Dr. Leinweber is BORING. He only gives out 2 exams and a research paper. The first exam, you will fail. It's based solely on the text and coming to class is pointless because all he does is present awful PowerPoint presentations only showing artwork and quotations from the era he is speaking about. TONS of reading.

I am a history major, and I seriously think I lost information I had previously known about European history by taking his class. He grades arbitrarily, has weird formatting requirements he doesn't communicate clearly, and is unable to stay on topic and lecture all the required topics. He also frequently says things that are creepy or inappropriate

Theres some group projects in his class, but they are graded wiredly. Some people in the group do more and get low grade while others do less and get higher grades. Unfair!

I think his grading is tough, hard to get a A or A- in his class. Furthermore, the class workload is too high. This 100 level course is like a 300 level course under another professor. Find some other QW course to take, his class does not worth it.

He just learned how to use canvas this year and he began to create something called response on Fridays. He usually need us to response to a silly prompt with 1000+ words. He is impossible to find during his office hours. And when I saw him and ask him questions during office hours, he just tried to make me leave quickly and hardly answer my questions. Not helpful at all.

Prof Leinweber is so good, you just have to make friends with him and you will have yourself a nice semester.

If you make friends with him, you will have a good time, but if not, you will be messed up. He grade based on how often you go to his office hour, not on your actual work!

His class discussions related to Spanish and Portuguese great voyages last year were focused on the idea how great European people are. As a Nigerian citizen, I spoke up about how native Africans were mistreated by them and that made him criticized me a lot. I think he is a bad teacher and that kind of discussion should never occur again!

He does NOT care about student's health and mental conditions during the COVID19 crisis. He gave huge amount of writing since he believes that this course is a QW course! Leinweber is definitely not caring at all! He reported me, a Chinese student, to the honor council and eventually failed me due to some misunderstandings. Besides me, two more Chinese students are also reported to the honor council too. As foreigners we are not good at English which caused troubles, but instead of offering help, he fails us all!

I took this class as an AP during my high school but I ended up taking it again here because I transferred credit is full. Leinwebers lecture contradicts many of the material I learned in AP version. He also just read the ppt in class which is more boring than my AP. Besides, he is narrow minded when talking about believes. I regret not using AP.

The only thing I though about when I wrote the essay on the topic of Inferno ( related to hell) is the experience of taking his class and my everyday encounters during that painful fifty minutes. As a chem-major and a pre-med student, I simple took his class to satisfy the writing requirement. But I quickly found out that his class is even harder than chemistry, too much work to do everyday. I think he is terrible. He created too much work without considering how much time it will take! He never knows that other classes have much less hw compared to his amount. I took AP history during high school but for some reason I didnt transfer the credit. Compare to AP, his class is way too boring. And the quality of this class is worse than AP. He simple focused too much on writing instead of history. Most importantly, he is a tough grader!

Lots of quizzes, writing responses, and long essays. This is more writing than my other writing class last semester. This professor has made this class so unnecessarily hard. It is no longer a 100 level course for freshman under this syllabus, but more like a 400 level course for seniors. He assigned so many homework which makes fills up all of my time and influenced my grade in other classes. He sometimes assigns impromptu writing at nights which is terrible

This professor does not lecture well, he focused too much on art. He is a art and music enthusiast and that made him skip many part of the important historical events and focus too much on art. He likes music very much and you should definitely see his Spotify playlist and search for the lyrics online to see that important song before class starts

I hate his lectures in general, it is very monotonic and hypnotizing. But I like that he loves music and art. He have put a great focuses on that aspect and that part is very interesting in his lectures. Hope he have a music history class in the future and show us his Spotify playlist on the future and explain what he means in lyrics!

The professor cares more about if you can get assignments done at the brutal pace he sets in the way he wants then any critical thought. I submitted work that was borderline copied straight from the powerpoints and sources he gave us and got a higher grade than when I took my time to come to my own conclusions and check myself with outside sources.
