If you study for the tests, you will do fine. If not, it's hard. He's very nice.
He's extremely nice and not so bad of a professor. His tests tend to be confusing at times, but if you study you will do fine. If you are not into politics, the class will be boring.
its all based on the book, multiple choice ?'s easy b or a if u read and come to his lectures, not bad at all
Can't say much about him since I didn't pay attention in class (in other words, he was quite boring). Very nice guy though.
his jokes are a little bit NOT funny. He talks out of his ass sometimes but mostly very nice guy. dont have to be in class 2 get a good grade. just have someone sign you in. Everything is by the book, and if u get a kid in your class named Igor, drop it.
If you're not a native English speaker the multiple choice exams will ****you off. This guy manages put everything in one sentence which makes you wonder what he's actually asking you. Class is boring, he's nice though.
Nice professor, curves grades, gives review sheets before tests.
first off, i STRONGLY AGREE about the Igor comment. Seriously though, this is a good class if u dont feel like going to classes. I have been there about 4 times and im doing fine. Hes a bit monotoone, but a really really nice guy who will help you.
He is a very easy professor. A little bit of studying (just reading your notes) will earn you an "A!"
Not a hard class as long as you do at least a tiny amount of work. He is funny at times it's just most people find the class boring. The only way i see someone failing is if they dont get someon to sign them in.. He's very helpful so yeah enjoy!
Research and written work, but will assist and direct you every step of the way. Allows re-writes for papers. No Easy A, you will have to actually prove yourself individually to him. Course dynamics and particulars are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from POL 1101.
Good Professor - had him for congressional process. All written assignments and research papers. NO Multiple choice test here. If you enjoy politics, you'll like his class
Uses a MIC? Multiple choice is confusing, he words it so that you dont know what hes asking EXACTLY....takes attendance, make a friend to get em to sign u in...uses notes in tests tho
This guy's pretty easy. He's a little boring but knows what he's talking about. Sign in sheet for attendance so get other ppl to sign you in. If you pay attention and read the book you're guaranteed an A. His tests are mult choice...really easy if u read.
he gives good notes but his tests r hard. he puts them in difficult terms to understand and the questions r tricky. ur gonna have 2 choices for every answer. take someone else.
I took him in Fall 2003. He was very clear you just have to review your notes and takes notes in class. Tests Multiple choice. Can be tricky but if you study really hard you could do well.
the easiest teacher ever. Just read the book and do the review sheets and u will get an A
He's a very good teacher. Students don't appreciate how awesome and helpful he is. His tests are kinda hard because you always end up with 2 answers.
Boring at times, but very clear...If u have a low attention span pick someone else... pretty nice guy
he's the best teacher ever. really clear and helpful. his tests are not easy, but if u were taking good notes you don't even need to do the reading.he's such a sweetheart. i love this professor. i hope to take another one of his classses. seriuosly- don't think twice! take him!
Such a nice professor. Tests are a little hard, but take him, you'll actually learn something and he's reallly nice
He's an easy teacher. It easy to understand what he is trying to say because he is very clear. Tests are pretty tricky tho. You must take good notes in order to get a good grade. No homework. Only multiple choice tests but they are not that easy. Read notes carefully and you should do well.
He's the man!! Explains everything in a very understandable manner, funny and witty. Uses a lot of examples, gives study sheets for the tests.
He doesn't teach any helpful lecture in the class. He doesn't make any helpful curve. He gives out difficult exams. He has a good voice. He gives pages to study before final exam.
great teacher. he knows whats hes doing.
Great, Easy, Helpful, Understanding,Knowledgble Prof., need I say more?
Prof is always helpful but every time the class meets its always the same struc. gets very boring and monotone voice don't help. Tests r hard i walked out thinking i got a 90 both times ended up being 75's i guess reading the book is a must for this class if u gonna read easy A if not easy C
HE IS SO INCREDIBLY HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't need to read the textbook for his class. I didn't and I got an A. You must take good notes because just about everything from his tests come straight out of his lectures. All 3 exams are multiple choice. His questions can be tricky if you don't study your notes carefully so pay attention.
VERY boring, monotone voice, but he makes the material easy to understand. Tests are TRICKY! He curves the grades and is fair with final grades.
I can't believe someone said that you need to read the book for his class. If so we're took different classes, all of the material in the test comes from his notes and he said so himself. Easy, but boring.
Prof. Jones is a very good teacher. He knows Political Science well and is very passionate about the subject. Unfortunately, sometimes the material is very dry and its hard to pay attention. His tests are rather tricky, but if you read the book and look over your notes, you should be alright. He doesn't ask for much, 3 HW's and 3 tests. Nice guy.
Great teacher. He knows what he is talking about and wants to share his knowledge. Yes, as others have said, sometimes the class is very boring, but its the nature of the subject, not him. The tests are somewhat tricky, but if you are prepared. you will do well. Take him, you will learn a lot. Highly recommended.
Professor Jones is very fair and helpful. The class wasn't too difficult, just 3 homework assignments and 3 multiple choice tests. The tests were a bit on the tricky side, but nothing that you can't handle. I got an A, and I felt he was generous because I probably deserved more like an A-. Take him and if you pay attention, you will do well.
He is a good professor, easy to understand, teaches well. He gives out tricky tests. Take good notes and read the book if you want to get an A. Participation in class also helps. If you want to simply pass, make sure to take good notes, and listen to class, this should suffice for a C to B+ depending on how much you know of Poli Sci
Knows the material like the back of his hand. He is very interesting but the material is NOT. The tests are very TRICKY, if you think u got a 100, u probably got a 70. Watch yourself! Take EXCELLENT notes because his WHOLE exam is on that. Take him, he's cool, and even tho he makes u SLEEP, if you manage to stay up, you can pass with a B or better.
best professor...best teaching and very smooth class and good grader. if one deserve A ..he will give A.
He's excellent, very intelillent, knows what he is teaching, fair grading people, but his exams are tricky. you have to take very good notes.
He is a good professor. He knows his material as he is not one of those profs who have been teaching for a 100 years and lost contact with truth on the ground realities of the field (he worked in recent electoral campaigns, etc.) I failed in his midterm and final and still received a B+, because I was able to demonstrate my clear grasp on the matte
sucks big time.....exams are way tricky!!!
This professor is very organized, his lectures are very clear, he is very helpful, easy to reach by email or in the office. 3 tests plus some homeworks(no final).Even if you dont like politics and think its boring (just the way I did), take him, he makes it interesting. And his tests are not tricky if you use some logic
he is a very good prof, all you have to do is pay attention during the class and take good notes, and the exam wont be so hard. He is also there for the students in case you need help.
strite forward, 3 tests and 3 short hws. tests mite be on tricky side but easily overcome wif a lil bit of thought.
I WANTED TO DO MINOR IN POLITICS...STUDIED MY ASSES OFF..& IT WS THE ONLY CLASS DURING SEMESTER THAT I GOT C- ...I GOT A IN REST OF CLASSES!
This class is very laborious and difficult for people who expect to do minimal work. It challenges you intellectually and gives you a profound comprehension of Congress, if you are taking this class, thinking it is an easy A, I recommend you take something else. He gives you two essays, 8 or 9 HW assignments, and 2 tests. You must be prepared to wo
EASY CLASS!!!!! U have to be retarded to fail this class. i got an A for a minimal amout of work.. GREAT NOTES
Great lectures. Keeps class engaged. Exams are all fair but some questions might be TRICKY, just read them like three times. Other than that he is a good choice for this class.
extremely easy class for the shy people. No need to speak in the class and just take note. The tests are a little bit tricky, but you will get good grade if you listen in class and read the book before the test.
sux....hez not as easy as det other ppl said.....
easy too understand.......
a lot of readings...hard exam Qs...
His lectures are so clear and detailed that I feel like I'm walking through U.S.' timeline. Take him, just pay attention to his lectures. His tests are mutiple choice and very easy.
He looks exactly like Greg Kinnear! And he's a very concise, interesting professor. =)
pretty good lectures, gets boring at times but I mean it is political science...he gives clear and organized class notes, pay attention in class, you should do well on exams. 3 multiple choice test, if you do bad on the first and significantly better on the last 2, he weighs them more...
He says that it's 99% that what is in the textboook but was not covered in class is not going to be on the exam, several homeworks, 3 mult.choice exams, but I would say his exams and HW are confusing, he is ok about latenesses, I wouldn't say his class was so easy, but if you study you'll be fine I believe.
HE'S A GOOD PROFFESOR,KNOWS THE MATERIAL VERY WELL,BUT ALTHOUGH THERE R ONLY THREE MC.EXAMS,THEY R KIND OF HARD 'CAUSE THEY R TRICKY. IF POLITICS ISN'T UR PASSION, THEN,IT DOESN'T MATTER IF U STUDY A LOT(I DID), THEY'RE NOT SO EASY,ALMOST EVERY ANSWER SEEMS TO BE THE RIGHT ONE, SO YOU GET CONFUSE AND MARK THE WRONG ONE.ONLY 3 HOMEWORKS,GOTTA READ!
sign in sheet for attendence (can just have friends sign in), 3 tests (50 multiple choice, only whats covered in class so just take notes) weighed equally but says he'll weight the 1st less if you do better. gave like 2 written homeworks which take maybe 10-15 min each. dozed off half the time and still got 96 on both tests and full credit on hws
He explains very well and talks a lot in details. 95%he told in the class well be in the test although tests are somehow tricky.
Gosh i reli enjoy his class!!Very clear and funny.Sometimes fell asleep in class but u know thats political science.Ususally he tried to make the class intersting. His study guide is helpful and TAKING GOOD NOTES is the most important thing.Read the book a little b4 the exams and that can make sure u get a good grade. He also curves.Take him.
Jones is the cleverest professor I've had so far. His tests are tricky, but you learn alot from his lecture. He really knows his subject. I strongly recommand you to go to his office hours. He'll review what's gonna be on the test with you.
Really great professor and can be funny. He makes the class interesting and there are times in which you think you got a 100 on his exams but then you somehow always manage to get something wrong. Just read the book and study the notes and you would do fine.
He's a interesting lecturer, but his tests and homeworks are extremely tricky, even if you study a lot and try very hard.Take really good notes in class. If you're really interested in Pol. Sci this is the guy for you. If not, don't take him.
No one is better than him.He is so patient and nice!
3 exams and 3 homeworks. Not a lot of work but he is a really good prof. gives study guide prior the exams. Almost everything is in the book. His exams are a little bit tricky but if you study you'll get a good grade. He does not curve but the homeworks are a way to get a better grade.
Really helpful and nice, He is just the best
I got an A. 3 exams counted 30% each with 10% hw. If your grades are improving, tests are counted as 20% 30% 40%, just to boost your grade up. He posts grade an hour after test online and replies back email questions in less than 30 min. very HIGHLY ORGANIZED and respectful to his students. Those who complain about him must lack efforts.
I had Prof. Jones for the fall of 2008. The Smartest prof. I ever had. 3 Exams equal 90% of the grade, and the rest HW. You really learn a lot. I got an A -. He really should be a politican!
The best professor you could ever imagine. He is extremely orginized and helpful. Though his tests a bit tricky, all you have to do to get a good grade is to take good class notes and base your textbook readings on that.2 midterms,1 final and 3 short homeworks. I got B- for the first exam but as i improved the furhter grades, i got straight A!!
keeps u engaged. all multi choic exams: ranges from easy to hard ques. ques r tricky yes but not that tricky to not get it. its mostly like "which one is the MOST important" etc. jus listen to his lectures and ull do fine. take notes!!! curved exams. everything he says is good enough for the exams. txtbook isnt really needed.review sheets provide
Prof. Jones seems very passionate about POL SCI, he teaches with a smile on at all times. He's very clear on the material, there are 3 tests (50 multiple questions each) questions are based on notes (so take good notes) and 3 homework assignments (which is easy if you're an awesome reader). He's pretty cute for his age and is very approachable.
So the material is extremely boring but that's not his fault (: Very enthusiastic & keeps a smile on when teaching. Attendance isn't mandatory but the 3 exams (including final) are based on the lectures & in class notes. Tests are 50 MC, if you study you'll do fine. HW can be done within 20 mins each. Got an A- & only used book once for HW.
Great guy ! like others said, he enjoys teaching, always has a smile on and keeps you engaged. Some material is interesting, some can be a bit boring (end material). Overall, great personality always willing to help and makes the class easy by providing many resources ! Definitely recommend you to take him !
Excellent instructor. Organized, clear, smart, broad knowledge of subject. Thoroughly covers U.S. government, history, Constitution, procedures, includes current events & controversies. Answers students' questions very well. Assignments ask for thinking, not just rote memory. Great class for someone who wants to learn basic political science.
He's really great
Prof. Jones is great. He knows politics and he knows how to keep us engaged. You would want to attend class because he gives lots of notes that are ALL on his exams. He makes POL interesting and helps you to better understand the world of politics. He's great and helps his students. Thanks to him POL SCI became my minor! Great professor!
I reccomend this professor since h really breaks down American govt, so that his students understand it well. Attendance is reccomended since it's a Loy of notes which are needed to pass te test. I never read the book and managed to ace the tests. 2 exams, a final, 3 hw's, and ur attendance. I highly recommend him if u wanna learn about the basics in politics.
He is a great professor. Make sure you read textbook and he tells you everything that is going to be on the exam. His notes are helpful and attendance is taken everyday.
Amazing and easy professor. He enjoys his subject and teach's it very well. Just keep really good notes, copy down everything he says and writes and an A is extremely easy to get. Besides that, occasionally read the book for he sometimes makes specific questions and take note of anything special he says. 3 hw's 3 tests, not cumulative, easy class.
best professor in baruch. people complain about him are all stupid. interesting class and he always helps students. encourages you to ask more questions and gives hints about the questions on the test. he curves all of the tests so just take notes
He's pretty straight forwar: attend class and take notes. there are only three easy hw's the entire semester and there are two tests and one final. he gives outlines for the tests which are really helpful.
the easiest class i have ever take in my life. you need to be really dumb to get less than a b in this class. just make sure you study for the tests. 3 hw (less than a page) and 3 tests (50 mc). gives review sheet before every exam. take him he is the man
Really nice and easy professor! 3 short homeworks, 3 easy multiple choice tests... Easy A plus you'll learn a lot!
Unfair grader.Tricky exam questions. Need to take great notes in order to get a good grade.
Prof Jones is a cool guy, but his exams are tricky. Don't be fooled when some people say his tests are easy. Of course, the homework is okay. He gives only 3 hw assignments for whole semester not bad, but he is very picky with what he wants to see for hw assignments
Take him !!! As long as you pay attention in class you don't have to read the text book. Tests and homework's are easy.
This man is fantabulous. His exams are usually fair and the workload is good and easy. However, BEWARE OF THE FINAL WHICH IS SURPRISINGLY TRICKY AND A GPA DESTROYER. I had an A the entire semester and I came out of the final thinking I scored in the high 90's when in fact I got a 67. It brought Everyone down from A's to C's.
A really good professor but exams are tricky.
Final is tricky . But prof is very good. He speaks clearly and easy to catch up with. If u have questions just go to his office hour. He explains patiently. Very good prof. A must take!
As long as you pay careful attention during class lectures I'm sure you'll do fine. However, sometimes he can be VERY boring. He only gives 3 homeworks and 3 tests (no midterm, and the third test counts as a final) throughout the entire semester! Also, its pretty easy to do well on these because EVERYTHING IS BASED ON CLASS NOTES.
Jones is great. He tells you everything you need to know and thoroughly explains the rather confusing subject of politics. I got almost 100 on every test - all because of his teaching. It was a great experience to be in his class!
If you do the readings and take descent notes, you will have no problem doing very well. You must study for his tests (3) - some questions will trick you. Overall, easy A... Awesome professor: interesting, smart and funny. Minimal effort gets you an A.
Great class and awesome professor. You need to take notes but his lectures are super interesting even if you have no background in Political Sceince. Three tests with 50 multiple choice questions that are easy as long as you pay attention in class. Very little work, but you will learn at lot. Easy A if you work for it. And he's easy on the eyes too
Hard to focus in class cuz Prof's voice is monotone. I found his exam very tricky. He curves the exams with a few points. Absolutely not an easy A, not even an easy B in my opinion.
Pros:Very good notes, cheap textbook, very easy to communicate with, Good humor, manageable tests Cons: strict deadlines, somewhat monotone, strict grader Advice: DONT rely on text for tests, take good notes and use them. Sit in the front row because it can get boring. Great prof IMO
Really clear and helpful. Teaches this class just like AP US gov. So you will likely ace this if you've taken that. I did. Some students that didnt know much about politics that I knew still did well in his class, but really study notes for test. Truly a great professor. Would take him again in a heartbeat,
Great professor. Exactly what this class should be. 3 Easy tests and 3 five minute HWs.
Should definitely take! His homeworks were really simple (and even if you didn't do well, they're only worth about 10% of your grade.) Tests are simple, he gives review sheets, so class notes/discussions are crucial to doing well! You don't need the textbook, though it may be beneficial for clarification on points discussed in class. Great prof! :D
He's a very good prof. He teaches with enthusiasm and the class is very interesting. If you pay attention in class and take notes everything you will do well in his class.
He is a very intelligent man that always answers questions with a smile. Three tests, three hws, all based on his lectures. Therefore, take good notes and you are guaranteed a great grade. I would take him again. Highly recommended!!
GReat Professor, I want him to teach me EVERYTHING! You should definitely take his class.
He is a really nice professor willing to make sure you learn. Unfortunately the exams are a bit confusing but it wasn't cumulative.
He's a very smart man. However, his tests are confusing and he tries to make sure they're difficult. However, he would do anything to help his students learn. His homework is based on his opinion and there is only 1 acceptable answer to a million answer question. But his class isn't bad and he's very nice.
His tests are a bit hard, class average was consistently low but he curves in the end so just study the book and notes. His homework makes you think as well. Class is not too difficult. He's hilarious during lectures and works to make students understand the material. Take if he's available.
Jones is a great person and teacher, but only his answers are the right ones. Few short homework assignments are given so they are counted very heavily, and even if you justify your reasoning to your answer he will not give credit (half if you fight him for it) for the that question. He is a very strict grader and doesn't round/ give extra credit.
Great lecture class. I recommend you skim through the textbook. You don't necessarily need to read it thoroughly, but there WILL be questions on the tests that can only be answered if you looked on the textbook. 95% of what you need to know for the tests come from the lectures. Oh and if you ever need more clarification on things, just ask him!
3 tests, 3 homeworks. Lectures were interesting but some days were a bit of a drag. You can get away with not reading the textbooks since you'll be taking a lot of notes in his class. You should still skim it since it will help a lot with homeworks and there are a few questions on the tests that are specifically from the textbook.
Very good professor, easy to take good notes from. Speaks clearly, in a way that makes the material easy to understand. Very fair grader, and grades on a curve. He hosts a review session after class before each exam, which is also very helpful. Very knowledgeable, highly recommended.
I love Professor Jones. Wasn't a big fan of political science at all, but after taking his class I have a genuine interest in it. He's very passionate about what he teaches and he knows how to answer all your questions. A bit picky with his homeworks, but they're only a small part of your grade. He speaks clearly and has amazing lectures.
David Jones is overall a really great guy. His teaching style is easy to follow, easy to take notes, and understand his material. I actually look forward to go to his class. He cares about the students and he wants you to do well. He is an average-tough grader, but he tells you exactly what's going to be on his tests.
Easy A if you're into American politics. If you arent, this might be a tough for you as you'd be clueless in the first exam. 2nd and 3rd are comparatively easier. HW grading is not fair. Takes attendance via a sign in sheet so you can ask friends(if you have any) to sign you in. Great lecturer but boring for those not interested in politics(like me
Unnecessarily difficult class. Harsh grader.
Not my strongest topic, but he was always accessible after class for me to discuss problems. Caring, passionate, organized. Best to be there in person to listen. 3 exams all curved. You have to do the homework as part of the grade (also curved). I got a B-, but I recommend him.
Professor Jones is a role model of what professor should be. He is about as straight forward as a professor could be. He cares about his students. He explains everything clearly, throughly and in it's entirety in all his lectures. If you are having trouble he is easily accessible. There are 3 test and 3 homework. They aren't too difficult.
David Jones is a great professor, Sign In Sheet, Don't even have to go to class(Have someone sign you in) 3 tests 3 homework all curved. Grading for the homework makes no sense. All the tests are unit tests(One is the final). Great Professor take him if you have the chance
Attendence is not mandaorty, just have someone sign you in. Theres 3 tests and 3 homeworks. homework is easy and straight to the point but if you dont put his answer hell mark it wrong. Tests are all 50 mc and are noncumulative. Easy to pass if you use the study guide. He is willing to change the way he counts each exam to better your grade.
3 noncumulative tests, each worth 30%, and an average of 3 homework grades, worth 10%. Textbook isn't needed, tests are based solely on lectures. Attendance taken through sign in sheet. Doesn't allow any type of electronics. For his HW, just regurgitate what he says in class and you will do fine. Little studying needed
Prof. Jones is very knowledgeable. His lectures may be boring, but you have to pay attention to do well on his exams. He gives 3 exams and 3 homeworks. They are not that hard as long as you pay attention in class and do your chapter readings (although textbook is not really necessary). He cares for his students, and tries to give deservable grade.
Other professors should really look up to this guy. Very organized, knowledgeable, and covers everything you need to know. I never even bought the textbook and had minimal catching up to do with the class. The first test really was the hardest one since it was more-so about history, while the other two are about political science.
Within the first 5 minutes of the class if you arent out cold sleeping I would seriously be surprised. I never used to be able to sleep in class but as I walk in his class I cant keep my eyes open for more than 5 minutes and other people Ik have said the same thing. In the beginning he was funny but as time went on his monotone voice takes a toll
You can tell he is really passionate about what he teaches. He has 3 hw and 3 exams. For the exams, make sure you study your notes. He also uses a free online textbook. I did fall asleep a few times but he posts his presentations up on blackboard so if I missed anything I would look there. This class is really interesting if your into politics.
Davie Jones locker... pretty good teacher, cant complain. Never used the textbook once, just showed up to class, took notes and studied occasionally, ending the class with a B. If youre into politics my mans dave will definitely spark your interest. Would recommend.
David Jones is knowledgeable of politics however has been the harshest grader I've ever encountered if your timed writing skills aren't the best look for a different professor. If your GPA matters to you this might not be the best class for you as the average grade is around a B.
Weekly quizzes are easy if you pay attention during class. Harsh grader on exams (timed essays) and no final. First one's average was a 50. He had to change the rubric grading for us to pass the next one. Even if you got 100s on every quiz, you'll likely not do as well on exams. The best you could get is a B. A lot of reading, but not necessary.
Aside from exams I actually learned a lot and enjoyed the class. This was the most I've learned, ever, and it was useful information. He talks slow, so put his videos on 1.5x speed and take a lot of notes.
Minimal effort on his end, extremely harsh expectations and even harsher grading. His timed essay exams are more critical of writing skills than the essays given by professors in the English department! If your grade matters to you, do not take him! You will have to struggle for an A.
The weekly quizzes are very easy to pass, but like others have said the 3 exams are more difficult, but not impossible to do good on. I don't recommend this class if you're looking for an easy A (or are a bad timed essay writer). His lectures were engaging though and I learned a lot from this class.
Even as an A student, extremely difficult. Extremely harsh grader. Will not recommend to anyone trying to get a good grade. With that being said, his lectures are very informative, and you will learn a lot.
I had this course asynchronously and there were so many video lectures. The quizzes and exams were really challenging and he is a tough grader. Although he does curve the scores a little it is difficult getting a good grade in his class. Prepare for lots of note-taking and listening to lectures, and taking weekly quizzes.
Prof. Jones is pretty straight forward. He's Asyrchrnous but has recorded voice lectured over PPT slides. He posts about 2 lectures a week and each lecture takes about 45 mins. The lectures are very informative. Has 3 exams, each exam is your choice of 2 essay prompts. I only to a low grade, because I accidentally missed the first exam.
You don't need to read the textbook to pass his class and ace his weekly quizzes (that are worth 1% of your grade), but his three exams require way more comprehension of the material, and you probably need to read the textbook to get an A in this class. He is a nice and good professor, but this subject is not for me.
Don't bother with the textbook, just study his lectures and take REALLY GOOD notes. Those lecture notes are all you need to pass his quizzes and tests.
The test are easy if you study
Good teacher, fair tests. Harsh grader. Don't bother reading the textbook it is never used on the exam. 3 exams and 3 homework, the exams are all multiple choice questions.
Most of your grade is based off 3 exams each worth 28% but he will apply a curve if necessary. You have 3 homeworks worth 10% of your grade. The rest is attendance which he allows only two absences. Overall his class was quite clear and easy if you attended lecture and took at least some notes. His lectures were interesting enough to pay attention.
Professor James was probably my best professor this semester. 3 exams and 3 homework assignments. He is willing to help students outside of class and provides good feedback. Interesting lectures. As long as you read over his slides and study you should be fine. Would definitely take him again.
Don't buy the textbook. You won't use it at all. Memorizing his powerpoint notes is all you need to do. This class is all about memorization. The test is usually 50 MCQs. Also, try to give at least 6 sentence responses on the homework, he is a pretty harsh grader when it comes to them.
Professor Jones is a really good professor, would definitely take him again. Don't buy the textbook, his slides are just enough to do good on the exam. Overall, there are 3 homework assignments and 3 exams (50 mcq), there's no midterm and no final.
Honestly, he is a very nice professor. He talks to the class through the slides he shows. He only assigned three homeworks and three tests. He was very accessible through emails. And he gave you his time during office hours. I respect this man a lot. Show him your respect. Attend class and make sure to study for his exams.
Professor Jones made sure that I understood the notes whenever going over the slides. He posts the slides and the classes were engaging. Office hours were quite helpful and he makes great effort for his students to do well. Easy A if you go over the notes and study the material.
notes heavy test heavy Homework must be done in a certain way to get full credit
Professor Jones class in my opinion was alright. I managed to get a B in the class, but it wasn't easy. If you don't like government, this aint the class for you. There 3 hw's, and 3 exams. The exams and hw's are pretty tricky, and requires lots of studying for it. He does curve exams and hw's but must put in the time to study for this class.
Idk why he has a high rate, but just so you know he'll give you like three homework throughout the semester, and he grades them harshly. For the most part, I would use evidence and answer the questions correctly. I'd cite whatever sources he'd teach from his slide and he would still give me a 1 out of 6. He thinks we are him.
Reviewer below=skill issue HW: topic sentence & evidence; 6 sentences Answers are on the slides. Just apply that information to the article he links. Easy 5-6s. Good lecturer but gets boring if you aren't into the topics. Helpful office hours and accessible outside of class. Tricky exams but got a B+ on each by skimming through the slides.
He is a very nice guy, and his lessons are very organized. You can tell he is very knowledgeable on his subject, and enjoys teaching it. Only 3 homework assignments, but he grades it on how well you do it not completion. Also, curves exams for me personally I remember he curved the exam by 10 points.
professor jones was my professor last semester for the fall. he's a nice professor but I fought my hardest to ensure I would pass the class and I did. if you're not a fan of a government class or you think it's too much, don't go for it. 3 exams, few homeworks and bare in mind, he wants the homeworks done a specific way. overall good class.
Took him Fall 2022. agree with other reviews - great professor and organized. lecture heavy so study all the slides with class notes for the exams & few hws (grade on quality). his curve depends on your grade. if you get a high grade your curve is barely a curve so you have to do well. he provides extra resources in the course documents.
Easy class. Professor will help you if you actually seek help. Course was generally easy, super easy exams and minimal homework.
Take him if you get the opportunity you won't regret. Thought would be hard but he makes it so easy to understand. There is a textbook but it's free and he gives it online. You don't need to read it literally just pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Curves homework and exams. Overall 3 exams all weighted the same. Glad had him!
Professor Jones runs a lecture-heavy class, so staying on top of the slides and class notes is key. The exams can be tricky, but using Unstuck study alongside other study tools like ChatGPT can really help with prep.
helps you if you seek for it. there is a textbook but not used. whole exam is basically just from the slides.
He's an amazing professor! The final isn't cumulative, which reduces pressure for sure. There's a textbook and it can be useful. His lectures are long but seriously driven by passion. His expectations are clear and absolutely manageable. If you get less than an A or A-, that is entirely on you lol. I'd take his class again for sure.
His lectures are amazing and he gives you all the info you need to pass your exams. Attendance is taken by completing a quiz. Just pay attention in class review slides and you'll pass.
Lectures was him explaining the slides, but they're very straightforward and he is passionate about the subject. It got boring at times but the 3 tests covered different sections of units, not cumulative. Had one homework for the 3 sections of units for each section. The tests do get difficult, but his office hours are helpful. Easy pass.
That's the goat.
Professor Jones is well educated on political science, and you can tell that he is extremely passionate about the subject as well! He is a hilarious professor who makes lectures enjoyable. His lectures, homework, and exams are all very straight-forward. He gives you all the material that you need to pass, I would definitely recommend him!
very cool. very smart. very skinny. you can tell he likes what he's teaching and he's very knowledgeable. long lectures that always ended up in me learning something I genuinely did not know. chill ass guy
Prof, Jones is a great teacher! hes very passionate about his teaching. Even though exams are worth a big chunk, he prepares you very well for them, and none of them are cumulative. He's very understanding and a chill guy.
His lectures were amazing, and so were his PowerPoints. Everything is posted online. Attendence is taken by quiz, but it is literally just picking the word that he chose for that day. Only three homeworks were given, and they are based on the slides. Tests are not cumulative, which is great. Take notes and study, pretty easy course to pass.
Professor Jones is a great and very organized professor. He takes attendance (5%) through Brightspace at the start of class. There are three homework assignments (3.3% each) and three exams (28% each). The exams are worth the most, but he reviews the material thoroughly beforehand, and it's helpful to make a Quizlet with all the terms to study.
amazing guy
