The worst professor I have ever had. When his whole class failed all of his tests he practically told us it was our fault for not "mastering" the material. He made us retake tests that we all did poorly on without going over what we got wrong. He knows his material but fails to teach his students. Do not take his class if you don't have to.
Dr. Katz is the most impossible teacher. He does not allow us to actually succeed because he does not help us when we are struggling. We ask him to help us out by giving us concepts we still need to work on and he never does. He makes us take like 3 tests per week.
Dr. Katz is an impossible professor. He doesnt explain the very difficult concepts he teaches us. His teaching style doesnt work for me, and I can safely say it doesnt work for the majority of my classmates either.
He gets a lot of flack but it's not him you have to worry about, it's the class. It's a really hard class, but he is more than willing to help anyone and he makes that clear from the get go. He sometimes offers 2 takes on exams in order to get a better score. A lot of work and can be overwhelming, but good professor who really cares about students.
Dr. Katz is a very nice person and professor , but he teaches in a style that does not work for all. He does asynchronous lectures that you are expected to watch and understand one day before the lecture in person. If you aren't exactly up to date with everything then you are instantly behind.
This class was the worst I've taken and it's not just about the workload. My biggest issue was how Dr. Katz spoke to his students. He would constantly say that we would "kill a patient" or "fail our NCLEX" if we did not do well on exams, which created a lot of negativity. Overtime these issues did improve, but it just created an awful impression.
He has definitely gotten a lot of heat from students this semester. He was new to Marquette and just didnt really know how this nursing program works. With that said, he had improved a lot over the semester and he really did care about his students and wanting them to succeed. This is meant to be a hard class and that isnt Dr. Katz's fault.
Worst professor I have ever had. Offered no help to students. He muted people on teams when they had questions. Never responded to emails and was rude to anyone who did not know what was going on, saying things like "do not blame me when you kill a patient". He once assigned homework at 2 pm on Easter and made it due at midnight with no heads up.
he does care about his students but he is just a terrible teacher. not everyone fails but you have to accept a B- or below. overall hes nice and funny, but hard class
Prof Katz is nice and funny, but is so loud for no reason. This class is content heavy and study or you will FLOP. He doesn't believe in luck, but I have been lucky on a few of those quizzes (really hard 30 point quizzes) He gives a lot of bonus opportunities and seems to care about his students. Lab is easy it is all memorization. Good luck xoxo.
He is just not meant to teach. He gives an impossibly hard 30 question quiz each Monday, mini practical quizzes, lab practical long tests, 3 pointless reading assignments with questions to complete, and midterm. He does not care if they are all on the same week. He teaches in a way that makes no sense, so you have to teach yourself. Worst class!!
Okay Dr. Katz gets a bad rap but he is not bad. The class is. This class was a LOT of info packed into one semester (it should have always been a full year class). Dr. Katz cannot help that, it's not up to him. He gave lots of EC opportunities and took lots of time out of his day to create a TON of resources for us/ was available for questions
What a terrible time I have had in this class. Anatomy and physiology is extremely difficult and consumes a ton of time. Monday quizzes every week, practicals every 3 weeks, a midterm, a final, and weekly homework. Quizlet is your best friend. Good luck having a life in this class.
Dr. Katz is a very good & dedicated professor. He supplies students with TONS of supplemental resources & is very accessible outside of class. It's a lot of material to learn in a short time, but that is out of his control. Many of those who don't do well in the class didn't show up to class and complained about doing work outside of class times.
Dr Katz is the worst professor I have ever had. When majority of the class was failing, he blamed it on us and said it was up to us to prove to him we could do better. It's a partially flipped classroom so you're expected to learn 90% of the material outside of class time from the textbook when the class itself is already 5 credit hours.
Dr. Katz is a very good professor. He spends hours outside of class, giving multiple resources for students to learn the material. The people who say he is a bad professor don't even show up to required lectures. Work outside of class is required to be successful. Dr. Katz genuinely cares about his students and their success.
He really does care about his students and wants them to succeed. The lecture is not mandatory but if you want to good you may want to show up. Anatomy is a hard class and is ridiculous that we had to do it in one semester but thankfully they changed it to two so the upcoming years will have it A LOT easier, same amount of info but in 2 semesters
Dr. Katz is a decent guy, however he is very condescending toward his students. Be prepared to do awfully all COK, which he schedules every Monday and you have to spend your entire weekend studying for. On each COK, test, etc. it is truly a mystery box for what will be on it since it feels as though most of the questions we have never seen before.
Dr. Katz is a great teacher of a difficult class. He is dedicated to student success and provides many resources for students to use. There are weekly quizzes that are heavily based on readings from the book, so make sure to read! I think the material was overwhelming for some, leading them to dislike Dr. Katz, but he has a great personality.
This class is very hard, but Dr. Katz cares a lot and is very willing to help anyone who asks. The weekly tests are challenging but not impossible if you attend lecture and study outside of class. Also, the lab is half of the class and is very easy as long as you put in the effort. Overall, I would take his classes again.
Dr. Katz is a wonderful professor who clearly has abundant knowledge in this subject. The course itself is challenging but he offers more than enough help both inside and out of class. He makes lecture engaging, and is willing to work with students who are confused. The grade you get reflects if you took advantage of the opportunities he offered.
Dr. Katz is a very very nice guy and truly cares about his students. While yes this is a challenging class, he gives us loads of resources and different chances to boost our grades with bonus. No matter who taught this class, it would still be difficult and have a lot of information. He wants all of his students to do well and is very intelligent.
This issue with anatomy is not Dr. Katz. He is a good professor who did his best to help us get through this semester. This class is beyond difficult but Dr. Katz does everything he can to help his students. As long as you are putting in enough effort Dr Katz is always there to help his students.
bc this class was so hard, lot of people blamed him but you just have to put in the work/time to receive good grade. he was an amazing professor, really cared for his students & wanted them to succeed. was more than willing to help outside of class & explain things people were confused about. Also offered tons of extra credit to help students
This class is hard, but the professor really wants you to do well in the class and he's good about emailing back quickly and answering questions even late at night. I don't think that the class is impossible to pass with an A but it might take a couple of weeks or quizzes to get the hang of it.
Dr. Katz is an amazing professor. He cares for her students and puts so much time and energy into his class. Best professor ever.
This issue is not with Dr. Katz but rather the class. Any anatomy and physiology class is going to be difficult but he does a lot for his students and cares about us doing well in school but also in general. He provided tons of resources and he also brings us birthday treats.
The class as a whole is pretty difficult as it is and I don't believe it has anything to do with Dr. Katz. He's pretty understanding and a kind professor who wants his students to succeed, he did the best he could to help us through it and provided many resources for us to get help as well.
Dr. Katz is dedicated, smart, and really cares about his students. the issue is the class is EXTREMELY difficult. but the class is A & P no matter where you go it will be one of the hardest classes you have to take. Dr. Katz is not the issue. He puts so much effort into the lectures and slides you just have to put in the work to dissect them.
the reason all of his ratings are bad is bc the class is really hard. it is not him, it is the topics we have to learn. he want his students to succeed, you will get the hang of it. pay attention in class and look at the slides outside of class. especially the pre-class. they aren't required but specific test questions are in them.
WORST PROF, so rude and legit makes the class so hard. Two tests every week, there is never time to catch your breath. I understand that the material is challenging but Dr.Katz makes it impossible to learn.
All of the good ratings on here are because he complained and was offended on our last day of class that people were giving him bad reviews. Anatomy will be hard no matter who is teaching it, but the way he teaches is so convoluted and makes so little sense, you will have to spend hours outside of class reteaching anything he tried to explain.
Dr. Katz is very caring and wants all of his students to succeed. If you put in the work inside and outside of class, he will see that and work with you to help you. There have been instances where he has allowed me to teach him back the lecture and helped me develop a deeper understanding of content before COK's which has been extremely helpful
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. Best part is he is very assessable for asking questions but when you need help with something specific he is the type of teacher to not answer your question and make you more confused. A&P is hard don't get me wrong, but Katz makes it worse. You will probs struggle even if you're smart. Enjoy the class!
Dr. Katz really cares about his job, but forgets that we are students and need to learn in a way that teaches, not reviews. Lectures were very fast paced, so 100% of my understanding was from outside time. Asking questions is hard since he can be condescending towards students. He uses many different resources so it can be hard to stay organized.
Starting A&P with Katz was very frustrating because he uses 5 different platforms. Navigating and juggling all of the different online stuff makes the content so much more overwhelming in the beginning. Each week is the same so it gets easier with repetition. Tutoring helped me because the tutors have had him before and knew what he'd test us on!
He seems scary, but he wants you to succeed and most people will!Do extra credit, preclass, review postclass, study hard+well before the exam.Cramming works, but you won't retain.Ask questions, stay after class, and make sure he knows you.He will do what he can to help you, especially if he knows you+knows you've been trying and asking questions.
The tests questions are extremely difficult to understand and the material does not always match what you learn in class. The lecture slides are immensely confusing as well. They are all filled with random pictures instead of real notes. When trying to study for the test, it is hard to piece together what was actually taught about each picture.
Dr.Katz only reads off the slides and he tries to trick you on the tests. Be prepared to learn on your own.

I can't stress enough how much you will struggle in his class because he does not teach. You will fail most quizzes/tests for the physiology portion. I failed each and every one of them and still ended up with an A . He couldn't fail everyone. Stick it out. He's the only professor for now but in the future let's hope for someone new!
Great professor, especially if you have background in anatomy from highschool. Weekly quizzes on friday, short with a lot of extra credit. Funny in lecture and gives a lot of chances for bonus points. Wants everyone to pass but the material is definitely difficult at some points.
I took Katz for Anatomy and Physiology for nursing majors. I really enjoyed the class and I think Katz is the perfect professor to teach it. Was very clear and engaging with his lectures.
Dr. Katz is a really great professor. Yes, he goes fast during lectures and his class is difficult. However, even if you study really hard 2-1 day before the test you should be fine. He also gives a TON of extra credit so it should really be impossible to fail his class. He drops your lowest test grade, so it should be impossible to fail.
Dr. Katz was an amazing professor. Coming from never taking anatomy before college, I learned so much in just one semester. He genuinely cares about his students and does check-in's during lab or even when he is lecturing. He gives LOTS of extra credit if you ever need to boost your grade and you develop great study methods for other classes.
Dr. Katz cares about his students and makes sure you understand the material. If you do not understand something he is more than willing to explain. He does not want anyone to fail. Honestly, if you have a bad grade in the class, it is on you. He gives so much extra credit it is impossible to fail. Just pay attention in class and you will be fine.
Dr.Katz is an amazing teacher! he is always willing to help during lab time and is easily accessible. Being a first-year college student this was my second time taking anatomy and he expanded my previous knowledge of AP. He does check-ins throughout the semester; you HAVE to ask for help if you need it. passing his class shouldn't be a problem.
Don't be surprised if you fail the tests almost every week.
good professor, really wants his students to succeed. lottttt of coursework and material but he gives SO MANY resources and sooooo many opportunities for extra credit. overall, i learned a lot. learn how to study before taking this class!!!
Dr. Katz is so nice and caring. He really wants the students to do well. Sometimes issues with organization or the content slides being confusing, but a few weeks in you get the swing of things. There are so many things to do for extra credit if you put in effort to do the assignments you will have an A easy. He's super awesome and cares.
Dr. Katz was overall a great professor and I enjoyed his class. There is no doubt this class is a challenge, but Katz was always there to help and provided lots of resources. If you put in the work, you will pass. I learned so much about A&P during this course.
Katz is a good teacher, some kids are just whiny and aren't willing to put in effort. Good class if you're actually following along and preparing beforehand.
After taking A&P 1 in my first semester of college, I can say that I hope it gets better. Katz's class is very easy. You read PowerPoints, make notecards, and take COKs. Katz himself on the other hand is a hellspawn and loves to make students hate their lives. He has a horrible teaching style, and constantly changes things throwing students off.

Dr. Katz doesn't do much teaching, which is hard if you aren't good at teaching yourself. He's understanding when you talk to him, and offers lots of extra credit for those who don't do well on the tests. There are tests/quizzes every lecture+lab, and pre-class videos. I definitely spend most of my time studying for this class.
This is the worst professor I have ever had in my life he can't lecture effectively and the amount of information you need to memorize and not just generally know for each class is insane. The slides you need to master literaly before you even come to class are almost 90 slides long every time. The flipped class method DOES NOT WORK for this clas
The way Katz has the class set up should be very successful. However, he executes this teaching in the complete wrong way. Also, do not expect him to be a kind and forgiving teacher. He blames everything that goes wrong in the class on the students and not himself. Also treat the bonus like an extra assignment. That saved my grade.
He is fine, I would not take him again if I did not have to, but you are kind of stuck with him. If you did not take anatomy before, be ready to spend a bunch of time a week studying for the exam every Friday. Not really an understanding professor at all, you learn everything on your own and when you ask a question he makes you even more confused.
This is a very tough class, but Katz is a very good lecturer and knows how to grab your attention. We have mini quizes every monday and wednesday, and tests every friday. He doesn't like major exams so our midterm and final ended up just being a normal friday test. If you do the preclass videos you should be fine. With no extra credit I got an A.
The class itself it pretty easy with all the extra credit he gives. However, Katz expects greatness and for you to know everything before class. It goes very fast and it is hard to keep up. He is a very nice person but i do not understand his teaching.
A lot of people will complain that his class is too hard or that he is not a reasonable professor. In my experience, I had to work very hard for his class but I found it to be very manageable. He provides great study resources, office hours, and extra credit. My best advice for people taking this class is to work more and complain less.

He does flipped classroom where you do majority of learning on your own with videos he expects you to watch and take notes on preclass and goes over said material in class for EVERY SINGLE class. please take advantage of ALL points INCLUDING bonus points (he gives a lot) and STUDY! no books were bought only 2 mandatory websites you use consistently
Dr. Katz was amazing. DO the bonus assignments, go to tutoring, watch his videos, watch the supplemental videos and you will be just fine. Dr. Katz genuinely cares
He is really nice and does care. His slides don't really make sense all the time but go to tutoring and definitely do the extra credit. Even if you bomb every test the extra credit boosts your grade soooo much.
Dr. Katz is nice and listens to his students worries. He's gone through a lot our second semester and has still been showing up for us. His flipped class was a bit stressful. I taught myself a lot but he couldnt do more than he was already doing.his extra credit boosted my grade from a 96 to 100, and you can use notecards on exams
Dr. Katz was genuinely one of my favorite professors. He would come up to me just to have a chat about anything. He knows if you're struggling and is there to help you. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It will help your grade and it extra help when learning certain topics.
There are so many extra credit opportunities given to you. DO THEM! You will succeed! It is a flipped class like BISC 2015 was. He cares and makes you laugh in class!
I liked Dr. Katz as a person and he is very friendly and encouraging. However, he did not teach me well and I struggled very heavily in this course. His tests questions are very confusing and difficult. We are expected to master two concepts every week and to take a weekly test-I did poorly because of this.

Im gonna be fr, I'm re-taking anatomy through my community college over the summer because I didn't learn anything. Yes you will be successful if are on top of the lectures, it's a flipped classroom. Now, if you are like me and the other 200 students out of 248, you won't be on top of it and that's okay. If you do the extra credit you will pass.
Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid taking his class; however, if you do all the bonus work, you will be fine and pass the class. He is so unclear with his instructions, and expects all 250 of his students to read his mind. Do not put too much pressure on yourself if you are not doing well, just do all the assigments and you will be okay.
I don't recommend taking his class, he's holds a lecture that has no point to attend. This class is the one you have to do it yourself and is very hard. He pulls questions that are not referenced in his slides and nor the textbook. His high exam grade for all his exams was a 70, so RIP your GPA if you are taking his class.
Awful. His lectures are pointless and he has zero office hours. Labs are also pointless bc you sit there and review the bones YOURSELF. 100% do it yourself. he is a person handing out 20 part videos for you to watch twice a week and expect you to know the most out of pocket questions on the exams EVERY FRIDAY. Learned nothing. marquette do better.
Dr Katz is a really smart guy but he expects you to know his expertise. I ended up withdrawing becuase he does give extra credit but it just doesnt make up for the points you do miss.
Dr. Katz is the only professor who teaches anatomy, so there's no way around him. His lectures are the same thing as the "preclass" videos. This is the type of class where you have to teach yourself. Lab is once a week and he doesnt teach. The only difference is there are skeletons that youre supposed to touch. If you cant teach yourself dont take.

Very hard class, offers a ton of extra credit, TAKE IT. Is a flipped classroom, so you basically teach yourself everything both in class and for lab. Tests do not match any materials given, so be prepared.
Everyone is exaggerating... The tests are EXACTLY the path to mastery, so write it all on your notecard. Mr. Katz is fantastic; it is IMPOSSIBLE to fail this class. He gives so much extra credit. You literally have a notecard to write all the info you want; people need to stop being so dramatic. As nurses, you'll work much harder in the future.
honestly, he is alright. not my favorite professor, not the worst I have ever had. he doesn't really teach us anything, you have to figure it out yourself. also, people are LYINGGG. the exams are nothing like the material given, & this is coming from someone who has an A. Do the ex credit, look for outside resources. you got this, its a hard class

This class was extremely difficult. It's a flipped classroom, so you basically teach yourself, and if you can't, you're on your own. The extra credits are pointless, and the exams are insanely hard. Even the note card doesn't help because nothing you study shows up. Unfortunately he's the only option.

If you want to suffer, take this class. Zero teaching, zero support, just endless self-learning. The extra credit is pointless, and the weekly exams feel designed to make you fail. I wrote everything on the note card and none of it showed up. It's ridiculous that he's the only one who teaches this course.
Imagine paying tuition just to bully yourself academically. That's this class. The professor appears only to remind you of your suffering.
Terrible professor. Zero teaching, zero clarity, and exams that feel like he wrote them in another universe. The ONLY redeeming part of this class is the surprisingly cute TA. I think his name is Sal, ily. If the TA ever teaches his own class, take it. But this professor, Dr. Katz? Avoid at all costs. You're welcome.
Personally, I felt that the reason this course is difficult is because the actual content is difficult, not because the professor is bad. It is a very test heavy class but if you show up and put at least two hours a day into studying you will pass. There are many opportunities for extra credit, you just have to put in effort outside of class.
