Funny, smart and cute for an old guy.
Boring..easy tests. He just talks the whole time, no book, must attend classes
So very boring. I fell asleep in class many times.
Pretty cool, very reminicent of Red Forman from that 70's show

If you did all the work it was pretty easy. The only thing you get a grade for is 2 take home tests that he grades really tough, and the 2 book reviews he grades really easy.you need to take good notes to get a a good grade on the tests. He can be a jerk!
This guy was great and easy on the eyes. His sense of humor is kind of quirky but fun.
He really loves what he is teaching, and gets excited and into his lectures like a little kid. I would def. take him again. After taking the class I wanted to be an anthropology major. He's handsome too.
Very smart, witty and fair. Will help students who ask for it. A nice guy. Gives take home tests. Wish he taught more classes.
You either love him or you don't. I loved him. Take good notes and for the tests just spit them back to him.
graet cause you can redo tests and he gives you the answers basically
failed this class due to lack of interest/ lack of attendance, this man cant get me out of bed at 8 am!
Very funny, interesting teacher. Really into what he teaches which makes it a lot easier to go to class every day. Took as a summer course and I am really happy I did. Only complaint, he rarely teaches other classes. Other than that, he is really great!!
Dr. Kasserman is one of the top professors that you will find on this campus or on any other campus. His knowledge puts him with a small elite group of professors.
Buy a tape recorder and record his lectures. Take home tests. Book reviews are easy. Lectures are long, hard to take notes. Okay class.
Here is a rare gem of a Professor, smart funny and a genuinely GOOD teacher, if Dr Kasserman cant hold your interest, you are either dead or have NO business being in anthropology. The man should be cloned and his progeny trained in all subjects! He ROCKS
Great teacher but his tests are extremely hard even though he lets u take them home. Do the extra credit paper! Take his advise if you have a horrible prof. complain to the depart. it really does help!
Kasserman is awesome. His lectures are a bit eccentric, as is he. But he's cool about handing stuff in late, gives you all the answers to tests, and is fun to listen to. I had a report due the next day that I didnt have the book for. He gave me a diff book and 2 week extension! He's the man!!!!!!
hard to force yourself to be interested at 8:00.. but is a good teacher... he loves the 70's and cars... he gives all ALL take home test and 2 small papers
He's the Johnny Carson of Rowan. He's hilarious and very knowledgable of his field. I'm not a anthropology major, but he keeps me interest. Great professor!
kasserman is a walking dictionary of the world's cultures. he's brilliant and an entertaining teacher. bascially hands you the answers to the final (though i do suggest reading the last book). i def recommend this class, the teacher is great and the subject is interesting.
Talks too fast & hardly repeats himself. Bring a tape recorder. Do not take if you are late alot he starts right on the dot. He tells you the answers sorta on take home tests. Spiteful-be sure to write all info name/date/time etc. on your paper or he will take off points. Did not enjoy his class!
Organized a review session for the final and never showed up. Easy class if you read the books. I doubt he even reads the papers you have to write. Very helpful if you go to him for extra help.

Kasserman is the awesome. He's funny, and his lectures really get the student involved. Open book tests are great but remember to read the questions and be thorough he will take off points if you miss something
Few assignments, so one bad grade can screw you up; doesn't let you know how your grade is doing until the end of the semester, so you could totally be failing and not know it; doesn't give you feedback on your work, so you have no way of fixing it or knowing what he wants; lectures are boring, but he thinks he's funny and cracks bad jokes.
Bring a tape recorder and you'll be good to go. Make sure you do the extra credit, and if you can, get a hold of the assigned readings a head of time and get a head start so you wont have to worry about the papers later, it's totally worth your time.
THE CLASS IS ACTUALLY INTERESTING. SOMETIMES HE GOES OFF TRACK WITH THE LECTURES PUT YOU LEARN ALOT. HIS TESTS ARE HARD.HE REVIEWS THEM THOROUGHLY BUT HE CAN BE A VERY UNFAIR GRADER!
He's a good teacher and he's funny. The only thing is he is a HARD grader.
Kasserman is an informative teacher who sets up his class in a way that seems easy. Essentially you take notes, have tests on the notes, and do two book reviews. Be forewarned though, he grades RIDICULOUSLY HARD. No matter how good of writer you are, chances are you will not do as well as you thought.
probably one of the best teachers i've had so far. very interesting, and informal. The tests are all take home, and there are two informal book reviews. Just make sure you take good notes, and double check grammar.
Really cool guy. kinda reminded me of jack nickilson. everything is take home and book reviews. easy grader.
Nice guy, lots of corny jokes, actually says some interesting things. Can't say I've really learned much about Anthropology, but that's not because he doesn't teach it, it's because he uses really complex sentenced to confuse his students. Not bad w/grading essays, but be careful w/tests. Not a bad class. You can skip a lot too and still get notes.
Kasserman is Awesome. I loved the class. Lots of corny jokes, the material is mad easy, and attendance is optional. Take home tests, As long as you hand in papers you'll get a good grade. If your even moderatley interested then take this guy
Ridiculous grader!! I really think he takes off points for the fun of it. He's really hard to understand sometimes, so I advise you all to buy a tape recorder! I wish I had done that, cause my notes hardly make sense, he talks so quickly. He's nice, and funny, but difficult. Take him if you reeeeally love anthropology...which I didn't.
he is a ridiculous teacher. he doesn't pay attention to attendance and he is a horrible grader!! don't take him. if you have to take this take someone else or take it at a community college.
Easy B. Not really sure what you have to do to get an A. He wasn't that bad. Corny jokes but kinda kept you awake. All and all, not a bad class. Especially since it's not a big deal at all if you miss!
Att. is not taken- but the exams are off the notes. he talks alot! 2 papers, that are fairly easy. 2 TAKE HOME exams- thats are hard as hell and require work- but its college. Class is interesting and he is very bright and has alot of info. I recom. him and the class
Great professor. Lectures are funny and interesting. Gives two written assignments on "whatever you want" that he scores leniently (except for grammar, spelling, etc). His take home exams are incredibly difficult, but he lets you retake the first one, and literally gives you some of the correct word for word answers. Easy B, but not an easy A!
I had Kasserman for cultural anthropology. i really liked the class and once in a while he was funny. his take home tests are kinda hard and he takes off points for any grammatical errors (spell check won't find them). no one should get lower than a B in this course.
Worst class ever! Dr.Kasserman speaks so fast you cant keep up.Its so hard to keep interest in his endless rambling. He WAS an English major, and takes off TONS of points for gramatical errors. Two take home tests(impossible). Two papers(easy).GOOD LUCK!!
worst class i have had at rowan he rambles on during his lectures and talk so fast it is impossible to keep up with him. Gives two easy papers but they are weighted so little they are pretty much worthless. two take home exams that our impossible. take somebody else
BORING! talks all period and talks very fast. its impossible to keep up on notes and very hard to tell what information is important and what is just a tangent. 2 easy papers(check grammer) 2 hard take home tests but the day he gives them out he goes over each question. I'd suggest using a tape recorder. have fun
The points he makes are simple concepts. However, he tries to make them more complicated instead of keeping it simple. He'll say one statement & contradict that statement thirty minutes later. Therefore, my notes never make sense. We were given a long final exam and an essay due the last day. He's a picky grader, I felt I was cheated.
Class is ALL lectures. Doesn't write much on the board, so be prepared to write/type fast. Quizes are based on notes. tough grader, check your grammar before you hand in anything. 2 easy papers. lectures can get boring but most are pretty interesting. i'd recommend it for an easy gen ed requirement
He is not an easy Prof. at all he lectures the whole class and talks very fast. His tests are take home but are EXTRA HARD. I recomend to bring a tape recorder to class if you don't write fast.
Not as bad as people think. Makes alot of sense if you pay attention to his strange stories. Corny jokes...yet ironically amusing in a jeopardy humor kind of way. I suggest a tape recorder but after the first test you should know what to write down when he speaks because it is a lecture class.
He's certainly interesting. He tells lame jokes and his stories tend to be semi-interesting; I pay attention in his class, anyway. Just bring a tape recorder - there's no way you'll be able to take notes fast enough and he expects you to know exact phrases: 'Accurate descriptive data, logically analyzed, defensible conclusion,' etc.
Tests are all take home but extremely HARD. Make sure you bring a Tape Recorder to class, and be ready to get BORED.
What a great guy! Yes, his class is hard and he is a tough grader, but I learned a lot. I definitely would recommend this class! But! don't miss too many classes, you will miss A LOT of info.
This isn't a difficult class if you take good notes. Bring your laptop and/or a tape recorder if you write slowly - he speaks fairly quickly. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll want to go, because speeds through a lot of material. He's helpful & will repeat/clarify mostly anything if you've missed it. No class participation necessary.
Kasserman is organized, brilliant, interesting, fun, caring and giving. Listen in his class and go to him with questions during office hours. Greatly influenced my world view.
You'll need a tape recorder for his class! It'll save a whole lot of trouble when doing his super-hard take home tests. Try asking him question right after class since he'll practically give you the answers to everything!!
Cultural Anthropology: I enjoy his humor and frequently tell my husband funny things he said in class. Requires two cheap paperbacks. He practically gives you the answers for the take home tests and also tells you what is important so you really dont have to write down every word. Very interesting class, learning about other cultures.
He makes jokes all the time,, but speaks tooooo fast.. its hard to keep up... the class is kinda interesting and even though he does not take attendance his notes are important for take home exams..
Looks exactly like Red Forman. Write down everything he says during lecture and you'll get an A+.
Taking his summer class. I mistakenly messed up the start date and waltzed into class 2 weeks late. He couldn't care less n amazingly I didn't miss ne info. Some pple record his lectures, I write exactly what he says in my notes word for word and I have all the answers to ever test(take home). He likes jokes, even who kids say them. good teacher!
He is an awesome teacher. He does speak very quickly but you're allowed to record him. He's so nice and his class is an easy A if you attend. One of my fav. classes this semester! take him
horrible. boring and monotonous, sounds like a robot during the lecture. spouts off one-lined facts and theories the ENTIRE time. no text book but you do book reviews. gives the exam as a study sheet and goes over all the right answers. wrote down what he said word for word and got an A on the first exam and a D on the second. does that make sense?
easy! i should have gotten a c but somehow ended up getting a b? didn't have to take the final. no textbook, just book reviews. just copy down what he says when he goes over the test and you'll do fine. definitely use a voice recorder!
This professor is extremely easy especially if you know someone who has taken class before you can use their exams and notes 2 pass class. DOn't take him earlier then 9:25am he will drain you.he is so boring you don't need books u can google or use someone elses he doesn't check...very easy professor
Very good professor only have lectures take it attentively otherwise you will get lost on your take home exam. 2 books review and 1 extra credit.
Loved professor Kasserman he was so smart and loves teaching his approach to education in college is very old school. If you wanna be there be there if not its your loss. I got a low grade. But I still enjoyed every lecture
He sits infront of the class and literally TALKS the entire time. To get an A/B in this class record his lectures because his exams are ONLY from his lecture. He does review exactly what he wants you to write on the exam. so show up that day, record him and write u paper. and he is super anal about GRAMMAR!
He lectures the entire period so to get everything that he says, it is much easier to record him. He also goes over what he would like you to write in the actual exam the class period before it is due but you have to know how to put the answer into standard English. As long as you can form a coherent paragraph the class is pretty simple.
Kasserman is extremely boring. Monotonous. Annoying. Do not take at 8am.
Never ever ever again is soo confusing as to what to write down in your notes talks really fast so having a tape recorded is necessary there are 3 tests there are word for word from his lectures but if you don't know how to put it in proper grammar format you wont pass
He lectures the entire period & is very monotonous. He's a very intelligent guy but he's also incredibly arrogant. He couldn't care less about his students or how they do in his course. If you don't write his papers word for word based on what he says during lectures, you will fail. Guaranteed. Save yourself the trouble & take a different class.
He is very arrogant at times. He's an old guy who is very smart but does not care about students. He lectures the whole time. You have to take great notes. Very monotonous. DO NOT TAKE.
he is horrible. all he does is lecture. no notes. dont take him
Horrible teacher! Lectures the whole time in this MONOTONOUS tone, talks really fast, grades HARSHLY because he wants your test answers to mirror exactly what he said during the lectures. DO NOT take him. If you must at least don't pick 8 a.m. Absolutely horrible.
Lectures the whole time, confusing as to what to write down because he lectures by telling a bunch of stories that seem to ave no meaning but tie together at the end. He will talk the ENTIRE time. Harsh grader, but great guy.
This professor is a very nice guy but he is outdated, he lectures nonstop about things that lack relevance to a specific topic other the what he thinks is important. He has no class discussion he Cant use a computer and if your test answers aran't exactly what he wants to the letter he will mark it wrong even though most of HIS info is outdated.
Kasserman is an alright teacher. Some assigned readings that he mentions in his (long, dry, and lackluster) lectures. A bit pompous, and made some rash comments that he later corrects himself in his over rehearsed lecture. A do the work, pay attention, and don't skip class. P.s. Recording his lectures helped me A LOT.
Nice guy, boring lectures. Not a lot of work, just two take home exams and two response papers. Very tough grader on the exams, so make sure you're as detailed and intricate as possible and make sure the answers are exactly what he wants. You should definetly record him when he goes over the tests because he goes over each question thoroughly.
I took this class at 8am and I passed even tough I missed a lot of classes. He's a pretty good professor in my opinion and likes to makes jokes. He's a tough grader but you use the notes you take in class. Write down everything he says. Later, he lets you rewrite papers with the graded paper he gives back so you can try to get a better grade!
He lectures every single day. There is no book, homework or guidelines. You have to write everything down that he says. Then emails you the exam questions and you have to look back in your notes. Which is fine until you get your grade back and everything you said is completely wrong. He doesn't make any sense. Very boring class but paid attention.
I was at every class and recorded every single lecture thinking I would do great on the exams but he tore it apart as if anything he said during class was relevant to the test questions. He's an interesting guy but the way he grades exams is ridiculous.
You have 2 papers and two exams. The first exam is so late in the game you can't even withdraw from the course if you fail.. You would think take home exams would be easy but not in this class.
I honestly didn't find this class as bad as people are making it out to be! If you take good notes and record the lectures, you can use them for both the midterm and final. I'll admit, he grades a bit harsh, but it's not impossible to get an A if you work hard. There are also test corrections for the midterm if you mess up, which is nice!
You have to read two books and write a basic review of it which is easy. There's only two tests, a mid term and a final. He grades them very harshly. If you do not come to class, you WILL fail both the mid term and final. Never missed a class and had a hard time. His lectures are very long and trying to stay awake is hard. Wouldn't recommend him
I have never had a more monotonous and pompous professor. He is a sweet guy but tells old jokes he thinks are funny and reiterates the same thing each class. He thinks so highly of himself and generation. Most of the class he rags on the students for being the "special generation". DO NOT TAKE HIM. I regret it with every fiber of my being.
Had him for Cultural Anthropology. He gives out two tests (take home) and two papers. The papers are easy, all you have to do is write whether you liked the books or not. RECORD THE CLASSES. He encouraged you to do so. To pass this class all you have to do is show up the day of the test review and record the lecture.
He doesn't like technology so he does not use blackboard or create any powerpoints. He grades grammar but half the time you won't know how to spell the tribe names. You can go to every class and the exams will still be close to impossible. He nitpicks when he grades, and will always find something wrong with your answers. Would not reccomend
Went to EVERY CLASS wrote down his notes verbatim and even recorded what he said on review days and I still got a D. I figured it was for my wording on my exams. Got a friend who is an English major to proof read them and I got a D in the class. Claims papers are to help your grade but they're only worth 15 points vs the exams 95
Kasserman's is an excellent teacher, very straightforward. If you don't like heavy lecture and someone to push you to be a better writer then I don't suggest taking is course with him. He is a tough grader but it's only to push you to be better. Get ready to listen and take notes. QUALITY, DETAILED NOTES. Love his humor, great class!
Kasserman is a really nice guy&the class is pretty interesting. Its all lecture, the papers are easy you "read" the book and tell him what you're fav parts were. The midterm/final is given in advance and you take a whole class and he gives you the answers to go home and type-but DO NOT put it in your own words. Hand in verbatim what he says to pass
He is by far one of worst professors I've ever taken. I took all the notes he said, and wrote the answers on his exams, and failed. I'd advise no one to take his class.
He is one of the worst profs I ever had. Lectures are boring and makes no sense. Hard to take good notes. Even harder to pass the test. For the first 3 weeks of taking the class i didn't even know what anthropology was because he sucks at teaching.
Bring a flask with you if you take this class at 8 am
He is a nice guy and all, but tries so hard to be funny. Grades super hard on exams and super easy on the papers. Make sure to go to class the day he goes over the exam and record him and write down word for word what he is says on your exam if you want to pass your exams. Do not write in your own words.
The worst part of his class is the grading. He does two papers and two exams. The papers are an easy 15 points each. The exams, on the other hand, are quite frankly the stupidest things I have ever done. You WILL NOT pass them if you don't write VERBATIM what he says in class. Also, if you hate dad jokes, you are in for quite a semester...
I'm telling you to drop this class in the beginning of the semester. He is such a hard grader and does not put up your grades anymore. His class made me not make deans list. Here's everyones warning to switch out ASAP.
The class is very lecture heavy he talks very fast and it is hard to take notes. Definitely record lectures/take notes they are the answer to the essay test he goes over the answers he wants in the essay test but in a specific way. Outside text reading required
This is a required course for psych majors, so if you can avoid Kasserman - do it. There is no textbook, you have to come to every single class to know what material he went over - even if you have a family emergency. He does not use a power point or any other instructional aid and will not repeat himself so you have to write extremely quickly.
He is very difficult grader. You need to show up to every class or you will not pass. He gives out to exams and if you do not write word for word what he says in class he will take points off. He talks way too fast. I would suggest recording his class. I would not recommend taking his class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You will fail, and you wont even know because he doesnt update grades online EVER.
Ok yeah Kasserman is a tough grader and everything, but most, if not all the time he'll give you the exact answers before you take the exams or after when you do the corrections, record every class, especially the one where he goes over the test questions. He talks and goes off topic a lot, like a lot. He'll stay on one topic for like half and hour
If you wanna know what it was like to take college classes during the 1890s then Kasserman is your guy.
Even if you give all your answers in verbatim(as he wants it to be) he will still be confused by what you wrote. Take the extra credit he offers you, you WILL need it. Don't go to his class? Get ready to fail.
Prior to taking this class, I was very intimidated by the reviews of this professor. Had him for Cultural Anthropology. He talks a lot and expects you to write everything down. We had 2 book reports due and they were the easiest grade ever. Only a midterm and final, both of which were take home but make sure you listen and take notes!
