it's really easy if you pay attention. and he's a nice guy.
the guy smiles all the time...lectures are so boring...u dont even need to attend the lecture because he posts up the notes in blackboard...his exams are tough...if the class average are too low on exams he does curve it
he is a nice guy but his exams really stink. dont believe a word he says about the exam. study everything in the book and tthen only will u do fine.
Have to read the chapter before comming to class. Focus on book and then go over his lecture notes. His class is fun. His exams can be tricky. Be careful not to take to much time on any one question.
He's okay I guess, u dont have to go to lectures until the last 10 minutes(to click in and get the points). Tests are easy but you have to understand the material and not just memorize stuff. He's always smilling and I dont think the world will ever know why.
Dr. Njus is awesome. He knows Hans Krebs and Peter Mitchell. He studied at Oxford. What a cool dude. He went to Harvard and MIT. He is a good teacher.
He is the worst prof. His lectures are so boring and the exams are so hard and the are nothing like he says, They are basically from the book not from his lectures, take someone else.
His lectures are very dull and boring. If you decide to skip, don't worry because he uses Powerpoint and puts his lecture notes on Blackboard. I don't believe that he writes the exams though, they might be departmental. Other than that, he's a very nice person to talk to outside of class.
This guy is the worst prof. ever. He cannot teach and his exams are so hard and god knows where he gets the questions on the exam.
Yes,lecture is fairly boring, exams are a bit difficult,I've seen worse. But Dr. Njus is a great guy & a very intelligent man.I don't think he has taught much in recent years,if at all & the fact that he has to bring all of his knowledge down to our level has got to be difficult,so cut him some slack.
dont take this class with him, you will want to jump off a bridge after the first week of lecture. terribly boring, sometimes seems like hes talking to himself. exams are off the wall, questions are so specific its ridiculous, no test averaged over a 55 percent
I think that he does an excellant job at summarizing all of the info in the book into power point. As long as you study the power point notes you'll be fine for the test. The tests aren't that difficult. It's just hard because there's so much info. He really tries to work with the students. He's goo
Great professor and really nice guy. His tests are difficult but its college so deal with it. He really knows his stuff and his online notes kick ass.
This professor is great! Dr. Njus gives you alot of resources for the exams, you have his powerpoints lectures, u have the book, u have his clicker questions (which are very similar to actual questions on teh exam). He is really fair, and trust me the exams are not as hard as people they say.
He does an excellent job of explaining the material. He is always prepared for class and organized. However, his tests always went into great detail on topics he didn't spend alot of time on, making this a difficult class.
worst prof
Very intelligent professor. Decent teacher, but not the best. Lectures can be a bit boring and the 1st two exams were hard, then he made the exams a bit easier. He posts his lecture notes on blackboard, make sure u study them. Not too hard to pull off a B in the class just make sure u do good in lab
One of the best professor for intro Biology. His exams are not that hard. If you study his powerpoint notes, you should be fine for the exam.
Excellent slides, easy test but speaks too quietly. His slides summarize the chapters very well, and if you understand them you shouldn't have problem with the tests. His lectures can be a little tedious, but overall the class is easy if you study.
really easy guy...all exam materials are from his notes(powerpoint slides)...dont even buy the book..just memorize the notes...OH 'n the makeup is from the summaries on lectures 1-12 really really easy
Dr. Njus is boring. If you are not into Bio then don't take him. He is very smart but his lects drag. His tests are rather hard, but not so much that you can't get an A. You do have to work for it though. The lab in this class is fairly easy but the final lab exam is a lot harder than the first.
very easy. just study and memorize powerpoint lectures. very nice prof! A little too quiet.
Dr. Njus is probably the best prof I had at WSU. I got a solid A in the class, not because it was easy, but because i actually understood the material. Very good teacher. A little quiet. Get a seat up front so u can hear and you'll get an A for sure. He's always smiling, which makes him so cute.
wow is this guy boring or what? tests are not bad at all if you study AHEAD of time, not the day before
Njus is one of my favorite professors at WSU. He is very straightforward, there wasn't one question on his test that wasn't in the power point slides. For the final, just study the summary slides and the material you didn't quite understand during the course of the lecture. I would sit in the front only because you're forced to focus more.
Njus is a ****. Enough said.
If you go to class and pay attention, half of the studying is done. Memorize the slides and you'll be set. He is very nice with grading.
His attitude and tone of voice make the class very relaxing. Be aware that sometimes he talks quietly. It seems he doesn't like to get off topic with students' questions so he will give vague answers. Tests can be tricky but are asked in short questions. No curving. There's a lot of info to learn and it's not an easy class.
Not a bad prof. Speaks a little quietly and mumbles a bit. Exams come straight from his slides and aren't too crazy. Takes attendance using clickers, which are easy points that help a lot. Other than that, 4 exams for grade. I liked him.
This man is the epitome of great teaching. Very clear, consistent and extremely fair. Compared to the teachers that I heard about teaching this course, this man is extremely easy. He takes his questions right out of his slides. No curve balls. Very straightforward. I memorized the slides and got an A on every exam. Of course, I'd supplement w/book.
OMG... Hes so boring and irritating. He whispers the whole time and pretty much talks about random things and then re-reads the slides. I think I fell asleep at least once a week. I find no interest coming to class but I have to due to the clicker questions. Incredibly boring, but hes a nice guy. Don't wait last minute and teach urself.
Dr. Njus has pros and cons. He does talk very quietly, and doesnt really answer questions. But he is pretty easy. Tests are summary slides and if you go to SI it really helps alot. Plus the fact that there are four tests and no final is really enough reason to take him.
I can honestly say this is one of the most boring classes I've ever taken. I never go to class, I learn everything from the SI leader. After the first week of class, I realized he's a nice guy but he should not be teaching. AVOID
Dr. Njus is a really nice guy. For the tests just memorize what's on the summary slides of the powerpoint and any figures or tables he tells you to memorize. He is very quiet and has one of those voices that put you to sleep. Takes attendance by clicker questions.
He's a nice guy. His tests are 50 questions multiple choice, 40 of the questions will be straight from the slide, the other 10 will be random. He talks very softly, very easy to lose focus. he hardly curves. SI helps a lot. he doesnt relate topics. hardly answers questions. try sitting in the first row. avoid if better proffesor is available
DO NOT take him. He talks too quiet, he mumbles, and he doesn't explain anything. He doesn't even answer the questions he always says "we"ll get back to it" and never does. Also, it is a boring class and the class average on the first 2 exams were a 68%.
This guy is terrible. I am so serious he does not know what he is talking about. He reads straight from the slides and contradicts himself. He is a nice guy but that will not help you with your grade. He always says he'll get back to an asked question later but literally NEVER does. Avoid taking the class with him. Class average 68%
Dr.Njus is a very nice guy. His exams are easy, they come straight from the slides. People complaining about him are probably pre-med students that want the answers spoon feed to them. Yes he is boring and yes you have to teach yourself most of it, but the exams are very fair. It is a class of 400, do not expect much.
Dr. Njus is a great guy. He is very educated, and very qualified to teach this class. I would reccomend him. You get out of the class what you put into it. Read the book prior to his lectures and you should be good. His exams require some critical thinking. Dont come to class even a little bit tired, cuz he will put you to sleep.
I do not recommend this guy to any one. He mumbles when he speaks and doesn't answer any questions. He reads directly off the slides and his tests do not relate to things he says. He crams things he's never spoken of the day before the exam and the class average is usually a 68%.
good guy. I recommend him
Dr. Njus is not as bad as everybody says. You really just have to put work into the class, easy as that. This content is hard stuff and it takes effort in order to understand the material. Attendance is mandatory because there is clicker questions which are pretty much free points. He's not really that horrible!
Dr Njus is very nice & the material IMO is fairly simple but the EXAMS are terrible! My Orgo II exams were easier than his MC! The Q's are so ambiguous you're not sure what hes asking. No EC (or curve) is offered in this class, and 30 pts for attendance via Clicker. I would reccommend taking this in the winter with the female prof instead.
very nice
Such a nice and friendly professor. Is easy to approach and will answer any questions you have. The power points cover most of the material on the test and the class lectures are extremely important. If you do not attend class, I recommend you listen to the lectures on echo. He includes extra information for power points that will be on the test.
For the students who claim that he is a bad professor, do not take their advice. They either do not study enough or do not really pay attention in class. He definitely does not just "read off the slides". He adds much extra information and explains concepts briefly and clearly. I do not even read the book and I got a 49/50 from studying the slides.
Wonderful teacher! Very nice and always smiling. Mandatory attendance because of clicker points and tests are right off his slideshows. If you put in the effort to study you will do fine! 4 exams and 1 makeup exam that replaces a low exam score from before.
He is a great teacher and is very knowledgeable. Exams are tough, must not memorize, understand the material. He is also a genius.
Do yourself a favor and study the hell out of the book. He is very knowledgeable but it does not translate in his teaching. Your on ur own so start studying. Go to SI, read the book, go over ppts, please study alone before you have "group studying" b/c those never turn out helpful unless for review. DO NOT BE LAZY AND STUDY AHEAD! DONT FALL BEHIND
Njus is very knowledgeable about Bio but its a dry subject teach and learn. He makes funny comments throughout lecture. He's kind of goofy which is a good thing! He's a relatively easy prof though. His exams reflected powerpoint notes and there are clicker questions too. You need to study really hard to get a good grade. Memorize the powerpoints.
Fairly easy class, but you MUST read the book before going to lecture, without it you are completely lost.
He's a really nice, good teacher. Sometimes he can be confusing, but it's really helpful to read the book. I mostly studied the book and got A's on every single test. It's going to take some work but if you actually put in effort you can do very well.
The class itself is very difficult, and if you're not interested in the subject matter (assuming most aren't), it is boring as well. While it isn't easy material to work with, Dr. Njus did a nice job of trying to make it interesting. He's a pretty funny guy, and seems genuinely nice and helpful. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
I HAD a 4.0, for 2 years. This class is suppose to be a weeder class I understand, but.. The amount of time I put into this class on my own, with study buddies and plus the tutor I hired was not worth the stress. Detail, Detail, Detail!!!! Professor is very contradictory although will sort of help you if you go to office hours. Class average D!
This class was ridiculous. I put A ton of effort into studying and it didn't help much. Prof. Njus mumbles a lot making it hard to understand. It was very hard to stay focused in his class. I think the book was useless except for maybe 2 or 3 questions on exams. All i have to say is good luck.
Every1 commenting that this class was hard have no idea how to study. I never opened the book and got an A-. I never payed attention in class, only went for clicker questions. The key to getting an A in this class is go home, open up the powerpoints, and listen to the lecture posted on ECHO center. Focus & watch youtube videos. EASY!!!!!! I <3 Njus
Really easy teacher, however sometimes he mumbles so make sure to ask him to speak up. I would recommend NOT to buy the book, and strictly study his power points very nice and organized teacher.
He is an amazing professor. He is to the point , his exams are so easy, JUST STUDY THE SLIDES !! This class is not hard.
He gets everything exactly from the slides it can be helpful sometimes, but it sucks since most of the things he doesnt rly explain and memorizing slides nd not understanding makes it hrd ln the exam since he picks on the tiniest detaisl he can. go to SI it is soo helpful nd just go for his class for clicker pts nd go over book rly helps
Do not take him if there are other professors! You do not use the book because everything is in the slides but his lectures are boring and his tests are worded poorly.
Great professor! Everything you need to know is in his slides and he is a pleasant guy and this makes learning the material easier.
I like Dr. Njus, he'll recommend you read the parts of the book that he discussed in lecture. He's willing to help you improve, and offers a good chunk of Extra Credit .Exams are a bit unclear, but if you read the details o n slides you'll be fine. GET iClicker2!
No words on lectures. Writes bad and unclear homework. Only go to class for clicker. Have to read book to understand. Writes confusing exam questions.
He just reads off of slides during lecture and doesn't explain any of the material. Your best bet is to read the book if you want to understand the material.
Great professor. Breaks down major concepts very clearly. His test are written straight from his slides. Very funny professor.
To get an A, just read the book before lecture and take notes in the margins of the slides he provides. Study those and you'll get an A. He keeps his lecture slides light, usually 35-40 slides, with about 7 being clicker questions. Class is out of 1000 points with 40 points extra credit for clickers. 920 points for 4 exams and 80 for homework
When registering I was worried seeing all the low scores he had here. However, he actually isn't so bad! He's not the greatest prof; mumbles alot and sometimes has no idea what he's talking about. BUT, his tests are for the most part very fair, as everything comes from his lecture slides. Has a little extra credit too!
Dr. Njus is a very down to Earth professor. He's easy to talk to, and has good suggestions for how to review. The exams are a little more specific than you'd expect, but overall the class is fair.
Not sure why Dr. Njus has a lower score -- he's not a phenomenal teacher, but he's very fair and approachable. He talks a bit quietly and mumbles, but his tests are not overly difficult and come right from his slides. You also earn points from online quizzes and 40 pts extra credit. Only complaint was he wasn't there during office hrs when I went.
Has a low voice during lectures. Dont need the book test questions are from slides. Very approachable. Exams are fair. Overall a nice guy. Gives 40 points extra credit that come from clickers. TIP: you want to skip class download REEF and use it outside of class you will still get the points. Good luck
His exams are from his slides, so read the parts in the book mentioned in the slides. 4 non-cumulative exams, 23% each, all multiple choice. The online quizzes (8% total) were harder than his actual exams because the TA wrote them. He also offers up to 4% extra credit for clicker points, and you still get the points even if you answer wrong!
I did not understand his lectures, I also re watch his lectures on echo 360 and couldn't understand any of it. people says his exams are off of his power point slides and I find that not true. Make sure you read the chapters and study hard for this class. He is very nice but Lectures are confusing.
This professor is no good tbh he's very bed at lecturing because all the time he mumbles which very hard to understand. especially echo very hard time to understand. I won't not recommend this professor to anybody.
He's very good at giving feedback and he is very approachable. He makes it very clear what he wants you to know for the exam. The syllabus is very straightforward and he offers extra credit for his clicker questions.
Njus is a good prof. His exams are very straight forward, you either know the material or you dont. All clicker is extra credit (40pts). Online quizzes. You dont need the book everything is in the slides. You need to have a clear understanding of the material or you wont be successful. No test banks. No cumulative final
Dr. Njus is an amazing professor. He keeps his powerpoints concise and straight forward. Exams are slightly difficult, but you should do well if you study the material. The best bio professor Ive had so far!
Great choice for Human Phys. Don't waste $ on the book. HW harder than tests. Just listen to his lectures and write what he says, especially when he explains processes. Use these notes and the ppt slides and you'll be set. The tests could be difficult if you don't study, but if you start studying a couple days in advance, you'll be perfectly fine!
Doctor Njus is an amazing professor to say the least. His lectures are very straight forward and everything on his lectures is fair game. Pay attention in class and you will be ok.
The best Bio professor I've ever had. Exams are fair. Covers a lot of material, but keeping up/staying ahead will get you the A you want. Njus is so sweet. When students didn't do well on the 1st exam and asked for EC, he offered it right away. Didn't take much convincing, which was rlly helpful since many students struggle with class being online.
First of all Dr. Njus is very knowledgeable in this class, however, he is probably the worst bio professor I've ever taken. Instead of lecturing twice a week, he decided that we'd get powerpoints with pre-recorded lectures and if you wanted to come on zoom it'd be for questions only. He does not care whether his students pass or fail.
No Test Drops class out of 1000 Points. Barely gave us extra credit, homework is nothing like the exams, everything in lecture but understand concepts more, get ready to teach your self. Everything is in the lectures no book is needed only once used, zoom only once a week. Exam review is a day before the exam and its the most useful thing.
Dr. Njus is very smart and enthusiastic about Human Phys. His lectures cover anything that could be on the exam so the textbook is not needed. If you know the lecture material and work hard you will do well. People who say he's terrible are the ones that go crying to the dean when they can't get an easy A. Put in work and you will do fine.
Dr. Njus is such an amazing professor very intelligent. You don't need to read the textbook but study his lectures they are very detailed and take a while but help you significantly. Also he doesn't do a drop/replace your lowest exam if you do bad on an exam which is probably the only bad thing. Other than that he's my fav prof at Wayne
Dr. Njus is one of the most organized and fair professors I've had at Wayne State. Dr. Njus is a gem, very good lecturer. His class has 4 exams each tested on a unit meaning no cumulative exam. He does not drop any exams but offers makeup. EC points are possible. his exams are a breeze if u study his slides and listen to his lectures.
Really straight forward exams and best way to study for his class is to make your own question banks or exams based on his ppt and when studying, if you are unsure about a slide or topic, email the TA and she'll help explain it. Use tutoring and keep up with material everyday a little bit. Be ready to dedicate 3 hours a day to do well.
Dr Njus is very straightforward and gets right to the point. The class is set up with most points coming from the exam. The exams cover things in lecture however there is just so much info which makes it difficult. Many students were very harsh on him and were constantly complaining but he gave some EC and never tricked us.
Truly the best bio prof I have ever had. So caring and considerate. The class asked him for EC and he made it happen. I honestly don't know why everyone was so hard on him, he did as much as he could to keep our grades legit. Study the lectures and understand the diagrams and you are set. Exams are very fair. You just have to put in the time/effort
This class online was way too intense. So much was jam packed into a lecture, I have a hard time believing if it were in person we would have to know that many details. So many hours of note taking. If you are taking this get ready to work, I feel like this is a medical school level phys class. Completely biology based, understand micro.
Dr. Njus did not provide us with what we needed to succeed. You need to spend 10+ hours every week just notetaking if you want to keep up in this course. No old exams. He gave us a little extra credit. There was a chance for a makeup test at the end, but he never made a formal announcement or email regarding anything about it or what it would cover
40pts EC for his class. His asynchronous lectures are a masterclass in teaching. His exams are fair and there are zero curveballs. What he says in lecture shows up on the exam. Quite kind and has interesting stories to complement course content. Lectures have way more depth than what's required for the exam. Not a good MCAT prep class though.
Professor Njus is so straightforward and his Microsoft Streams are the best resource I have seen in a BIO class! Grade is based on 4 exams but there is 40 extracredit points. Listen to Stream lectures, study and all the exams are pretty much easy As. The material isn't difficult either, he adds interesting stories for each lecture
He explains thoroughly, provides great slides, and gives fair exams. Go to class, take notes, review the slides before the exam and youll be solid. If you dont understand something the first time try relistening to the lectures he posts.
Great professor. Microsoft stream lectures were great. Gave you all the info you need to do well. Anyone who disagrees is a baby. Material isn't that difficult.
His lectures are detailed, but his exams test the most basic themes of the chapters they cover. No final exam and a 4% extra credit bump. An "A" is a 92 instead of a 93 and the exams are super fair. Best pre-recorded lectures I've had the pleasure of watching. I hate biology but loved his lectures. 4 exams - 20% of grade each + homework as last 20%
Took BIO 3200 with Dr. Njus as well. Amazing professor. Simple grading criteria, and super nice. 6690 is a great class for those interested in neurogenerative diseases.
