Lectures boring tho, just talks, no visuals and it feels like you have to write down everything he says to get an AHis tests aren't typical, not enough to memorize theories or definition. If you learn well by his style, you'll do super well. If you don't, you'll fail. Basically, he presents his lecture material, and then you have to learn the book material by yourself bc he doesn't go over it at all. It's the hardest class I've ever had to take. Don't be fooled by how easy the syllabus presents the class to be.

Prof. Lavond was a nice person but other than that, I wouldn't take his class again. There r weekly quizzes that are always worded rly weirdly, and you can't even see your quiz grade after you submit it. How am I supposed to know what to study further for future quizzes if I don't know what I failed on? Have to read 2 textbooks weekly.

This class is not hard at all tbh... As long as you read the textbooks or go to class its not hard to get a good grade (you don't have to do both). I preferred listening to lectures rather than reading, one because it was a lot of text to read through and two his lectures were more representative of what was on the 14 quizzes.

Mr. Lavond is a very intelligent professor who grades quite nicely. I can see why he is a little boring or dry to some students, I COULD attribute this to how visually disorganized and boring the lecture presentations are designed, but his voice is probably the most engaging part of lecture. Weekly quizzes, don't do badly on em!

Dave is a great professor. He explains things well and his slides are well detailed. He offers significant extra credit that makes it really easy to get a good grade, but you MUST attend classes or you won't do well.

Professor Lavond's lectures were extremely boring, but the easy to study notes made up for it. The class is weekly 20 question quizzes that make up your entire grade. If that sounds appealing to you then definitely take the class and you will be fine.

Has the most boring lectures, but incorporates interesting concepts occasionally. He makes it easy to get an A in the class (no midterm/final, just weekly quizzes). Going to his lectures is the easier alternative to the textbook, but you probably won't learn much. Overall, nice guy with a lot of experience and knowledge, but still a dry class.

The lecture can get boring but he's actually very knowledgeable. Class was at 8 am so that's why I didn't enjoy it quite well. But overall good professor!

Prof Lavond is knowledgeable, but lectures can be boring since he has a monotone voice. Lectures are based off of weekly reading from 2 textbooks ( no need to read) and there are weekly MC quizzes based of of lectures. Class grade based off of how well you do on quizzes. Attend TA review session and take notes in class and you will be fine.

He's a cool guy but he has the most boring lectures on campus. No midterms or exams, but weekly quizzes that are super hard. A LOT of reading to do.

A very straightforward class. Lectures can get slow but subject material is interesting. Graded entirely by weekly quizzes and no large exams or papers. Something like lowest two quizzes are dropped. If you attend lectures or read the slides you will do fine on the quizzes. Might seem intimidating but it is very manageable.

Grade based on 14 weekly online quizzes that are already curved. MUST ATTEND CLASS TO DO WELL. Professor Lavond's lectures are pretty boring but write down everything he says and you will be fine. He cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. He is very generous with curving grades and extra credit. 100% would take again.

Weekly quizzes make up the entire grade. Quiz content is supposedly marked on the slides, but really going to lecture is important to succeed. Lectures are dry but get the job done.

I have no clue what these people are saying about having to study for the exams. THEY ARE ALL ONLINE AND YOU HAVE ACCESS TO NOTES??? If you have taken 421 before you literally dont have to study, you know the content already. I didnt go to class most of the time and ended with an A+.

Don't take this class. I did well but it was not worth it. Your whole grade is based off one quiz per week, they are so hard even if you have friends in the class (20 mins 20 questions). His lectures are so terrible, genuinely the worst, and he is so unhelpful. DO NOT TAKE!!

Grade in this class just weekly 20 min quizzes based on lectures that make no sense. You only get extra credit if you score really well on the quizzes so you basically only get EC if you are already doing well. He is not sympathetic if you are struggling and gives absolutely no opportunities to raise your grade- just tells you to study better.

He is alright. He just reads off of the slides so there's really no need to go to class. The weekly tests aren't the worst and are mostly based off of the slides, but some questions don't even show up on the slides and can be a bit confusing. Not my favorite class but doable. If you're not a good test take, I don't recommend.

There really isn't much to say about this class. The classes themselves were pretty dry and were helpful for the quizzes. However, if you do not want to attend class, make sure to thoroughly do the readings. I did the reading front to back and did not find the quizzes very hard. The extra credit was pretty nice and easy to get in my opinion.

He's clearly very knowledgeable about learning and memory but it's sort of the same idea as overexplaining a joke makes it not funny. His application of what he knows about learning and memory to the course makes it boring, rote, and actually encouraged me to just skip class and read the textbook. The course is easy but lectures are unbearable.

Lectures were really boring and most of the time he just read off the slides. I stopped going to class and just read the textbooks on my own. I was able to learn everything fine and did well on the weekly quizzes. I'd take this class again just because the assignments were easy and straightforward, but his lectures were a snooze fest.
