Impossible, labs are easy but tests are hard because they come from no where
AMAZING! KNOWS HIS STUFF AND THE CLASS IS ENJOYABLE
Tests are out of the woodworks and so hard
Explains lectures well, always willing to help, makes you feel good
Very funny professor for a VERY easy class, lecture notes are online, take it!!
Very Fun and excellent and interesting class
Very easy class, just go to class and the notes are online
pretty easy class, professor kind of funny
Good professor, take notes, read book, you'll do well
Very easy class! Go to lectures. Tests come from the lectures. Funny guy
Tests can be tricky, all the notes are on the web so no point going to class.
Funny in a corny way, Lectures can be boring but they are all on-line, TAKE IT!
Very nice guy, lectures straight from slides (online), but tough tests
nice guy, very helpful, go to class, confusing tests
he sucks, boring, test are imposible to take if hungover
boring lectures, difficult tests, online notes are good but not reason enough
Very helpful, funny guy-knows his subject, listen to lectures, it's not boring
zzzz, repetitive, he's just so corny- you gotta love it, tests are kinda rough
dont take class unless you have great memory. tests are all memorization.
You need to memorize a ton of information for this stupid, general course.
his web page is EVERYTHING, go or not go, doesnt matter, the best!
Interesting lectures, funny guy, easy if you pay attention, great slides
Great professor, very funny
Good Class, Notes are all online, Tests are hard, and Kinda hard to stay awake at times.
Great teacher, lectures good, tests extremely fair if you dont get a B or better your an idiot
Harder than I thought, but professor is very helpful. Go to his office hours for a better grade!
Quite easy, just show up to class. Quite the looker too.
Take it if you enjoy teaching yourself everything. Mr. Funny Guy makes jokes all period that aren't funny to anyone but himself and his groupies.
Lots of information to know, but he presents it all very clearly, and all the notes are online. Always willing to help. Should be able to get decent grade.
Very good teacher, but not a good early morning class. But the online notes help a ton.
Very easy if you show up, and if you don;t just read all his notes he posts online. Easy grade as long as you show up and listen.
very very very very boring
No Comments
Well, for one he puts his notes online so going to lectures is kind of optional. But it would help you a little to go. He does give a little more detail in his lectures than on the notes but he follows them for the most part. But it is an easy class.
somewhat of a dork, but helpful, funny and clear. Very easy class. tests are extreamly easy, all notes are online so it can basically be self paced. going to class helps but overall material is easy to comprehend. highly reccomended instructor/course!
lectures are boring but the notes are online, so tests are really easy. however, beware of those hw assignments. his TAs like to take off tons of points, so overall not as easy as i thought.
Funny guy and really knows what he is talking about. I found the class to be pretty easy....even though it was a bit harder than most people make it out to be. All his notes are online, so if you miss a classs, its easy to make up
Who goes to class when you got all the notes online? nuff said
Coolest dorky professor. He knows everything. The notes are online so it can be hard to go sometimes, but he's a good lecturer, so go occasionally. TAs grade HWs, which sucks, b/c they take of points like crazy. Tests are easy.
not a bad guy, tests are all of the slides and exercises
DONT TAKE, HIS EXAMS MAKE THE MATERIAL MUCH HARDER THAN IT REALLY IS! STAY AWAY!!!
Prof. Legates is a great guy and tries to make his lectures interesting. Tests are kinda rough, but if you study they aren't terrible.
He was very unfair on the final and made it on all new stuff after he said it was going to be evenly split......thats not cool
geography 101 should not be this difficult. you will only like this course if weather patterns fascinate you. and if that is the case, you are a dork.
boo this man.
Way harder than it should be. Have to memorize tons of useless material. Exams are not easy at all. The curve at the end was nice. Without the curve this would be the worst class ever. With it, it is one you can tolerate but still should avoid.
A little difficult for a 101 class. Lectures are good but the tests seem hard even after you have studied alot and gone to class. Don't take this as an "easy" group D. The final is cumulative and he doesn't offer any study guides at all.
Worst class, eveything is online, but the material is so obscure. The tests are impossible. Aviod, unless you are interested in learning about weather patterns.
All notes are on slideshows and online...tough to make yourself go to class...great lecturer and nice guy, but tests are very deceitful...weather patterns aren't all that interesting either...read the book, go to review sessions and class
Dr. Legates does a good job teaching this course. Show up to class, take notes and study them because 99% of the test comes from the lecture notes. The class is easy if you study well.
ok teacher, handled large (300+) class pretty well, can be funny at times
Not a bad teacher, just... pay attention. Everything is on slideshows, he's entertaining when the sun is a pumpkin, and handles the lecture hall class well.
easy class if you put forth any work what-so-ever.
THE WORST CLASS EVER, no intro class should be so unclear and his tests are way tricky...never take
the tests are so tricky! no intro class should be this difficult, DO NOT recommend this class for an easy credit!
Horrible, horrible class. WAY to hard for a intro class. I studied harder for this class than any other and did worse in it. Tries to trick you on the tests, try to avoie at all costs
Your're not going to like this class if you doin't like science. I thought it was very interesting and enjoied it.
Never went to class, put forth very very little effort, took lab and did labs the day they were due, got a's in both. You should have no problem in this class if youre not an idiot.
Notes are great. The class isn't too hard but the fact that he talks about abstract things that arent important to the test make it hard to pay attention to lecture.Tries to make jokes that arent funny too. If you can sort through his bad jokes and useless info should do alright on tests
Took this class in a class of 100+ people. Good that the notes are online...but exams very tricky and hard. He failed me this semester and oddly there were quite a few people that didn't do well either. Keep an eye on his grading- oddly grades on tests were close to one another & makes you think.
awful class. sooo boring. his tests are off the slides but still very tricky and material is way out there. if you want to be a weatherman then this class is for you-if not get out.
Do NOT take this class. It sucks. All notes are online, but test questions were tricky and brought your grade down a lot. Too hard for an intro class. Ruined my semester...
Class is boring. But the notes are posted online by Dr. Legates, so you don't have to take any. I showed up less as the semester went along and got an A. Put in a little effort, do the hw, show up here and there for the stuff that confuses you, and you won't fail like some of these other whiners.
He was alright, but the tests were tricky. Not an "easy A," but not a horrible class, either. It's better if you enter this class with a little enthusiasm for the subject, since there is SOOO much information that tends to bore you very easily.
easiest class every, these other people must be idiots. all the notes are online. i went to class 4 times total (1st day, 3 tests) and got an A.
anybody that says this class is dumb must have a serious learning disability or be deaf or blind or something, good teacher really easy really nice
tests are oddly worded and tricky.
not an "easy A" but if you do the work and go well on the exams, you'll be fine. exams are a little tricky at times. class participation not needed to do well. hint, don't screw up on your exams its hard to bring the grade up if you do.
ok. i have been on deans list every single semester and yet i am struggling to even pull a b-. my whole gpa destroyed for one class...dont take it. it's not that he isnt helpful, it is just that the material in incredibly confusing....
Do not listen to these people, this class is not hard. Easy B.
This class had it's ups and downs, however, I wish I did not take it. Notes are posted online, which is convienient-but even if you memorize all of the notes, you possibly will still fail the exams. Exam mult. choice questions are extrememly confusing and misleading. Legates def helps out in the end though to boost your grade.
Doing a reasonable amount of work will get you a decent grade in this course, but it's not quite an easy A. This guy really tries to screw you over with stupid trick questions on tests and homework. Tests and homework tend to be basic but full of annoying traps. The teaching is good enough, but this is the best choice for a grade-boosting course
teacher is a very nice guy. the tests are very confusing.. very confusing. no matter how much u study there are ques that completely throw u off. if u study hard u can pull of a B- to and A thanks to the grade curve. a 76 is a B. go to class although notes are online having him explain it is a lot easier than reading it urself.
This class really isnt that hard. Everything and i mean EVERYTHING you need to know for the exams are on the powerpoint presentations but you MUST MEMORIZE EVERY LITTLE DETAIL to get a good grade. On top of it his questions are tricky, but not impossible. If you know EVERYTHING you should get no lower than an A-
Very easy to follow. If you listen, has some pretty witty jokes. Powerpoints are key, book can help, though not essential for this class.
took this as easy credit and it screwed me over. studied my butt off for all the tests and didn't do well. DO NOT TAKE FOR EASY CREDIT. dont get me wrong, legates is a funny nice guy. his tests are redic though.
Legates is a very funny, laid back guy. I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. The class is huge so obviously attendance isn't mandatory and exams are all multiple choice. Tests are somewhat difficult but if you study enough a B is very doable. Not an easy A class.
class was decent. hes a nice guy but the lectures are kind of boring and the tests are really difficult. if you're looking for a layup class don't take this one
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD..DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! half the questions on the exams are straight from the online notes and other half are from god knows where..on top of that, even if you know the stuff from the notes, the choices confuse you enough to get the answer wrong..PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES AND DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR AN EASY A!!! The tests are not easy becuase he enjoys making them tricky. You worry more about figuring out his tricks than actually applying any knowledge you learned through studying. I studyied alot and it didnt matter. Beware of him academically. He is a nice guy but his tests are sand in my bathing suit area.
Legates is a good professor. slides are online, lectures can sometimes put you to sleep, but the tests or extremely hard!! This is not an easy grade even if you try and go to class. There is a grade curve though which doesn't help much b/c the class average is so low already.
this guy is horrible, dont take his class
He's a phanatic about the material, so sometimes he explains things in lamans terms & sometimes it's very confusing... you don't need to buy the book at all, or really to go to class b/c he usually puts the notes on WebCT... fairly interesting material... exams are only 40 questions so you don't have much chance to screw up... study somewhat
Legates is the man. The class is definately not as easy as everyone makes it out to be, but it's still not bad at all. He puts all the slides on webct, but everything is so much more clear if you go to class. & Don't buy the textbook! Test questions come straight from the slides & lecture notes.
The whole time I was sitting in class I would think to myself, how could somehing so interesting be SO BORING. Class puts everyone to sleep. VERY HARD TESTS, nice guy though. Do not take this class. I went to every class and studied and did horrible.
Legates is amazing. He's so funny too! It's a lecture class, so attendance isn't mandatory, but it definately helps to go to class, because he goes more indepth with the notes. He gives 3 tests, then the final, but he always has assignments which give you lots of extra points if tests aren't your thing. Definately one of the best classes I've taken
Very good teacher. Easy to understand. DONT buy the book. gives great notes and posts them online. Exams are multiple choice only, nothing written. Class can sometime be boring but he does a good job of making it better. I took the lab (GEOG111) with it which was also easy. I recommend both if you need a science elective and lab.
All notes are online but it I recommend you attend class to gain a better understanding. Teacher tries to keep class interesting. Tests are not difficult if you study for them - a lot of the test is basically what is in the notes. Not difficult and actually interesting. Recommended.
This is one of the worst classes I have taken in the 3 years I have been at UD. The notes are online which is good, but the class itself and information are so dumb. He tries and tricks you on the tests. He changes one word in each option. If you like the subject, take the course. If you are doing it for an elective, then choose another class.
This class is NOT an easy A. I thought it would be. If you go to class and study, you will do well, but if you're looking to slack off, choose another class. The assignments are online, but they're time consuming, and you need to study for tests and go to class (even though attendance is not required) to do well. He does teach well though.
RUN!!!!!!! This class is not at all what I thought it be. My friends, we are not talking about geography with states and capitals. The Tests are extremely difficult, he tries to trick you, and the notes require hours of study time. (Which do not pay off) because the tests are impossible anyway. If you're looking for an easy A, FORGET ABOUT IT.
What can I say about Geog101... DONT TAKE IT, this class is NOT an easy A by any means. You take a million notes, and the exams are brutal. Assignments are cake, but come exam time, you better know everything by heart or you'll be getting 65's on everything.
Don't be fooled by the number designation: GEOG101 was NOT an easy A. Great class for History-Ed students for credits. His lectures are very interesting and he is extremely nice. You NEED to study for these tests.
When I first started the class, I thought it would be easy, but as the semester went on, topics got tougher. Doesn't use the book, tests are straight forward from the slides.
Oh no! you mean his class actually requires effort?! Common guys, this is college. Go to class. Take his notes directly from the power point slides. Take your time and read each question on the test carefully. Simple as that, you'll do fine.
His class is not hard at all and the first day he even says going to his class is not important. Although, I must say he will try to trick you on tests, but if you study, you will be ok. Weekly activities are tough, but they are only 10% of the grade...
never went to class and just memorized the powerpoints he posted on his site. if you do that you'll end up getting around an 80 every time.. not the easy A i was looking for
Good and funny teacher, but the material is not very easy. Not the simple geography class I was looking for. If you looking for an easy A dont take this. Some challenging questions on tests. Overrall fair class
Would have done better in bio or chem. The material is very boring and complex, the exams are 100% memorization (types of clouds, climate characteristics). Online homework is required weekly, is tedious and takes over an hour to complete. Exams were very difficult, all multiple choice. The lab was easy though, most labs lasted leas than an hour.
class is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. yes, it's not the easy A you're looking for but legates is an interesting professor who knows what he's talking about. exams are average and studying definately helps!
Not easy, not too hard either. Make sure you study for the exams. He gives about 10 assign. throughout the semester, which help your grade. Really knows what he's talking about. But definately study for the exams.
Since the slides are online, it is easy to want to skip this class. I did so often, but definitely try to go just because it makes you more aware of the material. The textbook is optional, but reading through the chapters once before exams helped. Don't underestimate the material, the exams can definitely be tricky. Study and do the assignments.
Very basic class, no work what so ever. Just four exams the whole semester that add up to 180 pts. Whatever you get out of 180 is your grade. He does powerpoint presentations every class, and goes fast however, slides are online, just bring your laptop to follow along more easy. Can easy skip class, but i recommend attending.
Not as easy as I originally thought. The Professor was good and all, but the tests weren't as easy as I thought. The exams aren't easy and are more complex than the lectures.
If you're looking for an easy Group D, steer clear. Tests are hard and very complex, it's kind of interesting but a ton to remember. I had to put a lot of effort into doing well on exams (and I never really did that great.) The labs are difficult. If you're not into science and weather, take something else. Legates is a nice guy, though
David is a bit dry in lecture, especially if physics aren't your thing but he always takes the time to be very clear. Also the exams are very easy despite being open ended questions.
Legates is a very nice guy, and definitely knows the subject very well. The class is relatively boring, and is solely notes from powerpoints. All the powerpoints and notes are online, however, most of the class is just remembering things, and come test time (there are 4) the exams are quite difficult, not an easy A or B, do not recommend taking.
Nice guy, good sense of humor. Class is pretty boring, just going over slideshows that are already online so attendance isn't mandatory. NOT an easy A or B. Can memorize every word in the slideshows and only get around a 60% on exams. You're grade is based off of 3 exams and the final.
I absolutely LOVE prof Legates!! I had no interest in taking the class and I considered switching my major because he made it so interesting! His exams are so easy. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! he posts his own "book" online and that is what he teaches from because he wrote it. He is willing to help anyone and is FANTASTIC! TAKE HIS CLASS!
Legates is a really nice guy/professor, but the class is super boring. If you're looking for a group D it's manageable but not an easy A. Only reason attendance is mandatory is because of clickers. Otherwise everything he uses is on Sakai.
Knowledgeable professor, very passionate about the subject. Class involves going over Powerpoints but going to class helps because easy iClicker questions help your grade. Exams are tough but if you study enough you can manage. Wouldn't suggest taking this for a breath requirement class.
hes pretty cool I would recommend. I personally didn't do so great in the class because it was my first semester here and I was adjusting to the whole college outlook. it is a good course and good class but it just didn't do me justice. try to keep up with the classes and don't skip too many because it'll kill you in the end
Favorite professor by far! Geography is not a course that comes naturally to me or that I found interesting, but he made it fun and exciting. Tests reflect lectures clearly... so it is important to place emphasis on the slides. Must go to class for participation. Go to his review sessions they are very helpful. Overall, great great person!!!!
Legates is an awesome professor! He makes course material interesting. Tests are difficult, but if you review class material plus the resources he puts online, you will be good.
I love this professor. He is the best professor I've ever met in US, very patient and respects students. He is willing to spend 1 whole hour to discuss your problem during the office time. Even though there are lots of homeworks, you can easily get the idea from his slides, which is very clear. No textbook, everything is from the slide. Hydrology.
The lectures are equation based. The equations are not well explained making the class material very hard to understand. There is not clarification of the material. There is a lack of help for those who do not understand the material. The class is about how the atmosphere works, but he does not believe in climate change.
Dr. Legates is a solid professor. The material he teaches is dry and boring, but he uses his dry sense of humor to make it at least a little more engaging. There are 3 exams that are pretty difficult, but the labs are easy and will boost your grade. He posts all the slides online
Professor Legates is a pretty chill professor so you won't have to lose your mind worrying about getting a good grade in this class. He keeps the lectures entertaining by cracking some jokes and will be real with you about the issues in class. Doesn't assign that much work and the tests are pretty easy.
Dr. Legates is an amazing professor. He never lets his personal beliefs on climate change affect his teaching and is very unbaised and respectful. He is very responsive and is always eager to take time to explain things that we don't understand. He is funny and often cracks some dated jokes mid class. Very knowledgeable about statistics.
He's engaging.
