We're only in our fifth week but I've never enjoyed English the way I'm enjoying Mr. Lacy's class. I never really liked English before actually. Mr. Lacy cares about his students you can really tell. He's there early and stays after. He's also pretty funny in class which makes time go faster.
Lacy is the best! His expectations are clear. It's possible to fail but you'd really have try since he provides many opportunities for revisions and out of class help. Before his class I felt like my writing hadn't really improved through all of high school. During his class I feel I improved more in one semester than in the past couple years.
David Lacy is the best professors I've had at Folsom Lake. He's quick to answer any questions you have about subjects in and out of class. Gives great feedback on essays. My favorite thing about David is he goes far beyond being your professor. He really cares for his students and makes sure that they are happy and healthy college students.
He's an awesome guy, and a great teacher!! Would highly recommend taking his class!!! (plus you get to watch a TON of movies and videos!!)
I haven;t had so much fun in an English class before. There are discussions, debates, and grammar jeopardy! You watch clips from documentaries and short, funny videos that connect to what you're discussing in the class.
I have had the pleasure of having this Professor for both English 101 & currently in his summer English 300 class. He honestly makes English fun and puts it in a way where everyone can connect and understand. I wish I could have him for every subject! He honestly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His feedback is awesome!
Amazing, the best professor I ever had.
Can I just take every subject with Lacy? I don't think I've had a teacher in high school or at FLC more caring than Mr. Lacy. He gives good feedback, He's always in the room early talking with the students. He's funny. He's a little off-syllabus but he says he's teaching more classes than he usually does. Time flies in his class and I'm never bored
Professor David Lacy makes himself available in order for his class to succeed. He almost immediately responds to emails and offers great critique on essays and assignments. He makes class enjoyable and I really gained confidence in writing. He gives a big workload, but its all worth it because he helps you to really learn.
Take Lacy and you won't be sorry. He'll tell you he's a hard grader and it's true, I got a C on my first essay I had spent a lot of time on. But he'll tell everything you need to do to improve. I went from a C to an A on the second paper. And like others have said he's just fun and caring. You'll enjoy going to class most days.
Overall he is a great professor. He teaches the excellent material and also he always has useful information. He is one of those teachers who grades your work and doesn't force you to do his own way.
I've taken many of David Lacy's classes, including his online ENGWR 301 class and ENGLT 311, both of which I enjoyed. The discussions are usually substantial and the readings are all mostly interesting (if you like reading).
Lots of reading, writing assignments aren't too hard but the regular quizzes are specific to the texts assigned. Teaches a liberal agenda in the class, so if you don't appreciate being taught one-sided views, this isn't the class for you.
Allows freedom of subject choice for writing assignments. Great sense of humor and approachable. Am taking two classes of his this semester and have learned a lot!
Online class. Weekly assignments were emailed to us and that was it for the term. Lots of reading assigned. Easy class if you do the work. Nothing was ever returned, so I never got feedback and I had no idea what my grade would be until it was posted to my transcript. If you dont mind stuff like that then take the class, do the work, and easy A.
Had heard good things about Professor Lacy so I took his online, 302 summer class. I wasn't disappointed. The reading was through the roof but we were notified regularly of assignments, and given a descent amount of time to complete drafts and quizzes. A couple discussions got me re-thinking some things I thought I knew. Great way to get 302 done!
Lacy is totally on top of letting the class know about upcoming assignments and expectations via email, and is quick to respond to any questions regarding the class or homework. Though there was a good amount of reading, it was definitely worthwhile and super interesting. For an online class, it was well organized and taught.
The best at FLC! Take him if possible!
Love Lacy. I've taken him for 3 classes -- I'm an English major, so I took him for comp, Brit Lit and creative writing. He's funny and caring and he obviously loves what he does. Take him if you can, even if you're not an English major.
Best professor Ive had! He is funny and makes class very enjoyable. You do have quizzes on readings, but they are not hard as long as you read. They are just quick summaries of what you read. You have class discussions and arent forced to participate which is awesome. However, you get participation points by showing up.
This is my second class with Professor Lacy. I had him for 101 last year. Sometimes I just sit in class in awe. It's like watching a stand-up comedian that inspires you. And then he's awkward and shy at other times. The workload is managable but you do have reading due nearly every class. It's broken into managable pieces though. I recommend him.
I ADORE David! He's what teachers should be! He cares about his students success and works with you to ensure that! He's flippin' HILARIOUS and picks reading material that's actually interesting and makes you think. He gives excellent feedback. He can be a bit controversial but he's respectful. I would take him again just for fun!
Lacy spends at least one class of each course discussing the role empathy plays in both persuasive writing and lit analysis. As an English major, I find these discussions inspiring, and I've taken ideas from the classroom out into the real world, in a conference setting (I presented a paper at SacState), in volunteering, and in my personal writing.
Take David in person rather than online because his personality and approach to teaching is what makes him so unique. He's super helpful and funny. Lots of writing and reading pretty much every class, but it's paced out in a way that you can manage it.
If you want an easy A take him. If you want to actually learn something try someone else.
Prof Lacy is very laid back, caring, and hilarious. We had a total of four papers in the semester and read a book & several short stories from our textbook. Overall, I enjoyed taking David's class especially because he engages the class during lecture. However, I wish he used canvas because sometimes I was confused about due dates of assignments.
David is empathetic and passionate about what he teaches, which is visible from the first day of class. However, it is extremely difficult to get in contact with him outside of class - he does not use Canvas or reply to emails. Your grade is mostly determined by 3 research papers, and he is a slow grader who gives little feedback.
Woot! Just finished short story this morning. Best class ever. Everyone bonded and it was a genuine treat (like a break from other schoolwork) to read so many great stories and then discuss them collectively. A lot of writing, but they're broken up into 10 smaller assignments. Take Lacy if possible!
Professor Lacy is someone that provides a great deal of insight into what he teaches and is passionate about it. He's funny, easy going, and has a good rapport with students. The lectures he give are both entertaining and relate to the struggles that students are going through, and I find him to be an excellent source of knowledge for literature.
I decided to take EnglishLit with David Lacy because I have taken him before for many classes and had wanted to take him again since he is a great, funny and understanding professor. He keeps the class engaged by having class discussions on the content we read that makes you think critically. Be prepared for some reading but its not much at all.
Pretty bomb, he was super funny in class and very personable!
Professor Lacy is a very different professor but that is a good thing in my opinion. He is very caring and wants you to learn, I feel like I actually learned something from his class that I can apply to all of my life. He will open your eyes to subjects and different issues that you didnt know existed and you will be better for it. A great prof.
David is an outstanding teacher and I highly recommend his class. His funny personality will make you want to attend everyday and be involved in discussions. In order to do well in this class you have stay up to date with quizzes, and work hard on the assigned essays. David is a great teacher and gives grades depending on comprehension/work ethic.
David lacy is an amazing professor and he's also very funny
Great teacher! Very friendly and funny. I took two of his classes, and noticed that he had a lot of repeat students. Gives plenty of time for all assignments, and always has interesting lectures. Just don't blow off any of the papers- he'll let you write about practically anything if you can turn it into a good essay, so it's not hard to do well.
Lacy is the kind of teacher who makes a blended class, like this one, which fused English and History together much more enjoyable. Outside of class he is approachable, and he responds to emails promptly. He's also very understanding of things like the light rail running late and traffic accidents. He's my personal favorite teacher at the colleges.
Professor Lacy is one of the BEST teachers I have ever had! He is super funny and cares about his students. He tries to relate to his students alot! He also has many engaging discussions that make you think. He adds humor into his lectures when he can to make them fun! Take his class - you wont regret it!! I would definitely take his class again!
He's incredibly funny, and he shares a lot with his students. He enjoys his subject, so even if you don't care about his class you should have a ton of fun. There's a lot of reading and writing required, so if that's not for you maybe avoid this course. But it's a film class. You spend a ton of time just watching movies. Best class decision I made.
This English class should be a sociology class. All of the reading assigned is all about the social divide in America and he has not actually taught anything about English the entire semester. He assigns papers to write and critiques them but does not teach on the things he mentions. If you struggle with with writing this is not the class for you.
I've taken two WRITING classes with Lacy, and it's true that in those classes, he isn't teaching "English." 302 is the last class I took with him and it's a research writing class. He's teaching research, critical thinking, source evaluation, MLA. Take him in-person if you can. He's really funny.
Professor Lacy manages to do the impossible - he makes English fun! If you want an ENGWR300 course that you will actually learn from and enjoy, then you need to take his class. He has his student's best interests at heart and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I'm even planning on taking his ENGWR302 class as soon as he has one!
Definitely a good sense of humor with a great amount of knowledge! Fair grader. Definitely would take him again. Take him!!!
Lacy is one of the kindest profs out there. He's easy to talk to, funny, easily embarrassed (it's worth watching lol). He inspired me to become an English major. You will learn how to think for yourself in his classes and have more fun than you realize until the clock runs out on each lesson.
Didn't realize how little about writing I learned in this class until I took one with a different professor. He conducts it more like a literature class than a writing class. He is nice, super chatty, and an easy A if you already know how to write at a college level.
You'll be reading a lot. He's one of the most caring and approachable profs I've had in college. Like others have said he's pretty funny too.
Professor Lacy taught the best English class I've ever taken, he's respectful, patient, and likes to crack a few jokes, completely unlike the English class I took before Lacy's that I had to drop, definitely my favorite teacher of the 2020 spring semester
Professor Lacy is very accommodating and helpful when you ask him questions. However, I took this course online and could tell it was not very structured. It took a long time for me to receive a grade on the assignments and by the end of the course I didn't know what my grade was. If you stress about grades, I'd wait to take his class in person.
I took him online after my older sister had him in person and you can tell he prefers the in-person style of teaching. But he was the easiest of all my teachers to get ahold of quickly when I needed to. He was polite and patient -- he even held a virtual Thanksgiving for those students who wanted more social time with classmates! Recommend!
Awesome Professor. He was my first professor and he definitely makes it easy. Do the work then you get your grade. I would love to take more classes from him!
Even with the power outages near mine and some of my friends houses, and the pandemic, Professor Lacy continued to be as accessible as he could given the crazy times.
Online class, before zoom was being used, there was no involvement. No interactions other than the occasional video. English and writing aren't my best subjects, so being left to figure it out on my own sucked.
Both my mom and I took this class to get our general education out of the way but this class was actually very good. Be prepared to be challenged intellectually because this professor wants you to have sources for your information. One thing he says that anything he says usually isnt wrong and hes telling the truth. Critical thinking is key.
David Lacy has been my favorite professor across my two years of attending FLC. He's very personable and professional at the same time. His teaching is simple to comprehend, and he is always willing to help his students succeed.
I've never laughed so much while reading and writing, so David, you must be doing something RIGHT/WRITE.
He is a good professor, but he is really bad at responding to emails and getting grades out. I asked him about 10 times for my grade in the class and he never responded back to me. The class is very easy but, if you wanna know your grades you have to really bug him.
Ive taken all 4 of my English classes with David, if the Number of classes cant speak for his over all amazing ethic as a professor then this review can: His grading is very easy, If you have questions he will not hesitate to go above and beyond to answer, he works with you as you communicate and honest. Syllabus and class is pretty simplified
This is the worst professor I've had all semester and through the online experience. David did not grade a single assignment all semester other than our first essay! What is the point of assigning a rough draft without feedback!LOL. If you want a professor that doesn't care about their student's success, he's the one for you. Would never recommend!
Probably one of the most empathetic teachers during the pandemic. Thank you, Mr. Lacy!
Professor Lacey was absolutely inspirational and pivotal to the success of my semester at FLC. His lecture content was awesome and thorough. I can only pray that I have Professor's like him in the future to guide me on my educational course. He made difficult subjects easy to understand and allowed for personal growth.
Prof. Lacy is a very interesting human who truly cares about your success. He can come off overly sarcastic but it's clear he truly means well and cares about you. He is willing to work with you and your needs as long as you're willing to prove you want to succeed and are trying your best. I would recommend him highly and I've truly loved his class
I have never had such an amazing experience with a professor. I went through a lot of personal things during my semester while in David's class, and to say he bent over backwards to help me pass his class was an understatement. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone who asks about finding the best English professor at FLC.
Professor Lacey was sometimes so fast in answering emails I just assumed he had them going directly to his phone. He was accommodating but fair during a couple of stressful emergencies. He's itching to get back into the classroom, and when he is I'm all signed up to be there for English 301.
Lacy is my favorite professor and his classes are always fun and informative. He is hilarious and creates a safe and comfortable environment in his classes. The work load isnt too much, there is a need for participation because the class is mostly discussion based. I will be taking more of his classes!
Prof Lacy is such a solid professor. He provides quality feedback on essays. He's definitely the best eng teacher I've had. It was pleasant being in class because he encouraged us to be a community. This was my first and only in-person college course I've experienced and it did not let me down. We got to watch good movies, read cool material.
I wasn't sure what to think while this class was "meeting" remotely but after the first two weeks in person it's already my favorite class and my favorite professor. The main textbook has some difficult chapters but he breaks down the lectures in really accessible and even funny ways that draw you in. Take him if you get the chance!
This was my first college class in person and I am so happy I took it with Professor Lacy. He's funny, keeps class interesting, and cares about your success. Our tutor, Bradley, was also amazing. Work with him and the tutor and you'll do fine!
Professor lacy is one of my favorite professors. This is the second class I've taken with him and he never fails to disappoint. His in-person classes are discussion heavy but it's very entertaining. He required 3 essays but is a relatively easy grader. My favorite class this semester.
This is my second English class with professor Lacy. He again never fails to disappoint. Participation is required for his class, but each and every class was enjoyable to be in. He is very hands-on with his students and strives to get to know each and every one of his students on a personal level. We had three essays in the class all fairly.
He was my favorite professor I had at FLC. He cared about the well being and learning of his students. I had him in person and I ALWAYS looked forward to his class. Intriguing discussions & class lectures/projects & not overloaded with homework. 100% recommend Professor Lacy! He didn't put grades in canvas but he'd let you know if you asked him!
Professor Lacy was one of my favorite professors Ive had so far. His feedback was always kind and helpful. In the summer course he assigned four essays, we read one novel and then had two discussion posts and multiple reading quizzes which just entailed summarizing specific chapters we read in the novel and the essays. 11/10!
This is what I imagined a college class to be after a year of taking only online classes. Dr. Lacy is funny and thoughtful at the same time. There was a lot of reading. Short stories, some poems, one play, and a novel. But he breaks it down in a way that's easy to understand.
I took his summer course and it was pretty much just writing 4 essays in the span of eight weeks. His grading was kind of hard and so I had to put a lot of effort into my essays to get an A. He takes a long time to give you your essay grade back. His lectures were a little confusing.
I took two classes with Professor Lacy this semester, 301 and British Literature 310. I would recommend both to anyone though 301 is the one most people need to transfer. I had some interest in some of the readings in BritLit before taking the course but Professor Lacy made nearly all of the assignments come to life in fun and impactful ways.
Easy A as long as you meet his simple requirements. Most of each session was discussion-based in groups of our choosing and used thought-provoking questions. He facilitated more broad and diverse conversations using helpful videos along the way. Overall, if you wish to better analyze any literature, his classes are the way to go! :)
Professor Lacy strikes a great balance of outside work and in person class discussions. The homework never felt like burden to do, and everything that we did felt like it was relevant to the course. He gave plenty of time to work on the assigned papers and offered convenient office hours if you needed help with writing.
David Lacy has been my favorite professor at this school! He is great for adaptive learners. He promotes critical thought and engagement. He creates a super friendly and supportive class atmosphere. During the weekend he moonlights as the loch Ness monster. He is a big fan of the Oxford comma. 10/10 would and have taken this teacher again.
David Lacy is a professor that wants students to succeed for their own sake. Many professors teach lazily so that they can get paid with the least amount of effort. David Lacy is excited about what he does and will try his best to make sure you do to. Also the class is actually fun and I learned something which is rare. He's the Loch Ness Monster.
Professor Lacy is one of those instructors who makes you want to come to class. Each day felt like a lecture, a Ted talk, and a standup comedy show all rolled into one. There's a lot of reading, and the book Divide is somewhat difficult at times, but there are discussions throughout the semester to help you work through it. Take Lacy if you can!
Professor Lacy is wonderful! I really enjoyed his classes. I took two of his courses and enjoyed them both.
He is awesome
I learned more about my writing in one semester with Lacy than all of high school. And going to class is actually enjoyable!
Awesome. His pace was great for an 8 week summer class of English writing. His prompts were easy to read, and he is very clear that if you do the work you will pass. I was struggling with the essays I sent to him opening on his end, he worked with me, and gave me great feedback, I'm bummed his English Writing class 302 was full for fall semester!
Took him for ENGWR 301 in Spring. The class was pretty easy for me but his grading style was weird. He just told me the essay grades in his feedback without actually recording them in the Grades tab of Canvas. The reading quizzes were just graded as pass/fail without any actual point value. I never got graded on his discussion boards either.
I was recommended David Lacy by a previous student of his, and I am glad I listened. He has a real passion for English, and has cultivated his course to try and share that passion with his students. Whatever you put into his class is what you will get out of it. He won't hand out an A, but he will help you earn one. Textbooks were very affordable!
Prof. Lacy is an awesome professor, but he is very tough grader. If you take his class, make sure your papers are perfect before submitting them.
One of my favorite classes this semester. Lacy is super personable and very lighthearted. He starts class by asking us about our days or weekends, which is always a nice way to start off. Tells you exactly what he wants to see on your essays while also giving you creative freedom on them. Overall super recommend this class.
Lacy is a really chill dude. Most of the time it felt like busy work. Very reading-heavy, each week there was an excerpt we had to read, but it was quite simple. We only had to write summaries on it, showing that we completed the reading. The essays were quite easy and exactly like the rubric.
David is one of the best teachers at FLC. I took him for 300 online and then 302 in person. For 302, you work on 3 essays and an annotated bibliography on the same topic for the whole semester. The last two are pretty long but it doesn't matter because coming to class is FUN. And how did it take so long in life for me to learn information literacy?
One of those rare professors. You don't even get to choose amongst professors when this prof. is available. I will not be able to take him for the next ENGWR301, so, don't miss this amazing professor if you can. Participation, doing every quiz will get you an A. I think when you're on your phone he sees that and marks it as non-participation.
The professor is great. Took him for engwr 302, and I loved participating in the class.
Super good Professor, I loved taking his class. The reading was fun and so was the writing. Although there was a lot of reading, I felt that it was well spaced and he gave us a lot of time to write and read. It was a good class and he's a good teacher. I enjoyed the class a lot.
Slow grader. No feedback. Chill professor. Do the work and you'll pass. Gives extra credit.
I wasn't sure what to expect. I never did well in my high school English classes and I think as a result I never enjoyed the subject. This class was the most I have ever enjoyed reading and writing. And that's something I never thought I would say. Gave lots of feedback in person, in one-on-one sessions while the class discussed reading assignments
Lots of reading, and many writings. There were 4 main essays worth majority of points, and writing quizzes almost every class. He's a slow grader, as the semester is already over, but I still don't know my grades for last 2 written essays. Get ready to do lots of work, including participating in class discussions. But overall nice professor.
David Lacy is a wonderful professor. His ENGWR 300 class is not "difficult," but the essays can be time consuming. 75% of your final grade is based on four essays, with the final essay worth 25% (1000-1500 words are required per essay). Reading quizzes will be given weekly, but they're all free writes, so if you finish the reading it's an easy A.
Good class and content, you'll read some very fun books. Not hard to get an A. Prof can be funny, but also a jerk. Said some rude things a few times to my group. He will also be annoyed by the slightest noise or movement lol. At times class felt like a time for prof to hear appraisal on his life. He rubbed me the wrong way all semester
Prof. Lacy is probably one of the best professors I've had in college. I've had a couple classes with him, both in person and online. I've found that his teaching style is fairly relaxed, as long as you aren't a distraction to other students. He always gives honest feedback about your work for better or worse, and shows you how you can improve.
AMAZING ! created such a great learning experience for me. Was very personable and easy to work with. Participation is essential in this class and he loves it ! Lots of extra credit opportunities as well. Just read and show up on time and you will have success !
This professor was one of the best I have had at FLC. His lectures were relevant and entertaining, and he was accommodating for my busy athlete schedule. I received excellent feedback on my essays. I'm planning on taking him for the rest of my English classes. It was a low stress schedule, and he was a wonderful professor!
I dont think I've ever had a professor that made me think more critically about the world then Lacy's ENG 300 class. He's a genuinely great guy who cares about the successes/shortcomings of his students. The homework is manageable consisting of reading and mandatory essays for the course. A great teacher to have and I strongly recommend his course
You get whatever grade you put the effort in for. Really easy to pass have to work for an A. Quiz writeup every class on the reading free points if you read. Chill, kinda funny guy, very liberal, treats everyone fair though regardless of beliefs. 4 Essays and 2 books. A month per Essay. About 2 chapters of reading in between every class session.
I loved Professor Lacy's class. If you do well, he gives you a good grade. Great feedback on all my essays. Also he lets you write about whatever you want. My first essay was on my high school best friend and two essays were on Taylor Swift. Let's you have fun within the parameters. If you need to take College Comp, take it with him.
Enroll with Professor Lacy, you'll thank yourself later. English writing=essays + manageable amount of reading & summarization. This course was reflective, therapeutic, and deeply inspiring. He was willing to work with me to help me succeed with tons of grace for personal issues that came up.Fair grader.Tudors & T.A.s 100%. Easy extra credit. Loved
I don't like most online classes but I had Professor Lacy for English 300 and it was my favorite class that semester and when I saw he wasn't going to be teaching in person this fall I jumped on this one. There is a lot of weekly reading, but he's understanding of needs and concerns if you communicate early and often.
I'm just adding to the sea of positive Lacy supporters - he is such an awesome person who will genuinely and fairly review your paper. He gives many chances to succeed and will give real feedback that is just concise enough. Just a funny and real person; something that is rewarding to get
Great professor, took his online course he made things very clear. Not a heavy workload, had a total of 4 essays throughout the semester but only required 1000 words.
I enjoyed having prof Lacy for ENGWR 301, be prepared to read all the material he gives. You will be writing summaries as your reading quizzes. If you read the material, it will be easy to do well on quizzes. He offers extra credit, and grades fairly. A very understanding man, if you keep it real with him, he will help you as much as possible.
Professor Lacy is very organized, graded quickly. 4 essays got progressively harder. Read a novel with reading quizzes every week or so. Quizzes were just summarizing the chapters read and I never got less than 100. I literally wrote 2 of my essays the day they were due and got 100 on both. So not sure if he's really the hard grader he claims to be
I was worried about an online class that was going to read Macbeth and other poetry. The professor had bonus q and a office hours for both that helped a lot. The book The Four Winds was really good!
He's probably a great professor for an online course because it's an easy class, but I felt my time was wasted going in person. He puts on movies to watch during class. He uses his platform to express his lib beliefs and life stories and should put more effort into being an Engwr teacher. To conclude positively he seems to care about his students.
Reading the comments -- the class wasn't easy for me. But writing doesn't come easy to me. So it was a lot of work just to barely get a B. But I learned more than I have in other writing classes. I find myself working on sentence concision even in emails now.
I returned to school after taking nearly a decade off and Lacy's class is exactly the motivator I needed to get back on track. He was willing to work with me before and after class as well as during office hours which he would sometimes hold in the classroom itself. It was actually fun going to his classes.
Super nice guy. A couple of long research papers but you have a good amount of time for them. Other than the essays pretty much no homework besides a chapter reading.
I had a wonderful time in this course! Just enough reading, writing heavy. He gives options early on between which readings you want to elaborate on. Extremely forgiving and understanding, I felt 100% supported. You WILL write multiple essays, not overwhelming, comes with his support for edits and tutors as well (which you get extra credit for).
If you use your time wisely and write good essays, this class is not too bad. Prof. Lacy is evident and good at leaving feedback. He grades very well as well.
Professor Lacy runs a challenging yet rewarding class. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the readings and essays. I found unstuck study's summaries and study tools really helpful for preparing. Overall, a great learning experience.
W prof take him
Professor Lacy is a great professor his class is run on a book that you will have to read, with a lot of class conversation and a couple essays through the term. The class isnt a big load of work if you stay on top on or the essays. The professor tends to offer extra credit opportunitys and great feed back on essays. He's also some times funny.
This is a great professor that cares about his work, but that doesn't mean he is a hard grader. He will reward your writing if your structure is good. This is a English 301 class, He knows you are not a professional writer. He gives adequate times for essays and would reduce workload so we could focus on our essay. I highly suggest his class.
Did a research proposal, a historical analysis paper, and an advocacy paper - encourages usage of logos and ethos in papers. Read one book which had a free write in replacement of a reading quiz per chapter. Watched three movies. He intertwines Youtube videos mixed with wit and educational. Discussion heavy - fun, thought provoking, challenging.
I've taken Prof. Lacy for both English 300 and 302. He is one of the best professors at FLC. No homework besides three essays and reading assignments. Clear grading criteria and essay prompts. Also, he really challenges you to become a better writer and critical thinker while still handing out a fair grade.
Take him for sure! I hate English, it's my weakness, and this class wasn't too bad for me! The book he has us read was pretty good too. Don't procrastinate on your papers, you'll regret it. There were only 3 papers total we had to write, with rough drafts due for the first two. Make sure you fully read the prompts and proofread! Recommend for sure!
I took David Lacy's 300 and 301 classes. He is amazing! Highly recommend this professor, he cares about his students, gives clear instructions for assignments, and although his essays can be tough, he gives great support and feedback.
I had Professor Lacy for my ENGWR302 class and I had an absolutely amazing experience in his class. He was extremely charismatic, made the material very relatable and engaging, and kept you on your toes in terms of what class discussions would cover for the day. Overall a fantastic teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone for English.
Very tech savvy and respectful.
summer class with a total of 3 essays (pretty long essays though). not always the most clear in prompts, but gives good feedback on essays. not always the most accessible outside of class, but he was extremely busy. weekly reading and discussions, very open-ended essay prompts. good class!
Professor Lacy is the most inspiring teacher I've had so far in college. He makes the reading and discussions relatable to your own life and helps you find ways to write and research about things you're passionate in. If you get a chance to take him do it!
This might be my favorite class ever. I love showing up to write and talk about other peoples' writing. Lacy works with you, balancing your own writing interests with the structure of the course. Take him if you get a chance.
