Took this class as a elective and loved it. No text book required. He assigns you readings on various topics and discusses them in class. Out of all my classes i learned the most from him with no homework. Grading scale isnt numbers he just wants you to understand what hes talking about. Chillest class ive had
hes an overall really funny guy and I ranked helpfulness as not at all because its a lecture with 325 kids so he can't be that helpful within class but if you go to office hours or email he will help you for sure. Theres also only like a few tests so don't screw up but if you pay attention in lectures and do the reading you're good to go. The man
Prof Kneas is HILARIOUS. Lectures include fun supplements that relate to what we are learning. He's a cool guy and makes the class fun. Take this class if you need a science credit but aren't into science. Random attendance checks so that's on you. Grade consists of 3 tests and 1 non-cumulative final that come from lecturebook. The lab is easy.
He is a good teacher, only 4 tests in the class. He takes random attendance with the iclicker.
This class was VERY easy. Grading is 3 tests and a final. Attendance is taken by an iclicker and you only need to show up for 6 but he takes about 9 checks and the 3 extra are extra credit. Tests are extremely easy but make sure you read the text book and look over power points. Make sure you show up for Grizzly Man. Great movie. Easy A!
There are only 4 tests as grades. He is super funny and if you show up and pay attention and give minimal study efforts you will pass his class. He takes attendance on random day so you do have to show up.
Pretty good teacher overall. Even though there are only 4 tests, I would say that they aren't very hard as long as you pay attention to the lecture and reread your noteslook at the power points he posts. Pretty large lecture hall so it's very easy to get distracted. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does do random attendance checks
he is hilarious and works really hard at keeping things interesting
David Kneas is one of my top favorite teachers I've had. His charm and dry humor made lectures interesting and fun and he genuinely cared about the topic. I wish I could be his friend in real life.
Awesome teacher loved the class. I still am mad though that he changed the attendance policy the last week of class to not be required.
He's a chill guy but there is a very long reading for almost every class and he likes his papers single spaced.
David is really great, it is very reading intensive, long articles for every class. Overall its a fairly easy course. He's funny and passionate. It would be pretty awesome to be his friend in real life.
He was funny
Greatest professor and class I've ever had. The course number may be wrong, but this class was Human Impact on the Environment. It's more like environmental history with relative ties to contemporary issues. Insightful lectures. Must take if you're a geography or environmental studies/science major.
TAKE HIM if you are looking for easy science credit. lectures are just going over powerpoints. tests are easy. uses iclicker for attendance. he's funny and entertaining
Interesting, easy, would recommend
Kneas is the man. Tests were pretty easy. Just pay attention to the notes from class and skim through the textbook and you'll be fine. Attendance was random but I would recommend going, He's pretty funny.
He makes having an 8:30 much more enjoyable. Uses attendance through i-clicker as extra points on tests. Very easy and understandable
Easy tests, pretty interesting and funny. Makes an 8:30 class very doable. Definitely take Kneas for ENVR 101
Take prof kneas for environmental. Hes really funny and makes class interesting. He puts the power points on black board and the tests arent hard if you study them. gives extra credit if you come to class
Be ready to read for his class. Isn't too offended with a couple missed lectures, but you will really miss a lot if you do skip. His questions in class are on another level, so be ready to put on your thinking caps. His test questions are even harder, be ready to think creatively. Make sure you read everything assigned and attend most classes.
This class was super simple. Professor Kneas is funny and willing to help if you need it. If you come to class, you get extra credit points.
Loved Prof. Kneas. He was really funny, had tons of stories, and knew what he was talking about. Only used the textbook to skim. Tests were fairly easy as long as you studied the material he said to study. Definitely would recommend this professor! Also extra credit for attending class.
Really easy class, definitely take if you can. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get extra credit if you do! Plus Dr. Kneas is really funny.
Great professor! He gives generous extra credit for attending class and it is very helpful on his tests. Really straightforward class. Textbook is not mandatory but I would recommend skimming over it in the library before a test. He will specify exactly what you need to know on every test.
One of my favorite teachers at USC. Made going to an 8:30 actually enjoyable. Played funny videos in class. Attendance not mandatory, exams all multiple choice & pretty easy. Would recommend taking.
Dr. Kneas is so cute and passionate about what he teaches. The class is easy and he has a good sense of humor. He gives extra credit and curves tests. If you show up you get bonus points on tests. He plays funny videos and makes me smile. I would highly recommend taking his class.
He posts all of his slide shows online and you can get away with not buying the textbook. attendance isnt mandatory but if you do show up you get bonus points which he adds to your tests which helps a lot. His tests are the only grades you get so study hard if you want a good grade.
Professor Kneas is a hoot! Easily my favorite lecture class. He is goofy while still being super knowledgeable. He uses the iclickers to give extra credit on the tests (which are easy if you go to class and look over the ppts-that he posts on bb). We never stay the full class time, but we always learn so much each class time. Snag him if you can!!
Take this class only if you have a serious interest in Geography. A lot of intense reading before every class! Prof. Kneas tries to bring his passion into teaching.
Very funny and cute guy. Really cares about the environment but doesn't really care if you listen or come to class. Very funny if you listen to his lectures and shows a lot of funny videos. Extra credit for clickers and coming to class. Only grades are 4 tests you take, but he gives a lot of free answers and bonuses. Easy class. Take him!
Class can be quite boring. He makes jokes here and there that are funny, but overall, lectures are still rather boring. There is no clear way to study for tests, and no homework. Just take good notes. Go to class because the extra attendance points from iClicker questions help.
Professor Kneas is clearly very knowledgable and an expert in his field but he makes sure to treat this class like an 100 level class. He is super funny and tries to make his lectures interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but showing up gives you some extra credit and the videos he shows in class are on all the exams. Really easy class.
Prof. Kneas is pretty funny and tries to keep lectures interesting. I-clickers are used in class for extra credit. His tests are a little harder than they should be and your grades is based off of only 3 tests.
Prof. Kneas is a great professor for ENVR101. He knows how to keep students engaged and tells you what you should focus on for exams. He uses iclickers for attendance/extra credit points on exams.
Dr. Kneas was really funny, but I found his lectures confusing. His PowerPoints contain little notes and mainly comics and quotes so its hard to go back and study.
He was so funny and knowledgeable, made the class very interesting, the only complain is tests are much harder than it should be. Graded by only four test, so you need to work hard to get a good grade.
Easiest class you can take at USC the tests are all on what he goes over in class, and he gives you extra credit just for going to class. Take him if you can
This class is pretty open and easy contentwise, and Kneas makes it especially interesting. He's extremely passionate about it, and you'll laugh at least once a lecture. The only complaint I have is that the course is a LOT of in-depth, long-winded readings, but if you rarely read them you'll probably pass. Interesting class, all in all.
Amazing professor! His lectures are very interesting, but aren't always directly tied to the readings (beware!). He was always willing to talk outside of class, and made a point of knowing everyone's names. There were only two tests, but as long as you show up for lectures, they aren't at all difficult. Highly recommend.
I love this man. His dry humor keeps class interesting and he's easy on the eyes. I go to class just to look at him because attendance isn't mandatory (you get extra credit for going, though).
He is very funny and sarcastic. The lectures are kind of boring but he talks about news today so it is informational. His tests are from his lectures and I think some from the textbook. He gives extra credit for attendance
There are only four tests in the class and that is all you are graded on. Prof. Kneas is really funny though and knows his stuff. He also gives you extra credit on the tests if you do go to class, or if you click in on the iClicker. I would recommend taking him though. Easy A.
Great class and amazing professor! Your entire grade is based off of 4 tests but don't worry because I went to class and hardly studied and got (with the attendance points) a 98, 96, 88, and 100 on the final that I hardly studied for and took sparse notes. He is really funny and tried to keep class interesting. I can't stress enough TAKE HIS CLASS.
Professor Kneas is such a great professor. He's funny and makes the class engaging. Grade based only on 4 tests but gives bonus points for attending class and answering iClicker questions. Tests not hard, but require you to think a little past just definitions. Show up to class, pay attention, and you'll be fine. Only opened book 3-4 times.
The class itself is pretty boring. I had a hard time paying attention other than when he plays the occasional video. He gives extra credit for attendance which is super helpful but you only have 4 exams so you have to do well on them to make a decent grade. Its pretty straightforward if you study but some of the questions were a bit tricky.
Dr. Kneas is hilarious and made lectures somewhat fun even though the material is boring. Grade was made up of 3 exams and a final, all counting for the same amount of points. He curved them, put some gimme questions on there, and gave you 1% point extra credit on exams for each class you attended. I highly recommend him.
Professor Kneas is a great professor. A little pretentious, but overall a good time. He's nice to look at, the content is interesting and he grades fairly. There are only a few assignments that determine your grade but if you pay attention you'll be fine. Take his class if you have a choice!
This class is different from most, with lectures being long but interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but important to go to class to do well. However, I enjoy going to class. He cracks some good jokes and the class atmosphere is very relaxed. Lots of long readings (but no written homework). Try to do most of the readings
if you are looking for an easy GPA booster and an east lab credit, look no further than ENV101 with Kneas. He is the most chill guy on campus and genuinely loves his students. some of the ppl in the comments say that his test are hard... but in reality, they never showed up to class lol. you get extra credit just by showing up to class.
Easy A. Honestly didn't show up enough to give a good review of Kneas but the class was easy. You get extra credit for showing up, but if you don't feel like coming you're fine. I only showed up to the exams and reviews and was all good. It depends on the student, but overall I'd say this class is easy and Kneas is a good prof.
Kneas is really laid back and has some good jokes every now and then. Attendance is extra credit and all powerpoints are posted online which is nice if you have a loaded schedule. You don't need the book despite him saying you do and he gives a lot of gimme points on tests.
Only grades are the 4 exams & attendance counts for extra credit. Easy and straightforward exams. HOTTEST PROF AT USC!!! and that's on period luv xX
He is a really nice professor, a little lecture heavy and the lectures are boring but he gives you extra credit for coming. The only grades are 4 exams and most of it is common sense.
Attendance is extra credit. Don't buy the textbook! Powerpoints are posted online and most test questions are straight from the slides. Grade is an average of all four exams. If you study and go to class, you will get an A. There are gimme questions on the exams but also some questions you'll only know if you go to class.
His class is really easy and attendance is optional but extra credit on tests. He doesn't give any work except three tests during the semester. His lectures are interesting and he cracks lots of jokes, which is fun. Overall, an easy A.
no homework for this class, just graded on exams so be sure to study. slides don't have much detail so try to listen to his lectures even though the information is really boring. he is very passionate which i admire but the material is boring. Wish he would make study guides for exams.
You get extra credit for attendance. I found the tests hard to get As on even after studying. You can easily get a B in this class though with no effort.
Attendance is optional, but you get extra credit for attending. I found the exams surprisingly hard. The third exam, nearly the whole class bombed. I studied and went to class and still struggled with exams, even though they seemed relatively simple. No need to buy the textbook.
Dr. Kneas is such a cool human being and a great teacher. He is so laid back and understanding. As long as you participate and put in effort you will be fine. He also brings snacks which is nice :) Would recommend!
I've taken several classes with Dr. Kneas and he is a great professor and person. The class is mostly discussion and requires you do the readings and participate. He cares that students learn and engage more than he cares about grades, so it's low-stress if you participate and do the work. He's very knowledgeable and has interesting lectures!
I don't usually do reviews, but Prof. Kneas is seriously awesome. He really wants his students to succeed and is willing to help you out in order to. He can be a bit disorganized at times but in turn, accommodates for that. I would love to take Prof. Kneas again but I only had him for a gened!
Pretty awesome prof. His original schedule kinda went to crap but he gave us LOTS of time to do things. Vey kind in emails. My only complaint is he talks slow but speed his lectures up to 2.0 and you'll be fine. Also loved his political additions/ comments in lectures. Totally take him!
Professor Kneas is a great professor and he wants to see his students succeed. His schedule gets off sometimes, but if he is late posting the lectures, then he will give you extra time to complete the quizzes. The exams are straight forward as long as you watch the lectures and study you will do well!!
Solid option for ENV101. Do well on the quizes and exams and you will be fine. He gave 30 free extra credit points before the final.
Kneas is a good professor. The material he lectures on is the material he tests on. He has a monotone voice but top notch dad jokes. He was sometimes behind on posting things to blackboard, but always made it right, and always responded to emails within 12 hours. I fully recommend Kneas, it would be harded to fail this class than to pass with an A.
If you are in need of a science credit and plan to take environmental, THIS professor! I cannot stress enough how amazing he was. I did not have to do much work at all in this class and received "an easy A". Do your work weekly and everything is open notes.
Um I took this class thinking it was gonna be an easy A, but it is in fact harder than accounting. He makes up test questions and tries way too hard to be funny. I wouldn't take him if you want an A
Nice guy with great dad jokes. Lectures in a monotone voice. Grade is based off of four exams. No busy work. Attendance not mandatory but definitely show up for lectures.
Take this professor for ENVR 101. Only thing that counts are exams and attendance, and you only need to show up to 12 classes to get an A. He knows his stuff and cares about the students.
No homework to do, just needs to study hard before the exam. But I don't recommend his lecture since it's boring. I don't wanna be critical, but he is literally not a good joke teller.
decent easy class, no homework and as long as you go to 12 classes total you get an A for attendance. tests are open note but somewhat difficult and questions are confusing sometimes. emailed him 3 times and he didn't respond to one of them.
There were nearly 300 people in my class, so naturally this course was lecture-heavy; however, Professor Kneas made the lectures interesting by incorporating videos, dad jokes, Saturday Night Live skits, and real work examples into his lectures. I had 4 tests worth 25% of my grade each. If you show up to class and study a little, the tests are easy
Professor Kneas was one of my favorites this semester. His class is very easy, the notes cover everything on the test, and the content is very palatable. He does post the notes online, but some slides won't make sense because he sometimes only puts pictures and talks about the pictures. Overall, this is a easy class and he is an amazing professor.
Good professor overall. Take good notes on the lecture and pay attention. He is very open to help. Two 1300 word essays (midterm/final). That was pretty much it besides some discussion posts that we had on BB. Class is really boring and dry but overall an easy A if you pay attention.
He is clearly super passionate about what he teaches and his research and travel experience is so interesting. Love him dad fr
Very easy class to get your SCI credit. exams are taken on your own time by yourself. hes very passionate about his lectures and definitely knows what hes talking about. lectures can get a little boring but not horribly. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend you go because everything he talks about in class is on the exam.
Professor Kneas was one of my favorites professor. His class is very easy, the notes cover everything on the test, and the content is very easy to understand. He posts notes online, but some slides won't make sense, due to sometimes he only puts pictures and talks about the pictures in class. So I highly recommend you go to class! He is awesome!
The only grades in this class is attendance and exams. You only need to go to 12 classes for an A though. All powerpoints are posted and exams are on Blackboard without a camera. Such an easy class.
Took him for Carolina Core and he was good. Only graded on 4 exams with gimme questions, extra credit and no busy work. Kinda drones on for a bit and a little boring but he taught us interesting information. Lectures are posted online but they are mostly pictures so you need to go to lectures to understand them.
Took him for Carolina Core and really liked him. Not a difficult class, your grade consists entirely of four exams and as long as you go to class 11 times and do well on the (relatively easy) tests you'll get an A. Knows his stuff, he's actually funny in a dad way, and gives a ton of random extra credit points. Good guy, and a good prof.
Prof Kneas only grades you on 4 exams taken throughout the semester but if you go to class you will be adequately prepared for them! The lectures are super interesting and he is super funny.
Professor Kneas was super nice and explained concepts very well. The exams were online and if you studied then you should be fine. I do recommend that you attend all classes because the lectures do not have any words on them most of the time and you will not know what is going on if you do not listen to him in person explain everything. Great guy!
Nice professor, made class interesting, no matter what anyone in the reviews say his jokes will always be funny
Kneas was such a slay. He was so chill. As long as you take notes (on his slides AND what he's saying), you'll kill it, easy breezy lemon squeezy. He was randomly funny too, laughing to himself over vids that you know he's seen a billion times before. Tests were online and weren't bad! Need iClickers for participation grade.
Attendance was up to you, but if you don't show up, you will not pass. He provides a slideshow of notes but gives more info than what is on them...which is then used in the exams. The overall grade was based on 4 exams and attendance. No busy work. Your grade is up to you basically. He makes dad jokes and is a decent person.
Attending the lectures will make this class super easy! Take notes because some of the slides don't have words. The tests are taken on your own time and come from the slides and notes you take in lecture. Overall an easy class if you actually go.
If you're a bad test-taker, maybe try a different course. However, Dr. Kneas is very funny and can be engaging with his classes. Easy A.
Prof. Kneas was great! Super funny guy and genuinely cares about what he is teaching. Exams were online on Blackboard so super easy. Grade is based on exams, but you have to attend class like 12 times with iClicker to get an A. Overall good class, professor tries to make it funny and engaging for students! I would recommend taking this course!
He is great! He makes the class fun and entertaining. You don't have to attend every lecture. Exams are easy and virtual. He also gives extra credit on exams!
Great professor! Relatively easy tests, no homework or class assignments, so grade is only based on tests and attendance. Lecture heavy but he is engaging. Def recommend
Nice guy who tries his best to make sure his students enjoy his lectures. Gives out lots of bonus points, no homework, and take home test. 10/10
Overall he was my favorite professor this semester. Take his classes if you can. He's awesome
Easy class if you go to his lectures and pay attention.
Best professor ever. Makes jokes throughout his lectures, clearly cares a lot about the subject. Only have to attend a little of half the classes, but he's very entertaining so you won't want to miss. Definitely would recommend I
I really loved him for my first semester freshman year class. You don't have to show up to lectures, and everything he does in class is posted online. Very easy A. I would recommend going to classes though, since he is pretty funny. It can get boring but he's a cool guy.
If you have to take a science course definitely take it with Dr. Kneas! This was a very easy course and the exams were extremely easy! He takes attendance for 12 classes to be guaranteed an A in the class. He also posts the lecture slides online. Very cool guy!
Dr Kneas is great. If you want an A, you only have to come to class 12 times throughout the semester. Your grade also includes extra credit and 4 exams. The exams are on blackboard with no lockdown browser. Although the lectures can be boring, he is a pretty funny guy and if you go and take notes in class, the exams are fairly easy.
Very funny lecturer and a nice guy. If you take this class go to class on days when there won't be a lot of people, he gives out a ton of bonus points. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to attend a certain number of classes to pass, and the bar is very low. All around easy class and fun for the easy A.
He is a wonderful professor. Lectures are always posted, understandable concepts to follow. Is relaxed about attendance and gives lots of time to take the exams. Final grade is composed of 4 exams and attendance but if you take good notes you will do great. Such a great professor take him if you can!!
Professor Kneas is great! This class was very easy to pass. You only have to show up to class 12 times and check in to IClicker to receive an A for attendance. All exams were on blackboard with no lockdown browser. Class could get very boring but overall great class.
Great guy! Learned a lot. Definitely asks some leading questions in class to get his desired points across. 2/3 of your grade is determined by midterm and final essays.
Definitely a very lecture heavy class, but he makes the lectures interesting and engaging. Exams and notes can be a little difficult due to the class pace.
Literally best professor I have ever had. Incredibly funny and his class is very easy to pass as long as you show up. He mad envr so fun to learn about
Good class to just get your science class over with. In the grade book there is only 4 tests and attendance, so very test heavy. But if you pay attention the online tests are easy. He tries to make class as entertaining as he can and is very passionate about environment. Even cancelled class for 2 weeks to go on a research trip out of the country.
Honestly no notes. Such a funny guy. Would literally give extra credit if someone sang or did accents in front of class. Somehow made an 8am on Mondays actually enjoyable.
All of the exams for this class are online. Attendance is mandatory for 12 classes, but then it is not mandatory. Very lecture and exam heavy. there are only 4 exams for the course but he is very lenient and offers extra credit.
He is super funny, and tests come straight from his review lectures, so it matters to go to class and get the attendance points. He gives extra credit for talents, and it is very easy to get an A if you try and show up to some classes; tests are all online as well.
Very simple course and great for credit if you need it. Your grade is made up of 4 completely online exams. He does offer some extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but you need to go around 12-14 classes to get an A (iclicker). Overall, good course for what it is.
