He was okay at the first 1/3 of the semester because he had powerpoints, then the second 1/3 he used a few slides and lectured, then the final 1/3 of the semester he lectured on the same thing he lectured. He is a great guy and is available for help, just not too strong of a teacher.

Weekly online 10 pt quizzes due prior to class for each section. Adds interesting commentary during class discussions. Class gets a little long at times but it's not bad in any means. Professor Leland always curves the grades and gives many extra-credit opportunities. Expect to spend a lot of time studying, because the exam questions can be very specific, but I found nothing on them that was not covered in the lectures or textbook. I would not say that this class was easy, but it was not horribly difficult either.

DL is perhaps the hardest grader. Says things are graded on completeness, per the syllabus, but you will never get a 100% no matter how you try. Grade weight also makes no sense, 64% of your grade is exams- which btw are impossible. He thinks you are all neuroscientists, and links everything to neuro and overcomplicates every single topic.

Dr. Leland's lectures were really engaging. He follows the study points religiously when it comes to the tests, so it's really helpful to copy and paste the study points into a document and take notes on each point during lecture. Not much homework, but you won't do well if you don't attend lectures.

He uses the iClickr app in class, so it is suggested to be there, but not mandatory. Exams are not hard if you study or pay attention in the lectures. You do use the SONA system. I definitely would take this class again.

It is important to go to class as the lectures will help you on the tests. I recommend that to study you go over the study points and find everything related to them in the textbook. Leland is a pretty decent teacher in terms of going to lectures and comprehending the work. Only does lectures so if you miss a day, have a friend take notes for you. Pretty decent guy overall, he says a few good jokes but is really passionate about psychology and as long as you get most of the notes down on paper, you'll have a fine time.

Cognitive Psychology with Leland is a combination you need to avoid if you want to maintain a good GPA. Cog psych within itself should not be a difficult topic, but he made it one.
