your notes everyday because you might have a quiz.
Jewett's class is lecture heavy, but he makes them interesting. He tells a lot of stories so get ready to laugh, even if they aren't funny. He is very strict about no phones and being ready to go at the start of class. If you listen and pay attention he will respect you. Only downfall he is a slow grader.
Dr. J. is awesome! I have taken 3 classes with him in total, and I loved every single one! He's a very smart guy, and if you put in the work, you'll love his class. It is so obvious that he knows what he is talking about, his stories are relevant to the content and he's hilarious. One of the best professors at UWEC, but he expects a lot of you.
Jewett is a little intimidating one on one, but makePsychology really fun to learn about with a lot of real life examples and interesting lectures. The class is graded on a few exams and a paper so there aren't a lot of easy points earned, but as long as you attend class and take good notes the exams follow the notes completely.
I thought Dr. Jewett was great. This course is extremely interesting but also quite challenging, as it involves the biology in drug use. I loved it, Your grade comes from JUST exams so prepare to do well on them. Study, study, study and go to class. Only way you get info. He is willing to help if you don't understand. He makes it really fun!
Jewett is a very good professor. Everything that he says in class WILL be on the tests. I spent a lot of time studying for his exams, but if you know the material front and back you will do just fine on the exams.
He's a really cool guy! Likes to tell stories about his kids and makes bad jokes. Very good teacher gives you all the information that will be on exams.
He is a fun professor! He is very strict about having phones out in class so don;t do it! He has many pop quizzes but they never hurt your grade just as long as you had less than 3 absences. Test were fairly easy as long as you paid attention in class but by doing extra reading in the book you would have more success. There was also no homework.
Dr. Jewett is a very good lecturer, which was great because all of the exam content comes from the lectures and the book is more used as a review. The grading is 100-80% on exams, up to 20% can come from research if you choose to do it. Absolutely hates technology use in his class and if he sees you on a phone or laptop he will kick you out.
Very strict on cell phone policy, doesnt even want to see them. Take notes through whole lecture and study with the book and notes for the exams. Funny professor but kind of treats you like a child.
Dr. Jewett always tries to make class engaging and fun. I actually looked forward to going to his class. Even while talking about heavy stuff he would try to lighten the mood with a joke at the end. He is very strict about technology so you have to hand write all your notes but he gives you ample time to take good notes!
Dr. Jewett is super understanding, he wants the best for his students. His lectures can get pretty boring. He hates technology, if he even sees your phone on the table he'll make a scene. The class was pretty easy, just lots of memorizing.
Dr. Jewett might be my favorite professor! He's very direct about his expectations, which is nice. Jewett's lectures are never boring and he has lots of experience to share. His tests/grading/general curriculum strikes a good balance between challenging and doable. You have to be in class if you want to succeed but it's a fun class to go to!
Dr. Jewett was a great professor to have. I felt for the first time parts of the nervous system were making sense to me, this was after taking multiple anatomy and psych courses that went over this. I took this course the semester COVID began and he was one of the few professors who I felt put effort into the transition from in person to online.
Awful. I have never taken a course with a less productive and less competent professor. He doesn't teach materials, he just puts words on slides and expects you to understand. He also never provided materials like the slides to review even though he promised he would. Avoid at all costs. Not worth the struggle and frustration of his awful teaching.
I did not realize how decent this guy was until he took over from his assistant Dr. Carter. His tests are straight out of the lecture, so as long as you pay attention and engage in class and with him personally, you wont feel completely lost.
Very heavy on lectures and for my class he only graded us on 4 exams we took.
Class grades are made up of exams only, which makes it hard to practice content and maintain a high grade. His lectures are boring, incoherent, and do not provide good information. Notes are impossible to take, as he puts single words/titles on the slides and only gives definitions orally. So if you miss what he said, then it's kind of "too bad."
His slides for class have maybe two words on them at most, and anything he says during class is "fair game" for a quiz or an exam. But of course that's "okay" because "we're all friends here". I would never take a class with him again. It's not worth the frustration and stress. I would give him a 0, but that's not possible. So I give him a 1.
Jewett seems like a nice guy- refers to everyone as "friends" and thanks you for asking questions. Class was pretty easy. To do well: - take word-for-word notes during lectures, quiz yourself a few times/wk -you MUST attend class. He does not post much at all online. *grade based on 5 exams; to view results, schedule appt outside of class
The class only consisted of four exams, so if you did bad on one of them you were basically screwed. Very lecture heavy and you take lots of notes. I thought the professor was very boring, strict, and got easily irritated. I didn't think the class was very fun or interesting at all.
Dr. Jewett was a nice relief after Dr. Carters portion of the class. Very specific about what will be on the (pop) quizzes/exams, and doesnt blind side you with information. The material is difficult, but Dr. Jewett has good way of using examples and stories to explain the content. Very strict on technology use, but I do think it is beneficial.
Class wasn't too bad but he definitely had an ego about his class being important. He was very condescending too.
In my opinion, Dr. Jewett was better at explaining the lectures better than Dr. Carter. For his exams, it was more lecture content, so make sure that you have detailed notes and actually go back to study the material. His persona can either be a hit or miss. He tries to make the class laugh, which is not bad, but there are times when he's grim
He is very exam heavy and with no other assignments it is important to attend every lecture. Take word for word notes in order to do well in the class.
He is great at explaining lectures and gives a lot of examples. However, he is terrible at talking one on one with students. He has no homework meaning your grade is just on the tests!
Would never take him again he just read off slides
Grades only tests. He assigns no homework. If you miss one of his classes, ask someone for the notes otherwise you will fail the test. He does provide outlines that have everything you will need to know for the tests, but some of the terms you have find in the book yourself. DON'T use your phone or computer in class, he will call you out harshly.
Prof. Jewett was definitely entertaining and has a lot of personality but he only grades the exams so if your not a good test taker you will 100% struggle in this class. He rarely answers questions and gives definitions that don't make a lot of sense.
This class is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. No matter how hard I try, I fail every exam. There are no assignments and grades are based only on his exams. He doesn't teach anything, doesn't post notes online, and his notes make zero sense. He wants his students to fail because he doesn't feel like teaching a 100-level course.
He doesn't post any of his content online so its very hard to catch up if you miss a class. His tests are the only thing we're graded on, so if you do bad on one of the tests, you're screwed
Honestly a pretty chill guy. He isn't the most tech-savvy but quickly replies to emails. First half of the course is based on relearning IDIS 125, second half is all discussions based on 2 research article readings. Honestly, if you come to class and pay attention, it should be an easy A. He has a good sense of humor and makes lectures enjoyable
I enjoyed his lectures and Jewett's unique personality that makes the lectures easy to follow and understand. There will be many notes, and he says that "anything that I say could potentially be on the exam," so I suggest you study every note you take and not just what is on the exam outline. He is very strict about phone and electronic use as well
Dr. Jewett lectures were clear on the notes he would like his students to have laid out, he also gave out study guides about everything on the exams. The only downside is he only does exam-based grading and is not the best with keeping up with grades. He also offers an extra credit system with SONA but doesn't give out that credit.
Jewett is a bad professor. He has extremely strict expectations but does a horrible job making them known. Schedule changed every single week and was very unpredictable. Moodle page was made 2 1/2 weeks late and was very disorganized. He sends the most confusing emails ever and his directors are never easy to follow. Try to find a different prof.
His exams do not mirror the format of his lectures and his expectations are unclear. He's not very understanding and doesn't take any involvement in helping his students succeed.
Dr. Jewett has the most ineffective teaching style of any professor I've ever had. He is very disorganized, lazy, and condescending to students. Emphasis on condescending. Grading criteria is completely undefined and changed every class period. Quizzes every class period "graded as a function of the class" with avg. ~60%. Don't expect to learn.
Quizzes often feel deliberately confusing, with questions that seem designed to trip students up rather than assess their understanding of the material. This style can make studying feel more like navigating a puzzle than genuinely learning. This teacher also has a demeanor that can make students uneasy, which affects the learning atmosphere.
Interesting dude for sure. A little weird but I think it's just a psych prof thing. Literally your entire grade is based off of weekly quizzes so if you're like me and not a good test taker it probably won't end particularly well for you. Doesn't post notes so missing class isn't exactly the easiest.
Such a goofy and entertaining guy, I enjoyed his class so much. I would 100% want him as a professor again!
I loved DJ! His lectures are so interesting and he is such a nice guy and a teddy bear! He is a little strict, just don't go on your phone or talk while he's talking. He only used the textbook for review questions. You also can do extra credit by doing SONA. He's so nice and if you study for the weekly quizzes you will do great. Loved him!
Take a different class. DJ might have a different style when teaching 100 or Psychopharm, but Clinical was a horrible experience. He rarely lectured, had us spend most of class time discussing articles instead. He seemed to design the class week by week, and randomly assigned extra work. So much time spent on busywork rather than learning.
He does weekly quizzes which are nice for someone like me who doesn't do well on larger exams. Some questions are straight from the textbook so as long as you do the review questions and study the terms from the outlines he provides you'll do just fine. Fair warning his lectures are more spoken than slide based so be sure to pay attention in class.
He is a nice guy, but his lectures are all over the place, and he stops mid-lecture to tell you anecdotes. Be prepared to read two scientific articles a week and write 2-3 pages about one of them every week. Exams and quizzes are worded confusing, and you don't get them back so you have no idea how well you're doing. Also, quizzes every class.
So chaotic. Had us read two chapters of the book within 2 days, which were 30+ page chapters, and he didn't tell us what to focus on. Never got our exams or quizzes back, nor did he ever grade them until a month later, and half of lecture was him telling us stories. Yes, he's a nice guy, but I hope I don't have to take another class with him.
Dr. Jewett is beyond horrible. He is a researcher in psychopharmacology. He should have stayed a researcher and never taken up teaching.
The class itself was very lecture heavy and Professor Jewett does not post the slides or notes online -- so attendance significantly matters for this class. The class itself was not too bad; basically know your class notes inside and out and the tests will be a breeze. There is also usually one section of the test that is on a textbook section !
So boring. Not very lecture-heavy, mostly reading and discussing articles. Insists that each assessment is a "quiz," but they're about 50 questions and 100 points each. Quiz formatting is a bit funky, but straightforward material-wise. I think he'd be better as just a researcher, but whatever. Just so so boring and almost ill-prepared.
The course was disorganized, with unclear expectations and slow grading. Overall, it was disappointing. Lectures were engaging but unfortunately rare. Class time was instead spent discussing research articles that did little to support content learning. The quizzes (actually exams) were poorly formatted, though they were based on lecture material.
